15. 3:47today Greg Brockman and Sam Alman and open AI said that they updated chat GPT and they updated the 40 model to be better at creative
16. 4:02writing and so I did a little test and it got better at creative writing in a in a decently demonstrable
17. 4:14way and then I I made some lyrics and I'll what we're going to talk about tonight is is we're going to play with
18. 4:20that so if you're on the Tik Tok if you go to my name and click on the YouTube channel that'll take you over to YouTube we're going to be
19. 4:27demoing a bunch of stuff tonight I'm gonna be like hanging out in chat GPT and sunno probably going back and forth
20. 4:34between them maybe even going over and uh testing some stuff on on uh Claude or something like [Music]

22. 5:05posted it on X and then X went absolutely batshit I've never had I've never had a post on X get more than I
23. 5:15don't know 20 interactions you know maybe 50 on a good one and this one's just like it's it's just dozens and

50. 11:13thought um I will often be uh challenged uh to my uh to reveal my qualifications for why I'm allowed to be here talking about AI

52. 11:43boy I have no qualifications other than curiosity um kind of a radical optimism for transformative technology
53. 12:02[Music] and I think today was actually for me personally it was the first real Kevin mallister moment I've had in a while
54. 12:14where where it was truly like holy [ __ ] um and it's funny when I put this song out there like most people just love it
55. 12:25but you know anytime you put something out in the wild you know one guy said he said it still sounds like corporate driil to
56. 12:35me it doesn't sound like corporate driil I I work with corporate driil all day long I work I do a lot of work for
57. 12:42pharmaceutical companies and all the music we use is Corporate driil I've built an entire company around corporate driil I know corporate
58. 12:51driil um this is not that but you know everyone's gonna have something to say whenever you put something in the world
59. 12:57and that's just one of the deals if you're gonna if you're going to put yourself out there you're going to put
60. 13:01your name on something you're going to say I did this there will be someone there a small person but someone there

92. 18:46can use filters that make our eyes look like we're paying attention you know it's it's it's fantastic anyway the salon is a place where
93. 18:59where AI curious adventurers and optimists hang out and support one another and teach one another and experiment and collaborate it's it's
94. 19:10really quite amazing um if you come here there's a quick little seven-step sort of you know start your adventure little
95. 19:16onboarding process step two is introduce yourself step three is learn about our values what we value curiosity
96. 19:25playfulness empathy bravery generosity and what's cool about the values is this is who's already in this
97. 19:33community it's a community that you can come in and you can be like I'm hey C hey c c c c c yeah I'm a dumb dumb
98. 19:44nobody's a dumb we're all dumb Dums we're all dumb Dums here's why you're like but there's people who have degrees from Stamford right yeah

100. 20:08um one of the things that we talk about in the salon is the the journey to AI literacy and the journey is this play first
101. 20:19mindfully create generously lead and what does play first means is starting off November 30th 2022 the launch of chat
102. 20:32GPT that's the date in my opinion that everything changes because that's the date where anyone who can just use
103. 20:44words can generate things with AI right the G the G in GPT is generative and the p is pre-trained right you don't have to
104. 20:55bring your own data set you can just go to chat GPT and use it it's been trained on as much of the internet as they could
105. 21:01get their hands on and it's quite stunning and remarkable the challenge with all these AI tools right now is they keep evolving
106. 21:09and changing and getting more capable and so someone who was an expert three months ago if they're not keeping up
107. 21:15with everything they're not an expert now so no one's an expert everyone's a dumb dumb and what's cool about this
108. 21:21community is you come in and you say here's where I am and and where you are could be Ground Zero I you know I got no
109. 21:28EXP experience I'm just curious that's all you need come in be curious be adventurous start playing start asking
110. 21:35questions if you learn something teach someone else cuz someone will come in right behind you that's where you were
111. 21:41two weeks ago you be like I I remember when I was like that I knew nothing now I know how to go to chat GPT right so anyway so we had a good
112. 21:56meeting um Tuesday Mark the calendar one of the one of the next uh little things in your little welcome seven-step process is RSVP for
113. 22:07the next event so the the next event is a uh a salon presents meeting so it's on the first Tuesday of December December 3rd so just come in

116. 22:46[Music] second so tonight we're going to we're going to dig into the new creative writing upgrade that chat GPT got today um the
117. 23:03the 40 model got an upgrade I guess overnight and apparently it's better at creative writing and the first test that
118. 23:11I gave it it kind of blew me away and so I made a uh an Eminem rap lyrics of like an Eminem Cipher um that is the first time in two
119. 23:23years that I've ever had a large language model deliver something that is in the neighborhood of what Eminem does
120. 23:31naturally like they've never been close like song lyrics in particular in particular are really hard to do well with large
121. 23:41language models they know all the stuff but they just tend to give you very predictable bullshitty kind of
122. 23:49stuff um and it didn't today and then I took those lyrics to sunno and I made a song and it was quite remarkable so
123. 23:56that's what we're going to be playing with I'm going to walk you through the process of what I did but I want to I want to share an
124. 24:02Insight I had last night at the salon and that Insight is um so this channel I started I started the salon the week after chat GPT came
125. 24:14out I started my Tik Tok Channel about the same time and I started doing these lives uh primarily on Tik Tok uh April
126. 24:22of 20123 so you know more than a year and a half I've been doing these lives nightly um the first year was magic like there
127. 24:33was new stuff coming out and you know I was teaching people how to use it and I was paying attention to everything and I
128. 24:39kind of had all these tools in my head I knew that okay ping does this and and or Pi does this and Bing does that and
129. 24:47Chachi PT does this and Claude does that and I I could keep it all in my head and there's you know a couple of song
130. 24:53generators there's a couple of image things there's a video thing or two and every time a new tool came out it
131. 25:01was like a new dopamine hit it was like this new excitement and there was a sense of urgency to it and then sometime this
132. 25:12year I think it's started pretty close to the beginning of the year February March maybe um open AI started missing launches they
133. 25:24would announce [ __ ] and then just not launch it right they they announced Sora I think in March or April and then they said well we're
134. 25:32going to definitely launch it in June and then June came and went and then August came and went and like we still
135. 25:38haven't had Sora right so they started missing things and then all these other companies were trying to catch up to
136. 25:45chat GPT and they were catching up to chat GPT and what started happening was there started to be so many tools that were gp4
137. 25:55class that I could no longer keep them in my head and it also seemed less relevant somehow to keep up with all
138. 26:04that stuff and so I kind of just went into this LW emotionally you know psychically like what whatever just like like just
139. 26:13concept wise for what I'm doing here I still kept showing up because there's something one of the things I believe if
140. 26:20you're an entrepreneur in any way I think the biggest um determinant of success is if you keep showing up and especially if
141. 26:33you keep showing up when you don't feel like it that's really important so I was talking about this last night and and what hit me was in
142. 26:43the past month or so I've come to the realization I've come to the acceptance I've accepted in myself that I got
143. 26:50really seduced by all the new stuff like like shiny object syndrome and and and that I'm not anymore and and what I've been
144. 27:03lamenting is the fact that I I've stopped playing with all the tools I have in my hands right now I
145. 27:17mean I occasionally use a tool but I just use it when I need it but I stopped playing with them right going back to
146. 27:23that play first mindfully create generously lead the play first part I lost the playfulness and I lost the playfulness of tools like chat
147. 27:34GPT is is a remarkable [ __ ] tool and how did I lose the joy for that how did I lose the playfulness for that
148. 27:43well cuz I was kind of acting like I had it figured out and I didn't have it figured out so last night on the uh oh wait from
149. 27:53Silver F demos will be on YouTube yep great thank you Tobacco Burst I know this is great isn't it this beautiful old Guild sounds

151. 28:241987 yeah it sounds amazing nothing I I've yet to find a guitar that sounds like this thing um so anyway so I kind of lost the joy
152. 28:36of playing with the tools we had in our hands and then last night there were a couple of a couple of conversations
153. 28:43about people are feeling something similar and it was Liz Miller gersfeld that all right let's see archetypal
154. 28:50architect hey Kyle Kyle Kyle I put a couple of vegetarian Thanksgiving songs in the music channel if you're feeling
155. 28:56festive okay good per perfect I I I I pray that one of them is called you know the tofurky lament or something like
156. 29:12that um uh what are we talking about oh so so Liz Miller gersfeld said she is in a transition as well and she and here's how she described
157. 29:26it when one of the one of the one of the people that spoke talked about having a sense of urgency that they that they felt a sense
158. 29:35of urgency to learn Ai and that for for me that resonated because it felt like ah maybe that's what I've lost i' I've
159. 29:42lost that sense of urgency personally and so that really resonated and then Liz Miller gersfeld got up and
160. 29:48she said she's been in a transition she said that that that word urgency resonated for her as well and she said
161. 29:54I'm in a transition from an urgency of breadth to an urgency of depth and I thought that was just a it's
162. 30:04just a really beautiful pile of words to put together right I'm moving from an urgency of breadth to an urgency of
163. 30:11depth and what she meant was in the early days of this AI stuff the generative AI stuff there was just a
164. 30:18handful of things um that that you had to learn and you could kind of learn most of what they could do because they
165. 30:25were all so simple and they were all so limited and janky and so we had this urgency to learn it all and the transition is chat GPT is no
166. 30:37longer a single tool it's about a dozen different models and um interfaces and applications all sort of mung together
167. 30:50into this one interface that makes it look deceptively simple but it's actually deceptively complicated
168. 30:58and so to get good at it now you've kind of got to go deep you've got to pick a lane and so for me that started to get
169. 31:05really exciting because it's like yeah that's the there's been this lack of urgency because you can't learn all of
170. 31:13it horizontally because if you think about where AI is headed AI is headed to becoming a ubiquitous fabric just like
171. 31:22the internet is right you can't you can't just say I want to learn all of the things you can do do on the internet
172. 31:28that would be ridiculous right well that's kind of where AI is headed and we're in that transition point where in
173. 31:35the first year year and a half you could keep it all in your head the generative AI stuff that's what I'm talking
174. 31:40about you can't anymore and the tools are getting incredibly sophisticated and what they can do is incredibly
175. 31:48sophisticated but you have to learn all the nuances just like if you're really good at Photoshop it took you a decade
176. 31:55to get there and the tool was evolved and you were evolving but you were getting better and better at it I we're
177. 32:00going to have similar sort of things with AI um the cool thing about AI is AI can teach us to use all the other tools
178. 32:07so if you're diving deep here and then you want to go over here and dive deep you can do that too so anyway urgency of breath
179. 32:16breadth versus urgency of depth all right let me go look at comments here [Music] okay that we're gonna that we
180. 32:32saw on Tik Tok I made the worst video commercial for a guitar company today my first attempt oh my God so bad okay so
181. 32:41so uh live left love here's the deal here's the deal this is huge so first of all congratulations that you
182. 32:50built something so you let me go find the graphic again you moved from
183. 33:05playing to mindfully creating right you said okay I've got a guitar company I want to make a commercial for them
184. 33:10whether you were being paid for them or whether you were just doing it on a lark you're moving out of just experimenting
185. 33:17into okay I'm going to make a guitar commercial right um and you made it so bad which is great um hang on a sec what are you saying
186. 33:30there Brandon I can't see the word hang on oh gutter oh a gutter company oh well whatever gutter company not
187. 33:40Guitar Company okay gutter company still mindfully create you're moving into a thing where you're problem solving right
188. 33:47that's really funny I got guitar on the brain [Music] um here's my contention my contention is that however long it took you 2 hours 4
189. 34:01hours 4 days doesn't matter the amount of time you put into making that commercial using AI tools badly is going to be more valuable to
190. 34:14you than if you put in the exact same amount of time doing something decent with traditional um workflow because what you're learning is
191. 34:25where the boundaries of the AI Tech is where your boundaries are in terms of how good you are at prompting it and how
192. 34:32good you are at stitching [ __ ] together and how good you are at dealing with the massive content that these AI tools
193. 34:37generate right so um that's a cool one uh congrats that's really great okay let's see kaef on Tik Tok I heard about
194. 34:46a new AI video platform called Pinocchio or something like that so Pinocchio is not a uh an AI video platform but what Pinocchio is is it's
195. 34:57an application you install on your Mac I think it's Mac and PC definitely on Mac um I think on PC and what it is it's an
196. 35:06application that allows you to run other AI models so you run Pinocchio and then within it you install models and so
197. 35:15people are setting up little Pinocchio installers or I I don't know how they do it they're you know they're getting all
198. 35:21the open source models available for Pinocchio and then what you do is you go into Pinocchio you look for video model
199. 35:28X or flux 1.1 whatever it is and then you install that on your computer and then you run it in Pinocchio um it can be slow it can be
200. 35:38janky the world of Open Source is very very complicated if you're a geek and love knobs and switches and dials run
201. 35:46down the open source Rabbit Hole there's lots to play with there if you're not just wait for all of that technology to
202. 35:52kind of migrate up to the commercial tools all right beautiful all right what's next here blue age on Tik Tock so
203. 36:02today which AI hallucinate the least um they all hallucinate a lot it's a it's a it's actually a really
204. 36:18complicated question because use case is really important if you're talking about creative writing you might want to know which ones
205. 36:29hallucinate the most right like hallucination isn't always bad Hallucination is it means it's not going
206. 36:36to be predictable if you're trying to get something factual that's bad right so one of the ways you can
207. 36:46hedge against hallucinations is use a tool like perplexity that will search for the internet search the internet and give
208. 36:54you answers to things and then give you citations that you can click on and go read The Source material that led
209. 37:01perplexity to write that even perplexity will hallucinate citations so if you don't go click on them and verify the the data they might
210. 37:12just be wrong um using Code interpreter inside Claude or inside um chat GPT tends not to be super hallucinating
211. 37:27because it's writing python code and executing it but it still hallucinates it will add fictitious people into a
212. 37:35spreadsheet sometimes why I don't know why um they all do it though and and I think the the trick is understand your knowledge domain well
213. 37:47enough that um you can check your work right if you don't know anything about the law and you hav't write a legal
214. 37:56opinion and then you read the legal opinion you're going to look at it and go yeah this looks reasonable and you
215. 38:01might give that to a judge right and the judge is going to be like the hell is this if a lawyer looks at that they're
216. 38:09going to be able to immediately pick out oh these three things are wrong right so I would say just you know know know your
217. 38:15know the use case know your knowledge domain well um all right what else we got here John on Tik Tok should I sign up for
218. 38:25Gemini advance for 20 bucks a month I wouldn't I think Gemini right now is a a a bit of a steaming pile of poo
219. 38:39um like if if you only have 20 bucks a month to spend I would personally spend it on chat GPT um but again it depends on what you
220. 38:50want to use it for the the thing about Gemini is that if you want to develop applications they've got a good development
221. 38:59playground they've got a 2 million token context window for chats which can be pretty remarkable it's multimodal which
222. 39:06can be pretty remarkable but it's also just not as good at writing and problem solving and programming as chat GPT or
223. 39:16Claude so I would say Claude or chat GPT would be where my my my money in order of the big four if the big four are are chat GPT Claude
224. 39:27Microsoft and Google my order of where I would spend my 20 bucks open AI Claude Microsoft uh what do they call it
225. 39:43uh I can't even remember what the [ __ ] they call it now it used to be called Bing now it's called whatever the [ __ ]
226. 39:50it's called Microsoft and then I would go Google because Google's just their stuff's all over the place Google blows in other words co-pilot
227. 40:00thank you Microsoft co-pilot I would pay third that that would be the that would be the four that I would go I would
228. 40:07probably put I'd pay 20 bucks I'd throw perplexity in there as a number three so I would go we'll do five fingers I would
229. 40:17go open AI first Claude second perplexity third co-pilot from Microsoft forth and then um and then Gemini Gemini paid so for what
230. 40:32that's worth for what it's worth people all right frantastic B I'm tell him what he's won I'll tell you so here's what we're gonna

238. 41:57I've ever heard um I did it as a female vocalist because I was writing I was actually writing a song for a musical
239. 42:03that I'm working on um and it just came out so good I wanted to share it with the world and when I shared it with the
240. 42:08world people went kind of crazy um so that's what we're going to do tonight we're going to go play with that
241. 42:16stuff and then I'll talk about I'll talk about some of the create uh the the creative writing that I've done with with chat G in
242. 42:28general um all right so here's chat J Tai it sounds like yeah I don't have anything new some people seem to be getting um new
243. 42:41versions of chat GPT that have different interface elements follow the question why GPT over Claude I I'll tell you what Johnson Lee um
244. 42:54it I don't have a super great answer for why chat GPT over Claude other than I imprinted on chat GPT right I started
