Description
In this lively and multifaceted discussion, Kyle Shannon delves into the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, creativity, and the implications for various industries. He reflects on his personal journey with AI tools, sharing insights on how these innovations can enhance creativity rather than hinder it. Kyle passionately argues that the future will see a shift in the value of expertise, where generalists may become more sought after than specialists due to the democratization of knowledge through AI. The conversation also touches on the role of AI in artistic expression, the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing world, and the potential for new business opportunities in leveraging AI technologies. As Kyle navigates through humorous anecdotes and thought-provoking commentary, he invites his audience to embrace the transformative power of AI and engage in a collaborative learning process.

10:39 evening all all the ice melted because 10:41 you know it's hot here and I poured hot 10:44 tea over 10:44 [Laughter] 10:48 ice all right welcome everybody my 10:51 name's Kyle Shannon this is the AI 10:52 learning lab you know what we do here we 10:54 learn we lab we lab around this is the 10:57 lab 11:00 not a lot of not a lot of 11:01 experimentation going on in this 11:03 particular 11:05 lab so now it's just T it is just 11:10 T great name whoever just came in with 11:13 what the [ __ ] is going on here love the 11:17 [Music] 11:26 name we can only type it out so many 11:30 ways to pronounce it for 11:35 you I'm still going with Studio not 11:38 [Laughter] 11:40 audio and wait if you went with audio it 11:43 wouldn't be udio either it would be 11:47 audio I don't know man it's got to be 11:52 udio I'm going to I'm going to reach out 11:54 to people this is not this is not going 11:56 to stand I'm going to we're going to get 11:57 the official pronunciation here here's 11:59 the deal I will go get the official 12:01 pronunciation and here's what I will 12:03 promise 12:04 you if the official pronunciation is 12:09 udio I will trumpet it from the highest 12:13 Cliffs if the official pronunciation is 12:16 udio I will never [ __ ] tell you that 12:19 and I will keep pronouncing it udio all 12:21 right so I make that promise to you 12:23 because kind of man I 12:28 am and 12:36 yeah all 12:43 right oh by the way not for 12:47 nothing this is exciting for me 12:52 anyway this is one of those it doesn't 12:55 [ __ ] matter to to most people I got 12:57 into the private Alpha 13:00 of the 13:01 showrunner um TV production the thing 13:05 that makes the South Park episodes I got 13:07 into the private alpha or the yeah the 13:09 private Alpha I can't I asked if I could 13:13 show it on here I 13:18 can't but I was also I also so I got on 13:21 the call there was a call welcoming the 13:23 new 13:25 people and the guy Edward who who runs 13:28 the joint he's like I want to meet 13:30 everyone there were like 60 people on 13:32 the call so the first half hour was 13:34 introductions and then I had to get on 13:36 another call so I have no idea what the 13:38 [ __ ] they said but I signed up for it so 13:40 anyway I'll be telling you if that 13:42 thing's cool or 13:44 [Music] 13:54 not that's got to be annoying to you 13:56 listening sorry about that there's a 13:59 there 14:00 there's sometimes this Channel's like 14:02 ASMR and sometimes it's like ah honey 14:04 could you put the kids to bed 14:07 [Music] 14:12 please 14:15 um I saw a tweet today that I thought 14:17 was kind of 14:20 interesting well a couple of them one is 14:22 I've been a little cranky about Tik Tok 14:24 where just like engagement is down 14:26 overall so it's kind of dissuaded me 14:28 from making content 14:30 I mean I still do these things cuz y'all 14:32 are [ __ ] awesome 14:35 um but someone made a really good point 14:38 that um NBC has probably bought up you 14:42 know a third of your 4u page for the 14:45 Olympics and then the other third is 14:48 probably paid political advertising 14:51 right for all the [ __ ] [ __ ] we see 14:54 because of the presidential election so 14:56 we're probably down to about a third of 14:58 our time oh oh and then a third yeah so 15:00 you got a third Olympics a third is uh 15:04 political stuff and then a third is 15:06 [ __ ] Madagascar vanilla beans so so 15:10 what's left there's like there's like 15:12 two slots left in any hourlong Tik Tock 15:15 scroll that are your actual content so I 15:18 guess I'll just chill out and shut the 15:20 [ __ ] 15:22 up ah oops auto click 10,000 Hearts I 15:26 didn't know you could you can auto click 15:28 10,000 hearts 15:30 good Lord I'm a trusted tester on a 15:33 company's text to image and on the text 15:36 to video weight list oh cool oh that was 15:39 it's funny Joker that that you say that 15:42 because that was the other tweet that I 15:43 thought was really interesting I saw 15:45 today was it it was one of those 15:47 hypotheticals where it's like okay so 15:49 you're paying for a 15:51 Runway so so you make images with Runway 15:55 using mid Journey images and you make 15:57 images with cling using mid Journey 15:59 images and you make or you make videos 16:01 you make videos with Runway using mid 16:04 Journey images and you make videos with 16:06 cing using mid-journey images right so 16:08 making this argument you're like the 16:10 common denominator here is mid-journey 16:11 images and basically what he said was I 16:14 think it was Nick St Pierre who who 16:15 might be a creative director there he's 16:17 somehow connected with them but he 16:19 basically said when mid Journey comes 16:22 out with image to video are you going to 16:24 keep subscribed to all that other [ __ ] 16:27 cuz you know mid Journey's video is 16:29 going to be [ __ ] kick ass it going to 16:33 be crazy it going to be crazy 16:36 people 16:38 so cucko it's 16:43 cagus all right what are we going to do 16:46 tonight I got a drink so I was at a 16:47 little CEO Suare 16:50 tonight more and more people are talking 16:52 openly about AI which is 16:57 interesting before they like you do AI 17:00 yeah that's that's fascinating yeah yeah 17:03 as soon as you said political a learn 17:05 more about us elections popped up on the 17:06 screen [ __ ] Christ I just you 17:11 know I AI swell except when it's used 17:16 for stupid [ __ ] like that left Arrow 17:18 challenge make a left arrow in Dolly 3 17:22 okay all right I on China 17:26 fine challenge me that I can't make a 17:29 left arrow in [ __ ] chat JP dude you 17:34 how dare you 17:35 sir all right okay let's see now that I 17:40 know it's a challenge I know I know 17:41 there's something [ __ ] up about it so 17:43 we're going to assume that ion shine is 17:45 right haha nobody can do it Kyle it's a 17:51 trap okay 17:54 um you are 17:57 a street 18:04 sign 18:07 designer and I want 18:11 you to 18:14 make a 18:17 series 18:19 of green 18:22 signs 18:24 with white I found this on the hey Siri 18:28 uh go away 18:32 okay what is she doing why does Siri 18:35 show up make a series of green 18:39 signs with white 18:43 arrows rep 18:46 resenting north south east and 18:52 west okay I think I got it 19:00 please make one image 19:05 for each 19:12 Direction all 19:14 right I'm guessing this is going to be 19:17 [Laughter] 19:20 North did it do 19:22 it oh well that's 19:26 bad that's not North that's 19:29 confusing that's 19:39 s okay 19:43 point point the West 19:49 Arrow the other 19:53 direction oh boy yeah this is this is 19:58 janky is is janky does embrace the Jank 20:01 embrace the 20:04 Jank West 20:06 [Laughter] 20:11 corrected the arrow on the 20:17 sign should 20:20 point the 20:23 opposite 20:24 of right 20:27 [Laughter] 20:36 oh I did it look I did 20:52 it duh did 20:55 it could why you know how I did it it 20:59 cuz I'm a [ __ ] Super 21:01 Genius look at that it's completely 21:04 pointing left he said it couldn't make a 21:06 arrow go into the left thanks to Kyle 21:09 and Irregulars for making chat GPD 21:11 easier you're welcome ocean thank you 21:13 for um um thank you for the 21:16 acknowledgement uh we haven't done chat 21:18 GPT in a while 21:20 but I I have completely solved the left 21:23 Arrow 21:25 dilemma with uh 21:29 ugly man sees 21:32 23,700 I see 21:36 9,000 I don't know how this [ __ ] 21:40 Works got 36,000 21:44 followers I don't 21:46 know well 21:50 whatever now here's the thing none of 21:52 them were why why can it not mid Journey 21:55 also 21:59 why can they not make left arrows that 22:01 doesn't make any [ __ ] sense at 22:03 all are there no left arrows in in the 22:07 image Zeitgeist let's let's go to Google 22:10 here this there's a way we can test this 22:12 we're going to go to Google we're going 22:13 to type in 22:15 left 22:18 Arrow 22:23 sign yeah 22:25 there's there's plenty of left arrows in 22:28 the in the data 22:31 set what the [ __ ] is with 22:35 that I don't believe I can't believe mid 22:38 Journey can't do this 22:55 um a road that Forks 23:00 just 23:02 ahead and in the 23:06 center of the 23:09 Y are two 23:15 signs one with an arrow pointing right 23:19 and one with an arrow pointing left 23:22 period the signs are green and the 23:25 arrows on the sign are 23:27 white and 23:29 and there is a large 23:34 semi 23:37 truck in the distance on the right 23:42 Road and there was a new electric 23:45 Volkswagen 23:47 bus heading toward the camera on the 23:50 left Road 23:54 period all 23:56 right let's see what we got there ugly 23:58 man just did it ah but it gave me a 24:01 downloadable file I even asked for a 24:04 mirror image but got it got it going the 24:06 other way I got left arrows on Mid 24:12 Journey this is 24:15 stupid I got it in one try archetypal 24:18 architect show 24:22 off see I just cheat I just cheat I'm 24:25 good at like oh it doesn't do it [ __ ] it 24:27 take it to photoshop 24:30 this is here there's a lesson here 24:31 people you don't always have to use AI 24:34 if AI is sucking don't use 24:41 it why is mid Journey so slow 24:50 tonight semi-truck you mean aor I got a 24:54 left Arrow 24:59 a take that you people you with your 25:03 conspiracy 25:09 theories and look what I look what else 25:11 I 25:12 got left Arrow left Arrow right arrow 25:17 down arrow I've got all of the arrows in 25:19 one 25:23 sign oh man I need more tape my tape on 25:27 the back of my little blackout 25:31 augmentation here is not good all 25:35 right go to Irregulars okay let me go to 25:38 Irregulars let me see what's going on in 25:40 Irregulars Irregulars hello Irregulars 25:44 what's happening people hey there what's 25:47 happening all right arrow sign pointing 25:50 to the 25:51 left arrow on street sign pointing to 25:54 the left chaos 100 Dr J nailed it 25:59 archetypal architect boom three out of 26:04 four with one just ascending to Heaven I 26:07 love that 26:10 look 26:11 H I had some sort of 26:14 Greek Feast at the uh this dinner I was 26:19 at tonight and I ate too much so I got 26:23 hiccups so you're going to have to deal 26:24 with that it's just it's not going to be 26:26 good who did this steo nail in the left 26:29 Arrow there we go look at that joker 26:34 boom summer Subway 26:38 smell the smell you won't forget that's 26:41 pretty good I like 26:43 it reservation Kyle Shannon 900m oh 26:46 that's nice who did that Amelio's wife 26:48 that's very sweet very sweet all right 26:53 oh that's nice oh that's a good one 26:56 Joker I dig it 27:01 okay let's what do we want to do I used 27:05 a very complicated prompt a left 27:10 Arrow that's the thing this was the 27:12 thing that HT snow snowday figured out 27:16 is that 27:19 um the the people who didn't know how to 27:23 program computers did better with large 27:26 language models in a in a a a AI game 27:32 creation contest the people that didn't 27:34 know anything about building software 27:37 did better than the people that knew how 27:38 to build software which is 27:43 fascinating because the people who 27:45 didn't know how to build software s chat 27:48 GPT or Claude make me a game that does X 27:51 and the people that did know how to 27:53 software tried to describe the 27:55 functionality of the objects on screen 27:59 similar to how they would program them 28:02 and it confused the [ __ ] out of the 28:03 large language model I think that's 28:05 absolutely fascinating and and what that 28:08 what that points to to me is we're 28:10 moving into an era where everything's 28:14 going to get all Topsy Turvy every like 28:16 where the P where the centers of Power 28:18 are now because people have specialty 28:22 skills are going to be upended where 28:25 people who have generalist skills are 28:26 going to be better at these large 28:28 language models than the Specialists 28:30 it's going to be wild it's going to be 28:32 wild wild wild wild wild but it almost 28:35 never works in GPT using Dolly 3 that's 28:37 just absolutely bizarre developers 28:39 probably tried to make it do sequential 28:41 steps exactly Joy pie they the the 28:44 programmers had the burden of knowing 28:47 how to 28:48 program the project managers and the 28:51 customer service reps were free of the 28:53 burden of 28:55 knowledge and so they just said make me 28:58 game that does 29:01 this and and it 29:03 did tried to log into hey Jen but it 29:06 kept giving me network eror error 29:08 messages anyone have the same thing H 29:11 yen.com let me go 29:15 check H 29:21 yen.com that's there for me 29:33 hi there my name is Jennifer I'm in my 29:36 mid-30s you really are I work as a 29:38 marketing manager for a tech company and 29:40 I absolutely love my job do you it keeps 29:43 me on my toes and allows me to be 29:44 creative every day is this authentic but 29:47 today you talk about something a bit 29:49 more personal my journey with bipolar 29:51 disorder when I was first diagnosed with 29:53 bipolar disorder that was a test I was 29:55 working on for old Story vine for some 29:58 Persona 30:00 action crazy crazy [ __ ] 30:03 coming 30:06 um all right what are we going to talk 30:08 about tonight what do you think the 30:10 biggest opportunity in AI will be moving 30:14 forward 30:17 H I just made that face that sketch 30:23 makes Hey Brother Hey Brother 30:30 [Laughter] 30:33 uh Hey 30:38 Brother um what do I think is going to 30:41 be the biggest opportunity AI 30:45 presents holy 30:49 [ __ ] 30:51 okay 30:56 well there's there's a couple of 30:58 different 31:00 Lanes there's a lane where you're a 31:03 software 31:05 developer 31:07 and the opportunity is in creating some 31:10 novel piece of software that mixes and 31:14 matches AI functionality in a unique and 31:18 interesting way that's one 31:21 lane there's another 31:27 Lane which is is 31:29 the clever application of generative AI 31:34 to completely 31:36 disrupt an 31:41 industry I think the software 31:44 Lane is probably the most the more 31:47 exciting 31:49 one but it's the one that's got the 31:51 highest 31:53 risk because the software one if you 31:56 build a piece of software 31:59 using open ai's API for example you run 32:04 the very real risk that open AI will 32:07 just turn your software into a feature 32:10 or these models are going to get so 32:13 capable that whatever your software is 32:15 someone else can just replicate it like 32:17 that we're not there yet but you know 32:19 give it three years so there's a there's 32:21 a risk right if it takes you a year and 32:23 a half to spin up a software company You 32:26 could argue you could do it faster but 32:28 let's just say you want to actually get 32:31 customers I think you I think there's a 32:34 bigger risk 32:36 there on the on the disrupt how an 32:40 industry 32:41 Works believe it or not Jim Ross is kind 32:45 of heading down that lane where he's 32:51 not there's nothing that Jim is doing 33:07 I'm just trying to be careful with my 33:08 words there there are things that are 33:10 Jim that Jim's doing that that 33:12 are innovating but he he's still 33:15 basically teaching people how to 33:18 manage storage 33:21 facilities right and how you manage a 33:24 storage facility is largely physical 33:26 right there's there's leases and there's 33:29 payments and there's there's all the 33:30 money stuff and and there's there's 33:32 going to be some um some Innovations 33:36 in a lot of the the operations piece of 33:39 it but where Jim is innovating is Jim is 33:42 innovating with things like marketing 33:45 and customer acquisition and um creating 33:49 content and creating testimonials and 33:51 create just doing things like 33:55 like Jim is essentially turning from 33:59 from a 34:01 person that can because he's 34:04 productive Jim has the output of 1.5 34:09 normal humans right just without any 34:11 special tools and with AI Jim's got the 34:14 output of like 10 34:16 humans and because he's doing it 34:19 consistently and he shows up every 34:20 morning and he's like I'm going to put 34:21 in an hour every single morning using AI 34:25 to benefit my business he doesn't know 34:27 what that looks like like each morning 34:29 but he's just doing that like he brushes 34:31 his [ __ ] teeth he puts in the hour of 34:34 AI and so he's he's innovating 34:40 by 34:49 injecting like a completely new way of 34:51 thinking about what's possible for how 34:55 you Market a business 34:58 and so he's in the Self Storage business 35:00 so he's going to kill it there but like 35:01 every single micro business every single 35:05 sector every single micro business 35:08 someone's going to be able to come into 35:09 that sector that really understands it 35:12 and if they come in and they're the 35:13 first one to embrace AI they're going to 35:16 figure out all sorts of [ __ ] to do there 35:18 where the competition's going to be 35:20 looking at them like how the [ __ ] are 35:22 they doing that I what's 35:26 happening so so for me I it's like the 35:30 applied you the creative application of 35:34 AI tools to a business you know really 35:37 well or a category you know really well 35:40 I feel like that's where the biggest 35:42 opportunity 35:43 is because the tech space is going to be 35:47 full of competition right all the 35:49 engineers want to create the next open 35:50 AI or the next perplexity or the next 35:53 mid Journey right there's all sorts of 35:55 competition over here there's you 35:59 know 10 million 36:02 more non-sexy businesses out 36:05 there that are just waiting to be 36:09 reinvented so I think I think there's 36:11 massive opportunity in in practical 36:15 application of AI on how a business does 36:19 what it 36:21 does some of that may include software 36:24 you may make some software you may make 36:26 gpts whatever 36:28 so I don't 36:32 know I think there's all sorts of 36:34 support um Technologies where there 36:37 there could be um like one we talked 36:41 about the other night was licensing 36:45 likenesses so who's going to be the 36:48 William Morris if you don't know William 36:49 Morris they're like the you know 36:52 creative artist agency CA the big 36:55 Hollywood talent agencies 36:59 have an opportunity right now to 37:02 dramatically 37:04 alter what talent representation 37:09 means right now like what what CAA 37:12 innovated with with David 37:15 Ovitz was a thing called 37:18 packaging and packaging 37:20 was we've got a bunch of clients we've 37:22 got actor clients and we've got 37:24 cinematographer clients and we've got 37:26 director clients and we got producer 37:27 clients 37:29 and one of our actor clients happens to 37:31 be Tom 37:33 Cruz oh you want Tom Cruz in your movie 37:37 well okay great awesome not only will 37:39 that be $50 37:41 million but you also have to use this 37:44 director this cinematographer and these 37:46 three producers or you don't get Tommy 37:50 Boy so that that Innovation happened in 37:53 the late 80s and early 37:55 90s and it changed Hollywood 37:59 There's an opportunity right now in my 38:02 opinion to not sign the Tom crues of the 38:06 world but to sign the Kyle Shannon of 38:09 the world and the Jim Rosses of the 38:10 world and 38:13 the Bob Smiths of the world like just 38:18 anyone 38:22 because we're going to need to start 38:24 getting compensated for our likenesses 38:28 because they're going to be so easy 38:31 to replicate 38:33 and if someone likes what I do here on 38:35 the Tik Tock or if someone likes what 38:38 you did on a zoom call at work they can 38:40 turn that into a video Avatar and put 38:42 out in the world and make money off it 38:45 and you'll never see a penny of it 38:48 unless maybe you were signed by 38:53 caa's low-level Talent division 38:59 the digital twin division taught my son 39:02 to create mid-journey images for Google 39:04 business profile updates Biz idea for 39:06 something shoot I missed the end of that 39:10 oh Biz idea for 16-year-old there you go 39:13 create mid-journey image oh oh that's 39:15 perfect Jim Ross has a 16-year-old kid 39:18 kid's like I don't know what to do Dad 39:20 should I go mod La he's like no you know 39:22 what you should do here's mid Journey 39:24 here's my 39:26 license go find local businesses and 39:29 make them images for their Google 39:31 profiles and charge them whatever 20 39:34 bucks a piece 25 bucks a piece 50 bucks 39:36 a piece whatever it might 39:39 be oh I could do that yeah you could do 39:42 that so yeah exactly so so like little 39:47 like that the big the big opportunity 39:50 feels like little 39:52 Innovations or use it to learn and 39:54 disrupt something that you don't know 39:56 yeah that that's another way to do it 40:00 that someone's going to come 40:03 into a profession like accounting well 40:07 let's let's not do accounting because 40:08 they've got there's all sorts of 40:09 regulations there someone's going to 40:11 come into I don't 40:14 know a 40:17 marketing 40:21 area and they're going to use chat 40:25 GPT and some of these other tools to 40:27 come up with with some entirely new way 40:29 of marketing 40:32 something not because they were a 40:36 marketer but because they were a 40:41 janitor but they got curious about 40:43 marketing one night and they learned 40:45 about it and they thought huh and the 40:47 way they think about the world is 40:49 through the lens of 30 years of janitor 40:53 brain and so how they're going to do 40:56 marketing 40:58 will very likely seem 41:00 foreign and 41:02 bizarre to 30 years of marketing brain 41:05 you got janitor brain here marketing 41:08 brain here so marketing brain's going to 41:11 look at Ai and they're going to go I 41:12 know how to use AI for marketing and 41:14 they're going to filter it through their 41:15 marketing brain and then over here 41:18 janitor 41:20 guy is going to be like I'm looking 41:22 through Mark you know through learning 41:24 about marketing through this brain and 41:26 they're going to do something completely 41:28 off thewall and 41:29 weird and marketing guys are going to 41:31 make fun of janitor guy that's a that's 41:35 the dumbest thing I've ever seen I got 41:37 30 years in the business uh trust me I 41:39 know what I'm doing with this marketing 41:40 stuff and before you know it janitor 41:43 guys going to have one of the most 41:45 popular campaigns in all of the 41:47 land and everyone's going to be going to 41:49 janitor guys agency going could you do 41:51 marketing for us that's 41:54 [Laughter] 41:56 awesome so the cross-pollination of of 42:03 disciplines where people that have 30 42:05 years of experience in one thing are 42:07 literally just going to jump entire 42:09 professions like parallel ones or like 42:12 really tangential ones I think that's a 42:15 big opportunity I don't know man [ __ ] 42:19 cool at what point do actual likenesses 42:23 not mean 42:24 anything yeah that's another Point old 42:27 oak design 42:28 so I I here's the 42:31 thing it's a really good point the 42:34 actors went on strike a year ago because 42:37 they were like hey producers don't you 42:40 know what producers wanted to do was 42:43 they wanted to hire 42:45 actors that would come 42:48 in and they would pay them a day rate of 42:54 $200 and they would film them like 360 42:57 and then they would pay them 42:58 $200 and then the producers wanted to 43:01 own that likeness for all of eternity 43:05 for all uses in the 43:07 universe and this was one of the things 43:09 they struck over and when they were 43:11 striking over it what went immediately 43:15 through my head is what you just asked 43:16 which is okay well at least in the 43:19 producers proposal some amount of people 43:22 get $200 because you know a year or two 43:26 from now not even a year or two from now 43:28 mid Journey right now can make people 43:31 that don't exist at all that are 43:34 absolutely fine to turn into an avatar 43:36 right and 43:38 and we saw yesterday we were playing 43:41 with the or we were watching videos of 43:43 the new realtime voice model from chat 43:46 GPT you're going to be able to 43:49 take a hyper realistic perfect 43:53 casting person that doesn't exist and 43:56 have them talk words in 44:00 video as if it were an actor and so no 44:02 actor will be hired for that particular 44:04 role so it's a it's a really good 44:07 point but what's what's a fascinating 44:10 thing is that 44:12 [Music] 44:13 any 44:15 musician 44:17 actor P TV personality wrestler right 44:21 any anyone in the sort of cultural 44:24 Zeitgeist right now 44:28 are going to 44:31 have I 44:33 think kind of they're like they're the 44:36 last 44:39 generation where where where people will 44:43 know who they are enough to want to 44:45 interact with their 44:47 Avatar but in the future the the 44:50 characters of the people that we kind of 44:52 fall in love with they may not even 44:54 exist 44:56 ever so like the next Tom Cruz could end 44:59 up being 45:01 some actor that never existed and it 45:04 probably won't come from Hollywood it 45:05 will probably come from some janitor the 45:08 equivalent of a janitor or literally a 45:10 janitor who decided to make a film and 45:14 because of his bizarre worldview made a 45:17 film with a character that was just 45:19 [ __ ] weird and everyone else looked 45:21 at it and said that's weird and then the 45:23 world said we love that character 45:28 and maybe that actor ain't an actor 45:31 maybe that actor never existed so I 45:33 think it's it's a fascinating Point 45:36 anyway old oak design company great 45:40 question tapping on mobile it's really 45:43 funny how we thought AI would come for 45:45 regular jobs and it really attacked 45:47 artists huh yeah I don't you know listen 45:49 I don't I don't know that it it attacked 45:51 artists I think what it's what it's 45:53 attacking is the current tasks that 45:56 artists do I do not believe 46:00 that humans will ever not be artistic 46:03 and creative and 46:05 self-expressive I think I think 46:07 self-expression and and the 46:10 imperative to contribute to the world 46:13 and to other people and to have an 46:16 impact on people I don't think that 46:17 imperative ever goes away I think how we 46:21 do it is changing 46:24 radically and so current artists today 46:29 are reacting like Farmers reacted when 46:32 the steam powered tractor showed up on 46:34 their 46:36 Farm Well it can't take the job of the 46:40 the 46:41 Clydesdales maybe the little horses but 46:43 not the Clydesdale oh [ __ ] it's got how 46:47 many 46:49 horsepower there's 16 horsepower in that 46:53 thing well it makes a lot of noise who 46:56 would want to use it anyway 46:58 way right don't take our acting jobs 47:02 don't let AI write 47:07 screenplays I I understand how [ __ ] 47:12 terrifying it 47:15 is but what's going to happen is 47:18 storytellers are 47:20 storytellers and there's going to be 47:22 storytellers that are masterful at 47:25 today's tools 47:27 that are going to ignore 47:30 Ai and they're going to get obliterated 47:33 and that breaks my [ __ ] 47:35 heart and it's kind of why this channel 47:38 exists because it is my hope that those 47:41 storytellers oh thank you very much 47:43 those storytellers that are really good 47:45 at today's 47:46 tools say you know what [ __ ] it maybe I 47:49 should learn this AI maybe I'll go in 47:51 this AI learning lab thing and have a 47:53 Kevin mallister moment or 47:56 two and then they'll slowly start to get 47:58 AI literate and what what they will do 48:01 is they will take their storytelling 48:02 skills and they'll look at these new 48:04 tools and they'll go oh [ __ ] I know how 48:07 to tell a story with these 48:09 tools and they're going to start 48:11 creating incredible works of 48:14 art so you're going to have Master 48:17 storytellers that get left behind you're 48:20 going to have Master storytellers that 48:22 adapt and continue to be Master 48:25 storytellers with new tools 48:28 and then you're going to have Master 48:30 storytellers that come out of [ __ ] 48:35 nowhere what what do you mean she taught 48:38 third grade 48:42 English she she did that she made 48:46 that but she didn't have to blow someone 48:50 on Ventura Boulevard in the back of 48:54 their BS 48:57 doesn't make any sense to me she can't 49:00 be in 49:01 Hollywood she's been nominated for 49:05 what what was the budget on 49:09 that3 $20 subscriptions 49:13 [Laughter] 49:18 what so so there will be new artists 49:22 emerge some artists Will Survive and and 49:25 many artists are going to get their 49:26 asses handed to them because they're 49:31 judging they're judging a thing this is 49:35 I talk about this a lot 49:40 like if you lived in Florida and you 49:43 were a 49:44 politician 49:47 say and season after season your state 49:51 gets obliterated with these [ __ ] 49:54 hurricanes and it pisses people off 49:57 and it and the insurance companies are 50:00 not insuring 50:03 anyone you might be very well 50:06 tempted to pass some laws declaring 50:10 hurricanes are now 50:12 illegal these hurricanes are awful 50:15 they're 50:17 destructive and we've passed a law 50:19 people of Florida you're 50:23 safe the people in Florida are like cool 50:26 well what's that cloud over 50:30 there don't mind that we've got 50:34 laws so this shit's coming whether you 50:38 like it or not whether you think it's 50:39 plagiarism or not whether you think it's 50:41 stealing or not whether you think 50:44 it's it's going to turn creative people 50:46 uncreative because it's 50:48 creative independent of your opinion of 50:51 it it's coming so My Philosophy is why 50:56 not know what's coming 50:58 at a 50:59 minimum know what's coming know what 51:02 you're competing 51:07 against and maybe just maybe you'll have 51:11 a Kevin McAllister moment or two where 51:12 you're like holy [ __ ] this is so 51:15 inspiring I always wanted to make my own 51:17 soundtracks for a movie but I had to 51:19 hire Hans [ __ ] 51:21 Zimmer who came with the packaging thing 51:24 from CA 51:25 [Laughter] 51:28 we had to get Tom Cruz in our movie so I 51:30 had to hire Han simmer to do the 51:33 soundtrack now I can just make one 51:37 cool so we'll see I don't know I don't 51:39 know I don't know I got no answers for 51:42 you just 51:44 hypothetical 51:45 meanderings this 51:47 is thickheaded 51:52 Thursday I don't think they think deeply 51:54 enough to judge anything they're just 51:56 resistance to change that's but that's 51:58 the thing hair growth geek I mean I mean 52:00 change is scary 52:03 and and massive change is really scary 52:10 and I think that I think that ai ai is 52:14 fighting an uphill battle right 52:16 now largely because of Hollywood where 52:20 you 52:21 know most of the world has been told 52:24 that the AI is going to kill us the Bots 52:25 are going to kill us 52:30 and so when you say AI a lot of people 52:33 are afraid of it or they think they've 52:34 got to be technical to use 52:36 it or they heard that it was shitty or 52:39 they heard that it plateaued I had two 52:41 different people tonight go hey what do 52:43 you think of this AI thing it's what you 52:46 think it's still you were excited about 52:48 it a year ago do you where are you today 52:50 you're you're still excited about it 52:52 uh-huh uh-huh and and then did you and 52:56 uh is it is it the chat GPT that's you 52:59 like the chat uhhuh uhhuh yeah yeah and 53:01 then and but do you so here's do you 53:04 think it's going to get any better 53:05 because I you know I I heard it it it 53:07 has it has it kind of plateaued has it 53:10 kind of plateaued right so the narrative 53:12 is out there from [ __ ] Gary Marcus 53:15 and [ __ ] pin heads like that that are 53:18 like you know it's never going to get 53:19 better AI is never going to get 53:24 better oh and so 53:27 and so people are like well okay if it's 53:29 not good now and it's plateaued and the 53:31 hype is over then I don't have to deal 53:33 with it right so I'll just I'll just go 53:35 I'm just going to go have another uh I'm 53:38 going to have a bourbon mule I like the 53:39 bourbon mule they put the lime in it it 53:41 but I don't know why it's in that copper 53:43 cup the copper cup it gets so cold you 53:46 know what I mean I'm going to go get one 53:47 of those so hey good luck with that AI 53:49 stuff you do I that it I apparently it's 53:53 plateaued so hey you know I don't know 53:56 why you put in so so much time on Tik 53:57 Tok but anyway good for 54:00 you I got that that that was essentially 54:02 what I got 54:08 tonight and these like this event I was 54:11 at these are entrepreneur 54:18 CEOs in a room of about 40 CEOs 54:23 tonight I would say 54:28 five to 54:30 seven are doing you know are leaning 54:33 heavy into maybe it's closer to 54:36 10 it was closer to 10 but like 25% of 54:41 the 54:42 room is doing anything substantial with 54:45 with 54:46 AI these are these are startup 54:50 CEOs not CEOs of like you know Fidelity 54:55 startup CEOs 54:57 that number should be way 54:59 higher I got a puzzle piece people I'm 55:03 going to lose my [ __ ] all right I did 55:10 it what's your thoughts about quality 55:13 and experts with 55:14 GPT will we lose 55:18 value and well-qualified 55:21 folks what's your thoughts about quality 55:23 and experts with 55:25 GPT I don't don't quite know what you 55:28 mean re askk that question ocean I like 55:31 I think I know what you mean but I'm not 55:33 quite sure do you mean do you mean is 55:36 chat GPT going to replace subject matter 55:40 experts and and are we going to lose 55:43 people because of 55:46 them 55:48 well I mean 55:51 that's if you can reframe the question 55:53 that'd be cool um 55:57 just just so I know exactly what you're 56:02 asking in inherent in your question 56:07 is is a negative framing of what AI is 56:10 going to do so so I think what your 56:13 question said is is is AI going to get 56:15 good enough that we're going to lose our 56:17 experts that the experts are going to go 56:18 away 56:27 the 56:28 experts the current experts are are 56:32 going to be in 56:34 competition with everyone else in the 56:36 company that now has chat 56:39 GPT so you know the when they have 56:42 greater than PhD level intelligence I 56:44 think they mean yeah well so so here's 56:47 here's the thing ocean here's here's the 56:49 thing about the 56:51 question yes I 56:54 think reasoning 56:57 large language models are going to 56:59 displace current subject matter 57:03 experts but what it's going to also do 57:07 is 57:08 democratize that level of expertise to 57:11 everyone in the 57:12 company so rather you know how you have 57:15 that one douchebag in the in the 57:18 analysis Department that's just like 57:21 only knows one thing he studied he got 57:23 his bachelor's in it and then he got his 57:26 master's in it then he got his PhD in it 57:28 and then he went straight from his PhD 57:31 into the professional workplace and then 57:33 he worked his way up the ladder and now 57:34 he runs the the strategy division for 57:38 the analytics thing for the one [ __ ] 57:40 thing he does and he's in sufferable and 57:44 all he talks about is that one 57:46 thing but if you need an expert with 57:50 that one thing you go to that 57:53 douchebag yeah well here's here's what 57:57 happened in the in the uh the struggle 57:59 between 58:00 Mesopotamia and the lower right you know 58:03 like 58:10 he's now everyone in the company will 58:13 have access to someone as expert as that 58:17 guy at every 58:21 subject so yes that guy will probably 58:24 get his ass handed to him 58:27 but everyone else gets leveled 58:30 up and there was a there was an 58:32 interesting Ethan mik one of the early 58:34 research uh papers that Ethan mullik uh 58:37 published or 58:39 shared showed that in in an organization 58:43 that adopts 58:45 AI the the a 58:48 players increased in capability like 58:51 nine 58:52 points but the c-level players so you 58:55 got your a players they went up a little 58:57 bit your your C Level players went up 59:01 like 40 maybe it wasn't 40% but it was 59:05 significantly higher maybe 24% 30% 59:08 something like that these guys went up 59:10 N9 these guys went up 20 or something 59:12 like that so the the the lower 59:16 performing people improve more so 59:18 basically all boats go up but the the 59:21 lower performing people go up 59:23 more so I think that's the that's the 59:26 the silver lining of of your 59:30 question Ethan mik it's uh e eth an m o 59:35 l l i 59:38 k then they can create their own better 59:40 Ai and it will be exponential yeah well 59:42 that's that's the thing we we just we 59:45 haven't seen the exponential growth yet 59:47 we we haven't hit the we haven't hit the 59:49 exponential curve we don't have a 59:50 [ __ ] clue what's coming um any 59:53 thoughts on AI having ADHD um 59:57 I'll tell you what having ADHD is a 59:59 [ __ ] 1:00:00 superpower um with 1:00:02 AI it just 1:00:05 is there there's parts of it like like 1:00:10 all alwayss brains function you know 1:00:13 there's things that suck about it like 1:00:14 my ability to organize [ __ ] is is 1:00:17 horrible but my ability to just quickly 1:00:20 jump from concept to concept and execute 1:00:24 on them is off the 1:00:29 charts is it's the new you won't have a 1:00:32 calculator with you everywhere you go 1:00:34 yeah exactly that's exactly right they 1:00:37 train smmes exactly like that June Mary 1:00:40 do 1:00:41 they just we're going to go to the 1:00:43 bachelor's then we're going to go to the 1:00:45 Masters then we're go to the PHD then 1:00:47 we're going to go to the consulting 1:00:49 [Laughter] 1:00:52 firm that's why those guys are so hard 1:00:55 to talk to they don't know what there's 1:00:56 nothing else in their head they're like 1:00:58 their [ __ ] knowledge channels this 1:01:02 narrow why should we go to school if we 1:01:05 have GPT why should I go to a lawyer if 1:01:07 I can get a 1:01:09 qualified qualified answers it's a great 1:01:12 [ __ ] 1:01:14 question 1:01:19 um the real answer to why go to school 1:01:22 is to meet 1:01:24 people and to establish Trust usted 1:01:26 relationships and to establish networks 1:01:30 in my 1:01:31 opinion 1:01:33 um what you learn in school is going to 1:01:36 be increasingly 1:01:38 insignificant how you learn to 1:01:41 work how you learn to socialize how you 1:01:44 learn to play 1:01:46 politics how you learn 1:01:49 to lead how you learn to motivate others 1:01:53 I think that's why you go to school 1:01:58 um if the schools are 1:02:01 smart they start teaching toward 1:02:03 aptitudes rather than 1:02:05 skills the problem is we've 1:02:08 got whatever it is 1:02:12 150 160 1:02:14 years of schools that are designed to 1:02:19 produce Factory 1:02:23 workers memorize this [ __ ] do this [ __ ] 1:02:26 show up on time don't question the 1:02:29 teacher we'll spank your ass if you're 1:02:31 out of 1:02:33 line 1:02:36 right and higher ed follows along we're 1:02:40 going to teach you this we're going to 1:02:41 teach you this you're going to 1:02:42 specialize and all you liberal arts 1:02:45 pansies you go do your [ __ ] flower 1:02:47 good luck with that Philosophy 1:02:49 degree we'll be over here specializing 1:02:52 making all the 1:02:54 money that whole game is is about to be 1:02:56 flipped upside 1:03:01 down I've said this in here before but I 1:03:04 find this 1:03:07 astounding the Chief Operating Officer 1:03:10 not the chief marketing officer not the 1:03:12 chief touchy feely empathy officer the 1:03:16 Chief Operating Officer from Black 1:03:20 Rock You Know Black Rock the ones that 1:03:23 own the world and control 1:03:27 everything that guy the 1:03:32 COO said that his next hires are liberal 1:03:36 arts 1:03:42 analysts not Engineers not mbas liberal 1:03:47 arts analysts why is 1:03:52 that because chat gbt is a generalist 1:03:55 tool 1:03:56 liberal arts maor majors are 1:04:00 generalists they look across 1:04:03 disciplines they synthesize from 1:04:07 everywhere like say an llm 1:04:12 does and as the llms get better to 1:04:15 better at the 1:04:16 specialty tools or or activities 1:04:20 tasks we're going to need more and more 1:04:23 people that can look across the tasks 1:04:25 and say What's the the big idea here let 1:04:28 me take my critical thinking skills and 1:04:30 apply that to all these robots that can 1:04:32 do all this work for 1:04:36 me this is we are living in Revenge of 1:04:39 the LI liberal arts major we're in the 1:04:41 beginning of this the the iceberg have 1:04:44 you seen those cool videos where 1:04:45 icebergs flip and like the the [ __ ] that 1:04:49 was down deep comes up and it's that 1:04:51 dark brilliant [ __ ] blue color like 1:04:53 those Halloween blue candies when they 1:04:57 flip that's the liberal arts Majors 1:04:59 coming up and all the Specialists going 1:05:01 to be going 1:05:04 K it's the new you yeah I got that one 1:05:11 already Sir Ken Robinson lectures I 1:05:14 don't know Sir Ken Robinson I am not an 1:05:17 academic I have a degree in 1:05:24 acting the COO of Black Rock will will 1:05:27 always need a doctor who has Hands-On 1:05:30 healthc care 1:05:31 experience yeah listen I listen I don't 1:05:34 think Specialists goes go go away but I 1:05:36 think the 1:05:38 penalty I think the premium that 1:05:40 Specialists get today and the penalty 1:05:43 that generalists get today are about to 1:05:46 flip we'll still need Specialists they 1:05:49 just won't be in in as much demand as 1:05:51 the generalists will so supply and 1:05:53 demand if we need more generalists the 1:05:55 value of generalist goes up and all the 1:05:58 Specialists are like why isn't anyone 1:05:59 hiring me I do this one thing better 1:06:02 than anyone else yeah but now everyone 1:06:05 can do that one thing at like 80% of 1:06:08 your level and that's 1:06:10 fine like that's what employers are 1:06:12 going to 1:06:14 say this is so very much appreciated the 1:06:17 guidance you provide oh thank you very 1:06:18 much I appreciate that precious Dei Demi 1:06:22 thank you so 1:06:24 much um 1:06:27 here's the other caveat to all the [ __ ] 1:06:29 that I'm saying I could be completely 1:06:32 dead ass [ __ ] 1:06:34 [Laughter] 1:06:39 wrong I'm just trying to look at here 1:06:42 here's the way I here's the way I try to 1:06:44 look at this stuff I look at the tools 1:06:47 as they are 1:06:48 today and I make a couple of 1:06:51 assumptions one of the assumptions I 1:06:53 make is that technology will keep 1:06:57 advancing how do I know that cuz it 1:06:59 always [ __ ] 1:07:01 has or America we're going to make it 1:07:04 better let's invest trillions of dollars 1:07:07 and get all our entrepreneurs on it 1:07:10 woohoo middle out compression let's go 1:07:13 let's 1:07:15 go so that's one of them is that 1:07:17 technology is just going to get better 1:07:19 here's the other assumption I make AI is 1:07:21 not going away this is not a hype bubble 1:07:25 in my opinion the hype hasn't even 1:07:27 begun you can't have a hype bubble when 1:07:31 most people in America just because 1:07:34 that's where I am that's my point of 1:07:35 reference when most people in America 1:07:38 don't even know what this generative AI 1:07:40 [ __ ] is 47% of people haven't even heard 1:07:44 of 1:07:45 it you can't be in a hype bubble when 1:07:48 50% of the country doesn't even know 1:07:50 what the [ __ ] it 1:07:53 is so the other assumption I make is 1:07:55 it's not going 1:07:59 away and then what I tried to do is look 1:08:01 at okay if I look at the tech the way it 1:08:04 is today 1:08:07 janky 1:08:09 disjointed all sorts of [ __ ] up 1:08:11 everyone it's just like you can't keep 1:08:14 up with it right I try to keep up with 1:08:16 it in here I can't keep up with it none 1:08:18 of us 1:08:20 can and just assume it gets 1:08:26 one time 1:08:29 better imagine if the video tools were 1:08:32 one time better than they are 1:08:34 now and the large language models are 1:08:37 one time better than they are now like 1:08:38 the jump we had from gpt3 to GPT 4 we 1:08:43 have a similar jump from gp4 to GPT 5 1:08:46 one time that's not assuming an 1:08:49 exponential increase in capability just 1:08:52 a pure linear 1:08:56 One One X over a 1:09:01 year if you essentially double the 1:09:03 capability that we all have in our hands 1:09:05 today in one year what's going to be 1:09:08 possible well a lot and then let's 1:09:11 assume it gets two times better in a 1:09:13 year and then let's assume it gets five 1:09:15 times better in a year and then let's 1:09:17 assume it gets 10 times better in a year 1:09:26 have you played with 1:09:28 grock not the Twitter grock go to 1:09:31 gro.com gq.com 1:09:40 so 1:09:41 this grock is fast AI inference you're 1:09:45 like what the [ __ ] does that mean 1:09:48 inference is when you give it a prompt 1:09:50 and it answers you so this is not 1:09:53 training this is just on the inference 1:09:56 we're using the the new llama 3 uh model 1:10:00 but I'm going to switch this to 1:10:02 3.1 3.1 1:10:07 instant and then I'm going to say 1:10:23 um make me a table comparing the top 1:10:29 10 1:10:32 major conflicts in 1:10:39 history it's done um let's see conflict 1:10:44 death to duration uh 1:10:47 outcome 1:10:50 um major Powers involved let's go uh 1:10:53 let's see um 1:10:58 put the countries 1:11:00 first and the death toll 1:11:04 last boom 1:11:10 done 1:11:12 so loc oh it didn't move location first 1:11:15 it moved it let's see 1:11:21 um um 1:11:26 add a column 1:11:31 for top three 1:11:34 Heroes boom top three Heroes Winston 1:11:39 Churchill Joseph Stalin George Patton 1:11:42 for World War 1:11:44 II I 1:11:46 mean this is essentially 1:11:49 instant instant creation instant editing 1:11:53 um let's go to claw. 1:11:57 if you haven't played with claw. I'm 1:11:58 going to show you something called 1:12:05 artifacts I was talking to a young woman 1:12:07 tonight she's a a freshman at the 1:12:09 University of 1:12:11 Wisconsin she's the CEO of a new company 1:12:13 she's got a technical co-founder but 1:12:15 she's got ideas for interface I said 1:12:17 well you go to grock and you could just 1:12:18 have it make interfaces for you and you 1:12:21 can just experiment with Cod so I can I 1:12:23 can come in here and I can say make me a 1:12:26 clone of the classic 1:12:28 Frogger arcade 1:12:35 game generating so this now starts 1:12:38 writing the code for a Frogger 1:12:42 game which if you've never seen these 1:12:44 things code before you should be saying 1:12:47 well holy [ __ ] but I'm sure it doesn't 1:12:49 run I'm sure it's not going to work 1:12:53 well here we go let's see 1:13:03 okay I died so and then I can go in here 1:13:05 and 1:13:06 say 1:13:10 um make the street street colored make 1:13:13 the street street colored and the water 1:13:16 watercolored and make the Frog seem more 1:13:19 like a 1:13:20 frog and make the cars look more like 1:13:23 cars period also add sound effects and 1:13:34 scoring I didn't learn no fancy computer 1:13:39 language I just talked with my 1:13:43 words you know the word 1:13:50 Abracadabra as I speak I create if you 1:13:54 translate the word abrac abbra it 1:13:57 translates roughly into as I speak I 1:14:04 create that's where we're going there's 1:14:06 Frogger now we have a Frogger looking 1:14:09 dude we have a 1:14:20 score yay 1:14:26 two prompts functional video game I can 1:14:29 now publish 1:14:32 this that button says 1:14:35 publish imagine if I spent 10 minutes on 1:14:40 that imagine if this was one time 1:14:44 better 100% better than it is 1:14:48 now how good would this game 1:14:53 be enjoy seeing attorneys in my company 1:14:55 Kevin mallister over the chat gping and 1:14:58 summarize the fine print and contracts 1:15:01 yeah 1:15:03 exactly haven't tried Claude Sonet 3.5 1:15:06 with artifacts yet but wow what Kyle 1:15:09 demoed here wow 1:15:11 right I mean holy [ __ ] 1:15:22 [ __ ] maybe you don't want to make video 1:15:24 games maybe you want to make a business 1:15:25 dashboard for your Consulting maybe 1:15:28 you've come up with a new way to think 1:15:29 about analyzing a business and you want 1:15:32 to create an interactive dashboard for 1:15:34 that business do it the same way I just 1:15:37 did it go to Claude and ask it to make 1:15:39 an interactive dashboard upload a 1:15:41 spreadsheet and say make an interactive 1:15:43 dashboard out of this that I can run my 1:15:45 business on and it'll it'll do some 1:15:47 version of it will it be good probably 1:15:50 not it's gonna be jankier than [ __ ] but 1:15:53 again where I'm looking is what if these 1:15:56 tools were 100% better than they are 1:15:58 right now a year from 1:16:00 now it's my contention that they're 1:16:02 going to be significantly better than 1:16:05 onx better but even if they're just onx 1:16:12 better what's 1:16:16 possible Everything 1:16:19 Changes Everything 1:16:22 Changes let's go look at if you weren't 1:16:25 here last 1:16:32 night the new advanced voice model from 1:16:37 which AI is this that AI was Claude 1:16:39 claw. from 1:16:51 anthropic let me get the latest ones see 1:16:53 if we can find anything new 1:16:59 here are 12 crazy examples here are 10 1:17:02 wild 1:17:03 examples I'm going to I'm going to 1:17:05 boycott any any tweet thread that says 1:17:07 here are 12 wild 1:17:09 anythings so I'm going to ignore 1:17:12 her 12 wild examples it's wild and wacky 1:17:16 stuff it's fantastic Bob tell him what 1:17:19 he's 1:17:21 won oh yeah this is good this is a good 1:17:24 think it's 350 1:18:20 milliseconds the average human response 1:18:22 is 260 or 280 milliseconds 1:18:25 so we're we're within a tenth of a 1:18:28 second of human response times 1:18:33 here 1:18:38 um what's this 1:18:42 one but what would it sound 1:18:45 like it would sound like twinkle twinkle 1:18:50 little star how I wonder what you 1:18:56 are so it can do 1:19:01 that pain incredible 1:20:57 help you tell me this isn't going to 1:21:00 change 1:21:04 things you 1:21:06 can't but 1:21:09 again so few people know this is 1:21:12 coming that it's [ __ ] 1:21:16 shocking what's this 1:21:20 one we saw that one 1:21:25 oh yeah this one's pretty 1:21:33 good hey can you recite the beginning uh 1:21:37 the beginning chapter of uh A Tale of 1:21:39 Two Cities uh but pretending that you're 1:21:42 about to fall 1:21:44 asleep sure 1:21:46 thing 1:21:48 well it was the best of 1:21:51 times cam kaken this is the these demos 1:21:54 like that Japanese the thing where it 1:21:57 was he was holding the thing looking at 1:22:01 the Japanese GameBoy game and and 1:22:04 interpreting it um is this is the new 1:22:07 GPT advanced voice that also had the 1:22:11 vision turned on the vision 1:22:13 capability so this is this is like the 1:22:17 the level of accessibility here is 1:22:20 staggering like staggering like 1:22:23 staggering I can't I mean I'm I'm so 1:22:25 excited to hear what what you end up 1:22:27 doing with it and what you know what 1:22:29 people end up doing with it of times it 1:22:32 was the age of wisdom it was the age of 1:22:36 foolishness it was the Epic of belief it 1:22:40 was the Epic of incredulity yeah it's 1:22:44 amazing okay now continue but pretend to 1:22:47 be on stage acting 1:22:50 boldly it was the time of the spair it 1:22:54 was the 1:23:03 time oh 1:23:06 man what's this 1:23:10 one our native phone assistant all right 1:23:13 uh can you count from 1 to 100 really 1:23:16 fast and really 1:23:18 loud sure here we go 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1:23:23 10 11 12 13 14 15 okay now stop sing a 1:23:27 song I can't sing but I'd be happy to 1:23:30 chat about music or go ahead and hum a 1:23:34 song uh just 5 Seconds of humming a song 1:23:36 is fine and tell me the name of the 1:23:39 song okay here 1:23:43 goes that was Twinkle Twinkle Little 1:23:46 Star you barely hum for 5 seconds at 1:23:51 least ah I see well I'll give it another 1:23:56 [Music] 1:23:57 [Laughter] 1:24:01 shot what song was 1:24:04 that that was twinkle twinkle little 1:24:08 staric all right go 1:24:11 ahead all right 1:24:14 um 1:24:16 anyway so that's coming and 1:24:21 then have you seen this [ __ ] well oh 1:24:24 actually let's go to 1:24:26 um let's go to Deco 1:24:32 here and let's go to 1:24:35 create and I'm going to I'm going to 1:24:37 type in 1:24:39 here okay I'll type slow I'm I'm going 1:24:42 to type okay 1:24:44 um 1:24:46 a 1:24:51 vast expanse 1:24:55 of 1:25:02 a 1:25:07 galaxy inside oh well again I am logged 1:25:12 in 1:25:16 [ __ ] what's going on 1:25:31 create the vast expanse of a galaxy 1:25:35 inside of 1:25:40 a unsafe content really whatever inside 1:25:46 of a snow globe 1:25:55 on top 1:25:59 of 1:26:03 a 1:26:05 tower 1:26:07 of River 1:26:14 Rocks in the 1:26:16 middle of a stream 1:26:28 so that's kind of what I was looking 1:26:30 for okay 1:26:33 so this 1:26:36 thing is generating images be before I 1:26:40 can type out the as I'm typing out this 1:26:42 sentence it's generating images in real 1:26:45 time now check out what I can do with 1:26:47 this there's this thing here called a 1:26:50 station this is Deco here app or uh www. 1:26:54 decco here. a and I'm going to go to 1:26:58 this station thingy and I'm going to 1:27:00 click on 1:27:02 it oh I can't do it from here dang it I 1:27:04 gotta I got to upgrade this 1:27:08 account if you have a paid account you 1:27:10 can turn this into a station but I'll 1:27:11 show you another way to do a station so 1:27:13 anyway you can come in here and you can 1:27:14 prompt images you can upscale them you 1:27:16 can turn them into videos it just sort 1:27:19 of makes infinite variations of them 1:27:26 crazy 1:27:28 right I'm going to go to the explore tab 1:27:31 here and this is just other people 1:27:33 making [ __ ] making images right now I 1:27:35 can take any one of these images that I 1:27:37 like like I like the style of this 1:27:39 astronaut right that's cool I can now 1:27:43 click this create station 1:27:46 button and this is now going to create a 1:27:49 station like a radio station a radio 1:27:52 station plays songs passively you can 1:27:56 just sit back and listen this thing is 1:27:59 generating original images about an 1:28:02 image a 1:28:04 second and you can just sit back and 1:28:06 watch it do its thing and if you like 1:28:09 one you can click on it I can upscale it 1:28:12 I can turn it into a 1:28:14 video I can share it or I can create a 1:28:17 station out of that 1:28:28 so that's 1:28:30 that 1:28:33 um let's 1:28:37 go have you seen mid 1:28:50 Journey these were all things I made in 1:28:53 like I don't know 1:28:55 10 minutes here 10 minutes there little 1:28:58 add here little add 1:29:03 there you're like well you must have 1:29:06 used quite an incredible prompt there Mr 1:29:08 Shannon let's see here the the entire 1:29:12 prompt was 1:29:17 pipeline here the entire prompt was 1:29:21 Upstate here the entire prompt was 1:29:23 upheaval 1:29:28 upheaval 1:29:30 upheaval 1:29:32 upheaval any one of these I can go in 1:29:35 and I can say oh that's really cool let 1:29:37 me see a bunch of variations of that 1:29:49 one can we use this and post a Tik Tok 1:29:52 can we use what what is this radio you 1:29:56 speak of Click flick Paul that was in 1:29:58 Deco here it's their their new thing 1:30:00 called 1:30:05 stations okay these are really cool 1:30:07 images so that's a cool one that one's 1:30:09 really cool right and then that one's 1:30:12 really cool so for each of these I can 1:30:15 now go over here and upscale them so I 1:30:17 can go upscale creative because we want 1:30:19 to we want to make it super creative and 1:30:21 I'm going to go to that one and I'm 1:30:22 going to upscale that one creative 1:30:27 that's pretty groovy right let's go look 1:30:30 at what it does so it's starting you can 1:30:33 see the little ghost of the image in 1:30:35 there now the diffusion is happening the 1:30:37 the d diffusion is 1:30:45 happening 31% complete 31% 1:30:49 complete 47% complete we'll get here in 1:30:52 a second it's going to be so good you're 1:30:55 goingon to be like oh Kyle that was so 1:30:56 cool that was bitching Kyle that thing 1:30:59 you did with that dinosaur is super cool 1:31:01 hey hey dude dude dude dude dude do you 1:31:05 know what's cool when you made that 1:31:07 dinosaur and it had like the horns that 1:31:09 was so cool can we upload our own images 1:31:12 and work on them using this tool um yes 1:31:15 you can upload images and have it 1:31:18 describe them and then have it recreate 1:31:20 them you can upload images here's a cool 1:31:23 thing you can do in mid Journey 1:31:24 here's a bunch of images I've 1:31:26 uploaded so here's like a crazy one that 1:31:30 like a a stable diffusion version of me 1:31:33 like in 1:31:34 neotokyo and then here's a let let's get 1:31:39 something very different 1:31:45 here we'll do this one we this crazy 1:31:48 bosot looking thing that was I think it 1:31:50 was 1:31:51 generated so it's going to basically 1:31:54 take those two images as 1:31:58 inputs and make a new a new set of four 1:32:01 Images no prompt at 1:32:04 all no prompt at 1:32:07 all so we'll see what it it looks like 1:32:10 they should be pretty 1:32:12 cool I'm 1:32:15 guessing so yeah you can oh they're 1:32:19 awesome those are [ __ ] bitching 1:32:21 [Laughter] 1:32:31 [ __ ] great there's your new superhero 1:32:33 let's upscale that one 1:32:43 creative that's doing its thing let's 1:32:45 see which of these we like better better 1:32:47 do we 1:32:48 like that one or do we like that one I 1:32:51 think that one's more Dynamic okay so 1:32:53 we're going to download this 1:32:56 boom we going come over 1:32:59 here we got our little superhero with 1:33:01 the spider it's the original Spider-Man 1:33:04 this is this is janky Spider-Man this is 1:33:07 spider 1:33:08 Jank spider Jank spider Jank not quite 1:33:12 as good as a Marvel comic but it's 1:33:14 acceptable for AI work spider Jank 1:33:17 spider Jank 1:33:26 [Laughter] 1:33:30 what is my purpose on the planet my 1:33:32 purpose on the planet is to do stup to 1:33:36 do stuff that's so [ __ ] stupid that 1:33:39 you're willing to go oh [ __ ] if he can 1:33:41 do that I could I could I can smash two 1:33:44 images 1:33:45 together all right so there's spider 1:33:49 Jen love him little tub he hasn't he 1:33:53 hasn't worked out he the he's got some 1:33:55 issues right now his his uh his web his 1:33:59 web keeps breaking when he's trying to 1:34:01 swing from building to building it's not 1:34:03 going well so he's working on a new 1:34:05 formulary for the old uh the old spider 1:34:08 web till he till he gets on the 1:34:13 OIC so okay so let's say you thought 1:34:16 those images were cool and you're like 1:34:19 man sure would be cool if I could turn 1:34:21 those into a movie and then you go over 1:34:23 this thing called clling ai.com 1:34:27 to their swell little image to video 1:34:31 thing and you're like you know what 1:34:33 would be cool oh you know it would be 1:34:36 really cool is if they had a capure 1:34:37 where it's like a little puzzle piece 1:34:38 and you had to slide it over and if you 1:34:40 got it just one pixel off it would tell 1:34:42 you to [ __ ] off and then you'd get angry 1:34:45 and you'd yell at everyone for an hour 1:34:47 that'd be cool so we go to 1:34:50 videos and then we go to image to video 1:34:53 and then we click here 1:34:55 and then we go find one of those images 1:34:57 that we just 1:34:58 made yeah that one's cool remember that 1:35:01 one we just made that you know how we 1:35:03 made it I don't know 1:35:05 by doing stupid 1:35:09 [ __ ] and then we upload that into this 1:35:12 thing and then we say um 1:35:15 large 1:35:18 monster 1:35:20 rides in pain 1:35:24 during the 1:35:26 battle and then we go 1:35:30 generate and this is going to go make us 1:35:32 a a video of that and if you're like 1:35:34 well that suck I heard clling was a 1:35:36 Chinese company and they really suck you 1:35:38 shouldn't use Chinese company I'm like 1:35:39 fine and then I go over to Runway ML and 1:35:42 they're like o introducing gen 3 Alpha 1:35:45 and I think they actually just I hope 1:35:48 they launched it try 1:35:50 Runway they've got a new gen 3 Alpha 1:35:54 turbo is coming that's seven times 1:35:56 faster so you might actually be able to 1:35:59 make enough videos but if I say get 1:36:00 started here and I come in and I come 1:36:04 and and I get my spider Jank there's 1:36:07 spider 1:36:10 Jank let's 1:36:13 see 1:36:15 go the superhero named spider Jank 1:36:26 casts a 1:36:29 spell 1:36:31 with his spider magic 1:36:36 [Laughter] 1:36:45 wand 5 Seconds 1:36:48 generate all right so this does it 1:36:50 pretty quick but it's going to be like 1:36:53 30 seconds here we'll go back over to 1:36:55 cing cing cling 1:37:01 clling anyway spider J's going to come 1:37:03 to life 1:37:07 here abracapocus 1:37:11 exactly so why am i showing all this 1:37:14 [ __ ] why I'm showing all this [ __ ] is 1:37:17 it's highly likely that even people that 1:37:20 come in 1:37:21 regularly may not know that this is 1:37:23 possible 1:37:25 that some of these things are 1:37:27 possible even people that have played 1:37:29 with these tools if you haven't played 1:37:31 with these tools in the past 2 or 3 1:37:33 months they have likely gotten way 1:37:35 better than they were when you tried 1:37:37 them before the evolution speed of all 1:37:39 this is mind-boggling Nicholas that it 1:37:42 is mindboggling it is 1:37:45 staggering and and the fact that there 1:37:47 is a narrative out on Twitter right now 1:37:49 that says all these tools have plateaued 1:37:51 and they're not getting any better and 1:37:52 this [ __ ] was a waste of time and this 1:37:55 was all overhyped [ __ ] is is 1:37:58 astounding to me it's astounding to 1:38:02 me let's watch spider 1:38:05 Jank spider Jank spider Jank oh yeah I 1:38:10 don't know why his head's not 1:38:12 moving but his little his little magic 1:38:16 wand mangled the spider 1:38:24 hopefully cing did better with our 1:38:26 little our little thing all right well 1:38:27 that's doing 1:38:29 that if you didn't think that was 1:38:32 crazy you seen this teacher turns the 1:38:36 tables Broadway that's fine let's go 1:38:38 let's wait do I need to reset something 1:38:39 here reset 1:38:52 create secret meetings of a retired 1:38:56 superhero symphonic all right let's do 1:38:59 that we'll autogenerate the lyrics we're 1:39:01 going to do a two-minute 1:39:03 clip we're going to make a retired 1:39:06 superhero song boom 1:39:11 create have y'all seen this [ __ ] or 1:39:14 heard this 1:39:17 [ __ ] have you heard that Tik Tok video 1:39:20 of the JD Vance [ __ ] the couch cowboy 1:39:23 song 1:39:25 [ __ ] 1:39:26 brilliant that was this 1:39:30 stuff thank you for doing this I'm 1:39:32 amazed awesome cam 1:39:33 Katen no I I know it's 1:39:37 amazing what's this one this one is Udo 1:39:41 there's another one called sunno this 1:39:43 one's 1:39:44 udio you tell me that's udio any next 1:39:48 time I hear someone say udio I'm going 1:39:50 to I will firmly Shake wig my finger at 1:39:54 them all right so we just asked it to 1:39:57 make a song it made us two here's 1:40:02 [Music] 1:40:07 one let's 1:40:10 [Music] 1:40:18 see yudo and sunno are music AI apps yes 1:40:32 remember I said before about maybe I 1:40:34 could make a movie and I don't have 1:40:36 to have someone write the soundtrack for 1:40:39 me maybe I could do it myself I just 1:40:41 [ __ ] did 1:40:43 one I could 1:40:46 hit how's our video coming let me go 1:40:48 look at my Runway videos 1:41:04 [Music] 1:41:09 oh wait damn it that was so good where 1:41:13 where did that tab go where's my tab I 1:41:17 lost my 1:41:19 tab there it is why did that stop why 1:41:23 did you 1:41:27 stop oh did I lose my internet are you 1:41:30 all 1:41:31 gone hello hello maybe my app just maybe 1:41:35 I ran out of browser 1:41:39 [Music] 1:41:49 memory that works right 1:41:55 [Music] 1:41:59 um oh yeah it's it's janking out the 1:42:03 here let me go find another good 1:42:06 video that's not a good 1:42:21 one let's see oh there's our 1:42:26 monster let's go back here 1:42:40 [Music] 1:42:57 using Over the Rainbow progression it is 1:42:59 using Over the Rainbow progression isn't 1:43:02 it but like we just did 1:43:05 that with like no intention other than 1:43:09 want to see some cool 1:43:14 [ __ ] I mean I don't know about 1:43:18 you I find this 1:43:21 staggering let's hear the other one one 1:43:23 it made for us 1:43:25 [Music] 1:44:02 crazy right 1:44:11 [Laughter] 1:44:14 so you tell me this [ __ ] isn't creative 1:44:17 you tell me this [ __ ] is just predict 1:44:19 predictive tokens and it can't possibly 1:44:23 generate anything 1:44:30 creative have you ever done anything 1:44:38 creative cuz what my experience is is 1:44:45 that these tools accelerate my 1:44:47 creativity to the point that I can 1:44:50 barely keep up with it anymore 1:44:54 like I I would say I am orders of 1:44:57 magnitude more creative than I've been 1:45:00 for most of my life on a consistent 1:45:03 level over this 1:45:05 past 18 1:45:08 months and it just keeps getting better 1:45:12 and better and 1:45:17 better new activity in the irregular 1:45:20 Channel not an AI image open to read 1:45:23 this is a screenshot for my son's 1:45:26 syllabus for his psychology class for 1:45:29 his upcoming junior year in high school 1:45:31 the teacher has made AI part of the 1:45:35 content they are teaching I'm so excited 1:45:38 for him and proud of the district for 1:45:40 allowing it this is [ __ ] 1:45:43 huge class attendance is mandatory and 1:45:46 required missing three classes will 1:45:49 result in a non-compliance letter this 1:45:51 is this is uh Amelio's wife's worst 1:45:56 nightmare class Amelio's wife listen to 1:45:59 this this is how schools work class 1:46:02 attendance is mandatory and 1:46:04 required missing three classes will 1:46:06 result in a non-compliance letter for 1:46:08 missing a required 1:46:11 meeting you will get Dem merits for 1:46:14 being tardy to class we will meet a 1:46:18 total of three times a week two days 1:46:20 we'll be going over content and one day 1:46:23 will be exploring the use of AI in an 1:46:26 actual School 1:46:28 syllabus it's a [ __ ] 1:46:32 miracle how to prompt is a serious skill 1:46:35 it is a serious skill but it's not a 1:46:37 required skill M blue I would 1:46:40 argue 1:46:42 um 1:46:44 there's like like the decohere stations 1:46:47 you don't have to prompt at all a lot of 1:46:49 what you can what 1:46:51 required um a lot of what you can do in 1:46:54 mid Journey doesn't require any 1:46:56 prompting now understanding prompting is 1:46:59 really 1:47:00 good um and and you can be better better 1:47:04 than a lot of other people if you're 1:47:06 good at prompting but it's not going to 1:47:07 be a requirement these these tools are 1:47:09 going to get way more sophisticated in 1:47:12 the action they take on our 1:47:14 behalf um thank you for sharing that 1:47:16 Danielle that's [ __ ] 1:47:18 huge in fact I'm going to give it a 1:47:20 little like and I'm going to give it a 1:47:23 this is 1:47:27 [ __ ] 1:47:32 huge um if you're wondering where we are 1:47:35 I'm at this place called the AI Fon we 1:47:39 pronounce it like that if you would like 1:47:41 to join the AI Salon there's the URL 1:47:44 that's going to take you to our website 1:47:45 you can read about it and then if you 1:47:47 click the little button that says join 1:47:49 the community that's going to take you 1:47:51 to this Mighty networks page 1:47:54 and the first place it's going to drop 1:47:57 you off is a little section called 1:48:00 Welcome to the 1:48:02 salon and you can read about what we're 1:48:04 up to and you can read about this little 1:48:07 Journey play first mindfully create 1:48:09 generously lead that journey is the 1:48:11 journey to AI 1:48:13 literacy and we've got values like 1:48:15 curiosity and playfulness and empathy 1:48:18 and bravery and 1:48:20 generosity and that's who the people are 1:48:23 that are in this community so if that 1:48:24 sounds cool to you sign up doesn't cost 1:48:27 you anything and then under the 1:48:29 Community section the first link says 1:48:32 introduce 1:48:34 yourself and I want you to take a couple 1:48:38 of our values 1:48:41 of 1:48:44 bravery and 1:48:46 generosity and I would request that you 1:48:49 generously introduce yourself to the 1:48:51 community you use your real name this 1:48:54 isn't Discord we're not a bunch of nft 1:48:58 bros use your real name Serge introduced 1:49:03 himself tell us who you are tell us what 1:49:06 you're excited about with AI or if 1:49:07 you're scared of AI or if you don't have 1:49:09 a [ __ ] clue about AI but you're 1:49:11 you're going to 1:49:12 try and what you'll 1:49:14 find is that this isn't a 1:49:17 clicky 1:49:20 douchy Elite [ __ ] 1:49:25 experience that it really is a group of 1:49:29 people who are here because they want to 1:49:31 be here and they're 1:49:33 optimists and they're willing to play 1:49:35 and they do it with curiosity and 1:49:37 playfulness and empathy and bravery and 1:49:40 generosity it's it's a remarkable 1:49:42 community so come in and do that and 1:49:45 then if you scroll all the way toward 1:49:46 the bottom there's all sorts of fun 1:49:48 things you can check out but there's a 1:49:51 little area called Community Club 1:49:54 and one of the community clubs is the AI 1:49:56 Irregulars club and that's us the 1:49:59 Irregulars is anyone that shows up 1:50:01 anyone that is weird enough to show up 1:50:03 to this channel night after night after 1:50:06 night they 1:50:08 claim that they're not weird they're 1:50:12 irregular so if you show up night after 1:50:14 night you become an 1:50:17 irregular and you get to come hang out 1:50:19 in the club it's 1:50:21 cool so 1:50:23 anyway that's awesome thank you for 1:50:25 a really 1:57:29 interesting diverse group of people 1:57:31 doing very interesting things but all 1:57:34 all to a person willing to share their 1:57:37 ideas and their experiences and their 1:57:40 frustrations and what works for them and 1:57:42 what doesn't work for them it's really 1:57:44 cool so if you want 1:57:47 to start to build relationships in this 1:57:50 community office hours are a
