0:25 day let's grab be not afraid's image
0:29 here cuz this is this is the better
0:32 image this is such a better
0:37 image uh let's
0:39 see Be not
0:44 Afraid days of
0:51 AI good Lord people what drama what
0:55 drama drama
0:59 drama
1:02 [Laughter]
1:06 like Sands Through The Hourglass so are
1:10 the days of
1:17 AI oh man Dr J was
1:23 happening uh Co yashi what's happening
1:25 good to see you sir thank you for being
1:28 a
1:29 subscriber
1:33 oh
1:35 man so much
1:37 happening I took a
1:40 shower let's
1:43 see to oh that's right Tobias Tobias
1:47 what you you you're messing me up with
1:48 your name
1:49 man I don't I don't have a memory for
1:52 crap like
1:55 that donaroo I'm alive
1:59 yay apparently so Sam
2:01 mman um we we'll get started here we'll
2:04 go look at the latest
2:06 breaking this is like chat TMZ we made
2:09 the chat TMZ bot last night actually
2:11 let's go let me go check the chat TMZ
2:14 bot and see see what it what it
2:19 says oh man
2:22 alive chat TMZ what's the buzz on Sam
2:27 Alman all right
2:30 The Latest
2:50 Scoop we got to fix this we got to make
2:53 it do the the latest
2:55 latest
2:57 please check latest
3:03 news you see investors are trying to get
3:05 him back I do see that I do indeed it's
3:10 crazy it's CRA cza
3:16 cza hang on a
3:29 sec
3:57 [Laughter]
4:00 that's pretty
4:01 funny um all right let's see yeah
4:06 investors are trying to get him back
4:07 sounds like
4:09 Microsoft the staff that was poached for
4:11 10 million from Google yeah did you hear
4:13 what what open AI was offering they're
4:16 offering 10 to20 million 4-year deals to
4:21 Google
4:22 employees like I mean I thought the do
4:26 com errow was bad when we were paying
4:27 like
4:29 150 50 Grand a year for college
4:32 graduates in 1994 or 1996 or 7 I thought
4:37 that was stupid $10 to20 million for a
4:40 four-year
4:43 contract nuts it's nuts nuts
4:46 nuts
4:48 um let's go look let's
4:51 see did it check the latest
4:59 news
5:02 yeah the news isn't isn't caught up as
5:04 much as the Twitter so the Twitter we've
5:08 got Rowan Chang so Rowan Chang says the
5:12 staff at open AI set up an ultimatum for
5:15 the entire board to resign and allow Sam
5:17 Alman and Greg to return by 5:00 p.m or
5:20 else they quit and join Sam in his new
5:23 company it's 6 it's 624
5:27 now um yeah so apparently mic moft sadan
5:31 Adella the CEO of Microsoft said he'll
5:33 back Sam whatever his decision is I
5:36 guarantee you because Microsoft didn't
5:38 know this was coming I guarantee you
5:43 um that
5:45 uh Microsoft was pissed Microsoft's got
5:48 their
5:50 entire the the future of their company
5:53 is completely intertwined with open AI
5:56 right now and they didn't invest in the
5:59 technology I mean that was was part of
6:00 it they invested in
6:04 Sam all right hang on one
6:17 sec um As the World Turns exactly we've
6:21 got we've got this image from uh
6:28 from yeah this is what's happening this
6:31 from being Not
6:34 Afraid is that the
6:38 best never a d moment here in AI land AI
6:43 land yeah I went a little early cuz uh
6:45 when I when I saw this when when I saw
6:47 this tweet from from Rowan TW Rowan
6:50 Chang uh that the entire staff basically
6:53 threaten to quit if the board didn't
6:56 resign by 5:00 p.m. today they said
6:59 they'd go a wherever he went it's just
7:03 crazy um and then what's what's that
7:06 woman's name from yesterday is it
7:10 Katie who else had who had the Scoops
7:20 yesterday the plot
7:28 thickens the entire board could resign
7:31 as soon as this weekend it looks like
7:34 the board pissed off the wrong investors
7:36 in with the completely blindsided move
7:38 so what what's so what's fascinating
7:40 about this is I think the board is made
7:42 up was made up mostly of researchers
7:46 right who want to take this slower and
7:49 then you have Greg and Sam who want to
7:50 take this faster they want to
7:51 commercialize it and then you got
7:53 Microsoft that wants to commercialize it
7:56 so what the board did was they said and
7:58 and one of the other rumors that was
7:59 going around I think it might have been
8:00 Rowan changen that did it no it wasn't
8:02 it was someone else one of the other
8:04 rumors was that the reason Ilia did the
8:07 power
8:09 move was that he suspected that they
8:13 they hit AGI artificial general
8:16 intelligence about a month ago and IL
8:20 Ilia would be the one that understands
8:22 that they've hit it and so there could
8:26 be something with that but it sounds
8:28 like everyone on the
8:31 planet hated this move and if your big
8:34 investors are like no we're not going to
8:38 we're not going to back this board then
8:40 the board's in
8:43 trouble oh this is the this is the best
8:45 from Matt truck Sam mman returning to
8:48 open AI after a day is like Ste Steve
8:51 Jobs returning to Apple after 12 years
8:53 but for the Tik Tock
8:58 generation
9:01 oh
9:03 man now the attakus thing or whatever
9:06 the hell that was called that was a that
9:07 was a flop they shut that
9:09 down because there ain't no AI happening
9:12 today um I've been on the side of
9:14 hostile takeover and founder firings
9:17 many times it's not over no it's not
9:19 over I mean well especially espe listen
9:22 you cannot Blindside [ __ ] Microsoft
9:25 right not not when they've met a made a
9:27 bet this big and I don't even mean the
9:29 money the the 10 billion for them is you
9:31 know that's that's mostly in compute
9:34 right that's that's going to be sunk
9:35 cost the the the
9:38 the their the thing that they can't risk
9:43 is open AI falling apart when they've
9:46 got this Tech rolled into every piece of
9:49 software that they've created this is
9:52 this the stakes here what's what's
9:54 staggering is you know it's these it's
9:58 these you know these six people people
9:59 and you know four of them decided hey
10:01 you know hey you know what we should do
10:03 let's boot these guys there are
10:06 potentially trillions of dollars at
10:08 stake like like it is just amazing how
10:12 like like the scale of this and imagine
10:15 like let's assume I I assume you know
10:17 there there's enough reporting here
10:18 let's assume this is happening imagine
10:21 the [ __ ] leverage that Alman has
10:24 right now cuz I guarantee you you know
10:27 he probably had 10 billion offers and 20
10:30 billion offers and $50 billion offers
10:33 and he said he needed a100 billion to do
10:36 AGI I guarantee you there's an investor
10:38 group out there that c that put a
10:40 hundred billion doll offer on his table
10:43 like so so for them to pull him back
10:46 like he has absolutely zero obligation
10:51 to go back unless it's on his exact
10:54 terms like his leverage right now is
10:56 through the [ __ ] roof
11:00 it's CA it's CA Papa oh hey Mar hi so
11:04 welcome everybody Welcome to the AI
11:06 learning lab if you'd be so kind go
11:08 ahead and share uh share the live and uh
11:13 tap the screen let let me know uh or not
11:16 let me know let let people know that
11:18 that you're digging things here even
11:19 though we haven't really started yet
11:20 we're just we're just gossip mongering
11:22 at this point
11:25 um what else um I somewhere on the
11:30 interface I attached a if you want to
11:33 support the channel I created a series
11:36 so series are are it's a curate curated
11:39 collection of videos so it's about 45
11:42 minutes total I think it's 19 or 20
11:44 videos um and it's it's called uh it's
11:49 called underhyped um and the basic idea
11:52 being I think that AI right now is
11:54 actually underhyped not overhyped as
11:56 silly as that sounds um especially
11:59 considering considering all the [ __ ]
12:00 going on with Sam Sam um but it's it's a
12:03 bunch of videos like like how the early
12:06 days of AI compared to the early days of
12:08 the worldwide web and talks about how to
12:11 use AI how to prompt AI what to do if
12:13 you get overwhelmed so that's somewhere
12:15 on the page I just added it I don't know
12:17 how to do this [ __ ] really so check that
12:20 thing out it's it's uh it's called it's
12:23 a series called underhyped um so go
12:26 check that out and then this is the
12:29 gossip lab it totally is um I've been on
12:32 the inside of hostile takeovers because
12:33 there aren't any AI happening
12:37 today what's the early treat Freudian
12:43 slip where's the news that they rehired
12:45 him not finding it it's not news yet so
12:47 this is all this is all stuff on Twitter
12:51 right now so it's Rowan Chang and then
12:53 what was her name was it
12:56 Katie Carrie I think Carrie
13:08 no
13:11 [Applause]
13:28 [ __ ] open AI is pivoting to the mass
13:31 entertainment business that's
13:35 genius do I have some one there oh I
13:42 do soon to launch a 20 a month feed just
13:46 to get the latest drama updates in real
13:47 time should get to 2 million subscribers
13:50 in no
13:52 time oh man all right let's
13:58 see
14:13 one day one day Boomerang CEO that's
14:17 amazing if it
14:19 happens but I mean it you know it makes
14:21 sense I mean everyone was universally
14:23 shocked there wasn't a single person
14:24 that wasn't
14:26 shocked
14:28 um it clearly seemed like a palace coup
14:31 like Ilia teamed up with
14:34 uh with Adam what's his name
14:39 didario and got the other two on board
14:43 with it and it seems like they just did
14:44 it quick
14:47 and Ilia now has billions of Microsoft
14:49 dollars at his
14:52 disposal that's
14:57 old yeah I don't let's go
15:02 to let's go to
15:05 here see if there's anything
15:21 new oh that's
15:28 interesting
15:35 oh
15:41 so so who is this guy Sully Sul
15:46 Omar tweets about tech he's I don't know
15:49 who he is
15:58 but
16:03 the deal with Microsoft specifically
16:05 only applies to pre AGI
16:09 technology so what happens when you
16:11 achieve AGI you become a competitor to
16:13 every single company in the
16:16 world we will live in a post scarcity
16:20 world you can kill Google Microsoft Etc
16:24 however you need one thing
16:26 Hardware that's why Sam's been on a
16:28 fundraiser mission in the Middle
16:31 East huh well that could tie that could
16:37 tie tie together with the rumor that
16:41 that uh that they hit AGI a month or so
16:44 ago and why Ilia there's something
16:47 there's definitely something up AGI
16:49 first second after creation was firing
16:53 his creator yeah exactly um ask
16:57 grock ask grock please does anyone have
17:01 access to grock I don't have access to
17:02 grock yet Source Camp how you doing man
17:04 or woman person person person tude
17:08 Rockstar
17:10 tud search Sam alman's sister is that
17:13 real well his youngest sisters made a
17:15 bunch of accusations those have been out
17:17 there for a while since 20 I don't know
17:19 for for for a while so I don't I I don't
17:22 think any of this had anything to do
17:23 with that there were some people trying
17:25 to to uh spin that up uh Kyle check out
17:30 mansplainer
17:32 doai mansplaining is a service baby I
17:35 told you it was coming mansplainer
17:39 doai huh can't reach the page oh main
17:43 spainer I guess you got to spell it
17:45 right that's not very mansplaining if I
17:48 misspell
17:57 it
17:59 um can a woman be
18:04 president question mark let's see what
18:07 man spainer says ah I see we're starting
18:10 with the basics today well let me
18:11 Enlighten you on the simplest terms
18:13 possible so there's no confusion in the
18:15 world of Politics the concept might be a
18:17 bit too complex for you to fully grasp
18:20 yeah it's good I like it that's
18:27 funny
18:30 actually that
18:31 tracks who wait who did that GPT oh
18:34 mansplainer doai I don't know no it's uh
18:37 let's see who made it um new
18:40 chat Jason Kaufman made
18:46 it Jason caufman can't view your chats
18:50 oh that's interesting they put that
18:57 there
19:05 oh one of our Peeps made one it's in
19:07 Discord okay cool um all right so let me
19:09 let me welcome y'all here welcome
19:11 everybody how many people we got here
19:13 got a got a few pile of
19:16 people welcome to the AI learning lab
19:19 let me I'll start with the salon so so
19:22 this channel is actually part of a
19:24 larger Community called the AI salon so
19:26 this is a group I started about a year
19:28 ago coming up on our one-year
19:29 anniversary on December 5th and
19:33 um tracks if you miss
19:35 [Laughter]
19:41 spill um so if you want to check out
19:45 what it is go to the salon. that's a
19:47 link tree the first link is a link to
19:49 that describes what the salon's about
19:51 the second one is a link to our
19:54 Discord excuse me which was just
19:57 mentioned and the third link is to our
19:59 meetups our next meeting is this Tuesday
20:02 so uh few days from now hang
20:07 on and um go check out uh our values cuz
20:12 the values of this group are really
20:14 important to me
20:16 um it's it's uh like we want people in
20:19 there that are cool and generous and
20:21 empathetic and inclusive and things like
20:23 that and so cuz it's it's a it's a
20:27 really cool group if you go to the
20:28 Discord the discord's got if you've
20:30 never been to Discord oh is it a joy um
20:33 there's all sorts of channels in here
20:35 there's conversations there's guilds
20:37 entrepreneurship Guild a writer Guild an
20:39 Art Guild there's an Irregulars Guild
20:41 for people that come to this live a lot
20:44 um if you're a subscriber to the channel
20:46 um then you get access to that
20:48 immediately or if you just hang out here
20:49 all the time I may let you in and
20:53 there's also a place to share your
20:55 gpts so looks like someone did let's see
20:58 react Mentor Christmas Carol companion
21:01 oh de great great Deep Thoughts great
21:05 books Deep Thoughts that's good your
21:07 Adventures in
21:09 Wonderland this looks really cool this
21:11 is not mine someone made a a game The
21:13 Secret of Monkey Island Amsterdam a GPT
21:16 that's a game which is a super cool
21:18 concept alman's excuses that's good so
21:22 so there's a bunch of gpts in there you
21:24 can go explore I mean there's there's
21:25 literally hundreds of them at this point
21:28 those are just from the community um so
21:31 go check that out thank you love the
21:32 values yeah the values the values are
21:36 curiosity um we want people that are
21:38 curious that are trying to figure this
21:39 AI [ __ ] out um generosity we want you to
21:42 share what you're learning and like when
21:44 you join the Discord when you land in
21:46 the introduce yourself Channel introduce
21:50 yourself even if you're crappy at it
21:52 like some someone uh yesterday went into
21:56 the introduction Channel and they said
21:57 I'm really bad at in introductions and
21:59 then did this amazing
22:01 introduction so even if you think you're
22:03 crap at introductions or even if you
22:04 think you're crap at AI come join us and
22:07 just share what you're learning share
22:09 where you are and there's all sorts of
22:11 cool people in here Peter Kaminsky that
22:13 runs the AI 101 Guild like he's just
22:16 he's he's like he's a he's like one of
22:18 the most brilliant men on the planet and
22:21 and he's just super passionate about
22:23 helping people you know figure this
22:25 stuff out so it's a really neat group um
22:30 so generosity is is one of the values
22:34 exploration is one of the values we want
22:36 people exploring figuring things out
22:39 collaboration
22:40 inclusion people are people all over
22:43 from every Walk of Life and from every
22:46 industry are going to be impacted by
22:47 this stuff so people trying to learn it
22:49 are going to be from everywhere so it
22:51 doesn't matter where anyone's coming
22:53 from what their background is some of
22:55 the most amazing people in the community
22:57 right now are people not from technical
23:00 positions they're people that are just
23:02 learning this stuff and they they've
23:04 come into it with a really good
23:06 attitude I think it's the reason Alman
23:08 was fired you think what was the reason
23:10 Alman was
23:13 fired You misspelled Salon where did I
23:16 misspell
23:19 Salon no I
23:24 didn't where did I misspell
23:27 salon did
23:35 I oh sorry that was the lady spainer
23:37 that human being
23:41 created how do I join the Discord what's
23:43 it called go to the
23:46 salon. second link is the link to the
23:48 Discord it's the it's the AI Salon is
23:50 the name of the
23:52 Discord and then Tuesday we're going to
23:54 we're going to do a soft launch of we're
23:57 going to move the guilds initially over
24:00 to a thing called Mighty networks which
24:02 is web- based so if you just hate
24:05 Discord or don't even feel like dealing
24:06 with it um give us three weeks and we
24:10 will have a different place for a lot of
24:13 the community to interact so that's
24:16 exciting um maybe they thought you meant
24:18 Saloon oh
24:20 possibly I knew could could you story
24:23 sounded
24:25 familiar Pate what's happening
24:30 um all right let's let's go do a couple
24:32 other things
24:33 okay so if you are brand brand new to Ai
24:38 and if you're if you haven't heard any
24:40 of the drama like the CEO of open AI the
24:44 people behind chat GPT got fired
24:46 yesterday after growing the company to
24:48 90 billion in valuation in a year Well
24:53 in 5 years whatever it's been but but
24:56 you know grew it to 90 billion in Valu
24:58 ation they dumped his ass yesterday well
25:01 apparently they're in talks to bring him
25:03 back but if you and and it's it's it's
25:06 caused caused quite the C fuffle in all
25:09 of techland so if you have not played
25:12 with chat GPT go there right now chat.
25:15 open.com and just start playing with it
25:17 also sign up for the wait list to get
25:22 gp4 they closed new uh subscriptions to
25:26 chat gp4 and
25:28 I assumed until yesterday they were
25:30 working on upping their server capacity
25:33 and then as of yesterday they're working
25:34 on trying to keep their company from
25:37 imploding
25:40 um let's see looks like we got some new
25:42 people that just
25:44 joined
25:46 fantastic please uh if you do join the
25:49 Discord please introduce yourself tell
25:51 us who you are um what you're what
25:54 you're up to what are you about and
25:55 where are you on this AI Adventure so so
25:59 just go start playing there and then I'm
26:02 going to go through a bunch of these uh
26:05 little slides so so here's what I'm
26:07 going to ask you to do get ready to um
26:11 screenshot so you can screenshot a bunch
26:14 of these things what I'm about to show
26:17 you are
26:19 um the AI tools that I think are not a
26:22 waste of your time I think there's I
26:24 mean there are literally thousands
26:27 probably 10,000 or more API or AI tools
26:30 at this point and with uh with the gpts
26:34 being released from open AI if you
26:35 haven't heard of those they're
26:36 personalized versions of of chat GPT
26:39 that open AI made really easy to make um
26:43 there are probably 50,000 of those at
26:45 this at this point um people are just
26:47 cranking those things out um but the
26:50 things I'm going to show you are things
26:51 that you should also be aware of even
26:53 though chat GPT right now is got all the
26:56 the uh light on it um Claude is a
27:00 competitor from a bunch of exop AI
27:02 people grock is Elon musk's uh
27:05 coming uh probably chat GPT 3.5
27:09 competitor but it's connected to Twitter
27:11 data so that could be interesting Bing
27:14 is from Microsoft oh I should actually
27:16 change that Bing has now changed to hang
27:19 on let's do this right now we're going
27:21 to do this real time
27:22 people we don't mess around here at the
27:25 AI learning lab if we got wrong
27:26 information wa f it
27:28 so this is now called
27:31 co-pilot and it is now at a different
27:35 URL it's
27:38 at uh
27:40 copilot
27:47 microsoft.com and
27:51 then
27:52 copy and paste
27:55 and and then we're going to come in here
27:58 I'm going to go here I'm here I'm
28:03 here all right so it's now called
28:07 co-pilot so if you go to co-pilot
28:10 microsoft.com that's essentially a free
28:14 Standalone GPT 4
28:17 powered um like chat GPT like tool now
28:22 because it's Microsoft the safety guard
28:25 rails on it are pretty strict and so you
28:29 can't be mean to it and and it doesn't
28:31 always do what you want it to do but
28:34 it's free so that's so so these are kind
28:37 of the big four that are not chat GPT
28:40 right now um Bard was supposed to get
28:43 this thing called Gemini which was
28:45 supposed to beat chat GPT 4 but they
28:50 just delayed the release of that until
28:52 at least the first quarter so
28:55 apparently Google not have it so ready
28:58 all right and then prompt. chat if you
29:01 really are just struggling to figure out
29:03 how do I even talk to these things this
29:05 this document will give you a nice
29:07 little um
29:09 trainer these people not in big
29:21 Tech now here's what I call the Kids
29:24 Table Silver Fox can't pin anymore don't
29:27 worry about it tonight I'll just
29:29 listen huh that's weird Silver Fox I
29:33 wonder if there's anything I need to
29:36 do let
29:41 me is it here
29:45 no
29:47 here
29:52 settings
29:55 huh I don't know I do not enough Silver
29:59 Fox Okay other important llms uh you got
30:03 Pi which Pi is really good it's
30:06 conversational so download the iOS app
30:08 of Pi and put it in conversation mode
30:11 and just start talking to an Internet
30:14 connected um large language model like
30:17 chat GPT it's wild um I had the issue
30:20 yesterday not being able to pin yeah I
30:22 don't know what's going on you know um
30:24 Tik Tok for the past week or so it's
30:27 it's just been forced quitting on me in
30:29 the middle of lives with like nothing
30:31 happening it just quits so I don't know
30:34 what's going on it's it's probably just
30:35 an unstable version of the of the app um
30:39 perplexity is really good for research
30:41 llama 2 is meta open source models you
30:44 can play with them at labs. perplexity
30:46 doai and then po so PO is really
30:50 interesting Po's from a company called
30:52 quora you you may have heard of quora it
30:54 was like a question and answer site for
30:57 for decades and then they made po which
31:01 is their their chatbot and you can use
31:04 lots of different models there and you
31:05 can make Bots there
31:08 and
31:10 uh Adam
31:13 D'Angelo who's quara's
31:15 CEO is also on the board of open Ai and
31:19 Adam and Ilia and two other women on the
31:23 board were the four that voted out Sam
31:26 Alman and Greg Brockman
31:28 yesterday so po po is in the middle of
31:31 all this Intrigue um so it's going to be
31:34 interesting to see what happens um so
31:37 that's those okay now um image creation
31:40 here's kind of the big for Dolly 3 is
31:42 inside of chat GPT it's also inside of
31:45 Microsoft co-pilot mid journe is the
31:48 best if you want to do art Leonardo's
31:50 the best if you want to do like you know
31:52 if you like the cockpit of a 747 and
31:55 want to do lots of switches and dials
31:56 that's Leonardo it's but it's it's well
31:58 done that's sitting on top of stable
32:00 diffusion um or you can go play with
32:02 stable diffusion if if you're geeky uh
32:05 but this is the web a web front end for
32:07 stable diffusion and then Firefly is if
32:10 you work for a big company Firefly's
32:13 data has not been trained on any
32:15 copywritten images so this is kind
32:19 Firefly is kind of the safest of of
32:21 these things um I should start demoing
32:24 that more I haven't been demoing it and
32:26 someone pointed that out the other it's
32:27 a good point because a lot of people are
32:29 going to be using Adobe products and
32:30 they're and they're actually they're
32:32 they're listen you're not going to get
32:35 quality as good as Dolly 3 or mid
32:37 Journey right now but it's getting
32:38 better and better and better and they
32:40 just released a new model which is
32:41 apparently quite good uh so that's image
32:44 Generation
32:45 video the three on the left Runway ml
32:48 Moon Valley and P Labs um are all kind
32:51 of the same
32:52 thing um Runway apparently now has
32:57 release but I couldn't see it I didn't I
32:59 didn't see it but they've released this
33:01 thing called motion brush so you can
33:04 create you can take a still image and
33:07 then you can paint over the object that
33:10 you want it to animate and it so if you
33:12 paint over a boat it'll make the boat
33:14 move if you paint over clouds it'll make
33:16 the clouds move um so Runway ml is about
33:20 to get really really really good um and
33:23 then Heen you should go to labs. gen.com
33:26 and play with with their video translate
33:28 tool because it's
33:31 remarkable um music and audio you got 11
33:35 Labs if you want to synthesize your own
33:37 voice that's good sunno um will write
33:41 you a song
33:43 lyrics make the music and sing the
33:46 lyrics for you it'll com create a
33:48 complete song It's a verse and a chorus
33:50 it's
33:51 not um it's not it's not a complete song
33:54 but you get a verse in a chorus you know
33:55 fully composed with lyrics with the
33:58 person singing and it does two versions
34:00 of each song so it's pretty outrageous
34:02 and they give you five songs a day for
34:04 free so the unpaid version you can do
34:06 five songs a day and then refusion and
34:08 sound draw are also both music
34:10 generation tools uh refusion I think
34:14 does lyrics I think it does sound draw
34:18 is just uh more like uh it's a it's like
34:20 a loop uh composer but it does it with
34:23 AI so it does it really quick and it's a
34:25 good intuitive interface um 3D objects
34:29 and worlds you got blockade Labs Wonder
34:31 Dynamics and Luma AI I forget what Luma
34:34 is but uh it's cool it was cool enough I
34:36 put it in here one night uh and then
34:39 here's people you should follow Ethan
34:41 mullik uh is Wharton business school
34:44 Professor he's got one useful thing. org
34:46 you got David Shapiro who is working on
34:49 AGI uh but apparently oh wait here's Sam
34:52 mman Cy cyberdine Joker thanks please
34:55 pin Kyle talk about the video video
34:59 series oh underrated hype um yeah so so
35:04 uh underhyped so so I talked about it
35:07 earlier but um if you want to support
35:10 the channel you can subscribe to the
35:11 lives um I also put I created a video
35:15 series today uh yeah I did it I finished
35:18 it today I've been creating it over the
35:20 past week or so it's a curated list of
35:23 videos that I've I've created over the
35:24 past year that just talk about why AI is
35:27 a big deal and and um how to use it and
35:32 how to think about it and how to have
35:34 fun with it and how to not be so
35:36 overwhelmed by it and all that sort of
35:37 stuff so it's 45 minutes of video it's
35:40 in a nice you know those series things
35:42 are actually kind of cool I thought they
35:43 were going to be hokey but they're
35:44 they're not they're they're actually
35:45 pretty slick so it's a nice curated list
35:48 the link I think is somewhere on the
35:51 interface cuz I I added it before I went
35:53 live uh again I'm decently clueless with
35:56 this [ __ ] but if you want to support the
35:57 channel uh feel free to to check out
36:00 that series um and then this is this is
36:03 some of the uh some of the other URLs um
36:06 we have a YouTube channel where I put
36:08 archives of these these live videos at
36:11 AI learninglab DT on YouTube the AI
36:15 Salon I talked about earlier but go
36:17 check that out if you want to uh if
36:18 you're looking for a community of people
36:21 that are just as weird as you are about
36:22 this AI [ __ ] um story Vine's my company
36:25 and then uh thonus told me yesterday
36:28 that that this URL tinyurl.com kyes AI
36:32 tools that's a Google sheet that he's
36:35 been every time I mention a person or um
36:39 a website a resource he's been adding it
36:41 to this spreadsheet so it's it's a
36:43 really good resource actually so so
36:46 that's there all right so that's all
36:47 that [ __ ]
36:49 so if you have questions about AI pop it
36:52 below but let's before we get into
36:55 questions let's go let's going to see if
36:57 the if the world has changed in the last
36:59 half an hour cuz it's probably it's
37:03 probably possible that it did wow okay
37:05 open AI staff set a deadline for 5:00 pm
37:09 a source close to Alman says the board
37:11 has agreed in principle to resign holy
37:17 [ __ ] wow okay let's read this together
37:21 shall we good
37:24 Lord the board has agreed impr principal
37:27 to resign and allow Alman and Brockman
37:30 to return oh wait but has since
37:34 waffled missing a key 5:00 pm deadline
37:37 many of the open AI staffers were set to
37:39 resign if Alman decides to leave and
37:41 start a new company those staffers would
37:43 assuredly go with him
37:47 Dang Dang Dang kids this is getting drma
37:51 this is wait this is this is wait where
37:55 is it hold hold
37:59 like Sands through the hour wait like
38:01 Sands Through The Hourglass so are the
38:04 days of
38:08 AI wow that's a little Gen X little Gen
38:12 X reference for you there
38:15 people that's crazy crazy crazy crazy em
38:26 man
38:32 yeah there you go ulma decision looms as
38:35 seoa tiger negotiate behind the scenes I
38:38 guarantee you it he Alman alman's going
38:41 to have the first 100 m hundred billion
38:43 dollar seed round in history if he ends
38:46 up stay staying left from open AI he's
38:50 he's going to be able to do whatever the
38:52 hell he wants he's got so much leverage
38:54 right now it's
38:56 insane wow number six oh Scoville Robert
38:59 Scoville he's he's a good dude he's been
39:02 uh he's he's he's been numbering the
39:04 Wows over the past two days this is wow
39:07 number
39:10 six holy
39:14 crap so wait this was two hours
39:19 ago
39:21 nadela INXS making sure Al Alman shows
39:25 up for work in open on eye on Monday
39:29 yeah that doesn't surprise
39:30 me I haven't felt this alive
39:34 since all right well we'll keep checking
39:36 back on this but let's go let's go play
39:39 with some AI
39:43 stuff Max Maro but Nutella supported the
39:45 new CEO
39:47 immediately well I mean it it's not a
39:50 Microsoft's interest to say they're not
39:52 going to work with the new
39:54 CEO because if if if the decision sticks
39:58 they've got to they've still got to work
39:59 with the new CEO so it's not in in
40:02 Microsoft's interest to [ __ ] with that
40:05 what they're what they're doing is
40:07 putting pressure on the board right what
40:09 they're doing is saying hey board you
40:11 need to reconsider this and if not You'
40:14 need to have a really good [ __ ]
40:15 reason for it and it just it just sounds
40:19 like this
40:20 was I it just does not seem like this
40:23 was a very well thought out move um so
40:27 should we set up a 24-hour news watch my
40:29 God I know right it I mean it does look
40:33 like by Monday something like it'll
40:35 either be you know open AI just sort of
40:38 continues as is but you know you know
40:40 what's fascinating about this like even
40:43 even if if Alman and and Greg Brockman
40:45 go
40:47 back I assume they lose
40:51 Ilia or Ilia loses a board seat and I
40:54 don't know if he'd stay around since
40:55 this was kind of his cou so so he
40:59 probably
41:02 goes and but but then I mean if if Sam
41:07 comes back he's going to have a blank
41:09 check to do whatever the [ __ ] he wants
41:11 so so I think Ilia was serving as
41:14 breakes for Sam's gas pedal and that's I
41:18 think that's what this about their board
41:20 can just go play
41:23 golf agree not well thought out at all
41:26 must wants him well everybody wants Sam
41:28 right now can you
41:30 imagine whoever gets
41:33 Sam is it's it's a it's a total it's a
41:36 total win for whoever gets Sam if Apple
41:39 got Sam it would be [ __ ] huge if musk
41:42 got Sam it would be [ __ ] huge I can't
41:44 imagine I
41:46 don't I don't know the Dynamics between
41:49 musk and and Alman but Alman basically
41:52 told musk to to [ __ ] off that it needed
41:55 to be a for-profit company and that's
41:57 why musk HED out of there oh
42:00 Ilia wait what did you say about
42:04 Ilia he has a war with open AI over Ilia
42:09 who
42:14 does there there goes my super villain
42:18 timeline Alman and Greg 100 billion
42:21 dollar raise coming soon yeah no Al
42:23 Alman and Greg Brockman were in the
42:25 Middle East last week trying to raise
42:28 the hundred billion doar they they
42:30 didn't want it to be under under
42:33 Microsoft I don't think or Microsoft
42:35 said they weren't going to do 100 bli
42:37 maybe they needed cash to make their own
42:40 servers right they can't they can't be
42:41 relying on Microsoft if they want to be
42:44 independent so they got to go make their
42:46 own server
42:48 farms and if indeed there's if if indeed
42:51 there's a clause in the in the contract
42:55 with Microsoft that says if they achieve
42:58 AGI then it's it's a different
43:01 deal and indeed they've secretly
43:04 achieved it like man it's just like the
43:08 stakes are so [ __ ] insane right
43:12 now
43:14 wow was it though we
43:17 don't wait was it though we don't
43:20 know if Elia and
43:25 pude
43:28 Adam yeah
43:35 Adam musk and Larry from open AI fought
43:38 over Elia they lost friendship oh yeah
43:41 musk and Larry Paige yeah
43:43 yeah yeah yeah musk won musk got Ilia
43:46 like Ilia almost went to
43:49 Google but I mean even that's a big deal
43:51 so if Sam if Sam and Greg go back I
43:54 can't imagine that Elie is going to stay
43:57 cuz it sounded like there was tension
43:58 between Sam and him anyway and at this
44:01 point I don't I mean he can't be on the
44:03 board and he probably can't be in the
44:06 company so he'll probably go to Google
44:09 but maybe he goes to xai cuz musk was
44:13 the one that got him to come to open
44:19 AI I mean this is this is totally like a
44:21 [ __ ] soap opera I I feel like TMZ
44:24 tonight oh my God the drama that's what
44:26 I was just thinking Mary Mary I'm like
44:29 good Lord people what is going on
44:32 Microsoft are bullies and we have
44:34 to yeah
44:36 exactly so by the way Tik Tok just quit
44:39 on me again every time it does that I
44:41 have a little panic attack that getting
44:46 banned all right musk is in hot water
44:49 why is musk in hot water Adam D'Angelo
44:52 could be behind
44:54 it well I think I think
44:57 so so Sherry since last night since
44:59 since you were talking about that it
45:02 became pretty clear this was this was
45:04 Ilia
45:06 um you know Ilia sort of led the outing
45:09 and you know just based on the stuff you
45:11 were saying and and you know me going
45:13 and looking at the the PO bot in her
45:16 face there might be some there might
45:19 there might be some he he might have
45:21 been Adam might have been predisposed
45:23 against Sam anyway and then I they had
45:25 to convince the other two which they
45:26 obviously did I've sold 20 people on the
45:29 work on the powers of geni and GPT and
45:32 now they can't join I know I know what
45:35 are you GNA do man musk made previously
45:38 anti-semitic comments or tweets or
45:39 advertisers pull out temporarily oh yeah
45:43 that's that's relatively old news he
45:44 hasn't done that in like a couple of
45:47 months they lost ad Revenue well well
45:50 Twitter the the the market cap of
45:53 Twitter was $44 billion when he bought
45:56 it and he's parlayed that into a$1 19
45:58 billion company so he's lost more than
46:00 half of the company the
46:03 valuation he explained that and did so
46:06 on Ben Shapiro have you seen did you see
46:09 the most big streaming companies said
46:11 they aren't advertising anymore on X
46:13 yeah that doesn't surprise
46:15 me his so so
46:21 musk I mean be very clear
46:25 Musk
46:27 I don't think he cares as much about the
46:31 advertising what he cares about is the
46:34 data so so realize that Tesla his robot
46:41 company nural
46:43 link and X are all four AI
46:48 companies so e and and I would imagine a
46:51 good well actually a large amount of
46:54 what SpaceX is doing how you land
46:57 rockets that fall out of the sky on a
47:00 little boat in the ocean is AI right so
47:04 all of his companies are AI
47:07 companies what he's interested in with
47:09 Twitter is the data so I don't think he
47:11 gives too much of a [ __ ] about the
47:13 advertisers right now he pulled access
47:15 to their apis so he pulled access to the
47:17 data because he didn't want other AI
47:20 companies training on Twitter data and
47:22 he didn't want media companies
47:23 leveraging it so that probably pissed
47:26 off a whole ton of people right there
47:28 but he doesn't care about that cuz his
47:29 bigger play is Agi and having the data
47:33 to be able to do that and and Twitter is
47:36 you know this this Juggernaut in terms
47:39 of real-time data and and up to the
47:42 minute information and
47:44 misinformation also is no one going to
47:47 talk about Sam going to SoftBank for
47:48 money isn't that a concern well you got
47:52 to go if you need hundred billion
47:53 dollars you got to go to somewhere big I
47:55 I mean
47:56 sure it's a concern just like AGI is a
47:59 concern just like you know the the the
48:03 you
48:06 know yes there are concerns but if you
48:09 need yeah yeah SpaceX is an AI company
48:12 yeah exactly um if you need hundred
48:15 billion doar there's only so many places
48:17 you can
48:20 go NBC not advertising on X new
48:23 president from
48:25 NBC
48:31 what data is
48:34 important Jay Hamilton what data is
48:37 important on X it's just
48:39 tweets it's all of the tweets it's all
48:42 of the tweets historically it's how we
48:45 talk it's what we talk about it's the
48:48 latest news right now if you go look up
48:52 news articles on what's going on with
48:54 open AI you they they're out of date if
48:59 you go to Twitter you see the latest
49:01 [ __ ]
49:04 um it is it is how a lot of the world
49:09 globally
49:11 communicates and
49:14 so one of the things that he's done with
49:19 grock is it's just like chat GPT but
49:22 instead of it saying I'm going to go
49:24 search the internet on being it
49:27 incorporates Twitter
49:30 data into the answers of grock now how's
49:33 it doing that and how do you tell if
49:36 it's misinformation or not I don't know
49:38 but I would I would imagine you could
49:40 filter your responses to say only you
49:43 know use data from people I follow so
49:46 there it's it's a lot more than just
49:48 tweets it's a lot more than just
49:55 tweets
49:58 all
50:00 right they didn't land the one today no
50:03 no they didn't Joker they didn't SpaceX
50:07 SpaceX made a little rocket that took
50:09 off beautifully got to Max Q did their
50:14 stage separation as the uh main booster
50:19 came to you know turn around and fly its
50:21 ass back to boka
50:23 chica it blew up and then at some point
50:28 they lost uh lost communication with the
50:31 Starship and that we think that went
50:33 boom boom too so what do they call it
50:36 rapid a rud rapid unplanned
50:40 [Laughter]
50:44 disassembly oh
50:47 man what a day what a crazy
50:50 day there's more to the mus musk story
50:54 as well he explained himself it shows
50:55 shows how information spreads through
50:58 Humanity we need diagrams Kyle update
51:01 the musk anti-semitic stuff is fresh oh
51:04 oh oh he did it like a week ago right
51:06 about the Israel and Palestine thing
51:11 conflict dozens oh oh dozens have pulled
51:14 out in the past few days okay I haven't
51:15 heard that sorry I've I've been watching
51:18 other oh thank you very much digital
51:21 gods and be not afraid I appreciate that
51:23 you guys are sweet that's so sweet um
51:27 yeah I've been I've been busy with with
51:28 other with other soap
51:36 operas oh man what's that one on a
51:40 personal note like four times now in
51:42 history of open AI oh yeah so this was
51:47 this was what Alman said yesterday was
51:50 it
51:54 yesterday it's like this like three days
51:58 ago or four days
51:59 ago speaking at the the Apex Summit he
52:04 said on a personal note like four times
52:06 now in the history of open AI the most
52:09 recent time was just a couple of weeks
52:12 I've gotten to be in the room when we
52:14 push the veil of ignorance back and the
52:17 frontier of Discovery forward so this is
52:21 this is the thing that he said in the
52:23 past
52:24 week that makes some of the Tik Tock
52:27 speculators speculate that they hit AGI
52:30 that that that something happened in
52:33 their research that precipitated all
52:36 this and yesterday Sam got ousted over a
52:39 Google meet call is this a
52:44 coincidence wow update we can definitely
52:47 say the board's decision was not made in
52:49 response to malfant or anything related
52:52 to financial business safety or security
52:56 this was a breakdown in Communications
52:58 between Sam and the board our position
53:01 as a company remains extremely strong
53:03 and micros softer means fully committed
53:05 interim CEO has our full
53:09 support we still share your concerns
53:12 about how the process has been handled
53:13 we are working to resolve the situation
53:15 we will provide updates as soon as we're
53:17 able Microsoft and Bill Gates wanted to
53:24 use
53:26 huh
53:30 [Music]
53:33 okay wait what how did I get so far down
53:49 here that's
53:51 neotokyo that's a that's a uh a gaming
53:56 nft project that I'm a part of it's
53:59 actually a really cool project and it's
54:00 starting to starting to pop off right
54:02 now which in the world of nfts anything
54:04 popping off is
54:09 remarkable okay I got nothing
54:24 there yeah no nothing new all right
54:28 there we
54:32 go Dr J Kyle is great in this AI LL
54:36 group is great um I can't speak on me
54:39 being great but I agree that this group
54:41 is great this is a really cool
54:43 Community um AI is more interesting can
54:47 you repeat what you were talking about
54:49 with regards to NF nft stuff again
54:52 please oh yeah I I was just talking
54:55 about about I'm part of a project called
54:57 neotokyo if you go to neotokyo
55:00 doodes it's
55:03 a wait I'm in the wrong I'm in the wrong
55:06 Channel um it's a group that was started
55:11 by Alex Becker and ILO trades called
55:14 neotokyo was about two years ago they
55:16 made this really intense scavenger hunt
55:19 and it's what Becker talks about is
55:22 creating the Illuminati of web 3 gaming
55:26 and so all these game companies have
55:27 been joining neotokyo in the past um in
55:31 the past I don't know three weeks or
55:34 something like that and it's just it's
55:35 taken off and it's got this it's got
55:38 this currency called btes and if you've
55:40 got an S1 citizen it generates bites if
55:43 you stake it and it's just a it's just a
55:45 well done program and it's got a really
55:47 Vibrant
55:48 Community um that are all into web 3
55:51 gaming and and stuff like that
55:54 so
55:56 um there were there were a bunch of
55:58 posts here but it seems to be taken over
56:01 by by
56:04 um by other
56:07 [ __ ] by Sam Alman and
56:10 [Laughter]
56:12 [Music]
56:18 gang so that's
56:21 neotokyo it's a cool
56:24 project yeah you're welcome neot too.
56:27 codes is the
56:39 website all right we'll leave the we'll
56:41 leave the these are the days of our
56:44 lives hourglass up
56:49 there oh man all right so who's got
56:52 who's got any questions or who wants to
56:54 see something with with where's Andrew
56:56 I'd love that he'd love
56:59 that Sam mman was offered his job back
57:02 today yeah we were just talking about
57:03 that well we don't know if he's been
57:04 offered his job back they were talking
57:07 to him about going back then also
57:09 apparently the entire staff at open AI
57:12 or you know enough of them said that if
57:15 you don't if the board doesn't retire
57:18 immediately by 5:00 Pacific time
57:22 today um and you bring back Sam and Greg
57:24 then walking and they're going wherever
57:26 Sam goes so like if you have the whole
57:28 company quit Microsoft isn't going to
57:30 let that happen the other investors are
57:32 not going to let that happen there are a
57:35 bunch of other investors out there that
57:37 were not invested in open AI that are
57:40 like hey Sam how many billion would you
57:42 like we're
57:43 in because they're getting in at the
57:45 Ground Zero with whatever Sam builds
57:47 next and if Sam can pull all of the
57:50 employees out of open Ai and get fully
57:53 funded he's going to go do that so so
57:56 Sammy Sammy boy got a lot of Leverage
57:58 right
57:59 now I'm so excited you like my hourglass
58:02 I love your
58:03 hourglass like Sands Through The
58:05 Hourglass these are the days of
58:09 AI it's
58:13 beautiful thank you be not afraid so
58:15 this is one of the cool things so over
58:17 in the in the AI Salon Discord we have
58:20 this thing called the Irregulars Channel
58:22 and so as I as I chat the Irregulars
58:24 will do things like like you know make
58:26 oh wait make
58:30 Images Oh that one's really
58:32 good oh I love that
58:36 one they're amazing and then we also
58:39 have a show and tell
58:42 Channel and so so they do a bunch of
58:45 stuff there there's
58:48 AGI the GPT store new gpts just arrived
58:52 the AGI
58:53 bot Ted looks life always killing it
58:56 with the images Claire killing it with
58:57 the
58:58 art her stuff lately is just crazy
59:01 beautiful that one's
59:04 nice look at that Papa JJ
59:09 wow that's a great
59:14 prompt I used git tree to create this
59:17 tree with a growth habit like a mandle
59:19 brat
59:20 set and look at the Shadows wow that's
59:23 [ __ ] stunning
59:26 here we got to give that one a we got to
59:28 give that one a uh a
59:32 siren let's start to
59:37 GoFundMe for Sam I think Sam's gonna be
59:40 all right David Shapiro just posted a
59:42 good vi video a few hours ago his
59:44 thoughts are pretty good yeah David
59:46 David Shapiro's thoughts are always good
59:48 he's just I don't know what it is about
59:50 that dude he's got his neuros spicy
59:52 brain's got the the ability to
59:56 just go very deep on subjects in a very
1:00:00 short amount of
1:00:01 time like he does videos multiple times
1:00:04 a week where he's written a full-on
1:00:06 PowerPoint presentation where he's made
1:00:08 images written the presentation it's
1:00:11 this fully wellth thought out
1:00:12 articulated argument for whatever the
1:00:14 hell he's talking about he does like he
1:00:16 does it multiple times a week plus he's
1:00:18 building open source projects I don't
1:00:20 know how the dude does
1:00:22 it well I do he's [ __ ] brilliant
1:00:29 that's I forgot what it was that's what
1:00:31 it was right right he's a [ __ ] genius
1:00:34 that that that was the that was the part
1:00:36 I was missing for a while there
1:00:41 yeah oh oh Sam mman and she's jingping
1:00:45 that's really
1:00:48 funny oh man awesome A Christmas Carol
1:00:53 compilation from Vicki that's great
1:00:56 interact with charact characters from A
1:00:58 Christmas Carol that's a good
1:01:03 GPT very
1:01:04 cool yeah these gpts I mean that's
1:01:07 that's the other thing is you know last
1:01:12 Wednesday we our minds were blown
1:01:15 because um because of uh the gpts were
1:01:20 out and you know this Friday Sam alman's
1:01:23 fired
1:01:27 it's
1:01:27 crazy crazy crazy
1:01:31 crazy if I've V move $500 billion do to
1:01:34 Sam do we have a deal exactly Joe Mama
1:01:37 it's I I I I bet you I bet you there are
1:01:42 voice messages on Sam's voicemail that
1:01:46 are like just returned my call and I
1:01:49 will wire hundred billion doll into your
1:01:53 account I guarantee it
1:01:55 no term sheets no nothing just tell me
1:01:58 where to wire the
1:02:04 money boy it's what a what a weekend I
1:02:07 bet I man being in the bars in the in
1:02:09 the valley this weekend must be
1:02:15 insane and come Monday morning all will
1:02:17 be the same with it uh with open AI yeah
1:02:21 it's possibly it's very possible I just
1:02:25 don't know how regular people are
1:02:26 supposed to compete with pros and gpts
1:02:29 so Mr K they're not I I I agree with you
1:02:33 that they're not I think
1:02:37 that longterm what this comes down to
1:02:40 you I I saw one of your videos today
1:02:43 where where you created the teacher
1:02:44 guide for looking at um early drafts of
1:02:48 students papers or something like that
1:02:49 like here's your
1:02:51 rubric I think where the differentiator
1:02:54 becomes is you we basically seed the
1:02:57 power of creating these massively
1:03:00 powerful tools to the open AIS of the
1:03:02 world and then where we compete and
1:03:04 where where we all do our business is
1:03:07 with our own proprietary data so it's
1:03:10 it's the it's the interesting ways that
1:03:13 people are packaging their data and
1:03:15 putting together solutions for people is
1:03:17 where the value is going to be and and
1:03:20 so I I just think that it's going to
1:03:22 take
1:03:23 us I don't know 2 or 3 years while they
1:03:27 develop the technology and we figure out
1:03:29 the value of our data how how we figure
1:03:33 out you know what the new value chain
1:03:36 looks like what the new chain in
1:03:37 education looks like what the new chain
1:03:39 in manufacturing looks like what it
1:03:41 looks like in Consulting like there are
1:03:43 still going to be Consultants even
1:03:45 though we're going to have
1:03:46 tools that can do the Consulting as good
1:03:49 as a consultant or
1:03:52 better I still May trust Bob
1:03:55 right because I've worked with Bob for
1:03:58 30 years and I trust Bob's judgment and
1:04:00 even though the tool can do all the
1:04:02 stuff that Bob does I want Bob to use
1:04:05 the tool because I don't really want to
1:04:07 think about it I just want Bob to come
1:04:09 to me and go Kyle here's your direction
1:04:12 and so I think that I think that the
1:04:14 value of relationships goes up
1:04:16 dramatically in this new economy I think
1:04:18 the value of authenticity goes up
1:04:20 dramatically in this new economy and I
1:04:22 think the value of personal data whether
1:04:25 individual's data or company's private
1:04:28 data um goes up dramatically in value
1:04:32 everything else gets commoditized
1:04:34 executing the work just everything else
1:04:36 gets commoditized and not even
1:04:39 commoditized like everything else
1:04:41 essentially drops to zero in terms of
1:04:45 cost with the exception of running the
1:04:47 the big servers and that's what the big
1:04:49 companies are going to do is there a
1:04:50 scenario wait someone just had something
1:04:52 pinned that I lost oh here it is
1:04:55 Christopher Ramsey is there a scenario
1:04:56 where open AI shuts down the
1:04:59 gpts no no no because the gpts are the
1:05:03 natural evolution of plugins which did
1:05:05 not find a market fit gpts found a
1:05:08 market fit all of these um large
1:05:11 language models are going to go to an um
1:05:14 an an autonomous agent model where
1:05:17 instead of like going to chat GPT or
1:05:19 instead of going to a GPT and typing in
1:05:22 your prompt and getting back an answer
1:05:24 it'll just be more like you have a pile
1:05:26 of agents that you've signed up for and
1:05:30 you just they they learn who you are
1:05:33 like like chat GPT announced this three
1:05:35 days
1:05:36 ago that one of the next features in
1:05:39 chat GPT is memory so it's going to
1:05:43 remember who you are and all of the
1:05:45 conversations that you've had so as you
1:05:47 use it over time it's going to get
1:05:49 smarter and smarter and smarter about
1:05:52 what you want so we're we're all going
1:05:54 to have these agents that understand our
1:05:56 preferences our desires what we're up to
1:05:59 all the things we're saying and we're
1:06:00 going to go hey agent go do this thing
1:06:02 for me and it will just go off and take
1:06:04 action on our behalf so I don't think
1:06:08 these things go away at all I think they
1:06:10 continue to get increasingly powerful
1:06:13 right right now the the gpts are just
1:06:17 like you know like little red tricycles
1:06:20 it's like it's like a little pull wagon
1:06:22 that we've got and and you know they're
1:06:24 going to be F1 they're going to be
1:06:25 Formula 1 cars which by the by the way
1:06:27 you watching the the uh the race tonight
1:06:30 in Vegas starts at at 11 my time 11
1:06:34 Mountain Time 10 o'cl Vegas time so you
1:06:38 think it's good to experiment on both Po
1:06:40 and GPT is that's my bot plan for
1:06:46 the for the moment yeah I do I I do cuz
1:06:50 um po I found out yesterday po added
1:06:53 knowledge right so you know one of the
1:06:56 things that made
1:06:58 gpts more powerful than po was you could
1:07:01 upload your own data to it well po added
1:07:04 that yesterday or like I discovered it
1:07:06 yesterday but that's relatively new Po's
1:07:08 also monetized I think you can sell your
1:07:10 Poots for 20 bucks or something like
1:07:13 that I don't know what I don't know how
1:07:14 it is it's there's there's something
1:07:15 with Poots where you can monetize them
1:07:18 so you can do that right now so yeah I
1:07:21 would encourage you to to build both
1:07:23 gpts and
1:07:25 Poots um especially given what's
1:07:28 happening with open AI Adam Adam is no
1:07:31 Adam D'Angelo who's the CEO of quar who
1:07:35 owns po I don't depending how this plays
1:07:38 out either he's part of open Ai and he
1:07:42 gets his way and they get some sort of
1:07:45 preferential treatment for po or he's
1:07:47 ousted and just becomes a full-on
1:07:50 competitor to open Ai and Sam goes back
1:07:52 there um but but
1:07:56 but Po and chat GPT are likely going to
1:08:00 be competitors and there's probably
1:08:02 going to be some things that PO does
1:08:05 that are going to be interesting and and
1:08:07 unique and you know it's going to be
1:08:09 like well you can have a business on
1:08:11 Facebook you can have a business on
1:08:13 YouTube you can have a business on
1:08:14 Instagram you can have a business on Tik
1:08:17 Tok you know they're they're all kind of
1:08:19 the same thing but they're different
1:08:21 markets and they're different you know
1:08:23 feature sets and things like that so I I
1:08:25 could right now Po and
1:08:29 um and chat GPT are the really the only
1:08:33 two games in town doing it at that kind
1:08:34 of scale um but I guarantee you we're
1:08:38 going to see this from anthropic with
1:08:41 Claude um I guarantee you we're going to
1:08:44 see some really sexy version of this
1:08:46 from
1:08:47 Apple um I would be surprised if we
1:08:50 didn't see something like this in grock
1:08:52 but it'll probably come a bit later
1:08:56 um trying to think who else oh um Pi
1:09:01 inflection who the makers of Pi their
1:09:04 whole mission is to make the world's
1:09:07 best personal assistant so the
1:09:09 conversational thing you talk to with
1:09:11 the PI app Pi um that thing's going to
1:09:15 get the doors blown off it as well they
1:09:17 just raised a [ __ ] ton of money not that
1:09:19 long ago was an adultman who predicted
1:09:21 AGI will take a decade yet in September
1:09:24 he said it was realized
1:09:26 internally yeah yeah I think
1:09:30 so David Shapiro predicted six months
1:09:34 ago we would have AGI within 18 months
1:09:36 by any definition of the term and then
1:09:39 he made a follow-up
1:09:40 video like a month ago that said AGI
1:09:44 within 12 months so we're now at the
1:09:45 11mon range and he said I confirm you
1:09:48 know I still stand by I think we're
1:09:50 going to have AGI within a year about a
1:09:52 month ago and if it's true that they hit
1:09:55 it or they hit something very close to
1:09:57 it internally at open
1:09:59 AI uh then yeah we're going to probably
1:10:01 see it within a
1:10:03 year unlike normal boards open AI board
1:10:06 isn't focused on maximizing shareholder
1:10:08 value no investors right and that's one
1:10:10 of one of
1:10:12 the one of the reasons they acted like
1:10:16 ncum poops is probably that that exact
1:10:21 fact eye on China 3.5 right all my code
1:10:24 that's super cool I'm lost AGI I'm a
1:10:27 teacher there are too many acronyms in
1:10:30 my life sorry Mr K okay sorry wait let
1:10:34 me let me flip
1:10:36 here I'm gonna and I'm also gonna I'm
1:10:39 gonna go off that I'm going to go since
1:10:41 we got the F1 race coming up in a in a
1:10:43 couple hours we'll put we'll put Charles
1:10:47 Charles lir won the poll congratulations
1:10:52 Charles Charles
1:10:55 all right um
1:10:58 AGI
1:11:00 um AGI stands for artificial general
1:11:03 intelligence and AGI is basically when
1:11:07 these AI
1:11:09 tools can do the stuff that the median
1:11:13 human can
1:11:14 do so a well-educated
1:11:18 knowledge worker all the stuff they can
1:11:20 do except you know sans's physical
1:11:23 things right
1:11:25 now it can do all that on its own it can
1:11:28 reason it can take action um it can it
1:11:32 can do everything it could do you know
1:11:34 it could
1:11:35 do your job except dealing with with the
1:11:40 shitty with the shitty kids when the
1:11:42 kids are shitty
1:11:46 um so so it's when it's when um the AI
1:11:50 stops becoming a tool that we just use
1:11:52 like Microsoft Word and it becomes a
1:11:54 much more autonomous reasoning thing
1:11:56 that actually starts competing with and
1:11:59 making human workers not
1:12:03 necessary so all of the knowledge work
1:12:06 all of the creative work I don't I don't
1:12:09 know if you've seen some of the stuff
1:12:10 they're doing with GPT Vision right now
1:12:12 is insane there there was one
1:12:16 where there was one I saw I can probably
1:12:18 go pull some up there was one where they
1:12:20 screenshotted a website and then they
1:12:23 import Ed that and then they used GPT
1:12:25 vision and there was like this bar
1:12:27 scanning it and in the right hand pane
1:12:29 it was writing code from the top down
1:12:32 and it was writing the code and matching
1:12:34 it and then it was generating all the
1:12:35 images on the page like it it's just
1:12:38 doing crazy [ __ ] like that there was
1:12:40 another one I saw that it would you
1:12:43 you'd put a website in as an image it
1:12:45 would generate code it would then look
1:12:47 at what it created with the code
1:12:51 critique itself and then and then
1:12:53 rewrite the code look at it again
1:12:56 critique it so it just did this iter
1:12:57 iterative thing until it got it exactly
1:13:00 like the thing it was copying so like
1:13:02 that kind of stuff is is is just coming
1:13:04 Charles won the poll and signs got
1:13:06 leveled by a manhole cover cuno that the
1:13:10 fact that they that they're giving him a
1:13:12 10 Place grid penalty cuz they forgot to
1:13:15 [ __ ] weld the manhole covers down
1:13:18 that seems
1:13:20 like [ __ ]
1:13:22 stupid it just seems
1:13:25 dumb the [ __ ] are they
1:13:28 doing I mean come
1:13:32 on it's crazy AGI is Hell from 2001 and
1:13:37 median human is is a low bar uh yeah but
1:13:40 it's not but it's not CU because
1:13:45 it's you know a year ago not even a year
1:13:49 ago 11 and a half months ago when chat
1:13:52 GPT came out
1:13:54 everyone that I know that looked at it
1:13:56 was like yeah but it's not as creative
1:13:58 as me yeah but it's not as good a writer
1:14:00 as I am yeah but it's not this yeah but
1:14:02 it's not all of a sudden I don't hear
1:14:05 that anymore and if all of a sudden it
1:14:07 can do all the
1:14:09 work it can make the calls it can write
1:14:13 the follow-up emails it can negotiate
1:14:16 the deals it can um write good contracts
1:14:20 for the deals it can sign the deals it
1:14:22 can perform all the work work for the
1:14:25 deals it's a big deal even if the bar is
1:14:29 low even if the bar is low and and quite
1:14:33 frankly I think the the whatever the
1:14:36 level of median human
1:14:39 is I think that's level three AGI that
1:14:42 this group I think an MIT group came out
1:14:44 with this five five level scale of AGI I
1:14:48 think level three was median human level
1:14:50 four was
1:14:52 like better than 95% of humans and level
1:14:56 five was better than
1:14:58 99.5% of the humans or something like
1:15:01 that so who knows what level they
1:15:06 hit again like the the the other thing
1:15:09 that happens is once it goes
1:15:13 AGI it starts improving
1:15:16 itself this is this is the this is the
1:15:19 thing that the the Jeffrey hintons of
1:15:21 the world and the Ilia sovas of the
1:15:25 world were saying H this is a little
1:15:27 scary people because when it starts
1:15:30 improving itself it's quality goes up
1:15:36 exponentially and if you know anything
1:15:38 about exponential numbers they aren't
1:15:41 linear they go like this they go like
1:15:43 this David Shapiro talks about this all
1:15:45 the time he goes the thing about AGI is
1:15:48 that you do all this work and you get no
1:15:50 return no return no return no return no
1:15:52 return and when you finally hit it you
1:15:54 get all the return it's like
1:15:55 everything's done it's like the the the
1:16:00 uh you know the classic investing hockey
1:16:02 stick where you want to see you want to
1:16:04 get a company where it's just doing this
1:16:07 this stuff is is just full
1:16:10 vertical and so the implications of it
1:16:13 are [ __ ]
1:16:15 crazy right it it's
1:16:20 like it's it's out there go watch
1:16:23 Shapiro videos on
1:16:26 AGI actually Mr K you you would probably
1:16:30 love his videos go watch let me go find
1:16:32 you one of the videos um that I think is
1:16:35 really
1:16:47 [Music]
1:16:52 good the world is
1:17:05 changing which one is
1:17:10 it we's got a bunch if you go to
1:17:13 um if you go look at his popular videos
1:17:16 Singularity predictions this was from
1:17:19 everybody David Shapiro here with a
1:17:21 video so 7 months ago so this was 7
1:17:24 months ago talking about you know what
1:17:27 is the singularity when we hit it what
1:17:29 changes what's life going to look like
1:17:32 here's the one where he predicts AGI in
1:17:34 18
1:17:36 months um let me go see let me go look
1:17:39 at his
1:17:43 videos here's one what does AGI mean
1:17:47 this is John here just an informal one
1:17:49 called what does AGI
1:17:51 mean Clues to
1:18:03 GI should I go to college anyway just go
1:18:07 check out his stuff DAV David Shapiro I
1:18:10 think it's Dave shap yeah d a v s ha A
1:18:14 P um just go watch some of his videos
1:18:18 just just go watch
1:18:20 him his agent swarm stuff AGI will leave
1:18:24 us but it might come
1:18:28 back
1:18:31 yeah yeah so anyway that'll that like it
1:18:36 I I don't know there might be something
1:18:37 really interesting for there for you to
1:18:39 play with you turned off
1:18:41 comments how did I turn off
1:18:44 comments hang
1:18:47 on comment
1:18:49 settings comments are
1:18:52 on
1:18:58 can someone try commenting oh David
1:19:00 Shapiro what a brain he yeah
1:19:04 totally Joker I see comments
1:19:10 here Joker are you just [ __ ] with me
1:19:13 comments are rolling comments work
1:19:15 they're on Sherry D says they're on
1:19:17 lunatick she's she's happy with them be
1:19:20 not
1:19:21 afraid I think everyone you Joker wait
1:19:24 did I just maybe I turned Joker's
1:19:26 comments
1:19:45 off what's happening oh sorry my friend
1:19:49 I accidentally hit that I apologize
1:19:52 that's all right
1:19:54 all right yeah okay see you later
1:20:16 yeah my comments are off oh wait just
1:20:19 not seeing all thumbs
1:20:22 tonight just everything's going to [ __ ]
1:20:25 tonight hey wait let's go see if
1:20:26 anything changed in the open AI
1:20:29 [Laughter]
1:20:32 drama oh man this is
1:20:39 nuts I did a video on when when they
1:20:42 said Alman was coming back I did a
1:20:44 Twitter post I said it's the Keystone
1:20:46 cific of open
1:20:48 [Laughter]
1:20:51 AI it's just cuckoo
1:21:14 oh that was 18 hours ago so three
1:21:16 senior researchers left open AI
1:21:22 yesterday yeah I don't it doesn't look
1:21:24 like there's any new
1:21:26 news there's no new news people no new
1:21:52 news
1:22:03 yeah nothing nothing new wait all these
1:22:07 other names in the live are real people
1:22:10 oh
1:22:14 God you know you know P it's funny you
1:22:17 say that
1:22:19 like when I started this Tik Tok Channel
1:22:22 like my expectations for Tik Tok were
1:22:24 incredibly
1:22:25 low um Kyle explain how AGI cannot be
1:22:29 used for profit per open AI board
1:22:32 Charter I don't really understand it
1:22:35 well enough Ted to talk on
1:22:37 it
1:22:40 um but the the thing that I read earlier
1:22:44 is that whatever commercial deal that
1:22:47 they have with
1:22:49 Microsoft is essentially null and void
1:22:52 when they hit
1:22:54 AGI so mods please pin Kyle please have
1:22:58 guest after your monologue nightly 30
1:23:01 minutes yeah I might do that I could I
1:23:04 could potentially do that
1:23:07 um yeah the I mean the nature of what
1:23:10 these lives are has been changing
1:23:12 There's an opportunity I'm going to do
1:23:13 something on the oneyear anniversary of
1:23:16 chat GPT either like a 24-hour thing or
1:23:20 or I don't know some sort of thing where
1:23:22 people come up and talk so I haven't I
1:23:24 haven't figured it out yet and you're
1:23:25 like Kyle but that's only two weeks away
1:23:27 I'm like have you met someone with
1:23:31 ADD we'll figure it out we don't do [ __ ]
1:23:35 till it's urgent I don't know if you
1:23:36 knew that or
1:23:38 not I don't code because I'm lazy I
1:23:41 don't have the ability to grasp
1:23:43 it I don't code because I don't have the
1:23:45 attention span to do it longer than you
1:23:48 know once I get out of my adrenaline
1:23:51 rush of whatever I'm doing I'm I can't
1:23:53 work anymore so so coding coating
1:23:56 requires a lot of time after the
1:23:59 adrenaline rush and that's where it
1:24:00 kills me Luna stick's not
1:24:05 real just a blonde bot here very good
1:24:09 very good Mary Mary Broody is a chicken
1:24:11 oh that's true Broody hand digital
1:24:13 chicken
1:24:15 perfect um have Claude explain the open
1:24:18 AI Charter oh it does an excellent job
1:24:21 oh that's interesting
1:24:24 let's go let's go play with some actual
1:24:29 toys
1:24:32 [Music]
1:24:34 um um so we'll go to
1:24:39 Claud and then we'll go here and we'll
1:24:41 go um
1:24:46 open
1:24:51 AI the open AI
1:24:57 Charter all
1:25:04 right wait where is
1:25:06 it is this
1:25:09 it is it this
1:25:12 short long-term safety that can't be
1:25:15 that can't be
1:25:21 it
1:25:27 we commit to use any influence we obtain
1:25:30 over AGI deployment to ensure the use to
1:25:32 benefit all and to avoid enabling uses
1:25:36 of AI or AGI to harm Humanity or unduly
1:25:39 concentrate
1:25:44 power that can't be
1:25:47 it
1:25:50 Charter is that this
1:26:13 menu
1:26:14 H anybody know I just dropped nonprofit
1:26:18 points
1:26:20 about Charter in Irregulars you said
1:26:23 charger but I assume you meant
1:26:26 Charter Discord in
1:26:29 Irregulars Ted looks at life okay so
1:26:34 let's fifth the board determines oh okay
1:26:37 here we go so thanks Ted the open AI
1:26:40 Charter okay so so we'll just read
1:26:42 through these first for first the
1:26:45 for-profit subsidiary is fully
1:26:47 controlled by the
1:26:48 nonprofit We enacted this by having the
1:26:51 nonprofit hold fully own and control a
1:26:55 manager
1:26:56 entity open AIG gpp LLC that has the
1:26:59 power to control and govern the
1:27:01 for-profit
1:27:03 subsidiary second because the board is
1:27:06 still the board of a
1:27:09 nonprofit and hence why they're acting
1:27:12 like a non-commercial board apparently
1:27:16 each director must perform their
1:27:17 fiduciary duties in furtherance of the
1:27:20 nonprofit's mission Safe AG is broadly
1:27:24 beneficial safe AGI that is broadly
1:27:27 beneficial while the for-profit
1:27:29 subsidiary is permitted to make and
1:27:31 distribute profit it's subject to the it
1:27:35 it is subject to this Mission the
1:27:37 nonprofit's principal beneficiary is
1:27:40 Humanity not open AI investors third the
1:27:43 board remains majority independent
1:27:46 independent directors do not hold equity
1:27:48 in open AI That's why Sam Alman doesn't
1:27:50 own any um any equity and that's why he
1:27:53 made that joke about hey if I do
1:27:54 something bad they can take away my
1:27:56 Equity it was that was a joke there were
1:27:58 a bunch of people that were like see
1:28:00 they like he doesn't have any all right
1:28:03 even open AI uh CEO Sam Alman does not
1:28:07 hold Equity his only interest is
1:28:09 indirectly through a y combinator
1:28:10 investment fund that made a small
1:28:12 investment on open AI before he was
1:28:14 full-time fourth profit allocation to
1:28:17 investors and employees including
1:28:19 Microsoft is capped at 100x I think all
1:28:22 residual value created above and beyond
1:28:25 that cap will be returned to the
1:28:26 nonprofit for the benefit of humanity so
1:28:29 that's why he created worldcoin and
1:28:31 World ID and the whole um uh Universal
1:28:35 basic income mechanism and then fifth
1:28:37 this is the one that Ted just
1:28:38 highlighted the board determines that
1:28:41 when we've attained
1:28:42 AGI Again by AGI we mean a highly
1:28:46 autonomous system that outperforms
1:28:49 humans at most economically valuable
1:28:53 work so let me read that again so if
1:28:55 you're still here Mr K AGI means highly
1:28:59 autonomous
1:29:00 system that outperforms humans at most
1:29:05 economically valuable
1:29:07 work most economically valuable work if
1:29:12 you go watch David Shapiro on his post
1:29:16 AGI economy
1:29:19 theories when the AGI can just do all of
1:29:23 our
1:29:24 work then we got to figure out what we
1:29:29 do and and this is trippy [ __ ] this is
1:29:32 what's trippy about it is that this is
1:29:35 not 20 years in the
1:29:38 future like we're on the verge of
1:29:42 this such a system is excluded from IP
1:29:46 licenses and other commercial terms with
1:29:49 Microsoft which only apply to the pre
1:29:51 AGI technology so so what they're saying
1:29:54 here
1:29:55 is once they hit AGI Microsoft can't
1:29:59 roll AGI into Office
1:30:01 365 it somehow gets back out to humanity
1:30:06 how does it do that I don't [ __ ] know
1:30:08 like this
1:30:11 is like we are we we are so quickly
1:30:14 having to
1:30:17 confront stuff that we thought was
1:30:20 science fiction a year
1:30:23 ago and now we're like oh these tools
1:30:25 are cool and now it's
1:30:28 like
1:30:29 well you know we we we are maybe on the
1:30:33 verge of you know within let's call it
1:30:35 three to five years and it might be
1:30:37 sooner than that according to David
1:30:38 Shapiro it's within 12
1:30:41 months systems that can do all the work
1:30:44 that we
1:30:50 do musk has AGI too I seriously doubt
1:30:53 that or he would be he would
1:30:56 be he would be touting it everywhere and
1:30:59 they're fully self-driving cars wouldn't
1:31:02 be
1:31:04 crashing if he had
1:31:06 it um this is the point of why Sam was
1:31:09 booted yeah that that's what it sounds
1:31:11 like Ted I I think that's right it it it
1:31:14 just seems like so so Sam made a comment
1:31:17 on the at the end of the keynote on dev
1:31:21 day
1:31:24 that said what we're going to show you
1:31:26 next year will make what we showed you
1:31:28 today look quaint and what they what
1:31:31 they launched on dev day was gpts and
1:31:34 all the cool API
1:31:36 enhancements and then last week Sam says
1:31:39 there's been four times in his time at
1:31:42 open AI one of them a couple of weeks
1:31:45 ago where basically he saw [ __ ]
1:31:51 change
1:32:04 more there is
1:32:06 more more what
1:32:10 have analy
1:32:21 that
1:32:36 Charter but if you haven't seen chat GPT
1:32:39 division let's do
1:32:42 that
1:32:50 scre paper clip clippy I can pick on
1:32:53 clippy clip on CLI on
1:33:05 clippy a technology
1:33:09 historian
1:33:18 fut a historian and futurist who
1:33:23 understands historical context as well
1:33:51 as
1:33:54 you hear me
1:34:08 now see book about AI can you hear me
1:34:10 now no
1:34:13 okay
1:34:20 um
1:34:22 I'm
1:34:24 leave I'm GNA leave and come back leave
1:34:28 and back
1:34:50 okay
