9:14 model last week, the 40 model. They just
9:16 updated it and it was dramatically
9:20 overly
9:22 asskissy and there were just all these
9:25 these ex post. I didn't see as many on
9:28 LinkedIn, which which makes me think it
9:30 was, you know, it it was uh astroturf,
9:34 as they say. Um but there were lots and
9:36 lots of posts how it was so sick of
9:38 Fantic that it was going to ruin all of
9:40 humanity. Um well, OpenAI rolled back um
9:44 40 to the previous version as of I don't
9:47 know, yesterday maybe. Um so that was
9:50 interesting news. Black bar. Yes, I knew
9:53 that. I was just the thing the thing the
9:56 reason I didn't have the black bar
9:57 there. Um Brandon hasn't had anything to
10:00 do for two or three days. I mean sure
10:02 like working and like raising a family
10:05 and what that stuff but but like real
10:07 work. Didn't have anything to do. And so
10:10 I wanted to just you know have the black

10:50 this, when I first started the salon and
10:52 I was doing Tik Tok videos, we were on
10:55 Chat GPD 3.5 and then I think it was
10:58 March of
11:00 2023. Um, 4.0 comes out and it changed
11:04 everything. And 4.0 was this massive 1.8
11:08 trillion parameter 10 mixture of experts
11:11 crazy ass model that was just different
11:14 than anything we'd ever seen. And it
11:16 changed the world. changed the
11:18 [ __ ]
11:20 world. They retired
11:22 it. Somebody put up a post on X about it
11:25 that I thought was kind of cool. They
11:27 said, you know, serious question. How
11:29 much metal would it take to basically,
11:32 you know, etch into metal all the
11:34 code for for all of the weights of the
11:37 original 40 model as a historical
11:40 artifact that, you know, if you put it
11:42 on magnetic media, it's going to be
11:43 destroyed.
11:45 But if you if you do like a crypto
11:46 wallet and etch it into metal, uh it
11:49 could survive all sorts of stuff. Put it
11:51 in titanium or something hard like
11:54 that. Yeah. Uh Meta has a new AIO OS app
11:58 that's out. That's right. Um let me see.

12:38 features, including fast version 7,
12:41 including a new thing called EXP, I
12:44 guess, expressiveness. Vicky's probably
12:47 played with it. Runway has a new thing
12:49 called references,
12:52 um, where you can upload like a location
12:54 and a person and say, put this person in
12:56 that location doing X, and it does it,
13:00 and then you make it into a movie.
13:01 Pretty amazing.
13:03 Um, Sunno came out with 4.5, which seems
13:07 to be pretty [ __ ] good. It was pretty
13:10 [ __ ] good before.
13:13 Um, Claude
13:15 um, updated their model context
13:18 protocol, the way it works so that
13:22 Claude's going to be able to search
13:24 across. Okay, MCP, model context
13:28 protocol. Basically, that's a thing that
13:30 lets a large language model talk to
13:34 other applications. So, if you want your
13:36 LLM to use tools, this is a thing that
13:39 lets it do that. It's now going to be
13:40 able to dynamically search across all of
13:44 the MCP servers that are out there, all
13:46 of the apps that are available. So,
13:47 that's that's happened. Quen 3 is out.

14:55 for? I think that's an obvious question,

17:28 character consistency and and like sets.
17:31 So imagine
17:34 um you know go into midjourney or go
17:36 into chat GPT and create like a western
17:39 town right and here's looking one way
17:42 down the street here's looking the other
17:44 way down the street here's the back
17:45 alleys whatever it might be but you
17:47 design all the all the things so so
17:49 they're all kind of
17:51 cohesive and now you can just you know
17:54 upload that into midjourney along with a
17:57 character and say put this character on
17:59 this kind of horse in that
18:02 town. So yeah, Ann Murphy's in the

18:45 scheduled everyone. So she had to go
18:46 solo. And apparently uh the feedback has
18:50 been just keep doing it like that. Get
18:53 rid of the fat guy. So you know, we
18:55 we'll have to see. We'll have to see how

19:14 a little bit about
19:18 um about Washington.
19:22 Um, had a really interesting meeting
19:24 with some folks at Meta, that was nice.
19:30 Um, the the uh the companies that we met
19:35 with that we that we brought in for this
19:37 fly in um people were super nice. They
19:41 were doing really interesting
19:43 um really interesting businesses. There
19:46 were 10 AI companies there. Um but there
19:48 was even there was a woman I met. We we
19:50 met in the one senator's office and so
19:52 AI salon represented the AI companies
19:55 and then there was um the a software
19:58 alliance that represented some others
20:01 and then there was a community group
20:02 that represented some others. And so we
20:05 were at um who was
20:09 it? Was it Chris Van Holland? Yeah, it
20:12 was at Chris Van Holland's office and
20:15 this other woman was there and she she
20:17 wasn't using AI, right? She it was it
20:19 was not an AI business. Her business was
20:22 golf simulators. She's got two
20:24 brickandmortar stores and then she's got
20:25 a truck, a 40 foot semi that's got two
20:28 golf simulators in the front and back of
20:30 it. Um, but she was talking about when
20:33 when we went in and talked to the to the
20:35 people, she was talking about AI like
20:37 she it's like she's like I have like a
20:40 staff of five people. like I I use it
20:42 for my marketing strategy and my
20:44 marketing execution and for my you know
20:47 business and for for legal documents and
20:50 HR. She goes, "Do you know how hard it
20:52 is to write a family leave policy?" And
20:55 then I just wrote it. And so like even
20:57 the companies that are not using AI,
20:59 especially the small scrappy ones are
21:01 like, "Yeah, I'm using AI." Like I
21:04 couldn't be running my business without
21:05 it. So that was kind of cool.
21:08 couple of our messages that that I was
21:10 really passionate about are that my
21:13 biggest one was legislate not just from
21:16 a position of risk or or fear but also
21:20 from optimism right and and opportunity
21:25 and and then the other thing is
21:27 understand the technology enough to
21:29 understand the differences between you
21:32 know this AI and that AI you know the AI
21:35 that does you know traffic analysis is
21:38 not the same AI that these small
21:39 businesses are using as their extended
21:41 staff. And if you write
21:44 legislation in a in a brutish kind of
21:47 way, you're going to sweep up small
21:50 companies in in large company
21:52 legislation. So that that was a big part
21:54 of it. There was another message around
21:58 um because there's a vacuum of federal
22:01 AI legislation, all the states are
22:03 taking over and writing their own
22:04 legislation.
22:06 Um, and so small businesses are going to
22:10 have to contend with that. And then my
22:12 the other thing I just talked about is
22:14 like how are you, you know, Mr. or Miss
22:16 Stafer, how are you using AI? And most
22:19 of the answers were I'm
22:23 not. So I put together a nice little
22:26 leave behind for them, which they seem
22:28 to dig. And any questions on what I did?

24:20 readiness cycle at the top and then I
24:22 put the five stages of AI adoption down
24:25 the
24:26 side. And this was a hit. Like the the
24:30 woman from Meta loved this. And she was
24:32 she loved the Kevin Mallister moment.
24:35 And then she goes who who was the one
24:37 that said she goes this quote from? I'm
24:40 no longer the bottleneck to my own
24:42 ambition. I was like uh that was me.
24:46 But she loved that because, you know,
24:48 she she's like kind of getting her head
24:50 around, you know, it's it's it's this
24:54 layered kind of onion. And then this AI
24:57 policy framework, Daisy Thomas, who all
25:00 who was also in DC, um, wrote the salon
25:04 framework, which is this big really cool
25:06 document, but we distilled it down into
25:08 this simple little policy framework. The
25:11 other thing that's cool about this
25:12 document Tik Tok question um did you do
25:16 that doc and 40? It's looking familiar,
25:19 isn't it? So, um so this is just a copy
25:23 and paste from from Mighty Networks and
25:26 then this was actual page layout [ __ ]
25:28 but these two postcards, five stages of
25:30 AI adoption and AI salon policy
25:33 framework, I did in 40. So, I uploaded
25:35 the text and then I uploaded some
25:38 pictures that were just in the style of
25:40 of AI salon branding and I said, "Make
25:43 me postcards that that look like that."
25:46 Um, I did the the policy framework one
25:49 first. And this was probably my fourth
25:52 or fifth version where it got it
25:55 de. Um, I went in, there were a couple
25:57 of letters I had to Photoshop. Um, this
26:00 other one was a [ __ ] nightmare.
26:03 um these five steps. So, I had five
26:06 steps and no matter what I tried, it
26:08 would cut off the fifth step. It would
26:10 just cut it off and I'm like, "Don't cut
26:12 it off." And then it would cut it off
26:13 more and then I'd say, "You're missing
26:15 the fifth step." And it would cut it in
26:17 half. And so, I finally just said, "Add
26:20 a six step to
26:21 this." And so, this document, the five
26:24 stages of AI adoption, it it it said
26:27 before the six stages of AI
26:30 adoption. And I photoshopped that out.
26:33 And then um it cut off stage six, but
26:36 but it gave me stage five. So it
26:39 worked. You got to embrace the jank,
26:42 people. I'm not going in and [ __ ]
26:44 designing these things in a layout
26:46 program. We don't do that anymore. We
26:48 don't use our brains. We don't use our
26:50 skills. If if you've learned one thing
26:53 from me, be lazy. I my my stepfather at
26:57 one point when I was a kid like nailed
27:00 who I was. He's like he's like you will
27:03 work 10 times as hard to not do the
27:06 thing that you just need to do. I'm like

42:41 um and and why I think it's important

43:08 stuff. Um, the there's the World Visa

43:15 Match.com to do dating profiles that are
43:18 World ID enabled, which I'll talk about
43:21 in a second. Okay, so here's this thing.

43:25 this ball with the little camera looking
43:28 thing in it? That's called an orb
43:31 because because as a tech company, they
43:34 want to name their products in the most
43:37 science fiction terrifying way
43:40 possible. So, that's called the orb. And
43:42 what it does is it scans your retina
43:44 using six different wavelengths of
43:46 light, which the minute you hear scans
43:48 your retina, most people go running for
43:50 the hills and they're like, "They're
43:52 keeping all of our biometric data." Um,
43:55 they're not, but they're using their
43:58 biometric data to generate something.
44:00 So, so what it is, what a world ID is,
44:05 it is a it is a ver
44:08 verification that you or your eyeball
44:11 more
44:12 accurately is a unique human
44:16 being. So that you there can't be more
44:19 than one of you. There can only be one
44:21 of you that's got your retina and all
44:23 the [ __ ] in
44:24 it and that you're a human being. And so
44:28 it scans your it scans your eye. Takes
44:30 about I don't know 30 seconds for it to
44:32 calibrate and do its [ __ ] and do its
44:34 multi-wavelength passes. And the way it
44:37 works is this. They they generate these
44:40 multiple images in different
44:41 wavelengths. And then they somehow
44:44 convert all of those into what's called
44:46 a hash. So it's just a big long string
44:49 of numbers and letters that represents
44:52 the data gathered from your thing. And
44:55 they throw the biometric data away. They
44:57 keep the hash. They say the person that
45:00 logged in with this app that went to
45:04 this orb in this city on this
45:07 date, their retina is represented by
45:11 this long string of numbers. They put
45:12 that into a database and then they look
45:15 at all the other strings of numbers in
45:17 the database and compare it and see if
45:19 anyone matches yours. And if it doesn't,
45:21 if it's if it's
45:23 unique, then you are granted a world ID.
45:26 So, you can only have one world ID. They
45:29 don't know your name. They don't know
45:30 your sex. They don't know anything. All
45:32 of the stuff that if you think about 23
45:35 and me, right? And you're like, "Oh,
45:37 this is just like that." No, no. 23 and
45:39 me, you sent your your full DNA sequence
45:43 and they analyzed all of who you are.
45:45 That was a very different thing. They
45:47 had your data. In this case, they're
45:49 just verifying that the mathematical
45:54 representation of your retina is unique
45:57 compared to other people in the
45:59 database. Okay. And now 23 andme is
46:03 going bankrupt and selling that data to
46:05 a private equity firm. What could
46:07 possibly go wrong?
46:10 Okay. So, that's what it is. Now, why do
46:15 we need this [ __ ] thing? Well, have
46:18 you been on LinkedIn or X or Facebook
46:21 lately or Instagram or Tik
46:24 Tok? It's it's starting to get hard to
46:27 know who's a person, who's not a person,
46:29 what's a bot account. There's all these
46:31 bots bot accounts that used to just be
46:34 these mechanical textbased things, but
46:36 now we're starting to see
46:38 faceless videos that are not even
46:40 faceless anymore. Now they have faces,
46:42 but we don't know if they're
46:44 real. And so what world ID becomes the
46:49 foundation for is you could create
46:52 say a competitive social network to
46:56 X but you could guarantee that everyone
46:59 on there is a human being if they if
47:02 they had a world verified world
47:05 ID. So, do you remember about a month
47:08 ago when OpenAI said, "Hey, by the way,
47:10 we're launching a social network." And
47:13 then May 1st they're like, "World ID is
47:15 available in the US." These two things I
47:18 think are very very
47:20 related. Um,
47:23 archetypal, they'll turn us all into
47:25 NFTs effectively. Yeah. effectively what
47:29 you become when you have a world ID.
47:31 It's it's an NFT, a nonfgeible token
47:35 that is tied to your specific hashtag
47:38 that's verified as unique in this
47:40 database of other hasht or hashes of of
47:43 retinal
47:44 scans. Yes, it we're we're literally
47:47 becoming NFTTS.
47:53 Um, so I have a feeling that because of
47:57 the Trump administration and and
47:58 probably influenced by Elon Musk, they
48:01 must have relaxed a crypto
48:04 law, Gary Gensler was very much against
48:07 crypto. And so crypto's been hobbled for
48:09 the past four or five years or whatever.
48:12 You know, the crypto bros will tell you
48:13 it's been hobbled longer than that. Um
48:16 but but you really couldn't do much in
48:18 the US. Like like stuff was really hard
48:21 to use in the US. Um and and World ID
48:25 and Worldcoin just disappeared from the
48:27 US. I got my thing in August of 23 and
48:30 then when I checked again maybe in the
48:32 spring of 24. There were no locations
48:35 where you could get verified and
48:37 Worldcoin you couldn't get it anywhere.
48:39 You would have to get it, you know, with
48:42 VPNs and [ __ ] like that. It was crazy.
48:45 Um, and just May 1st they're like,
48:47 "Okay, there's six cities where you can
48:49 get these world IDs." And I got a notice
48:51 that said, you know, claim your
48:54 worldcoin. And it basically deposited um
48:57 crypto worldcoin into my account.

49:04 that's

50:49 humans could play and you could reward

50:55 Worldcoin and then any other app in that
50:59 infrastructure would maybe accept that

51:03 here, earn money over there. Um, OpenAI
51:08 is giving away this Worldcoin right now
51:10 just for you verifying. Um, is it going
51:13 to be worth anything? I don't know. It's

56:04 that without the end

56:19 there will never in my
56:22 opinion. There will never be mass
56:24 adoption of crypto or
56:29 NFTTS until you fix the problem of
56:33 clicking on the wrong link on Twitter or
56:38 Discord can drain your wallet of a
56:40 couple hundred,000 worth of crypto. As
56:44 long as massive scams like that are
56:46 literally a click
56:48 away and you have to be like a [ __ ]
56:51 you know, a security [ __ ] cyber ninja
56:56 to be able to outsmart the scammers.
57:00 It'll never be adopted. Like that's my
57:03 deep deep belief. People just say
57:05 blockchain for the hell of it with

57:33 are making so much money on it that it's
57:35 just this cesspool of people just trying

57:41 know, pyramid scheme after pyramid

57:46 infrastructure so that you don't have to
57:48 have like I've got because I did this
57:51 for like two years. is I got in this
57:53 project called Neotokyo and I I I went
57:56 deep into this world. I've probably got
57:59 a dozen different crypto wallets. Within
58:02 each crypto wallet, you've got multiple
58:04 chains you can access. You've got to
58:07 bridge things from this chain to that
58:08 chain. There's V vers versions of
58:12 Ethereum that live on this network and
58:14 that network and that network. And then
58:16 you need Binance over here, but Binance
58:19 chain over here. And those are two
58:21 different thing. Like it is it's it
58:25 is
58:28 inexcusably inexcusably complicated.

58:40 link and what that link was programmed
58:42 to do is give your wallet to access your
58:47 wallet and open up its permissions for
58:50 someone to drain it and then they just
58:51 instantly drain it because they have a

58:58 warning, no recourse. Just all your

1:00:32 here's a problem that blockchain could
1:00:34 actually solve it, right? You can
1:00:36 actually
1:00:37 track. So, so if you think about world
1:00:41 ID, you could build a publishing
1:00:44 ecosystem on top of world ID. So, you
1:00:47 basically say, "Hey, I'm going to create
1:00:49 the equivalent of Time Inc., right?
1:00:51 Where I'm going to have writers come
1:00:53 in." And you can't be a writer in my
1:00:55 network unless you have a world ID. So,
1:00:58 we know that every writer in here is a
1:01:00 unique human being. And then you could
1:01:03 build a layer on top of that that is a
1:01:07 like a publishing tracker like this
1:01:10 human being wrote this piece on this
1:01:12 date and you write that into the
1:01:14 blockchain. So you have you have this
1:01:16 ledger of this human being this piece
1:01:19 and then you can verify that this piece
1:01:22 written by this person has not been
1:01:24 modified. you're looking at an official
1:01:27 pristine copy verified on the blockchain
1:01:31 of what this person
1:01:33 said, right? And then someone could come
1:01:36 along and they could respond and write
1:01:38 an editorial response to this and that
1:01:40 would be tracked as well, right? So I
1:01:44 could
1:01:45 see once you have verified human stuff,
1:01:48 then you can start to build all this all
1:01:50 these layers on top of it that that
1:01:52 start to look really really interesting
1:01:55 in a world where we don't know who
1:01:57 anyone is. And I also think it's going
1:02:00 to help with um with bad behavior. So in
1:02:05 today's world, if you want to just be a
1:02:08 douche and create 10 different accounts
1:02:10 on X and 10 different accounts on Tik
1:02:12 Tok and 10 over here and you just want
1:02:14 to be spoofy
1:02:16 McSpoington and just scam people all day
1:02:20 long, you can do it. You can sit there
1:02:21 as a puppet master and just have all
1:02:23 these accounts and now you can use AI to
1:02:26 just [ __ ] flood them with content.

1:02:36 this is an ecosystem that's powerful,

1:03:31 blockchain verified identity systems.

1:03:35 of them, but it's the Sam Alman one. So,

1:03:43 Open AI starts putting anything out that
1:03:46 has economic incentives in it, Worldcoin
