5. 0:33mathematical conjecture was solved. One of the Erdos math problems. And there's just a lot. There's just a lot.

16. 2:07minutes. So, that can happen. We've had the whole week. I I saw the Odyssey this weekend. So, and I just saw a remarkable
17. 2:17video from RFK talking about the Odyssey. Go Go Google that one.

29. 4:53know, 3 weeks now we've been in high 90s. It's been my car my car thermometer thing What's it called? Thermometer. Um,
30. 5:06has registered 100° for the past 6 days straight. And late into the day, it's bizarre. Why AI? Because as a species
31. 5:26we like progressing. And in the 1950s Alan Turing and a bunch of people wondered out loud, what if we connected computers
32. 5:43in a way that mimicked how we understand brain cells are connected. And they created the the very first
33. 5:51primitive neural nets. And for the past 75 years, 70 75 years, computer scientists have been playing with this thing.
34. 6:02And in 2017, some nerds at Google came up with this thing called the Transformer in a paper called Attention is All You Need.
35. 6:13And then some nerds at Open AI realized, "Hey, the more data and the more compute we throw at this computer thing,
36. 6:23the smarter it seems to get. But there must be some upper limit." And so they just went out and started
37. 6:28throwing all the data at it. And around 2020, they landed on this thing called GPT-3. And it was really flipping smart. And by
38. 6:41the end of 2022, they had this thing kind of worked out. And in the documentation of the API for GPT-3,
39. 6:53were the literal instructions for how to build ChatGPT. And nobody built it. And this model was so good that Sam Altman showed it to
40. 7:09to Satya Nadella from Microsoft and said, "Hey, look at this. Isn't this cool?" And Satya said, "Hey, sure. Why don't I
41. 7:18give you a billion dollars?" And Sam said, "Cool." And then um Sam thought, "If we're going to announce that Microsoft invested a
42. 7:27billion dollars in us, then maybe just maybe we should have something to show the public." And so he had some of his
43. 7:33engineers go off and build this ChatGPT thing that was in the documentation that someone else could have built, but didn't.
44. 7:41And they built it in a couple of weeks and they launched it on November 30th, 2022. They got a million users in 5 days and
45. 7:51100 million users in 6 weeks. It was the fastest adoption of technology in history. That's why AI. 75 year history of making incremental
46. 8:01progress. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, and then all of a sudden, boom. SO, THAT'S WHY.
47. 8:07NOW, YOUR QUESTION MIGHT BE, is it good? Is it bad? I don't know. That's what we're going to talk about over in the AI
