1:05 58-year-old why why
1:09 not uh this is the AI learning lab uh
1:12 I'm an entrepreneur I'm the co-founder
1:14 and CEO of a company called storyvine
1:16 which is an automated video storytelling
1:19 platform um happy to chat about that I
1:22 was also there for the early days of the
1:25 worldwide web I co-founded a company
1:27 called agency.com in the mid90s so um
1:30 had a had a big Epiphany about that
1:32 worldwide web thing and I thought huh
1:33 this is going to change the way we
1:34 communicate and started an agency and
1:37 sure enough it's changed the way we
1:39 communicate and I didn't think I'd see
1:40 another technological shift like that in
1:42 my life and then Along Came generative
1:44 Ai and in particular chat GPT which
1:47 change change changes the game in my
1:50 opinion that this is profound on a level
1:53 that is bigger than anything I've ever
1:55 seen right this to me feels like steam
1:58 engine significant or printing press
2:00 significant um the worldwide web was a
2:02 pretty big deal but this generative AI
2:05 stuff is uh is is uh is big big deal so
2:10 anyway uh that's who I am I'm happy to
2:12 answer any questions if you have
2:13 questions

2:21 least be creative uh I've got I've got
2:23 some good creative trolls in here so the

2:52 a real AI trading bot a self-learning
2:55 one is it possible well it's definitely
2:58 possible do do I know how to do it no
3:01 but what I would say
3:04 is you could probably hack something
3:06 together with chat GPT go to your
3:08 trading platform grab some bot code
3:11 right of bots that you
3:13 use pop it into chat GPT and say Hey you
3:16 know analyze this this trading bot and
3:19 it will tell you what it
3:21 does and then ask it if it can help you
3:24 create a learning version of itself like
3:26 maybe you could take
3:29 data like day trading data dayto
3:32 day and have it create a I I don't know
3:35 it might be able to help you do that I
3:36 don't know how to do it I don't know
3:37 [ __ ] about trading and and trading Bots
3:39 and things like that but I that that
3:41 feels to me like something you could
3:43 crack just with chat
3:44 GPT um what are my thoughts on web 3 um
3:48 I think web 3 is in a wound licking
3:51 State because of all the fraud and money
3:54 loss and I think that's appropriate I
3:57 think there was a lot there was a lot of
3:59 hype and what was interesting was I
4:01 spent I spent about a year digging
4:03 really deep into blockchain and nfts and
4:07 um I got involved with a project called
4:08 neotokyo which I actually still believe
4:10 in I'm still a member of it it's a big
4:12 web 3 gaming Community um
4:16 and I like that Community but there
4:19 there was a lot was and is a lot of
4:22 [ __ ] in the nft space and in the
4:24 crypto space and that does need to be
4:26 weeded out now that said I think the
4:30 generative AI is actually going to drive
4:32 adoption of web 3 and and and probably
4:35 even like new uses for nfts because I
4:37 think we're moving into a state very
4:40 very quickly here as we move into the
4:42 2024 presidential election in the US um
4:47 we're going to see just tons of
4:48 misinformation and deep fakes and just
4:50 all sorts of [ __ ] and so I think
4:53 it's going to create a demand for
4:55 authenticity and verification and was
4:58 this a real human is this a real news
5:00 story is this a real is this really what
5:02 that person said and I think that's a
5:04 place where tokenization like blockchain
5:06 and nfts could come in handy um so I I
5:09 could see there being um a a real nice
5:13 you know complimentary relationship
5:15 between web 3 and generative AI I I
5:18 think it's going to be needed whether or
5:19 not it's actually blockchain or some
5:22 other tokenization technology I think
5:24 that's less
5:25 significant um but it could be good also
5:27 if you look at if you haven't heard of
5:29 it look up Sam alman's uh
5:32 worldcoin which is a a cryptocurrency
5:34 he's
5:36 creating That's essential sole purpose
5:39 is to verify humans they send you a
5:41 little orb and you put it on your eye it
5:42 scans your iris and verifies that you're
5:44 human and then it gives you some
5:46 cryptocurrency um whether or not his
5:49 project succeeds at doing that or some
5:51 other one does I think you know imagine
5:53 having a Twitter where you know that
5:55 every person on there is actually
5:56 verified as a human and there's a person
5:59 behind each one of them those um that's
6:01 a possibility right and so uh yeah so so
6:05 my thoughts on web 3 are I'm not paying
6:07 too much attention right to it right now
6:09 CU it's just on fire it's just a [ __ ]
6:12 show uh and deservedly so and then but
6:15 it's a very interesting technology I
6:18 feel like it's teetering on discovery of
6:20 fire significance to be honest I I know
6:22 I'm right there with you Jesse I it's
6:25 like for for me like I kind of go um
6:28 fire written l language printing press
6:32 um Industrial Revolution steam engine
6:35 Industrial Revolution and then this like
6:37 it feels that big to me I know computers
6:39 are in there and the internet's in there
6:41 and the worldwide web's in there and the
6:42 iPhone's in there and social media is in
6:44 there those all feel like minor blips
6:47 those all feel to me
6:50 like natural extensions of the
6:54 Industrial Revolution right you have the
6:55 the steam engine and then you do all of
6:57 those media advances photography graphy
7:00 and film and radio and television and
7:03 right so all that stuff sort of rolls
7:04 through and and the computer is kind of
7:06 like this this next logical leap up from
7:09 radio and television right and and then
7:11 it just evolves and then it gets a
7:12 network that's the internet and then it
7:14 gets the web which is point and click
7:16 and then the iPhone puts it in our
7:18 pocket and social media connects us all
7:20 in different ways this generative AI
7:23 stuff feels more like the steam engine
7:24 feels like a big [ __ ] deal and it's
7:27 and and you know it's here's why it
7:30 feels different to me if if you think
7:33 about just at a base level how you think
7:36 about Computing and data and and writing
7:40 programs historically if I want to say
7:43 take this data set and then process it
7:45 in some way and then have it generate an
7:47 output right that's what all computer
7:49 programs are I've got to think really
7:51 hard about okay well what's the data
7:54 coming in and is it dirty data is it all
7:56 consistent or is it inconsistent is it
7:58 unstructured data or is it structured
8:00 data and then I have to write logic to
8:03 to clean the data up and put the data in
8:05 some sort of form I can use and then I
8:07 need to write logic to process the data
8:09 and I got to think about how might
8:10 people use this data well one way they
8:12 could use it is a and another way they
8:14 could use it is B and so I'm going to
8:16 write those two Frameworks and da da and
8:19 everything is this conscious logical
8:22 construct that we've got to kind
8:24 of plug these Lego blocks together to
8:27 get whatever the intended outcome is the
8:29 generative AI stuff is much more like
8:32 here's a blob of data here's here's all
8:35 of the internet right here's all of the
8:37 public internet go ahead interact with
8:39 it as if you've got that knowledge out
8:42 it comes um when you think about you
8:45 know doing data analysis if you look at
8:47 if you haven't seen the videos on um
8:49 code
8:50 interpreter uh that's coming for chat
8:52 gbd go look at that it's absolutely
8:55 insane it's a full-on data analyst with
8:57 a click of a button um so so yeah so
9:00 it's a big deal I'm right there with you
9:02 Jesse I I I don't like to be that
9:06 optimistic about [ __ ] and and listen I
9:08 know all this generative AI stuff has a
9:11 lot of dark sides a lot of dark
9:12 possibilities there's a lot of safety
9:13 issues we got to deal with that [ __ ] but
9:16 assuming we do that the potential
9:18 positive impact here is staggering like
9:23 staggering all right um looks like we
9:27 got a few people here do me a favor tap

9:30 people know we're here we had a we had a
9:32 few people here for a while and and uh
9:35 and they took off um if you've got
9:38 questions about generative AI pop them

9:49 GPT that's the official chat GPT website
9:52 if you've not used chat GPT go there
9:55 right now make an account and start
9:59 playing I'm not affiliated with it in
10:00 any way but just you really owe it to
10:02 yourself to start playing with chat GPT
10:04 start playing with these tools bing.com
10:06 that's Microsoft search engine if you
10:08 click the chat button there that's also
10:10 chat GPT and it's gp4 and it's free and
10:13 it's connected to the internet so it's
10:15 cool it's not as good in my opinion as
10:18 that one but it's still gp4 for free
10:21 then po.com gives you access to GPT 4
10:25 three Claude all the Claude models and
10:28 their own model so you can do do some
10:29 interesting stuff there they also have a
10:31 bunch of bots you can play with you can
10:32 make your own so all three of these are
10:36 some you know variation on the flavor of
10:39 playing with large language models so go
10:41 do that if you haven't done any of this
10:43 before go to prompt. chat that's a a
10:47 document that will teach you how to
10:48 prompt and give you a bunch of examples
10:51 to get you started it's super cool
10:53 document and then futur

11:12 define web 3 for me it's unclear what it
11:14 is well it's it's you it's all the the
11:18 the blockchain you know decentralized
11:21 Defi and D this and D that and you know
11:26 not your keys not your crypto right
11:29 which
11:30 which uh I had some crypto on Voyager
11:34 and they went [ __ ] bankrupt or
11:36 whatever the hell they're in the middle
11:38 of right now and I didn't pull my crypto
11:41 off of that centralized exchange and I
11:44 learned my lesson
11:45 about that [ __ ] but just crypto in
11:49 general so anyway so it's you know it's
11:52 it's ostensively that the decentralized
11:55 stuff the trustless
11:58 verification
12:01 um which I think's really powerful and
12:02 it's going to be necessary it's just how
12:04 it was implemented how it was marketed
12:06 and the shitty shitty shitty projects
12:08 that um were really just designed to
12:11 scam people's money gave them two black
12:14 eyes a bloody nose and a chip
12:16 tooth and you know now they're getting
12:18 their chin stitched up and they're
12:19 trying to figure out is anybody ever
12:21 going to buy Bitcoin again bitcoin's
12:25 really good people like it do you want
12:27 some Bitcoin I got some Bitcoin in my
12:30 back pocket you want
12:32 some I got an nft it's of a monkey you
12:36 want
12:36 it just
12:42 $50,000 all
12:44 right that's web 3 um for trading uh for
12:49 wait trading they can look into linear
12:51 regression and nonlinear regression and
12:53 neural networks yes digital Gods that's
12:55 exactly what I meant to say the old
12:58 linear regression and nonlinear
13:00 regression and neural networks yes yes
13:04 they can do that they should go do that
13:05 I if I were them I'd be on the linear
13:09 regression train right now I don't know
13:12 [ __ ] about trading so but yes go do that
13:16 uh stock trading help is likely coming
13:18 with code interpreter yeah that thing is
13:20 mind-blowing I know I don't have access
13:22 to code interpreter yet code interpreter
13:24 is [ __ ] insane it's insane the the
13:28 one demo that I saw cuz cuz like having
13:30 it do pie charts and graphs and stuff
13:32 like that I'm like okay like you know
13:34 Excel can do that so so you're sort of
13:36 like well okay it's it's some version of
13:38 what I've seen before but this one dude
13:40 he pulled up um um an Excel sheet with
13:44 all of the location the the GPS data for
13:47 all the lighthouses in in the United
13:49 States and he said make me a dark map of
13:52 the United States and plot the location
13:54 of all the lighthouses and make them
13:57 light yellow dots and have them Flash
13:59 and it wrote The Python code made a map
14:01 of the United States with all the
14:03 locations of the lighthouses on it I'm
14:05 just like holy [ __ ] like I don't think
14:07 we have a clue what that thing does and
14:09 how it does it and what it's going to be
14:11 so code interpreter is Bonkers so yeah I
14:14 would agree I think that uh you're going
14:16 to be able to do some absolutely insane
14:18 stuff with with trading with that maybe
14:21 I'll even have chat GPT teach me about
14:23 trading and I won't be such a clueless
14:25 ninny when it comes to money and
14:28 numbers
14:29 ah that acting degree comes in handy on
14:32 a Tik Tock but when you go to the
14:33 trading sites it's a little
14:36 [Laughter]
14:39 scary and you're asking but Kyle aren't
14:41 you a CEO of a company I am but I have a
14:43 co-founder who's really good with that
14:45 [ __ ] cuz I know that I'm not so I asked
14:48 her to be a part of my company cuz she's
14:50 good can chat GPT teach you how to play
14:53 poker oh absolutely tell it to act like
14:55 a master poker Champion a a seven
15:00 bracelet poker champion and tell it what
15:04 level you're at um tell it where you get
15:07 stuck in poker like what what you don't
15:09 quite understand have it explain it to
15:12 you if you don't like how it explains it
15:14 to you tell it to explain it to you like
15:16 you're a 5-year-old or to use metaphors
15:19 or you know like like um you know teach
15:22 me how to play poker and use snicker
15:24 bars as the as the the whatever the
15:27 metaphor and it'll it'll it's it's
15:28 amazing so it can absolutely uh do that
15:31 tokenization should you have different
15:33 tokens for different projects or the
15:35 same token for several I I don't know I
15:37 don't know enough the the thing I know
15:39 about tokenization is
15:44 that if Sam Alman pulls off well some
15:47 someone's going to pull this off whoever
15:48 pulls off the checkbox verified human
15:52 right like paying Twitter $8 does not
15:55 verify that you're human scanning your
15:57 iris with Sam alman's little orb that
15:59 says yeah that's a human eyeball check
16:02 Kyle Shannon is human I would see that
16:04 as being sort of the first token right
16:07 that says the person that typed this
16:10 message is human and then you could also
16:12 have a whole token system for the
16:14 messages you could have a twitter- like
16:15 system that says yeah a real person
16:18 wrote the message and then there could
16:19 be another token that says yeah this is
16:21 the message that was written by this guy
16:24 and it hasn't changed right and then you
16:26 can do the same with all the responses
16:28 so I I would think that you're going to
16:30 see a fabric of token protocols and
16:35 technologies that are all doing
16:36 different things one might be for
16:38 identity one might be for Content
16:40 verification one might be for you know
16:42 guaranteed not modified or Modified by
16:45 some other person right
16:47 so I don't think it's going to be a
16:49 single system um you hit the point in
16:53 the head we need the data we need the
16:57 data give us the data
16:59 it's all about the data in fact if you
17:02 hear Sam Alman talk about chat GPT and
17:05 why it's so
17:06 good he said when they got their heads
17:08 around the the Transformer technology
17:11 that that Google invented and he
17:13 realized that the more compute power and
17:16 the more quality data that you dump into
17:18 this thing the better it gets they spent
17:21 a lot of years like digging into all the
17:23 corners of the internet finding data
17:25 sources getting them in forms that they
17:27 could ingest them and embed them and
17:29 tokenize them um so yeah so it's all
17:33 about the data and apparently that's why
17:35 gp4 is better than all the others and it
17:37 really is like I mean against Bard Bard
17:40 is laughably bad compared to chat to GPT
17:43 4 um claw the the anthropic models are
17:47 pretty good um but they're not gp4 like
17:50 it's better and and listen at some point
17:52 someone will have someone something
17:54 better than them and if they've got
17:55 their [ __ ] together then GPT 5 will you
17:58 know stay on the on the top of the
17:59 mountain but that's why it's
18:02 good all right emergent properties like
18:04 generative AI are not
18:07 magic wait it is
18:09 being oh demonized to scare you no it's
18:12 not magic but it is
18:14 magical right it is it is it's a
18:19 prediction
18:20 engine but what's the isn't it Arthur C
18:22 Clark that says any sufficiently
18:24 advanced technology is indistinguishable
18:26 from Magic that's where we are with chat
18:28 GPT right now it's just a prediction
18:30 engine you know word by- word prediction
18:32 it's it's a fill-in-the blanks engine um
18:35 or completion engine um but it's
18:38 sophisticated enough and and it's its
18:41 knowledge Bas is Broad enough that it it
18:44 like there's just never been anything
18:47 put in the hands of mere mortals uh
18:50 that's been like that um but it it's
18:52 totally being demonized I agree with you
18:54 on that point I you know I think that
18:55 you know for me the demon like I feel
18:58 like we have a default mode with AI
19:01 thanks to Hollywood for the past 50
19:03 years that the robots are going to kill
19:04 us right you know 2001 Space Odyssey you
19:07 know Terminator all all that sort of
19:09 stuff the robots are coming the AI is
19:11 going to kill us so I think I think what
19:14 do we have two or three generations in
19:16 that probably two and a half generations
19:18 of just being AI is the bad thing AI is
19:21 the bad thing AI is the bad thing and
19:23 then all of a sudden it's like here's AI
19:25 oh and by the way it is going to take
19:27 your jobs and it really is [ __ ]
19:28 powerful and it is mindblowing and holy
19:31 [ __ ] are all those science fiction
19:33 movies right so I think I think people
19:35 have this predisposition to the robots
19:37 are going to kill us um why this channel
19:41 exists is to talk to people about just
19:44 go play just go play experience it for
19:46 yourself because once you start to
19:49 understand that this is a tool that gets
19:52 to augment us it makes us like better
19:56 and it gives us superpowers then it gets
19:59 a lot less scary and it gets a lot more
20:00 exciting chat GPT plus what would I get
20:03 with a subscription that I don't get
20:05 with the free version let me show you
20:07 let's go let's go to the
20:17 videotape okay
20:20 so when you come to chat GPT if you're
20:22 paying for um GPT plus chat GPT plus you
20:27 get that little yellow flag so that
20:29 little icon cost $20 a
20:31 month um just to just to um Orient you
20:34 here so if you've never been to chat GPT
20:37 this is your chat history basically or
20:39 your prompt history um and it it
20:42 remembers all the stuff you have there's
20:44 there's danger in using that but but I
20:47 can talk about that then you've got uh
20:50 GPT 3.5 which is the one you get for
20:52 free they also call it GPT turbo if
20:54 you're not paying for it and um I still
20:58 use GPT 3.5 a lot cuz it's super fast so
21:03 um it's still good now if you pay for
21:05 GPT 4 you get access to regular gp4
21:09 which is [ __ ] brilliant but slow you
21:12 get browse with Bing which is um gp4
21:16 connected to the internet and then you
21:18 get
21:19 plugins as they add other features GPT
21:22 Plus members are going to get the other
21:24 features the next one I'm waiting for
21:26 the one I want to fill in right here is
21:28 code interpreter which that's a whole
21:31 another level of [ __ ] data [ __ ] um
21:35 so so that's how you get access to it
21:36 that's that's what you get if you pay
21:38 for it now if you've paid for it and you
21:41 don't see these addition additional two
21:43 options the two betas browse with Bing
21:45 and plugins there's one thing you have
21:47 to do you have to go to your settings so
21:49 I'm going to click on my name go to
21:50 settings and then in your settings
21:52 there's these beta features and you turn
21:54 them
21:55 on so browse with Bing is turned on
21:58 plugins is turned on so that's how you
22:00 enable them once you have it and that's
22:03 what it gives you
22:05 so um yeah and and the plugins are kind
22:08 of insane so the way it works is you you
22:11 click
22:12 plugins then you have how whatever
22:14 plugins you have installed or in a list
22:16 here and you can go to the plugin store
22:18 to find more and when you go to the
22:20 plugin
22:22 store hold
22:25 please you
22:27 have
22:29 139 pages of four plugins each so we're
22:33 getting up there we're almost at 600
22:35 we're like five 500 and change um so
22:39 that's that's a lot of plugins that's a
22:41 lot of plugins and then you can just
22:43 sort of cruise through them you can
22:45 search for things like uh oh I don't
22:47 know let's say
22:49 writer so there's content rewriter
22:52 there's copywriter send a URL and get
22:55 sales copywriting suggestions for any
22:57 page let's install that so I'll show you
22:59 how I'll show you how to do this
23:00 beginning to end so we're going to grab
23:04 copywriter so now it's
23:07 installed and I'm going to go back here
23:09 to to my little drop-down menu in any
23:11 given session you can enable up to three
23:14 of these things so I'm going to turn off
23:15 prompt
23:16 perfect and I'm going to leave on
23:18 copywriter which is down here at the
23:21 bottom okay so now it's installed so
23:24 what does it say it says send a URL and
23:28 get sales copyrighting suggestions for

25:30 internet which is

30:46 basically to hacking so I don't put
30:48 anything in there that's super private
30:50 or super you know proprietary um or you
30:53 know client related um if you want to
30:57 not have them train on your data and not
30:59 have a chat history you can turn it
31:02 off so you go to dat data
31:06 controls in in your uh
31:09 settings and it's this top button here
31:12 chat train chat history and training you
31:13 can turn that off and then um but if you
31:17 do that it's going to delete your trat
31:19 chat history and it'll be gone I think
31:21 it'll be gone across everything cuz it's
31:23 tied to your account so you there
31:25 there's an option here to export your
31:27 dat so if you're going to if you want to
31:30 make it safe and and more secure turn

43:41 GPT now Sam Altman has said plugins
43:45 haven't found a product Market fit yet
43:47 right because the interface is crappy
43:50 they're kind of janky so there's

43:57 you can start to get a glimpse

44:28 that and then they evolved and they got
44:31 better and they figured out what the the
44:34 App Store ecosystem was and they
44:36 launched the App Store and and the rest
44:38 is history and and so now your phone is
44:40 this sort of multimodal device that does
44:42 all this [ __ ] because of the app store
44:44 that's what plugins are going to be
44:46 they're going to be much more
44:47 transparent it's probably going to be a
44:48 fair Fairly ubiquitous ecosystem where
44:51 lots of different large language models
44:53 are going to tap into that if open AI
44:55 does it right like the the fact that
44:57 Microsoft is also using their plug-in

45:01 will too not Google because they're
45:04 competitors and they're going to do
