12. 3:32done but what I said a year ago tonight I got home and I thought wonder what would happen if I just went live instead of
13. 3:46racing every night I went live every night what if I did it for a year [Music]
14. 4:09and that was a year ago it's a year ago did it and most of those videos are up on the YouTube

38. 10:21sessions is really kind of cool it's really powerful so I learned that I learned that the irregular the people that show up just night after

41. 10:48that show up here night after night and help make sense of this madness is I try to thank them but I think it's relatively thankless work I

48. 12:17tools that we use every day and it's it's somehow it's not that it's less remarkable it's that it's maybe it's that it's [Music]

52. 13:19GPT he did a couple of interviews that were weird where he was like he was like yeah we're going to release release it slowly we
53. 13:33want we want people to prepare for what's coming we want people to like to gradually ramp it
54. 13:48up and there was like the tech bro side of me was like just give us the [ __ ] [ __ ] man give us a good ass Sam mman you big dumb dumb
55. 14:00and then he released GPT 4 and it was pretty good but it was this weird sort of segmented thing and then
56. 14:10in October November I think it was the beginning of November they dropped gpts and they made chat GPT truly
57. 14:24multimodal and I felt like that's when things got a little serious cuz it's like uh this this shit's actually pretty close
58. 14:36now but we're still playing with the the tool that is 2 years old and like right now there's this tool out there called
59. 14:52um gpt2 chatbot [Music] and you're like but Kyle we're on GPT 4 but there's a mystery model in the world right now that only lives over at
60. 15:08the uh large language model Arena it's it's the computer uh research group that's got that comparison Arena so it's it's live
61. 15:19over there it's called chat gpt2 Das chatbot and according to people using it I haven't really played with it yet I
62. 15:29haven't I haven't been able to find it in a in a standalone usable form but according to the people that are playing with it it's
63. 15:36like as good or better as chat GPT 4 and so the the the most the thing I want to believe the
64. 15:53most is that it's from open AI it is the gpt2 model but it's been fine-tuned on something that makes it really [ __ ]
65. 16:07good and it could be trained on qar which is the reasoning engine that was the rumor of why Sam Alman got fired so
66. 16:17that's happening right around this year year as well so you know the rumor is that Midsummer is when we'll see GPT 5 and it's possible
67. 16:29we get a gpt2 that's been optimized a gpt3 that's been optimized a four that's been optimized and then a five but it's all
68. 16:39speculation right now [Music]

70. 17:03they as they keep upping the models the previous models will probably would probably become free I would think and [Music]
71. 17:26cheaper and and not only that because um llama 370 billion parameter model that meta dropped I was listening to the CEO of
72. 17:38grock the um the chip company not not the the large language model in Twitter but the the chip company he said that the they're hosting
73. 17:50llama 3 on their grock servers and it's 10 times cheaper than chat gp4 and he says he's seen a lot of
74. 17:59companies just switching completely from open AI chat GPT fors API to Gro using the Llama you know 70 billion parameter
75. 18:08model so it's 10 times cheaper so you know I think we're [Music] getting we're getting close to that place where things start [Music]
76. 18:23to start to accelerate again then we've got the the worldwide uh developers conference from Apple is coming up in on June something 10th
77. 18:36maybe I don't know and they've got a May 7th iPad event which I think you [Music] know so I think we'll see something from
78. 18:51Apple in June and then I think what it starts to look like I did a cool thing with the rabbit today with this thing
79. 19:01um I showed a guy that in the building that I work in I showed this to him and I showed him what it did and then I I
80. 19:08turned on the camera and I I pointed at him and it said you know it's an old man Apple to announce the eye rabbit yeah exactly exactly
81. 19:18um and when he saw that it could describe objects he's in the business of he's he works for a company that does um
82. 19:29like physician liability stuff like like if if Physicians miss a diagnosis they're about going in and teaching them
83. 19:37here's how you could have asked better questions to get to a better diagnosis that sort of [ __ ] so he goes I wonder if
84. 19:43this would work if if we just aim it at a like a doctor's you know patient ID stuff or not patient ID but patient
85. 19:55um like a health record like like like a a record of the the notes from a doctor's visit and he said I have a
86. 20:02bunch of synthetic data that I generated let's just go see and so we held it up to this synthetic data and he was just
87. 20:08asking it questions like what's going on with this patient and it just described it and then it said you know is this
88. 20:16patient at risk for having an aeric dissection or some some [ __ ] like that and it said it said yes and here's
89. 20:25why um and he was just kind of Gob smacked and and you know so right now this is sending data up to the cloud but
90. 20:33I think when Apple comes out with their on device Ai and and when these models get more optimized and you know on our phones we
91. 20:42have local large language models that are gp4 class but running locally um I think a lot of things change I think I think lots of things
92. 20:53change and then the big con um commercial models you know do what they're going to do where they get they
93. 21:01become agents and do all sorts of [ __ ] for us and have reasoning so I think we're in the Calm before the storm so what do y'all

193. 40:07happens is let's say you started out talking about a yellow submarine and all of this is about a yellow submarine and
194. 40:14the specs and how deep it can go and blah blah blah blah blah and then at some point down here you're typing and
195. 40:21you're like you know what color is the submarine and it's like submarines are made by the Navy and they're generally
196. 40:27gray or right and completely forgot we were talking about yellow submarines that's because when the the top of the
197. 40:34text goes out of the context window it literally forgets it so your active conversation is however big that context
198. 40:44window is chat GPT right now is 4,000 tokens small that's like 3,000 words so you know not long
199. 40:58um chat GPT turbo is supposed to be 128,000 or 125,000 tokens but that's not in chat GPT right now you can go play
200. 41:08with that elsewhere but it's not in chat GPT if you go to Claude Claude 3 Opus is 200,000 tokens so that's like 150,000
201. 41:18words and to put that in context um Grapes of Wrath I think it is is a 50,000-word novel so the entire Grapes of Wrath in a if if if the Tik
202. 41:30Tock screen here is the entire context window if this is 200 thou if it's 150,000 words and you have a 50,000-word
203. 41:39novel it'll only take up about that much of the context window so you can paste in the entire Grapes of Wrath and then
204. 41:47have it rewrite the entire Grapes of Wrath not using the letter a and it will it'll [ __ ] it up right but
205. 41:57in theory if it could write 50,000 words right and in a million context window right 50,000 words would only
206. 42:07take up this amount down here in chat GPT 50,000 words wouldn't even be processable so I hope that helps ah that

208. 42:26what's happening um and and so the the 3/4 of if you have a million tokens you have approximately 750,000 words that's just

210. 42:45window doesn't mean the model is inherently better just has more space well yes yes and no Pate the it it can do completely different things
211. 43:00there's other things about uh Gemini 1.5 Pro the fact that it's truly multimodal because it's got a million token context
212. 43:09window you can upload 11 hours of audio and it just understands it it doesn't transcribe it and then you're
213. 43:18interacting with the transcript you can upload 11 hours of audio and it just or an hour of video and just ask Gemini Pro

215. 43:35ground or whatever like it it knows that um and does nothing good with it yeah but you know it's it's it's not bad the
216. 43:47the Gemini model is not bad it's pretty good it does some like Gemini does weird [ __ ] like I don't know if you knew this but Google
217. 44:00owns this little site where some people stick videos called YouTube and in theory Gemini should be [ __ ] kickass
218. 44:14at interacting with YouTube and about a third of the time I interact with it and ask it about something about YouTube
219. 44:21it's like I'm I can't look at YouTube videos and then sometimes it can sometimes it I don't know it's a
220. 44:30mess are you Gemini splaining to me no I'm talking to other people you dumb dumb I know you know about Gemini but it's it it like
221. 44:44it it is a competent you know it's like a GPT 3.5 class or you know almost four class model so it's like a competent
222. 44:53model but that million token context window and the fact that it's multimodal make it pretty useful I dig
223. 45:01it I mean someone just asked what was my second favorite large language model and I think I think that's it right now I
224. 45:08don't I don't use it a lot like I use I use the tools that I use and just my go-to for most things is chat GPT

226. 45:27[ __ ] up wi-fi system at work and I couldn't figure out how to how to connect this to it so I just Hots
227. 45:33spotted to my phone and it worked fine but then when your Hotpot times out and you try to reconnect it it gives you an
228. 45:41error and you can't you can't reconnect to your Hotpot without forgetting the Wi-Fi network waiting for it to cycle
229. 45:49back into the list and then reconnecting it so it's like ah just make this [ __ ]

492. 1:37:41today like there's a lot of nights the last thing on the [ __ ] planet I want to do is hit the live button for these
493. 1:37:50things and then [ __ ] 10 minutes into it someone will say something this thing changed I got a promotion I got someone
494. 1:37:59asked me about I taught someone how to do something I made a difference for someone like it like you can just the
495. 1:38:05joy the joy of them being in that place is [ __ ] infectious and so yeah and it is it is emotional and it is vulnerable and it
496. 1:38:17is exciting and it is exhausting you know being being on being vulnerable is
497. 1:38:32exhausting but it's also completely [ __ ] invigorating so you know and I think like if I just I just I look back
498. 1:38:40at my whole career that's been the through line of it is is do everything I can to be in the presence of or inspire people to be more
499. 1:38:50self-expressed side hustle MIM me it's really hard for me to sh share and to connect without second guessing but not here oh that's awesome

501. 1:39:09non- insane AI learning lab world you just have the guts to do a little bit I'll just share a little bit and and you know what happens

503. 1:39:37place when you do that in the presence of other people they want more of it they're like how that was amazing who are you how do
504. 1:39:47you what do you hm can I get some of that and for me that when when I get that response I'm like okay I'm going to run away
505. 1:40:02now but that's Humanity man that's Humanity when someone is in touch with who they are and they find a way to
506. 1:40:09articulate that and share that with other people that's where the [ __ ] magic is and it's it's one of the things that
507. 1:40:18I think is the most um counterintuitive about AI we keep calling these things Bots right but they are reflections of the
508. 1:40:29output of humanity that got dumped onto the internet so in a weird way what we're interacting with are ghosts of our former selves right
509. 1:40:41generationally you know into Antiquity and you know and
510. 1:40:59so so I think these these tools are counterintuitively giving us each individually and collectively mechanisms
511. 1:41:12to ReDiscover our passions and share them with the world cuz maybe it feels less risky right maybe if instead of me having to
512. 1:41:22go to four years of art school and then slogging for another four years to just be able to draw a [ __ ]
513. 1:41:29face now I can just have a vision for oh I have these ideas of what these faces should look like and then I can go into
514. 1:41:37mid journey and bang there they are and I can share that Vision with the world that's what Kelly Bosch um shared with
515. 1:41:44us is that some someone asked her if you don't know her work uh she's Kelly Bosch on Tik Tok her her her work
516. 1:41:53just [ __ ] staggering she keeps exploring it too but someone asked her they were like baffled they were like
517. 1:41:59how do you come up with all these ideas like how do you come up with all these prompts and and she said oh it's easy
518. 1:42:06and I like I could sense in the room other people going like what what the [ __ ] do you mean it's easy and what she
519. 1:42:11said was I've had these ideas in my head my whole life and I've never been able to get them out and AI let her get them out
520. 1:42:24she's an incredibly accomplished creative professional right she's got the capacity to get creative workout but there was
521. 1:42:33some particular expression of who she was she couldn't figure out how to manifest and then mid Journey came along
522. 1:42:42and boom she was like oh that's me and like when she talked about making these videos she's like I can't wait to
523. 1:42:52get the next half hour of free time so I can make more she's not judging that it was AI that did it she's
524. 1:43:05not judging that she's not hand painting it in Photoshop she's just saying I have these ideas in my head and this tool
525. 1:43:13lets me put it in the world so I'm just putting it in the world and then people are [ __ ] moved moved by it inspired by
526. 1:43:21it and she's a little bit like uh I'm just kind of doing this on my couch I remember early in the irregular
527. 1:43:33steo was so encouraging for my early images so kind and helpful yeah yeah I know and I mean Corey Sandler's another
528. 1:43:42one I mean she like if you're an artist you're an artist right you you you you got Visions right and then you figure out
529. 1:43:51ways to get them in the world and it doesn't really matter what the channel is whether it's a potter's wheel or you
