20. 4:18they said uh it's it's like a TV show um on on on on Tik Tock um and very few people watching it's small audience uh I
21. 4:32was desperate they were paying nothing and I I said I'll take it I'll take it I will take it okay [Laughter]
22. 4:44so my Mr it it's our second Christmas together fantastic yeah so this is I'm gonna take tomorrow and Christmas off and then boy

25. 5:14line I need to get into a uh everyday life hacks um AI life hacks session because maybe this is what you did I I'm
26. 5:26pretty sure I invented this so not for nothing this is proprietary uh intellectual property okay so you know how the misses will text you 27
27. 5:37items in a text and they're all in some random order that has nothing to do with how the store is laid out you know that
28. 5:45text right and then you know how that text is followed up with the four other texts after it and then the fifth one
29. 5:52after that while you're halfway through the store with three other items in it no you take all those you you just copy
30. 6:00paste that crap right into chat GPT you say organize it by grocery store squit out it comes fantastic then I copy and paste it
31. 6:09from chat GPT into notes and I can I can check off my little checklist it's all organized that used to be it used to be
32. 6:17one of the most anxious tense I'm like what do you want now I'm just like I'll just add it into the pre-organized list it's fantastic

36. 7:22business es branding I made an entire website using chat gbt today the AGI prediction at at the end of it oh yeah yeah they
37. 7:33um I I actually find it I find it fascinating well a couple of things Gary Marcus did not disappoint and [ __ ] all
38. 7:47over [ __ ] all over 03 going it's not AGI they faked it they faked it they faked it I told you so I told you so I told
39. 7:54you so he's such a miserable man I'm sure he is lovely in person uh and I'm sure being in a family with him is incredible um but but
40. 8:07uh like I thought that the I thought that the announcement was incredibly powerful but but if you look just a little bit under the
41. 8:18surface a single answer for them to hit that 87.5% on the AR AGI test was about $3,200 they spent like 1 1 million um to
42. 8:31answer all the questions to hit that 87% number um so that I mean that just says to me it's early they're going to
43. 8:38optimize it and a year from now we'll we'll get we'll reap the benefits of that but man like so many people are
44. 8:45just like AGI has been hit the world has changed everything is different and I think it was actually Sam Alman that said something something
45. 8:55along the lines of you know we may not know exactly when we hit it and and when we do it's you know it's likely going to be a
46. 9:04Continuum most people are not going to notice it and if you if you look at the announcement that they made what did
47. 9:12they talk about they talked about obscure mathematics equations right most people looking at that like all of us
48. 9:19hanging out here just trying to figure out how do I use chat GPT to make sure make a picture of my dog's butt like we're not going to use 03
49. 9:30and it's okay it's okay this like this is I have come to a realization probably I don't know three or four months ago
50. 9:39when when 01 preview came out I'm like oh there are going to be some of these things that just everyday people don't
51. 9:46need to worry about at all let them go figure out free energy let them go solve all the diseases let them right people
52. 9:55who have those skills are they need that bigger model we don't so anyway but like I find it fascinating how how big a deal that was made all
53. 10:05right new Tik Tock pin oh yeah hang on switch cams sorry about that I'm just I'm just trying to figure this out I've only been doing
54. 10:15I've only been in this new role as um as as educator and chief uh for about a week I don't know how to quite work the
55. 10:24cameras or anything I'm just I'm really here just as a fill in for uh for you know educ educational educational Ed edutainment kind of
56. 10:34situation all right bismil mahadi which country is most technologically [Music] innovated um that's a fascinating
57. 10:48question I mean certainly I think the US is up there in terms of generative AI the leading models but
58. 10:59if you look at the speed the speed with which China is basically replicating everything else that they see is pretty remarkable um
59. 11:11the advantage that China has is they can do whatever the hell they want right you know in America we've got you know these
60. 11:17pesky legislators that are like wow we're not going to let you steal data with the world's largest plagiarism
61. 11:24machine there let's uh let's go ahead and regulate that and lock that bad boy down okay let's be responsible with our data
62. 11:32usage um we haven't done that yet thank goodness um I mean I would say I would say right now it's it's the US and
63. 11:44China um and there's probably a fair amount China has that we don't know about and I that's actually really
64. 11:50curious I'm curious Cindy [ __ ] might know the answer to this I think I know the answer to this you know I think I think our
65. 11:59government and Military probably have ai that we don't know about that's more like traditional AI like military
66. 12:05applications of it it's not necessarily generative AI um I would say with generative AI the US is is in the clear lead there but [Music]
67. 12:27anyway the next war will be a AI yeah if I'll tell you what if you looked at have you seen the we'll come

73. 13:30images of celebrities it just doesn't care and it'll make you images of Brands um so I just wrote an article uh on on
74. 13:38LinkedIn called do you know who your Rick Rubin [Laughter] are oh
75. 13:53[Music] so here's what we do here if you're new here got a few people here tonight there's a couple of things going on and
76. 14:09Murphy's gonna come come on we're going to talk about AI festiv us so this Friday and Saturday if you're not doing
77. 14:15anything and quite frankly even if you are this might be a good excuse to escape the family um we're doing this thing called
78. 14:22AI Festivus which is 24 hours of programming spread across two days so 12 hours on Friday 12 hours on Saturday

80. 14:41how many registrations we've had in fact we actually had to change how we're producing the event because we thought
81. 14:48we were G to have one class of audience size and we moved up I don't know an order of magnitude higher higher than than I
82. 14:58thought we would have uh which is super exciting it's super exciting um but it's just it's going to be a fantastic day
83. 15:07it's 34 separate speakers every hour is a different panel or Workshop or demo for just 12 hours straight and then and
84. 15:17then the next day same thing so if you're trying to get your head around AI my my uh we were talking today about
85. 15:25like you know how are people going to do this and you know I figure with most things like this what you'll probably do
86. 15:30is you'll you'll pick I want to go to that one and that one and that one and then you'll put those in your calendar I
87. 15:36think what you should do is just show up and uh just leave it on all day like leave it in the background if you're not
88. 15:43interested in something get up and walk away but just like let the let the osmosis of AI optimism and and the
89. 15:52generosity of these communities we actually pulled together there's people from the AI salon that are presenting people from she
90. 16:01leads AI um people from Rachel Woods's uh AI exchange group and people from the marketing AI institutes uh Paul raters
91. 16:10group um are all presenting and they're like they're all volunteering their time on a holiday weekend to just make a
92. 16:17really cool event for anyone who wants to come and we've got a lot so so go sign up for that and then when Ann gets
93. 16:24here we'll we'll talk about it but um so the other thing we do here is you know feel free free to just if you have
94. 16:30questions about AI or if you want me to you know give my opinion on something we're never shy on that um in fact the
95. 16:38the Rick Rubin thing that I was talking about earlier the article that I wrote me see if I have it here yeah here it is oh no just got rid

99. 17:34producer um you know Grammy awardwinning incredibly trusted and he's kind of famous for um this I have no technical ability I
100. 17:47know nothing about music I don't know how to play an instrument I don't know how to work a recording console and I
101. 17:54don't know how to use a computer for recording right and and what what what the article's basically talking about is as AI technology gets
102. 18:06better in today's work environment and in today's society quite frankly we value specialization we pay more for Specialists than we do for
103. 18:17generalists and that iceberg is about to flip upside down and so that's what this article is about and and what why people
104. 18:26hire Rick is for this next quote of his I know what I like and what I don't like and I'm decisive about what I like and
105. 18:34what I don't like so basically musicians make their music and he goes nah not feeling it it's not truthful I don't buy it
106. 18:46nah and then they do another one he goes that's closer but nah then at some point he's like yeah I'm feeling that let's
107. 18:54let's work on that one and that's what he does and that's the role that is going to be the most valuable moving forward because the AIS
108. 19:03are going to do the Tactical execution and it's going to be someone's job to look at the output of those things and go that's good that one
109. 19:11doesn't quite hit the mark right and if you if you know anything about AI if you know people that are good at it they
110. 19:16tend to be like that so so who are your Rick Rubin and and you know are you a Rick Rubin and if not what skills do you need
111. 19:27to develop to be better at that right Genie in a Bottle get behind the screen door I don't know what that
112. 19:43means uh any alternatives for lovable. deev yes your camera has a weird gradient really
113. 19:58which one this one I can I can [Music] stop I can quit the Tik Tock and come back in all right ticktockers I'm gonna
114. 20:15leave I'm gonna shut it down and come back in all right been a Rick Rubin fan my whole life oh I've been a rick ruin my whole

119. 21:22diary here's what I feel no one can judge that because I might read it to you and I'm like well that's what I I wrote that in
120. 21:31my diary and he'd be like oh yeah well that's that's a valid opinion and he said everything you put in the world can be
121. 21:40that and that like that's his job like his job is to have a point of view it's it's literally to be himself and to be
122. 21:56unashamed of what he feels in the moment that's his job I I find that a remarkable life a remarkable choice in life I think it's a really
123. 22:12non-obvious way to go through life and just the more I think about it the more I think this is the skill this
124. 22:19is going to be the skill five years from now that's going to be the most highly rewarded Michelle M Silva see this is where educational
125. 22:29institutions are going to struggle because you don't teach a Rick Rubin on a particular subject he didn't major
126. 22:35indecisiveness in college I Michelle you are like 1,000% on the money and it breaks my [ __ ] heart actually you
127. 22:45know what's funny right before this I was watching Dead Poet Society my son believe it or not had never seen Dead Poet
128. 22:54Society and Dead Poet Society is is is the same conversation right Robin Williams is the one teaching them to like feel that who are
129. 23:07they don't walk with the beat of the other drummers and that's not and the school rejected him and right and it caused all sorts of
130. 23:20strife I totally agree with you let that and and quite frankly so so yes I agree that's where educational institution
131. 23:30institutions are going to fall on their face and there's a huge [ __ ] opportunity huge opportunity right start a university
132. 23:47that that that the the graduates are have Masters in critical thinking right in taste in judgment in
133. 24:01[Music] decisiveness because business is not going to reward this like why I wrote the article was I think most businesses are going to do
134. 24:16what most businesses have done for the past 150 years which is we want you more efficient we want you more skilled we
135. 24:24want you to be a cog in our machine's wheel and AI is going to [ __ ] all that up man the the death th the death throws of the
136. 24:37establishment are going to be insane we don't allow stud students to find their passions critical thinking comes from
137. 24:43following a passion totally agree totally agree Source Camp I've done this as a creative director a general
138. 24:51contractor and now an AI agent yep yeah Source Camp you're the ultimate Rick rubben you like um Cav Runo is Vicky
139. 24:59Baptist is like there I I would say that if you want to find a high concentration of Rick Rubin in the world come to the

141. 25:18that says join our community we just cracked it 2,000 people um this is a community of AI op optimists and people who are genuinely
142. 25:31curious and adventurous and brave and and and just have fun like have fun with AI do what they want to [ __ ] do like
143. 25:43RI Rick Ruben's one of those kind of guys that you get the sense like someone might be the biggest musician in the
144. 25:50world and if he meets them and they're a douche to him or he just doesn't Vibe with them you think he's going to produce their
145. 26:00music nah he's good he's going to wish him luck he's going to be polite send them on their way someone else is Gonna Come Along
146. 26:10that's just like yeah yeah he likes them he's like yeah I like your Vibe let's why don't we spend some time you want to
147. 26:17do that now like I just get that sense he's just like a you want to do that now that's what the salon's like it's
148. 26:23full of people like that it's amazing so you should go you should go join that we'll talk a little bit more about that
149. 26:31Brandon I spent 15 hours this weekend collaborating with chat GPT on screenwriting it's so good at that it's so good at that it's so good
150. 26:41at this is the thing I'm most excited about with all of the AI tools is is not the initial idea like it helps you get the initial idea
151. 26:54out but it's like remember before I was talking about Rick ruin is like like yeah that song I don't like it that song
152. 26:59that's closer but I don't like it that's oh that that's good let's work on that one I think the thing that generative AI
153. 27:06is the best at is when you have an idea that you actually kind of you kind of know what you want and you have that
154. 27:12feeling in your core like yeah this is a good idea you can look at the output of generative Ai and instantly know is that
155. 27:21it is it right or not like like we're you know I'm working on this musical Sydney with with my writing partner and
156. 27:28true and when we do scenes it's it's it's exactly like that when we do music we we talk about what is the scene
157. 27:36what's it feel like what's it feel like and then we go just make piles and piles and piles of music and then occasionally one will
158. 27:45just be like oh yeah that's it that's it it's really cool and like it's funny like when sometimes Andrew and I will have a
159. 27:56similar understanding of a and we'll both go yeah that's it and then sometimes we won't and I'll go oh that's it he's
160. 28:05like I was like oh what do you think it is and then we have a conversation and then it's critical thinking and again this is one of the
161. 28:15misconceptions about AI is they're like oh it takes away the creativity you just push a button and it squirts out a thing
162. 28:22well you push a button and it squirts out something but most of the time it squirts out diarrhea sorry for the poop reference around the
163. 28:30holidays but it is most of what AI generates is a piece of [ __ ] it's your job to go oh there's there's a nugget here that's worth worth
164. 28:42finding ah here's here's a piece so anyway that's what I find exciting about it I find it incredibly creative because I'm kind of just in
165. 28:54Rick rubben mode all right [Music] [Applause] exponential creativity is so
166. 29:10exciting you know what's funny Silver Fox is it's so it is so counterintuitive it is so counterintuitive when I first started
167. 29:21the Tik Tok Channel most of the comments were because I I was excited I'm like this stuff is so creative it does all
168. 29:29this creative stuff and almost all of the comments were some version of well if it's that creative what are you
169. 29:36supposed to do doesn't it make you less creative if it's that creative nope [Music]

180. 31:45have to meet her but that's not important right now an and I okay we go way back so Anne's been part of the
181. 31:52salon for forever and um has an amazing group called she leads AI which you should check out absolutely and so last
182. 32:01year an and I sort of on a lark no I I sort of had a larky idea and then I called you up and I said I said what do
183. 32:11you thinking you're like I'm in let's go uh like two weeks before this weekend last year I said you want to teach
184. 32:18people how to make GPT she goes let's do it so you just jumped in with this amazing enthusiasm and we put on this
185. 32:24event and this community made what 150 custom gpts for nonprofits and it we just tossed it together and so this year
186. 32:34um an and I have teamed up again and I I will let you talk about what we're doing I I showed the website earlier but
187. 32:42please jump in and talk about what we're uh tell the PE tell the nice people about this Extravaganza exactly tell the
188. 32:50nice people what we're up to and you know there's a part of me that's really excited and proud and there's a part of me that's just like
189. 32:57like we're just [ __ ] nuts what are we doing I was thinking about it today and I was like you know we probably could
190. 33:08have quit at like I don't know 20 speakers but I but you know 34 is is better I guess you know 20 is good 34 is better more is
191. 33:22better more is better and so it's so it's this Friday and Saturday the 27th and 28 8 and look the website still says
192. 33:309:00 a. to 8:00 pm. which would have worked had an stopped but she didn't so so we're now going from 900 am
193. 33:40to 900 pm on Friday and Saturday and it's basically just a workshop an hour right a workshop or a panel or like like
194. 33:48yep yes yes indeed you can plan on pretty much on the hour give or take you know 15 minutes here or there a change
195. 34:00of scenery so you know you'll get to know one Workshop presenter you'll get to know one topic and then you're going
196. 34:06to go to the next and you're going to go to the next and I tried to organize them so we could go from like right brain to
197. 34:15left brain a little bit oh that's pretty slick I didn't yeah I didn't know you actually thought about this I did well
198. 34:23other not how I normally work but I I if I'm working with you I'll make the exception the putting the putting
199. 34:30thought into something really not on brand for AI learning lab well it was that and and just the algorithm like I like I shared with you
200. 34:43I ended up using cat gp01 to reason through everybody's particular availability which oftentimes was you know kind
201. 34:55of well um quirky quirky because that's what we are it is the holidays we're trying to get 30 people to commit an hour on on a holiday
202. 35:09weekend yeah exactly exactly so this is an example of when AI did something that my brain absolutely could not have done
203. 35:18which is to somehow or another cross reference 34 people's schedules to find a calendar to get a calendar that work
204. 35:27worked for all of them and I have I mean point of Pride here I don't care how the rest of it goes not a single person has
205. 35:34written to me asking to change their time wow yeah it's funny before you got on I was talking about I think one of
206. 35:41the killer the killer apps of of generative AI is organizing my wife's incomprehensible text messages at the
207. 35:48grocery store into sessions of the grocery store and this is like the grown-up version of that right like like know
208. 35:56plan this event I it's brilliant for that loved it I you know I've been wondering how some event organizers do so many things
209. 36:08and I mean AI has made it so much so doable so doable we're able to we're able to put on this event for a song and
210. 36:21in no time at all and I'm just kind of comparing and contrasting the professional Summit firms what they charge and how many people
211. 36:30they have and what marketing channels they have and given that we have somehow or another 2,000 people registered yeah
212. 36:37I didn't let every everyone know I said it was going well like we have we have more than 2,000 people have signed up
213. 36:43for this thing like it is it's to the point that we had to change our Zoom strategy so so actually you know what I
214. 36:53you and I talked a lot about logistics today but I didn't get a chance to ask you this and I think it'd be for
215. 36:57everyone to hear it so at at one point I don't know a month or so ago you and I said oh we should do it we kind of had
216. 37:06this idea and I'm like I'm like great like like you and I always do we'll come up with an idea like we should do that
217. 37:11and then we go off and our lives happen and you know it it doesn't right and then you came back like two weeks later
218. 37:17and you're like so we're doing this thing I got a bunch of ideas we're gonna call it AI Festivus and I have a team
219. 37:21put together and you're like let me run with it and then like you disappeared for two weeks and like what came out was
220. 37:28this fully completed fully executed website the full plan 34 speakers I sort of woke up like oh should I do something
221. 37:38here do you want to talk about what you've been doing in these mysterious two weeks and how you've done this because it's it's
222. 37:45amazing I I will share a couple of things because I do think that there are a few things that I learned along the
223. 37:53way that are pretty Universal right anyone planning any event could use some of these techniques and one of the
224. 38:02things I should add right off the bat that one of the things we missed that we will never make this mistake again is the some of the
225. 38:13accessibility issues so we have a website that's not accessible to some to some folks and that is not okay with us
226. 38:22we made an error we will do much better next time we're moving quickly and and we we will do better next time so that's
227. 38:33one of the things that I've learned and one of the things that I put in the back of my mind and shame on Chad GPT for not telling me that
228. 38:42but so what we did is we started with thinking about what what do we want to accomplish for our guests what do we
229. 38:55want to do and what would that look like in reality so we wanted to provide a sense of community right we always want
230. 39:02we always say or I always say that you need three things to be quote unquote good at AI one is a curious mind the
231. 39:10other is a willingness to be vulnerable and the third is community so it was like all right everybody needs to feel
232. 39:17like they are part of a community this is not just a you know this is not just another you know dumb webinar that we've all gone to to
233. 39:27over the course of the last two years yep so I wanted it to have personality and I wanted it to have a Vibe and I
234. 39:34wanted people to feel like they were part of something cool that it wasn't like this corporate everybody's you know
235. 39:40whatever yep so we were like okay what do we want and then we thought about who are the people who we know who you know
236. 39:48can deliver on this and won't be worried that there's like no turnaround time and you know crazy ones who are the ones and
237. 39:58like are they in our community and stuff because we wanted to have the opportunity to give people a platform
238. 40:05who may not typically be up in front of now you know 7even 800 900 a thousand people in any one point in time so we
239. 40:14were like okay who can we who can we provide with some new opportunities some people care about that so what was so
240. 40:22fascinating to me about this is if you look at those 34 speakers every single person is a relationship that we have
241. 40:31that like part of the you know AI Salon part of AI you know x with Rachel Woods you know Community part part of um
242. 40:42marketing AI with Paul reter's Community part of she leads AI it was like wow we know a lot of people who are doing
243. 40:50really dope stuff that everybody doesn't necessarily know about y so there was that then we did the speaker Outreach
244. 40:57which Kyle uh you know eventually did and I feel miserably at one point and you're so polite at one point Ann

275. 44:57do is we've got we're setting up actually Vicky and I talked about this today we're setting up a um a special AI festiv a space on the
276. 45:07AI Salon that's going to be a place for you to network so you can go in there and chat with people we're going to have
277. 45:13speakers go in there there's also a showand tell area within that space so as you're learning things throughout the
278. 45:20day one of the other things that I I mean that's what the AI learning lab is all about is I sort of ramble and while
279. 45:26I'm rambling you should be building right and sharing things we're going to have this space on the AI Salon where
280. 45:31you can share your work and then that'll also be a space after the event where you can go find recordings of the
281. 45:38sessions where you can find power you know PDFs of the the Decks that people presented um so there's a whole Space
282. 45:46where you can have kind of asynchronous conversations plus that gives you access to the AI salon and all that's in there
283. 45:52and um so it's it's going to be it's going to be really amazing so I'm really good and thrilled a couple a couple of
284. 46:00the changes that we made we're just like operating on the Fly everybody so we appreciate the sense of adventure that
285. 46:06all the I'm referring every to everybody as fian if you come to this yes very nice you are you are a fian so
286. 46:15we appreciate the sense of adventure because now that we have 2,000 people registered a few things have needed to change along the way
287. 46:27and if anyone's curious about how you know we got a big bump in attendance because Kyle and I were like hey let's
288. 46:34try to get three to 500 people there and we got we hit like 170 I was like oh my God we're we're doing so great um one of
289. 46:45the things that happened it again it goes back to relationships so Sabrina renov is an amazing like she contributes
290. 46:54so much to the AI Community she teaches all kinds of stuff for free she has a great platform where you get to go to
291. 47:01her master classes and she will personally review your social media Etc and um she loves promoting free events particularly you know
292. 47:12like particularly in her case for women by women because that's you know what she wants to grow and so she posted on
293. 47:20Tik Tok and the post went bananas like 3,700 people saved it so it kind of went viral and for I stayed up really late on
294. 47:30the first night going watching one one person register per minute and just going like oh my God like I don't even
295. 47:38know if my email registration system like I don't even know what the top number is so pretty cool we had to we
296. 47:45had to upgrade all of our all of the stuff we thought we could get away with a $10 subscription uhuh and it goes up
297. 47:52precipitously when you start hitting thousands yes oh my God yeah they don't mess around when you get to a certain
298. 47:59point they're just like oh we got you you definitely need this so we're just going to charge you whatever we feel
299. 48:05like yeah exactly oh you wanted this to work that would be [Laughter] more oh man so other thoughts any thoughts yeah
300. 48:20um so what I would do is I don't think we have posted the schedule yes there we it's there okay so okay there it is so what I would do is oh

314. 50:24think's the biggie is this one empathy as people people come in people are going to be scared they might be angry about AI they might have
315. 50:31misunderstandings about it or make presumptions about it so as people come in yeah I think it's a great point we
316. 50:37should encourage people to welcome them when they introduce themselves and if someone's you know off base or out of
317. 50:43line or whatever you know rather than demonize them just understand where they're coming from and right yeah and I
318. 50:50think that playfulness that we have in the salon is such an important well yeah playfulness so you know yeah you're going to get people
319. 50:59coming in here going like you know the nerdy conversations that the Irregulars have right but also we're kind of
320. 51:07irreverent so you may get the super nerds you may get the super irreverent but we are going to model the values of
321. 51:16the salon as we as we welcome a whole bunch of new people that's what I'm that's kind of what I'm thinking is like
322. 51:22how yeah it's the next step so bringing people especially some of these Wayward Souls who don't have a community yet y
