125. 27:52software tried to describe the functionality of the objects on screen similar to how they would program them
126. 28:01and it confused the [ __ ] out of the large language model I think that's absolutely fascinating and and what that
127. 28:07what that points to to me is we're moving into an era where everything's going to get all Topsy Turvy every like
128. 28:16where the P where the centers of Power are now because people have specialty skills are going to be upended where
129. 28:24people who have generalist skills are going to be better at these large language models than the Specialists
130. 28:30it's going to be wild it's going to be wild wild wild wild wild but it almost never works in GPT using Dolly 3 that's
131. 28:37just absolutely bizarre developers probably tried to make it do sequential steps exactly Joy pie they the the
132. 28:44programmers had the burden of knowing how to program the project managers and the customer service reps were free of the burden of
133. 28:55knowledge and so they just said make me game that does this and and it did tried to log into hey Jen but it

143. 30:56well there's there's a couple of different Lanes there's a lane where you're a software developer and the opportunity is in creating some
144. 31:10novel piece of software that mixes and matches AI functionality in a unique and interesting way that's one lane there's another
145. 31:26Lane which is is the clever application of generative AI to completely disrupt an
146. 31:41industry I think the software Lane is probably the most the more exciting one but it's the one that's got the highest
147. 31:52risk because the software one if you build a piece of software using open ai's API for example you run the very real risk that open AI will
148. 32:06just turn your software into a feature or these models are going to get so capable that whatever your software is
149. 32:15someone else can just replicate it like that we're not there yet but you know give it three years so there's a there's
150. 32:21a risk right if it takes you a year and a half to spin up a software company You could argue you could do it faster but
151. 32:27let's just say you want to actually get customers I think you I think there's a bigger risk there on the on the disrupt how an industry
152. 32:41Works believe it or not Jim Ross is kind of heading down that lane where he's not there's nothing that Jim is doing
153. 33:07I'm just trying to be careful with my words there there are things that are Jim that Jim's doing that that are innovating but he he's still
154. 33:14basically teaching people how to manage storage facilities right and how you manage a storage facility is largely physical
155. 33:26right there's there's leases and there's payments and there's there's all the money stuff and and there's there's
156. 33:31going to be some um some Innovations in a lot of the the operations piece of it but where Jim is innovating is Jim is
157. 33:42innovating with things like marketing and customer acquisition and um creating content and creating testimonials and
158. 33:51create just doing things like like Jim is essentially turning from from a person that can because he's productive Jim has the output of 1.5
159. 34:08normal humans right just without any special tools and with AI Jim's got the output of like 10 humans and because he's doing it
160. 34:18consistently and he shows up every morning and he's like I'm going to put in an hour every single morning using AI
161. 34:24to benefit my business he doesn't know what that looks like like each morning but he's just doing that like he brushes
162. 34:30his [ __ ] teeth he puts in the hour of AI and so he's he's innovating by
163. 34:49injecting like a completely new way of thinking about what's possible for how you Market a business and so he's in the Self Storage business
164. 34:59so he's going to kill it there but like every single micro business every single sector every single micro business
165. 35:07someone's going to be able to come into that sector that really understands it and if they come in and they're the
166. 35:13first one to embrace AI they're going to figure out all sorts of [ __ ] to do there where the competition's going to be
167. 35:19looking at them like how the [ __ ] are they doing that I what's happening so so for me I it's like the
168. 35:29applied you the creative application of AI tools to a business you know really well or a category you know really well
169. 35:39I feel like that's where the biggest opportunity is because the tech space is going to be full of competition right all the
170. 35:48engineers want to create the next open AI or the next perplexity or the next mid Journey right there's all sorts of
171. 35:55competition over here there's you know 10 million more non-sexy businesses out there that are just waiting to be
172. 36:08reinvented so I think I think there's massive opportunity in in practical application of AI on how a business does what it
173. 36:20does some of that may include software you may make some software you may make gpts whatever so I don't know I think there's all sorts of
174. 36:34support um Technologies where there there could be um like one we talked about the other night was licensing
175. 36:45likenesses so who's going to be the William Morris if you don't know William Morris they're like the you know
176. 36:51creative artist agency CA the big Hollywood talent agencies have an opportunity right now to dramatically alter what talent representation
177. 37:08means right now like what what CAA innovated with with David Ovitz was a thing called packaging and packaging
178. 37:19was we've got a bunch of clients we've got actor clients and we've got cinematographer clients and we've got
179. 37:25director clients and we got producer clients and one of our actor clients happens to be Tom Cruz oh you want Tom Cruz in your movie
180. 37:37well okay great awesome not only will that be $50 million but you also have to use this director this cinematographer and these
181. 37:46three producers or you don't get Tommy Boy so that that Innovation happened in the late 80s and early 90s and it changed Hollywood
182. 37:58There's an opportunity right now in my opinion to not sign the Tom crues of the world but to sign the Kyle Shannon of
183. 38:08the world and the Jim Rosses of the world and the Bob Smiths of the world like just anyone because we're going to need to start
184. 38:24getting compensated for our likenesses because they're going to be so easy to replicate and if someone likes what I do here on
185. 38:35the Tik Tock or if someone likes what you did on a zoom call at work they can turn that into a video Avatar and put
186. 38:41out in the world and make money off it and you'll never see a penny of it unless maybe you were signed by caa's low-level Talent division
187. 38:59the digital twin division taught my son to create mid-journey images for Google business profile updates Biz idea for
188. 39:06something shoot I missed the end of that oh Biz idea for 16-year-old there you go create mid-journey image oh oh that's

192. 39:38be oh I could do that yeah you could do that so yeah exactly so so like little like that the big the big opportunity feels like little
193. 39:52Innovations or use it to learn and disrupt something that you don't know yeah that that's another way to do it that someone's going to come
194. 40:02into a profession like accounting well let's let's not do accounting because they've got there's all sorts of
195. 40:09regulations there someone's going to come into I don't know a marketing area and they're going to use chat
196. 40:24GPT and some of these other tools to come up with with some entirely new way of marketing something not because they were a
197. 40:35marketer but because they were a janitor but they got curious about marketing one night and they learned
198. 40:44about it and they thought huh and the way they think about the world is through the lens of 30 years of janitor
199. 40:53brain and so how they're going to do marketing will very likely seem foreign and bizarre to 30 years of marketing brain
200. 41:05you got janitor brain here marketing brain here so marketing brain's going to look at Ai and they're going to go I
201. 41:12know how to use AI for marketing and they're going to filter it through their marketing brain and then over here janitor
202. 41:19guy is going to be like I'm looking through Mark you know through learning about marketing through this brain and
203. 41:26they're going to do something completely off thewall and weird and marketing guys are going to make fun of janitor guy that's a that's
204. 41:34the dumbest thing I've ever seen I got 30 years in the business uh trust me I know what I'm doing with this marketing
205. 41:40stuff and before you know it janitor guys going to have one of the most popular campaigns in all of the
206. 41:46land and everyone's going to be going to janitor guys agency going could you do marketing for us that's [Laughter]
207. 41:55awesome so the cross-pollination of of disciplines where people that have 30 years of experience in one thing are
208. 42:07literally just going to jump entire professions like parallel ones or like really tangential ones I think that's a
209. 42:14big opportunity I don't know man [ __ ] cool at what point do actual likenesses not mean anything yeah that's another Point old oak design
210. 42:27so I I here's the thing it's a really good point the actors went on strike a year ago because they were like hey producers don't you
211. 42:40know what producers wanted to do was they wanted to hire actors that would come in and they would pay them a day rate of
212. 42:53$200 and they would film them like 360 and then they would pay them $200 and then the producers wanted to
213. 43:01own that likeness for all of eternity for all uses in the universe and this was one of the things they struck over and when they were
214. 43:11striking over it what went immediately through my head is what you just asked which is okay well at least in the
215. 43:19producers proposal some amount of people get $200 because you know a year or two from now not even a year or two from now
216. 43:27mid Journey right now can make people that don't exist at all that are absolutely fine to turn into an avatar right and
217. 43:38and we saw yesterday we were playing with the or we were watching videos of the new realtime voice model from chat
218. 43:45GPT you're going to be able to take a hyper realistic perfect casting person that doesn't exist and have them talk words in
219. 43:59video as if it were an actor and so no actor will be hired for that particular role so it's a it's a really good
220. 44:07point but what's what's a fascinating thing is that [Music] any musician actor P TV personality wrestler right
221. 44:21any anyone in the sort of cultural Zeitgeist right now are going to have I think kind of they're like they're the
222. 44:35last generation where where where people will know who they are enough to want to interact with their Avatar but in the future the the
223. 44:50characters of the people that we kind of fall in love with they may not even exist ever so like the next Tom Cruz could end up being
224. 45:00some actor that never existed and it probably won't come from Hollywood it will probably come from some janitor the
225. 45:08equivalent of a janitor or literally a janitor who decided to make a film and because of his bizarre worldview made a
226. 45:17film with a character that was just [ __ ] weird and everyone else looked at it and said that's weird and then the
227. 45:23world said we love that character and maybe that actor ain't an actor maybe that actor never existed so I
228. 45:32think it's it's a fascinating Point anyway old oak design company great question tapping on mobile it's really
229. 45:42funny how we thought AI would come for regular jobs and it really attacked artists huh yeah I don't you know listen
230. 45:48I don't I don't know that it it attacked artists I think what it's what it's attacking is the current tasks that artists do I do not believe
231. 46:00that humans will ever not be artistic and creative and self-expressive I think I think self-expression and and the
232. 46:10imperative to contribute to the world and to other people and to have an impact on people I don't think that
233. 46:17imperative ever goes away I think how we do it is changing radically and so current artists today are reacting like Farmers reacted when
234. 46:31the steam powered tractor showed up on their Farm Well it can't take the job of the the Clydesdales maybe the little horses but
235. 46:43not the Clydesdale oh [ __ ] it's got how many horsepower there's 16 horsepower in that thing well it makes a lot of noise who
236. 46:55would want to use it anyway way right don't take our acting jobs don't let AI write screenplays I I understand how [ __ ]
237. 47:12terrifying it is but what's going to happen is storytellers are storytellers and there's going to be storytellers that are masterful at
238. 47:25today's tools that are going to ignore Ai and they're going to get obliterated and that breaks my [ __ ]
239. 47:35heart and it's kind of why this channel exists because it is my hope that those storytellers oh thank you very much
240. 47:43those storytellers that are really good at today's tools say you know what [ __ ] it maybe I should learn this AI maybe I'll go in
241. 47:50this AI learning lab thing and have a Kevin mallister moment or two and then they'll slowly start to get
242. 47:58AI literate and what what they will do is they will take their storytelling skills and they'll look at these new
243. 48:04tools and they'll go oh [ __ ] I know how to tell a story with these tools and they're going to start creating incredible works of
244. 48:14art so you're going to have Master storytellers that get left behind you're going to have Master storytellers that
245. 48:21adapt and continue to be Master storytellers with new tools and then you're going to have Master storytellers that come out of [ __ ]
246. 48:34nowhere what what do you mean she taught third grade English she she did that she made that but she didn't have to blow someone
247. 48:49on Ventura Boulevard in the back of their BS doesn't make any sense to me she can't be in Hollywood she's been nominated for

249. 49:21emerge some artists Will Survive and and many artists are going to get their asses handed to them because they're
