2:41 good evening good people happy Tuesday
2:45 [Music]
2:50 night
2:52 365 days tonight was the first night I
2:56 went live on Tik Tock a year ago
3:01 so prior to that I would do my sim
3:08 racing and I can't do Sim racing anymore
3:12 I got a I got a free graphics card off
3:14 the
3:16 internet and it didn't have the right
3:18 cable so I got a cable from
3:20 some Bargain Basement PC repair shop and
3:24 I blew something up when I tried to put
3:26 it back together so so my my racing she
3:30 is
3:32 done but what I said a year ago
3:36 tonight I got home and I
3:39 thought wonder what would
3:43 happen if I just went live instead of
3:46 racing every night I went live every
3:49 night what if I did it for a year
3:52 [Music]
4:09 and that was a year ago it's a year
4:12 ago did
4:18 it and most of those
4:21 videos are up on the YouTube
4:24 [Music]
4:43 I'm feeling like at some
4:48 point a Year's worth of let's say I
4:51 average two hours a
4:55 night and with the couple of times I got
4:57 banned and the couple of times I took
4:59 off let's say it's I don't know 340 days
5:04 340 days something like
5:06 [Applause]
5:15 that so like 650 700 hours of video of
5:20 me acting like an idiot
5:23 [Music]
5:32 like are there books in
5:35 [Music]
5:54 there are we two years away from I'll be
5:57 able to take that
5:59 content and turn it into a virtual me
6:01 that's actually got personality and
6:03 Dynamics and things like that Source
6:07 Camp dedication and we love you for it a
6:10 thank you very much that's very
6:11 [Music]
6:15 sweet Amelio's wife was here that first
6:18 night good to see you Amelio's
6:21 [Music]
6:22 wife yeah one flipping year thank you
6:25 Robert
6:26 Rossy thank you for the Thunderbolts
6:31 we did a lot of you can make money with
6:34 I must have pushed this button at least
6:35 365
6:38 times sometimes a
6:44 night yeah crazy
6:48 right in that
6:51 time someone invented
6:54 this and I ordered one and got it
7:01 [Music]
7:15 [Music]
7:19 side House Old Mimi you missed the
7:20 unboxing um I'll get the video
7:25 up I put up a little funny little clip
7:28 last night where
7:30 I I got it to go into translation mode
7:33 where it would translate English to
7:34 Spanish and Spanish to English but I
7:36 couldn't figure out how to get out of it
7:38 that was pretty funny
7:41 [Music]
8:03 Champ's here champy you want to
8:05 sing here A minor
8:12 [Music]
8:13 [Applause]
8:13 [Music]
8:26 [Applause]
8:27 [Music]
8:38 so what have I learned in a
8:41 year I learned that there's some really
8:43 remarkable people on this
8:46 [Music]
8:48 planet and I learned
8:53 that my understanding of
8:57 what media is Chang changed my
9:01 understanding of what having a Tik Tok
9:02 channel is
9:05 changed my understanding of what these
9:07 lives were
9:13 changed Cindy [ __ ] described it to me
9:16 really good the other day she said she
9:19 she
9:19 said it was just this side of Kyle it
9:22 doesn't really matter if you're there or
9:24 not like we've got our whole other thing
9:27 going on in the comments
9:30 and like that that for me is the real
9:32 magic of this channel is that is
9:37 [Music]
9:38 that it went from me thinking this was
9:41 about
9:42 me entertaining putting stuff out there
9:46 making content to just kind of showing
9:49 up and hanging out and it really being
9:54 [Music]
10:14 like the fact that these are more like
10:15 jam sessions than they are and not
10:18 musical Jam sessions but like
10:19 intellectual Jam
10:22 sessions is really kind of cool it's
10:24 really
10:25 powerful so I learned
10:27 that I learned that the irregular the
10:30 people that show up just night after
10:31 night after night are batshit
10:34 crazy and I wouldn't have it any other
10:38 way they're not weird they're
10:41 [Music]
10:43 irregular I also learned that there are
10:45 people on this planet that are just like
10:47 they just want to help like the mods
10:49 that show up here night after night and
10:51 help make sense of this
10:53 madness is I try to thank them but I
10:56 think it's relatively thankless work I
10:58 try to thank them but I don't do it
11:02 enough so thank you mods thank you
11:05 [Music]
11:18 Irregulars I think the other thing
11:20 that's kind of happened
11:24 [Music]
11:28 is this Channel started out very much as
11:31 none of us knew
11:35 anything and then I kind of feel like it
11:37 went through a phase of like well we
11:39 kind of know some stuff there's still a
11:40 bunch of people that know nothing and I
11:42 think that's still
11:44 [Music]
11:49 true but there's sort of been
11:53 a for me
11:57 anyway a normalization of
12:00 AI like I built some of it into my
12:02 software platform at
12:06 storyvine some automations I built more
12:09 than a year ago are still functioning
12:11 and working in my
12:13 business and they're just tools that
12:16 like there's just there's just these
12:18 tools that we use every day and
12:23 it's it's
12:25 somehow it's not that it's less
12:27 remarkable it's that it's maybe it's
12:29 that it's
12:30 [Music]
12:42 [Music]
12:50 novel and and then I also feel
12:55 like there's about you know the the
12:58 phrase the other shoes about to
13:01 drop I feel like there's like a semi
13:04 trctor trailer full of shoes about to
13:06 drop I feel like we're in the quiet
13:08 before the storm actually with
13:10 [Music]
13:13 AI you know it's
13:16 funny when Sam Alman first launched chat
13:19 GPT he did a couple of
13:22 interviews that were weird where he was
13:25 like he was like yeah we're going to
13:29 release release it slowly we
13:33 want we want people to prepare for
13:36 what's coming we want people
13:44 to like to gradually ramp it
13:49 up and there was like the tech bro side
13:52 of me was like just give us the [ __ ]
13:53 [ __ ] man give us a good ass Sam mman you
13:57 big dumb dumb
14:01 and then he released GPT
14:03 4 and it was pretty good but it was this
14:06 weird sort of segmented thing and then
14:10 in October November I think it was the
14:14 beginning of
14:17 November they dropped gpts and they made
14:21 chat GPT truly
14:24 multimodal and I felt like that's when
14:27 things got a little serious cuz it's
14:29 like uh this this shit's actually pretty
14:32 close
14:37 now but we're still playing with the the
14:39 tool that is 2 years
14:48 old and like right now there's this tool
14:50 out there called
14:52 um gpt2 chatbot
14:56 [Music]
14:59 and you're like but Kyle we're on GPT
15:02 4 but there's a mystery model in the
15:06 world right now that only lives over at
15:08 the uh large language model Arena it's
15:11 it's the
15:13 computer uh research group that's got
15:16 that comparison Arena so it's it's live
15:20 over there it's called chat gpt2 Das
15:26 chatbot and according to people using it
15:28 I haven't really played with it yet I
15:29 haven't I haven't been able to find it
15:31 in a in a standalone usable form but
15:34 according to the people that are playing
15:35 with it it's
15:37 like as good or better as chat GPT
15:42 4 and so the
15:46 the the
15:50 most the thing I want to believe the
15:54 most is that it's from open
15:57 AI it is the gpt2
16:01 model but it's been fine-tuned on
16:04 something that makes it really [ __ ]
16:08 good and it could be trained on qar
16:11 which is the reasoning engine that was
16:14 the rumor of why Sam Alman got fired so
16:17 that's happening right around this year
16:19 year as well so you know the rumor is
16:24 that Midsummer is when we'll see GPT 5
16:27 and it's possible
16:30 we get a
16:32 gpt2 that's been optimized a gpt3 that's
16:35 been optimized a four that's been
16:37 optimized and then a five but it's all
16:40 speculation right now
16:42 [Music]
16:54 but hello from Romania what's
16:57 happening will four be come free is my
17:00 question well I think so sure I think as
17:03 they as they keep upping the models the
17:05 previous models will
17:07 probably would probably become free I
17:10 would think and
17:12 [Music]
17:27 cheaper and and not only that because um
17:31 llama 370 billion parameter model that
17:35 meta
17:36 dropped I was listening to the CEO of
17:39 grock the um the chip company not not
17:42 the the large language model in Twitter
17:45 but the the chip
17:47 company he said that the they're hosting
17:50 llama 3 on their grock servers and it's
17:53 10 times cheaper than chat
17:55 gp4 and he says he's seen a lot of
17:59 companies just switching completely from
18:02 open AI chat GPT fors API to Gro using
18:06 the Llama you know 70 billion parameter
18:09 model so it's 10 times cheaper so you
18:13 know I think we're
18:15 [Music]
18:17 getting we're getting close to that
18:19 place where things start
18:21 [Music]
18:23 to start to accelerate
18:27 again then we've got the the worldwide
18:30 uh developers conference from Apple is
18:34 coming up in on June something 10th
18:36 maybe I don't
18:38 know and they've got a May 7th iPad
18:40 event which I think you
18:44 [Music]
18:49 know so I think we'll see something from
18:51 Apple in
18:54 June and then I think what it starts to
18:57 look like I did a cool thing with the
18:58 rabbit today with this
19:00 thing
19:02 um I showed a guy that in the building
19:04 that I work in I showed this to him and
19:06 I showed him what it did and then I I
19:08 turned on the camera and I I pointed at
19:11 him and it said you know it's an old man
19:13 Apple to announce the eye rabbit yeah
19:15 exactly exactly
19:19 um and when he saw that it could
19:22 describe objects he's in the business of
19:25 he's he works for a company that does um
19:29 like physician liability stuff like like
19:32 if if Physicians miss a diagnosis
19:35 they're about going in and teaching them
19:37 here's how you could have asked better
19:39 questions to get to a better diagnosis
19:41 that sort of [ __ ] so he goes I wonder if
19:44 this would work if if we just aim it at
19:46 a like a doctor's you know patient ID
19:51 stuff or not patient ID but patient
19:55 um like a health record like like like a
19:59 a record of the the notes from a
20:01 doctor's visit and he said I have a
20:03 bunch of synthetic data that I generated
20:05 let's just go see and so we held it up
20:07 to this synthetic data and he was just
20:09 asking it questions like what's going on
20:12 with this patient and it just described
20:14 it and then it said you know is this
20:17 patient at risk for having an aeric
20:19 dissection or some some [ __ ] like that
20:22 and it said it said yes and here's
20:25 why um and he was just kind of Gob
20:28 smacked and and you know so right now
20:32 this is sending data up to the cloud but
20:34 I think when Apple comes out with their
20:36 on device
20:38 Ai and and when these models get more
20:41 optimized and you know on our phones we
20:43 have local large language models that
20:45 are gp4
20:47 class but running
20:49 locally um I think a lot of things
20:51 change I think I think lots of things
20:53 change and then the big con um
20:56 commercial models you know do what
20:59 they're going to do where they get they
21:01 become agents and do all sorts of [ __ ]
21:03 for us and have
21:05 reasoning so I think we're in the Calm
21:08 before the storm
21:12 so what do y'all
21:17 think bye it's
21:23 long more people who want it the more
21:26 people will live on in our lives
21:30 yeah I think that's true what's the I
21:32 think they they're like if you at this
21:34 point if you live to 2030 you're going
21:36 to be able to live
21:38 until some longer time than
21:41 [Laughter]
21:43 that there's all the tech Bros are like
21:46 they're going to cure
21:48 aging aging's a disease we can cure it
21:51 we can reverse
21:54 it I'll believe it when I see it but you
21:57 know I wouldn't mind going for a couple
21:58 extra years
21:59 [Music]
22:03 oh man I need an
22:06 agent I hope this helps with reducing
22:08 bias and healthc Care settings yeah that
22:10 would be nice calm before the storm I
22:13 hope not I already had
22:15 to take a break too much going on and
22:18 was overwhelmed yeah I know Suzanne me
22:20 too I'm I'm right there with you I I
22:23 think I think what I'm going to start
22:24 doing you know I I made a commitment to
22:26 do this for a year I think I'm going to
22:28 start taking taking weekends
22:30 off from the
22:33 lives cuz it's a lot for me it's a lot
22:35 for you for for the people that show up
22:37 for the [ __ ] mods that show up night
22:40 after
22:41 [Music]
22:45 night and I you know part of me wants to
22:48 think about
22:51 like like where are we in the world
22:54 where are we in this community where am
22:56 am I in my business where am I with
22:58 these Liv like what do I want to
23:00 [Music]
23:17 do and then there's also you know it's
23:20 funny so like you know I'm thinking like
23:23 this is the Cal before the storm and you
23:25 know there's a lot of people in here
23:27 that have have we've kind of grown up
23:30 together with this AI
23:31 [ __ ]
23:33 and there are still so many people that
23:36 have never tried chat GPT they have no
23:38 idea what's coming they have no idea
23:40 what's here none I was on a call today
23:44 with a major pharmaceutical company like
23:46 one of the biggest in the world talking
23:48 to one of the biggest brands in the
23:49 world within that company like
23:52 staggeringly
23:53 big and I showed him the little Omni
23:56 Channel content Builder we made
24:00 you know with AI using story
24:02 mind and they were [ __ ] go they were
24:04 just
24:08 like that's exciting how do we get
24:14 that you know and I look at it I'm like
24:16 it's okay like it's
24:20 fine we forget we forget what we've
24:23 learned who got nominated for the
24:26 company new AI steering community this
24:29 guy I on
24:30 China there you
24:32 go this is so if you're new here if you
24:37 wonder like why are people showing up
24:39 for this dude who is half ass playing
24:43 guitar and half ass
24:44 talking
24:47 um the philosophy of this channel has
24:52 become Learn out
24:54 Loud cuz I'm
24:56 loud but Learn out Loud like as you're
24:58 learn learning share what you're
25:00 learning and be curious and show up just
25:03 keep showing up that's kind of been if
25:07 if there's a through line to this live
25:10 to this channel it's that I show up and
25:14 a whole bunch of you show
25:16 up and the ones of you that show up and
25:19 kind of Learn out Loud and take what you
25:21 learn and share that things like what
25:24 just happened to ion
25:26 chy happen
25:29 they get nominated for the AI steering
25:31 committee well last week I was
25:33 testifying in front of the Colorado
25:35 senate about AI
25:38 policy I am not a political
25:41 creature maybe every other
25:44 weekend and we don't charge Kyle
25:57 support have Happ 365 days thank you so
26:01 much crazy
26:03 right just crazy cra cra cza you know
26:07 how many times it took me to [ __ ] ask
26:10 chat GPT to get that stupid [ __ ]
26:12 thing
26:14 right was like 10 wasn't a lot but it
26:18 got it almost right it was 365 days of
26:21 Lies it was two e and so I did the
26:25 little edit thing and I highlighted
26:26 lives and I put in quotes lives
26:28 exclamation point and they got it right
26:30 first
26:32 [Music]
26:43 try the conference I attended in Vegas
26:46 took a huge turn towards AI interesting
26:49 what kind of conference was it side
26:52 hustle how did you get it to match your
26:54 shirt Kyle I that just dumb luck or dumb
26:58 shirt
27:00 this this shirt's a little hard to read
27:01 on isn't
27:03 it oh and I don't have my where's my
27:06 other
27:08 glasses I got to go get my my real
27:11 glasses cuz I haven't been looking at
27:13 [Music]
27:15 the um it was for records management
27:18 software called laser fish laser fish
27:22 holy [ __ ] how
27:24 many wow how many [ __ ] it ations has
27:29 laser laser fish gone through they were
27:32 they were micro first they were like
27:34 card catalog fish then they were micro
27:39 fish then they're like we'll get into
27:42 the future we'll call it laser
27:45 fish and now all that shit's just going
27:47 to live in a [ __ ] Vector
27:52 space they're going to call it latent
27:54 fish
27:56 [Music]
28:04 Janine in a bottle you like The Tonight
28:06 Show you need a guest for the weekends
28:08 that's pretty funny that could be
28:10 [Music]
28:23 fun Kyle announces he's taking a break s
28:26 drops gb5
28:32 [Applause]
28:33 [Music]
28:35 [Applause]
28:36 [Music]
28:42 I'm trying to form a commed at work
28:44 so I can top on there AI integration
28:50 stuff for government early on good
28:51 that's great that's awesome yes do that
28:54 for sure check your regulars I learned
28:56 how to make a a sticker
28:59 [Laughter]
29:03 coin hang
29:06 [Music]
29:16 [Music]
29:23 on oh nice
29:31 with with the Gemini
29:34 bear the official flying bear of the AI
29:37 learning lab that's pretty nice what'd
29:40 you do that
29:44 in did you do that in uh ideogram
29:47 ideogram yeah cool

31:32 constructive manner feel free to ask for
31:36 assistance I I I am I am now officially
31:39 ready for smartass
31:41 GPT cuz I'm tired of being scolded by
31:45 large language models for having a sense
31:47 of humor what are your top five AI
31:52 platforms that you use regularly good
31:54 question chat GPT for sure
32:00 I would consider do a separate platform
32:02 really even though it's in chat GPT do
32:05 for images mid
32:06 [Music]
32:11 Journey lately yudo for songs for music
32:16 [Music]
32:25 generation I like Pi a lot but I don't
32:27 use pi
32:34 regularly um
32:40 Claude and then I think the the
32:43 video Avatar tools hey
32:47 Jen and D D- ID nural Fish that's good
32:53 that's solid like it
33:00 Pi almost daily I don't think Pi is
33:02 getting updated anymore I don't feel it
33:05 is that's interesting yeah well they
33:07 lost their they lost their co-founder
33:09 team and a bunch of the staff so it's
33:11 not surprising that Pi has uh stagnated
33:14 a little you know I also I kind of feel
33:17 like even though um Claude 3 is really
33:23 is it Claude 3 or is it clae 2.5
33:26 whatever the latest Claude um
33:29 the fact that it hasn't gone multimodal
33:31 yet is
33:34 weird cuz I feel like there's a lot of
33:37 other things going multimodal and I
33:42 like yeah so I don't know I don't know I
33:46 don't know got no good answers on that
33:50 one about where I am with Claud but
33:52 people seem to really like it you all
33:55 inspired me to add AI Enthusiast to my
33:57 LinkedIn perfect Amanda recruited by a
33:59 startup last
34:02 week you can make
34:05 money
34:07 see Learn out Loud show

34:31 Enthusiast mine says AI
34:33 instigator use chat GPT to help with
34:36 technical AI stuff today and it was
34:38 awful I don't know why it's so
34:41 bad at that I I don't you know P it's
34:50 like the grace the grace that I'm
34:54 giving open AI right now
34:58 is that they're busy working on the next
35:03 thing but they [ __ ] hosed the GPT
35:06 store right they launched gpts how's the
35:08 musical it's going okay my my co-writer
35:11 dude wasn't available this
35:14 weekend and so and I've been busy this
35:16 this week's been really busy at work so
35:18 I haven't worked on it in like I don't
35:20 know six days something like that um but
35:24 it's it's it's good I'm excited about
35:29 it every time he and I have a a writing
35:33 session it gets better and better so I'm
35:37 digging it I'm digging it yeah that's
35:39 the other thing I'm writing a
35:41 musical do we have a group on LinkedIn
35:44 well there's the the uh AI Salon is on
35:46 LinkedIn and sideous Mimi are you on the
35:49 AI Salon I assume you're in there I
35:51 think you're in
35:53 there and we've got a the Irregulars

36:11 [Music]
36:19 um yeah there's not a there's not a
36:21 LinkedIn group for this channel but
36:23 there is for the
36:25 salon looked at my LinkedIn post on how
36:27 to update your profile and highlight
36:29 your AI oh cool looked at my LinkedIn
36:33 post on oh that's great on how to update
36:35 your profile and highlight your AI
36:37 skills nice s SW Jurgens so if you want
36:42 to update your LinkedIn profile Suzanne

37:32 LinkedIn post okay yeah got that
37:39 beautiful super
37:42 Jurgens what would be your second
37:44 favorite chatbot
37:47 [Music]
37:50 Kyle this will make pate
37:54 happy I think the one that I'm that I'm
37:57 most impressed with and and and most
38:00 surprised that I'm surprised by two
38:03 things about it it's it's Google Gemini
38:06 1.5 Pro I'm surprised about two
38:09 things I'm surprised that you still have
38:12 to access it through the [ __ ] Dev
38:15 interface that they haven't put it out
38:17 for the world to play with cuz it's
38:18 really good but maybe it's just too
38:20 expensive for them to run it because
38:22 it's got a million token context
38:25 window and that to me is just
38:29 [Music]
38:32 Bonkers but I'm also surprised that like
38:35 no one else has has done that yet like
38:41 Claude the latest Claude Claude 2.5 is
38:45 200,000 tokens so like Google Gemini Pro
38:49 is one point is is five
38:53 times larger context window it's it's a
38:57 big [ __ ] deal
38:58 no one's talking about it cuz it's
38:59 hidden behind the the dev
39:05 firewall so that one for me is the
39:07 second most
39:08 [Music]
39:16 impressive people love perplexity too I
39:19 don't I just don't do enough research
39:21 stuff can you explain the token context
39:24 window stuff sure absolutely okay I can
39:28 do
39:31 this um let me see okay what did what
39:36 did the M print out okay some award
39:40 submission okay
39:45 so let's say this piece of paper is your
39:48 chat okay and when you start typing with
39:52 chat GPT you're down here right and you
39:54 type [ __ ] in and then it goes up like
39:57 this and it goes up like this and it
39:59 goes up like this think of the Tik Tock
40:02 screen here as your context window and
40:06 so keeps going keeps going and what
40:07 happens is let's say you started out
40:09 talking about a yellow submarine and all
40:12 of this is about a yellow submarine and
40:14 the specs and how deep it can go and
40:17 blah blah blah blah blah and then at
40:19 some point down here you're typing and
40:21 you're like you know what color is the
40:23 submarine and it's like submarines are
40:26 made by the Navy and they're generally
40:28 gray or right and completely forgot we
40:30 were talking about yellow submarines
40:32 that's because when the the top of the
40:35 text goes out of the context window it
40:38 literally forgets it so your active
40:42 conversation is however big that context
40:44 window is chat GPT right now is 4,000
40:50 tokens small that's like 3,000 words so
40:54 you know not long
40:58 um chat GPT turbo is supposed to be
41:03 128,000 or 125,000 tokens but that's not
41:06 in chat GPT right now you can go play
41:08 with that elsewhere but it's not in chat
41:10 GPT if you go to Claude Claude 3 Opus is
41:15 200,000 tokens so that's like 150,000
41:18 words and to put that in
41:21 context um Grapes of Wrath I think it is
41:24 is a 50,000-word novel so the entire
41:28 Grapes of Wrath in a if if if the Tik
41:30 Tock screen here is the entire context
41:34 window if this is 200 thou if it's
41:36 150,000 words and you have a 50,000-word
41:39 novel it'll only take up about that much
41:42 of the context window so you can paste
41:44 in the entire Grapes of Wrath and then
41:47 have it rewrite the entire Grapes of
41:50 Wrath not using the letter
41:55 a and it will it'll [ __ ] it up right but
41:58 in theory if it could write 50,000 words
42:01 right and in a million context
42:04 window right 50,000 words would only
42:07 take up this amount down here in chat
42:09 GPT 50,000 words wouldn't even be
42:12 processable so I hope that helps ah that
42:16 definitely helps make more sense Kyle
42:18 thank you you're
42:20 welcome and and it's and why it's tokens
42:24 versus words because that's technically
42:26 what's happening um and and so the the
42:30 3/4
42:32 of if you have a million tokens you have
42:36 approximately 750,000 words that's just
42:39 kind of how the math works out because
42:40 tokens include punctuation in spaces and
42:43 [ __ ] like that note that the context
42:46 window doesn't mean the model is
42:48 inherently better just has more space
42:54 well yes yes and no Pate the
42:58 it it can do completely different things
43:00 there's other things about uh Gemini 1.5
43:03 Pro the fact that it's truly multimodal
43:07 because it's got a million token context
43:09 window you can upload 11 hours of audio
43:14 and it just understands it it doesn't
43:17 transcribe it and then you're
43:18 interacting with the transcript you can
43:21 upload 11 hours of audio and it just or
43:23 an hour of video and just ask Gemini Pro
43:28 you know what was the girl with the red
43:31 wagon you know doing with her ice cream
43:34 cone and you know dropping it on the
43:35 ground or whatever like it it knows
43:38 that
43:41 um and does nothing good with it yeah
43:44 but you know it's it's it's not bad the
43:47 the Gemini model is not bad it's pretty
43:49 good it does some like Gemini does weird
43:53 [ __ ] like
43:58 I don't know if you knew this but Google
44:00 owns this little site where some people
44:04 stick videos called
44:07 YouTube and in
44:10 theory Gemini should be [ __ ] kickass
44:15 at interacting with YouTube and about a
44:19 third of the time I interact with it and
44:21 ask it about something about YouTube
44:22 it's like I'm I can't look at YouTube
44:25 videos and then sometimes it can
44:28 sometimes it I don't know it's a
44:31 mess are you Gemini splaining to me no
44:34 I'm talking to other people you dumb
44:37 dumb I know you know about
44:42 Gemini but it's it it like
44:45 it it is a competent you know it's like
44:48 a GPT 3.5 class or you know almost four
44:52 class model so it's like a competent
44:54 model but that million token context
44:56 window and the fact that it's multimodal
44:59 make it pretty useful I dig
45:02 it I mean someone just asked what was my
45:04 second favorite large language model and
45:06 I think I think that's it right now I
45:08 don't I don't use it a lot like I use I
45:12 use the tools that I use and just my
45:14 go-to for most things is chat
45:16 GPT
45:19 so I found another bug on the rabbit
45:22 today this [ __ ] sucked so I got to
45:25 work and then we've got some weird
45:28 [ __ ] up wi-fi system at work and I
45:30 couldn't figure out how to how to
45:31 connect this to it so I just Hots
45:33 spotted to my phone and it worked fine
45:37 but then when your Hotpot times out and
45:40 you try to reconnect it it gives you an
45:42 error and you can't you can't reconnect
45:45 to your Hotpot without forgetting the
45:47 Wi-Fi network waiting for it to cycle
45:49 back into the list and then reconnecting
45:51 it so it's like
45:55 ah just make this [ __ ]
46:12 work yeah oh yeah P P's point about
46:15 large context window does not
46:17 necessarily make it better so yeah I
46:20 agree with that but in the Gemini case
46:23 it's pretty good
46:27 um yeah it's pretty janky Ye Old Ye Old
46:30 rabbit is pretty
46:31 janky but it's you know what's funny is
46:34 I don't think I don't think the rabbit
46:37 deserves the hate it's getting I like I
46:39 don't know I just you know what's funny
46:41 is I feel like a lot of technologists
46:44 are [ __ ]
46:46 Lites they're like I like my
46:49 databases the way I programmed them in
46:52 the
46:53 90s you know I don't want them to be
46:56 soft and fuzzy and have we weird logic
46:58 and and be able to do remarkable
47:01 things and I don't what the the the
47:05 thing I saw day today about this it was
47:07 a picture of this and it said this could
47:08 have been an app well of course it could
47:10 have been an
47:12 app but that's not the point of
47:16 it the point is like
47:21 what what could it
47:24 be what might a communication device B
47:28 if we didn't have an overly bloated
47:31 operating system in Android and iOS
47:33 that's got 10,000 apps that you have to
47:35 sift through what could it
47:38 be I don't get why people don't
47:40 celebrate that it's just I don't know
47:42 people are [ __ ]
47:46 bitter they're saying it's running
47:48 Android yeah exactly it might be running
47:51 Android I I don't have any illusions
47:54 that this isn't this is this is a basic
47:57 basic piece of Hardware this is probably
47:58 like a Raspberry Pi or apparently like a
48:02 cheap Android device right they probably
48:03 took an Android the core components of
48:06 an Android phone put it on a custom
48:08 board and jammed it in that thing oh
48:10 forever hook thank you so much that is
48:12 very generous thank you very much oh you
48:14 reached level
48:18 33 I think big things happen at level
48:25 33 aena my favorite guy hello hello

1:00:27 [Laughter]
1:00:30 baby oh man y'all are nuts but thank
1:00:35 You
1:00:37 Ah that's
1:00:39 funny uh what did I do with my glasses
1:00:42 my other glasses my reading glasses
1:00:43 these are my driving glasses I'm driving
1:00:47 see when you get
1:00:48 old Kyle taught me everything I know
1:00:50 about AI well
1:00:53 so funny story about that
1:00:57 so when when when Pate came into the AI
1:01:02 learning lab he's like hey Kyle do you
1:01:05 know anything about tensors and I said
1:01:09 well other than the fact that I designed
1:01:11 the first
1:01:12 TPU not much and he was like oh could
1:01:16 you tell me what a TPU is and I said
1:01:19 well first you should go get a PhD in
1:01:23 math and then when you when you can do
1:01:27 an equation like that then you go then
1:01:29 I'll tell
1:01:30 you and so he went off and he got a PhD
1:01:33 he got it really quick he got in like
1:01:34 two months I think he used AI I think he
1:01:36 cheated he used chat GPT but then he got
1:01:39 a job at Google and they're like hey we
1:01:41 need to optimize these tpus and he's
1:01:43 like hey I got a pH I can do that
1:01:48 equation and then Google is like oh cool
1:01:50 cuz this guy just made these tpus we
1:01:53 don't know how to use them could you
1:01:55 like make it
1:01:56 so we could make AI with them so you're
1:02:01 welcome Pate it's it's just there's a
1:02:03 lot of generosity here a lot of lot of
1:02:05 learning going on I just give and I give
1:02:07 and I
1:02:09 give see people got to listen to you and
1:02:12 then you can get a job anywhere even
1:02:14 Google exactly Pate you're but you're
1:02:17 welcome I'm I'm I'm really glad I taught
1:02:19 you all that all that math mathy stuff
1:02:22 with the tpus and gpus
1:02:24 [Laughter]
1:02:27 p pa actually uh taught me the
1:02:29 difference between a CPU a GPU and a
1:02:33 TPU I mean not like really taught like
1:02:37 my level of teaching which is if I can
1:02:40 understand something enough that I can
1:02:41 sort of get it then I can explain it and
1:02:44 that's that's that's all I need details
1:02:46 in
1:02:48 me I just I live up here in concept land
1:02:57 screw details that's too much
1:03:01 work I actually Marvel at people like I
1:03:05 Marvel at coders I Marvel at people that
1:03:07 can just sit down and you know crank
1:03:09 [ __ ] out like that it absolutely baffles
1:03:12 me how how people can do
1:03:15 that oh my God these glasses are so
1:03:18 cool that's amazing amazing amazing
1:03:22 amazing all right hey and now you can
1:03:24 teach other people that's the cool thing
1:03:25 exactly
1:03:27 taught you or told
1:03:31 you no he taught me he did a PT did it
1:03:34 when I when I first asked about this he
1:03:36 did a cool explanation I said hey that's
1:03:39 cool could you write that up and I think
1:03:40 you initially did it on Discord and then
1:03:42 I think you transferred it over to to uh
1:03:45 to the uh to the tech Guild over in in
1:03:48 the
1:03:49 salon um a that's so cool you guys are
1:03:53 swell you guys are as
1:04:00 well
1:04:12 amazing I live on concept Island I can
1:04:15 see your land from here
1:04:17 exactly I can see concept Island from my
1:04:22 house exactly
1:04:28 but the nice thing about
1:04:30 add is the the the contradiction of
1:04:34 add is the hyper tunnel Focus right like
1:04:38 you're complete you're just up in
1:04:39 concept land for for most of your life
1:04:41 right you just need give me three points
1:04:44 of information in any million point set
1:04:46 and I can Sol I can figure out what the
1:04:48 big picture is so that's where I live
1:04:51 most of my life but then like you you
1:04:53 get you get obsessed with one concept
1:04:56 you just
1:04:58 go just [ __ ] run down the rabbit hole
1:05:01 run down the well drill and drill and
1:05:04 drill and then you and then once you
1:05:06 solve it then you're like I'm good
1:05:08 that's good I'm moving
1:05:11 on so so that combination I I mean I can
1:05:14 get [ __ ] done but I but I have to be
1:05:16 super motivated to do it if I'm not
1:05:19 motivated it is it's scary it's just not
1:05:22 good it's just not
1:05:24 good oh this is my live on Tik Tok thank
1:05:27 you so much details not so
1:05:33 [Music]
1:05:37 much oh I'm about to pull my hair out
1:05:40 over the Bots not coating the way I want
1:05:42 I think that's about to get much better
1:05:44 have Joker you said you played with the
1:05:46 gpt2 thing but you only get like eight
1:05:50 eight prompts a day with that thing
1:05:53 right I'm just curious if that cuz the
1:05:55 the Engineers that I've been seeing
1:05:58 posting about that are saying that the
1:05:59 coding is way
1:06:01 better the oh um since Pat's here he
1:06:04 loves it when I talk speculation chat
1:06:08 TMZ he loves speculation um so this is
1:06:11 completely
1:06:13 unfounded
1:06:15 but the the one thing that I heard about
1:06:18 the gpt2 thing is that it's uh it's it's
1:06:23 the gpt2 model fine tuned using qar
1:06:28 that's what I heard or that it's using
1:06:30 qar or something like that and qar is
1:06:33 the reasoning engine
1:06:35 so if indeed we have a gpt2
1:06:39 class Foundation model performing at GPT
1:06:43 4 quality because it's got better fine
1:06:46 tuning well holy [ __ ] when they do that
1:06:50 same thing to gpt3 and GPT 4 and GPT 5
1:06:54 [Laughter]
1:06:57 it going to get really good really
1:06:59 fast oh source Camp I secured my first
1:07:02 retained client today that's huge
1:07:06 congratulations Source Camp one of the
1:07:08 first Irregulars to really start she
1:07:12 took this [ __ ] on like I'm going to
1:07:14 learn this [ __ ] I'm going to teach
1:07:16 people about this [ __ ]
1:07:19 she basically started an AI agency she
1:07:22 said I'm going to start I'm going to
1:07:24 go that's huge huge
1:07:28 congratulations I'm actively
1:07:30 disassociating from this
1:07:32 [Laughter]
1:07:35 conversation I think it's qar but I
1:07:37 don't think it has anything to do with
1:07:39 gpt2 the base model oh interesting that
1:07:42 that could
1:07:44 be yeah maybe qar maybe qar is what
1:07:47 they're calling gpt2 right but it's
1:07:50 really [ __ ] confusing because they
1:07:52 had gpt2 already and they had and we at
1:07:55 chat G well well we're at the gp4 model
1:07:59 with chat GPT on top of it so by naming
1:08:02 it gpt2 it's really [ __ ]
1:08:06 confusing oh
1:08:09 man yeah it's two is like the second
1:08:12 generation that's
1:08:16 interesting what kind of client Source
1:08:18 Camp I think there's just so many
1:08:20 possibilities and most of them are
1:08:23 plausible but on very different
1:08:25 timelines yeah yeah yeah yep I agree
1:08:27 with
1:08:29 that you know the other thing that I
1:08:31 find I find fascinating right now is
1:08:36 um again it's it's with a lot of the
1:08:38 technologists there's like there's a a
1:08:40 lot of technologists that are like oh
1:08:42 we've plateaued it's
1:08:45 over like AI is never going to get
1:08:48 better I'm
1:08:50 like have you been hanging around for
1:08:54 the past
1:08:56 five
1:08:59 decades well I'm only 37 all right past
1:09:03 three decades [ __ ] just keeps getting
1:09:05 better you you you think AI is going to
1:09:08 stop you think they're going to
1:09:10 stop
1:09:13 no there's there's some crazy meths
1:09:15 going on out there now is it is it
1:09:18 possible that they've hit
1:09:20 a an upper limit with with the
1:09:22 Transformer model possible
1:09:25 but like I saw there was a paper two
1:09:27 days ago about some new weird ass was it
1:09:31 like the copy and paste Transformer or
1:09:33 some [ __ ] like that it does something
1:09:38 different it's supposed to be better so
1:09:42 shit's going to get better they going to
1:09:44 crack this [ __ ] what's been your
1:09:47 favorite moment of the lives over the
1:09:48 past year well
1:09:51 the the the unexpected porch droppings
1:09:55 have been nice
1:09:56 because I have Blandon because of that
1:09:58 and now I have nice whiskey glasses
1:10:00 because of that I have a nice new
1:10:01 keyboard because of that um favorite
1:10:07 moments I I think I think the favorite
1:10:09 moments for me are where just things
1:10:11 completely [ __ ] the bed and I just lose
1:10:13 it right where like I you know the the
1:10:17 the night when
1:10:20 um the night
1:10:23 when um I was trying to to work with
1:10:26 Sydney on on Microsoft co-pilot and then
1:10:30 Siri piped in and I said oh Siri she's
1:10:33 being jealous and
1:10:34 then and then I made fun of of Bing for
1:10:38 making shitty images and then and then
1:10:41 Sydney said I'm sorry if I offended you
1:10:43 this conversation's over and so so I had
1:10:47 these these two Bots it was it was like
1:10:51 a soap opera like you know that was
1:10:53 pretty
1:10:54 funny um I think those kind of nights
1:10:57 where just stupid [ __ ] happens and then
1:11:00 I think the other one is where um you
1:11:03 know Gemini bear just you know stupid
1:11:07 [ __ ] where we try something and AI fails
1:11:11 miserably is the best because it's like
1:11:15 you
1:11:17 know I'm an I'm a tech Optimist by heart
1:11:21 but I can also see reality and like
1:11:24 sometimes these things just
1:11:26 suck
1:11:27 uh oh the I'm an artist monologue oh
1:11:30 thank you very much that well that that
1:11:32 means a lot that that that's memorable
1:11:34 for you I I there's a part of me that's
1:11:39 like you know wants to hide from that
1:11:42 but yeah that yeah that was a good
1:11:45 one like you say say they need mo better
1:11:49 nomenclature yeah they do they
1:11:53 do that damn Blandon is so
1:11:57 good I really love the birth of Frank
1:11:59 too well yeah it was the birth of I
1:12:02 think I think we birthed um what's his
1:12:05 name first Farber we we birthed Farber
1:12:07 first so if you don't know Farber and
1:12:09 Frank let's go let me go see if I can
1:12:11 find them oh the uck yeah exactly it's
1:12:14 it's it's those moments where just you
1:12:17 know Serendipity happens and like things
1:12:21 come together and almost all of those
1:12:24 are someone in the community says
1:12:26 something that I pick up on it and then
1:12:27 someone else adds to it and it it just
1:12:31 spirals oh the cre the cre lady yeah
1:12:34 when I was when I had my head and Kaa
1:12:37 was doing uh realtime stuff and it made
1:12:39 a painting of a lady
1:12:42 with she had breasts and it showed the
1:12:46 breasts and then Tik Tok Banned Me For
1:12:50 Life that was not fun for about five
1:12:54 minutes but they me back
1:12:56 [Laughter]
1:12:59 in
1:13:01 ah um let me go find Farber and Frank
1:13:05 let me flip over
1:13:08 to that account the daily Jank with
1:13:13 Frank and at this point it's like the
1:13:15 monthly Jank with Frank but just doesn't
1:13:18 have the same ring to it
1:13:25 oh man
1:13:33 Al so here's here's
1:13:36 Frank oh Dar so
1:13:41 dar dar is the star of Tik Tock and and
1:13:45 then she came in one night and she goes
1:13:49 battle and I was like I don't know what
1:13:52 that means
1:13:55 and then and then basically what it
1:13:58 means is I try to get my community to
1:14:00 give more gifts than her community and
1:14:04 so she came in and challenged us and we
1:14:08 kicked her ass and it just felt gross um
1:14:13 and it was just awful and then she came
1:14:16 back like a month later and she ambushed
1:14:18 us she let us think we were winning for
1:14:20 a while and then and then she just
1:14:22 destroyed us
1:14:26 oh
1:14:27 Dar yeah that was when I realized what
1:14:30 the what the a AI learning lab is not
1:14:32 you know I I am not willing to be Tik
1:14:36 tok's [ __ ] engagement Farm stupid
1:14:39 [ __ ]
1:14:41 battles like it's just a waste of
1:14:44 everyone's time and money it's awful all
1:14:46 right so this is Frank introducing
1:14:49 Farber let's kick it over to Farber at
1:14:51 the education desk he's my number two
1:14:54 hey how's it going with AI in
1:14:57 education well it appears that uh high
1:15:02 school and higher education are still
1:15:04 using AI
1:15:06 detectors back to you
1:15:09 Frank
1:15:11 [ __ ] let's kick
1:15:14 up yeah so there you have it then I
1:15:19 think we didn't I go after
1:15:22 Elon maybe that was the first one elon's
1:15:25 a piece of
1:15:28 work Elon goes after Sam here let's do
1:15:31 elon's a piece of work so welcome to the
1:15:33 Daily Jank with Frank it's uh March 6
1:15:36 2024 so this Elon mus guy what a piece
1:15:40 of work anyway so here's what's going on
1:15:42 on his x.com they used to call it
1:15:44 Twitter you know whatever x.com Twitter
1:15:46 doesn't matter on that thing he's guy he
1:15:49 says to Sam Alman he says I'll drop the
1:15:52 lawsuit if you change the name of your
1:15:54 company from open AI to closed AI that's
1:15:58 [ __ ] hilarious what a piece of work
1:16:01 anyway that's Elon Musk he's going nuts
1:16:04 this has been the daily Jank hope you
1:16:05 enjoy it so daily Jank with Frank I'm
1:16:07 seeing in the comments the uh the GPT
1:16:10 for good that's definitely one of the
1:16:11 highlights so um Ann Murphy who's in
1:16:15 here hey an um an Murphy who's in here
1:16:19 and I decided with 7 days notice to to
1:16:24 see if we could make a
1:16:27 100 gpts or get the community to make
1:16:30 100
1:16:31 gpts for
1:16:33 nonprofits in 24 hours and we did it the
1:16:37 the week between Christmas and New Year
1:16:39 and and this this community [ __ ]
1:16:41 rallied and showed up and stayed for the
1:16:44 whole 24 hours and made 150 gpts for
1:16:48 nonprofits that was [ __ ]
1:16:50 remarkable Yong Ma we're we're
1:16:52 celebrating 365 days of live
1:16:56 lives this is your life this is your
1:16:58 life on the AI learning
1:17:01 lab um tonight is the Oney year
1:17:03 anniversary of the first night I went
1:17:05 live on this on this here Channel where
1:17:09 I made the commitment to go I'm going to
1:17:11 just do this every night for a year and
1:17:15 see what happens and it turned into this
1:17:17 really cool amazing community that just
1:17:20 keeps showing up and keeps growing and
1:17:23 keeps evolving and quite frankly is
1:17:26 ending up on all of the AI steering
1:17:28 Committees of America's biggest
1:17:31 companies which you know
1:17:34 good you know it's funny
1:17:39 [Music]
1:17:40 that's one of the things I have long
1:17:42 believed my my buddy Dana Dana Reed and
1:17:45 I he's my fishing buddy he's in that
1:17:47 picture up there wait that one right
1:17:51 there right Dana is
1:17:56 that
1:17:58 dude we used to we used to have this
1:18:01 thing
1:18:02 about so he hadit a boat I had a boat we
1:18:06 boats if you're on a long
1:18:09 journey in a
1:18:11 boat and you make a course change that
1:18:16 is imperceptibly
1:18:19 small over a th000 miles you could be a
1:18:23 mile or two off off course or 10 or 100
1:18:27 miles off course so
1:18:29 making small changes over long periods
1:18:33 of
1:18:34 time can be quite profound and so one of
1:18:38 the very teeny tiny goals of this
1:18:42 channel was if we could get people to
1:18:44 come in here try AI learn about it teach
1:18:49 about it like Learn out Loud get other
1:18:51 people inspired about it if we could
1:18:54 bend the course of I even
1:18:57 slightly to the
1:18:59 good I think that it's going to have a
1:19:02 significant and profound impact over
1:19:05 time and if I think about over the past
1:19:08 year all of the people like an Murphy
1:19:10 and and um Kelly camp and Chris and
1:19:14 Vicky and Joker all these people in here
1:19:17 that that just show up and are just
1:19:19 building stuff and building their own
1:19:21 communities and and creating their own
1:19:24 chain in the world using this AI stuff
1:19:29 that's absolutely happened right we
1:19:31 we've absolutely you know bent the
1:19:35 direction of the use of generative AI
1:19:38 toward the good because it's so [ __ ]
1:19:40 easy to fall into the the bleakness and
1:19:43 it's scary and it's going to [ __ ] up
1:19:45 jobs and it's going to [ __ ] up the
1:19:46 economy and it's going
1:19:48 to drain our bank accounts and the
1:19:51 robots are going to get us right oh
1:19:53 thank you so much silver fox
1:20:01 and I think one of the things that we've
1:20:02 discovered in here this has been a big
1:20:04 surprise for me is just the sheer
1:20:06 [ __ ]
1:20:09 joy that people have when they when when
1:20:13 AI reveals to
1:20:15 them
1:20:17 passions that they either thought were
1:20:20 dead or that they didn't even know they
1:20:24 had and they're like oh my God I can I
1:20:26 can do this now I love making pictures I
1:20:29 love making
1:20:31 music and then just go make a thousand
1:20:33 songs and make a musical and and and you
1:20:36 know get in art
1:20:38 shows or go build you know a dozen
1:20:40 automations or a 100
1:20:44 gpts I promoted AI Salon today in an
1:20:47 interview
1:20:48 awesome Daisy Thomas one of my favorite
1:20:51 moments of daisies was when she shared
1:20:54 about her
1:20:56 um when she
1:21:00 made I don't know how to say it alexand
1:21:02 a a Alexander Hamilton AI Alexander
1:21:06 Hamilton when she made that GPT and she
1:21:09 was feeling particularly despondent
1:21:12 about politics and the future of America
1:21:16 and she built a
1:21:19 GPT
1:21:21 modeled on the on the writings of and
1:21:24 about about
1:21:26 Hamilton and then she had a
1:21:29 conversation with this virtual Hamilton
1:21:32 and it restored hope in her and like her
1:21:35 telling that story and writing about it
1:21:37 and sharing about it and how it moved
1:21:39 her to
1:21:41 tears I mean
1:21:48 [ __ ] that kind of shit's
1:21:53 amazing the IM is on Deco here. or a
1:21:57 riot yeah the the new um the new
1:22:00 stations are
1:22:02 crazy they're all thinking about iroot
1:22:05 hearts for Kyle hey an Murphy thank you
1:22:07 so much that's so
1:22:11 sweet what's the AI you use for hot dog
1:22:13 animation anyone know yeah it's um it's
1:22:17 it's Adobe Express um animate with audio
1:22:20 animate from
1:22:22 audio it's it's a dumb tool it's really
1:22:25 hard to find so if you go to express.
1:22:27 adobe.com in the search bar search for
1:22:30 animate and it'll show a popup list and
1:22:33 the first thing should be animate from
1:22:35 audio click on
1:22:39 that hang on I got to fix
1:22:46 my um click on
1:22:49 that and then
1:22:52 um you pick a character and Frank's in
1:22:55 there the hot dog's in there but you
1:22:57 pick a character out of a bunch of
1:22:58 shitty characters then you pick a
1:22:59 background and you just record audio and
1:23:02 it does its thing it makes all the
1:23:03 animation that's how you do it it's
1:23:05 stupid
1:23:07 simple well and that was it like how we
1:23:09 came up with it was someone asked about
1:23:11 it someone said have you seen this
1:23:14 animate from audio I think it might have
1:23:15 been Joker someone someone
1:23:17 did and so I went there and I didn't
1:23:20 know what to do so I just did a stupid
1:23:22 voice and then and then it hit us like
1:23:26 hey wait a minute that could be a that
1:23:27 could be a show that could be a media
1:23:29 property I've been making images of real
1:23:32 life drama happening on Tik Tok and
1:23:33 people are cracking up oh that's good
1:23:35 that's a great use of it yeah my
1:23:38 favorite thing recently has been um uh
1:23:41 sort of documentary storytelling of
1:23:44 people that didn't actually exist and
1:23:46 right now I'm on a kick of my all my
1:23:49 relatives and all my relatives have the
1:23:51 first two initials of KS so there's KS
1:23:54 Dylan K KS K KS gray for Spalding
1:24:07 [Music]
1:24:10 Gray we need OG
1:24:14 Frank oh it was Danielle I believe cool
1:24:18 oh yeah yeah Danielle yeah Danielle did
1:24:20 did one of the first uh Adobe Express
1:24:22 things instead have you seen this yeah
1:24:24 Danielle showed me a couple of things
1:24:26 Danielle's the one that um introduced us
1:24:28 to stations the other night live live on
1:24:30 the live she's like I'm like an hour and
1:24:34 a half into it I'm like I don't know I
1:24:35 was digging into something she goes have
1:24:37 you seen stations and I'm like what are
1:24:39 you talking about and I'm like oh this
1:24:41 is going to be dumb whatever and I go to
1:24:43 Deco here and I see stations and then I
1:24:46 see what it is and I'm like oh my
1:24:49 God [ __ ] lost my
1:24:52 mind those are really cool moment moment
1:24:55 when you when you stumble upon a tool or
1:24:57 or you actually see something
1:25:00 that you know not only is good but and
1:25:03 it listen it's one of the reasons
1:25:06 that I'm giving this device some grace
1:25:10 even though it's not
1:25:11 perfect
1:25:14 is they were willing to
1:25:18 rethink how you
1:25:20 use how you interact with AI or how we
1:25:24 might interact with AI like just the
1:25:26 idea of having a physical
1:25:29 button that that is the AI
1:25:34 button in a in a cool nostalgic Little
1:25:39 ET a sketch Pokemon tamagachi
1:25:43 [ __ ] thing it's just it's just cool
1:25:47 so like those kind of little pleasant
1:25:50 surprises are are one of the things that
1:25:53 keeps me doing this I created a
1:25:55 homeschool course for my
1:25:57 kindergartener themed on Godzilla and we
1:26:00 completed it today oh that's so
1:26:03 cool that's awesome what city did
1:26:06 Godzilla
1:26:07 [Laughter]
1:26:11 Destroy it's all about being that
1:26:14 vulnerable super scary and brave sorry
1:26:16 little cringe no it no it's it's but
1:26:19 it's not cringe and I mean it's
1:26:27 if I take my jokey jokey [ __ ] out of
1:26:33 this this stuff's
1:26:37 scary
1:26:47 and if all this channel does is sort
1:26:52 of make a little bridge between fear and
1:26:56 possibility just even a little
1:26:58 bridge that you might be afraid over
1:27:00 here afraid of what this stuff is afraid
1:27:03 of what it's going to do Lord digital
1:27:05 Gods thank you so much very generous I
1:27:06 appreciate
1:27:11 that if this can be a little bridge to
1:27:14 get someone from Fear to
1:27:19 possibility like I just watch over and
1:27:21 over again that person light up and
1:27:23 that's like there's vulnerability in
1:27:24 that and in order to do that you like
1:27:28 you you at some point have
1:27:34 to connect with people that know more
1:27:37 than you
1:27:39 do to to jump the Gap
1:27:43 right I remember the the my my first big
1:27:46 Epiphany with chat GPT was this Python
1:27:49 program I
1:27:50 wrote and and I remember I remember the
1:27:54 moment I remember the feeling this this
1:27:55 is the the feeling yes this channel
1:27:58 makes it less scary that's great that's
1:27:59 awesome that's part of that's the
1:28:02 hope I remember I asked chat GPT to
1:28:05 write some python code and it wrote
1:28:08 python
1:28:09 code and then I looked at the python
1:28:12 code and I had a visceral like anxiety
1:28:18 like because what I realized was I don't
1:28:22 know how to read python code like it
1:28:24 wrote vote
1:28:25 code and I I literally don't know what
1:28:28 to do with it right it's not like you
1:28:32 know I just you know spin up my
1:28:34 development environment and I haven't
1:28:36 quite gotten around to python yet I
1:28:38 haven't done coding in like 25 or 30
1:28:40 years like I don't know how it works I
1:28:43 don't know how you run it I don't
1:28:45 frankly give a [ __ ] how you run
1:28:48 it but I had that really human Pang of
1:28:52 oh [ __ ] you're Clueless
1:28:55 you know
1:28:59 nothing and then I told chat GPT that
1:29:03 and it didn't care it didn't judge me it
1:29:06 didn't make me feel like [ __ ] it didn't
1:29:09 say well go Google
1:29:12 it it's it's relatively trivial maybe
1:29:14 you should just go Google it have you
1:29:16 read the
1:29:17 manual it just said oh here go do this
1:29:22 and I said no I don't like doing it that
1:29:23 way is there an easier way sh sure
1:29:26 here's an easier
1:29:28 way and so I think you know sometimes
1:29:31 chat GPT can can help be that
1:29:36 bridge but sometimes it just needs to be
1:29:38 someone else to go here go try this oh
1:29:41 it's okay it's not going to bite go over
1:29:43 here show up at an Murphy's Saturday GPT
1:29:46 thing just watch those people they
1:29:49 didn't know how to make these things two
1:29:51 weeks
1:29:52 ago and now they've made a [ __ ]
1:29:54 hundred of
1:29:55 them my favorite this year was when Kyle
1:29:59 claimed I'm an artist oh thank you very
1:30:01 much I've
1:30:03 got those cards right
1:30:14 here I live life out loud and make a
1:30:17 huge difference where I show
1:30:22 up and it builds and builds and
1:30:25 builds all the way
1:30:28 to I am living proof that dreams come
1:30:32 true I am Kyle Shannon I am perfect I am
1:30:36 an
1:30:38 artist yeah that was that was an intense
1:30:40 couple of
1:30:42 nights that was
1:30:46 cool still carry him with
1:30:49 me yeah
1:30:52 yeah that was that that was that was
1:30:55 good I'm glad that made a difference for
1:30:57 people cuz you know that's that scary
1:31:00 vulnerable [ __ ]
1:31:02 [Laughter]
1:31:05 in what is this some kind of fruity
1:31:08 Channel what's he up there fruity
1:31:09 talking about I'm an artist oh is he
1:31:11 cute with his little paints and his
1:31:13 little stupid [ __ ] rabbit
1:31:15 [Laughter]
1:31:19 toy look look at him with his dumb gold
1:31:22 button you can make money
1:31:25 hey that's how that's how I see the
1:31:27 whole world interactive with my my
1:31:30 sensitive vulnerable side there's have
1:31:32 you ever seen there's a Bill Burr
1:31:34 routine [ __ ] Bill Burr routine where
1:31:38 he's like he's like his girlfriend goes
1:31:42 on some trip for a week and it's right
1:31:44 around Halloween and he goes he goes I
1:31:46 know I'm GNA go I'm GNA go buy a
1:31:52 pumpkin and he goes he goes to the
1:31:55 pumpkin store he reaches out for the
1:31:56 pumpkin he said I had to go back to the
1:31:58 pumpkin store five times because every
1:32:01 time I reached out for
1:32:04 it he he used a different word that I
1:32:06 think would get me kicked off here but
1:32:08 he goes every time I reached out I heard
1:32:09 this voice in the back of my head what
1:32:11 are you
1:32:13 [ __ ] he just talks about what it's like
1:32:15 to be a man and try to do one sensitive
1:32:18 thing in your life and just the other
1:32:19 men come at
1:32:22 you it's so true
1:32:28 oh loved Bill and Breaking Bad best best
1:32:31 casting ever yeah he was amazing in
1:32:32 [Laughter]
1:32:38 that oh
1:32:43 man just one night on the live Kyle
1:32:46 shared what many of us were
1:32:52 feeling is there anyone feeling a a
1:32:54 little emotional I am now an now that
1:32:56 you asked that thank
1:32:58 you
1:33:00 um yeah I
1:33:06 am
1:33:09 um no this is I this has been my
1:33:16 biggest the biggest surprise of this
1:33:19 channel
1:33:24 is just is is just what what the what
1:33:27 this group has become like what the what
1:33:29 the people that show up here on a
1:33:31 regular basis has become and they
1:33:33 becoming like it's not just become it's
1:33:35 like not like it's a done thing thank
1:33:38 you Ricky TIY
1:33:42 Fabby it's so it's so inspiring to
1:33:56 you know it's
1:34:05 funny
1:34:08 I'm I think that my entire life my
1:34:11 entire
1:34:14 career professionally and
1:34:17 creatively and like the thing that just
1:34:20 I consistently return to and the thing
1:34:22 that just gives me joy in
1:34:25 life it's what story Vine's based on
1:34:29 it's why I started Urban desires it's
1:34:31 why I started agency.com
1:34:33 it's why I started a theater company
1:34:36 it's why I wrote screenplays
1:34:39 is is kind of this endless pursuit
1:34:52 of my own self ression but also being in
1:34:55 the
1:34:56 presence of
1:34:58 others finding their
1:35:01 voice I don't for me there I there
1:35:04 there's just
1:35:05 nothing there's nothing more important
1:35:07 and more
1:35:10 inspiring than when someone
1:35:13 realizes that they have something to
1:35:16 contribute and that they're and that
1:35:18 they have the [ __ ] guts to do it like
1:35:21 it's it's a miracle because you
1:35:26 to be truly
1:35:27 self-expressed to be
1:35:34 truly in the zone like Michael Jordan in
1:35:37 the
1:35:39 zone you you kind of have to just be
1:35:41 open and
1:35:43 raw in this world all it teaches us is
1:35:46 that if you're open and raw we'll
1:35:48 [ __ ] kill
1:35:49 you we will strike you down
1:35:55 and so what we
1:35:56 learn really early on is shut it down
1:36:00 Becky shut it
1:36:06 down and so what I've seen in in in this
1:36:09 community and on the salon and just just
1:36:12 in general as as people get in it's it's
1:36:15 kind of like what these AI tools do
1:36:21 because because they don't judge and
1:36:24 they do
1:36:26 amplify whatever your ideas are they
1:36:28 make them bigger faster
1:36:31 instant I think it gives people a weird
1:36:35 permission to go oh maybe I do like that
1:36:40 more than I admitted to
1:36:42 myself and then they put it out in the
1:36:45 world and what what what I'm
1:36:47 consistently seeing people
1:36:49 learning is that holy [ __ ] they're
1:36:51 making a difference and they're enjoying
1:36:54 making a
1:36:56 difference like that's a [ __ ] gift to
1:37:00 be in the presence of that on a on a
1:37:02 nightly basis like that I see it in here
1:37:05 on a nightly [ __ ]
1:37:09 basis and like that's this that's the
1:37:13 selfish thing that I get out of
1:37:18 this cuz you know how it is with that
1:37:20 stuff
1:37:22 right two Tuesday you wake up and you're
1:37:25 like I'm going to share everything with
1:37:27 the world and I'm
1:37:29 awesome and by Thursday afternoon you're
1:37:32 like I'm a piece of [ __ ] and everybody
1:37:34 hates me and my stuff sucks and by
1:37:36 Wednesday you're like I think I'll just
1:37:38 not get out of bed
1:37:42 today like there's a lot of nights the
1:37:45 last thing on the [ __ ] planet I want
1:37:47 to do is hit the live button for these
1:37:50 things and then [ __ ] 10 minutes into
1:37:53 it
1:37:55 someone will say something this thing
1:37:57 changed I got a promotion I got someone
1:37:59 asked me about I taught someone how to
1:38:01 do something I made a difference for
1:38:02 someone like it like you can just the
1:38:05 joy the joy of them being in that place
1:38:10 is [ __ ] infectious and so yeah and it
1:38:13 is it is emotional and it is vulnerable
1:38:15 and it
1:38:17 is exciting and it is exhausting
1:38:24 you know
1:38:26 being being on being vulnerable is
1:38:32 exhausting but it's also completely
1:38:35 [ __ ] invigorating so you know and I
1:38:38 think like if I just I just I look back
1:38:41 at my whole career that's been the
1:38:42 through line of it is is do everything I
1:38:45 can to be in the presence of or inspire
1:38:48 people to be more
1:38:51 self-expressed side hustle MIM me it's
1:38:53 really hard for me to sh share and to
1:38:54 connect without second guessing but not
1:38:56 here oh that's awesome
1:38:59 yeah
1:39:01 yeah and you know maybe if this is a
1:39:04 safe space for it a little bit then
1:39:06 maybe out there in the real world in the
1:39:10 non- insane AI learning lab
1:39:12 world you just have the guts to do a
1:39:15 little bit I'll just share a little
1:39:20 bit and and you know what happens
1:39:26 right what happens when you when you
1:39:29 self-express when you when you do true
1:39:31 self-expression like coming from you
1:39:34 know that quiet
1:39:37 place when you do that in the presence
1:39:39 of other
1:39:41 people they want more of it they're like
1:39:45 how that was amazing who are you how do
1:39:48 you what do you
1:39:50 hm can I get some of that
1:39:55 and for me that when when I get that
1:39:57 response I'm like okay I'm going to run
1:39:58 away
1:40:02 now but that's Humanity man that's
1:40:05 Humanity when someone is in touch with
1:40:08 who they are and they find a way to
1:40:10 articulate that and share that with
1:40:11 other
1:40:13 people that's where the [ __ ] magic
1:40:15 is and it's it's one of the things that
1:40:18 I think is the most um counterintuitive
1:40:21 about AI we keep calling these things
1:40:24 Bots
1:40:26 right but they are reflections of the
1:40:30 output of humanity that got dumped onto
1:40:32 the
1:40:33 internet so in a weird way what we're
1:40:35 interacting with are
1:40:38 ghosts of our former selves right
1:40:42 generationally you know into Antiquity
1:40:45 and you know
1:40:55 and
1:40:59 so so I think these these tools are
1:41:08 counterintuitively giving us each
1:41:10 individually and collectively mechanisms
1:41:13 to ReDiscover our passions and share
1:41:16 them with the
1:41:17 world cuz maybe it feels less risky
1:41:20 right maybe if instead of me having to
1:41:22 go to four years of art school and then
1:41:24 slogging for another four years to just
1:41:27 be able to draw a [ __ ]
1:41:30 face now I can just have a vision for oh
1:41:34 I have these ideas of what these faces
1:41:36 should look like and then I can go into
1:41:37 mid journey and bang there they are and
1:41:39 I can share that Vision with the world
1:41:42 that's what Kelly Bosch um shared with
1:41:45 us is that some someone asked
1:41:48 her if you don't know her work uh she's
1:41:50 Kelly Bosch on Tik Tok her her her work
1:41:54 just [ __ ] staggering she keeps
1:41:55 exploring it too but someone asked her
1:41:58 they were like baffled they were like
1:42:00 how do you come up with all these ideas
1:42:02 like how do you come up with all these
1:42:03 prompts and and she said oh it's easy
1:42:06 and I like I could sense in the room
1:42:08 other people going like what what the
1:42:09 [ __ ] do you mean it's easy and what she
1:42:12 said was I've had these ideas in my head
1:42:15 my whole life and I've never been able
1:42:17 to get them
1:42:19 out and AI let her get them out
1:42:24 she's an incredibly accomplished
1:42:26 creative professional right she's got
1:42:29 the capacity to get creative workout but
1:42:32 there was
1:42:33 some particular expression of who she
1:42:36 was she couldn't figure out how to
1:42:39 manifest and then mid Journey came along
1:42:42 and boom she was like oh that's
1:42:46 me and like when she talked about making
1:42:49 these videos she's like I can't wait to
1:42:53 get the next half hour of free time so I
1:42:57 can make
1:43:00 more she's not
1:43:03 judging that it was AI that did it she's
1:43:06 not judging that she's not hand painting
1:43:08 it in Photoshop she's just saying I have
1:43:11 these ideas in my head and this tool
1:43:13 lets me put it in the world so I'm just
1:43:15 putting it in the world and then people
1:43:17 are [ __ ] moved moved by it inspired
1:43:21 by
1:43:22 it and she's a little bit like
1:43:25 uh I'm just kind of doing this on my
1:43:31 couch I remember early in the irregular
1:43:33 steo was so encouraging for my early
1:43:35 images so kind and helpful yeah yeah I
1:43:40 know and I mean Corey Sandler's another
1:43:43 one I mean she like if you're an artist
1:43:45 you're an artist right you you you you
1:43:48 got
1:43:49 Visions right and then you figure out
1:43:51 ways to get them in the world and it
1:43:53 doesn't really matter what the channel
1:43:55 is whether it's a potter's wheel or you
1:43:58 know sautéing vegetables in the kitchen
1:44:00 or making a GPT that that makes wacky
1:44:04 Sun you know wacky glasses
1:44:09 frames that that voice comes out it
1:44:11 comes through so self-expression is it's
1:44:15 all of it it's everything
1:44:20 [Music]
1:44:35 Claire did some awesome artworks and
1:44:37 Joker and so many others in the early
1:44:38 days of this group yeah and I remember
1:44:41 Roger you know Roger
1:44:44 Scott so Roger Scott was one of the
1:44:46 really early Salon guys he lives up in
1:44:49 Boulder and the original AI Salon was
1:44:52 called the AI art artist
1:44:54 salon and Roger was a programmer and I
1:44:57 think Roger took a bit of a an offense
1:45:00 to the fact that we called it the AI
1:45:02 artist Salon he's like [ __ ] you artists
1:45:06 I'm a
1:45:07 coder and so he made his Discord name
1:45:11 Roger not an artist he was like [ __ ]
1:45:16 you that's Roger is a good kudin he he
1:45:19 likes being the the the naysayer the ner
1:45:21 do well um
1:45:25 and then he started [ __ ] around with
1:45:27 mid Journey because he wanted to know he
1:45:29 was asking the mid Journey artists why
1:45:32 did it do this and the mid-journey
1:45:33 artists are like I don't know and he's
1:45:36 like well why can't you get it to do
1:45:37 that to do that and they're like I don't
1:45:39 know and he was like I'm going to solve
1:45:40 this and so he goes in and he takes his
1:45:42 engineering mindset and he goes into mid
1:45:45 journey and he starts attacking
1:45:47 prompting like a software
1:45:49 engineer guess what happened he started
1:45:52 making really [ __ ] beautiful
1:45:54 art and his heart opened up and he
1:45:59 changed his name to Roger becoming an
1:46:01 artist and he actually got two of his
1:46:04 pieces accepted into an AI art show in
1:46:07 Boulder where he actually printed stuff
1:46:09 out and hung it on
1:46:13 walls and it's like he's he's got this
1:46:15 whole
1:46:16 other lane of who he is that he
1:46:21 discovered because of these tools and
1:46:23 because of of being in an environment
1:46:25 where it was okay to
1:46:27 explore I I find that incredibly
1:46:30 incredibly
1:46:33 inspiring come on Kyle we need the I
1:46:35 like turtles video yeah this is this is
1:46:38 where most everything
1:46:45 started oh yeah this is good this is
1:46:48 solid
1:46:54 [Music]
1:47:03 back here live at the waterfront village
1:47:05 with my friend the zombie Jonathan
1:47:07 you're looking good Jonathan just got an
1:47:09 awesome face paint job what do you think
1:47:11 I like turtles all right you're great
1:47:15 zombie good times here at the waterfront
1:47:18 Village open for the next 11 days God it
1:47:20 is the most okay you cannot have a more
1:47:24 comedically perfectly timed friend the
1:47:27 zie Jonathan mic just got an awesome
1:47:31 face paint job what do you think I like
1:47:33 turtles all right you're great
1:47:37 zombie you're great
1:47:40 zombie she's like what do I say what do
1:47:42 I say what do I say
1:48:03 I forgot I forgot how ridiculous the
1:48:06 early days of this channel were I I
1:48:08 think I must have played that video
1:48:10 every day for a [ __ ]
1:48:12 month I'm like I don't have anything to
1:48:14 talk about I know I'll show him my
1:48:16 favorite video
1:48:25 oh that's [ __ ]
1:48:28 hilarious
1:48:30 oh
1:48:35 wo oh man not on here though I'm newer
1:48:39 here I spit when I laugh with Kyle and I
1:48:43 tear up Alice my partner looking at me
1:48:47 with raised eyebrows
1:48:49 [Laughter]
1:48:54 you did but so much fun and it still is
1:48:57 I'm telling you it's a classic it's just
1:48:59 a classic so some some there is
1:49:04 perfection in the world that video is is
1:49:09 comedic
1:49:10 Perfection it just
1:49:13 is it's so amazing too isn't it it's
1:49:16 just like there's one moment that kid is
1:49:18 forever defined as the turtle kid
1:49:22 [Laughter]
1:49:25 oh
1:49:29 man oh so
1:49:36 good Jonathan was the very first image I
1:49:39 created oh that's right that's right the
1:49:41 the the early
1:49:43 zombies I love that it tickles Kyle's
1:49:46 fancy every single time it does I
1:49:48 there's just something about well it's
1:49:51 it's him it's just
1:49:54 his answer is
1:49:57 is it's just in a different
1:50:00 conversation it's like it's like she
1:50:02 asked him a completely different thing
1:50:05 and then just watching her trying to
1:50:06 process it while she throws it back to
1:50:09 the to the anchors
1:50:15 oh oh so
1:50:19 good isn't he almost 30 now yeah they
1:50:22 did a followup interview with him and
1:50:24 it's boring as [ __ ] because he's like a
1:50:26 normal guy he just had this moment right
1:50:29 you can't you can't recreate that moment
1:50:33 oh the Discord is still there all the
1:50:34 media should be there too yeah it's all
1:50:36 still
1:50:37 there oh that that child was completely
1:50:41 genuine yeah he didn't know there was TV
1:50:45 cameras and this and that he probably
1:50:46 just came from like the thing where you
1:50:48 throw the ball in the thing and get the
1:50:50 turtle
1:50:59 it's so good it's so
1:51:03 [Laughter]
1:51:09 good all right and then there were
1:51:11 turtles on a stick and turtle pops
1:51:13 that's right because I was using chat
1:51:15 GPT to like come up with recipes and so
1:51:18 I would just do stupid recipes like yeah
1:51:21 Turtle Pops I was I was coming up with
1:51:23 marketing ideas right for the new the
1:51:26 new food product Turtles on a
1:51:32 stick well here's what I'm hoping what
1:51:35 I'm hoping is that that AI video
1:51:37 archaeology gets good enough I can just
1:51:39 point an AI at the AI learning lab
