6:14 do consistent characters across
6:17 images and because I'm
6:21 lazy I thought well why don't I come up
6:24 with some narrative
6:27 Concepts and then just have chat GPT
6:29 write all the prompts and then just copy
6:31 and paste them and use the character
6:32 reference to keep the characters
6:34 consistent hello consistent Kyle hello

6:40 um and so I did three of them
6:43 today
6:46 um well I did one did I do the one last
6:50 night yeah yeah I did the New York one
6:53 last night I posted that on
6:56 LinkedIn and it was interesting cuz I
6:58 think some people thought it was real
7:00 which was good that was what I was
7:01 hoping would happen and then and then
7:03 other people got it and then I did a
7:06 second one and then I did a third one
7:07 you were having a blast in that at that
7:09 conference weren't
7:12 you oh at the at the conference last
7:15 Wednesday the the workshop I gave yeah I
7:17 I mean I I like presenting and and I
7:20 like uh you know I like the the subject
7:23 I like the topic so
7:26 um it was a really interesting room full
7:29 of people there
7:32 were maybe well it was probably 40 or 50
7:35 somewhere between 40 and 50
7:37 people and there were probably five in
7:41 there that were nodding when I was
7:43 talking about stuff and there
7:46 were a handful that were like sort of
7:49 getting it and the rest so so maybe 10
7:52 out of the 40 let's call it 40 showed up
7:55 10 out of the 40 had some semblance of a
7:58 clue what AI was
8:00 the rest not a [ __ ] clue like not a
8:03 clue like the stuff that I was sharing
8:07 was revelatory to them like they didn't
8:10 know it was possible they didn't know
8:12 what this [ __ ]
8:13 was um so it was pretty wild it was a
8:16 fun
8:18 night noodling or nodding off so what
8:21 are you going to do for April fools oh
8:23 that's a Ah that's a really good idea
8:25 well I kind of started today here let me
8:26 show you what I what I put they've got
8:29 an article format that's almost
8:31 identical it looks like they're using
8:33 the same technology almost to um to
8:36 LinkedIn
8:38 articles cuz I wanted to do more than um
8:42 more than a handful of
8:45 images oh I also just posted this to
8:49 um I posted this to the showand tell
8:53 channel right let me get the image

9:07 summer some someone said last night he
9:08 looks like a young Orson Wells so I
9:12 named this guy K KS Wells K period S
9:16 period wells in the summer of 1973 KS
9:19 Wells started out in Chicago on Route 60
9:22 on a on a route 66 road trip oh no this
9:26 is new okay so I took the same dude last
9:28 night I did him in New York City and
9:32 today this was the first thing I did
9:35 today today I said give me a set of
9:38 prompts from from
9:41 1973 from a a Route 66 road trip and and
9:45 chat PT started Route 66 in Chicago I
9:49 didn't know that's where Route 66
9:51 started I I actually had to Google that
9:54 so this shot is from Chicago in
9:56 1973 he goes live even on on Easter wow

11:04 apparently I don't know who took the
11:07 picture but apparently he got dumped so
11:11 drowning his
11:12 Sorrows there he is at the uh see there
11:15 he is at the movie theaters watching a
11:16 movie of
11:20 himself some more roadside
11:24 attractions that one's kind of cool it's
11:26 a nice

11:51 um I guess here it was in New Mexico you
11:54 know Southwest hang hanging out hanging
11:57 out with the Indians on the on on the
12:00 reservations and there's like the Route
12:03 66
12:06 TPS from you know these were like these
12:09 were made in like 1958 or something like
12:12 that you know in 1973 they're kind of
12:14 tired and worn

17:27 generated I had chachy PT make me 10
17:31 prompts and then I dump the prompts into
17:34 mid
17:36 Journey maybe added a little just detail
17:39 like the specific kind of photograph I
17:41 wanted if it didn't add that
17:44 correctly it generated four Images per
17:47 prompt so I did 40 images
17:50 per
17:53 dude
17:57 and and then I just picked the ones that
17:59 didn't suck and there were a lot that
18:03 sucked here I'll show you actually yeah
18:05 you know what for this channel I'll show
18:07 you I'll go through
18:18 everything all right so here's here's
18:21 all
18:23 the road
18:27 trip there is trying to prompt these are
18:30 the ones I did last night right so these
18:33 are the New York City in the in the late
18:36 80s
18:43 photos and then so this
18:46 was this was the road
18:49 trip so that one I kept that one I kept
18:52 was
18:55 okay that one I probably should have
18:57 kept that one's actually pretty
19:00 good that's the one I
19:05 kept see how everything like he shows up
19:08 twice in the image once is
19:14 the it's just a good sad 1970s
19:19 photo my question that I have used Dolly
19:23 and chat BT but I have never but I never
19:27 have nice pictures like mid Journey yeah
19:30 you got to get I mean with dolly dolly
19:32 is definitely less photo realistic than
19:35 mid Journey you can if if you use
19:38 photographic terms like kod chrome ecta
19:41 chrome you know like film stocks or if
19:44 you say things like cinematic or say
19:47 things like um professional photography
19:50 as if you know filmed by a specific
19:53 photographer it can get pretty good how
19:56 do you keep the same image consistent
19:57 throughout so I'll show you I'll show
19:59 you in both Discord and uh and in the
20:02 web thing here I I'll show you it's it's
20:05 pretty it's it's not pretty slick the
20:08 results are pretty slick how you do it
20:11 is pretty obscure and weird there there
20:14 he is sitting with
20:16 himself so I didn't keep that one but
20:18 the girlfriend was fine here's the bunch
20:20 of movie ones where it's all just it's
20:22 either him like like having merged with
20:26 the car like sitting like his torso is
20:29 sitting on top of the trunk and I guess
20:31 the um rest of him is in the
20:34 [Laughter]
20:38 trunk so a lot of those weren't
20:42 usable that's okay but there's weird
20:44 like that one he's got like a beer can
20:47 stuck to his sleeve like velcro to his
20:50 sleeve here there's a a paint can just
20:52 sort of
20:53 floating right by his

21:02 backwards you know but but again I
21:04 didn't you know for me I didn't care cuz
21:08 mid Journey did most of the work I'm

21:14 the art of these is in the narrative

21:20 it's in it's in the editing right which
21:22 ones do you
21:26 keep these are all really weird where
21:28 his body's just the completely wrong
21:30 proportion like there the car is all
21:32 [ __ ] up his body's all [ __ ] up here
21:35 here he's sort of melting into the Hood
21:37 in a weird kind of
21:40 way listening to an audible book about
21:43 Ai and medicine I it can't come fast
21:46 enough I'm like bring on the AI in
21:48 medicine I'm I'm uh I'm done with the
21:51 medical
21:55 community there's

23:48 Gathering but it did a lot of cards as
23:50 like poker
23:51 cards and poker chips like there's poker
23:54 chips and he's got a pair of pocket
23:57 aces there he is
23:59 there he is shirts are skins there he
24:02 again is again playing poker poker
24:06 that's a really good shot I love that
24:07 shot
24:13 actually right but it like I it's so
24:17 amazing that you
24:19 can you know I can just give it a
24:21 concept of a story and Chachi PT is
24:25 smart enough to understand narrative and
24:27 tell the story and it's smart enough to
24:29 put together prompts in a decent like
24:32 the prompts were not great the prompts
24:34 are okay it didn't quite understand
24:37 prompt structure and I didn't take any
24:38 time to make the prompts good right I
24:40 just I just was being lazy and just kind
24:43 of doing this while I was
24:45 watching sports and
24:49 [ __ ] yeah some of these are just really
24:51 weird
24:53 rooms that one's kind of cool that one's
24:57 bizarre there I don't know where his
24:59 legs are going they're just sort of
25:01 Disappearing down in the
25:05 floor I mean that looks like a doesn't
25:08 that look like a Time
25:09 magazine photo from like
25:13 1973 right all the [ __ ] in the
25:16 foreground you know he's the big
25:17 collector of magazines or whatever the
25:19 hell it
25:24 was that's it that's those all right so
25:27 here's how we do those

25:59 storytelling is Shifting she did that
26:01 Cadillac commercial a couple of days ago
26:04 and I saw one of her videos today was
26:06 like this little kid by a lake cabin and
26:11 it was kind and it was it was uh
26:13 horizontal you know full one of the Tik
26:16 Tok full screen things where you can
26:17 turn the phone and it goes full screen
26:20 and it and it was very narrative and and
26:23 kind of the story of this kid and uh it
26:26 was it was super cool so I this idea of
26:30 of telling
26:31 narrative quickly but well is is really
26:34 exciting to me so is the image images
26:37 story written in the first wait is the
26:40 images
26:43 story written first and then used as the
26:46 prompt um not
26:49 really your session expired what the
26:52 [ __ ] is that did they reset something
26:55 here or did it actually just expire
27:00 see if we get some new features maybe we
27:02 get some Sunday night
27:08 blessings settings anything new
27:14 nope looks like the same [ __ ] all right
27:17 um so what I
27:24 did well we'll go to the very first one
27:26 I did last night
27:30 so I uploaded I uploaded the source
27:33 picture so that's the that's the picture
27:35 from from my Kyle Shannon dreams project
27:37 that I'm using as the source to maintain
27:40 the character
27:41 consistency and then I said to chat GPT
27:44 describe that man which in the end I
27:46 don't think that really
27:48 mattered and then I said great now I
27:51 want you to write 10 short image prompts
27:53 that describe a photograph from a
27:56 specific location in New York City
27:59 between these dates I also want you to
28:01 describe a specific photographic style
28:04 as part of the prompt EG
28:06 Polaroid color Street high contrast
28:09 black and white etc etc and then it
28:12 wrote the prompts and I think it got
28:14 them wrong a little
28:16 bit what did they it said a stark black
28:19 and white image showing the contrast and
28:21 shadows it didn't it didn't mention the
28:22 man in the initial prompts then I said
28:26 include the man and it it describes him
28:29 as the man not just a
28:31 man high contrast black and white
28:34 photograph of the man crossing a vibrant
28:38 crowded Time Square in the late 1980s
28:42 and that
28:44 image the four images that came from
28:48 that were pretty [ __ ]
28:57 good
29:08 it was that
29:10 one so the
29:13 prompt was high contrast black and white
29:16 man crossing a vibrant crowded Time
29:21 Square and then that was one that looks
29:23 more like Wall Street than Time Square
29:25 but it's still that one's really good
29:27 that's sort of the hero image of his
29:28 whole thing can I join your community

30:44 letting mid Journey do its
30:46 thing and again like what what this what
30:49 this says to me is that you know there's
30:51 kind of an infinite number of ways like
30:53 however you get there with these tools
30:56 like if you want to be really detailed
30:59 about your prompting and do structured
31:00 prompting and and really craft the [ __ ]
31:02 out of the prompts you can absolutely do
31:04 that the salon. a first links read the
31:07 values introduce yourself thank you
31:08 Silver Fox that's great yeah the the AI
31:11 Salon if you don't know is is a
31:12 community I started the week after chat
31:14 GPT came out and it's a really amazing
31:18 group of people and a really amazing
31:21 resource with lots of subc communities
31:23 and and places you can share things and
31:25 um you know news areas and and Gil s and
31:29 all sorts of things like that um so I
31:32 don't know if that answered your your

31:36 um but basically I just got it once I
31:39 once I got it to sort of describe the
31:43 The Prompt
31:45 indecently accurate mid-journey language
31:48 I just stopped I like I didn't like I've
31:50 done I did very little refining of the
31:52 prompts I just went over and copied and
31:55 pasted them over in in mid
31:57 Journey
31:59 and got those things so okay so how do
32:02 we do this we'll start out in
32:08 Discord and if you don't know Discord
32:12 this is Discord so Discord is is a
32:14 community kind of software where you
32:17 have different servers down the side I'm
32:19 in the AI Salon Discord um you can also
32:22 do this inside the mid Journey Discord
32:24 or you know there can be there might be
32:25 other communities why I like doing it in
32:27 the AI salon on Discord is there's very
32:29 little traffic here so you kind of have
32:31 a little private area where you can um
32:34 do these things but you're also doing it
32:37 with people that you know from the salon
32:39 so that's kind of
32:40 nice um and the way you make a
32:43 mid-journey images you do slash oh well
32:46 so wait let me let me first I'm going to

35:12 not a lot and then the way that you
35:15 reference the the way that you make it
35:18 that guy that guy um and not just any
35:22 guy in a basement is this new thing
35:24 called well wait I'm going to go D- AR
35:27 which stands for aspect ratio and I'm
35:29 going to do an aspect ratio of of
35:33 4:3 or uh no I'll do
35:36 3:2 which is 35 mm is that right I think
35:41 that's right I think it's 3 to2
35:45 um and then I'm going to go dash
35:49 dash
35:51 CF c e f which stands for character
35:55 reference single space you can't do
35:59 multiple spaces and then I and then I I
36:01 need to paste the URL of that image that
36:04 I uploaded so how you get that URL is
36:06 you right click on the image and you say
36:09 copy
36:11 link and then you just paste that after
36:13 the
36:14 CF and then I can additionally put D- CW
36:19 for character weight and then a space
36:21 and this is a number between 0o and
36:24 100 a waiting of zero will just keep his
36:28 face but change out everything else his
36:31 hair his clothes everything a waiting of
36:33 100 will try to maintain everything so
36:36 in this case I want it to change things
36:39 up so I'm doing a character waiting of
36:42 30 so it's closer to swapping out his
36:45 clothes but there's something kind of
36:47 cool and geeky about the that
36:49 character's clothes and that's it so
36:51 slash imagine then you put in your
36:53 prompt then I put in aspect ratio of 3
36:56 to2 so it'll make it a horizontal image
37:00 um and then CF the URL and then
37:04 character waiting and then that's it and
37:05 then it will go off and make these four
37:07 images and then I'll show you how to do

43:07 on Discord a lot of people don't know

43:12 archive of like all the images I've ever
43:15 made and you can just scroll down
43:18 through them and it's it's just so it's
43:19 so funny like having all these images
43:22 and kind of
43:23 remembering you know remembering or not
43:26 what you were doing at the time you
43:27 created them
43:30 so so that's that now if you've got
43:33 access to the alpha the mid Journey
43:35 Alpha there's a create button here which
43:38 if if you don't have access to it
43:40 that'll be gray out but it's going to be
43:42 coming at some point in the next you
43:43 know month or two or three or four who
43:45 knows uh for everyone but it but here's
43:47 how it works so you go to
43:49 create and then at the top of the
43:53 screen you've got your prompt so I'm
43:56 going to type in the same prompt let me
43:57 actually go grab it from Discord cuz it
44:00 was a bit different I changed
44:04 it um here we
44:08 go
44:11 copy so you don't have to type slash
44:13 imagine it just says imagine right there
44:15 so you say
44:17 paste and then I don't need to do
44:20 the um aspect ratio you you can use all
44:23 of your Discord commands but you don't
44:25 have to so there's this little uh toggle
44:29 right here for aspect ratio and things
44:31 like that so you can just you know drag
44:34 this around so I'll do this as kind of a
44:37 snapshot looking aspect ratio and then
44:40 you can turn on turn up stylization or
44:43 weirdness I'll turn weirdness down a
44:45 little bit um so that's that stuff and
44:49 then um and then I hit this plus button
44:52 next to the promt images that I've
44:54 uploaded to do
44:56 this and so this is the dude that I want
45:00 to do and then you can put this image in
45:04 one of three modes there's sort of image
45:07 as prompt mode there's style mode where
45:11 it'll just take the style of this image
45:13 and then there's character reference
45:15 mode so I'm going to put it in character
45:17 reference mode and then once I'm in
45:19 character reference mode I can still
45:21 do-- character
45:23 weight space 30 you know 0 to 100 and
45:27 and that's it I can get rid of that and
45:30 I just hit return and now it's
45:34 generating the images here so a similar
45:38 sort of process
45:41 um I wouldn't necessarily call it an
45:44 easier interface it's a different
45:48 interface
45:51 um
45:53 but I like it so much better than um
45:58 than Discord because I [ __ ] hate
46:02 having to do command line interfaces for
46:06 a creative a visual visually creative

47:16 much a Maverick kind of company so my
47:20 suspicion is that the bulk of their
47:23 engineering is going to making image
47:26 generation and video generation and 3D
47:28 object generation better because I from
47:31 what I understand we're going to get um
47:33 3D from mid Journey first and then we're
47:37 going to get video from them and
47:39 apparently they're they're excited about
47:41 what their video is going to be but it's
47:42 not ready yet so I would assume that th
47:46 this my guess I'm this is total chat TMZ
47:49 speculation but just judging by how slow
47:53 the the web product is developing and
47:55 how it's it's still kind of janky
47:58 that it feels very much like open ai's
48:01 GPT store where they don't have their
48:04 best and their brightest on it right
48:06 like it's good it's competent it's you
48:08 know it's it's got some interesting
48:11 interface things to it but like this is
48:13 clearly not their 100% of their focus so
48:16 but I I I like it a lot better than

49:57 1973 one of them was an intern at Los
50:01 Alamos under
50:03 Oppenheimer and one of them was a magic
50:07 the Gathering nerd um who's the best in
50:10 the world but lives in his mother's
50:13 basement cuz cliche why not
50:18 um we we don't need any original ideas
50:21 here people and then and then I was just
50:23 showing people basically how I did it
50:25 you know what I produced what I edited
50:27 and and the process I did to get there
50:29 and then someone asked how to do the
50:30 character reference
50:32 thing and that's been most of what we've
50:34 done made a GPT tonight and it jumped
50:37 right into configure mode rather than
50:40 create mode yeah it's been doing that
50:42 weird it's it's not weird
50:45 it's here's
50:48 the while configure is
50:51 theoretically less intuitive than create
50:56 mode
50:57 the problem with chat GPT and this is a
51:00 this is a big interface problem I think
51:02 someone's going to need to [ __ ] crack
51:04 this every every large language model
51:08 right now that has a chat
51:10 interface requires the user to go
51:14 first and that's stupid because most
51:18 users don't know what to
51:20 do so I think that what open AI has
51:24 probably done is they they initially
51:26 when they launched the GPT Builder they
51:28 defaulted it to the create mode which is
51:30 basically just a chat GPT interface it
51:32 says tell us what you want to build and
51:34 we'll build it I don't think people know
51:36 what to do so I think theyve flipped it
51:38 over to the and and that it's also Pro
51:41 the create mode is kind of problematic
51:43 if you use it too much it [ __ ] up your
51:45 GPT so I have a feeling they just they
51:47 just changed the default to the
51:49 configure mode which is a bit more
51:51 technical but it's it's more clear

55:51 ideogram those are the three I'd play
55:53 with mid Journey just because it's
55:55 better at images in general you can tell
55:57 mid journey to design a logo for you
56:00 what mid journe is not good at is the
56:02 typography part of
56:04 that
56:06 so I would Pro I would I would actually
56:10 use these four things if I if I really
56:13 was serious about doing a
56:14 logo I'd use
56:18 illustrators um text to Vector tool or
56:23 text to I forget what it's called text
56:25 to oh text to icon it's
56:28 called I'd use illustrators text to Icon
56:31 I think canva probably has something
56:32 like that too um I would use mid Journey
56:36 if you've got access to that I would use
56:38 do Do's good at text and I would use
56:42 ideogram ideogram is the weakest at
56:45 images but the best at
56:47 text Dolly 3 inside chat GPT and
56:51 co-pilot is good at text good at images
56:55 it's like
56:57 50/50 mid Journey's brilliant at images
57:01 well kind of shitty at text but getting
57:03 better um and then the the illustrator
57:07 thing is just that's generating a
57:09 scalable image right from the
57:12 GetGo
57:15 um and depending on your logo style
57:18 you're likely going to have to take it
57:20 into illustrator and vectorize it right
57:22 turn it into paths so it's infinitely
57:25 scalable so not a great answer and there
57:28 and there are also
57:30 probably dedicated logo generating
57:33 software out there that now has AI in it
57:35 that I don't know about so check canva
