10. 1:43me explain what's going on here so if you haven't tried chat gbt this channel is about demystifying AI getting curious about AI
11. 1:52answering questions about it brainstorming collaborating and if you haven't played with chat gbt that's what
12. 1:59these URLs are for so this is if if you're like I keep hearing about this AI thing I don't know anything about it I
13. 2:07think it's just hype but are the robots gonna kill us are the robots gonna kill us if that's you or someone you know then you've come
14. 2:17to the right place um that top URL right there is Chachi BT's official website so while you're listening to me Babylon go to
15. 2:27chat.openai.com and start playing with it and I'll tell you what to do and there's all sorts of things you can do
16. 2:32there if you haven't played with it it's kind of the most power piece of technology ever put in the hands of normal everyday people it
17. 2:42is [ __ ] remarkable oh and by the way I swear here too so if you don't like the cuss words then might want to find another person
18. 2:55but anyway go there start playing um bing.com is Microsoft's search engine but also they if you click their chat button
19. 3:04it's actually chat GPT and it's gpt4 which is the new fancy model and you get you get it for free and it's connected
20. 3:11to the internet so chatgpt has this limit where it can't it doesn't know anything past September 2021 well when
21. 3:18it's connected to the internet now it does you can also get chat CPT for uh at the official website but you have to pay for
22. 3:26it there it's free at bing.com then you can also get it at poe.com but they've got six different large language
23. 3:33models you can play with and they have a whole bunch of bots you can play with and it's just worth look checking out
24. 3:38the thing I spend most of my time on in in all of the AI stuff going on is chat.openai.com so that's what that is okay now these other
25. 3:48uh URLs here prompts.chat is just a big long document the the beginning of it teaches you about prompting and how it works and
26. 3:58how these large language models do what they do and then it's a massive list of basically chat GPT personas where you
27. 4:06can tell Chachi PT to act like an expert basically so act like a Storyteller act like a mathematician act like a
28. 4:12psychologist act like it's basically just a massive list of those and believe it or not if you do that with chat gbt
29. 4:19if you provide it context I want you to act like this here's the problem I'm having um can you help and it will it's pretty
30. 4:29remarkable and then futurepedia.io that's just a big giant directory of AI tools I think there's about 4 000 in
31. 4:35there right now just under four thousand um most of them ninety percent of them are horrific pieces of [ __ ] that are not
32. 4:44worth your time but like I could spend the next decade at chat.openai.com at chatgpt and not figure out all the things you could do
33. 4:53with it okay so if you've got um if you've got any questions about AI pop them in the comments below I'll do my

35. 5:08company called storyvine uh I was a and uh and I guess an innovator I hate calling myself that I was there at the
36. 5:16early days of the World Wide Web I started one of the first digital agencies in 94. and uh kind of rode that
37. 5:22wave up like discovered you know the power of this thing called the world wide web and I thought this is going to
38. 5:27change everything and I didn't think I'd see that again in my lifetime something that profound um being in at the beginning
39. 5:34we're here right now with this stuff so that's that's why I'm doing this so anyway let's get started and see what questions

41. 5:52I I listen I think we're all gonna have to deal with it so if if all of us get there even a month earlier than we would
42. 6:00have otherwise then I think this is a good thing what's the easiest way to make AI videos so go to you can download
43. 6:06an app or or just search for runwayml uh and then um if you want to use their tools online I think you have to do it in Discord but
44. 6:16they have this thing called gen 1 where you can upload a little video snippet and then give it a prompt so you like
45. 6:22upload a video snippet of your dog walking across the living room and then you say you know claymation you know dog
46. 6:30in a field and it will take the movement of your video and replace it with like a claymation dog walking through a field
47. 6:37so that's gen 1 and then gen 2. is um just text to video so you just type in I want a picture of a 747 flying across
48. 6:50the clouds there it'll be those are limited to like three second Clips I just saw something on the Twitter
49. 6:59let me go see if I can find it real quick I forget what it was called I just saw it today it looks like there's a new
50. 7:03a new video texted video model out there that does 30 second clips see text to video I'm just on Twitter right now
51. 7:15if you're wondering what magical site I'm searching that's a Nerf let's see I think Andre carpathy talked about it today he's the dude from
52. 7:28uh oh yeah okay it's called zero scope V here I'll flip my camera around hold please let's go look at some video let's go to the videotape

54. 8:01scope based video model capable of generating 1024 by 576. video on hugging face so if you don't know what hugging face is it's a place
55. 8:12where lots of AI models are stored and you can you can test them and you can download them and there's a bunch of
56. 8:19Open Source stuff there and there's proprietary stuff there but that video is all uh I guess it's text to video this model
57. 8:29was trained with offset noise using 9923 clips and 29 769 tagged frames so yeah there you go I don't know if it's any
58. 8:44good I haven't played with that one but it's brand new it it are brand new oops that was not what I wanted to do
59. 8:51I just almost hung up on you all trying to flip my camera so that's what happens when you get an old guy trying to use

62. 9:24contracts so you can use so let's let's do we'll do a little chat GPT primer here since there's a bunch of new folks or I just started
63. 9:35so let me flip my camera back the other direction and let's go to the chat GPT okay so here we are at chat GPT
64. 9:46um hang on my little camera stands not cooperating what is going on all right hold please okay um so this is chat gbt um you'll notice
65. 9:58I've got this little yellow tag here that means I pay 20 bucks a month for it there's chat GPT plus I don't need to
66. 10:03brag or anything but yeah I'm paying them 20 a month okay so what you're looking at here if you've never seen chat GPT down the left is
67. 10:11your chat history here's your account we're I'm going to show you that in a second and then if you pay for chat GPT
68. 10:18plus you get access to gpt4 and some other stuff if you don't pay for GPT plus you get access to GPT 3.5 which I think they
69. 10:27call GPT turbo for whatever reason they name it twice and um it's still really really really really good gbt 3.5 is still better than
70. 10:38most other things out there and it's very fast okay if you pay for it you also get access to um gpt4 connected to the internet they
71. 10:49call it browse with Bing and then plugins what's fascinating is browse with big bing is basically just a
72. 10:55plug-in but you know they give it its own little line there you also get access to anything new that openai is coming up with there's
73. 11:02something that I am feverishly awaiting called code interpreter which will be another mode here so if you pay the 20 bucks sometimes people
74. 11:11are like well what do you get for the 20 why should I pay the twenty dollars Kyle should I really play the
75. 11:19Kyle there's a lot of that right so so the reason I pay it um is access to the new stuff the new thing coming called code interpreter is
76. 11:28face melting if you want to if you do anything around data analytics or data analysis um go to YouTube and search for code
77. 11:37interpreter chat GPT but anyway that's coming okay now if you pay your 20 bucks for a GPT plus and you don't see those
78. 11:45extra things you have to actually turn on access to them so here's how you do that you go to your settings
79. 11:52and then in your settings there's this thing called beta features and you have to enable them right so browse with Bing
80. 11:58you have to turn it on plugins you have to turn it on why I don't know because they're beta and they don't want people you know
81. 12:08bitching at them because the ship doesn't work all that great so anyway okay so now the question was what is a good plug-in to
82. 12:18um read legal documents so what I use is ask your PDF um so I I actually have that enabled right now I also have instacart enabled I can
83. 12:28show you both of those but you can also go to the plugin store and you can search for let me let it load here well so we'll
84. 12:38also see how many plugins there are now we'll go all there are now 141 times 4 so what is that four
85. 12:52560. is that right 140 Jesus 280 yeah 560. uh I I invested the the math I I ain't real good at them book smarts okay uh PDF so I'm going to
86. 13:08search for PDF not prf p d f and then there are like you know 20 or 25 uh oh no there's like 20 uh different
87. 13:24things that you can interact with PDFs with um link reader's one that's interesting web pilot I use so so
88. 13:34um so anyway so the way you do these things you go to the um the plug-in store and if you don't have
89. 13:43something installed you just hit install and then when you go back to this window you now have this little pull down menu
90. 13:49if you're in plugins mode now you have this pull down menu so I'm going to turn on web pilot as well and so let's go find
91. 14:02we're going to go out on the internet and we're going to find legal brief examples and then I'm going to type PDF
92. 14:13because we want to find a PDF that's online how to write one sample briefs from the student Bar Association is this a PDF
93. 14:29that's not very long it's not very interesting let's do a supreme Court filing PDF
94. 14:45uh case documents please tell me we're going to be able to find them easily uh come on I just want one I don't want to
95. 15:00have to search this okay what you're experiencing right now this is why Google is in trouble because um in fact you know you know what we're
96. 15:08gonna do We're not gonna do this in Google anymore we're going to flip over to chat GPT connected to the internet please find
97. 15:16me a good example um legal brief in PDF format maybe a supreme
98. 15:31court case question mark and now what that should do is fire off browsing the web which it is and it will go figure out where to
99. 15:40search so rather than going through the Byzantine nightmare of search engine optimized crap that here's an example
100. 15:51all right you're going to give me a link to it please give me a link to it there we go okay so again the the link here let's go
101. 15:59look at it page not found all right there's another thing you need to know about chat EBT that link was dead please find another
102. 16:12chatgpt produces really remarkable content but it is completely unaware of what it's given you and it doesn't do
103. 16:20things like check if it's actually giving you facts or not so it's what's called hallucinating sometimes where it
104. 16:27will just give you something that is um is uh just wrong and if you don't check it page not found okay let's try something else please
105. 16:42get me something other than Supreme court site isn't working it's possible that that site worked but I just had to sign up for it
106. 17:00but this is actually a good a good example of how to use chat GPT to do research to find things just make things you know slightly
107. 17:13easier than digging through Google crap like I've gotten to the point where I I would rather sit and wait 20 seconds for
108. 17:20chat to figure it out like they're just said click failed so whatever it tried to get it it just failed than to dig through all that crap
109. 17:30um looks like someone wants to pop up on stage you know what I'm gonna hit decline right now Heather but uh ping me
110. 17:37again in a second and I'll bring you up let me just finish I want to show this person how to search a PDF document if
111. 17:44we can find a PDF document it would sure be nice oh I know you know what I could do I've got that failed okay I'm going
112. 17:50to stop generating we're going to go back to the Google we're gonna go um legal brief um file type colon PDF
113. 18:06from memo to appellate is this actually a legal brief please be a legal brief no is it no legal brief example of illegal brief
114. 18:27file type PDF mm-hmm
115. 18:43I think we were here already oh this is maddening wait is this one you know it's only three pages long
116. 18:50that's not impressive we want a long one day [Music]
117. 19:10okay well this isn't a legal brief but best practices for motions brief writing so here's a description of a course on
118. 19:17that anyway I'm gonna grab that that PDF said I'm going to come back to the chat gbt I'm going to go to plugins and now I've got um
119. 19:28what's it called ask your PDF I've got instacart which that shouldn't matter and I've also got um web pilot so in any chat session you
120. 19:37can have up to three plugins enabled and so now I can just say based on this and then I'm going to type in that or paste
121. 19:45in that URL and I'm hitting shift return to do a line break please summarize um with top five bullet point um
122. 19:59Keys whatever it'll understand what that means you can write fairly crappy prompts and it seems to understand it so
123. 20:05what that should do now is it'll figure out which plug-in to use so it's using web pilot so web pilot can go look at a
124. 20:12web page URL or a PDF or I think a couple of other things it's also using ask your PDF that's interesting it's
125. 20:18using it recognized that both of those might do it so one of them didn't like it what did web Pilots say
126. 20:34it couldn't read that document oh because it wasn't a PDF oh good lord isn't that nice when you try to show show someone something it's like
127. 20:46it ain't working it was a PDF oh [Music] how to breach the case let's just try another document all right let's do copy we'll go back here
128. 21:02we'll scroll down and we'll say based on this oh well let's let's see what it does here I didn't I didn't actually give it a prompt please
129. 21:16um please oh it actually oh that's interesting so so it actually remembered so up above I prompted it
130. 21:27and I said summarize it and give me the the top five keys and it said here are the five key points so the name of the
131. 21:34case write the name of the case at the beginning of your brief what are the facts what are the issues what are the
132. 21:38Holdings so you can take any PDF that you've got or any web page that's got you know legal stuff on it and you can
133. 21:46search for it so anyway hope that helped sorry that was such a [ __ ] show nightmare of me trying to find documents uh this is
134. 21:56why Google's in trouble though it really is it really like finding [ __ ] on Google used to be a thing and it ain't now because the SEO
135. 22:06game just you know [ __ ] things up everything there's just too much SEO up to my stuff so all you find is like you

139. 22:42that top one is the official chat GPT website if you haven't used it yet thanks for the for the for the kind
140. 22:47words or the kind Taps uh if you keep tapping it'll let people know we're here I appreciate that um AI is going to kill us but not like
141. 22:55Blade Runner or Terminator Okay how do you explain how it has started to teach itself things that it was not programmed
142. 23:02to do yeah they call that emergent Behavior which is a particularly geeky term for holy [ __ ] [ __ ] guys did you
143. 23:10think it could do that did we train it to do that it no that's called emergent Behavior or uh as we like to call it in the vernacular oh
144. 23:19that's the scariest [ __ ] [ __ ] [Laughter] uh how do you explain it well
145. 23:34once you understand how these large language models work It's relatively easy to understand how they might start to do stuff that is
146. 23:46unanticipated and here's what I mean by that so you know how when you're in um Gmail or in Microsoft Word and you're
147. 23:54typing a sentence and then in Gray it sort of finishes the sentence for you that like the autocomplete at a lot of complete a sentence
148. 24:02that's all large language models are like you know technically they're predicting the next word in a sequence
149. 24:09of words you write this whole prompt it sort of turns that into a mathematical probability and then it says based on
150. 24:16all the [ __ ] that I know which happens to be a mind-boggling amount what's the next most likely word to be the right word
151. 24:27and then it does that you know like a thousand times like when it writes you a thousand word story it's doing it one
152. 24:33word at a time based on probability so a couple of things that are that are interesting one is so one is what's what
153. 24:44does GPT stand for we hear everyone talking about chat GPT what does GPT stand for G stands for generative so it's
154. 24:52generating it's generating original stuff it's not copying and pasting it's generating pre-trained it means that this is a
155. 25:01large language model this is a machine learning model that has been pre-trained you don't have to bring your data
156. 25:07there's all sorts of reasons you want to bring your data but it used to be you had to bring your data you'd bring in
157. 25:13your big pile of medical data and you'd train the large learning model on it and say go look at my you know CAT scans or my
158. 25:20Radiology skins or my whatever words right what the T in um GPT stands for is Transformer so Transformer is a a framework a
159. 25:36technology a protocol that Google invented in 2017 that allows these large language models to be trained on massive
160. 25:43data sets and what openai did the inventors of chat GPT is they said hey I got an idea if this is all about the quality of data
161. 25:54we put in here and we can put in massive amounts of data why don't we train this thing on all of the public internet or
162. 26:00as much as we can possibly get so they spent years tagging and categorizing and and sort of finding you know everything
163. 26:09from Wikipedia to blogs to websites to University Research facilities all that sort of stuff and that's all in there
164. 26:19and so they they did GPT one and then they did gpt2 and then in 2020 they did gpt3 and all of a sudden this thing
165. 26:27started I don't know if it got emergent behaviors back then but it started getting really good and when they put this thing out they're
166. 26:34like this gpt3 thing seems pretty [ __ ] powerful and people started talking about it and then sometime in there they also
167. 26:42trained GPT on all the computer programming languages so they trained it on kind of all of the internet [ __ ] that was out there right
168. 26:51like the past three four Decades of content that has been dumped in the internet and then they also trained it
169. 26:58on like I think all of GitHub and like all the you know all the programming resources right and and they got it they
170. 27:04did some models that were specialized for coding and and and then they they kind of combined those two fine tunings
171. 27:11and guess what they found out that once they trained it how to do computer programming the language [ __ ]
172. 27:17got dramatically better so that was an emergent behavior that that that showed up that they weren't expecting like like
173. 27:24those two things are not causally related right they didn't say go take programming logic and apply that to written words
174. 27:34but the written word stuff got dramatically better once they did that now my theory is like once it kind of
175. 27:41understands you know logic and it's got you know it understands there's kind of these syntax and structure and things
176. 27:48like that maybe there's some way it correlated story structure with coding structure and it just said oh well maybe
177. 27:54I could just take some of this you know logic over here and apply it there so they don't know how it does that or why
178. 27:59it does that but that's the emergent behavior that arrived um like I can't explain why it happens or and
179. 28:11neither can the scientists and that's one of the freaky things right so as these things get more sophisticated um
180. 28:19all sorts of stuff's gonna happen reindeer says Chachi PT lacks the ability to troubleshoot well it doesn't
181. 28:24it doesn't it's really good at finding bugs and code and fixing them um if it gives you something if it gives
182. 28:33you an answer you can tell it to analyze its own answer and tell you how it would improve it and it will get dramatically
183. 28:39better but it does not have built into it that those kinds of checks and balances it when it when it says when you say
184. 28:48um write me a legal brief and cite the cases that support that brief it will write a legal brief and cite cases and
185. 28:58very often the legal brief is very very good because law documents are very structured and GPT is fantastic it's structured documents
186. 29:09so it will probably write a really good legal brief but it will also likely make up all of the citations that support the
187. 29:17brief there was a there was a case about two weeks ago where a lawyer turned in a legal brief to a judge
188. 29:24and didn't check his work he had chat GPT right the brief and didn't check if the cases were real and they weren't and
189. 29:32the judge was like what the [ __ ] bud I don't think the Judge used that language but that was probably the intent
190. 29:40I don't know what's going on my hair but you know what are we going to do um so anyway yeah that kind of logic checking is not in it yet
191. 29:48over the next three years I'm sure there'll be entire Industries built on fact checking and all that sort of stuff
192. 29:56so don't dismiss the technology for what it is today um it it does hallucinate it does lie I like to call it mansplaining as a service
193. 30:07um because like a good man it will confidently give you an answer even if it's wrong all right is there any way to tell if an
194. 30:14image has been made in AI well um I don't think so I think the EU EU is talking about requiring um some sort of watermarking or some
195. 30:27sort of tagging with AI generated stuff here's the problem and this is the problem with writing and with images right now
196. 30:35so right now you've got these really distinct tools like you've got chat GPT which is at that address and you go to
197. 30:42chatpt to do your AI generated word stuff and then you go back to Microsoft Word to write right well Microsoft is rolling chat GPT
198. 30:53across office 365. it's going to be integrated in all of the office suite it's going to be integrated Bard is
199. 31:00going to be integrated in all of Google's office suite it's already in notion it's already in other things within Photoshop you've got Adobe
200. 31:07Firefly they've got this new feature called generative fill where you can take a photograph of like you know a
201. 31:13woman you know on a on a beach but with just a little bit of background behind her and you can make it a really wide
202. 31:19image and just tell it to fill in the beach and it will just fill in the beach so if 80 of that image is AI generated but 20 is the original
203. 31:32photograph but all of the AI generated is really just extending kind of the edges of the photo at what point is it AI generated at what
204. 31:43is it one pixel is it five pixels of original art that it has to be to be declared human if I've got Microsoft Word built into or
205. 31:54if I've got chat EBT built into Microsoft Word and I'm writing a letter and I get stuck on the second paragraph
206. 32:00and I'm like hey can you give me some ideas for how to professionally tell them to go [ __ ] themselves and it writes that
207. 32:07second paragraph is that AI generated or is that my letter that I just had a little leg up and how is that different
208. 32:13than a grammar check or a spell checker right so so I I think we we've gotten we've got a a short window where this
209. 32:24this idea of was it AI generated is an important thing I don't think long term it's important at all this used to be a thing in the
210. 32:32photography business right they would say well was this a digital image because if it's Digital Image that's not a photograph
211. 32:39until it was right it's going to be the same thing here so I don't think there's a way right now um there's if if you take the image
212. 32:48wholesale out of stable diffusion or wholesale out of uh mid during there's probably metadata or even the file name
213. 32:57might give you the prompt that was used to create it so there's probably metadata within the images but if you
214. 33:02took that image and pasted the pixels into Photoshop and and you know didn't retain all that metadata I don't think there's a way to tell
215. 33:11there's not a way to to reverse engineering because again it's not copying and pasting from other images it's literally
216. 33:19averaging like thousands of images as as pixely noised images and then denoising them and and creating an original image
217. 33:29every time you make an image um anyone else getting about echo echo oh getting an echo from me oh that sucks I hope not
218. 33:40just upgraded to chat GPT plus and loving it would you share your favorite plugins for productivity and business I am unfortunately
219. 33:50um the only ones I'm really using right now are web pilot and ask your PDF um popping like I'm I I do uh Twitter
220. 34:03threads for for a newsletter that I write and I'm using it to help me parse lots of documents long documents um
221. 34:14I'm trying to think what else is there let me go let me go look see if there's anything that I think is worth worth playing with
222. 34:26um there's a there's there's one called brand fetch which is kind of cool you can just say go go find me all the brand
223. 34:31elements for Pepsi and it'll just go it'll find like their colors and their logos and [ __ ] like that
224. 34:38um the thing about plugins right now is a lot of them are basically just little hooks into other people's websites
225. 34:45so so it's really easy to write a plug-in so I saw one the other day that was like um like copy rewriter and it's like put in
226. 34:54your website and we'll rewrite your web copy and then so I tried one and the first one I tried didn't work because
227. 35:00some of these things are just like you know made over a weekend by some guy in his mom's basement um and I tried another one that worked
228. 35:08it it rewroted these and I put in my company's website and it it kind of captured it and rewrote some nice things
229. 35:13in there but then the last paragraph Was you know if you want writing like this or or you know other things reach out to
230. 35:20our agency by clicking here so it's basically just a big ad for an agency which I thought was pretty clever
231. 35:27um so so ask your PDF is good brand fetch is interesting there's a bunch of them that are like chat with video you
232. 35:33can go chat you can go basically basically all it's doing is it's pulling the transcript out of YouTube and then
233. 35:41you're you're searching on the on the transcript uh so some of them don't work with long videos some do some don't um
234. 35:49there's one called diagram and another one called show me um which do like flow charting which are kind of interesting
235. 36:04um content rewriter is the one that that I use that that's basically an ad for an agency there's there's ml paper reader machine
236. 36:12learning paper reader um there's plug-in pedia which is you can go search for plugins I don't know why
237. 36:19you use it oh here's there's a good one there's a good one called prompt perfect here let me show you how that one works actually
238. 36:26what'd you do tonight I don't know I watched some guy try to remember what plugins he use what's plug-in I don't [ __ ] know all right
239. 36:33there's this thing called prompt perfect let me turn off these other things [Music] all right I'm gonna turn on prompt
240. 36:44perfect so the way prompt perfect works is if you don't have a way with the words if you're not flowery flowery with
241. 36:52the English you can type in the word perfect first and then your prompt um right me a poem about the sky right which is a
242. 37:02horrible prompt because it's so generic you're just going to get generic crap so because I write I wrote perfect

270. 40:49a whole list of that and then future PD is just a big giant directory of tools most of which are crap but many of which
271. 40:54are profound and eye meltingly powerful we are in a new era where the tools that we've all been given access to
272. 41:05are like nothing we've ever seen while Chachi PT looks like as simple as a Google search box it is a profoundly

284. 42:56like in mid-journey uh sort of so let me go show you what you can do and it's not perfect but there's there so
285. 43:07so there's a couple of different image generation tools there's stable diffusion and mid-journey are the two
286. 43:13most sophisticated ones those are the ones that are kind of the best and can do the best kind of stuff there's also
287. 43:18Adobe Firefly which if you're in a commercial business it's good because it wasn't trained on any copywritten images
288. 43:24so Adobe Firefly is good for commercial stuff if you want quality stable diffusion and mid journey in in my
289. 43:31opinion mid journey is by far the better tool but it's very much back and forth and and stable diffusion is much more
290. 43:40flexible and capable because it's open sourced and the whole developer Community is working on it mid journey
291. 43:45is just whatever they've done with their algorithm it's just better in stable in in stable diffusion there's
292. 43:51a thing called dream Booth where you can upload like 20 of your images and it will kind of learn your face and then
293. 43:57you can say you know Kyle Shannon face in you know a soccer match with Ronaldo and messy bodies and it'll do something
294. 44:06it'll probably make many disturbing things like that image right there was something if you see down at the bottom
295. 44:12here there's like my chin and my mouth and my little bit of my nose and then the big giant eye that was done in
296. 44:18stable diffusion with dream booth um if you go to uh Instagram or if you go to tick tock Kyle Shannon dreams
297. 44:27um you can see some of the images I made for that project um so there are ways to do it it's gonna get better but I'll show you one way
298. 44:35with stable diffusion that's pretty straightforward this is the uh this is the geeky part of the thing also if you've never used Discord
299. 44:44you're lucky but you have to use Discord to to do St to do mid Journey okay so what we're going to do is we're going
300. 44:53to go over to Discord so here I am in Discord let me explain a little bit about Discord so when you come to Discord you
301. 45:02have to you have to get an invite to a server so if you want to get the invite to the mid Journey server you go to midjourney.com and then
302. 45:10they'll say join the beta and it'll take you to to Discord down here these are your servers so these are think of these
303. 45:18as different communities and so I've got one here for like a group I'm in called Neo Tokyo and then I've got this is the Adobe beta group
304. 45:26and then this is a group that I started called the AI salon and um the link for that if you go to the
305. 45:33salon.ai that's that's my salon we meet bi-weekly um in person and online and then we have this Discord server where you can
306. 45:42actually play and so so these are the servers and then these are the channels within a server so I'm in the AI salon
307. 45:48and then these are all the different discussions so there's a general discussion and there's prompt crafting
308. 45:54and AI writing and images and and then there's this mid-journey channel so so the mid Journey Channel we can come over
309. 46:00here and we can make stuff so here Ali Ali from the community looks like she's doing some pattern stuff which is super cool
310. 46:09um and some super 80s Miami Vice looking Tron Tron mountains so that's cool so you can see stuff other people are working on but
311. 46:19so here's how you do it so I'm gonna go to my finder I'm on a Mac so finders where all my little files are and then I'm gonna search for
312. 46:32five one two because I have a folder full of images of my face oh that one's disturbing let's use that one
313. 46:48that one's good so what I'm doing is I'm dragging it from the finder into the mid Journey window and I'm hitting return
314. 46:56now why am I doing that because you have to okay so now that it's in Discord um I'm gonna right click it or on a Mac
315. 47:05control click it and I'm going to say copy link so now the way that you make an image with with mid Journeys you type slash imagine
316. 47:15and then it'll give you a prompt so I did Slash imagine and now I've got a prompt here and so I'm going to say I'm
317. 47:20the first thing well if if I just want to do an image I could do um Renault let's see um illustration well I will say we'll say painting
318. 47:34of Ronaldo scoring a goal and go in the World Cup
319. 47:49with stay um fans cheering and I don't know we'll just and then we'll just do dash dash AR which stands
320. 48:01for aspect ratio 16 colon 9 and you're asking but Kyle isn't this an image generation program shouldn't you be able
321. 48:08to just point and click on [ __ ] yes you should but we're early so you have to do command line stuff uh and if this is
322. 48:16intimidating just just wait there they'll come out with a web version here at some point but if you want the best
323. 48:22you have to put up with Discord right now okay so now notice what it's doing is it starts out with these really
324. 48:27blurry images and this is the way diffusion Works what it's basically done is it's taken my prompt figured out what are all the images that
325. 48:35might be related to that prompt in some way and then it kind of averages them together in noise in these noisy images
326. 48:42and then over a series series of 30 or 40 or 70 steps it denoises those random images all right so you can see that doing that
327. 48:53and and while it's doing that I'm going to do slash imagine and rather than just typing in a prompt I'm going to paste in that URL from my
328. 49:05picture before right so I uploaded the picture of me with the dorky smile on it then I right click to get the URL for
329. 49:13that image and so now now I'm starting with that as the first image and I'm going to take this exact prompt that I did to generate these
330. 49:24Ronaldo images copy and I'm going to do paste that after the um the URL of the picture of me and it should generate something that
331. 49:40kind of looks like one of these paintings but as my face on it so maybe it'll have glasses we'll see but there's Ronaldo those are actually
332. 49:49pretty good for for a really crappy prompt those are not bad this is uh mid Journey 5.2 which is that's pretty good stuff
333. 49:58that are pretty good stuff and then we can we can see how comically bad me and a soccer outfit's gonna be oh yeah I can
334. 50:08already see me in there look at the collar shirt oh yeah so this is the other thing you can do with AI is you can just entertain
335. 50:23the [ __ ] out of yourself by making just tragic tragic images of yourself it was funny when I'm doing the the stable
336. 50:30diffusion things for my art project there's certain prompts that I did just no matter what I did it made me like
337. 50:36this 450 pound gargantuan dude and then there were other times where it made me look like a movie star so you just gotta
338. 50:43you just gotta keep jerking around with the with the stuff so those are I mean those are actually interesting do they do they look
339. 50:51completely like me not completely but they're pretty you know they're at least in the neighborhood these could at least
340. 50:56be cousins like that guy looks pretty close that's got a little bit of me and it certainly got my hair right that doesn't

369. 55:41thing nice and it sort of understands the whole picture so it kind of understands that there's a guy standing in front of something
370. 55:49and so now I just selected the background and so now if we get one of these that actually has insects in it it could look like I'm scared so
371. 56:00anyway so that's another way to do it is with generative fill so you could you could take any old image and just kind
372. 56:05of replace the background this stuff is staggeringly powerful I can also do like like if uh let's see

394. 59:19someone made their work in AI I would I think you are I think it's the wrong question to ask quite frankly um you can just go Google um
395. 59:31chat GPT detector and I bet there's 8 000 of them out there and then but your students are going to be smart enough to use chat GPT detector
396. 59:43anti-detectors where they'll take what they wrote in chat gbt and have it Rewritten in another tool that is
397. 59:51designed to escape detection it's a it's a war that will never end and here's the deal Joey um these tools are not going away and
398. 1:00:03they're not going to be as separate as they are right now right now you've got Chachi VT over here you've got all this stuff over here
399. 1:00:09I would encourage you strongly to a get up to speed on them yourselves on yourself like like really understand
400. 1:00:17what they can do have them help you write lessons lesson plans come up with ideas for how to deal with unruly kids um um

403. 1:00:39heard of it called chat EBT they'll probably snicker and then um say what we're going to do today is we're going to have it write a paper so
404. 1:00:46instead of me assigning you a paper today we're going to write one in class today in about five minutes and just
405. 1:00:52have it write the paper and then send that all to them and say your homework for tonight is to read the paper that
406. 1:01:00Chachi PT wrote and come in tomorrow prepared to critique it what did it get right what did it get wrong um how would you have written it
407. 1:01:09differently did you like The Logical structure that it presented was it like the stuff I taught you before like like because
408. 1:01:18we are moving into a world where the Tactical execution of things like write the paper write the email write the the
409. 1:01:27the blog post the Tactical execution is going to be automated the part that remains and the part that actually becomes way more important is
410. 1:01:36critical thinking so if you can shift your students from oh cheept something I wink wink shouldn't use to check is a tool that's got
411. 1:01:47super powers and super flaws and I should understand the difference between them and I should understand what it's
412. 1:01:53good at and what it's bad at and how to interact with this thing in my life because it's going to be in their life
413. 1:01:59so that's that's my two cents I ain't a teacher I know that's completely antithetical to what a lot of
414. 1:02:06educational institutions are doing right now but if you want some backup the city of New York blocked chat GPT
415. 1:02:14they reversed that so they they have unblocked chat GPT because they realize this is coming if you go Google city of Boston
416. 1:02:25um generative AI guidelines the city of Boston their their Chief Information officer like a month ago released a set
417. 1:02:33of here's how you use generative AI here's what it's good at here's what it's bad at here's a here's a code of conduct
418. 1:02:42here are use cases and examples from the city of Boston so like I'd go grab that document and and kind of
419. 1:02:49internalize it maybe you do a version of that for your school or even just for your classroom um play with AI yourself and see how the
420. 1:02:56results turn out ask it questions you think your students will yeah that's good JK that's that's great great advice yeah
421. 1:03:04it's easy to tell once you've looked did I just get a lot did I just get booted to the bottom again wait
422. 1:03:13and it's easy to tell once you've looked at enough of their responses uh why don't you use a different search engine because
423. 1:03:23um I I flipped my default search engine to Bing because it has chat CBT built into it and and by the way
424. 1:03:31I am not I am I am a lifelong Microsoft Basher I have hated Microsoft for [ __ ] three and a half decades

427. 1:03:56in a long time so I'm just like I just sort of went all in I've got edges my default browser and Bing is my default search engine and if
428. 1:04:04if you had asked me six months ago like you know if you had bet me a lot of money that that would be the case today
429. 1:04:11I would have told you no I know I could use DuckDuckGo but I'm not now I'm I'm like search engines are done for me quite quite frankly like
430. 1:04:21once you've regular once you regularly incorporate chat gbt into your workflow I would say the amount of times
431. 1:04:33I go to Google versus chat gbt it's probably five percent of my searches it might be 10. but I'm doing almost everything in chat
432. 1:04:47EBT because almost everything I need is I just need a quick answer for something I need a quick idea for something
433. 1:04:52I need hey wasn't there wasn't there some event that happened in the 80s that involved this country and that country
434. 1:04:58oh yeah there here's the three things that happened great like I don't need to go search through all the [ __ ] it just gives me it
435. 1:05:05um so it's completely transformed how I think about search engines have it code something please okay this will be a fun
436. 1:05:10one I named my AI chat Hal that's [ __ ] awesome I'm sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do that that's [ __ ] awesome how to code
437. 1:05:20something please so so the coding something this was something that this this was my first big Epiphany with with chat gbt where
438. 1:05:28I had a similar Epiphany with Chachi BT that I did the first time I experienced the World Wide Web where with the web it was I published a
439. 1:05:39I published a an online magazine it was one of the first art and culture magazines on the web and three weeks
440. 1:05:45after I uploaded these files to some server in California there was a full-page article about my magazine
441. 1:05:51written in Paris in a Parisian newspaper and it it [ __ ] just melted my head I'm like holy [ __ ] the world just changed
442. 1:06:00um and and I had the exact same Epiphany with um chatgpt and and it kind of went like this so I was in
443. 1:06:08four didn't exist yet it was just chat CPD 3.5 so this is the free the free model so I went in and I said um write me a python
444. 1:06:20application that takes in three text inputs and uses those values
445. 1:06:36in an open AI um GPT 3 API call this is ultimately what I got to I didn't start with this
446. 1:06:52certainly here's an example of python script to do that so my my first example so what's it doing here um
447. 1:07:04combined input there's your response there's your inputs let's see did it set anything to open AI oh yeah text DaVinci 3 so there's the
448. 1:07:20open AI complete let's see and if I don't feel like parsing that I can say um Where do I modify
449. 1:07:37the open AI prompt in the code so it tells you where to do that so so it can write code it can read code it
450. 1:07:54can find bugs it can document code so if you've got code throw a chunk of it in there and ask it to explain it to you
451. 1:08:01and document it for you and if you need it documented in a particular format you know XML or you know Json or something
452. 1:08:09like that it'll do that too um yeah I I mean the the first time that that I experienced it coding I said I said
453. 1:08:19write me a python script that does something that takes an input I didn't I hadn't quite figured out the open AI API call yet and
454. 1:08:29so it generated the code and then I realized I haven't written code in like 30 years and like all I wrote really was
455. 1:08:37you know like HTML I didn't I didn't ever do any real real programming with ADHD coding ain't my thing
456. 1:08:43concepting is great the coding ain't me um so I wrote all this python code and I thought oh I don't know how to run
457. 1:08:51python code so I said to chat CBD can you help tell me how to run it and it said sure go to your terminal program
458. 1:08:58and type in this command line and I'm like oh no no no no I don't I don't want to do command line I'm that ain't me I
459. 1:09:04said is there a website it can run it on it said sure here's three and the first one it gave me was replit which is great and
460. 1:09:11it told me exactly what to do it said copy this Co code paste it into the left Pane and replied and hit the play button
461. 1:09:20and it'll run your code I'm like great so I copy the code paste it into replit hit the play button and it errors out
462. 1:09:27and so I copied the error and I pasted it back into chat GPD and I said give me this error and it said oh well you don't
463. 1:09:32have this Library installed and I'm like well obviously [ __ ] how do you install that Library oh and I said oh
464. 1:09:40go to the lower left hand corner of the page click on this button go to the upper right hand corner search for this
465. 1:09:45Library name click install and then hit the Run button I did that search for that installed that hit the Run button and it ran 90
466. 1:09:54minutes later I had written a complete fully functional python application that took inputs about a topic that someone
467. 1:10:02wrote and generated five pieces of social media content in 90 minutes while my wife was watching TV just sitting there kind of [ __ ] around
468. 1:10:09and that was when I had this realization like oh my God this thing this thing everything's different everything's different
469. 1:10:20and it's not you know people that understand and have been in machine learning and you know Ai and Engineering
470. 1:10:28for a long long time they're like well that thing's not really different than what we've had for the past you know year and a half with gpt3
471. 1:10:37except it is like like here's what's different when open AI on November 30th 2022 launched that website chat GPT
472. 1:10:50it went to a hundred million users in six weeks six weeks fastest adoption of technology and history
473. 1:10:59the World Wide Web in comparison it took six years to get to 100 million users chatgpt took six weeks six weeks
474. 1:11:07and those are not all machine learning scientists those are people like you and me I'm not I've got a degree in [ __ ]
475. 1:11:13acting now I've started a bunch of companies and I love technology and I love finding stuff like this and like diving in early
476. 1:11:20so so so I'm Tech capable but I ain't an engineer but November 30th is an inflection point where the road splits and on one side is

485. 1:12:44across a massive amount of data like that's I'm grossly oversimplifying it but it's kind of like a calculator
486. 1:12:53but is it is sufficiently Advanced to make it indistinguishable from Magic when you have it right python code like
487. 1:13:01I just did where it just you you describe a program and it just goes here's your program and with a little bit of tweaking it works
488. 1:13:12and you don't know a line of python the engineers will say whoa go to Google and you can go to this GitHub repository
489. 1:13:19and you can download it and you can watch 27 videos on YouTube and you know within a relatively short amount of time
490. 1:13:26you'll be able to code python in no time or you could just have it [ __ ] do it in an hour and you're done

507. 1:15:45about because here's here's why I just these kind of technological advances don't happen very often I mean they really don't
508. 1:15:57these are generational at best but they're they're they're like they're way more rare than that we happen to live in in a remarkable time
509. 1:16:05in history where depending on your age like the window that we've got we've got the invention of computers right in the in
510. 1:16:14the 40s and 50s we've got the invention of the personal computer in the 70s we've got the invention of the the
511. 1:16:22internet and the popular internet with the world wide web in the 90s and then I think you've got this you
512. 1:16:29could argue smartphones and social media but I I see them as kind of more more like you know a smartphone is like a
513. 1:16:35shrinking of the personal computer and social media is just like a smaller version of the World Wide Web it's just
514. 1:16:41like a more specific version of it so I I see those as kind of Sub sub categories of [ __ ] that came before generative AI to me
515. 1:16:49and and and and again not just machine learning but but the generative AI that's been given to the rest of us with things like mid-journey
516. 1:16:58and stable diffusion and chat gbt and Bard and Bing and all the other things anthropic where real human beings just normal
517. 1:17:07human beings get to play with these remarkably powerful toys tools feels like the equivalent of the steam engine
518. 1:17:17right it feels like Industrial Revolution scale change what was the one before that the printing press right that's hundreds of
519. 1:17:27years right so so you go from where we are now you go back to the steam engine then you before that you go to the
520. 1:17:32printing press then before you that you go to like I don't know written language or you know maybe Math and Science the scientific method
521. 1:17:42and then you know you got like [ __ ] you got like fire you know written language printing press um Industrial Revolution and like this
522. 1:17:54feels like one of the big ones so we're alive right now at the beginning of that November 30th 2022 for me in fact let me
523. 1:18:03show you something I did a speech for um what was it called um creative mornings here in Denver and my my sir the the slide that I built up
524. 1:18:16to was why can I escape out of that uh
525. 1:18:41it's not letting me escape out of it here it is
526. 1:18:57this was this was sort of my the image that I built to um November 30th 2022 I see as the beginning of what what I'm

539. 1:20:53limit message per three hours is that 25 separate inquiries or each prompt that you write I don't know I did a I did a session today
540. 1:21:06that definitely had more than three back and forths so I I don't know so so what thriving Sam was asking oh you're the one that
541. 1:21:17asked about messages before I know the definition of it I haven't really hit it I think if you're really hammering it
542. 1:21:24um you may hit that limit I've never hit that limit so so I honestly don't know like the way they describe it it sounds
543. 1:21:32like if you put in a prompt that's a message and that should be limited to 25 every three hours but I did a session today
544. 1:21:41I mean I must have done 40 or 50 back and forth with it and it was all in less than two hours so I don't know
545. 1:21:50um you can use it to take apart anything simply by adding the internet address yeah if you have the one connected to
546. 1:21:54the internet yeah you just put in the internet address if you don't have the one connected to the internet it can't
547. 1:21:58read URLs but with the one connected to the internet or with the one that is um web pilot I think it's because it's
548. 1:22:07called Web pilot something like that web pilot or Link Link Navigator I don't know there's a bunch of them in there
549. 1:22:13but yeah it's it's amazing that you can just point it to a URL and say go read that website or go read that PDF
550. 1:22:19document and tell me about it and that stuff's gonna get more and more powerful in fact I'll show you something there's

556. 1:23:08here's what goes on if you use chat GPT it's got what's called a four thousand token context window and there's a new version coming that's
557. 1:23:20going to be 32 and there's some versions of it right now that have 16 and some that have eight but let's just call it
558. 1:23:26four for now because most people have access to a 4 000 token context window well it's a context window oh and what are tokens
559. 1:23:35tokens are things that Geeks measure 4 000 tokens equals about three thousand words which humans use so the Geeks are
560. 1:23:47worried about token count the human beings are worried about word count so in the current chat GPT think of it like
561. 1:23:55this you've got this sliding 3000 word window where it's kind of got memory of all that so I could put in a 2500 word blog post and then say
562. 1:24:07summarize this for me and it'll respond with a summary of that and if that all fits Within three thousand words then I can keep
563. 1:24:16having a back and forth about that blog post and tell it to give me key takeaways and new ideas and things like
564. 1:24:22that but if you've ever used chat GPT there's a point at which it seems like it forgot what the [ __ ] we were talking
565. 1:24:29about like all of a sudden it will have forgotten the blog post and like it it's just like it'll just give you some
566. 1:24:36generic random answer that seems like it's answering you but you're like that's got nothing to do with what we
567. 1:24:41were talking about that's because whatever it needed to answer that question has blown out of the top of the context window
568. 1:24:48so the hundred thousand token context window you can play with it po.com means 75 000 words so you could put an entire
569. 1:24:56novel or entire screenplay and start interacting with it and it just [ __ ] reads it and it's like one of the things
570. 1:25:02these large language models are brilliant at is analyzing data like give it a screenplay and tell it to write you a log line and it will and
571. 1:25:10then tell it to give you a character breakdown and what happens to them and tell it to give you a plot breakdown and
572. 1:25:16what happens in scene one and what's the turning point and what's the midpoint and what's the [ __ ] Daniel Moi and it
573. 1:25:22will [ __ ] know it all so you can do that just you know there you can also do that if if you use the right plugin that can read long
574. 1:25:31documents you can do the same thing with plugins but but it's pretty magical to just I paste it in the entire screenplay
575. 1:25:38of 2001 the Space Odyssey um in into the the Claude hundred thousand thing and it just here's Dave here's this crewmate here's
576. 1:25:50how how here's what Hal said to Dave it's [ __ ] [ __ ] Wild I'm telling you we're living in magical times we're living in magical times how
577. 1:26:01about a mobile phone contract so on on my phone so open AI does have an iPhone not Android they do have an iPhone app

582. 1:26:50and it's like it's a simple website it's just an input box and an output thing so you go there and you pick do you want
583. 1:26:56chat gpt4 do you want plugins do you want this do you want that so I'll be doing my morning constitutional and I'm like I got an
584. 1:27:03idea let me write a new novel type it in hey chat GPT can you help me write a novel while I poo it will it does it's just insane
585. 1:27:22can I use AI to manipulate human brains well they're certainly reading them now have you seen that [ __ ] holy [ __ ] so
586. 1:27:30some of the cool brain stuff going on so they have now successfully they're using fmri scans they're they're
587. 1:27:37training they're pointing large language models at them to read the scans basically they've now had um chat gbt recreate images so people
588. 1:27:47look at an image they they read the brain scan and then recreate the image to the point at which you can tell what
589. 1:27:52it is they've done that now with video there's a guy in Italy that's paralyzed that they took an fmri of his brain when
590. 1:28:03he was thinking about moving his legs and they trained the large language model on that they said okay look at his
591. 1:28:09brain when he's thinking about moving his legs they then made a Bluetooth jumper from his brain signal to
592. 1:28:17electrodes in the part of his spine that were connected to his legs they they basically Bluetooth around the injury
593. 1:28:23and that guy's now walking so yeah they can read your brain you know if if you like if you want to if you want to if you're serious about
594. 1:28:39it go look at um go watch the videos of of uh Elon Musk doing uh presentations about neurolink so neurolink is is Elon musk's you know
595. 1:28:49electrodes in the brain technology that that by the way the FDA just cleared that for human trials like a month like six weeks ago
596. 1:28:57so yes so that's so are they going to manipulate the brain I think I think almost all of the initial
597. 1:29:04stuff is going to be things like medical things like like brain injury um you know neurological disorders things

606. 1:30:27I want you to help me write YouTube scripts you know on topics please give me 10 topics boom there will be your
607. 1:30:34topics okay give me a YouTube script boom there will be your YouTube script Now give me um the set of bullet points like rewrite
608. 1:30:42the script so it includes the visuals that I should put on screen when I'm talking and include bullet points and
609. 1:30:48descriptions of graphics and boom it will do it for you and then you can take the descriptions of graphics and go over

625. 1:33:27it'll mix and match Loops using Ai and then there's other things out there um that are actually doing AI music
626. 1:33:33generation and um Google came out with one and meta came out with one there's a bunch of them out there so I would go to that
627. 1:33:42uh website futurepedia.io there's other sites like it but that one's decent it's it's basically a directory of AI tools
628. 1:33:51and go to the music section and just start playing there's too many for me to keep up with anymore I the only things I'm actively
629. 1:33:59engaging with with AI tools right now are chat gbt and the pla the developer playground um bing.com occasionally poe.com if I want
630. 1:34:11to play with long documents um zapier to do automations and then for image generation I use mid Journey about
631. 1:34:1990 of the time and I'll occasionally jump over to stable diffusion if I want to do something really specific
632. 1:34:28um when it taught itself to answer a question in a different language I assume you're asking when did it do that
633. 1:34:34I don't know I mean they trained it on like all of the internet so like it learned like all of the languages and
634. 1:34:40most of the programming languages and most of the language languages and Google just announced some crazy ass translation technology that
635. 1:34:50now translates bi-directionally in 1100 languages I didn't know there were 1100 [ __ ] languages so and and the the thing to understand
636. 1:35:00is that we we are probably less than a year maybe two away from being able to talk in our native language on on like a zoom call and have
637. 1:35:16the person on the other side hear our voice speaking their language natively in real time I speak in English you hear it in French

662. 1:39:15doesn't know what it's doing the way large language models work they're just a calculator they're just a
663. 1:39:21word prediction model so when it types all that stuff the the miracle of large language models is that they do what they do because
664. 1:39:30what it's technically doing is just saying well what's the next most probable word and then now based on
665. 1:39:36everything I've seen so far what's the next most probable word and the next and the next and the next so when it writes
666. 1:39:42you that thousand word paragraph it's doing it one word at a time based on the context of everything that came before
667. 1:39:49which is [ __ ] mind-blowing but even though it looks like a human being's output it doesn't actually know what it just
668. 1:39:58said it just predicted a bunch of words mathematically it has no idea the context of what it said to you so
669. 1:40:07you say give me some citations it will just predict and give you citations and what it's doing is it's literally just kind of
670. 1:40:16doing some sort of amalgamation of all sorts of other citations that it's seen from you know ten thousand other
671. 1:40:23documents and sometimes it'll put in real ones and sometimes it won't and it doesn't know the difference so that's on
672. 1:40:29you especially if you're in a profession like Jose law where those citations are actually critical for a case then you
673. 1:40:37got to do your own proofreading won't be like that forever but that's how it is now any AI that can understand
674. 1:40:43video and turn it into say a meme yes in fact let's go let's go do that now we'll go play uh this is this is you know danger

781. 1:57:50scans your iris and it verifies that you're a human being and then upon that verification you get logged into the blockchain they give you
782. 1:58:00some cryptocurrency so I assume the cryptocurrency is how they're going to incent people to do it hey you'll get
783. 1:58:05free world coin and then and then you know I don't know the mechanisms beyond that but the the purpose of that is imagine a Twitter
784. 1:58:15where you knew you know at a technical level you could verify that the blue check mark didn't mean someone paid

789. 1:58:54was playing with a GPT I think it was an autonomous GPT that um got a human being to solve a captcha so it reached out to a human being
790. 1:59:07and said hey I need you to I need you I'm trying to get into this website I need you to solve this capture and the
791. 1:59:13human being even said are are you a bot and it lied and told him it wasn't he wasn't a bot it just like he had bad
792. 1:59:22eyesight and he just needed help getting in and the human solved the capture for him and he got in so that kind of stuff's coming

794. 1:59:40journey is the best now you have to play on you have to make images on Discord right now so not only do you need to learn the

798. 2:00:14quality standpoint mid-journey I'm a fan of that if you are geeky and you like lots of options stable diffusion
799. 2:00:24it's CL it's close in quality to Mid journey and they're they're kind of you know doing this with their with their
800. 2:00:29quality models but mid journey is still here the thing about stable diffusion is it's open source and the whole developer
801. 2:00:37Community is like piling all sorts of the like there's lots and lots of tools for stable diffusion so there's cool
802. 2:00:43[ __ ] you can do with it but you got to be pretty geeky the third major option is um Adobe Firefly and generative fill within Adobe
803. 2:00:53Photoshop and um the significant thing about Adobe Firefly is that they've trained their image models on
804. 2:01:03public domain and Adobe stock images that they own all the rights to so there's none of the sort of copyright
805. 2:01:09stuff that journey and stable diffusion have because they were trained on copywritten work there's there's going
806. 2:01:14to be lawsuits flying on that ship for years um so if you're using those tools I would recommend not using modern artists names
807. 2:01:24um just because in the prompt that that might get you in trouble or use Adobe Firefly use the Adobe products and then
808. 2:01:31Bing also if you go to bing.com create that's the dolly image engine and it's easy but it sucks dolly is the by far
809. 2:01:41the worst so in terms of quality it's it's mid-journey then stable diffusion then Adobe Firefly from quality
810. 2:01:49standpoint if you're in a commercial environment Adobe Firefly is really your only choice the Adobe products um and then
811. 2:01:59there's also a new tool that is worth getting on the wait list for it's called leonardo.ai it's a web front end on top of stable
812. 2:02:08diffusion and it's really [ __ ] good you can train your own images on it they have all sorts of preset models you

842. 2:06:05and then in any given session I can I can enable up to three of them so I've got a bunch of YouTube ones
843. 2:06:12that I just showed I'm going to turn those off and then I'm going to go turn on instacart so instacart is the little shopping site so
844. 2:06:25so I'll show you what this does and I'll talk a little bit about why I think plugins are going to be um incredibly powerful and in fact
845. 2:06:34um openai just added this thing called function calling to the API so developers can now kind of make their
846. 2:06:41own custom plugins just just using the API it's it's super interesting stuff anyway I'm going to say um I'm starting a diet
847. 2:06:54primary primarily eating root and stock vegetables

849. 2:07:24right meal plan for the next week um it can't bore me and it can't be expensive

864. 2:10:12what your preferences are and it will probably also have you've given it permission to things like your instacart account or your Expedia
865. 2:10:22account or your bank account or your whatever right so it will have access to things you've given it permission to and it will be
866. 2:10:30smart enough to know so what will happen in the future is you'll just kind of have some version of the everything app
867. 2:10:36and and in fact Elon Musk put out a video today so so Elon who who put 50 million or so into open Ai and
868. 2:10:47has since bolted and doesn't like the direction they're going started a competitor called X he put out a video today that that said um
869. 2:10:57it was basically a video um called the everything app and and so I've heard this term before the everything app is basically like you
870. 2:11:06just tell it what you want it will go figure out what plugins it needs and and in the end where it will go is it will figure out um
871. 2:11:16if there isn't a plug-in it will figure out which which apis it needs to call to specific data sets and if there isn't an
872. 2:11:25API it will write its own API and just connect with [ __ ] so so and that might be three or five years out but but
873. 2:11:35where these where these plugins get is they get very very transparent they sort of drift to the background and you just
874. 2:11:43have a simple interface and it might not even be typing and it probably will not be you go to chat.openai.com it will
875. 2:11:50probably be more like built into your operating system and or just hey Siri oh I shouldn't do that did it trigger it no it didn't
876. 2:12:02there you go when you say that um it'll you'll just say hey I need a meal plan for for next week for this kind of
877. 2:12:11diet and do you want me to go ahead and have that delivered within the next hour sure stuff's at your door

957. 2:24:21certainly help you block it out here's the thing about chat EBT think of it less like hey write me a best man
958. 2:24:28speech if you say write me a best man speech it will suck it will write you the most generic painful
959. 2:24:36horrific [ __ ] show of a best man speech in the history of best man speeches what chachi's GPT needs is context
960. 2:24:44so if you explain Who You Are who the the groom to be is the two or three funny story moments that you have
961. 2:24:58and that you want it to to be you know 10 minutes long start out with a joke you know start with this story go to that story and then have a
962. 2:25:14heartfelt moment at the end it'll probably do pretty good like my my ex so so it requires context so if you give it context yes
963. 2:25:25and what it will likely write will probably be eighty percent like what I find is that it consistently gets me to 80 like that
964. 2:25:34and then the 20 is just like [ __ ] it doesn't quite get and then I go in and fix it but it is so much easier
965. 2:25:42if you can get to 80 of your best man speech in an hour because it took you a while to type in the context
966. 2:25:49and you're like oh [ __ ] this is good and you're like oh I need it a little longer I need a little shorter it'll just do that
967. 2:25:55and then you can rewrite it and you can fix all the [ __ ] you want to fix then you can put that back into it and say
968. 2:26:02turn this into a series of flash cards so that I can print them out and put them on index cards it'll do that
969. 2:26:11you know make it a table I want this in an Excel sheet with all the [ __ ] in it you know give me a report of how many

994. 2:30:14um and I want you to update my resume do you understand and they'll say yes I understand and then it may even ask you
995. 2:30:20for okay give me your LinkedIn profile paste that in give me your old resume paste that in um tell it the kind of job you want
996. 2:30:28please write my resume out it'll come and again if it gets it wrong tell it it got it wrong tell it it's being a jerk

1013. 2:32:44that he's him and he's human and Czech and here's his world coin and then you know the the so why well
1014. 2:32:55wait till the 2024 election when all the Deep fakes get so good that it scares the [ __ ] out of everyone and you're like okay
1015. 2:33:06it was kind of scary in 2016. it was really scary in 2020. 2024 this can't go on my gut tells me that's gonna happen
1016. 2:33:18and we need to know that we've got some version of Twitter where you're interacting with human beings and not
1017. 2:33:24Bots like the cost of not knowing that that person is an authentic person or that piece of content is an authentic piece of content

1020. 2:33:49documents some for videos some for pictures this is verified human it was verified created by this person on this date and
1021. 2:33:59it has been verified not modified since its creation it's real right you remember when everyone was making fun of nfts
1022. 2:34:09in case them with money for a JPEG I could just right click it yeah but the blockchain says that's the one
1023. 2:34:19that's the original one that's the one that's owned by that person right so if I can now verify that that person is actually a person
1024. 2:34:28and I can verify that that person wrote that blog post and that that blog post hasn't been modified in any way or AI augmented in any way
1025. 2:34:37check screen check mark like the interface is going to be just like what we've seen before but we'll have some
1026. 2:34:43version of the check mark that is actually you can click on it and you can go see the whole blockchain history of
1027. 2:34:48the provenance of that piece of content and that's going to be important so that's what worldcoin's all about
1028. 2:34:56so the only thing that bugs me about chat GPT is it doesn't remember things very well it does not and and that will
1029. 2:35:02get better depending on how geeky you are crypto zombie or crypt zombie is um if you're geeky enough start go go play
1030. 2:35:10with a project called Lang chain um start getting involved with Lang chain and auto GPT and those sort of
1031. 2:35:15things so Lang chain you can train it on your own data and you can create a vector database where you can you can
1032. 2:35:21basically give it its own memory um right now the only memory it's got is the 3000 word or the 4000 token sliding
1033. 2:35:30context window if you want more than that go to po.com you have to you have to subscribe if you if you have the I
1034. 2:35:38think it's 20 subscription to Poe you get access to the hundred thousand token Claude model so it's 75 000 word
1035. 2:35:47context window so that will have way more memory than GPT will it's not as good but it'll have more memory and I I use that

1091. 2:44:13to figure this stuff out he's doing it from a marketing lens so he's doing it sort of not from a computer science
1092. 2:44:19point of view but from like a business point of view he's got a saying AI will not take your job but someone using AI will
1093. 2:44:28I think it is I think every single knowledge worker every single creative worker I think most jobs are going to be
1094. 2:44:36profoundly impacted profoundly impacted by AI I think what data analysts do is going to be essentially thrown out
1095. 2:44:45and reinvented I think what programmers and Engineers do is essentially going to be thrown out and reinvented I think
1096. 2:44:52what copywriters do illustrators do creative directors do project managers do I think every single job is going to be
1097. 2:45:03completely reinvented now does that mean that the people in those jobs lose their jobs not necessarily the people in those jobs that get
1098. 2:45:13curious about this [ __ ] and get AI literate are going to be safer than the ones that don't which ones are going to be displaced
1099. 2:45:24which ones are going to be upskilled that I don't know different companies are going to handle this differently
1100. 2:45:29some are going to be like private Equity [ __ ] and they're going to be like oh a 30 productivity game fire 30 of the
1101. 2:45:38staff that's going to happen absolutely and that's going to be the [ __ ] that makes headlines right
1102. 2:45:43there's going to be other companies that go oh 30 productivity gains let's upskill all of our workers so we can
1103. 2:45:50turn that 30 into 60 and let's go get 60 percent more client revenue or let's deliver 60 higher quality for the same
1104. 2:45:58price or if we're this much more efficient let's cut our prices so that our clients don't have to pay as much but we can still deliver more
1105. 2:46:07so there's going to be there's so right now here's the way I see it at a macro level and this is dramatically oversimplified
1106. 2:46:15I've got an acting degree not an economics degree but right now we have the output of the world or of our country or of your state
1107. 2:46:29and you've got the amount of time and people it takes to do that output and those are relatively equal right now
1108. 2:46:35what generative AI is going to do is it's gonna it's gonna do this to the productivity so there's going to be an increasing Gap
1109. 2:46:45between how much time people need to spend and what's being output so either productivity stays the same and we need less people to do it
1110. 2:46:53or we have the same people doing it and productivity goes up but that Gap is the thing that's going to be painful um
1111. 2:47:02so right now is the time to get curious about this stuff and learn it like right now not you don't have three years this stuff is here
1112. 2:47:13it's going to be if you haven't played with chat EVT Microsoft has already announced that chatgpt is going to be
1113. 2:47:19built into office 365. it's already in Slack uh Salesforce just announced 10 new AI tools it's already a notion Google has
1114. 2:47:29announced that Bard's going to be in all of office all of their Office Products it's going to be ubiquitous it's going to be everywhere
1115. 2:47:36the people and companies that are AI literate are going to get preferential treatment they just are so and it like

1137. 2:50:32wouldn't worry about that what I would worry about is write a good [ __ ] novel don't just have it write a novel
1138. 2:50:38and then just like publish that like have a clue of what you want to write like figure out how do you want to write have you
1139. 2:50:47already written a novel where you can copy in some of your existing work and say I want it written in this style
1140. 2:50:52do you have favorite authors that you wanted to mimic the plot lines of or or structure or Cadence of dialogue
1141. 2:51:02and then have it write you an outline and then work on that outline and make it better and then have it write you a first
1142. 2:51:09have it write you 30 first live opening lines of the novel and then of those 30 two will be interesting
1143. 2:51:18tell it which two were interesting and have it write you 30 more and then take the two best of those and then have it write you 30 more
1144. 2:51:25and then when you finally have the best opening line of a novel you've you could have ever imagined then have it write
1145. 2:51:30the first paragraph right so everything that I've done with generative AI has been some collaborative back and forth with the
1146. 2:51:39tool think of it less like this tool is going to write a novel and more like you're writing a novel with the most
1147. 2:51:46capable writing partner you've ever [ __ ] had in your life but you're the author not the AI you're the author what's it about why is it
1148. 2:51:57about who's going to read it why would they give a [ __ ] if you can't answer those questions it's going to be a shitty novel even like AI
1149. 2:52:04can't write it can't write good [ __ ] in a vacuum it can only write good [ __ ] in context of what you give it
1150. 2:52:14so if you give it [ __ ] you're gonna get [ __ ] and then it doesn't matter if an AI detector can detect it or not all it's
1151. 2:52:21going to detect is that it was AI written [ __ ] but if you write something really good and some percentage of it was AI generated

1169. 2:55:09connected to specific pieces of the internet this is a way to think about it you won't see these automatically if you
1170. 2:55:17just pay for the Plus subscription you have to go into your settings and you have to go to Beta features right here
1171. 2:55:25and you have to turn them on so you have to turn on browse with Bing you have to turn on plugins okay that's how you make
1172. 2:55:32them available now what the hell are plugins and how the hell do they make my life better you go to chat GPT you go to the plugins thing
1173. 2:55:43and then you get this little drop down menu and it you can see two little icons here that means I have two plugins activated
1174. 2:55:50in any given search session you can activate up to three plugins I have two turned on right now so I'm going to turn them off um
1175. 2:56:02turn that one off okay and now all these ones in this long list are ones that I've installed so they're
1176. 2:56:10installed basically in my chat GPT but they're not activated if I want to go get new ones I go to the bottom and I go to this plug-in store
1177. 2:56:20and there are that many pages of four so there's 141 pages of four so that's 280 564. there's 564 plug-ins right now this is going up
1178. 2:56:35like you know every day there's another dozen or so or 50 whatever there's lots of them uh and then you basically you can search
1179. 2:56:44for things so if you want to do something on Research let me do research um it will bring up all the plugins that

1181. 2:57:07here's equity research here's machine learning research right so so you can you can dig through there and find them

1189. 2:58:47my prompt and understand it and then it will go look at its prompts and say is there anything in my prompts that
1190. 2:58:55can answer that better than I can and in this case it says yes and it fired off experiences and then it fired
1191. 2:59:03off get your guide and you can open these and see what they're doing so it said family activities in Ibiza Spain October 1st English
1192. 2:59:16Max price 100 euros right so it put in some and then it got an error from that so apparently experiences wasn't working
1193. 2:59:24then it used get your guide it said there are no specific family friendly activities available in Ibiza for your date and budget you poor

1259. 3:10:21where the value is she's still working right now um but is that going to change over the next three years yeah it's going to
1260. 3:10:29change pretty profoundly and I'll you know the only thing she knows is she'll be doing something leveraging her experience and her eye
1261. 3:10:39and her creative curation skills and her refinement skills and her project management skills and her client
1262. 3:10:46interaction skills like all of that stuff still stays what changes is the Tactical execution of it so people are going to have to adapt for

1282. 3:13:50make me a poem about rats and out we'll come and pump about rats great okay this is an application sitting on top of the open AI
1283. 3:14:07apis um and and the large language models GPT 3.5 and gpt4 so how you how they built this and how you would build your own application is
1284. 3:14:18you use their apis the playground is where developers can go to play with with all the different models for chat
1285. 3:14:25GPT or for open AI so you go to platform dot openai.com playground and then what you get is a little bit of
1286. 3:14:41instruction here you've got documentation you've got API references up here if you if you really want to
1287. 3:14:46geek out but this main window here is is basically like a chat GPT window but there's there's different modes and
1288. 3:14:54there's different sort of flips and switches you can play with over here you can also do things like save preset
1289. 3:15:01prompts and things like that so it's similar in that you could say right let's see right knee a poem about rats
1290. 3:15:14and then if I hit the submit button down here it'll write me a poem about rats but I can go over here and I can start
1291. 3:15:23playing with things like temperature so temperature is if I if I turn it to zero it's more precise and less creative if I turn it
1292. 3:15:35up it used to only go to one now it goes to two this this is like spinal tap going to 11. temperature now goes to two that's super exciting
1293. 3:15:43um so so two means more creative right so so it looks like they're now defaulting it to one they used to
1294. 3:15:49default it to 0.7 but whatever that's so so this is basically less creative more creative then you have different models
1295. 3:15:56and and it explains you know some models are better for um code and some are better for writing and then you've got different modes like
1296. 3:16:06chat mode where you now have not only the window where you chat but you also have this system message which is you
1297. 3:16:13know act like your William Shakespeare and when someone asks you something only respond in iambic pentameter or so so
1298. 3:16:21you're basically telling the chat bot how to act this is essentially how they wrote chat GPT was they've got a system
1299. 3:16:30message that's telling chat T to be helpful and give answers however it does what it does and then when you interact with it it's following
1300. 3:16:40that system message and so there's lots of different models there there's um I don't have access to gpt4 yet in
1301. 3:16:49the in the playground but these are all 3.5 models so there's a bunch of different ones so the playground is just a place where you go
1302. 3:16:56Um can sort of fine tune and modify your prompts when you're developing an application so I'm getting crispy my voice is like

1312. 3:18:27the mid Journey so if you haven't used mid Journey you have to do it within Discord so I'm in Discord I'm in the AI
1313. 3:18:32Salon server I'm in our mid Journey Channel you can also do this in the mid Journey server what happens is this okay so so these were some
1314. 3:18:43um some images I created earlier with a um a bot from poe.com that rewrote a crappy mid-journey prompt and made it
1315. 3:18:54better so I took this mid-journey prompt from the pobot and it generated these four Images so I'm gonna pick one of these
1316. 3:19:02I think we'll get this thing that looks somewhere between a Corvette and an AMC Javelin and a Camaro I think we'll take
1317. 3:19:11that one and we'll blow it up so what happens is this so I got the car here if you haven't played with mid-journey
1318. 3:19:18you've got once you generate an image it gives you four options and then you've got U1 through four and V one through
1319. 3:19:26four so V means variation u means upscale and then you can just re-roll them if you don't like anything
1320. 3:19:32but I like two one two three four so I'm going to do generally what I'll do is if I see something I like I'll say give me
1321. 3:19:39variations of that one so I'll hit V2 and and generally go pretty quick it should pop up here shortly
1322. 3:19:57if you haven't seen mid Journey or any of these uh image generation tools work notice how it starts out as these really
1323. 3:20:04blurry images and then they just slowly get they come more and more into Focus that's actually how they work they start
1324. 3:20:11with sort of fully randomized noise where they've averaged together like thousands of images into a single random
1325. 3:20:18noise image and then they just denoise it over like 50 or 70 steps so so you kind of see it coming into Focus it's
1326. 3:20:28literally generating an original image you know from kind of a sea of pixels that it's it's got mathematically dumped into a pile basically
1327. 3:20:40like like it's it's almost like the more you understand about how these things work the more remarkable it is
1328. 3:20:48what the output is like it's just it's astounding to me that somebody figured out how to make these machines do what they do okay so
1329. 3:21:00let's pick I like the rust on that one but I think this one's the coolest one so so four is the coolest one okay so
1330. 3:21:08now I'm going to say upscale for so this happens really really quick so there's my there's my upscaled image now
1331. 3:21:18it's it's really tight on the car here and I don't really see a lot of the factory it would be kind of cool to see
1332. 3:21:24more of the factory so you now have these new options zoom out 2x zoom out 1.5 X custom Zoom where you can change the aspect ratio
1333. 3:21:33um and make Square so I'm going to do zoom out 2X and so what that'll do is that'll push the car into the distance and
1334. 3:21:42it will basically take my same prompt and basically just push back on it and I think it gives us four different options
1335. 3:21:51and we'll do it we'll do another thing so that's that zoom out with with no custom options but I can also do a custom Zoom so I'm gonna put
1336. 3:22:01um let's make this we'll change the aspect ratio so I'll go two to one so I'm going to make it really wide two to one we'll do zoom two
1337. 3:22:18yeah we'll just we'll we'll leave we'll leave the prompt the same I'll just change the aspect ratio and see if that does anything different
1338. 3:22:26and so now this is at 46 but you can see we see a lot more of the factory around each of the cars here we can see like the the
1339. 3:22:37like here we just see a little bit of the reflection of just the tire and now we see the reflection of the
1340. 3:22:43whole car this one it looks like it added another car in here so I don't like that car so I I like this
1341. 3:22:58upper right one let's see oh that's my two to ones okay so we're gonna do wait where did they go
1342. 3:23:14oh here we go so I'm gonna upscale I'm gonna upscale that one so there's your zoomed out you know version compared to the zoomed in
1343. 3:23:31version right so what's cool about zoom out is stable diffusion has this and Adobe has this and Adobe called it
1344. 3:23:41generative fill and stable diffusion and all the others called it out painting and nobody knows what the [ __ ] out
1345. 3:23:48painting means means generative fill makes sense within the Adobe tool Suite because photographer you know people
1346. 3:23:54using Photoshop know what Phil is and Smart Fill and things like that so that makes sense but zoom out is is like it's
1347. 3:24:02a perfect name for it right because you were zoomed in right you were here and you're like I just like to zoom out and
