25. 6:07young son well clearly you don't have any qualifications to be shopping in Veil ski shops ah did you see the trolls I did
26. 6:16see the trolls there were there were a lot of trolls made Show and Tell was full of trolls Danielle made this lovely
27. 6:23Pearl for uh right before I came on I saw that was there I thought oh that's lovely put that out there um let's see we we just had a
28. 6:35really good Salon we had like 80 people in the salon and uh this guy named Todd Shaman spoke he's got a uh an animation
29. 6:45company out of Boulder called rise r y z is that it yeah and he worked at Pixar for like eight years or
30. 6:5412 years and uh just went deep deep deep into storytelling and narrative and 80 people in the salon was crazy I know it
31. 7:05was great wasn't it Kelly it was just it was just it was like a ton of people were there on time and then people just
32. 7:12kept trickling in I think we had like 49 RSVPs by like you know an hour before the salon and then we had 80 people
33. 7:22there like when do you get more people than RSVP and I guess that's because we've got we've now got we're just shy of a
34. 7:33th000 people in the AI Salon community and then we have about 1,000 people on the Meetup so I had 49 RSVPs for the
35. 7:40Meetup so I assume the rest came from from the salon but it was a really good one Riso I thought hang

39. 8:32Irregulars in the mix um mods this is Ryan I changed my username once again to match my new project that's i' I've done that so many
40. 8:47times just like the The NeverEnding branding um shifts of emails and things like that it it really is the
41. 8:58uh the scourge of being an entrepreneur is just you know you've always got wild email swings and H I've got a Gmail
42. 9:07account I never check I probably should for exactly that reason but you know what are you going to do um Debbie was
43. 9:15such great info loved it yeah it was it was a it was really good it was really good I mean what what I actually liked
44. 9:22about it is he talked he talked for about 45 minutes and about 35 minutes of that was about storytelling it was about storytelling
45. 9:32and how you got to do it right and story told right you know can support anything and has longevity and you can do all
46. 9:40sorts of cool [ __ ] with it and if you're just making stuff you're now competing with everyone can make stuff so what rises above
47. 9:53authenticity narrative things that resonate with people Humanity that's going to be the stuff that rises
48. 10:01above the noise so that was that was pretty pretty flipping slick so all right who was talking his name was Todd Shaman s h AI M
49. 10:13an and uh he works at Google he's a strategist at at Google on the content side he works for some cool lab at
50. 10:23Google where they just get to build prototypes like AI prototypes and then he's the he's the co-founder
51. 10:31and I guess serves an an advisory role to Riso r y zo which is an animation house but they're like learning about Ai
52. 10:42and they're using it for ideation ordered your book today oh awesome thank you Debbie I heard today I well I heard
53. 10:49after the salon tonight I went on LinkedIn and uh Michael lenon who's one of the authors of the book said that our
54. 10:56book hit number one I guess in whatever category we're in I don't know what category we're in but apparently I'm not
55. 11:03only a published author I am a number one author I don't know number one of what it could be like you know number one
56. 11:12books published in the last three days that we're talking about AI I don't know uh yes it was great was it recorded yes it was
57. 11:25recorded so yeah I know isn't that amazing I um I'm excited I'm excited it uh what I'm more excited about with the book actually is
58. 11:40um the group of us that wrote the book are now going to now that we have an artifact now that we have a thing to
59. 11:47point to and this is actually it's it's funny this is kind of what Todd was talking about tonight cuz I I asked him after he was
60. 11:56talking about you know there they're making a short right now an animated short and then they're going to do an a featurelength um animated
61. 12:09film and then he said after the film's made then he thinks that he's going to lean really heavy onto AI to do like all of the brand
62. 12:18extensions right so games and 3D worlds and music and just all the [ __ ] that goes with a film right and he cuz he he was s he was
63. 12:30basically implying or not implying he was basically saying some version of the The Narrative the story is sacred
64. 12:40ground and that should be the the the the the Hallowed Ground of humans like whatever tools they use like the you
65. 12:48know that should be the one with the hand the the fingerprints on on the work and then all this stuff that comes
66. 12:54after it there he was like yeah that's fair game he didn't quite say it like that but that's that's sort of how he
67. 12:58took it I've been away the last few days what book are you talking about I will show you if you go to [Music] Amazon and then search for AI
68. 13:15Futures and an ananthology that's our book so this is a book it's put out by Turkey Hill press and um
69. 13:33published by Cindy [ __ ] so it's it's Lee chasen Cindy [ __ ] Wendy Alford uh chamelia Esser Peter Kaminsky Michael lenon and myself and my
70. 13:45do you have an audio books I don't know we just published it oh no we don't as a matter of fact because I know we're all
71. 13:50recording our chapters I've recorded mine I recorded it on video and so I'll probably I'm thinking I'll probably do a a Tik Tock Series
72. 14:02where I actually read read my my essay so my essay is about 6,000 words and it's called the Great Renaissance
73. 14:09approaches why 2023 is the new 1995 or was the new 1995 um and I just I just put some historical context to oh can't see
74. 14:21me I put some historical context to all this stuff going on with the with AI right now and so my my essay open opens
75. 14:30the book up it's the first essay in the book to kind of Tee It Up and then everybody's kind of talking about this
76. 14:37AI stuff and we we also we set a goal for ourselves to write and publish it in a month we didn't hit that but we did
77. 14:44hit about a month and three weeks which is pretty amazing did you publish it on Amazon yep yes we did so that's kind of fun
78. 15:00I like that I also got access to look at this people if I go to chat J and I type in an at symbol in my little search box there
79. 15:15boom I can now search for recent and pinned gpts which we'll go I'll go play with that a little bit why is it why is
80. 15:27something not coming up at sin let's see here it is at Sin City sipper so this seems like a very very
81. 15:38interesting idea I don't quite know the value of it yet like like a lot of this stuff I again this is going to be 2024 I think
82. 15:48is um these companies are just going to keep launching new AI either features or are entirely new things that we've never seen anything
83. 16:02like it before and we're not going to know how to use this stuff for years how much labor will be AI by year for the next 10 years how
84. 16:15much labor won't be an AI robot in 2034 I don't know it's a really interesting
85. 16:30question I think it's a question that is couched in pessimism and not necessarily that you're P pessimistic but when you say
86. 16:43how many jobs will be lost to AI why do you not phrase it how many jobs will be generated by AI well because we can't imagine that
87. 17:01right how many jobs were lost by electricity how many jobs were lost by the steam engine but how many were
88. 17:10gained a lot it just changes everything changed everything so it's going to do that can you please tell us the significance of 1995 to you
89. 17:21sure um so 1995 for me was just it was it was my
90. 17:38personal entry point into the worldwide web well actually 94 was my entry point um but 95 is when um ship broke loose let's put it that
91. 17:55way um okay so and and this is a this is a bit of what the the chapter of the book is about but I'm happy to happy to talk about
92. 18:06it so when I was in seventh grade in 1977 I walked into my 7eventh grade math class
93. 18:22and every desk had a computer on it Radio Shack trs8 for for the for those nerds in for those old nerds
94. 18:32in the Channel Radio Shack trs8 one on each desk and the first day we went in there we learned the L print command which if you
95. 18:46know basic lprint is you you say l print and then it whatever you put in quotes shows up on screen and then you can do multiple ones
96. 18:57of those so so we learned one command on the first day and So within 20 minutes of learning that command my buddy
97. 19:06Scott had created an animated rocket it was like a Saturn 5 rocket out of asy characters it's like space space space
98. 19:14space space space you know asterisk for the point you know and then we just made an animated rocket within like 20
99. 19:22minutes we had a rocket that like went up the screen and the smoke went like this and and everyone else was was like
100. 19:28trying to just like you know do math and we were like animating a rocket and I was like woo and the more I learned about that
101. 19:40machine the more I realized holy [ __ ] [ __ ] this is like the next printing press like this is like this changes things but what I
102. 19:51also knew was that Steve Jobs and wnc and Bill Gates and the Microsoft Founders were already on the covers of magazines
103. 20:03and I got really bummed out because I knew that those Technologies do not come along very often and if you miss it you miss
104. 20:19it and so so I kind of just went through high school and my college Years assuming that I would never see that just you
105. 20:30know kind of having this sadness of having missed that and then in 1994 I discovered the worldwide web I
106. 20:39didn't discover I mean I stumbled upon it Tim burner Lee created it and I learned at enough HTML to create Urban desires which was an online
107. 20:55magazine and it was an art and culture magazine magazine and that's a sidequest drive by the way that's 45 megabytes of goodness
108. 21:04in a lovely little cartridge um and so I learned enough HTML to put together that magazine and I uploaded these files to some computer in
109. 21:18California with my dialup modem I didn't know what the [ __ ] I was doing and 3 weeks later Urban desires
110. 21:27there was a full page article of it written about in Liberation in Paris 3 weeks after I put it on a computer in California and all of a
111. 21:38sudden it just it [ __ ] smashed me in the face what the internet was and I was like holy [ __ ] the world just changed nobody knows it
112. 21:49yet geography just collapsed time just collapsed right it doesn't take you 3 Days To messenger something to
113. 21:58Paris you send it to California then someone in Paris reads it and they have enough time to understand what it is
114. 22:06take screenshots of it write a newspaper article have it published in a newspaper 3 weeks later holy [ __ ] the world just
115. 22:17changed the other thing that the worldwide web did was it put a simple interface on top of this really complicated thing called the internet
116. 22:25which prior to the web was all command line you had FTP servers and gopher servers and Library systems that you
117. 22:33would log into and then you know type command lines and you would have to type slel and it would list a list of
118. 22:42commands sound familiar well wait a minute isn't that how you do mid Journey yeah exactly mid Journey right now is a
119. 22:50visual tool that you make pictures by typing in command line functions if your immediate thought is isn't that [ __ ] stupid you're correct
120. 23:02you win you can make money with so the the worldwide web was was a simplification layer of a decades old
121. 23:15remarkable technology sitting underneath right the worldwide web made the internet this click click click click click click click chat
122. 23:26GPT did the same thing for machine learning and Ai and it did it in November December so like when I discovered when I published my thing
123. 23:36when I had my big Epiphany in 1995 I actually had it in 1994 and then I started agency.com which was one of
124. 23:44the first digital agencies and so that that took off in '95 and so with um with this AI stuff I was playing around with um image
125. 23:57generation tools stable diffusion and dream booth and then chat GPT came out and I'm like holy [ __ ] this is one of
126. 24:04those I had a big Epiphany and then I started this Channel and I started the AI salon and I started a m a newsletter
127. 24:13and I started thinking about how I'm going to completely reinvent my company Story vine and here we are a year later
128. 24:20and you know so anyway that's it that's the significance is we are at the very beginning an incredibly rare like to be on the
129. 24:31planet to be on the planet and be aware enough of AI to sit with some old dude on Tik tock on a Tuesday night at
130. 24:43[ __ ] what time is it it's 11:30 in New York City right now so it's 8:30 in California 11:30 to be aware enough to sit in here
131. 24:54and think I I think I got to pay attention to this you are in incred like it is an incredibly thin slice of
132. 25:05History to be at the beginning of one of these movements why I go live every night I know I say it's because of you it's not it is it's
133. 25:23um I got to keep my head in the game I got to keep my head in the game but why Kyle you're not going to miss
134. 25:33anything if you're out of it for a week yeah you will and it's going to accelerate so fast that it's going to be hard we are
135. 25:40living in Wild times we're living in very wild times cam K because I'll tell you here's the other thing about the the
136. 25:46comparison to 95 and 2023 is the worldwide web to get to 100 million users took six years chat gbt took six
137. 26:03weeks and the core functionality of the worldwide web was the hyperlink that was
138. 26:19it they added other [ __ ] to it you know like you can call database [ __ ] and you know pick pictures and
139. 26:28sizes and then they did CSS and then they did mobile [ __ ] but the core breakthrough was this the core breakthrough of machine
140. 26:42learning and AI was this thing called the Transformer that no one could see and a lot of people didn't really think was that big a
141. 26:51deal until it was and then all of the tools that we're playing all the generative AI tools that we're playing
142. 26:57with with right now for the most part are leveraging the Transformer this one piece of technology that Google invented in
143. 27:062017 and so they've spent the last five six years capturing data jamming it into machine learning models through the Transformer
144. 27:20architecture and open AI did gpt1 gpt2 gpt2 was I think 28 or 20 2018 gpt3 was 2020 gpt3 was out for 2 years you could
145. 27:35do chat GPT [ __ ] for two years before chat GPT came out nobody gave a [ __ ] chat gbt took all the buttons away and just
146. 27:47made it a search box here's a box just like Google type [ __ ] in there what do you think about neuralink
147. 27:56um I heard that one of the first human got their implant today or yesterday um you know what's funny about neurolink I heard about
148. 28:14neurolink probably close to a year before chat GPT came out and I heard Elon Musk talking about it and I heard him talking
149. 28:25about spe speed of interface right speed of just how incredibly unefficient it is to tap on the screen like you know like
150. 28:37the light has to go into your eyes get processed by your brain your brain has to go I'm going to push a button and
151. 28:43then it comes down your arm and it moves muscles in your finger and your arm and then you go toward the phone and you do
152. 28:49that and then software does what it does it's like it's just this massively long thing and if you put in your brain it's
153. 28:59instant and before I got my head around AI I'm like so what like so an app doesn't launch you know for for like 500
154. 29:12milliseconds longer does that really [ __ ] matter and now I'm looking at generative Ai and I'm going well [ __ ] yes it
155. 29:26matters cuz they already there's there's a there's a disabled a uh paraplegic in Italy spinal injury from a motorcycle AC
156. 29:36accident couldn't walk for 12 years they did an fmri of his brain and told him to think about moving his legs
157. 29:45and they trained one of these models on the data from his brain here's where he's not thinking about moving his legs
158. 29:53here's where he is thinking about moving his legs and then they stuck electrodes in his back and a Bluetooth
159. 29:59connector just like your little airpod that that technology from his brain down to his legs and now he's walking well that latency the the
160. 30:12latency of Bluetooth is too much right so so if you could get that latency even tighter he would walk better so all of a
161. 30:22sudden I start to see you know instant translation instant Babel Fish right stick fish in your ear listen to all the
162. 30:28languages we've got that right now but imagine if there were no latency if it were
163. 30:45instant I want to have a conversation where I talk in English and then you respond in some random language and keep
164. 30:51changing the languages every time I say something

166. 31:23on it's more impressive when it works the first time it's going to be so cool when it loads this used to be when the in the early
167. 31:32days of the worldwide web you're like let me show you this cool website and then it wouldn't load you're like it's
168. 31:37going to be so cool it's like loading a line at a time that's what this feels like I'm going to speak a sentence in
169. 31:45English and then I want you to respond in some random language and I want you to keep changing the languages every time I
170. 31:54talk sure I can do that go ahead with your sentence in English Abracadabra as I speak I
171. 32:14create I live life out loud and make a huge difference where I show up G be up
172. 32:32my time and focus means it
173. 32:47matters Hindi so like the latency there is painful right but not for nothing I can essentially go to any country with
174. 33:01with chat GPT on my phone or Pi or with any one of these things you know coming up and I've got Babel Fish well what if that were
175. 33:15instant that's what he's talking about and you know listen the thing about neurolink is I think we're
176. 33:22we're there there was one of the one of the questions at Davos one of the one of the moderators on the
177. 33:31I I don't know if it was the Sam Alman panel it might have been another panel one of the moderators said how do we deal with the problem of
178. 33:42AI and the guy on the stage was like why is it a problem like why are you framing it like that so I think when when people hear
179. 33:55about neuralink they go to oh the you know they're going to control us they go to the dystopian weird ass [ __ ]
180. 34:04future well what about people with spinal cord injuries and brain injuries and you know severe dysfunction and
181. 34:15severe um conditions that a technology like that can fix that's where it's going to start people with MLS that
182. 34:30can't their brains are active and they're [ __ ] trapped in their bodies they're going to be able to talk and with something like
183. 34:45neurolink so like I guess it's just I guess it's just human nature and I guess it's it's a bit of a reflection of the of the
184. 34:58the political climate we've we've um let ourselves be manipulated into in the past decade we we've chosen just like we
185. 35:07chose to give all our data away to Facebook and Google we've chosen to let ourselves be polarized like a bunch of [ __ ]
186. 35:18baboons and so I suppose it makes sense that when something scary comes along that's technological you go oh it's evil it's going to kill us
187. 35:27how do we deal with the problem of AI well that's not what this Channel's about this Channel's about AI is coming
188. 35:37whether you demonize it or not in fact AI is here I just spoke Russian and Hindi and Spanish AI is
189. 35:53here so you can sit on the [ __ ] sidelines and piss and moan and what are we going to do about the problem of AI
190. 36:01or you can go what do these tools do what are they good at what are they bad at where are the boundaries if this got
191. 36:07better what would be possible holy [ __ ] and and what people in in this community in the AI salon and in this
192. 36:18channel that show up here a lot what they're discovering is that as you dig deeper into this thing like they like
193. 36:27profound things open up for you like new avenues of self-expression that people didn't think would ever be possible in their life thank you
194. 36:43Empower are opening up for them people are Reinventing themselves daily on this channel and on the AI salon
195. 36:57there's occasionally someone that's like oh it's stealing data that's bad okay that is bad we should talk about
196. 37:04that but like 95% of the conversations are in here are like I didn't ever think I could do this how is this even possible oh my God we're so
197. 37:15lucky the problem of AI the problem of your shitty future casting Cindy [ __ ] who I just wrote the
198. 37:30book with the AI Futures book she's got two businesses one's called future casting and one's called threat
199. 37:36casting all anyone's doing right now with AI is threat casting they going to kill us the AI is going to kill
200. 37:45us why are you using the AI those robots are bad you know they lie they're stealing from the artists why do the Skeptics always make
201. 37:58that face and have that voice I don't know I'm just an actor I can mimic that I'm like hey I'm really into a

210. 39:30coming from though it can be frustrating when people are resistant to change or don't fully understand something like AI

230. 43:00know what's on sale at your local Gap she's connected to the internet so you can ask her current stuff she can tell you live music that's
231. 43:13playing or what sports are playing and you can just have a fullon conversation with her and they've got it programmed in such a way
232. 43:23that it's not like chat GPT where just answers you it's it's written in a kind of Socratic reasoning back and forth well
233. 43:33let me ask you some questions which if you're trying to use it on the web and you're trying to use it like chat GPT
234. 43:39it's frustrating as [ __ ] but if you're having a conversation with it it feels really natural and if you haven't had that
235. 43:49experience the first time I had that experience with pi I thought this is five or six Sci-Fi movies that I saw like this is as
236. 44:05good as stuff I saw when I was a kid where I'm like well I'll never get to see that for real 2001 A Space
237. 44:13Odyssey I'm sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do that we're there they can't take actions yet for another 3 months or

525. 1:36:44its own software to make it easier to answer the problem help me explore ideas it's got lots of ideas it's visually Rich it's
526. 1:36:54interactable now none of this was coded up it was all generated by Gemini Gemini uses a series of reasoning steps going
527. 1:37:02from broad decisions to so across the top here are are these decisions that it's making where it's going should I
528. 1:37:11just answer in text no you should answer in a more complicated way oh what should you know what should the what's the data
529. 1:37:17layer what's the interface layer what's the and it's it does so so it's it's essentially reasoning about the level of
530. 1:37:26sophistication the interface should be and then it's coding it and then it's displaying it then it's populating it
531. 1:37:32with data and making it fully functional to increasingly higher resolution of reasoning finally getting
532. 1:37:39to code and data first Gemini considers does it even need an UI is a text prompt best okay this is a complex request that
533. 1:37:49needs lots of information to be presented in an organized way Gemini then tries to understand if it knows enough to help there is a lot of
534. 1:37:57ambiguity I didn't say what my daughter's interests are or what kind of a party I wanted so it had asked a
535. 1:38:03clarifying question when I said we're thinking about an outdoor party and my daughter loves animals Gemini reasoned
536. 1:38:09it had enough information to proceed but it made a note that there was still ambiguity about what kind of animals and
537. 1:38:15this is important and what kind of outdoor party next is a critical step Gemini right the product requirement
538. 1:38:22document or PRD it contains the plan Gemini writes the product requirement document this is all in the context of answering someone's
539. 1:38:34prompt like this is weeks of traditional software development happening as an answer as a as a transparent series of steps now
