7:00 can't keep up with how are you supposed
7:01 to learn technology that's changing
7:03 every two
7:04 weeks um how are you supposed to not
7:07 just get completely overwhelmed and and
7:13 intimidated and and the answer is play
7:15 the answer is don't take it so seriously
7:18 just just play with tools and Inspire
7:21 yourself and and just
7:23 unlock unlock
7:25 creativity um in in everything you do
7:29 and that and and that that that's kind
7:32 of the key so it was good it was good
7:35 and be con and constipated with AI yeah
7:37 exactly that you can get very
7:39 constipated with it you can it's it's
7:41 it's funny chat GPT is very much like a
7:44 blank piece of paper right cuz it can do
7:46 anything you know so can a blank piece
7:49 of paper right little blank piece of
7:51 paper can be pretty intimidating well
7:54 what do I write on it I could write
7:55 anything what if it's not the Great
7:57 American novel right and you don't write
8:00 anything that's kind of like chat GPT
8:03 what do I prompt it to say what do I do
8:05 with
8:05 it and so we talked a lot about that
8:09 talked a little bit about the
8:11 origin of chat GPT and little historical
8:14 context talked a little bit about how it
8:16 works which is wild if you don't know
8:19 how chat GPT works it's absolutely
8:24 insane once you get it it's even more um
8:29 remark able what it
8:32 does Google pre6
8:35 2016 or 2008 was better yeah Google's
8:40 completely useless at this point it's
8:42 it's really bad ai ai seems so overrated
8:46 I was just using chat GPT to learn about
8:49 secret societies nothing
8:52 Well certain topics it's got safety
8:56 guard rails in and so it's not going to
8:58 go there if you want to run down
9:00 conspiracy theory holes then go get
9:03 yourself an unrestricted version of
9:05 llama and I'm sure you can I'm sure it
9:08 will be much much more
9:13 pleasing you got to understand these you
9:15 know the commercial entities are you
9:19 know are are not going to have their
9:21 their large language models do things
9:23 that could get them in trouble right you
9:26 know as little as possible so they've
9:28 got safety guard rails on them for stuff
9:30 like that uh will the play shop be

9:35 fact Brandon it was was funny I was
9:36 thinking of you um it is going to be for
9:39 sale and we're going to do an affiliate

10:43 ears I don't we don't know like it seems

10:56 ask meta AI for an extensive list of the
10:59 best go and girls on

11:13 owned AI not a.net but. AI I don't think
11:18 owning the domain name does anything I
11:20 asked chat GPT for opinions on
11:22 standardized education it gave me a very
11:25 honest opinion well one of the things
11:29 that
11:30 that
11:32 um chat GPT well all all large language
11:35 models are decent
11:38 at is it will give you
11:41 non-emotional um arguments to just to
11:45 explain stuff if you ask it to explain
11:47 something to you it doesn't do it with
11:49 emotion which is unlike humans right if
11:52 you ask humans to talk about certain
11:57 topics um
12:00 it is a risky business because you know
12:03 our country has been polarized and
12:09 informationized and so there are certain
12:12 words that are trigger words in our
12:13 society now on on all sides of the
12:17 conversation and you can't you literally
12:19 can't talk about certain topics um and
12:23 that's not so with these large language
12:25 models so I actually think that um
12:30 people that actually
12:34 have you know real questions about those
12:40 topics are going to be able to actually
12:43 get educated on them and I think that's
12:44 a good thing I you know I find it quite
12:47 amazing I it was one of the things that
12:49 kind of caught me off guard with it is I
12:51 would be like typing into chat GPT and I
12:54 would be afraid of certain topics I'm
12:56 like oh this is one of those touchy
12:58 topics and it didn't respond with any
13:00 emotion it just said here's the answer
13:02 to your question I'm like oh that's
13:04 refreshing right I don't have to get
13:06 defensive about asking a question uh we
13:09 just hired a few interns to work on new
13:11 AI project and 500 applications were
13:14 submitted
13:16 wow huh
13:19 interesting I how many how many of them
13:21 were claiming 10 years AI
13:27 experience how many of those
13:28 applications were were written by
13:31 [Laughter]
13:33 AI it's really funny um it's not funny
13:37 it's really [ __ ] up LinkedIn because
13:40 LinkedIn added the right right you know
13:43 comment for me using
13:44 AI just people are commenting on posts I
13:48 do that are just they're it's people I
13:50 don't
13:51 know you know very often from you
13:55 know lands far far away and all the
14:00 answers are identical slight slight word
14:02 changes but it's all AI generated [ __ ]

14:06 awful oh you can learn a lot of info
14:08 from chat Bots I love it yeah exactly
14:10 how do you
14:13 qualify how do you qualify who can
14:17 actually use it well oh yeah that's
14:19 that's a good
14:21 question all of them all of them used AI
14:24 to write write their
14:27 resumés actually who you should hire is
14:30 the one person out of 50 that didn't use
14:33 AI to write write their thing and then
14:37 you should write an AI response letter
14:39 to the other 49 that said we hired the
14:41 person that didn't use Ai and then and
14:44 then say no this this rejection letter
14:46 was written by

14:52 AI oh man someone is prototyping a
14:55 Marketplace that will allow AI to hire
14:57 humans to do things it can't do I saw
14:59 that Brandon yeah it's um it's a I
15:02 forget what the company's called but
15:04 it's it's a bunch of autonomous AI
15:07 agents that go off and do stuff for
15:10 people and then when it gets stuck when
15:13 it can't do something it actually has
15:15 its own little bank account or its own
15:17 little its own little slush fund and it
15:20 can hire humans to do tasks that it
15:22 can't
15:23 do payman that's it yeah
15:27 exactly I I hav't checked it out yet but
15:30 I I think it's actually a pretty
15:31 brilliant idea right like until these
15:34 autonomous agents get good there's going
15:36 to be certain things they can't do and
15:39 even when they get good there's still
15:40 going to be certain things they can't do
15:42 and
15:43 so it's just going to hire
15:48 people oh man kind of like hiring an
15:50 unknown SEO company exactly
15:53 exactly and if you
15:56 know if in order to buy some of that SEO
16:00 sweet sweet media dollars you've got to
16:02 talk to someone in person you know it'll
16:05 hire a person to make that
16:09 call it's just crazy can I create video
16:12 clips with AI like we generate images
16:15 yes you can in fact here let me show you

16:21 meta um AI just meta doai so this is
16:26 this is from Facebook and it's just like
16:29 chat GPT so you can just say you know
16:32 write a
16:35 poem and it'll write a
16:38 poem let's see how let's see how

16:42 through wait filter through a gentle
16:44 breeze rustles a new the trees awake
16:46 from their sleep a spring sweet magic
16:48 starts to creep that's that is solid
16:51 fourth grade poetry it's nice um but you
16:56 can it can also make images and so all

17:07 violin it's pretty quick it's
17:11 free and boom there's
17:15 that cute and then you can just click
17:17 this animate button and now look it's
17:21 going to suck
17:22 okay but it's free and it makes video by

17:32 bow over the strings well through the
17:35 violin through the force field of the
17:43 violin that's pretty

17:49 quickly into an editing sequence and you
17:52 wouldn't know that that wasn't real um
17:54 it also watermarks it so you can do it
17:56 with that you can do it uh there there's
17:59 a bunch of tools that do it um Leonardo

18:04 is

19:22 wheels so so they it'll get the smoke

20:43 is pretty good at it um because it's got
20:46 a Gemini so a way to do this is just go
20:51 to
20:53 YouTube and get the transcript of
20:56 your video and then go go into Gemini
21:00 Pro 1.5 Pro which has a million token
21:03 context window and just paste it in
21:07 there it's
21:09 amazing cuz cuz a million tokens is is
21:12 like you know many many many many many
21:15 pages way way more than your podcast
21:18 like even if you have a six-hour podcast
21:20 it can probably just ingest that whole
21:23 whole thing and summarize it for you oh
21:26 look it's a dragster from 1962

28:16 with the ball at his feet wearing an

28:26 can just say remix and it'll just use

28:31 prompt as a starting point and get going
28:34 or you can just type in anything you
28:36 want it's also got these little things

40:09 um they give you access to lots and lots
40:12 of models they have the equivalent of
40:16 gpts they call them Poots you can make a
40:20 chatbot um you can monetize your
40:23 chatbots and your chatbots do not
40:26 require the end user to have a
40:28 subscription so there's a couple of
40:30 things that Po's doing that it's
40:32 actually doing better hit F5 oh yeah I
40:35 know yeah there's a couple of things
40:37 that it's doing better than chat GPT
40:41 um I'm not a huge fan of the interface
40:44 it feels a little bit like play you know
40:48 preschool play play school kind of kind
40:51 of interface to me but it's gotten a bit
40:54 better um and it's just got it's got all
40:56 these Bots that people have made and
40:58 it's got its own Bots and it's got all
41:00 these models you can try and it's really
41:02 easy to make a bot so um I'd
41:10 say as a primary if you're only going to
41:13 have one
41:15 subscription I would subscribe to chat
41:18 GPT
41:20 but if you want to not dick with a bunch
41:23 of other sites you could just use po you
41:27 could just subscribe to PO and then
41:29 you've got access to like here's all the
41:31 Claude models Claude 3 Sonet Haiku and
41:34 Opus here's GPT 4 here's playground 2.5
41:39 which is an image generation model
41:40 here's Gemini 1.5 Pro here's Dolly 3

56:49 got this diary from like the
56:52 1840s of of the grandfather and it's got
56:55 these Amazing Stories in it and so so
56:56 he's like he wanted to make like
56:58 pictures right and we're like well you
57:01 know take that diary and like have chat
57:03 GPT analyze it and make songs out of it
57:06 you know here's song lyrics here's short
57:08 stories out of it here's a screenplay
57:11 here's a Broadway musical right and then
57:14 go to these different tools and and you
57:16 just sort of go around the around the
57:18 Ring of what's possible and it every
57:20 stop along the way sort of blow the
57:22 doors off the idea and so it was it was
57:26 just the idea of worry less about what
57:29 the tools are and more about how you're
57:31 thinking about how you can express any
57:34 idea that you want and it was one of the
57:36 one of the things that was really
57:38 interesting one of the women that came
57:41 um you know we did a writing exercise
57:44 about like what are your project ideas
57:46 like what you know what's something that
57:47 you want to do and she was like I don't
57:49 really know like I just I just know I
57:51 want to do stuff with AI and so with her
57:53 we talked about we'll use chat GPT to
57:56 give you 20 ideas right and then take
57:59 one of those ideas and blow it out it

1:15:40 link to a letter so the Colorado Senate
1:15:44 is trying to rush a bill through uh
1:15:47 that's an AI bill that would absolutely
1:15:50 stifle innovation in Colorado so
1:15:52 especially if you're from Colorado but
1:15:54 even if you're not
1:15:56 um go to that link and here's the letter
1:15:59 here's the link to the the bill but the
1:16:01 the letter is pretty self-explanatory it
1:16:03 basically just says the the the uh the
1:16:07 political equivalent of hey um swell
1:16:11 that you got this bill a shame you have
1:16:12 your head up your
1:16:14 ass and here are some of the specific
1:16:17 things you know in the bill that we
1:16:18 think are really problematic for for
1:16:21 Innovation and and what it's got is it's
1:16:23 got things like you know know you need
1:16:25 to hire an Ethics lawyer if you're going
1:16:28 to use Ai and you have to reverse
1:16:31 engineer any AI that you use to
1:16:34 determine if it's got bias in it and if
1:16:36 so have your have your lawyer review it
1:16:40 and whatever and also things like you
1:16:43 have to label anything that was
1:16:44 generated with AI I'm like uh okay what
1:16:49 if it was just like one paragraph in a
1:16:52 whole book does that have to be labeled
1:16:54 it's just
1:16:55 it this was clearly written by someone
1:16:59 who well this was clearly written by
1:17:02 someone in Connecticut because this is a
1:17:04 copycat bill of Connecticut
1:17:07 legislation um that and and the Colorado
1:17:11 Senator and the Connecticut Senator or
1:17:14 who legislator um just had a joint pre
1:17:17 press conference talking about their
1:17:18 awesome AI legislation um out to protect
1:17:23 the consumers and all and what it really
1:17:25 does is is dramatically hurt um
1:17:29 especially small small businesses so
1:17:32 anyway if you're willing to please go uh
1:17:35 check out that letter and sign sign up
1:17:37 it's a Google form that's here um so if
1:17:40 you want to do that the other thing that
1:17:42 if you go to AI Salon the third link
1:17:45 down is the AI Salon
1:17:47 community and this
1:17:50 is one of the things I think is going to
1:17:52 be most important in the next oh I don't
1:17:55 I don't know wait so any paper that uses
1:17:58 grammarly has to be labeled so stupid
1:18:00 yeah I don't quite know how they're
1:18:02 going how they're going to use it but
1:18:04 basically it just puts egregious amounts
1:18:07 of
1:18:08 Regulation um on anyone using Ai and and
1:18:12 what it's going to do for a couple of
1:18:15 things I think AI regulations can't be
1:18:17 done on a state-by-state basis it's
1:18:19 going to be an absolute [ __ ] travesty
1:18:22 can we sign up more than once no I don't
1:18:23 think so steo because it's um they
1:18:27 they're vetting anyone who signs it
1:18:28 they're sort of vetting them and making
1:18:30 sure that they're real people and things
1:18:31 like that so
1:18:33 um so I think if you sign it once it's
1:18:36 fine but you can certainly share the
1:18:38 letter um and I would appreciate that so
1:18:41 it's going out under my name and Dan
1:18:43 Murray's name so me on behalf of the AI

1:18:51 the ones putting it forward I'm going to
1:18:53 be at a press conference on Tuesday say

1:19:01 fairly cynical about how corrupt it all
1:19:03 is but this is a really [ __ ] up Bill
1:19:05 so I'm willing to I'm willing to
1:19:08 uh to be a meat puppet uh in opposition

1:20:27 where you're making trusted

1:20:32 politics I know me too it's there's
1:20:35 there's something about being involved
1:20:37 in this process that that just gives me
1:20:39 the willies Joy pry because it's just
1:20:41 like I just don't trust any side of it
1:20:45 um but at the same time I actually think
1:20:47 this is a really bad Bill and if they if
1:20:49 they just pass [ __ ] like this just to
1:20:51 pass it and it ends up [ __ ] up my
1:20:54 ability to run my business business you
1:20:56 know that's not cool that's not okay so
1:21:01 so um yeah so anyway um but I think
1:21:06 that as AI tools get more
1:21:11 capable what they're going to allow is
1:21:14 every individual to be able to do every
1:21:18 task at some level of competence like
1:21:20 every task and if you're like but I'm
1:21:23 not a coder you'll be able to do coding
1:21:26 in the future but I'm not an artist I'm
1:21:28 not a writer I'm not a this whatever
1:21:30 whatever things that you've got in Your
1:21:33 Arsenal of talents and skills that you
1:21:36 think I'm not that you're going to be
1:21:38 able to be that so the implications of
1:21:41 that are that we are in the middle of a
1:21:44 transition where we today hire people
1:21:48 because of what they can do their skills
1:21:51 oh you're a copywriter I'll hire you to
1:21:53 be a copywriter oh you're a designer
1:21:56 I'll hire you oh you're you know you're
1:21:58 a project manager I'll hire you to do
1:22:01 that as AI gets better at augmenting all
1:22:05 humans we're not going to hire people
1:22:07 for what they can do we're going to hire
1:22:10 people for who they are and how much we
1:22:13 trust them and like how they work how
1:22:16 they think how they do their job right
1:22:21 do they do it with Integrity do they do
1:22:23 it um with with passion do they do it
1:22:26 with you know taste and good
1:22:30 judgment and
1:22:32 so the implication of that then means
1:22:37 you need to have an increasing circle of
1:22:40 people that can trust you can do the
1:22:42 work and so what that means is being in
1:22:44 a community like the AI Salon which is a
1:22:47 it's a it's a community of AI
1:22:49 adventurers people that are curious
1:22:50 about AI but there's there's some things
1:22:53 about it like we encourage people to use
1:22:55 their real name we we have a set of
1:22:57 values here like like curiosity we want
1:23:00 people in this community that are
1:23:02 curious about AI we want them generous
1:23:05 like people that are sharing what
1:23:06 they're learning and they're connecting
1:23:08 why is that because it helps build trust
1:23:11 it helps build relationship hey I just
1:23:13 learned this thing here's how I did it
1:23:15 oh can I ask you a question about that
1:23:17 sure absolutely that builds that
1:23:20 relationship um exploration people that
1:23:23 are willing to say o there's a new thing
1:23:25 out let's let's figure out how to do
1:23:27 that maybe we do that together um
1:23:29 collaboration is one of the other values
1:23:31 here right you know are you willing to
1:23:33 to connect with other people and and
1:23:35 build things California will find a way
1:23:38 to tax it that's hilarious um inclusion
1:23:42 um you know people everyone's going to
1:23:44 be affected by AI everyone there's not
1:23:47 going to be an exception to it so people
1:23:49 are going to be coming from all walks of
1:23:51 life all experience levels all
1:23:53 professional levels all ages all ethnic
1:23:56 backgrounds all of it right so being
1:23:59 open to those other points of view is is
1:24:02 super important empathy we are in the
1:24:05 middle
1:24:06 of what I think is at a minimum five
1:24:09 years of massive
1:24:12 change massive change is always [ __ ]
1:24:15 terrifying people are afraid of
1:24:17 Technology they're afraid of losing jobs
1:24:20 they're afraid of their jobs changing
1:24:22 and all of that's going to happen and
1:24:23 it's going to happen
1:24:25 in in batches
1:24:27 dramatically so having empathy for what
1:24:30 people are going through or that they
1:24:32 might be afraid of that they might be
1:24:33 pissed off at
1:24:35 AI like yeah have empathy for that
1:24:38 understand that um and then the final
1:24:41 one is gratitude imagine being in a
1:24:45 community that people were interesting
1:24:49 and curious and engaged and generous and
1:24:51 willing to help one another and willing
1:24:53 to collaborate
1:24:56 and also like appreciative of that
1:24:59 that's what this community is these
1:25:01 values that I just went through they're
1:25:03 not like
1:25:05 aspirational that's how this group is so
1:25:08 if this sounds interesting to you if the
1:25:10 idea of being in community and and you
1:25:13 know being able to have support around
1:25:15 you as you try to figure this AI [ __ ]
1:25:17 out is interesting come to the AI Salon
1:25:20 join the AI salon and then the very

1:25:49 generous about it tell us who you are

1:25:53 today tell us what you're interested
1:25:57 in and what you'll find is that is that
1:26:01 the people in here will welcome you in
1:26:04 and say ah yeah if you're just getting
1:26:06 started you might want to go here you
1:26:07 might want to look at this you might
1:26:09 want to look at

1:26:45 how to get AI literate here's the three
1:26:47 steps play solve and share you can go
1:26:50 read about that and then this is just a
1:26:52 big ass list of tools that you should be
1:26:57 getting curious about the the the most
1:27:00 important one is chat GPT by far I think
1:27:03 the 20 bucks a month is the best deal in
1:27:06 software right now I actually think it
1:27:08 is unless you if you can't afford it you
1:27:11 can't afford it there's lots of other
1:27:13 options but I think if you can afford
1:27:15 the 20 bucks a month I think this is
1:27:17 probably the most important 20 bucks a
1:27:19 month you could spend right now if
1:27:20 you're trying to get AI literate um just
1:27:24 because they're still leading the pack
1:27:26 it it's that 20 bucks it does so much
1:27:30 this sort of describes what it does um
1:27:32 and then I've got a whole pile of other
1:27:34 image tools large language models video
1:27:37 tools audio tools 3D tools um exciting
1:27:42 stuff that's coming but not here yet and
1:27:44 even people to follow like Ethan mullik
