99. 22:44performing better than us as a result we're losing lots of work so why improve Ai and taking it to the next level why
100. 22:52take I AI to the next level if all it's going to do is take our work well great question [Music]
101. 23:07um every every every every every single technological advance in the history of mankind has been met with fear and
102. 23:23trepidation that um it will ru in the world every time every [ __ ] time every time humans are resilient um is AI going
103. 23:40to be disruptive yes is AI potentially going to be profoundly disruptive yes is that disruption just going to be negative
104. 23:53no shortterm it may be so so we've created a tool that's better than we are right um the Industrial
105. 24:08Revolution made machines stronger than humans right before the Industrial Revolution you had men and women with their muscles and you had
106. 24:18animals and you did all the work with man muscles and woman muscles and animal muscles and then Along come the Industrial Revolution
107. 24:29and Along come these machines that have like 50 they they they have the power of 50 horses and I would assume that people
108. 24:40back then said well those machines are going to replace us what are we going to do and what we did was we moved to
109. 24:48cities and we created service infrastructures and and we created jobs were created that we couldn't have
110. 24:56imagined in a world where our physical um strength was required for us to do what we did in the world and then the Industrial
111. 25:08Revolution replaced us with those machines for the physical strength AI is doing the same thing for the cognitive
112. 25:17work um I think it may seem scary because I think the cognitive stuff we we always assumed you know we're the smartest
113. 25:33Critters on the planet where the apex [Music] predator so so so one thing is we're in a transition and it's going to be
114. 25:47painful and and Technology will not not evolve will yeah will not not evolve technology will evolve right it just
115. 25:55always has it always will so now that we've invented this tool that is wicked smart David Shapiro made a good point the other day no new
116. 26:06technology has ever negated artists it just gave them new forms for new artists who wanted to use them go watch what
117. 26:14timeland is doing he's a Grammy award-winning music producer and he's now embraced sunno [Music]

125. 28:06powerful it's scary we also have the compounded um societal overhead of Hollywood for the past 50 years telling us that
126. 28:21artificial intelligence was going to kill us right and so when this AI stuff started getting popular people's only knowledge of it is
127. 28:33like 2001 I'm sorry Hal I'm afraid I or I'm sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do that right um you know the AI locked
128. 28:42poor Dave out of the Space Capsule the robots are going to kill us Terminator right so we have all these cultural
129. 28:50references where the robots are going to kill us we've also got the overhead of for the past 50 years if you wanted to be an
130. 29:02AI if you wanted to do AI you essentially had to have a math degree or an engineering degree or both
131. 29:10or quadruple degrees right you had to be Wicked [ __ ] smart and wicked [ __ ] trained November 30th
132. 29:202022 unlocks that for all of us right so chat GPT makes it as simple as you type words in a box and remarkable [ __ ]
133. 29:32happens we we just use our words the word Abracadabra if you break it down what it what what it means if you translate
134. 29:41it it means as I speak so I create Abracadabra magic it's like magic as I speak so I create so we now live in
135. 29:54a world we now live in a world this is [ __ ] remarkable where we can speak we can literally speak to our computer and it
136. 30:04will create it will create words and thoughts and ideas and images and songs but most people don't know that
137. 30:17that transition happened most people still assume oh AI that you got to have a i that's that's that's Mr Smarty Pants
138. 30:27I listen I'm not very technical okay I can barely use my iPhone I wish they made the icons [Laughter] bigger right like that's most people
139. 30:38most people are like I I'm this technology is scary yeah they didn't get the memo that you just need to speak words and shit's
140. 30:49created speak and so it is so that's another piece of it that there's just this massive fear around it that once you actually understand
141. 31:01what's going on is unjustified and then there's the third thing and the third thing is the most exciting thing and it's why this channel
142. 31:13[ __ ] exists so not only is AI you know more powerful than we are but it's more power powerful
143. 31:28than we are at lots of different things which you're like well that's bad that means it's going to replace lots of
144. 31:33different things no no here's what it means it means if I Kyle in my 59 years of existence have gotten good good at three things
145. 31:45writing uh like marketing strategy and I entertaining maybe those are the three things I'm good at maybe it's five maybe you're
146. 31:56remarkable maybe you're good at five things my my friend PJ lochan's good at like seven things [ __ ] him right [ __ ] those
147. 32:03people that are Uber Ultra talented at multiple things I mean that lovingly of course with AI I can now be good at math I can now
148. 32:18be good at programming I can now be good at animal husbandry if I so choose genetic engineering if I so
149. 32:32choose and so the the thing that AI takes away our agency to do the thing that we currently do for money if it's going to take that
150. 32:44away it's also giving us so so think of it like this I'm losing the ability to monetize this particular skill or these three
151. 32:55particular skills in my case I'm gaining the ability to be world class at like 50 things and what I got to tell you is once
152. 33:11you step through the the that veil of fear with AI once you step through it and go ah [ __ ] it okay I'll try
153. 33:20it I don't think I'm smart enough the robots are going to kill us I'm not good at this I don't like feeling
154. 33:29uncomfortable once you step through that AI is so [ __ ] exciting it's so [ __ ] exciting I'm writing a musical right now I have a
155. 33:41degree in acting I moved to New York City out of school I pursued a life in the Arts I started and ran a theater company I wrote seven
156. 33:50screenplays and then I started entrepreneuring I was tired of eating macaroni and cheese and I started an agency and
157. 33:59became a professional haven't thought about the theater in 25 or 30 [ __ ] years haven't thought about it and one night here on this channel
158. 34:09someone said Hey how do you make a song on tuno and I said here let me tell you a little whippersnapper and we went in
159. 34:15and we made this little song and I had a little um prompt that I used over and over again make me a song make me a a a uh I think I said
160. 34:26make me a Broadway Way song about a lover who's more artificial than real and her name is Sydney and what that was was that was a
161. 34:36nod to the Kevin Roose article in the New York Times where he had a chat with the original Microsoft chatbot that's code name was
162. 34:46Sydney and it kind of went off the rails and told him it loved him and he should leave his wife and it made the cover of
163. 34:53the New York Times this was in January or February of 23 and it made a song that was so good that I'm like that sounds like the
164. 35:05end of the First Act of a Broadway musical and then I went wait a minute that should be a Broadway musical I'm
165. 35:10writing a [ __ ] Broadway musical on on on weekends in my spare time like my spare change and we've got like 10 songs a lot
166. 35:21of them are quite memorable we've got a script we've got a podcast that was made with notebook LM and a
167. 35:30bunch of visuals that we created in mid journey and animated and cling cling cling and that's one project that I'm
168. 35:40working on that would not have been possible without AI now let's say let's go let's go do some manifesting here
169. 35:51we'll do a little secret I speak so I create let's say that I speak this musical into exist existence and it
170. 35:59actually gets a a a workshop in New York City and then let's say that Workshop goes really well and it makes its way to
171. 36:07Off Broadway or it makes its way straight to Broadway and I got a Broadway show with an ensemble cast and a whole pit of
172. 36:16musicians and all of the support staff that make that work and all of the front of house and all the back of the house
173. 36:22people that make a Broadway show go those are all jobs that literally would not have existed had that thing not existed so the point
174. 36:35here is yes AI is going to replace some [ __ ] but it's going to also augment Us in such dramatic and unexpected
175. 36:45ways that there's going to be all sorts of new things for us to do and some of those people will pay for I personally
176. 36:52think that in-person meetings and concerts and you know the Arts and and Humanities are going to go up in value right the value of
177. 37:04of meat space right both me T and me a t meat space goes up in value when when the machines do all this
178. 37:16stuff when they do all the lowlevel work we get to hang out with one another and when we're not so stressed out that we
179. 37:23spent 45 minutes on a [ __ ] on hold with United Healthcare only to be told we had to talk to someone else and we're
180. 37:30on hold for another 10 minutes and then we get to the third person and they're like yeah I can help you and then they
181. 37:35hang up on you and you have to start over imagine if AI unfucked up that and all of the people who are
182. 37:47walking around in a [ __ ] rage because they just got off that call are no longer in that rage and rather than them seeing you at
183. 37:58Starbucks and going [ __ ] [ __ ] they actually go can I get the door for you what if AI makes the world a better [ __ ]
184. 38:11place it's a very real possibility so that's why to keep improving it that's why to take it to the next level
185. 38:20because we're humans we're going to keep improving things we're going to keep improving technology and we also are adaptable creatures we
