26:17 [ __ ] mess it was it it wasn't a mess
26:20 from a technologist point of view but if
26:24 you wanted a human being to use the
26:26 internet they would just look at it and
26:29 go yeah
26:30 no and then Tim burners Lee invents the
26:32 worldwide web and the the internet goes
26:36 from this thing that you had to know
26:37 codes and numbers to I can click on
26:41 hyperlinks and that that that was the
26:44 primary Innovation there was click click
26:47 zoom over to another server click zoom
26:49 over to another piece of data um and it
26:52 changed everything now it took a while
26:56 but the real Innovation there was the
26:59 shift from scientists and technologists
27:02 and researchers to Everyday People and
27:05 so chpt represents that for AI so comfy
27:10 UI lives in that space where it's like
27:12 well you still got to be a [ __ ]
27:14 programmer like even though it it is a
27:16 visual interface and you can sort of
27:18 connect wires and dots you still got to
27:20 be a [ __ ] programmer and you have to
27:22 geek out on Which models you're using
27:24 and which version of the model and where
27:26 it's being hosted and how it's being
27:27 served and how many gpus you been
27:30 allocated it's who gives a
27:34 [ __ ] so so I mean a lot of people give a
27:37 [ __ ] and they should give a [ __ ] but
27:39 that's the focus here is the rest of
27:43 us not having to be a programmer

28:34 Moshi boy nailed it nailed
28:40 it but we can go look at some videos of
28:42 people playing with that they're they're
28:44 not like people are just being idiots
28:45 right now cuz it's only been out for 3
28:48 hours or whatever it's
28:49 been

28:54 us GP is so smart what's the downside of
28:58 that GPT um the downside of all of these
29:03 models right
29:04 now is the
29:08 Jank you're like what's the
29:10 Jank the Jank is just that all of these
29:13 tools right now are remarkably powerful

29:21 so there there's a couple of things
29:23 about chat GPT that if you haven't been
29:26 playing with it um kind of
29:29 suck one is a really subtle thing which
29:33 is if you give it a shitty prompt like
29:38 when you give
29:40 Google a shitty prompt that's kind kind
29:44 of how it's designed to work in fact
29:46 Google over 20 years trained us use less
29:50 words you know you know train train
29:54 Boston Schedule you know they trained Us
29:57 train Boston schedule and that'll it'll
29:59 go find Boston train schedules right um
30:02 chat GPT is kind of the opposite where
30:05 if you don't give it enough context
30:07 it'll give you really shitty answers so
30:10 one of the problems with chat GPT is
30:12 people go to use it and they treat it
30:15 because it looks like the Google search
30:16 box they treat chat GPT like Google you
30:19 know Boston train schedule and it gives
30:21 them some shitty shitty answer and
30:23 they're like oh I tried it it wasn't all
30:25 that good I like Google better it ain't
30:28 Google it ain't fancy Google it is a
30:30 fundamentally different thing so that's
30:32 so one thing is you have to learn how to
30:34 talk to it and you know there's thing
30:36 that people talk about called prompt
30:38 engineering which I think is a really
30:40 intimidating term and I don't like it at
30:42 all um but the way you talk to chat GPT
30:45 to get the best results is talk to it as
30:49 if you're talking to a really
30:51 well-educated
30:52 clueless
30:54 intern just have a conversation with it
30:57 tell it what you're up to tell it about
30:59 the business you're trying to start tell
31:00 it that you're trying to that you you
31:02 want to come up with a marketing plan
31:04 but you don't know anything about
31:05 marketing and just start having a
31:06 conversation with it and the more
31:08 context you give it the more shape you
31:11 give it of the idea that you know you
31:13 want it to live within the better it
31:14 gets so that's one thing it's just how
31:16 to talk to it and then the other thing
31:19 that's kind of janky about chat GPT is
31:21 that even if you mostly get it right it
31:24 will just give you wrong answers
31:26 sometimes they call it hallucinate fting
31:29 um and the the doomers or the naysayers
31:34 the AI naysayers you know they talk
31:37 about the the hallucinations like that's
31:40 a reason not to use them it's not a
31:42 reason not to use them but it is a
31:44 reason to understand that they do
31:46 that and if you're going to do something
31:49 like write a legal brief with chat GPT
31:52 be sure to check the [ __ ]
31:55 citations there was a there was a lawyer
31:57 that wrote a legal brief and handed it
31:59 to a
32:01 judge and the judge called him up to the
32:03 bench and said uh hey uh legal brief
32:06 interesting points here but uh none of
32:10 these cases seem to
32:12 exist do you think people will feel
32:15 they're fed up with AI things at some
32:18 point though we're just getting started
32:21 um I think that's a really good question
32:23 I saw who was it that wrote it today
32:28 someone decently
32:32 big forget who the [ __ ] it
32:35 was I commented on it so I can figure it
32:38 out they said
32:40 um 2024 is the equivalent of
32:44 1999 with with the worldwide web with
32:46 the hype of the worldwide web and if you
32:47 don't know that history 1999 was the
32:51 year that the internet hype was
32:53 completely boiling over and the internet
32:56 bubble burst in in April of 2000 so 1999
33:01 was sort of peak hype and what this
33:05 investor wrote was 2024 is like 1999
33:08 meaning the bubble's about to burst and
33:11 I responded I completely disagree 2024
33:15 is more like
33:17 1996 and I know these seems seem like
33:20 really weird semantic things
33:23 1996 most people didn't know what the
33:25 internet was they didn't know what the
33:26 worldwide web was
33:28 it was still like people like the
33:30 Irregulars here and like me people
33:32 trying to figure it out and talking
33:34 philosophically about what is a
33:36 hyperlink mean and was it what is why do
33:38 we call them pages and should we call
33:40 them pages and all that like we were
33:42 still in an inquiry about what the
33:44 effect the worldwide web was and why it
33:46 was
33:47 important we were not in stupid hype
33:51 1997 98 it started to get stupid I had
33:57 in must been
33:59 '98 late 97 or early 98 I had three
34:03 different employees quit my company
34:06 because they got some stupid idea funded
34:09 for 10 or20 million two of them raised
34:12 $10 million and the third one raised $20
34:15 million all three of them said hey I I
34:18 want to keep working here but uh I I
34:20 they're going to give me $10 million so
34:22 I'm going to go do this thing and I'm
34:23 like like is this a good idea they're
34:25 like oh no I was just at a party and I
34:28 kind of shared this idea and someone
34:30 said do you want $10
34:31 million that's not happening right
34:35 now we're not at the stupid phase we're
34:37 in the inquiry phase there's more
34:40 evidence of this the Ethan mullik um
34:43 report that came out 2 three months ago
34:46 uh reported that 47% of Americans
34:50 haven't even heard of chat GPT
34:53 47% that report also said that less than
34:56 2% of people use GPT on any kind of
35:00 regular basis
35:03 2% and I promise
35:06 you that those 2% most of them just use
35:11 the chat function they don't use all the
35:14 other things it can do like code
35:15 interpreter and custom gpts and things
35:18 like that so we're talking about there
35:22 there is technology in our Collective
35:24 hands right now that is stunning and
35:29 remarkable that half a percent maybe 1%
35:33 of people have any understanding
35:37 of the hype has not even
35:40 begun yeah Gary Marcus today was like
35:42 okay it's here's all my predictions I
35:44 told you it would flatten out I told you
35:45 it would Plateau it was overhyped it's
35:47 all over everything's done that

1:41:24 really clever hack on their part to not
1:41:26 use ridiculous amounts of processing
1:41:30 power but it's also kind of a cool
1:41:33 feature but what I really like about
1:41:35 this is you know if if you've heard
1:41:38 people say oh if you want to be good at
1:41:40 AI you have to get good at prompt
1:41:42 engineering uh no I you don't depending
1:41:45 on the tool you're not going to need to
1:41:47 know prompting at all in this case this
1:41:49 is entirely visual input right I went to
1:41:53 a pile of images falling out of the sky
1:41:55 I picked one I liked I said make more

1:49:12 those 20 prompts pick the two or three
1:49:14 that are interesting and then have that
1:49:16 be my starting point so instead of me
1:49:18 having to take even 5 minutes to write a
1:49:22 prompt or 10 minutes to write WR a
1:49:23 prompt and then get one thing out of it
1:49:25 I can have it write 20 pick three that
1:49:28 are really interesting that I never
1:49:29 would have thought of anyway and then
1:49:31 and then use that as my starting point
1:49:33 right so it's it's wild we're we're just

1:52:58 simple concept I think the math is quite

1:53:04 simple um and that it does what it does
1:53:09 is just staggering and you know it's
1:53:10 just basically you just train it on
1:53:12 different data and it gets better at
1:53:13 different [ __ ] it's
1:53:16 amazing one little breakthrough you know
1:53:20 built on top of decades of
1:53:24 Innovations and that's the the
1:53:26 Transformer model that Google invented
