27:53 software tried to describe the
27:55 functionality of the objects on screen
27:59 similar to how they would program them
28:02 and it confused the [ __ ] out of the
28:03 large language model I think that's
28:05 absolutely fascinating and and what that
28:08 what that points to to me is we're
28:10 moving into an era where everything's
28:14 going to get all Topsy Turvy every like
28:16 where the P where the centers of Power
28:18 are now because people have specialty
28:22 skills are going to be upended where
28:25 people who have generalist skills are
28:26 going to be better at these large
28:28 language models than the Specialists

30:41 be the biggest opportunity AI
30:45 presents holy

30:56 well there's there's a couple of
30:58 different
31:00 Lanes there's a lane where you're a
31:03 software
31:05 developer
31:07 and the opportunity is in creating some
31:10 novel piece of software that mixes and
31:14 matches AI functionality in a unique and
31:18 interesting way that's one
31:21 lane there's another
31:27 Lane which is is
31:29 the clever application of generative AI
31:34 to completely
31:36 disrupt an
31:41 industry I think the software
31:44 Lane is probably the most the more
31:47 exciting
31:49 one but it's the one that's got the
31:51 highest
31:53 risk because the software one if you
31:56 build a piece of software
31:59 using open ai's API for example you run
32:04 the very real risk that open AI will
32:07 just turn your software into a feature
32:10 or these models are going to get so
32:13 capable that whatever your software is
32:15 someone else can just replicate it like
32:17 that we're not there yet but you know
32:19 give it three years so there's a there's
32:21 a risk right if it takes you a year and
32:23 a half to spin up a software company You
32:26 could argue you could do it faster but
32:28 let's just say you want to actually get
32:31 customers I think you I think there's a
32:34 bigger risk
32:36 there on the on the disrupt how an
32:40 industry
32:41 Works believe it or not Jim Ross is kind
32:45 of heading down that lane where he's
32:51 not there's nothing that Jim is doing
33:07 I'm just trying to be careful with my
33:08 words there there are things that are
33:10 Jim that Jim's doing that that
33:12 are innovating but he he's still
33:15 basically teaching people how to
33:18 manage storage
33:21 facilities right and how you manage a
33:24 storage facility is largely physical
33:26 right there's there's leases and there's
33:29 payments and there's there's all the
33:30 money stuff and and there's there's
33:32 going to be some um some Innovations
33:36 in a lot of the the operations piece of
33:39 it but where Jim is innovating is Jim is
33:42 innovating with things like marketing
33:45 and customer acquisition and um creating
33:49 content and creating testimonials and
33:51 create just doing things like
33:55 like Jim is essentially turning from
33:59 from a
34:01 person that can because he's
34:04 productive Jim has the output of 1.5
34:09 normal humans right just without any
34:11 special tools and with AI Jim's got the
34:14 output of like 10
34:16 humans and because he's doing it
34:19 consistently and he shows up every
34:20 morning and he's like I'm going to put
34:21 in an hour every single morning using AI
34:25 to benefit my business he doesn't know
34:27 what that looks like like each morning
34:29 but he's just doing that like he brushes
34:31 his [ __ ] teeth he puts in the hour of
34:34 AI and so he's he's innovating
34:40 by
34:49 injecting like a completely new way of
34:51 thinking about what's possible for how
34:55 you Market a business
34:58 and so he's in the Self Storage business
35:00 so he's going to kill it there but like
35:01 every single micro business every single
35:05 sector every single micro business
35:08 someone's going to be able to come into
35:09 that sector that really understands it
35:12 and if they come in and they're the
35:13 first one to embrace AI they're going to
35:16 figure out all sorts of [ __ ] to do there
35:18 where the competition's going to be
35:20 looking at them like how the [ __ ] are
35:22 they doing that I what's
35:26 happening so so for me I it's like the
35:30 applied you the creative application of
35:34 AI tools to a business you know really
35:37 well or a category you know really well
35:40 I feel like that's where the biggest
35:42 opportunity
35:43 is because the tech space is going to be
35:47 full of competition right all the
35:49 engineers want to create the next open
35:50 AI or the next perplexity or the next
35:53 mid Journey right there's all sorts of
35:55 competition over here there's you
35:59 know 10 million
36:02 more non-sexy businesses out
36:05 there that are just waiting to be
36:09 reinvented so I think I think there's
36:11 massive opportunity in in practical
36:15 application of AI on how a business does
36:19 what it
36:21 does some of that may include software
36:24 you may make some software you may make
36:26 gpts whatever
36:28 so I don't
36:32 know I think there's all sorts of
36:34 support um Technologies where there
36:37 there could be um like one we talked
36:41 about the other night was licensing
36:45 likenesses so who's going to be the
36:48 William Morris if you don't know William
36:49 Morris they're like the you know
36:52 creative artist agency CA the big
36:55 Hollywood talent agencies
36:59 have an opportunity right now to
37:02 dramatically
37:04 alter what talent representation
37:09 means right now like what what CAA
37:12 innovated with with David
37:15 Ovitz was a thing called
37:18 packaging and packaging
37:20 was we've got a bunch of clients we've
37:22 got actor clients and we've got
37:24 cinematographer clients and we've got
37:26 director clients and we got producer
37:27 clients
37:29 and one of our actor clients happens to
37:31 be Tom
37:33 Cruz oh you want Tom Cruz in your movie
37:37 well okay great awesome not only will
37:39 that be $50
37:41 million but you also have to use this
37:44 director this cinematographer and these
37:46 three producers or you don't get Tommy
37:50 Boy so that that Innovation happened in
37:53 the late 80s and early
37:55 90s and it changed Hollywood
37:59 There's an opportunity right now in my
38:02 opinion to not sign the Tom crues of the
38:06 world but to sign the Kyle Shannon of
38:09 the world and the Jim Rosses of the
38:10 world and
38:13 the Bob Smiths of the world like just
38:18 anyone
38:22 because we're going to need to start
38:24 getting compensated for our likenesses
38:28 because they're going to be so easy
38:31 to replicate
38:33 and if someone likes what I do here on
38:35 the Tik Tock or if someone likes what
38:38 you did on a zoom call at work they can
38:40 turn that into a video Avatar and put
38:42 out in the world and make money off it
38:45 and you'll never see a penny of it
38:48 unless maybe you were signed by
38:53 caa's low-level Talent division
38:59 the digital twin division taught my son
39:02 to create mid-journey images for Google
39:04 business profile updates Biz idea for
39:06 something shoot I missed the end of that
39:10 oh Biz idea for 16-year-old there you go

40:08 they've got there's all sorts of
40:09 regulations there someone's going to
40:11 come into I don't
40:14 know a
40:17 marketing
40:21 area and they're going to use chat
40:25 GPT and some of these other tools to
40:27 come up with with some entirely new way
40:29 of marketing
40:32 something not because they were a
40:36 marketer but because they were a
40:41 janitor but they got curious about
40:43 marketing one night and they learned
40:45 about it and they thought huh and the
40:47 way they think about the world is
40:49 through the lens of 30 years of janitor
40:53 brain and so how they're going to do
40:56 marketing
40:58 will very likely seem
41:00 foreign and
41:02 bizarre to 30 years of marketing brain
41:05 you got janitor brain here marketing
41:08 brain here so marketing brain's going to
41:11 look at Ai and they're going to go I
41:12 know how to use AI for marketing and
41:14 they're going to filter it through their
41:15 marketing brain and then over here
41:18 janitor
41:20 guy is going to be like I'm looking
41:22 through Mark you know through learning
41:24 about marketing through this brain and
41:26 they're going to do something completely
41:28 off thewall and
41:29 weird and marketing guys are going to
41:31 make fun of janitor guy that's a that's
41:35 the dumbest thing I've ever seen I got
41:37 30 years in the business uh trust me I
41:39 know what I'm doing with this marketing
41:40 stuff and before you know it janitor
41:43 guys going to have one of the most
41:45 popular campaigns in all of the
41:47 land and everyone's going to be going to
41:49 janitor guys agency going could you do
41:51 marketing for us that's

41:56 awesome so the cross-pollination of of
42:03 disciplines where people that have 30
42:05 years of experience in one thing are
42:07 literally just going to jump entire
42:09 professions like parallel ones or like
42:12 really tangential ones I think that's a

42:19 cool at what point do actual likenesses
42:23 not mean
42:24 anything yeah that's another Point old

42:28 so I I here's the
42:31 thing it's a really good point the
42:34 actors went on strike a year ago because
42:37 they were like hey producers don't you
42:40 know what producers wanted to do was
42:43 they wanted to hire
42:45 actors that would come
42:48 in and they would pay them a day rate of
42:54 $200 and they would film them like 360
42:57 and then they would pay them
42:58 $200 and then the producers wanted to
43:01 own that likeness for all of eternity
43:05 for all uses in the
43:07 universe and this was one of the things
43:09 they struck over and when they were
43:11 striking over it what went immediately
43:15 through my head is what you just asked
43:16 which is okay well at least in the
43:19 producers proposal some amount of people
43:22 get $200 because you know a year or two
43:26 from now not even a year or two from now
43:28 mid Journey right now can make people
43:31 that don't exist at all that are
43:34 absolutely fine to turn into an avatar
43:36 right and
43:38 and we saw yesterday we were playing
43:41 with the or we were watching videos of
43:43 the new realtime voice model from chat
43:46 GPT you're going to be able to
43:49 take a hyper realistic perfect
43:53 casting person that doesn't exist and
43:56 have them talk words in
44:00 video as if it were an actor and so no
44:02 actor will be hired for that particular
44:04 role so it's a it's a really good
44:07 point but what's what's a fascinating
44:10 thing is that

44:15 musician
44:17 actor P TV personality wrestler right
44:21 any anyone in the sort of cultural
44:24 Zeitgeist right now
44:28 are going to
44:31 have I
44:33 think kind of they're like they're the
44:36 last
44:39 generation where where where people will
44:43 know who they are enough to want to
44:45 interact with their
44:47 Avatar but in the future the the
44:50 characters of the people that we kind of
44:52 fall in love with they may not even
44:54 exist
44:56 ever so like the next Tom Cruz could end
44:59 up being
45:01 some actor that never existed and it
45:04 probably won't come from Hollywood it
45:05 will probably come from some janitor the
45:08 equivalent of a janitor or literally a
45:10 janitor who decided to make a film and
45:14 because of his bizarre worldview made a
45:17 film with a character that was just
45:19 [ __ ] weird and everyone else looked
45:21 at it and said that's weird and then the
45:23 world said we love that character
45:28 and maybe that actor ain't an actor
45:31 maybe that actor never existed so I
45:33 think it's it's a fascinating Point

45:43 funny how we thought AI would come for
45:45 regular jobs and it really attacked
45:47 artists huh yeah I don't you know listen

45:51 artists I think what it's what it's
45:53 attacking is the current tasks that
45:56 artists do I do not believe
46:00 that humans will ever not be artistic
46:03 and creative and
46:05 self-expressive I think I think
46:07 self-expression and and the
46:10 imperative to contribute to the world
46:13 and to other people and to have an
46:16 impact on people I don't think that
46:17 imperative ever goes away I think how we
46:21 do it is changing
46:24 radically and so current artists today
46:29 are reacting like Farmers reacted when
46:32 the steam powered tractor showed up on
46:34 their
46:36 Farm Well it can't take the job of the
46:40 the
46:41 Clydesdales maybe the little horses but
46:43 not the Clydesdale oh [ __ ] it's got how
46:47 many
46:49 horsepower there's 16 horsepower in that
46:53 thing well it makes a lot of noise who
46:56 would want to use it anyway
46:58 way right don't take our acting jobs
47:02 don't let AI write
47:07 screenplays I I understand how [ __ ]
47:12 terrifying it
47:15 is but what's going to happen is
47:18 storytellers are
47:20 storytellers and there's going to be
47:22 storytellers that are masterful at
47:25 today's tools
47:27 that are going to ignore
47:30 Ai and they're going to get obliterated

47:35 heart and it's kind of why this channel
47:38 exists because it is my hope that those
47:41 storytellers oh thank you very much
47:43 those storytellers that are really good
47:45 at today's

47:51 this AI learning lab thing and have a

47:56 two and then they'll slowly start to get
47:58 AI literate and what what they will do
48:01 is they will take their storytelling
48:02 skills and they'll look at these new
48:04 tools and they'll go oh [ __ ] I know how
48:07 to tell a story with these
48:09 tools and they're going to start
48:11 creating incredible works of
48:14 art so you're going to have Master
48:17 storytellers that get left behind you're
48:20 going to have Master storytellers that
48:22 adapt and continue to be Master
48:25 storytellers with new tools
48:28 and then you're going to have Master
48:30 storytellers that come out of [ __ ]
48:35 nowhere what what do you mean she taught
48:38 third grade
48:42 English she she did that she made
48:46 that but she didn't have to blow someone

56:54 think reasoning
56:57 large language models are going to
56:59 displace current subject matter
57:03 experts but what it's going to also do

57:08 democratize that level of expertise to

57:18 analysis Department that's just like
57:21 only knows one thing he studied he got
57:23 his bachelor's in it and then he got his
57:26 master's in it then he got his PhD in it
57:28 and then he went straight from his PhD
57:31 into the professional workplace and then
57:33 he worked his way up the ladder and now
57:34 he runs the the strategy division for
57:38 the analytics thing for the one [ __ ]
57:40 thing he does and he's in sufferable and
57:44 all he talks about is that one
57:46 thing but if you need an expert with
57:50 that one thing you go to that

57:57 happened in the in the uh the struggle
57:59 between

58:10 he's now everyone in the company will
58:13 have access to someone as expert as that

58:57 bit your your C Level players went up

59:16 performing people improve more so

59:21 lower performing people go up
