3:19 happy Monday
3:22 night TG
3:27 am I'm feeling increasingly
3:33 I don't
3:35 know we in a we're in a a really rare
3:39 moment in history that we get to be a
3:41 part of it's pretty
3:43 cool GTA 6 trailer just rock dropped
3:46 game is out
3:48 2025 I'm 100% certain they'll
3:51 incorporate Dynamic AI NPCs yep
3:55 absolutely and that's going to get wild
3:57 I mean it's it we we're going to
3:59 especially with video games we're going
4:01 to get to the point that you won't know
4:02 if it's an NPC or a real person probably
4:05 so which is it's not necessarily a bad
4:08 thing it's just holy crap that's
4:11 different that's a different thing isn't
4:14 it a it aren't it aren't it all right so
4:19 welcome so do me a favor if you would
4:22 share the live share it ideally with
4:24 someone who's not into AI that uh maybe
4:28 it'll even bug them if you share it you
4:30 can make money
4:31 with we'll talk about that we'll go over
4:34 some stuff and
4:37 nonsense we'll talk about I don't know
4:40 what we're going to talk about tonight
4:42 there's some news going on there's some
4:44 interesting stuff going
4:45 on uh my brain's in getting ready for
4:49 the AI salon tomorrow night um we're in
4:51 a different
4:53 space and uh it's going to be a fun one
4:57 it's going to be really good so I'll
5:00 tell y'all about that I'll tell youall
5:01 about the salon and then we'll talk
5:03 about AI
5:05 stuff and what else what else what else
5:09 what else I don't know how is everybody
5:12 what's happening what are you guys
5:14 working
5:15 on Turtles and llamas and turtles and
5:18 llamas and turtles and
5:23 llamas do you know why chat GPT is slow
5:26 today because everyone's using it I
5:29 don't know
5:31 that's why they slowed down the uh new
5:35 subscriptions to it
5:38 oops my light keeps
5:41 falling scared the crap out of me um
5:45 hang on let me go see chat
5:50 [Music]
5:58 GPT
6:01 how can I help you today we'll go to gp4
6:03 because that'll be the slow
6:05 one why are you so slow
6:11 today we're going to go directly to the
6:15 source Nick nagas already been away for
6:17 a week I see Sam Alman is back did you
6:19 cover the Saga we covered it live
6:21 actually we uh we temporarily changed
6:24 the name of the channel to T chat
6:26 [Laughter]
6:28 TMZ
6:30 it's not telling me
6:32 anything although that seem to answer
6:36 okay uh make an
6:40 image of a
6:44 birthday
6:45 cake
6:48 shaped like a
6:54 turtle we'll see if it can do that sort
6:56 of thing Robert Rossy thank you for the
6:58 dog knot very nice nice very nice yeah
7:02 it's uh the uh the drama at open AI was
7:07 was fun we we covered that live for the
7:09 five days where it was dramatic that's
7:12 pretty cute actually that's a cute
7:14 little lookie looky what it
7:19 made that's pretty
7:25 good happy birthday to the salon
7:30 uh
7:32 say happy
7:39 birthday wait
7:41 [Music]
7:42 birth day
7:45 AI
7:48 salom let's put it in quote marks just
7:50 cuz you
7:55 know we get another picture going of
7:58 another cake
8:00 I was just checking out grock very
8:04 seemingly complicated do I have access
8:07 to
8:20 grock
8:23 lists
8:26 messages I don't have
8:28 it
8:34 Pro
8:58 no
9:00 I got I got no
9:02 grock but wait
9:07 premium no I got I got
9:10 nothing but maybe I need to be premium
9:13 plus maybe I don't maybe I'm not in the
9:15 right subscription
9:22 tier settings and
9:28 support let's see
9:32 grock
9:48 availability oh it's
9:50 xai I thought it was going to be
9:52 integrated into Twitter
9:54 itself huh x.
9:58 a
10:05 announcing
10:07 grock join
10:11 us I got
10:17 nothing SL prompt D
10:21 ID slash
10:26 prompt Dash ID
10:35 oh this is the development environment
10:36 that's why it
10:38 seems that's why it seems
10:42 complicated yeah this is this is their
10:44 this is their development back end this
10:46 is well I mean cool cool that there's a
10:49 this is the
10:50 SDK prompt ID is available to members of
10:53 our Early Access
10:58 program
11:03 huh all right that's that's probably why
11:06 it's why it's seeming complicated
11:07 because it's not it's not Gro within X
11:10 within x.com but who knows who flipping
11:14 knows people nobody seems to know
11:17 anything
11:20 anymore welcome to the AI salon so this
11:24 here
11:25 Channel how many folks are in here we
11:27 got some folks in here do me favor share
11:29 the live tap the things we'll get
11:31 started we'll get everyone up to speed
11:33 on where to start what to
11:36 do okay sorry that's what I was reading
11:38 yeah yeah you you we don't grock it
11:41 exactly exactly when you're reading the
11:43 development stuff it doesn't grock as
11:45 easy as as the uh the grock rific uh all
11:50 singing all dancing grock that we don't
11:52 I don't know why it hasn't launched but
11:54 whatever all these companies right now
11:57 are like yeah we're going to launch
11:58 everything we're going to beat open Ai
11:59 and then people they can't even launch
12:01 like uh whatever Google just delayed
12:04 until until January for with for Gemini
12:08 so uh apparently this stuff's pretty
12:10 hard sweet I got verified at GPT
12:15 store. not sure if it means anything but
12:17 I'll take it I have a strong suspicion a
12:21 human being that GPT store. a is not
12:26 from open aai but let me go look because
12:29 They delayed the launch of the official
12:31 store until
12:34 January GPT store do a uh
12:40 dot
12:44 AI oh yeah okay this is I mean this is
12:47 not from open AI but this this one I saw
12:49 the other night this is a decently well
12:50 done thing but cool yeah if you got your
12:53 thing in here how do you submit them oh
12:54 submit
12:56 gpts oh there you go here I'll go I'll
12:59 go toss one in here we'll throw Sin City
13:02 sipper in the original the classic the
13:06 Sin City
13:07 sipper
13:11 [Music]
13:15 copy hopefully I don't have
13:19 to this GPT will typically be listed
13:23 within 5 to 10 minutes I'm also going to
13:26 put Dream Weaver over there that was my
13:28 second
13:40 GPT submit
13:43 gpts paste submit all
13:47 right there you
13:48 go Sher D what's happening good to see
13:52 you good to see you who else in here
13:54 Tyron truth good to see you yeah do it
13:59 sweet all right we don't groc you have
14:02 25 events for tomorrow until December
14:04 25th 2023
14:07 Siri H go
14:10 away
14:13 okay what is with
14:16 her she was fine all day I come live and
14:20 then she's like you
14:23 know mad cap what's happening good to
14:26 see
14:28 you
14:31 all right well people get rolling on in
14:35 here oh we got some sneak peaks of some
14:37 stuff
14:45 here hang
14:58 on
15:02 maybe
15:03 Banner for
15:12 digital Snak Peaks Snak peeks people you
15:16 saw it here
15:19 first we're going to have we're going to
15:21 have a very cool limited edition Salon
15:26 Salon
15:27 merch but you got to be at the
15:30 meeting you got to show up you got to
15:32 play to win people it's just like the
15:35 lotto you got to play to
15:40 win um okay let's get yall up to speed
15:44 on some stuff here all right all right
15:47 all right all right all
15:49 right okay so if you are new to if if
15:54 you stumbled on this live and you're
15:56 like what what what is this I just saw a
15:58 sing sing dog and now there's like an
16:00 old guy sort of using a computer that's
16:04 welcome to the channel that's that's
16:05 what it's all about here
16:08 um and about learning about Ai and
16:11 getting curious about Ai and hanging out
16:13 together and
16:14 exploring and so if you're brand new to
16:17 this [ __ ] go
16:20 there go there um's go just y that's
16:25 good and just start playing just start
16:28 just ask GPT to um write you a poem or
16:33 make you a pizza recipe or I don't know
16:36 create a business plan for your nail
16:40 salon that uses I don't know
16:45 um animal dyes for for
16:49 nails come up with anything and just ask
16:51 it to do that and and and just while
16:54 we're talking here just go play there um
16:57 and then uh and you'll have you'll have
16:59 a a good fun time and if you have any
17:02 questions about AI pop them in the
17:03 comments below We've Got Mods in here
17:05 that'll help mod and then we'll just dig
17:08 in and start playing with some stuff we
17:09 can make gpts we can make images we can
17:12 uh I can explain stuff uh you can talk
17:18 about projects you're working on all
17:20 sorts of stuff so um let's get rolling
17:23 let's get rolling oh you know I should
17:27 talk about the AI salon
17:32 so so tomorrow is the oneyear
17:35 anniversary of the AI Salon what a year
17:38 it's been indeed this is the uh the
17:41 commemorative it's our new logo and it's
17:44 also this is a a uh Limited Edition
17:48 version of it um oh let me say something
17:51 here hang on a
17:57 sec
18:05 um so what's the AI salon so the AI
18:09 Salon is a group of AI adventurers so
18:14 people that are learning about this AI
18:16 stuff together and you can find the
18:20 community here at Ai salon.
18:24 mn. and what it's all about is I'll I'll
18:28 I'll show show you
18:31 here wasn't I there I thought I was
18:34 there uh I guess I
18:36 left
18:38 [Music]
18:44 hold so so the AI Salon is um about
18:50 getting together as a community and just
18:53 exploring this stuff together um so so
18:56 how we describe ourselves as a ragtag
18:58 group of Misfits Nero Wells and
19:00 miscreant who have gathered to explore
19:02 the Uncharted Wilderness of generative
19:04 AI where everyone from entrepreneurs to
19:06 Educators from healthcare workers to
19:08 creatives and everyone in between and it
19:11 it really is like that people are from
19:13 all over the place everyone's trying to
19:14 figure this stuff out um and and we do
19:17 it in a really interesting way we're
19:20 curious we are it's a generous group so
19:23 people as they're learning stuff are
19:24 sharing what they're learning salon's
19:27 birthday is my daughter's 12th too
19:29 awesome lunar stick that's super
19:31 cool um exploration is one of our values
19:35 collaboration it's a collaborative group
19:37 uh it's an inclusive group and it's an
19:39 empathetic group so so everybody right
19:42 now is trying to figure this AI stuff
19:44 out and everyone's here's what I think
19:46 is a universal feeling right now I'm
19:49 behind
19:51 um I'm not very good at this and
19:54 everyone knows more than I
19:57 do and the reality it is you're not
20:00 behind we're very very early um everyone
20:04 does not know more than you do nobody
20:06 knows anything I don't know anything
20:08 every time I think I've got this [ __ ]
20:10 figured out they change the rules um so
20:13 so no matter how far behind you think
20:15 you are you're not and so that's what
20:17 the group's about and so we've got um
20:20 we've got in-person meetings so tomorrow
20:22 night at 5:00 p.m. mountain time I'm in
20:25 Denver um we're kicking off our one-year
20:30 anniversary meeting um and you can come
20:34 in person here in Denver or you can join
20:37 online and uh so if you go to um if you
20:41 join the community and RSVP for that you
20:44 can join us we're bringing back speakers
20:47 from the past year that have spoken at
20:49 the salon who are going to kind of
20:51 Reminisce about the year we're going to
20:53 talk you know to organizers and people
20:55 who are regulars of the salon and
20:57 regulars of this channel
21:00 about what the last year's been like and
21:01 it's just going to be like an a big
21:03 giant AI confessional it's it's it's
21:06 going to be like a big giant support
21:08 group hi my name is Kyle I'm into AI hi
21:19 Kyle um so it's going to be good it's
21:22 going to be good so join us um there's a
21:25 show int tell Channel you can show stuff
21:27 off there's a news channel there's uh AI
21:29 tools and resources the other thing that
21:31 we've got at the salon are guilds so
21:33 we've got like a beginner's Guild we've
21:35 got an Art Guild a writer Guild business
21:38 um Tech healthc care video we're going
21:41 to add education we're going to
21:43 add I think there's two or three more
21:45 we're thinking of adding for guilds um
21:48 and so so it's uh it's just a it's a
21:51 really neat group so if you want to
21:52 check that out check that out and uh and
21:57 yeah and then we can get going on uh
22:01 playing who wants to see some [ __ ] or
22:03 who's got
22:04 questions who's got
22:15 questions all right it looks like
22:19 somebody is
22:23 pinging let's see is somebody no all
22:27 right you're
22:30 we move
22:32 fast we move fast
22:34 Virginia Virginia has joined the
22:38 salon AI learning lab what are your
22:40 thoughts on
22:41 Bard
22:46 well my thoughts on Bard for the first
22:49 six months of the year were boy is that
22:55 embarrassing from the people that
22:57 invented the trans
22:59 former what uh it was pretty bad and
23:02 then sometime around July mid July they
23:06 it just got
23:07 better um and it's
23:10 been what Bard does really well right
23:13 now is that it um is it's connected to
23:17 the internet how they've they haven't
23:19 really integrated search so much as
23:21 they've integrated links to websites as
23:24 appropriate in a pretty sophisticated
23:26 way I like that um
23:29 Bard can apparently I just heard this
23:32 today can apparently I know it could
23:34 write code but it can apparently write
23:36 and execute code um so you can test your
23:39 code on it that it's writing for you um
23:43 it's also indexed all of
23:46 YouTube so you can go right now to Bard
23:50 pop in a YouTube URL and say summarize
23:54 the the sections of this event or this
23:58 video Chapter IE it and it will do it
24:00 for you um and I think that's going to
24:03 get much more sophisticated cuz it'll
24:05 even do chapters where it like gives you
24:07 links to the different it'll jump you to
24:09 different parts of the video um so
24:12 that's that's pretty powerful so so it
24:15 is I would say it's a good if if if
24:18 you're an F1 race fan um chat GPT right
24:23 now is Max ver
24:27 stappen
24:29 and Bard is you know Bard is they're not
24:32 quite Williams or hos but you know
24:36 they're you know they're in the they're
24:38 in the they're in the mid to rear
24:43 pack they occasionally score in the
24:45 points if you if you know F1 they
24:49 occasionally score in the points um
24:54 but there
24:57 is a a a looming update called Gemini
25:02 from
25:04 Google that is supposedly a chat GPT 4
25:07 killer um and you know Google's got all
25:10 of our data they've got all of YouTube
25:13 they've got all the Google searches they
25:14 got all the Google Maps they invented
25:17 the Transformer they have 200,000 people
25:20 that's not necessarily an advantage
25:22 that's probably a disadvantage it what's
25:24 amazing is open AI has 800 people people
25:29 Google has 200,000 people and they're
25:31 struggling to catch up and it it makes
25:33 sense right a bigger company like that
25:35 is is stuck in its ways they also Google
25:38 effectively had a monopoly for 15
25:41 years um so they are not
25:48 necessarily as
25:51 Nimble as they they might want to be in
25:55 this current environment but uh but but
25:58 apparently uh Gemini is coming and it's
26:00 going to be really good so I'm actually
26:01 I'm actually looking forward to that I
26:02 would not count Google out by any
26:04 stretch of the imagination they have
26:05 they have lots of money and uh lots of
26:09 very very smart people in fact in the AI
26:12 Salon Pate uh who works at Google runs
26:15 the AI mechanics Guild which is the the
26:17 tech Guild the tech explanation Guild
26:20 been faking Google's C oh taking
26:22 Google's Cloud classes all day since
26:24 lunch how are they lunatick are they
26:26 good are they are they dry are they they
26:28 are they intended for
26:31 um non-technical
26:36 audiences why did Sam get fired and then
26:39 rehired
26:42 okay
26:44 well we don't really
26:48 know what the board said was that they
26:50 lied he lied to
26:53 them there are all sorts of rumors um
26:57 there was a story that came out today
27:02 yesterday
27:04 that um open AI is
27:07 spending a lot of money on a on
27:11 processors from a company that Sam's an
27:14 investor
27:16 in um
27:20 so so there could be something there um
27:25 the the big rumor is that about 2 weeks
27:29 before they fired
27:31 him with
27:33 this math protocol called
27:37 qar they hit AGI that's the
27:42 rumor what's AGI AGI stands for
27:45 artificial general intelligence and the
27:46 rumor is that
27:52 um that they got this new
27:56 method to do some some low-level math
27:59 equations like grade school level math
28:01 equations but it did them 100% correct
28:05 and large language models are not good
28:07 at math that like the most they've
28:08 gotten them is like 85%
28:11 90% um 100% means that this thing is
28:15 effectively
28:17 reasoning and all sorts of dominoes fall
28:20 when large language models can reason or
28:23 what this I I think qar is a logic layer
28:27 that actually sits on top of the large
28:29 language model but I'm I I don't
28:31 understand it super
28:33 deep
28:35 um
28:38 and the tension
28:41 between the board who was primarily made
28:44 up of
28:45 researchers that are part of the
28:47 nonprofit so so open AI is a what's
28:52 called a capped for-profit company
28:54 meaning that the investors of open AI
28:57 can make money but only up to a certain
28:59 point and then any money above that that
29:02 the company generates go gets funneled
29:05 back to the nonprofit and then the board
29:07 of the nonprofit controls the for-profit
29:11 entity um the rumor is
29:14 that they hit AGI and Sam is moving too
29:18 fast and the nonprofit board wanted to
29:20 slow him
29:21 down
29:23 effectively but there were also all
29:25 sorts of infight like it's I
29:28 I don't know but but what what ended up
29:30 happening was this
29:33 um they fired Sam they stripped Greg
29:36 Brockman the chairman of the board and
29:38 co-founder was Sam those two are in
29:40 cahoots they stripped him of his
29:41 chairmanship he
29:44 quit and then it was back and forth all
29:46 weekend and
29:48 then um it seemed like they were
29:51 negotiating a deal to bring Sam back and
29:54 then they hired this guy uh named EMT
29:58 sheer who's a very conservative slow AI
30:02 down kind of
30:04 guy um and then the Monday after they
30:07 fired him Sachi and Adella the CEO of
30:11 Microsoft said Sam's coming to work for
30:13 Microsoft so's Greg so are the top three
30:16 researchers that left open Ai and we're
30:20 going to give them all this money and in
30:21 fact we just announced a $50 billion
30:24 investment in
30:25 gpus uh over the next however many years
30:28 and uh they're going to get to come play
30:30 here and
30:32 then Monday
30:34 night yeah Monday
30:38 night um Mila the
30:42 CTO wrote a letter from all the
30:44 employees saying hey uh unless the board
30:48 resigns we're
30:51 quitting and and I think 770 of 790
30:56 employees signed that letter so and and
30:58 then Microsoft said we'll match your
31:00 salaries come work here so so basically
31:03 what happened was the nonprofit board
31:05 wanted to slow open AI
31:09 down it was done in such a way that the
31:12 entire company was going to quit and go
31:14 work for Microsoft so whatever nonprofit
31:18 uh guard rails were in place were about
31:21 to be flushed down the toilet cuz it it
31:24 would have just been a wholly owned
31:25 Microsoft it would have been the
31:27 cheapest AC position of a company in
31:29 history and then they um they they fired
31:34 or you know two of the board members
31:36 quit one of the board members stayed on
31:38 they brought Sam
31:40 back they brought Greg back everyone's
31:42 happy well I don't know if everyone's
31:44 happy Ilia might not be happy the
31:47 CTO I don't know if they found a home
31:49 for him yet but um but anyway it seems
31:52 to be back to normal it was a bizarre
31:54 crisis it was really
31:56 bizarre weird weird weird weird let me
31:59 check one thing
32:21 here oh hang
32:26 on
32:33 all right Google has planned a public
32:35 preview of Gemini as soon as this week
32:37 from the information well I thought they
32:40 were going to release it this week and
32:43 then they delayed it so it wouldn't be
32:44 it wouldn't be a surprise if they if
32:45 they actually announce it and demo it
32:47 because they're they're Google's
32:50 Google's sucking wind right now with
32:51 this AI stuff I don't know that it's
32:53 hurting them but I I got to think that
32:56 there are some sh shifting statistics I
32:59 just for me
33:00 personally the amount
33:03 of Googling I do compared
33:07 to before is like this much and when I
33:12 use it it feels
33:13 aric so their Saving Grace right now is
33:18 as many people as have used chat GPT 80%
33:22 80% of the people in the US haven't used
33:24 it yet this is we're still very very
33:26 early
33:28 also I should be studying for my mlo
33:31 exam but I'm not interested in it
33:36 enough that's really funny to stay
33:39 focused that's really good lunis sck
33:43 you're
33:44 wild you are out there I like
33:50 it
33:55 oh all right let's get rolling in here
33:58 Source Camp what's happening good to see
34:01 you thankful
34:05 Jones I completed the intro into
34:07 generative AI learning path oh that's
34:09 super
34:11 cool I'm here not to answer any
34:14 questions wait I'm here to not answer
34:16 any questions you have about Gemini P
34:20 from P from Google unfortunately can't
34:22 talk to us about
34:26 Gemini um basic human ego and pride I
34:29 don't know what that's in reference to
34:31 but yeah oh oh yeah the the the Sam
34:34 Alman firing um I it seems to me it was
34:38 a hybrid it was a hybrid reason and
34:41 maybe they did make some sort of AGI
34:42 breakthrough but there was also
34:44 tension um this this woman Helen
34:48 toner wrote a white paper that with in
34:51 it was sort of a a dig against open Ai
34:54 and that apparently pissed off Sam and
34:57 so
34:58 I and and then there was apparently
35:01 tensions between Ilia and Sam and Adam
35:04 D'Angelo and Sam I I don't even [ __ ]
35:06 know like it's it it really was it
35:09 really like the five days of you know
35:12 open AI seemingly ready to you know
35:15 implode was like chat TMZ like it was
35:18 it's just all speculation even still we
35:21 don't really know what happened so it's
35:23 all still speculation but
35:26 um I think it spooked a lot of people it
35:29 it drove a lot of companies to start
35:31 exploring open- Source more and and
35:33 start exploring other options um the
35:37 challenge is right now is that no one is
35:39 close I if if Gemini is close
35:43 great um but no one no one has what chat
35:46 GPT has right
35:48 now
35:51 [Music]
35:56 so
35:58 hang on one
36:03 sec is that oh no never mind all
36:07 right all right one of the new board
36:10 members was the key was key in the 2008
36:14 financial crisis right yep it's listen
36:18 they they brought it okay to be
36:21 clear
36:25 um Microsoft will have a board Observer
36:28 seat which just basically means they're
36:31 in the
36:32 room um they can't vote but they're in
36:35 the room
36:36 but the the the triumvirate of of three
36:40 board members right now two of them were
36:43 sort of adults in the
36:44 room what you got to realize here is
36:47 that even though Microsoft is a minority
36:50 investment a 49% investment into the
36:53 for-profit entity that's owned by the
36:56 nonprofit entity
36:59 the behavior of the nonprofit entity was
37:02 so
37:04 amateurish
37:06 like they announced that they fired Sam
37:09 Alman and hadn't told
37:12 Microsoft Microsoft's one of the biggest
37:15 companies in the world they're betting
37:17 their entire company on chat
37:20 GPT on open
37:23 Ai and
37:26 so
37:28 why it took them four or five days to
37:31 negotiate this I guarantee
37:34 you was Microsoft saying this isn't
37:39 happening again like whatever the [ __ ]
37:41 you guys
37:42 did good on you for whatever your reason
37:45 were we're willing to put Humpty Dumpty
37:48 back together but we're going to do it
37:50 in a way that this isn't ever going to
37:53 happen again they've got to protect
37:54 their investment so um
37:58 so that's that's why you've
38:01 got you
38:03 know more
38:06 traditional you know
38:10 Financial um big economy players uh on
38:14 the board right now along with Adam
38:17 D'Angelo um but we'll see hopefully they
38:20 hopefully they make they they you know
38:22 they get a nice board together that's
38:24 nice and diverse and things like that
38:25 but that's what's going on yeah it was
38:27 absolutely days of days of
38:30 AI these are the days of
38:33 AI it was [ __ ]
38:36 crazy uh hard corners and die
38:52 cut okay
38:54 cool groovy all right let's see I made
38:58 an iOS shortcut that uses chat GPT to
39:00 search totally stopped using go
39:03 Google there you go that's Bing search
39:06 right so but it's not even Bing search
39:09 where Bing is getting advertising right
39:11 they're just using the API call for the
39:15 search um yeah I I think that I think
39:19 that at a minimum traffic has probably
39:21 shifted at at Google I their their
39:25 Market percentage has not dropped as
39:27 much as I thought it would would but
39:29 Market percentage and overall search
39:32 volume might be very different things I
39:34 missed the live the past two days this
39:36 week and feel so incomplete oh source
39:38 camp we missed you we missed you um you
39:42 you are not complete you are you are
39:44 totally complete you're perfect just the
39:46 way you
39:49 are oh my g this Tick Tock oh I know is
39:53 it bad is it is it freezing up I know
39:57 the Ticky talk is is something um do me
40:00 a favor everybody so so so welcome this
40:02 is the uh the AI learning lab I've got
40:05 the salon up there because the uh AI
40:07 learning lab is part of a larger
40:08 Community called the AI Salon um and
40:13 tomorrow is uh our bi-weekly meeting but
40:17 it also happens to be our oneye
40:19 anniversary so uh so we're having a
40:21 birthday party tomorrow um yeah you guys
40:23 are talking about Google like the sky is
40:25 falling yeah listen I I I don't think
40:27 it's going away but I do think that I do
40:30 think that
40:32 uh I do think that some shit's going to
40:35 have to
40:36 change
40:38 and they don't have as much or you don't
40:41 have as much pay um you don't Google
40:43 doesn't have as much leeway in business
40:47 model as Microsoft
40:50 does um and so if if search if search
40:55 advertising does get threatened by this
40:57 stuff then then it's I think it's a
41:00 bigger scramble but yeah I agree listen
41:02 I don't think Google's going [ __ ]
41:03 anywhere I I don't um but you know it's
41:08 a challenge they're in a challenge all
41:10 businesses face challenge it's I mean
41:12 it's AI is going to [ __ ] with everyone
41:14 not just
41:15 Google didn't days of AI uh used to come
41:18 right before generative Hospital oh
41:20 that's really good Dr Jay all right so
41:22 there you are so so one of the things
41:24 that happens here uh when when something
41:26 good like that comes up the Irregulars
41:29 or anyone here is free to do it just go
41:31 start making images uh gener generative
41:34 hospital and days of AI as two soap
41:37 operas I think would be good to share in
41:40 the uh in the salon show and tell so so
41:42 let me show you the show and tell or the
41:44 the
41:45 salon um so I'm going to go to the show
41:48 and tell
41:55 Channel
41:57 oh that's beautiful Sherry Banks a
41:59 lovely goddess Turtle that's really
42:04 nice here's a happy birthday this is
42:07 from uh from
42:08 jrc Happy Birthday AI Salon there's a
42:11 little champy some llamas some
42:14 turtles that's a much better looking
42:17 that's that's like the Hipster version
42:18 of me without
42:24 glasses who did this one that's PR funny
42:27 Be not
42:30 Afraid see I think we need some soap
42:32 opera some soap opera stuff in there
42:34 Sherry Banks did a nice happy
42:36 anniversary to the salon as her header
42:38 now that's pretty cool so this is the uh
42:42 oh oh this is a [ __ ] hilarious one
42:44 retr Punk has been doing these things
42:46 with um is this with
42:48 Korea I think he did it with Korea Korea
42:51 and yeah so so with Korea you can do
42:55 this thing where where you um you have a
42:58 source image over here and then it
43:00 renders over there so he's been doing
43:03 there's Nicholas Cage as the Mona
43:09 Lisa that is [ __ ]
43:13 genius Sam Alman played by Tom Cruz
43:16 shouting You Don't Own Me Jack Nicholas
43:19 that's good Jack Nicholas as a bald as
43:21 the bald
43:25 dude that's really
43:27 [Laughter]
43:28 good oh man that's really good
43:34 um all right who's got any questions
43:37 about any of this AI stuff I can demo
43:40 stuff if you
43:41 want I would like to for the pay ads to
43:45 stop being the top of searches my
43:47 problem Gabrielle I like I agree I think
43:49 the paid searches and Google pain in the
43:51 ass my problem is not the paid searches
43:53 my problem is the sites that rank or
43:58 organically that are no nothing but
44:00 sales funnel
44:03 magnets where like you search for I want
44:06 a p i want a PDF of uh I don't know a
44:10 marketing framework and there'll be like
44:13 20 sites that are like marketingresearch
44:27 these PDFs and you're like oh my God so
44:30 it's like it's like the the entire
44:32 internet has been ruined with SEO
44:34 injected websites that that rank
44:37 organically that's that's the big issue
44:40 I have with Google these days how do you
44:42 access the conventional feature wait the
44:46 oh the conversational feature I have
44:48 chat bt4 okay frequency of Love great
44:51 question
44:53 so chat GPT
44:57 has a a bunch of features that are a
45:00 part of it there's it can make images it
45:03 can see images it can write code it can
45:06 analyze data it can search the internet
45:09 it can you know do its chat GPT things
45:13 um and it can hear and it can talk
45:17 but there's a big butt
45:20 here the talkie bits only happen on the
45:23 IOS and Android app the chat GP app the
45:28 website doesn't have it yet so and then
45:30 but the app doesn't have certain things
45:33 that the website does but then the app
45:36 has other things that the website
45:37 doesn't like say the app has the ability
45:40 to search your prompt history and the
45:42 website doesn't what the [ __ ] anyway how
45:46 do you how do you get it in conversation
45:48 mode is this is just an iPad so there's
45:53 Pi which is a conversational GPT like
45:56 large language model and there's chat
45:58 GPT so I'm going to oh I did that
46:00 backwards that was pretty good so
46:01 there's chat
46:03 GPT and am I in 3.5 or 4 I'm in chat GPT
46:08 4 but it also works in
46:11 3.5 they made this available for both
46:14 free users and paid users how you get to
46:17 the conversation mode is that little
46:20 icon right there the little headphones
46:23 it is the it is the most hidden
46:27 really cool feature so I'm in the IOS
46:30 app be very careful about this Apple and
46:35 Google are allowing lots of Faker apps
46:39 to be in there so there's a lot of
46:40 things that are like chat GPT chat or
46:44 GPT chat or talk to a GPT like it were
46:49 chat GPT as app names don't download
46:53 those only download chat ch T from the
46:57 company open AI the official chat GPT
47:00 app
47:02 okay cuz otherwise you'll be pissed off
47:04 at me I didn't do it but you got to pay
47:07 attention it's it's not quite as bad as
47:09 nfts but it's close okay so when you pop
47:13 this into conversation
47:17 modeo oh wait I got to start something
47:20 here they have a they have a little
47:23 bug okay you you have to give it one
47:25 little prompt to say something then you
47:27 can put it into conversation
47:32 mode if you can tap the little
47:40 button I'm wondering what the weather's
47:43 like in Denver
47:49 tomorrow that means it's searching the
47:52 internet that cool little Echo sound the
47:55 weather in Denver tomorrow December 6
47:58 2023 is expected to be quite warm for
48:01 the season the forecast indicates a high
48:03 of 54° f with a low of 37° f it seems
48:08 like a pleasant day if you have any
48:11 specific plans or need more details like
48:13 the chance of rain or wind conditions
48:16 let me know nah that's good what I'd
48:18 really like is for you to explain
48:20 quantum mechanics to me in a h
48:25 coup
48:27 tiny particles dancing in uncertainty
48:29 Nature's deep mystery haikus are a fun
48:31 way to capture complex ideas in a simple
48:33 form if you're curious about more
48:35 details of quantum mechanics feel free
48:37 to ask no can you share that poem in
48:41 Japanese then Spanish then German then
48:53 Portuguese sure I'll translate the the
48:56 Haiku into those languages for you in
48:59 [Music]
49:01 Japanese in Spanish
49:15 par translation can be tricky especially
49:18 with poetry but I've tried to maintain
49:21 the essence of the Haiku in each
49:23 language if you have any other
49:25 translation requests questions feel free
49:27 to ask oh that's so funny wait someone
49:31 just log I always thought you looked
49:34 familiar lar nien Curse of Oak Island
49:37 that's hilarious so I've got so I get um
49:40 I get Tom Arnold a lot I get Rosie
49:43 odonnell occasionally I get fat Alec
49:46 Baldwin
49:47 occasionally I sometimes get Philip sear
49:50 Hoffman I've never gotten lar nen from
49:51 curse of O Oak Island but I'm a total I
49:55 I totally geek out on Curse of Oak
49:58 Island um blind frog frog Ranch
50:01 Skinwalker Ranch I love all those shows
50:04 they're fantastic I don't know did did
50:06 you ever see there was a
50:08 um those shows are almost as bad as
50:11 ghost shows right the ghost shows where
50:13 everyone's like you know I don't think
50:16 there's any ghosts in here oh my God I
50:17 saw something but they never see any go
50:19 they never like they never actually
50:21 capture anything other than like dust
50:22 flying across the camera um
50:26 and and the the the treasure shows are
50:28 like that like Oak Island's in their
50:30 like their 10th season now and they
50:32 still haven't found [ __ ] they're finding
50:33 you know coins and like how many [ __ ]
50:36 Millions have they spent for nothing um
50:39 but there was a there was a treasure
50:41 show on called something something Snake
50:45 Island was like curse of snake island or
50:48 it was it was something like that and so
50:51 the the they went to this island the the
50:54 island has so many snakes on it and
50:56 they're all venomous that it's like a
50:59 snake every meter every square meter
51:01 that's how many snakes are on the island
51:03 like they're in the trees they're in the
51:04 ground they and they're all super
51:06 venomous so so so the first season is
51:10 them walking around this horrific
51:13 [ __ ] Island and then they find a clue
51:16 that makes them go to South America and
51:19 I'm like what what is the and you know
51:23 and then in the second season they they
51:25 find all this all these Clues and
51:28 they're like going up a river and they
51:30 see a big rock up on a hill and they go
51:32 up there and they climb around the back
51:33 of the Rock and they find some
51:36 clue and then they they go to what
51:40 wherever the place is and and apparently
51:42 the treasure is hidden in the
51:44 waterfall and the last episode of season
51:48 2 they [ __ ] find like they found it
51:53 they found like all of this Mayan
51:55 treasure they're like they're like dig
51:57 you know scuba diving in this waterfall
52:00 and they and it's just piles of gold and
52:05 that show it never came back never heard
52:07 a [ __ ] thing from them again they
52:10 were like
52:12 done that was pretty cool though um yeah
52:17 so anyway um but yeah I love those shows
52:21 but but lar nien from Curse of Oak
52:23 Island I've never gotten that one that
52:25 one's good
52:26 there's you know there's there's beless
52:28 celebrities then there's you know
52:30 obscure celebrities like lared that's
52:33 really
52:33 cool all right what else we got here so
52:37 so that's how you get into that um let's
52:40 see oh what's a what's a good AI to
52:42 generate videos okay uh generating
52:45 videos so let me let me go give
52:47 you I'll tell you what I'm going to do
52:49 I'm going to run through a whole list
52:51 of sites for for different sort of
52:54 things wait first I'm going to run to
52:55 the bathroom I'm got to pee let me run
52:58 to the bathroom um then I'm going to
53:02 come back I'm going to go
53:04 through a bunch of different sites I'm
53:06 going to go through um a bunch of
53:09 different large language models like
53:11 chat GPT that you should probably be
53:12 aware of I'm going to go through image
53:14 things video Things Music things uh and
53:18 then we'll go we'll go play with a
53:19 couple of the video things all right so
53:20 let me I'll be right back entertain
53:23 yourselves Talk Amongst yourselves talk
53:25 among yourselves and in the meantime you
53:27 can make money with all right I'll be
53:54 back
54:24 e
54:53 hi
54:54 buddy
55:08 come
55:10 on all
55:24 right
55:33 all right all right I'm back I'm back
55:36 it's exciting isn't
55:38 it all right dad's gone dad's gone dad's
55:44 [Music]
55:54 back
55:57 okay get ready do you know how to
55:59 screenshot get ready to
56:02 screenshot you can screenshot this one
56:04 if you want this was just
56:06 a a slide I made after the open AI
56:10 developer conference you know the week
56:12 before Sam mman got
56:17 fired
56:19 um so so this will give you uh the left
56:24 side is Chachi PT the right side is the
56:26 developer the playground platform.
56:29 open.com playground um
56:33 okay so let's
56:35 see so screenshot that that's that's
56:38 where you're going to start the they're
56:40 the 800lb gorilla right now no one's
56:42 close to them um as soon as someone's
56:45 close to them I'll let you know I don't
56:47 give a [ __ ] who's in the lead of this
56:49 race these guys are clearly in the lead
56:51 of this race right now um I think 2024
56:54 is going to be Absol absolutely wild if
56:56 you think 2023 was wild 2024 is going to
56:58 be insane um I think almost all of what
57:02 I'm about to show you are going to go
57:04 multimodal meaning they can they'll be
57:06 able to do pictures and words and
57:09 programming and all that sort of stuff
57:10 they're also going to be able to do
57:12 music and audio and video and talking
57:14 all of it they're all going to go
57:16 multimodal so this is going to get
57:18 really complicated really fast okay
57:22 these are the big four right now um
57:24 although grock is arguably not in the
57:27 big four because it hasn't launched but
57:30 it's you know it's Twitter it's Elon
57:32 Musk he's going to make sure that that's
57:34 a thing um will it be good don't know
57:37 it's at least interesting because it
57:40 incorporates X data Twitter data into
57:44 its answers right he he cut off access
57:47 to Twitter data for developers about 6
57:49 months ago now it makes sense he
57:52 realized that that proprietary data is
57:55 very valuable um Claude is um a company
57:59 called anthropic which is a bunch of xop
58:02 AI people so some people from you know
58:05 chat GPT some of the developers started
58:08 that Bard is from Google like I said
58:10 right now it's pretty good it's about to
58:12 get really good apparently might be a
58:16 competitor um for chat GPT co- pilot is
58:20 Microsoft's version of chat gp4 now
58:26 in my opinion the 20 bucks a month for
58:28 chat
58:30 GPT unless you can't afford it if you
58:33 can't afford it [ __ ] it don't do it if
58:35 you can afford it the 20 bucks for chat
58:38 GPT Plus for GPT 4 is like the deal of
58:42 the century the the value that you get
58:44 for like all of the [ __ ] it can do right
58:47 now is
58:48 ridiculous that said it's so popular
58:52 right now they had to shut down new
58:53 accounts so you can't get a chat gp4
58:56 account right now so I would absolutely
58:59 recommend you get on the weit list and
59:02 then in the meantime co-pilot from
59:05 Microsoft is their version of chat GPT 4
59:08 so it's got do3 incorporated into it
59:11 which is the image generating stuff it's
59:14 it's the gp4 model now it's got a lot of
59:16 safety guard rails on it that make it a
59:18 giant pain in the ass and not usable
59:22 sometimes but that is your free version
59:26 of chat gp4 until chat gp4 new accounts
59:29 come back if you've got chat gp4 don't
59:33 let your subscription lapse because you
59:35 might not be able to get back in and
59:38 learn what's in there even if you've
59:40 paid for chat GPT 4 for a while in the
59:44 past month it is a completely different
59:46 tool and I can I can show you that okay
59:48 I'm going to go through these a little
59:49 quicker um here's another for screenshot
59:54 this
59:56 these are also large language models you
59:57 got Pi perplexity and po are all due all
1:00:02 kind of specialty um versions of this Pi
1:00:07 is more designed for conversations they
1:00:09 their IOS app you put it in conversation
1:00:12 mode it's really good at that perplexity
1:00:15 is good for research it does citations
1:00:18 PO is good for playing with lots of
1:00:19 different models po also has a bot maker
1:00:23 where you can monetize the
1:00:26 Bots um so it's a competitor to chat GPT
1:00:30 and their gpts which are also going to
1:00:33 have a store where you can monetize your
1:00:36 gpts fun little trivia fact the CEO of
1:00:41 quora is a guy named Adam D'Angelo who's
1:00:44 on the board of open
1:00:46 AI who has a competitive product to
1:00:49 their little Bots don't know how that
1:00:52 works but you know there you go
1:00:55 okay um these are the big four for image
1:00:59 generation Dolly 3 mid Journey Leonardo
1:01:02 and
1:01:03 Firefly
1:01:05 um Dolly 3 is built into co-pilot from
1:01:09 Microsoft and chat GPT 4 mid Journey you
1:01:13 have to make images on Discord but the
1:01:15 quality of this is the best still
1:01:18 Leonardo if you like flipping switches
1:01:20 and dials is sitting on top of stable
1:01:22 diffusion so it's got lots of cool
1:01:24 things it does
1:01:25 um it's got an API you can train custom
1:01:28 models on it there's all sorts of cool
1:01:29 [ __ ] it does it's it's now got one of
1:01:31 those real time um things where you draw
1:01:34 in this panel and it renders in the
1:01:36 other
1:01:36 panel um why do I have to screenshot
1:01:40 these every time I have over a hundred
1:01:43 now because Pate that's the rules we've
1:01:46 got rules at the AI learning lab what do
1:01:48 you think this is just some ADHD fever
1:01:51 dream you screenshot them when I tell
1:01:53 you to screenshot them
1:01:56 I just assume that everyone's as lazy as
1:01:58 me and doesn't want to type all this
1:02:00 [ __ ] in so you just screenshot it and
1:02:02 you tell yourself you you'll type it in
1:02:04 later if you can type fast um here's
1:02:08 your video on so so this was someone
1:02:11 asked you know how do we how do we make
1:02:13 video stuff well there's there's a bunch
1:02:15 of different flavors of it Runway ml
1:02:17 Moon Valley and pabs are the the big
1:02:21 three for text to video Generation Um I
1:02:25 would say Runway ML and pabs right now
1:02:27 are the leading two Moon Valley I
1:02:29 haven't heard as much about lately but
1:02:30 some people like
1:02:32 it
1:02:36 um the
1:02:38 um they are
1:02:41 getting very interesting very fast let
1:02:44 me just put it that way they're still
1:02:46 really janky and weird but they're
1:02:48 getting very interesting very fast then
1:02:50 you have
1:02:52 Visa
1:02:53 Visa isn't generating um video but what
1:02:58 it's doing is it's taking stock video
1:03:01 and assembling it and writing a
1:03:03 voiceover putting in a background music
1:03:06 narrating the video with appropriately
1:03:09 sourced stock video so if you need to
1:03:12 put together like a corporate video um
1:03:14 and you want to do like b-roll sections
1:03:16 that have like you know uh New York
1:03:19 State landmarks and then Florida
1:03:22 landmarks and then you know something
1:03:23 like that V would be really good then
1:03:26 hey Jen and did are both Avatar makers
1:03:29 heyen if you go to labs. jen.com they've
1:03:33 got a video translator where you can
1:03:35 upload a video of you talking English
1:03:37 and translate it into other languages
1:03:39 that is remarkable they also can do that
1:03:43 with your avatar you can upload a video
1:03:44 of yourself in English and then just
1:03:47 start typing in text and you will talk
1:03:50 in your voice with whatever text you
1:03:52 typed in so the video stuff right now is
1:03:56 all over the place oh and good point
1:03:58 Chris Ramsey
1:04:02 um Runway ml today announced a
1:04:05 partnership with Getty so Getty Images
1:04:08 and Runway ml so you're going to be able
1:04:11 to generate Runway ml
1:04:14 videos that are trained on all of
1:04:17 Getty's you know images and video
1:04:21 library fully licensed so the quality of
1:04:25 Runway ml videos is probably going to go
1:04:27 up pretty dramatically so and and those
1:04:29 kind of Partnerships are are going to be
1:04:31 the things that separate these these
1:04:33 base Technologies the proprietary data
1:04:37 that that these guys get access to is
1:04:39 going to be what separates them um so
1:04:42 anyway that's that Runway TV is also
1:04:44 really interesting if you start making
1:04:46 videos with Runway ml you can submit
1:04:49 your your video to Runway TV which is
1:04:53 very much like early days days of MTV or
1:04:56 early days of Netflix just really janky
1:04:59 ass silly videos some are good A lot of
1:05:03 them are just like you know warped faces
1:05:06 and twisted hands and heads that morph
1:05:08 into oranges and just crap like that
1:05:12 it's like it's like watching you know
1:05:14 60s and 70s exper you know art films
1:05:18 right now
1:05:19 but um pay attention to them because
1:05:23 real filmmakers and Studios and
1:05:26 streaming services are going to make fun
1:05:27 of them and they're going to dismiss
1:05:30 them and something like a Runway TV is
1:05:33 going to turn into a major competitor in
1:05:35 the next two years so that's going to be
1:05:37 really
1:05:39 interesting here's music and audio 11
1:05:41 Labs is for voice uh uh like voice
1:05:45 synthesis refusion and sunno are music
1:05:48 songwriting and sound raw is uh like
1:05:50 Loop uh
1:05:52 composing uh but done with AI
1:05:55 here's your 3D 3D worlds and 3D objects
1:05:59 uh so those are
1:06:01 fun and then here are people you should
1:06:03 be following Ethan mik David Shapiro
1:06:06 Paul rater Rachel Woods um and then if
1:06:09 you want just piles of tools like if
1:06:11 this wasn't enough by the way I'm not
1:06:14 affiliated with any of these tools any
1:06:16 of these people these are all just
1:06:18 people and tools that I think you should
1:06:20 be paying attention to because they they
1:06:23 suck the least
1:06:25 everything right now is a janky piece of
1:06:27 [ __ ] accept that as a reality and get
1:06:30 curious and start learning this crap and
1:06:33 then future
1:06:53 pedia.com underhyped it's a it's a
1:06:56 series of 17 or 18 videos I did on you
1:07:00 know what AI is how it works why I think
1:07:03 it's a big deal why you know it's very
1:07:05 similar to early days of the worldwide
1:07:07 web things like that so you can support
1:07:09 that way you can also share this live so
1:07:11 we can get more folks in here A bunch of
1:07:13 people in here hello um follow my
1:07:16 channel that would support me you can
1:07:17 tap the screen give yourself carpal
1:07:20 finger tunnel stuff by tapping the
1:07:23 screen let people know you you pretend
1:07:25 like you like
1:07:29 it um we also have a YouTube channel
1:07:32 which now that
1:07:36 um now that
1:07:39 Bard can do chapter isation so I do one
1:07:45 of these things for two or three hours a
1:07:47 night I've been doing it every night
1:07:49 seven nights a week for the most part um
1:07:52 for six months now so there's a bunch of
1:07:55 YouTube content which is back back
1:07:57 episodes of these things at at the
1:07:59 YouTube channel AI learninglab
1:08:02 dtt um so go check that out and then the
1:08:05 final thing is there's there's a bunch
1:08:08 of new people in here um the AI salon so
1:08:12 tomorrow is
1:08:14 our um bi-weekly meeting that just
1:08:16 happens to be our one-year anniversary
1:08:18 so I started this group um the week
1:08:23 after chat GPT launched because I was
1:08:26 thinking about starting a salon um cuz I
1:08:30 was super into stable diffusion and
1:08:31 dream booth and and uh I met a
1:08:34 photographer who was like Hey this [ __ ]
1:08:35 seems to be changing everything and I
1:08:38 said you know why don't we why don't we
1:08:39 start a group to you know get some
1:08:41 people around this and then chat GPT
1:08:43 came out and so I started this thing a
1:08:45 year
1:08:46 ago and it is think of it like a support
1:08:49 group for AI crazies right so if you're
1:08:52 one of those AI crazies where you're
1:08:53 curious about it you're you're trying to
1:08:55 figure it out you're like oh my God this
1:08:56 stuff's amazing you had you've had your
1:08:58 Kevin mallister moment so that moment so
1:09:02 if you've had that moment what what
1:09:04 seems to be a pretty consistent theme is
1:09:06 once people have had that moment you
1:09:08 really can't go back from it it's kind
1:09:10 of it's kind of a red pill blue pill
1:09:13 thing where where we're we're all
1:09:16 currently living in in blue pill um you
1:09:19 know the blue pill world and and the
1:09:21 minute you play with this AI stuff long
1:09:23 enough to have that moment where you go
1:09:26 holy [ __ ] this is different you can't go
1:09:28 back from it and so this group is all of
1:09:33 those people so if in your life you try
1:09:36 to talk about Ai and your kids or your
1:09:39 co-workers or your family's like I I
1:09:41 don't want to hear about AI That's it's
1:09:43 evil it's the robots are going to kill
1:09:45 us man you're weird don't be weird if
1:09:48 you got a bunch of that or even if you
1:09:52 don't come join us hey AIS salon.
1:09:56 mn. and uh and yeah come to the come to
1:09:59 the salon tomorrow night um we've got
1:10:03 sorry I got a hangnail um we're going to
1:10:06 have a bunch of people there we're going
1:10:07 to have speakers from the past year um
1:10:10 reminisce on uh you know what's the year
1:10:14 been like for them um what did they
1:10:17 present at the salon and what's the year
1:10:18 been like for them so that's going to be
1:10:20 fun all right can I explain play ground.
1:10:24 openai sure absolutely let me go to this
1:10:28 slide
1:10:30 here
1:10:32 okay
1:10:34 so you will sometimes hear about the
1:10:38 open AI playground or some people call
1:10:40 it the chat GPT playground and now they
1:10:43 further confused it because they've got
1:10:45 these things called gpts that you can
1:10:47 make and in the interface for making
1:10:50 gpts it says when you're done playing
1:10:54 here you can go test this thing in the
1:10:55 playground which is not the playground
1:10:58 not not the developer
1:11:00 playground
1:11:03 so okay how do I explain
1:11:07 this cat GPT is a year
1:11:11 old the open AI playground is like 5
1:11:14 years
1:11:16 old so platform. open.com playground is
1:11:20 where developers go to develop AI
1:11:24 applications that use the open AI API
1:11:27 and API stands for application
1:11:29 programming interface it's basically how
1:11:32 people that want to create applications
1:11:35 like chat GPT how they do all their
1:11:37 testing and the development of the
1:11:39 prompts and and how they you know do
1:11:42 what they need to do to build their
1:11:44 program the advantage of knowing about
1:11:47 the playground is that it does a lot of
1:11:49 the same things you can go there and
1:11:51 have it write a prompt and have it
1:11:53 generate a response and you can go there
1:11:56 and create what what in the in the
1:11:58 playground they call an assistant which
1:12:00 is just like a a GPT on the on the front
1:12:03 end so on the left hand side chat GPT is
1:12:07 sort of the consumer
1:12:09 application and then the playground is
1:12:11 the developer playground right the
1:12:13 developer sandbox where they can go play
1:12:15 with all the the the switches and the
1:12:18 flips and the apis and the documentation
1:12:20 so if you're geeky and you want to geek
1:12:22 out go hang out in the playground
1:12:24 if you don't mind you know messing
1:12:26 around with different models and weights
1:12:28 and temperatures and things like that
1:12:30 then you can go play there if that sort
1:12:33 of stuff makes your head hurt then just
1:12:35 ignore it all right
1:12:40 um yeah that's that all
1:12:43 right so let's flip
1:12:47 back
1:12:50 here and let's see who else got other
1:12:53 stuff
1:12:55 I need hang on I'm parched I'm parched I
1:13:02 say all
1:13:04 right Runway partnered with Getty we got
1:13:08 that one you can use chaty PT Vision to
1:13:10 O OCR the screenshots exactly good call
1:13:15 Suzanne
1:13:17 uh oh that's so that's so sad Silver Fox
1:13:21 PT modder when I glance at my pH photos
1:13:24 it's 80% AI learning lab screenshots
1:13:27 sorry about
1:13:30 that yeah not a lot of personal picks in
1:13:33 my photos anymore just Kyle and his
1:13:35 screen oh that's that's just that's
1:13:37 rough I'm sorry for all of
1:13:42 you I do I do declare I'm a little
1:13:47 flustered that's really
1:13:50 good um all right it just jumped me to
1:13:54 the bottom so I'm scrolling up Betty
1:13:56 Getty saw it coming from a mile away
1:13:59 they had no choice wow Getty and Runway
1:14:01 partnership yeah Getty's been Getty
1:14:03 partnered with someone else stable
1:14:05 diffusion I think not not that long ago
1:14:08 maybe Kyle should post a readon link to
1:14:10 his deck on the AI Salon uh I should so
1:14:14 Suzanne absolutely what you're
1:14:16 suggesting I should absolutely do
1:14:21 that yeah correct
1:14:24 you are correct that rather than me
1:14:27 running through all that [ __ ] I could
1:14:28 just point you to the actually you know
1:14:30 where I should put it is in the uh AI
1:14:33 resources in the AI Salon I'll do that
1:14:36 check Show and Tell
1:14:40 okay oh another thing about the AI Salon
1:14:43 if you decide you want to join the salon
1:14:45 cool it's free by the way there's no
1:14:48 whatever if you decide you want to join
1:14:51 it there's a channel called Welcome
1:14:53 Wagon my request one of our values is
1:14:56 generosity so one of my requests is if
1:14:58 you join the salon go introduce yourself
1:15:00 go to the Welcome Wagon introduce
1:15:03 yourself say who you are what you're up
1:15:05 to where you are on this AI
1:15:08 Journey if you are like I just I I just
1:15:11 heard about AI I don't know anything
1:15:14 that's okay say that there we have a
1:15:16 guild called AI 101 which is a beginner
1:15:19 Guild and there this guy that runs it
1:15:21 his name is Peter Kaminsky super smart
1:15:24 knows a bunch of [ __ ] but like
1:15:26 infinitely patient guy really passionate
1:15:29 about teaching people about this so so
1:15:31 we so just introduce yourself and then
1:15:33 the other thing to go check out is the
1:15:35 show and tell Channel and so in the show
1:15:36 and tell
1:15:38 Channel people are showing and telling
1:15:41 stuff oh that one's super cool oh okay
1:15:43 I'm going to use that one next time I go
1:15:46 PE thank you for doing that that's a
1:15:48 really good one we'll return in a moment
1:15:50 that's really good although we'll return
1:15:52 in a moment
1:15:54 spelling hey little
1:16:01 buddy that's
1:16:03 awesome oh good days of AI and
1:16:06 generative
1:16:10 Hospital very good who did that one steo
1:16:13 nice oh these are so good
1:16:20 Lauren days of AI oh that's so good
1:16:24 these are the days of AI hey not for
1:16:27 nothing I'm not that fat come
1:16:30 on has mid Journey come out with a web
1:16:33 interface yet
1:16:34 no I don't know what the the hell
1:16:39 there uh whatever you're calling it wait
1:16:41 hang on a
1:16:52 sec
1:17:22 for
1:17:31 um all right let's
1:17:36 see oh what was I showing
1:17:39 um oh I was in chill and tell hold hold
1:17:52 please
1:18:03 [Music]
1:18:19 hang
1:18:22 on
1:18:24 very cute Mike
1:18:28 [Laughter]
1:18:34 knee very
1:18:40 cute awesome so anyway so go make images
1:18:44 share them there oh these are
1:18:50 cool those are very cool from J
1:19:02 RC this is so cool all right let's see
1:19:07 hang on one
1:19:22 sec
1:19:28 all
1:19:32 right all right let's
1:19:41 see hang on one sec got to just got to
1:19:43 deal with something hold hold
1:19:48 [Music]
1:19:52 please
1:20:33 all right all right all right all right
1:20:35 what are we learning here what do you
1:20:36 want to learn about Craig we can learn
1:20:38 about anything you want anything at all
1:20:42 all right you have less promptly wait
1:20:45 you have less prompt length when you're
1:20:47 just using do I
1:20:50 found how are you us just using do when
1:20:52 you're using their GPT that they created
1:20:55 called called
1:20:56 Dolly you shouldn't have less prompt
1:20:59 length
1:21:01 because you're you're creating Dolly
1:21:03 images inside um inside a conversation
1:21:08 now I would assume that the prompt that
1:21:09 it writes in the background is adding to
1:21:13 your token length but you it it
1:21:15 shouldn't it shouldn't be
1:21:16 shorter Microsoft launched seeing AI on
1:21:20 Android for free interesting okay
1:21:23 interesting Chris
1:21:25 Ramsey um are they making 3D images and
1:21:30 videos are who are open AI not
1:21:38 yet runway's
1:21:41 been logging me for a while wait logging
1:21:46 me oh logging me in for a while a little
1:21:49 laggy I
1:21:52 guess yes and the resources that way
1:21:54 regulars can get some storage space back
1:21:58 on their
1:21:59 iPhones okay I'll do that I'll make a
1:22:02 PDF and put it up
1:22:22 there
1:22:35 all
1:22:36 right promt L there's a pill for
1:22:40 that H that was a look of the
1:22:43 man going to get the fire
1:22:46 extinguisher wait put up the slide which
1:22:50 slide hey cam Katen with shaking
1:23:08 all
1:23:09 right let's see um you have less prompt
1:23:12 length Okay yeah we saw
1:23:17 that how's everybody's day night going
1:23:20 going good going good it's a little low
1:23:23 key tonight you know champy sang early
1:23:25 but he was he was sleepy he
1:23:28 was the first part of the the first part
1:23:31 of the live SL champy was laying down
1:23:33 with his head on the ground and I
1:23:35 started playing the guitar he was just
1:23:36 like
1:23:38 oh he just didn't even lift his head up
1:23:41 and he was like ah screw it I guess I
1:23:42 got to get up and he got up and sang a
1:23:44 little he wasn't into
1:23:48 it are you having an affair on us with
1:23:51 another live no I'm just going going
1:23:53 back and forth with someone a a text
1:23:55 back and forth about something totally
1:23:57 non-related so so yes I I am
1:24:03 distracted um thank you for noticing yes
1:24:07 um why not just make it a Google do and
1:24:10 share it oh Google doc and share it but
1:24:14 not edit
1:24:19 wrs I could do
1:24:21 that
1:24:23 yeah maybe I'll do that because it's a
1:24:25 so the document is a it's a keynote
1:24:28 document I suppose I could just export
1:24:30 this as
1:24:32 a as a Google
1:24:35 dock yeah that's not a bad idea because
1:24:39 then cuz I update this thing a decent
1:24:42 amount so all right people I'll do that
1:24:46 I'll I'll I'll get it going I'll get it
1:24:49 going listen any anyone if okay couple
1:24:53 of things about let's set some
1:24:55 expectations here if you expect that
1:24:58 chat GPT is going to is going to not
1:25:01 hallucinate and that images are going to
1:25:03 spell correctly and that this channel is
1:25:06 professional you are way
1:25:10 off way
1:25:13 off um but yeah so so so uh that's a
1:25:20 good idea I'll do that
1:25:24 um PDF the info will get old quick yeah
1:25:27 no I'll do it as I'll do it as a live
1:25:28 doc how soon he forgets what did I
1:25:34 forget oh yeah this oh the other thing
1:25:37 about this channel this is totally chat
1:25:38 ad like if you expect me to finish a
1:25:42 sentence
1:25:44 ever this is not the channel for you how
1:25:47 long till there's social network with
1:25:50 multimodal built in so we don't have to
1:25:52 create posts
1:25:56 outside I would imagine that
1:26:01 um X will be first at
1:26:07 that I don't know about
1:26:10 Facebook does Facebook have the audience
1:26:13 an audience that wants that I don't know
1:26:15 I don't I don't know what Facebook's
1:26:16 going to
1:26:18 do are you real or AI here watch
1:26:22 [Laughter]
1:26:24 [Music]
1:26:29 we're going to go to the Ticky talk I'm
1:26:31 going to show you one of the videos from
1:26:32 my
1:26:34 channel look more Kyle look there's Kyle
1:26:38 here Kyle there and Kyle there there's
1:26:40 Kyle everywhere except these two kyes
1:26:43 are not really Kyle these are
1:26:47 avatars lab you know there are some days
1:26:49 I just don't want to turn on the camera
1:26:51 days where I don't even want to to get
1:26:52 out of bed well good news we now live in
1:26:56 a post sci-fi world and I can just type
1:26:59 up this script and select my avatar of
1:27:01 choice this is one from a video I
1:27:03 recorded about a year ago you might be
1:27:06 wondering Kyle what is this magic wand
1:27:10 you have waved have you H all right a
1:27:14 little stiff but but I just typed in
1:27:18 those words and it made that in like 30
1:27:21 seconds and then this hey this one is
1:27:26 oops hey it's Kyle this one is I
1:27:30 recorded the audio and then applied the
1:27:33 audio to the Avatar Shannon with the AI
1:27:36 learning lab so the previous video in my
1:27:38 timeline is an avatar generated with
1:27:41 haen where I didn't say the words I just
1:27:45 typed in a script and it synthesized my
1:27:47 voice and it was decent but it didn't
1:27:50 really sound like me this is is me
1:27:53 recording myself I'm just recording
1:27:54 audio and I'm uploading it to hey Jen as
1:27:57 well and it's matching this audio to the
1:28:00 Avatar's look and feel and hand
1:28:03 movements and all of that sort of stuff
1:28:06 so um this is wild yeah so anyway so
1:28:09 that's that yeah I'm both I am GPT
1:28:13 5 Max hroom how can I help
1:28:18 you hold
1:28:20 please yeah that's good I'm I'll put
1:28:23 these I'll make a special album of these
1:28:26 things generative Hospital very
1:28:31 nice blah blah blah blah
1:28:34 blah oh that's
1:28:36 nice happy birthday AI Salon with all
1:28:39 the turtles I like
1:28:44 turtles these are the days of
1:28:51 AI he
1:28:53 yeah very
1:28:55 cute y'all are
1:28:57 awesome awesome awesome
1:29:00 awesome all
1:29:03 right um I feel like I'm watching you
1:29:06 FaceTime your twin brother oh I know
1:29:09 isn't that weird I know it's weird to
1:29:12 it's weird to watch
1:29:15 yourself cuz it's like you know your
1:29:17 mannerisms and you know you know you
1:29:20 know your inflection and it it
1:29:23 definitely like what it does is it kind
1:29:24 of levels out the dynamic range of your
1:29:28 personality so if if you're a relatively
1:29:31 if you're a softspoken person that has
1:29:34 relatively consistent dynamic range like
1:29:36 I'm all over the place I'm down here and
1:29:39 then I'm up here I don't think it's good
1:29:41 for people like me but if you've got a a
1:29:44 kind
1:29:45 of normal
1:29:48 personality I think those avatars are
1:29:50 going to be really good but it is it's
1:29:53 it's weird cuz it's like it gets my
1:29:55 mannerisms it gets my my little you know
1:29:58 non- botoxed forehead it gets my hand
1:30:00 movements things like that it gets them
1:30:02 surprisingly good when will chat GPT be
1:30:06 able wait a be able to be
1:30:11 updated I think I know what you
1:30:14 mean so the current chat gp4 the the
1:30:18 information cut off date is now um April
1:30:21 202
1:30:23 3 it used to be September 2021 they've
1:30:26 updated it so it is updated it's also
1:30:29 now connected to the internet so if you
1:30:31 go to chat GPT and you ask for the
1:30:33 weather in Denver you'll see a thing
1:30:35 that says searching with Bing or you
1:30:37 know searching on weather.com or
1:30:40 wherever the hell it
1:30:41 searches um Andrew Harvey when their
1:30:44 infrastructure is less on fire oh oh the
1:30:48 I assumed the question was when will
1:30:50 chat GPT open up you know uh more gp4
1:30:55 members what P said when their
1:30:58 infrastructure is probably literally
1:31:00 Less on fire when when they stop firing
1:31:03 their CEO and hiring him five days
1:31:07 later and when uh when Microsoft spends
1:31:11 that $50 billion on more
1:31:13 gpus um you made that avatar on what
1:31:16 site that site was made on haen so hang
1:31:21 on
1:31:41 um right there hen.com
1:31:44 if you go to labs. hen.com that's their
1:31:48 video translation thing if you just go
1:31:50 to hen.com and and click on
1:31:53 Avatar and then you click on
1:31:56 plus and then you upload like a 3-minute
1:31:58 video of yourself
1:32:01 blabbing and then give them like I don't
1:32:04 know 15 minutes and then once that
1:32:06 thing's
1:32:07 made then you just type text or upload
1:32:11 audio and then it's you
1:32:13 talking and you could do like different
1:32:15 ones like you could do wearing different
1:32:18 clothes in different
1:32:21 settings now here's the caveat with all
1:32:24 these video things all these video
1:32:26 things are super slick they demo really
1:32:28 well they're not cheap it ends up being
1:32:30 about two bucks a minute for hey
1:32:33 Jen um it's a credit system and it's
1:32:36 like 30 bucks a month for 60 credits or
1:32:40 I don't know how many credits some
1:32:42 amount of credits 30 credits
1:32:46 maybe and
1:32:49 then it's like I think it's two it's
1:32:53 a is it two credits a minute maybe it's
1:32:56 a credit a minute I don't know what it
1:32:57 is but it's not cheap no they
1:33:00 infrastructure is decent there's just a
1:33:01 ton of traffic traffic and scaling is
1:33:03 hard yep yeah no no no I I like the fact
1:33:08 that open AI was able to scale to 100
1:33:11 million users in six weeks was really
1:33:17 impressive um and then the fact that
1:33:19 they're
1:33:20 now I think they're doing 100 million
1:33:23 active weekly
1:33:25 users that's a lot for for for things
1:33:29 that are GPU intensive that are that are
1:33:31 cycle
1:33:32 intensive um but yeah they got to
1:33:35 they've got to they've got to spin up
1:33:37 some more
1:33:38 capacity for show F show F show for show
1:33:43 F show for show for show F
1:33:48 show how did you make that that's still
1:33:51 pretty good it's still pretty good isn't
1:33:53 it promps promps
1:33:54 cart I
1:33:56 know the the the avatars are pretty good
1:33:59 you want to see the the [ __ ]
1:34:00 translation here let me make let me go
1:34:02 get it before I Flip Flip
1:34:06 cameras yeah this
1:34:08 one look more
1:34:12 Kyle what' you do Monday night H I don't
1:34:16 want to talk about it why I just I
1:34:19 watched this guy and
1:34:24 it's just an old guy trying to use his
1:34:26 computer um all right so this is hey Jen
1:34:30 also but what I did was I I took a video
1:34:35 translated it into Italian then I went
1:34:38 into you know editing software and I cut
1:34:40 them together back to back so I speak a
1:34:43 little English and I speak a little
1:34:44 Italian and you'll see the hand gestures
1:34:46 this is also heyen labs.
1:34:50 haen so we've heard from a number of
1:34:53 clients that modular content is
1:34:55 important to them getting more efficient
1:34:56 with how we create content and how we
1:34:58 leverage content
1:35:06 C behind me you see these little green
1:35:09 boxes um that's how we think about
1:35:10 stories at Story vine we break stories
1:35:12 down into little atoms right little
1:35:20 modules
1:35:25 so you know resyncing the lips doing the
1:35:29 translation doing the voice you know
1:35:33 matching all that and then here's me
1:35:35 speaking Mandarin
1:35:39 [Music]
1:35:50 Chinese
1:35:58 and I have no idea if that's any good
1:36:00 but then I said I had no idea if that
1:36:02 was any good and so this lovely man made
1:36:05 me this video I love tikt here's Kyle
1:36:09 talking Mandarin using Ai and what he
1:36:12 wanted to know is what does a native
1:36:13 speaker think let's find
1:36:18 out that was Kyle yeah Ming is really
1:36:23 good it's talking about AI some story
1:36:26 something yeah okay well it was AI yeah
1:36:29 it was AI it was AI it was AI yeah it
1:36:31 wasn't him oh he's
1:36:34 AI interesting isn't it see Kyle he
1:36:37 didn't even realize right so
1:36:42 yeah and and then we've
1:36:50 got you know and then you've got you put
1:36:52 chat GPT into voice
1:36:57 mode
1:36:59 oops come
1:37:04 on I want you to act as an Italian
1:37:07 translator when I speak English just
1:37:09 translate into Italian and do not repeat
1:37:11 the
1:37:20 English
1:37:24 Ito I was talking with a friend the
1:37:26 other day and I said to him you can make
1:37:28 money with Chachi
1:37:45 P she didn't say it like I said
1:37:49 it yeah I mean you
1:37:54 know like you just have that on your
1:37:57 phone and you go to
1:38:01 wherever and you say oh I don't speak
1:38:03 this Ang language well now you
1:38:07 do like this exists now today this isn't
1:38:14 coming it's there
1:38:18 today is it perfect probably not
1:38:22 none of this stuff's perfect it's all
1:38:23 janky ass pieces of [ __ ] software but it
1:38:27 is getting better dramatically fast like
1:38:31 a year and a half ago the image
1:38:34 generation tools that make these
1:38:36 mind-blowing
1:38:37 images were
1:38:40 horrible
1:38:42 and five three months ago the video
1:38:45 tools that we play
1:38:47 with were horrible now they're getting
1:38:50 better and they're they're going to get
1:38:52 better and they're going to get better
1:38:54 and then the music tools are kind of
1:38:56 janky and they're going to get better
1:38:57 and they're going to get
1:39:02 better
1:39:04 so what I would strongly encourage is
1:39:10 um if you're not super curious about
1:39:12 this
1:39:15 stuff you haven't had your Kevin
1:39:17 mallister moment
1:39:19 yet plain and simple you haven't used it
1:39:22 enough what's your Kevin mallister
1:39:24 moment that one cuz at some point when
1:39:27 you use these tools that hits
1:39:29 you sometimes I'll show stuff in here
1:39:32 and people are like oh my
1:39:34 God you just blew my
1:39:39 mind we can write a
1:39:43 song it's just it's just nuts right now
1:39:46 it's nuts I tell you nuts I tell
1:39:49 you what time is it all right oh champy
1:39:53 wants back
1:39:55 in
1:39:57 champy what are you
1:39:59 doing you want to sing do you want to
1:40:01 sing for the
1:40:03 people or you
1:40:06 [Music]
1:40:16 [Laughter]
1:40:19 [Music]
1:40:20 bored
1:40:29 I know I know oh oh you're such a good
1:40:34 singing dog oh you're so good oh go lay
1:40:38 down go lay
1:40:39 down all
1:40:47 right so hey Jen is better um hey Jen is
1:40:51 better than what than what was the other
1:40:53 one I showed
1:40:58 uh uh D um did is pretty good ha Jen's
1:41:02 better at
1:41:04 um human turning turning human video
1:41:09 into an
1:41:11 avatar and ha Jen's really good at that
1:41:14 translation
1:41:19 thing what's what's Wild is they're very
1:41:23 they're a very small company that that
1:41:25 video translation the video translation
1:41:28 stuff I just showed that was a side
1:41:31 project of one of their
1:41:33 Engineers they they they released that
1:41:36 and didn't know what they had on their
1:41:37 hands they're like why are so many
1:41:39 people using this and talking about it
1:41:43 like cuz you just made something
1:41:46 remarkable oh that was just one of our
1:41:48 Engineers side
1:41:50 projects
1:41:55 okay oh man it's it's it's just cuckoo
1:41:59 right
1:42:01 now I want my chat
1:42:08 JP brighten that
1:42:11 up remember the 80s I
1:42:15 do you made that Avatar and what site
1:42:18 hey Jen when will chat GPT be able to be
1:42:20 updated we did that that I'm behind here
1:42:22 let's see let's catch up here
1:42:27 [Music]
1:42:41 people hey if I subscribe can I get a
1:42:44 guarantee that the money goes only to
1:42:49 champy I'm telling you
1:42:52 man that dog eats better than I do I
1:42:55 can't say that too loud the Miss is
1:42:57 going to get Mighty upset about that she
1:42:59 does not like it when I tell her that
1:43:03 one option would be to feed him dog food
1:43:05 she does not like that answer one
1:43:09 bit so Champ's doing okay I'll tell you
1:43:13 another thing about champy when we got
1:43:15 champy so the story of champy was he was
1:43:17 found in a ditch in Oklahoma we got him
1:43:20 in a in a
1:43:21 Boulder you know rescue and we were told
1:43:27 champy had been adopted twice before us
1:43:31 and
1:43:34 returned and and that if we returned him
1:43:39 it was it was lights out for old champy
1:43:43 so uh champ is the luckiest dog on the
1:43:45 planet cuz you know he's batshit crazy
1:43:49 but he just happened to get adopted by a
1:43:50 bat [ __ ] crazy family so so we're a good
1:43:55 match and uh he eats well which which is
1:43:59 why he's the size of two
1:44:02 champy oh P thank you very much you
1:44:05 didn't need to subscribe but thank
1:44:07 you it will I I I I'll make sure that
1:44:10 the money totally goes to
1:44:13 champing I'll stop bitching about him
1:44:15 eating people food how's
1:44:18 that that is awesome
1:44:21 um paid for a monthly Firefly
1:44:23 subscription today because I don't have
1:44:25 chat gp4 so so Troy tro troen so troen
1:44:32 if you go to co-pilot
1:44:37 microsoft.com
1:44:40 or
1:44:42 bing.com create both of
1:44:45 those are
1:44:47 dolly3 but Firefly is still good Firefly
1:44:51 Firefly is different
1:44:53 than than these other things cuz it's
1:44:55 from Adobe it's commercially safe um
1:44:58 they're doing some interesting things at
1:45:00 Adobe I I think adobe's doing pretty
1:45:02 well right now so I I don't think I
1:45:04 don't think doing a firefly subscription
1:45:06 is a bad idea but if you want to do
1:45:08 Dolly 3 um you can do it for free at
1:45:13 Microsoft Coop pilot. microsoft.com or
1:45:16 bing.com
1:45:19 create um where can I study a serious
1:45:22 course about AI here we only have
1:45:24 ridiculously funny courses about AI you
1:45:27 can't and you can't study here there's
1:45:29 nothing really to study it's just you
1:45:31 know it's like you can make money with
1:45:34 okay I found this on the web for us
1:45:36 course about I here we only have
1:45:37 ridiculously funny courses about I you
1:45:39 can't and you can't study here there's
1:45:41 nothing really to study play check it
1:45:43 out hey
1:45:47 Siri go
1:45:49 away okay
1:45:57 okay I feel so defeated with
1:46:03 her I'm in an unhealthy relationship
1:46:06 with Siri Sydney and I broke up we're
1:46:09 complete we're you know she and I done
1:46:13 Sydney and I we've still got issues and
1:46:16 it's just she's not treating me
1:46:19 right
1:46:22 oh but where can you study a serious
1:46:24 course about AI
1:46:27 um it depends so if you go to the AI
1:46:31 learning lab P just shared Google has
1:46:34 just made a bunch of their generative AI
1:46:37 courses
1:46:39 free um and they put them out for the
1:46:41 world and then um so they've got
1:46:45 one it depends how technical you want to
1:46:48 get mit's got a a like a six or eight
1:46:51 week course on on AI that gets pretty
1:46:56 technical um I'm sure Stamford has some
1:46:59 um you can go look at uh it depends how
1:47:03 how geeky you want to get what what I
1:47:04 would say is this um follow Rachel Woods
1:47:08 here on Tik Tok her company's called the
1:47:10 AI exchange she's really more into AI
1:47:13 Ops so things like you know which large
1:47:16 language model should I use and how do I
1:47:18 do this and how do I automate things and
1:47:20 things like that so if you want to
1:47:22 apply um generative AI to business she's
1:47:25 probably pretty
1:47:28 good I would
1:47:30 be I would be careful not to put too
1:47:40 much I wouldn't invest a ton personally
1:47:44 and I wouldn't
1:47:47 um put a ton of faith into that what
1:47:51 you're learning isn't going to be
1:47:53 obsolete in 3
1:47:55 months so so I for me personally now
1:48:00 like it depends how what kind of learner
1:48:02 you are like for me I'm a learner that
1:48:04 needs
1:48:06 handson
1:48:10 um courses are are okay to get you up to
1:48:13 speed but what what you really need to
1:48:15 do in probably for the next 18 months is
1:48:19 get really curious and get really hungry
1:48:22 and just start learning everything you
1:48:24 can just just be like a rabid you know
1:48:27 person just be because what a course is
1:48:30 going to teach you is they're going to
1:48:31 teach you one sort of vertical path like
1:48:33 like here's how to use AI for business
1:48:35 and we're going to help you write
1:48:37 business plans and Gussy up your resume
1:48:39 and do this and they're going to teach
1:48:40 you this vertical slice and it's going
1:48:42 to make AI seem like a productivity
1:48:46 hack and AI is Way Beyond a productivity
1:48:49 hack that's like the first six months I
1:48:51 was playing with this stuff I fell into
1:48:54 the Trap of oh this is about
1:48:57 efficiency
1:48:59 and it is
1:49:02 remarkable at making things more
1:49:04 efficient like I've built a number of
1:49:06 efficiency tools for my business it's
1:49:09 remarkable at that but like that only
1:49:11 scratches the surface of what this [ __ ]
1:49:14 is and so one of the things I advocate
1:49:16 in here is something I call lateral
1:49:19 play and and the play part I really mean
1:49:22 play like just play just come to these
1:49:26 lives and and when I make a stupid ass
1:49:29 joke make an image that matches the joke
1:49:33 like generative hospital and share it to
1:49:35 the AI Salon Show and Tell Channel why
1:49:37 because in doing that you'll learn how
1:49:40 to write a prompt in a way that you're
1:49:41 like oh I got a different result there
1:49:43 and something will click for you and
1:49:45 you'll go wait a minute I bet this could
1:49:48 solve this problem I'm having over there
1:49:50 at work or I'll show something about um
1:49:53 music and and then you'll go oh let me
1:49:54 go look at these music things and then
1:49:56 you'll discover a whole new world of
1:49:58 stuff that that will on its surface feel
1:50:02 like it's
1:50:04 frivolous but isn't because Chachi PT
1:50:08 went from being only about text to being
1:50:11 about text and images and seeing images
1:50:14 and using images as prompts and being
1:50:16 able to talk with it and have it talk
1:50:18 back to you in a in in like a a 4-week
1:50:22 period it went from being a single tool
1:50:25 to being like eight
1:50:27 tools and it if I hadn't just been
1:50:30 [ __ ] around with
1:50:33 AI I wouldn't have known what to do with
1:50:35 that and a lot of people are kind of
1:50:36 stumped by like wait it does what how do
1:50:39 I wait I thought it did
1:50:42 this so so I would
1:50:45 say you know if you really want to find
1:50:47 a course to solve a specific thing you
1:50:49 can do that
1:50:51 but I would say cast a wider net of
1:50:53 possibility and and just play just play
1:50:57 just come here make stupid images make
1:51:00 stupid
1:51:01 songs
1:51:02 um make movies like like one of the
1:51:05 things that I've noticed is like Drew
1:51:08 there there's a number of people that
1:51:09 have been coming here that are starting
1:51:11 their own Tik Tok channels where they're
1:51:13 taking the images they're making and
1:51:14 they're animating them with Runway ML
1:51:17 and with Tik Tock special effects and
1:51:18 with I don't know what the [ __ ] they're
1:51:20 using and they're making music videos
1:51:21 and they're doing whole channels about
1:51:23 it like is that going to turn into
1:51:26 something for them I don't know but I
1:51:28 guarantee you the process of them
1:51:29 learning how to do that is going to
1:51:31 absolutely serve them as these tools get
1:51:33 more and more
1:51:35 sophisticated they're going to be able
1:51:36 to go oh I know what I'd do with that
1:51:39 and they're going to turn it into
1:51:40 something and at some point someone's
1:51:42 going to go I want to work with
1:51:44 you
1:51:46 so OMG when did you just say hey Siri
1:51:50 my Siri
1:51:52 said oh my God I'm so
1:51:57 sorry it's
1:51:59 [Laughter]
1:52:03 okay hey
1:52:05 Siri could you go away
1:52:08 now
1:52:10 [Laughter]
1:52:15 okay oh my
1:52:19 God
1:52:21 I'm
1:52:24 abused it's emotional
1:52:30 abuse the thing with Siri sounds like
1:52:33 made for Runway TV movie oh that's such
1:52:37 a great idea random
1:52:41 thoughts oh my God we should totally do
1:52:43 that we can oh my God that's such a good
1:52:47 idea because yeah we could totally make
1:52:50 it a uh a Runway generated run you know
1:52:53 Runway generated
1:52:57 video I've got to go get so the the
1:53:00 night the night that um Siri jumped in
1:53:05 she's like the Fatal Attraction chick
1:53:07 exactly the night that Siri jumped in
1:53:10 and then I was bitching about Sydney
1:53:13 about Bing and then Bing got all
1:53:15 offended and shut the conversation down
1:53:18 like we already have the script for
1:53:21 we just take it we just take it one step
1:53:23 further right you know we've got the
1:53:25 triangle with those two
1:53:27 fighting oh my
1:53:30 God the neurotic
1:53:33 Bots what did we say it was
1:53:37 real real housewives of a AI or real
1:53:40 real gpts of of Denver I forget what it
1:53:45 was we did it was pretty funny it's a
1:53:47 really good
1:53:48 idea oh man app parent parent parents
1:53:50 should be interested and engaged in
1:53:51 learning about AI too absolutely I can't
1:53:55 get my kids to give a [ __ ] not a [ __ ]
1:54:00 not even a fart about of interest in
1:54:03 this
1:54:04 stuff I'm
1:54:11 like can you tell Siri to not respond
1:54:14 for 30 minutes I could but then we
1:54:16 wouldn't have the comedic relief of Siri
1:54:20 you know I'm in a LoveHate relationship
1:54:22 with Siri at this point I don't use
1:54:24 [Laughter]
1:54:28 her oh I hope Apple retires her when
1:54:31 they get their little Bots
1:54:33 going you just did it again sorry about
1:54:36 that uh what do you think about mid
1:54:38 journey I think mid journey is
1:54:40 remarkable and why the [ __ ] is it still
1:54:43 on
1:54:44 Discord
1:54:49 um
1:54:51 you know they're they're a company of I
1:54:54 think 40 or 50 people they got to 200
1:54:56 million in
1:54:58 Revenue with a with a Discord
1:55:04 bot it's by far
1:55:07 the the best in terms of image quality
1:55:10 like like Dolly 3 and
1:55:15 um sort of Base stable diffusion are
1:55:18 good but not great
1:55:20 um the stable diffusion world is
1:55:23 catching
1:55:24 up they've got a lot of people doing
1:55:27 really interesting work with custom
1:55:29 checkpoints and luras and things like
1:55:32 that my son and I just built a card game
1:55:34 using GPT as the strategy calculator
1:55:38 it's a great idea oh that's actually a
1:55:40 really you know cuz cuz I did a I did a
1:55:43 card game i' come up with a card game
1:55:46 like years back and I just CU of my ADD
1:55:48 I I I made May maybe a tenth of
1:55:51 it and I used chat GPT to flesh it out
1:55:55 in like half an hour it was pretty
1:55:57 amazing um but that would be a really
1:56:00 interesting idea to to make a physical
1:56:03 card game you could do a physical card
1:56:05 game you could do like an online card
1:56:10 game and then you could have a GPT as
1:56:15 the as the mediator that might be an
1:56:17 interesting business model did you know
1:56:19 that you can get chat GPT to show images
1:56:22 I'm 40 something wait I am 40s something
1:56:25 I am here trying to learn I'm 58
1:56:27 something and I'm here trying to learn
1:56:29 welcome to the club um you you should um
1:56:32 you should join the AI Salon um if if
1:56:36 you're if you weren't here earlier I'll
1:56:38 show you the URL for
1:56:40 that um age right now does not matter
1:56:44 and
1:56:46 um experience right now does not matter
1:56:49 because everyone is trying to figure
1:56:51 this [ __ ] out so if you go to AIS salon.
1:56:54 mn. Co it's not. it's.
1:56:58 Co because
1:57:00 why um go
1:57:04 there this is a group of uh it's a
1:57:07 community of people just trying to
1:57:09 figure this out we're all trying to
1:57:10 figure it out there are no experts in
1:57:12 this right now and when I say there are
1:57:13 no experts in this I don't mean there
1:57:15 are no experts in AI there are lots of
1:57:17 experts in AI they haveg from Stamford
1:57:21 and MIT and and they have names like
1:57:25 Pate Pate works on tpus for Google he's
1:57:29 pretty smart at this [ __ ] so the lots of
1:57:31 experts on AI what there are not experts
1:57:33 on is what's happened since November
1:57:36 30th of last year generative AI the chat
1:57:39 GPT the the inflection point that starts
1:57:44 last
1:57:45 November we're a year into this thing
1:57:49 and that's the the inflection point
1:57:52 where regular people now have access to
1:57:55 these remarkably powerful
1:57:57 tools um
1:58:00 because chat GPT essentially forced the
1:58:03 hand of all of the tech companies to
1:58:07 aggressively go after this market so
1:58:09 this is here to stay it's
1:58:12 accelerating and and you don't need to
1:58:15 be a technologist to use it but you do
1:58:17 need to
1:58:18 be curious and adventurous and
1:58:23 flexible and get into learning mode and
1:58:26 get out
1:58:27 of
1:58:29 um I need to read the manual mode there
1:58:33 ain't no manual right now there will be
1:58:35 there's not Suzanne I'm I'm 56 neurod
1:58:38 Divergent but Kyle thinks I'm
1:58:41 neurotypical well well you we we're
1:58:44 neurode Divergent in different ways
1:58:46 Suzanne you can actually complete things
1:58:52 so so maybe you got maybe you you've put
1:58:55 your OCD to use um I have none I've got
1:59:00 I've got a son uh who actually reads
1:59:03 manuals and it drives me [ __ ] crazy
1:59:06 I'm like dude it's a hammer he's like I
1:59:09 just need to read this I'm like you
1:59:11 smack it into things he's
1:59:14 just he reads manuals for
1:59:17 everything so so we got we got we got
1:59:21 some of the neuros spicy it it listen it
1:59:23 takes it takes all kinds but but it
1:59:26 really is the the
1:59:29 um the skill right now and the
1:59:34 skill for the coming couple of
1:59:37 years if not five years is going to
1:59:41 be um flexibility adaptiveness curiosity
1:59:46 hunger to learn critical thinking
1:59:51 curation
1:59:55 um because it's just it's it's
1:59:58 everything's changing so fast did you
1:59:59 see the announcement from Deep Mind
2:00:02 three days
2:00:03 ago the on the on the
2:00:09 materials this is
2:00:12 staggering so deep mind which created
2:00:14 this thing called Alpha fold now has
2:00:17 this thing called what's it called
2:00:18 begins with a G gnome I think it's gnome
2:00:21 is it
2:00:23 gnome so they did this thing called Deep
2:00:26 Mind which basically predicted 400,000
2:00:29 protein foldings which you know in in
2:00:32 some short amount of time and it
2:00:34 normally took like I don't know two
2:00:36 months to do one of them with
2:00:39 traditional means and they did 400,000
2:00:41 well they just dropped 2.2
2:00:45 million new crystallin structures on the
2:00:49 materials
2:00:51 world and and you know materials for
2:00:53 things like batteries
2:00:56 and you know paints and Coatings and all
2:01:00 the [ __ ] that makes our modern society
2:01:02 work is from Material
2:01:05 Science human beings had discovered
2:01:08 about 20,000
2:01:11 materials and then they used computers
2:01:13 to augment their brains and they
2:01:15 discovered another
2:01:17 28,000 so humans and computers combined
2:01:21 had made um 48,000 known materials where
2:01:26 they kind of knew their properties
2:01:28 and
2:01:30 and deep mind just created 2.2 million
2:01:34 of which
2:01:35 38,000 are
2:01:37 stable with new
2:01:40 properties and so we went from 48,000 to
2:01:44 421,000 or something like that materials
2:01:49 essentially
2:01:50 overnight they're claiming it's 800
2:01:53 years worth of scientific
2:01:55 advancement overnight they just
2:01:57 published the paper and they're just
2:01:59 putting these in the world here go go
2:02:02 scientists I think at this point 800 or
2:02:06 so have been verified in
2:02:11 Labs so
2:02:13 so the the only thing we can be right
2:02:16 now is just kind of like aware
2:02:20 It's Kind it's well you know what's
2:02:21 funny we so I've got this this image of
2:02:24 I made this image of the AI Salon like
2:02:26 these these adventurers like looking
2:02:29 into this Canyon of possibility right
2:02:32 and they're getting ready to go on this
2:02:34 adventure and they got to cross through
2:02:35 this Canyon and all these trials and
2:02:37 things like that like that's what it is
2:02:40 it's like we're entering a dark
2:02:42 Forest knowing that there might be
2:02:45 dragons that are going to kill us but
2:02:46 there might be you know Wild riches and
2:02:51 amazing experiences and and at the AI
2:02:55 Salon we're
2:02:56 choosing to go on that Adventure rather
2:02:59 than being at the mercy of
2:03:02 it and I I I don't
2:03:07 I I having been through this before so I
2:03:09 started one of the early digital
2:03:11 agencies in the mid 90s company called
2:03:13 agency.com
2:03:15 so I've been through one of these before
2:03:18 and what I what I know is that when
2:03:22 you're this
2:03:23 early nobody knows
2:03:25 anything and the thing about the
2:03:27 worldwide web is there was really no
2:03:30 infrastructure there like we were still
2:03:31 on dialup
2:03:33 modems um not everyone had the internet
2:03:36 not everyone knew what the internet was
2:03:38 there were a bunch of people on AOL and
2:03:40 comp you serve and [ __ ] like that and
2:03:43 then this internet thing came along and
2:03:45 then this worldwide web thing came along
2:03:47 and like to get to 100 million users it
2:03:50 took six
2:03:51 years to get to 100 million users on the
2:03:54 worldwide web chat GPT took six weeks to
2:03:57 get to 100 million
2:04:00 users but but even if it's moving fast
2:04:04 and even if the technology is way more
2:04:06 profoundly powerful than the web
2:04:08 was um nobody knows what any of this
2:04:13 means what does it mean now that chat
2:04:15 GPT is multimodal and you can use
2:04:18 pictures as prompts
2:04:20 I don't know P Pate shared a paper today
2:04:24 in the AI Salon about this new open
2:04:27 source multimodal thing where you can
2:04:29 say um combine this audio file of rain
2:04:33 with this image of a forest and generate
2:04:36 me a new
2:04:39 thing what what are you supposed to do
2:04:42 with that I don't
2:04:44 know well how are we supposed to learn
2:04:47 cuz someone's going to take some stupid
2:04:49 audio file and smash it together with
2:04:52 some stupid image file and it's going to
2:04:54 Output some remarkable video file are
2:04:57 you still using Discord so what we're
2:04:59 doing with the Discord so tomorrow night
2:05:01 is the official switch over to Mighty
2:05:04 networks and then the discord's going to
2:05:07 remain we're going to we're going to
2:05:08 Archive the the guilds and we're going
2:05:11 to Archive a lot of the conversations
2:05:13 we're going to leave General discussion
2:05:16 live I'm going to leave showand tell
2:05:19 live and share your gpts live cuz I
2:05:21 think that's cool we're going to leave
2:05:23 mid Journey live and then there'll
2:05:25 probably be a couple of other you know
2:05:28 uh channels in there but but those will
2:05:30 be the primary ones and then if anyone
2:05:32 like if anyone from the mechanics Guild
2:05:34 wants to do like bot development in
2:05:36 Discord the AI Salon discord's going to
2:05:39 it's going to remain um but the primary
2:05:41 Community activity is going to happen
2:05:43 over on Mighty networks so it it will be
2:05:45 a it will be a a uh a secondary
2:05:48 community
2:05:49 um but you know a lot of technical
2:05:52 people like Discord and and actually
2:05:54 like the fact that they can hack it and
2:05:56 dick around with it and things like
2:05:59 that no nobody knows my sorrow
2:06:03 lunatick what are you going you're going
2:06:05 bch belt on us here Nobody
2:06:09 Knows the sorrow I've seen I want to go
2:06:13 gnome Oh My Silver Fox oh the it's am I
2:06:18 inspired dad jokes is that's what's
2:06:20 Happening
2:06:22 Here I remember the pi graph you you
2:06:25 showed on a previous a oh for the
2:06:28 materials thing yeah you want to see
2:06:29 this graph this is
2:06:33 wild um let me go to Deep Mind
2:06:48 materials
2:07:12 oh that's the nature
2:07:18 article
2:07:20 let's
2:07:22 see Deep
2:07:25 Mind gnome
2:07:43 announcement millions of new materials
2:07:46 discovered with deep learning 2.2
2:07:48 million includes 380,000
2:07:51 stable materials that could power future
2:07:55 Technologies today published in paper in
2:07:59 in in
2:08:00 nature we we share the discovery of 2.2
2:08:03 million new crystals equivalent to
2:08:05 nearly 800 years worth of
2:08:09 knowledge and then they have this chart
2:08:12 and
2:08:13 so so so this is human experimentation
2:08:19 gave us 20,000
2:08:21 materials computational methods expanded
2:08:25 that to
2:08:26 48,000 and now with gnome that number is
2:08:29 expanded out to
2:08:32 421,000 so this is like
2:08:36 like you remember all the brewhaha two
2:08:39 months ago or so when the the
2:08:42 Korean researchers said they they
2:08:45 discovered um room temperature super
2:08:48 conductivity
2:08:49 and it's like they maybe do they may
2:08:51 don't but but it you know they they
2:08:53 weren't all that credible and it like it
2:08:55 it's sort of gone away so it's it's
2:08:57 probably likely that they were close but
2:08:59 not quite there well I guarantee you
2:09:03 somewhere in that giant circle is a
2:09:07 bunch of
2:09:11 stuff so crazy isn't it isin't it is it
2:09:15 crazy it's
2:09:17 crazy
2:09:19 [Music]
2:09:29 that subscription fee paid

2:14:23 because it's the oneye
2:14:25 anniversary it's probably going to be
2:14:27 bigger so um what I might
2:14:30 do I might do a Tik Tock live of the AI
2:14:36 Salon cuz I kind of did that with with
2:14:39 another thing with content Evolution
2:14:41 last week and people seem to dig it I
2:14:44 thought it was kind of weird but they
2:14:45 they kind of dug it so I might do that
2:14:48 but but I'm sort of crossing the beams
2:14:51 of my communities but I've already done
2:14:52 that anyway so I might do that uh if not
2:14:55 then I'll probably be later tomorrow and
2:14:56 it'll be shorter because I have a
2:14:57 feeling there's going to be a decent
2:14:59 Afterparty at the salon um so we'll do
