23:41 to be disruptive yes is AI potentially
23:44 going to be profoundly disruptive
23:47 yes is that disruption just going to be
23:51 negative
23:54 no shortterm it may
23:57 be so so we've created a tool that's
24:01 better than we are
24:04 right um the Industrial
24:08 Revolution made machines stronger than
24:11 humans right before the Industrial
24:13 Revolution you had men and women with
24:17 their muscles and you had
24:19 animals and you did all the work with
24:21 man muscles and woman muscles and animal
24:25 muscles and then Along come the
24:27 Industrial Revolution
24:30 and Along come these machines that have
24:32 like
24:34 50 they they they have the power of 50
24:38 horses and I would assume that people
24:41 back then said well those machines are
24:43 going to replace us what are we going to
24:46 do and what we did was we moved to
24:49 cities and we created service
24:51 infrastructures and and we created jobs
24:54 were created that we couldn't have
24:57 imagined in a world where our physical
25:01 um
25:02 strength was required for us to do what
25:05 we did in the world and then the
25:07 Industrial
25:08 Revolution replaced us with those
25:11 machines for the physical strength AI is
25:14 doing the same thing for the cognitive
25:17 work um I think it may seem scary
25:24 because I think the cognitive
25:27 stuff we we always
25:29 assumed you know we're the smartest
25:33 Critters on the
25:35 planet where the apex

25:42 predator so so so one thing is we're in
25:45 a transition and it's going to be
25:47 painful and and Technology will not not
25:51 evolve will yeah will not not evolve
25:53 technology will evolve right it just
25:55 always has it always will so now that
25:57 we've invented this tool that is wicked

26:04 the other day no new
26:06 technology has ever negated artists it
26:09 just gave them new forms for new artists
26:12 who wanted to use them go watch what

28:09 scary we also have the
28:14 compounded
28:15 um societal overhead of Hollywood for
28:20 the past 50 years telling us that
28:22 artificial intelligence was going to
28:24 kill us right and so
28:29 when this AI stuff started getting
28:31 popular people's only knowledge of it is
28:34 like 2001 I'm sorry Hal I'm afraid I or
28:37 I'm sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do
28:39 that right um you know the AI locked
28:43 poor Dave out of the Space Capsule the
28:46 robots are going to kill us Terminator
28:48 right so we have all these cultural
28:50 references where the robots are going to
28:52 kill us we've also got the overhead of
28:56 for the past 50 years if you wanted to
29:01 be an
29:02 AI if you wanted to do
29:05 AI you essentially had to have a math
29:08 degree or an engineering degree or both
29:11 or quadruple degrees right you had to be
29:15 Wicked [ __ ] smart and wicked [ __ ]
29:18 trained November 30th
29:21 2022 unlocks that for all of us right so
29:25 chat GPT makes it as simple as you type
29:28 words in a box and remarkable [ __ ]
29:32 happens we we just use our words the

30:50 created speak and so it
30:54 is so that's another piece of it that
30:57 there's just this massive fear around
30:59 it that once you actually understand
31:02 what's going on is
31:06 unjustified and then there's the third
31:09 thing and the third thing is the most
31:11 exciting thing and it's why this channel

31:22 so not only is AI you know more powerful
31:26 than we are but it's more power powerful
31:28 than we are at lots of different things
31:31 which you're like well that's bad that
31:33 means it's going to replace lots of
31:34 different things no no here's what it

31:40 of existence have gotten good good at
31:43 three things
31:46 writing uh like marketing strategy and I
31:51 entertaining maybe those are the three
31:53 things I'm good
31:54 at maybe it's five maybe you're
31:56 remarkable maybe you're good at five
31:58 things
31:58 my my friend PJ lochan's good at like
32:01 seven things [ __ ] him right [ __ ] those
32:04 people that are Uber Ultra talented at
32:06 multiple
32:08 things I mean that lovingly of

32:14 AI I can now be good at math I can now
32:18 be good at programming I can now be good
32:22 at animal
32:25 husbandry if I so choose genetic
32:29 engineering if I so
32:33 choose and
32:35 so the the thing that AI takes away our
32:40 agency to do the thing that we currently
32:43 do for money if it's going to take that
32:44 away it's also giving
32:47 us so so think of it like this I'm
32:51 losing the ability to monetize this
32:54 particular skill or these three
32:56 particular skills in my case
33:00 I'm gaining the ability to be world
33:02 class at like 50
33:06 things and what I got to tell you is
33:09 once
33:11 you step through the the that veil of
33:15 fear with AI once you step through it
33:17 and go ah [ __ ] it okay I'll try
33:21 it I don't think I'm smart enough the
33:24 robots are going to kill us I'm not good
33:27 at this I don't like feeling
33:29 uncomfortable once you step through that
33:32 AI is so [ __ ]
33:35 exciting it's so [ __ ] exciting I'm
33:39 writing a musical right now I have a
33:42 degree in acting I moved to New York
33:45 City out of school I pursued a life in
33:46 the Arts I started and ran a theater
33:48 company I wrote seven
33:50 screenplays and then I started
33:53 entrepreneuring I was tired of eating
33:55 macaroni and cheese and I started an
33:56 agency and
33:59 became a professional haven't thought
34:01 about the theater in 25 or 30 [ __ ]
34:03 years haven't thought about
34:06 it and one night here on this channel
34:09 someone said Hey how do you make a song
34:11 on tuno and I said here let me tell you
34:13 a little whippersnapper and we went in
34:15 and we made this little song and I had a
34:18 little um prompt that I used over and
34:21 over again make me a
34:23 song make me a a a uh I think I said
34:27 make me a Broadway Way
34:29 song about a lover who's more artificial
34:32 than real and her name is
34:34 Sydney and what that was was that was a
34:37 nod to the Kevin Roose article in the
34:39 New York Times where he had a chat with
34:43 the original Microsoft chatbot that's
34:46 code name was
34:47 Sydney and it kind of went off the rails
34:50 and told him it loved him and he should
34:51 leave his wife and it made the cover of
34:53 the New York Times this was in January
34:56 or February of 23
35:00 and it made a song that was so
35:02 good that I'm like that sounds like the
35:05 end of the First Act of a Broadway
35:07 musical and then I went wait a minute
35:09 that should be a Broadway musical I'm
35:11 writing a [ __ ] Broadway musical on on
35:13 on weekends in my spare time like my
35:17 spare
35:18 change and we've got like 10 songs a lot
35:22 of them are quite memorable we've got a
35:25 script we've got a podcast
35:28 that was made with notebook LM and a
35:30 bunch of visuals that we created in mid
35:33 journey and animated and cling cling
35:36 cling and that's one project that I'm
35:40 working on that would not have been
35:44 possible without AI now let's say let's
35:48 go let's go do some manifesting here
35:51 we'll do a little secret I speak so I
35:54 create let's say that I speak this
35:57 musical into exist existence and it
35:59 actually gets a a a workshop in New York
36:03 City and then let's say that Workshop
36:05 goes really well and it makes its way to
36:08 Off Broadway or it makes its way
36:09 straight to
36:11 Broadway and I got a Broadway show with
36:13 an ensemble cast and a whole pit of
36:17 musicians and all of the support staff
36:19 that make that work and all of the front
36:21 of house and all the back of the house
36:23 people that make a Broadway show
36:25 go those are all jobs
36:29 that literally would not have existed
36:32 had that thing not existed so the point
36:35 here is yes AI is going to replace some
36:38 [ __ ] but it's going to also augment Us
36:41 in such dramatic and unexpected
36:45 ways that there's going to be all sorts
36:47 of new things for us to do and some of
36:49 those people will pay for I personally
36:52 think that in-person meetings and
36:54 concerts and you know the Arts and and
36:58 Humanities are going to go up in
37:01 value right the value of
37:05 of meat space right both me T and me a t
37:11 meat space goes up in
37:14 value when when the machines do all this
37:17 stuff when they do all the lowlevel work
37:20 we get to hang out with one another and
37:22 when we're not so stressed out that we
37:23 spent 45 minutes on a [ __ ] on hold
37:27 with United Healthcare only to be told
37:29 we had to talk to someone else and we're
37:30 on hold for another 10 minutes and then
37:33 we get to the third person and they're
37:34 like yeah I can help you and then they
37:36 hang up on you and you have to start
37:38 over
37:39 imagine if AI unfucked up
37:45 that and all of the people who are
37:48 walking around in a [ __ ] rage because
37:51 they just got off that call are no
37:54 longer in that
37:55 rage and rather than them seeing you at
37:58 Starbucks and going [ __ ]

38:05 the door for
38:08 you what if AI makes the world a better

38:12 place it's a very real possibility
38:15 so that's why to keep improving it
38:19 that's why to take it to the next level
38:21 because we're humans we're going to keep
38:23 improving things we're going to keep
38:25 improving technology
38:28 and we also are adaptable creatures we
38:31 will adapt to the new ways it just we
38:33 can't see what the future looks like so
