24. 6:17movement it's very moving it's so nice to have like the last two weeks there's just been like some [ __ ] joy in the world again

35. 8:50conversation so if Obama was hope Harris's joy that works cuz uh whatever it's been 12 years of [ __ ] cynicism and War like internal
36. 9:06War culture War I'm [ __ ] tired of it and my glasses broke see my little tape here like a [ __ ] nerd like right before ready to come on

40. 10:02spoke showed off some of the new stuff talked about some of what's coming to LTX Studio which sounds actually pretty
41. 10:10exciting that tool gets better and better I'm impressed with that I'm impressed he was [ __ ] impressive he's a community manager so
42. 10:18I'm kind of expecting a community manager to be like yeah I got you know I did social media for an ad Agency for a
43. 10:26year and now I'm doing this this guy had a master's in Masters in or no he's going for a masters in like product design or
44. 10:36human Design Systems thinking some [ __ ] like that I don't know anyway he was really impressive nvo and he called in from [Music] Israel
45. 10:50and for anyone who was at the AI Salon I asked at the end I said Hey listen if anyone is at the in this meeting tonight and they don't have
46. 11:01access to LTX Studio could you hook us up and he didn't hesitate and he's like yeah send me an email with all the names
47. 11:10of people who want a license and I'll send you back codes to get in so you should have been there should have [ __ ] been there Brandon was
48. 11:25[Music] there so that was cool and then um we had we had a gentleman named Jason M Allen you may or may not
49. 11:41know but you kind of know him so let me go see you'll find something here I'm like totally paranoid my glasses are just going to fall off my
50. 11:52face cuz they're probably going to fall off my face I didn't do a very good tape job I just did it right before I came on

59. 14:11was oh I'll okay forever hooked I'll talk about that and it was um it was AI art and the entire art community lost
60. 14:20their [ __ ] and started attacking him and you know did that for a year year and a half they're still kind of doing it he got death
61. 14:27threats people were encouraging him to take care of himself and not be on the [Music] planet so he went from this really
62. 14:38joyous moment of hey I won this contest to [Music] uh becoming the poster child for is AI
63. 14:53art that's a that's a bit of a that's a bit of a cross to bear that's a really bad version of that that picture by the
64. 14:59way what they take that with a [ __ ] disposable film camera let's
65. 15:15[Music] see there it is with its Blue Ribbon oh my God advertising on websites it could we be done with the entire
66. 15:30[ __ ] advertising industry good [Laughter] Lord anyway he spoke tonight and
67. 15:46was actually quite moving it was funny when I talked to him I talked to him this afternoon about you know coming
68. 15:56on and it it was like the first thing he said to me was he was like he was like if I come off a little defensive that's cuz I'm a little
69. 16:06defensive cuz he's been being attacked for like two years for making this actually really beautiful piece of
70. 16:12art and it wasn't just this piece of art it was many pieces of Art and it was 680 prompts and it was a lot of work and a
71. 16:19lot of curation and a lot of modification and three different no I don't want my news summarized each day could you stop
72. 16:31interrupting my talk you [ __ ] sales funnel morons well you know if they sit on a page for 38 seconds we found
73. 16:41statistically that if they're on the page for 38 seconds they've stopped paying attention but they're still in
74. 16:47front of their computers so what we're going to go ahead and do is we're going to just pop up what we call an
75. 16:52interstial that would be an interruptive experience that the end user would for some reason think that they are having
76. 16:59some sort of stroke out event where they see a flash of light and look up to say am I going to my maker and what they
77. 17:07realize is oh we could sell them something at that moment and have them subscribe so so that wouldn't happen
78. 17:13again so that's our recommendation is the 38 second interstitial yes we we recommend completely uding a said article the
79. 17:24content underneath it is a is you know not as relevant at that 38 second mark because they have of course stopped paying
80. 17:37attention that guy needs to be fired okay I'm sorry what was I saying you know what you know what people this is not
81. 17:50add this is just being observant in the world and the world is [ __ ] annoying
82. 18:05ah sorry where was I uh Jason Allen um and so Jason because this work got all sorts of you know Kudos and death threats and
83. 18:19all that sort of stuff this is his work and he wanted to protect it and so he tried to protect it with the
84. 18:27copyright office the copyright office said um uh Dear Mr Allen uh we cordially invite you to go on ahead and go [ __ ]
85. 18:36yourself if that's if that's good with you we're going to go on ahead and say no you can't copyright that you can't
86. 18:42copyright art that that the robot made and then he appealed it and they said well after further considerations
87. 18:52uh we would cordially invite you to once again go on ahead and go [ __ ] yourself and then there was the second
88. 18:59and last appeal at the copyright office and they said uh as we stated before Mr Allen uh we think you're a fine person
89. 19:07and all we just don't think you're a fine artist so we're going to cordially invite you to go on ahead for the third
90. 19:13time and the final time go [ __ ] yourself and so he is now engaged a lawyer and he's going to appeals court and he was you
91. 19:26know telling us his whole story and it was amazing and so one of the things that we're going to do at the AI Salon
92. 19:32is is we're going to take a position on this particular issue cuz it is it really is quite important and and you know when you
93. 19:43heard this guy and the amount of work that he put into this work and and to be kind of summarily just [ __ ] [ __ ] slapped by the art
94. 19:55community like Beyond [ __ ] SLA just sort of cast at from the art community you know and his point is this
95. 20:04[ __ ] isn't going away this is not fundamentally different than a digital camera right what is the human input on a digital camera
96. 20:14this right on a traditional camera I guess on a traditional camera you have to you have to unwind the uh the first 3
97. 20:22Ines of film and close the camera back and then do this but the digital camera it's been reduced to just
98. 20:31this and so somehow the copyright office has sort of [Music] missed the basic understanding of basic technology that's already covered by
99. 20:45[ __ ] copyright law very interested in learning more yeah lunar stick I'll get you the uh I should have the video now soon as this

101. 20:59passionate about the case he's got he's educated about the cases that that have come before on copyright and how um he
102. 21:08didn't feel like strategically they did the right thing and he's he feel he's really confident he's got a good
103. 21:15strategy here and and now it goes to the courts this is going above the copyright office so this could go you know court
104. 21:21number one the appeals court and then the Supreme Court so this could if it doesn't go well could end up running all
105. 21:28the way to the Supreme Court which is fascinating please tell me about flux I saw Vicky's comparison wow just trying

107. 21:45go ahead and find it I don't the the one that I have access to is called ever art. and I think I signed up to it some
108. 21:53time ago cuz now they don't they don't have a free version of it I I for some reason had 500 credits in it um or 500
109. 22:02image Generations so um I don't know where to get flux you can also if you want to geek out and install it as open
110. 22:10source you can use a thing called Pinocchio there's some tutorials out there but I haven't done that yet either
111. 22:20cuz I'm a Los baby why don't you sue me millions of duct tape a Millions for a duct tape banana on a wall and this is not art yeah
112. 22:35exactly and you know I mean you know what he was talking about was he had a whole concept for this right there was a whole this is like
113. 22:43there's there's this long narrative of what led him he didn't just go to Mid journey and go make me a piece of
114. 22:50Renaissance looking art with a hole in it he did 684 prompts and you know that's four images for each prompt in
115. 23:00mid Journey right so whatever that is 2500 images to end up with the two or three that he submitted to the to the competition
116. 23:11right or maybe he just submitted one I don't [ __ ] know um so anyway so that that was the second
117. 23:25speaker we had tonight it was just it was a really good night and if you're wondering well what the hell are you talking about there

123. 24:16AI Salon meet and greet and that's where you can come meet like the people that hang out here and the people that are
124. 24:23part of the AI salon and get to know them and talk about what you're up to in the world and what you need what you need help on things like
125. 24:31[Music] that this Salon was so important it really was I felt the same way Cosmic lover I felt like like like as it was
126. 24:42happening I'm like holy [ __ ] like this is this is important and that story's kind of been forgotten and he's got a
127. 24:50really good strategy to maybe like snap the [ __ ] copyright office out of their [ __ ] you know it's new technology it can't be art if
128. 25:03it's new technology you know it took 27 years to acknowledge uh photographs as copyrightable 27 years all you do is
129. 25:17push a button and here's the exact the exact same [ __ ] thing a slightly different technology it doesn't have a physical
130. 25:31lens but you write a prompt you push a button it generates [Music] something I mean part of his argument is mid Journey didn't prompt
131. 25:47itself mid Journey didn't come up with that mid Journey didn't have the concept of a a theatrical Space Opera
132. 26:02Jason Allen did that by definition is human contribution so anyway that was cool that was really cool well I hijacked another networking

138. 27:05he was talking about AI the other day and he was like it's really impressive and I was like yeah well whatever yeah I
139. 27:12mean you know so so Chili's on a Thursday the the the poppers special at Chili's is is pretty impressive but I
140. 27:18wouldn't I wouldn't go there every Thursday you know what I mean so uh I'm not going to try AI just yet so but that

188. 36:59perfectly acceptable it's it's just it's not as efficient so what what we propose is a new format called Web P web web p
189. 37:07is a it's a it's a format very similar to jpeg without the artifacts very similar to the PNG with the with more of
190. 37:15a what what we call an efficiency uh ratio what what what I can say is this we're we're going to roll out the webp
191. 37:24format to 222% of software on the internet over the next 5 years well what about the other 78% of software well well we're hoping over the
192. 37:36the next 13 decades that that the adoption of the the the new webp format uh will be U Universal uh of course you

405. 1:24:13API so it it will adhere to that schema so basically what that means is your programmers can set a set of you know
