17. 3:32coat are you a scientist do you have qualifications no no that's not what we do here we have fun we talk about AI but not like the
18. 3:44wonky AI the AI like it can do that cool [ __ ] too what are we going to do with our lives run it's more like that t-shir shirt
19. 3:55Story please I don't know it's just a cool pattern of a sliver moon in waves over the ocean I suppose um I don't know if it's a fancy
20. 4:08brand or not but it's nice it feels nice I've had it for a while and uh what else do we do here u a little bit about my background I'm an
21. 4:17entrepreneur I'm the co-founder and CEO of a uh video technology company called storyvine and I've been rather pathologically obsessed
22. 4:29about this AI stuff for about 2 years now um and uh and so much so that I started this year Channel I started a thing
23. 4:39called the AI Salon I was also an entrepreneur back in the early days of the worldwide web I was co-founder of a
24. 4:46company called agency.com which is one of the first digital agencies and we you know we were there for the way before it was the dot bubble
25. 4:58they were they were like 200 people in New York City and like you know 300 people in San Francisco and you know
26. 5:04handful of people in other cities that were like holy [ __ ] this stuff's cool and uh and it took the rest of the world a
27. 5:12while to figure it out and uh we're in the same place with this AI stuff right now although it's significantly more
28. 5:20profound and it's moving a lot faster so uh so it's wild wild wild times so the way this works I'll walk you through
29. 5:27some some guidance if you would do me a favor share the live so we can get the love out there get more people in let
30. 5:33Tik Tok know like just pretend like you enjoy it and then after an hour or so when I bludgeon you to death with with
31. 5:40stupid [ __ ] you'll just go I guess I like it and it's like one of those fake it till you make it things so

33. 5:55to do okay if you are new to generative AI if you're just scrolling in Tik Tock and you're like is that Rosie oon let me

44. 7:54okay oh Siri oh she's so cute okay all right these other things if you have played with chat gbt and you
45. 8:07haven't played with these other things um Claude in particular is worth spending some time on Bing and Bard are
46. 8:15both okay but they're both connected to the internet um and they're well I don't know if Bing's going to get better Bing's got a
47. 8:24lot of weird Microsoft nness to it right now so it's it's it's pretty crappy but there there's good stuff there Bard's about to get
48. 8:32really better whenever they release Gemini claude's really really good um what else is good to look at here um Pi
49. 8:40is really interesting although chat gpt's official app just added conversational AI to its app so now pi
50. 8:50and chat GPT the official app you can just put it into conversation mode you don't need to hit submit you don't need
51. 8:56to type you just talk to it it listens and response um in fact I can just show a little demo oh I can show show a demo of
52. 9:06both of these so we'll do chat gbt first can you help me understand how internal combustion engines
53. 9:23work absolutely here's a conc explanation internal combustion engines are engines that generate power by
54. 9:34burning fuel within the engine itself rather than external so I just saw a thing so Pi was based on chat GPT no it
55. 9:41wasn't so Pi let me let me show you Pi really quick so here's pi and then in the bottom well you can't see it there but put it in talkie
56. 9:52mode what is going on here hang on it looks like Pi just freaked out hold poorly behaving robots
57. 10:08Okay can you tell me how an internal combustion engine [Music] works sure thing here's a basic rundown
58. 10:21air and fuel are drawn into the engine cylinders the mixture is compressed by the engine's piston yeah I don't care
59. 10:29okay so um Pi is created by a company called inflection they raised $1.3 billion dollar in funding um and
60. 10:45billion and they are setting out to make the world's most powerful personal assistant that company right there um
61. 10:56and it's a it's a wholly distinct company from open AI um chat GPT was kind of the first of these but there's
62. 11:03there's a lot of them so this is all of these companies are using technology that was invented in 2017 by Google called the
63. 11:10Transformer and so a lot of these things have been in development for a lot of years but chat GPT accelerated the
64. 11:16release of lots and lots and lots of toys or tools or toys that are like tools or tools that are like toys um and
65. 11:24that's what we're playing with and that's what we play with in here um this little bad feel free to screenshot this this little batch are
66. 11:32what I think are the image generation tools that are are worth your time right now there there's probably another five
67. 11:40Beyond this but just for now just get started if you go to bing.com create or I saw silverfox you got access to dolly3
68. 11:50inside chat GPT I'll show you that in a second it's remarkable Dolly 3 is really really amazing um and and generating
69. 11:58images inside of a a chat within chat gbt is just it's a completely different experience than going to something like mid Journey or stable
70. 12:08diffusion um Kyle when will I be in DC DC next uh I don't know I get to the East Coast a fair amount but I haven't
71. 12:15been to DC in a while so um I don't know probably probably sometime in 2024 um let's see mid journey is the one
72. 12:27that's sort of the highest quality art ideogram um was the little darling for a while cuz it did text but then Dolly 3
73. 12:35came out and then Firefly from Adobe Adobe just announced a whole pile of new AI tools they're going all in on AI um
74. 12:45and they're also starting to release some of their artist attribution tools and things like that and they just
75. 12:50announced Firefly 2.0 which is apparently pretty good I haven't even had time to play with it yet so lots going on on the image front
76. 12:59this is some interesting video apps so Runway ml will make videos out of nothing or out of a picture heyen will
77. 13:07translate your video of you talking into you talking in other languages it is [ __ ] remarkable um block a Labs you describe
78. 13:17a scene and it'll make you a 3D scene um did Will synthesize a voice and make an animated talkie picture of it um so those are pretty cool
79. 13:30these two things futurepedia doio and there's an AI for that are like big old list of tools and then these three
80. 13:37people Ethan mullik David shap Shapiro and Paul rater from the marketing AI Institute are worth uh following um
81. 13:45Ethan mik's A Wharton business school Professor David Shapiro is working on AGI he is wicked smart and building a
82. 13:52really cool open source project to make um AI smarter than people um and and he's he's you know really understands
83. 14:01this stuff in a deep deep way so if you want to feel if you if you want to feel intellectually inferior go watch David
84. 14:08Shapiro actually all three of these guys are pretty [ __ ] smart um and then the other thing this thing in the middle here the AI Salon
85. 14:19the salon. is the link tree um this is a community I created started last December we we do meetings every other
86. 14:27week and we have an online Discord Community where we can hang out and ask questions and make pictures and stuff
87. 14:33like that a lot of times the the folks that hang out and hear a lot called the Irregulars are in there making pitches
88. 14:40and making jokes and all that sort of stuff which speech to text wait wait speech text AI do you recommend um I
89. 14:51assume you mean text to speech and I assume you also mean voice synthesis like which one if you want to take your
90. 14:59voice and make a model of it so you can just write text and then you start talking um 11 Labs right now is is the
91. 15:07one um for two reasons one their models better like like apple released uh a thing called personal voice in iOS 17
92. 15:18which I thought was going to be amazing cuz it's apple and it took like 20 minutes to train it you had to answer
93. 15:24150 questions it's just [ __ ] awful and then it was not good it was not good it was not good 11 Labs is pretty good not great
94. 15:37what all of them Miss right now is any kind of Dynamics with you know intonation and Dynamics with you know
95. 15:46emotional regulation basically but there are a lot of tools that have them that you can kind of manually set so we're
96. 15:56not going to be that long till those are going to get good but right now now it's 11 Labs um and then this tinyurl.com
97. 16:03kyes AI tools um one of the Irregulars here named Theon has put that together that's a Google sheet that's got every
98. 16:12time I mention some tool or some person on the live he's been capturing it in that spreadsheet so super generous of
99. 16:19him to share that um and that's part of the deal here is as you learn stuff if you start hanging out here a lot um you
100. 16:26know great I would love that um share what you're learning share what you know share what's going on at work share you
101. 16:33know as you're learning this stuff share it with people even if they think you're weird because who gives a [ __ ] who gives
102. 16:39a [ __ ] they think you're weird you know it's going to happen a year from now they're come back hey could you teach me
103. 16:44that AI stuff you were talking about me me me so so think of the AI learning lab as as as your anonymous group for for
104. 16:53being curious and excited about AI uh can my boss tell if I use chat gbt in my writing if you have to ask that question
105. 17:02I guarantee you he can't no one can tell in fact Ethan mullik the the Wharton business school Professor um even the AI
106. 17:10detectors don't work um in fact they don't work so bad that open AI the people behind chat BT pulled theirs off
107. 17:19the market because it just didn't work um they also did a thing where they got business professors to try to uh
108. 17:27guess which writing was AI generated and which was human generated guess what they failed miserably so no your boss
109. 17:35won't be able to tell now if you're shitty at prompting and you just create driil and you don't proofread it and
110. 17:45it's got [ __ ] in it then your boss will probably just think you're an idiot and probably won't accuse you of
111. 17:52using chat gbt but might accuse you of being a dumb Dum so so so learn these tools well enough to understand where
112. 18:01the boundaries are what are they good at what are they bad at and and don't lose the most important thing your [ __ ]
113. 18:12brain use your big boy or girl brain no I meant text to voice to listen when we can read lengthy PDFs
114. 18:26oh um [Music] I don't know I there are probably a lot of tools out
115. 18:41there just just put it into voice mode I I I I would think that just accessibility if you have an iPhone just your accessibility tools
116. 18:52just pop it in and like cuz I know um OS X on the Mac can read things um I I honestly don't know that's a that's a good question zindo good

123. 20:12don't mind that I talk about you as as if you're not here Jim um but Jim is um he's it's a small operation and he's
124. 20:23been using AI to like punch way above his weight like doing all sorts of really cool content marketing things and
125. 20:31social media things and things that he wouldn't have done otherwise like he he wouldn't have spent the money to hire an
126. 20:37agency to do that and all of a sudden he's he's operating like a five or six or 10man team just because of these
127. 20:44tools so really interesting guy um so good to see you thanks thanks for coming nanoel electric device performs
128. 20:51real-time AI classification without relying on the cloud oh interesting yeah so so that's that's um I mean Apple
129. 21:00Apple's last two announcements it's they've made it pretty clear that they're they're building Hardware
130. 21:05designed to be able to run these large language models locally on device so I think we're going to see more and more
131. 21:11of that it's still going to take a [ __ ] ton to train them but if you can run these things if they can get them
132. 21:16efficient and they can run these things primarily locally with an occasional call to the web that's pretty big deal pretty big
133. 21:25deal and the other thing is you know the AI might just solve the the uh the energy situation and help us get the
134. 21:33fusion faster or who knows what else um so yeah very cool now amazing um what's your LinkedIn my LinkedIn is I think it's just Kyle

145. 23:52algebra for algorithms I don't I don't have any idea so so just a little bit about this channel my background I'm not
146. 23:59a mathematician I'm not an engineer so I know generally how this stuff works I don't know the math of it at all I have a degree in acting
147. 24:10um my my passion for technology is at the inflection point where it shifts from the domain of the scientist to to
148. 24:20the domain of the rest of us so with the worldwide web it took the internet which was primarily command line and research
149. 24:28and it brought it to the masses by making it point and click so that inflection point was when I got involved
150. 24:34with that um with this AI stuff similar sort of deal where it's been around for decades November 30th 2022 chat GPT
151. 24:43launches and that for me is the inflection point that says Ah these tools are amazing but now the rest of us can play with it right
152. 24:55um you know there were some things a few years you know a year or two before that that were that were that were hints of
153. 25:01it coming but chat gbt really is the thing that that comes from thereafter so I don't I don't know the difference uh
154. 25:10between those two things and I would I would refer you to chat GPT which can probably answer that it's like that uh
155. 25:18let me Google that for you let me GPT that for you so I don't want to do that because there's enough mansplaining
156. 25:25going on in this channel as it is my degree is in religion and WooHoo for Liberal Arts Majors exactly we are in what I call revenge of
157. 25:37the liberal arts major right now where um if you specialized in something um that specialization is getting democratized for every
158. 25:49specialization so more and more people are going to be able to do more and more things that they were not trained for
159. 25:56and it's pissing off the special specialist but the horizontal thinkers people that can think across vertical
160. 26:05expertise they're going to have some major skill um they're going they're going to there's going to be major demand for that those kind of
161. 26:13thinkers um so people like liberal arts Majors yay you know the ones that all of the Specialists used to make fun of
162. 26:28[Laughter] yeah good luck making any money with that acting degree buddy why didn't I get the new features in chat GPT yet I have
163. 26:41Pro did you go turn them on so let me go show you something here Justin if you paid your 20 bucks in the old chat

166. 27:16your 20 bucks you'll have your little plus sign and then you should have some things down here actually some things
167. 27:24are missing for me oh no they're not okay um um so what you have to do is go to your settings and then within settings
168. 27:38there's a thing called beta features go there and make sure they're turned on so if you're not say seeing browse with
169. 27:46Bing plugins and Advanced Data analysis Barbara art school survivor that's awesome that's great um then you'll see
170. 27:58these things here now Dolly 3 is um that even though it's in beta it doesn't seem to be showing up in people's beta list
171. 28:08like these other things do um but they're just kind of rolling that out a number of people people in here that I
172. 28:14know have gotten it in the past two days I got it like five days ago so the dolly 3 the image Generation stuff is is really brand
173. 28:23new um but but let me show you while while I'm in here why don't I show you some some of the advanced stuff that's that's super
174. 28:30cool so I'm just going to go with the default model right here and there's a new little icon here and it allows you to upload images
175. 28:39and then it can interpret images so all right that's a good one so this was I did a workshop Wednesday night um
176. 28:56was the second Workshop of a thing thing called the AI Launchpad and so this was a schedule that I wrote on the Whiteboard I'm like
177. 29:02how long was the workshop come on come on you so it
178. 29:17uploads this thing I don't have anywhere how long the workshop was but I do have time ranges for the little
179. 29:24sections and let's see the workshop was from 5: to 7:00 so it was 2 hours long going to say what was it
180. 29:45about looks like I finally got image upload I did I got it maybe two days ago and it's also in the the chat GPT
181. 29:55app now is fairly fully function fun it doesn't have plugins in it but it's and it doesn't have data analysis which makes sense for for an
182. 30:03app um but it's got do it's got browse with Bing it's got image upload and it's got conversation mode so anyway so so look this thing
183. 30:14just analyzed what was on the Whiteboard um Let me throw up another one that that I think is is another cool
184. 30:21example um is this it yeah so so this was a strategy session I did with my co-founder and you know we wrote all
185. 30:29this crap down on Post-it notes and then this just been sitting up on my my wall for like a year or two I
186. 30:37don't know we did this ages ago and um I never sort of got around a typing it in right so I can go what was going on here
187. 30:55oops mid Journey has some amazing new features coming out by the way when replicant are are there have they
188. 31:01announced them are there any previews are there any like um like a video or examples they talking about it on the
189. 31:10Twitter I mean honest to God mid Journey better come out with something cuz dolly dolly Came Out Swinging hard and then
190. 31:19Firefly 2 is supposed to be pretty amazing um and and the fact that mid journey is still in [ __ ] Discord the
191. 31:26fact that they don't have a website or an app right now I think is is really stupid um they their CEOs a bit of a
192. 31:35crypto bro we're oh we're testing now David announced some hints in office hours that's awesome replicant okay good
193. 31:43so so are so you it sounds like you work there so if you work there it like I'm telling you the fact that chpt inside of
194. 31:53or uh Dolly 3 inside of chat GPT the fact that you don't need to learn all of the commands and things like that I
195. 32:00think it's going to be a big big uh challenge to Mid Journey um to Mid Journey scaling um so that's really good
196. 32:10to hear I'm excit I'm excited to hear it because I still think mid journey is the best in terms of quality but there's a
197. 32:16convenience thing and the fact that um that dolly3 does text so well and can kind of do things within the context of
198. 32:25a conversation is a big deal anyway way so so this image says it says I said what was going on here was all I asked that the image
199. 32:34you've shared is a wall of sticky notes grouped under different headers it appears to be a brainstorming or
200. 32:38planning session commonly used in business or project management here's a breakdown of the headers goals um there's also mention of a 1 to
201. 32:47twoyear exit implying a strategy or goal to potentially sell or transition unjustified assumptions choices so I can even say um
202. 32:59can you give me a bulleted list of the Post-it notes under the unjustified assumptions section I'm testing the Alpha app now as
203. 33:13well replicate you were in here like two months ago as I recall right and I think because I think I was bitching about
204. 33:20Discord back then and you said the the the uh an app was under the work so the fact that you're Alpha Testing it right
205. 33:26now great if you want an outside Alpha tester let me know because I'm if if you know anything about this channel you

213. 34:27this image Vision stuff is they're they're they're architecting software or websites like in flowcharts on a
214. 34:35whiteboard and then just telling chat GPT to read the flowchart and code the code the components of the app or code
215. 34:42the website and it just does it so that's pretty wild so now let's flip over let me go to a new um come on what's going on there we go
216. 34:56let me go to a new chat and I'm going to go to Dolly 3 so let's go look at what this thing does so so I'm still in chat gbt oh wait another
217. 35:07thing from replicant mid Journey does have a user based testers for web it's for users that have created 10,000 Images
218. 35:14Oh I probably am under that I'm probably about at that with stable diffusion but I'm probably about yeah I'm probably
219. 35:23under that so all right whatever I uh you know it's not it's not what I do full-time so I get it um okay so
220. 35:35we're in chat GPT so one of the things that that excites me about having image generation within the context of chat is
221. 35:44you don't have to start out necessarily thinking about oh I want to make an image right you could just say I've got a dog grooming business
222. 35:55that focuses on on chubby black and white dogs only and I'd like you to help me come up with a name for it

233. 38:09neighborhood there was a chubby black and white dog named Parker okay so so we're gonna whatever that story is it's
234. 38:18awesome okay that's great but change the dog's name to Champ and then make me four social media images that have the name of the company the
235. 38:32tagline and a tag on the dog's call collar that says champ the image should illustrate the story you just
236. 38:46told and so now it will go make those images better get cracking Kyle what did I do what happened what happened what

284. 47:03generated images so Nicholas there's the copyright stuff is a very very very very very very very very very very very very
285. 47:13very contentious and gray area it is not clear one of the things that's the biggest misconceptions about the way generative AI works
286. 47:26is that it's copying and pasting copywritten work it's not when when these models are trained they're trained on copywritten work
287. 47:37right hence that's where the gray area is but the works as they started out are not what gets embedded into these models
288. 47:47um both on the word side and the image side all this stuff the G in GPT stands for generative generative pre-trained
289. 47:56Transformer it's actually generating kind of from nothing using this training it's it's conceptually more similar to
290. 48:04someone going to school for four years and learning all about Andy Warhol and loving Andy Warhol and when they get out
291. 48:10of school all their art looks like Andy Warhol it's more akin to that now the problem is if you prompt these things
292. 48:19correctly you can get stuff that looks exactly like Andy Warhol and if you invoke artist names and things like that
293. 48:26you can you can get that so so there are all sorts of issues is it copyrightable is it copyright infringement um where's
294. 48:34the attribution um where's the compensation all these issues are to be worked out now if you're super concerned about this let me flip over
295. 48:45here if you're super concerned about this stuff then pay attention to what the companies are doing Adobe for
296. 48:53example has not trained their image models on any copywritten work it's been trained on um public domain and Adobe
297. 49:02stock images that they own the rights to and now they're layering in allowing artists to opt in or opt out of being
298. 49:10trained and the ones that opt in they're coming up with compensation and attribution models for so if you want to avoid those kind of
299. 49:21issues altogether you know stick with something like Adobe now what's the downside of their approach the downside
300. 49:28is that their their images aren't as good because they've been trained on a much smaller set um but I would also learn how these
301. 49:37tools work and and what I've seen some artist friends of mine uh guy named Kenny fredman who's a really brilliant
302. 49:43creative director and really into this image stuff he personally will not use any other artist's name when he's writing his
303. 49:53prompts and so he just figures out if he wants a certain style of an artist he just works until he can get it there and
304. 50:01you know that's a choice you can make um but it's it's a really great area it's going to be my guess 20 years of Court
305. 50:08battles till we sort all this [ __ ] out because it's a lot a lot of people are comparing it to the to the 80s and 90s
306. 50:16with hip-hop when hip-hop artists started sampling thank you for the heart thank you for the heart oh and a
307. 50:21lemonade Sher Banks thank you so much up to level 11 bang um with with sampling with with people sampling music for um for hip-hop they
308. 50:38were literally copying and P pasting right they're taking the piece of music and sort of wrapping it into some other
309. 50:47clips and mixing them and throwing effects on them they were copying and pasting music That's not how these tools
310. 50:55work so it's it's a it's a much more nuanced technical argument and and that's the the defense for the mid
311. 51:04journeys of the world and the open a open AIS of the world and the stable diffusions of the world stability AI is
312. 51:10they're going to say the while they were trained on this work the work itself did not it looks nothing like that in this
313. 51:19thing and it's more akin to people learning something than it is about copying and pasting so we'll see my dad

323. 53:02the copyright office is saying is you've got to prove human contribution what they're saying is if you just type in a
324. 53:09prompt and it makes an image that's not copyrightable if you spend a month writing 6,000 prompts and you combine you know 400 images to
325. 53:23end up with this thing that you then take into Photoshop and do that document all that [ __ ] and then that way if you
326. 53:29want to copyright it you can go to the copyright office and say while AI was used as a tool in the process this was ultimately my
327. 53:38creation um that's the way I see most people working anyway maybe not to that degree um how do you access dolly3 so if you go to bing.com
328. 53:49create that's Dolly 3 it's not as good as Dolly 3 inside chat GPT but if you if you are a chat GPT plus member if you pay the 20 bucks a
329. 54:01month they've been rolling it out over the past week or two so just be patient if it's not there now but pay your 20
330. 54:09bucks to chat GPT and then you'll have Dolly 3 in the context of a chat GPT session and it's really really good it's
331. 54:17better than Bing Bing Bing's implementation of it's not great but to be clear bing.com create is an image
332. 54:25generation tool for free that Microsoft hosts and that is dolly3 so it does text well it only does Square images which is

367. 1:01:30grabbed the crop tool and the crop tool you can either crop in or you can crop out so I just expanded the crop tool
368. 1:01:36wider so the image is now going to be wider than what the original is but there's this what they call a contextual
369. 1:01:44menu here that says generative expand so I can click on that and and I can type something in um or I can just say
370. 1:01:54generate so I'm not going to type anything in I'm just going to let it analyze this image and then fill in the
371. 1:01:59background so literally just say just click on the generate button um where is my mouse there it is and so what it's going to do is it's
372. 1:02:10going to go do its AI [ __ ] what however the hell it does that and then it'll just fill out the image right so it extended this little
373. 1:02:21you know thing down here and it'll create three versions of it so there's one with more more of that
374. 1:02:28[ __ ] and there's one where they kind of look like wings that one's kind of cool but I think H that one looks more organic that
375. 1:02:36one looks more stylistic and artistic or stylized okay so now we're going to do this now I'm going to go and I'm going to draw a
376. 1:02:45little selection right here and I'm going to put spooky eyes spying and let's see if we can get
377. 1:03:01someone off in the shadows to be spying on the big allseeing eye sort of it's creepy but not quite right I don't know what that

392. 1:06:11Microsoft and anthropic and those guys is that you know they're actively getting in front of those people I think
393. 1:06:21that the fact that Jeffrey Hinton quit Google so that he could educate people about this stuff I would imagine that
394. 1:06:30they will create the equivalent of the FAA or you know some regulatory body that looks at the strength of AI and
395. 1:06:43regulates it differently for different kinds of companies and this is this is something so so the big companies got
396. 1:06:51together and they created this thing called the front to your model Coalition or Foundation or something like
397. 1:06:58that basically what they're saying is if you can afford 20,000 gpus to dra to train one of the frontier models the base model like
398. 1:07:08gp4 you need to be dealt with on a different level you need to be regulated if you're doing something significantly Beyond gp4 in terms of
399. 1:07:17capability that should probably be licensed like you license a nuclear power plant like you license you know
400. 1:07:24you know the ability to fly and build airplanes that if you're building things that are significantly more powerful
401. 1:07:31than than what we have today which are already pretty [ __ ] powerful that probably looks like licensing if you can
402. 1:07:37build one of these Frontier models that probably looks like regulation and then what they're basically saying is below
403. 1:07:42that don't regulate too much because you're going to stifle um you're going to stifle Innovation right that's always
404. 1:07:49the balance you strike there so I think the fact that you've got the industry aggressively saying hey this [ __ ] is
405. 1:07:58serious take it serious and and you know you have people like Jeffrey Hinton and Ethan mullik floating around that um are
406. 1:08:08resources that the government can tap into um promising but are they going to [ __ ] it up before they get it right

414. 1:09:29there's there's a couple interviews with Sam Alman where he's like oh we've built [ __ ] that we will never
415. 1:09:35release when I hear statements like that I'm like okay that shit's getting leaked at some point or someone else is going
416. 1:09:43to you know leave open Ai and go build that thing and release it so I don't know what that [ __ ] is but you know it's
417. 1:09:49probably got to do with I don't know identifying people or or you know finding all the information on the internet instantly about any given
418. 1:09:59person or some sort of crap like that um I don't know I don't listen I I I am not I am not well-versed enough in the
419. 1:10:10government to know what I'm talking about at all I'm just kind of cynical about it and assume that the financial
420. 1:10:16interests will write the laws and then we will just suffer the consequences learning Photoshop yeah well I you know I I

500. 1:23:35whole new product that they could go out and sell digital they they they couldn't get out of their own way like like media
501. 1:23:42companies in particular are so [ __ ] married to their existing business model that it's it's just going to be like
502. 1:23:52it's just going to be like Kodak right when the dude walked in from from Kodak and said hey we invented the digital camera and they're
503. 1:24:00like but we're not we're not in the pixel business young man we're in the silver Halli business uh this is all about the chemicals and
504. 1:24:09the the paper it's about real photographs if you know what I mean you know and what was it 10 years later they

514. 1:25:34important the ad agencies don't care about the people other than those are their billable hours that's their business model so and
515. 1:25:45and in fact I won't say the name of the agency we had an agency that we were talking to that their biggest client
516. 1:25:51which was was which is the largest retailer in the world their biggest client said to them we want to increase the use of social
517. 1:26:00video and we showed them our storyvine platform and after three months of [ __ ] us around they said listen they kind of said it like
518. 1:26:12this we love what you do what your technology does actually solves the problem that our client has but that's
519. 1:26:23not our business model we make our money by having our video editors sit there for hours and crank out billable hours good luck to you
520. 1:26:37so like we're just one little company and we're you know we're not using AI automated stuff so but but like there's a mentality
521. 1:26:48that as their clients get more and more educated about what what's possible with these tools they're not going to
522. 1:26:54tolerate time and materials they're not going to tolerate being [ __ ] gouged so the clients are going to start
523. 1:27:01saying listen I don't really care about your business model I want you to produce the same quality work or
524. 1:27:11better twice as fast for half as much and if you can't do it Jim and Sally over here that used to work at your agency they just started

538. 1:29:48prompts where you push a button and it makes a blog post learning how to talk to these large language models and
539. 1:29:57and keeping up with kind of what they're doing and how they're moving from single purpose like text only to multimodal
540. 1:30:05where you can do text and images is going to serve you so if you don't have time for that [ __ ] then I would strongly recommend fat or

571. 1:35:01doing is understanding how to blur the line between editorial and advertising and the room went [ __ ] dead

618. 1:43:27one was take a breath and then answer carefully or answer there's another one that's like um think step by step and
619. 1:43:38then answer this right and so you tell it to think step by step um but yeah it's Again part of the art of understanding these large language
620. 1:43:48models is that they need a lot of context they they need a lot of understanding if you just say write me a
621. 1:43:55blog post it will write you a blog post but if you start talking about you know this particular kind of business and
622. 1:44:02this particular kind of Challenge and these particular kind of experts and you know this kind of nested context and
623. 1:44:10then say write me a blog post in that context it's going to write you a much better blog post but the that that study
624. 1:44:19that you're talking about you're refering to there what the main point of that was is have chat GPT like give it
625. 1:44:25all that context and then have chat GPT write the prompt for you to give to it what kind of degrees do you have I have a BFA in
626. 1:44:39acting um I've got a uh the only thing resembling I I've got a uh I did a a Harvard Business School like a two week
627. 1:44:49thing through Omnicom I sold my company to Omnicom and when they were minority investors I did some sort of Harvard
628. 1:44:56business business school thing and that's it that's it I had a I had a full ride to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival
629. 1:45:04to get my MFA in theater but uh I got an equity job the summer before so two weeks before I was supposed to go to the

694. 1:55:48like oh that's impressive and then I realized I don't know how to run Python and so I said to chat gvt oh I
695. 1:55:59forgot I don't know how to run Python and it said not a problem just open your terminal and type in this command line
696. 1:56:06and install this library and I was like oh God that's awful no I don't want to do command line I said isn't there a
697. 1:56:11website that can I can just copy and paste the code and and see if it works and I said sure here's five so I picked
698. 1:56:18the first one which happened to be rep which is the which is a really good python site or whatever it is you can run python there
699. 1:56:27and I pasted it and I hit the play button and it broke it didn't work it said here's an error and and so I copied
700. 1:56:34the error and I pasted that into chat GPT and it said oh well that means you don't have this Library installed I said
701. 1:56:41okay I don't know how to how to how do you install that library and it told me in repet in the lower left hand corner click on this button
702. 1:56:50and then in the upper right hand corner do a search for this library and then click install and then hit
703. 1:56:58run and so I clicked typed install run and it ran within 90 minutes I had written a fully functional python
704. 1:57:07application that took three text inputs like a subject and couple of questions about it and generated five pieces of
705. 1:57:15social media content by by sending um calls to open AI API in 90 minutes I've never written a line of python in my life in that
706. 1:57:32moment what became clear to me is that the world is not like it was it's just that no one knows it yet the world is not like it

809. 2:14:11coordinates with your friends agents to book social Gatherings and then you have another agent that understands your
810. 2:14:18preferences that finds activities for you to do and then all three of those agents could talk to one another and you
811. 2:14:25also have a work agent that understands when you're busy at work so you could basically just say to your agents
812. 2:14:31maximize my vacation time for the next two months and then they would all coordinate with one another take actions
813. 2:14:38book [ __ ] ask you hey Sally's available go to Cancun on this weekend and it doesn't interfere with work and it's
814. 2:14:45fine in your budget do you want me to ask Sally if she wants to go and you're like no I don't like Sally is Bob

822. 2:15:51software like that's out there right now does it work really good is it perfect no is it going to make you janky
823. 2:15:59ass software that doesn't quite work yes cuz that's the stage we're at we're early we're way early we're way earlier than anyone knows um
824. 2:16:12but play it out 18 months play it out 18 months in 18 months that will exist as a thing that you can just say I want a video game that does
825. 2:16:26blank I want it to be AAA I want it to be this I want it to have driving mechanics I want it to have gambling
826. 2:16:32mechanics I want it to be social I want it to only be available for my friends go 15 minutes later you get a little note want to
827. 2:16:45play there's your custom game or there's your custom vacation plan or there's your custom book that you want
828. 2:16:53to publish so that you can say you're a published author so you can get more speaking gigs so I think I think the auto gens of
829. 2:17:05the world and the auto gpts and the baby agis and all all of the tools that that do that Lang chain is in the hood are all fascinating

838. 2:18:33a little bit of autonomous agent so what what you do here is you can attach a file so I'm going to go grab a zip file
839. 2:18:42that has a CSV in it um let me see archive [Music] I don't know which one this one is I
840. 2:18:58literally don't know what's in this ZIP file but here's what I'm going to [Music] say figure out what's in the zip file and
841. 2:19:11identify the structure of the data and what might be interesting about it based on that so that's not so much a prompt as kind
842. 2:19:23of a an imperative like like it's just kind of like like hey I'd like to know what's in there and so it
843. 2:19:32says it it did this work and it said you can show the work well what was the work it did well it the way Advanced Data analysis Works
844. 2:19:42in chat GPT is it creates what's called a container which is sort of a self-contained little um like think of
845. 2:19:50it like a a mini computer that can that can run and execute um code in your chat session it's like a little bucket in
846. 2:19:58your chat session that can run code and it's been given access to a bunch of python libraries and so it uses the large language
847. 2:20:07model to interpret what you asked and then it gives itself a set of instructions and it writes and executes
848. 2:20:14its own python code so it imported those two libraries it wrote this code to unzip the file and it unzipped the file
849. 2:20:22and then it says okay it contains unemployment data great and it says to better understand it let's look inside
850. 2:20:28the CSV file and so then it Imports pandas library and it goes and looks at the data and like I what all I typed was
851. 2:20:38what's going on in here look it did all this it's prompting itself so so right now this is kind of this self-contained
852. 2:20:46little container within a chat session um I can I can say um make a pretty chart that visualizes one of the more significant Trends in the
853. 2:21:03data and I want it to be aesthetically beautiful and so it's going to go off and do this so now imagine this is an agent that's not only
854. 2:21:17sort of doing this stuff within your chat session but it's going out to the internet and executing stuff out there
855. 2:21:23it's got access to your travel sites and you've given it permission to go to your travel sites and it can go out and find
856. 2:21:31the cheapest prices across 10 different sites and so it can become its own Expedia and then it can interact with
857. 2:21:39another agent that's interacting with some other part of your life and you have all these different agents and
858. 2:21:43they're all taking action on your behalf and all you're doing is you're kind of like Oz behind the curtain right you're
859. 2:21:50just saying here's what I want done go do that and and the go do that part is going to get more and more and more and more
860. 2:22:03sophisticated and I mean I I'll go back to Ron and his and his newspaper buddies there what a newspapers look like in the
861. 2:22:11future am I going to go to the New York Times probably not but what I'm probably going to do is I'm probably going to use
862. 2:22:20something like Google bard who cut a $100 million deal with the New York Times to get their data so that I can
863. 2:22:29say to Bard hey tell me what's going on in the news in this particular area and limit your search to trusted
864. 2:22:38sources and so it will limit it to New York Times and whatever other sources Google cut deals with and and so how you interact with
865. 2:22:49trusted news sources in the future is probably going to be hyper personalized um and it may not look at all like the current advertising
866. 2:23:00model and so what do those companies do but that's that's kind of the the future of autonomous agents and I mean even you know even the
867. 2:23:12um even the do [ __ ] right we'll put it in do mode here and go um make me an image
868. 2:23:30of an audience watching the clock and the clock is about to strike 10:30 p.m. so Dolly 3 now it says it's
869. 2:23:46creating images what it's actually doing is it's off writing its own prompts it's writing four distinct
870. 2:23:52prompts it's creating one as a photo one as an illustration one is a 3D rendering I don't I don't I don't know what it's
871. 2:23:59doing it doesn't matter it it will be completely irrelevant to any of us what the [ __ ] it's doing now who it may be
872. 2:24:08relevant to are the people that programmed it but like that's an autonomous agent right that thing if I wanted to
