8. 1:37that's the official um that's the official chat GPT website opportunity Sage do you think do you think have a separate laptop to run auto
9. 1:48GPT is best for testing it um probably I mean most of the guys that I know that are kind of security Geeks and
10. 2:02you know appropriately paranoid will run um you know Standalone either virtual machines or stand Standalone uh what do they call it flashes
11. 2:15of an opera you know clean operating systems and then run things within it so um probably because when you're dealing
12. 2:21with auto GPT and it's connecting to the internet and it's Auto executing stuff um it's probably it's probably a mess um
13. 2:29that's sort of a an advanced topic we're talking about uh autonomous agents there uh if you're new to AI oh there's a lot
14. 2:37of people here wow hey my name is Kyle Shannon I am this is the AI learning lab I am wearing a lovely Tick Tock cap on
15. 2:46top of of pretty much disastrous situation in the hair Department [Laughter] I'm a long time entrepreneur I was a
16. 2:57founder of agency.com in the mid 90s so I got to see um the you know the early days of the world wide web and and kind of you know
17. 3:07ran that up through and including the.com boom and um this is the second time in my life where I feel like there's one of these
18. 3:16one of these right so I kind of feel like in in my lifetime I just missed the PC Revolution right I was just too young
19. 3:23to be you know in the in the crowd or age of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates when they started you know Microsoft and Apple
20. 3:31and then uh I didn't think I'd see something like that again in my lifetime and in 1994 I discovered the world wide
21. 3:39web and I was like holy [ __ ] this is one of those and uh and in 2022 um after getting pretty enamored with
22. 3:49stable diffusion and dream booth and and just figuring out what was going on with this AI stuff um I did you know chat GPT came out and
23. 3:58I had one of those epiphanies and it was just like holy [ __ ] the world just changed but no one knows it yet and so
24. 4:05that's what we're in the middle of so that's what this channel is about so if you have questions about AI just pop them in the thing below
25. 4:11um I have a background in storytelling not in machine learning or AI um I you know I I think I represent you
26. 4:19know maybe the we're at an inflection point where chat GPT kind of uh put the power of AI in the hands of normal
27. 4:28people and normal businesses and normal entrepreneurs and um that's where I think we're on the cusp of we're at the very beginning of
28. 4:35that so people that have been doing Ai and machine learning for a long long time are probably a bit bitter right now
29. 4:41you know for the past decade they've been going this thing's a big [ __ ] deal and all of a sudden people like me
30. 4:45come along like this is a big [ __ ] deal so I got a friend Richard Boyd who's been doing this for a decade and he's
31. 4:52been doing 3D Sim stuff so he he was doing metaverse before metaverse was cool he was doing AI before I AI was
32. 4:59cool I'm like Richard this AI stuff he's like yeah I know I've been doing it for a decades so there you go
33. 5:06um anyway the other the other thing that is is uh is a part of the experience with me here is watching me try to follow along with
34. 5:16the questions so I do try to answer all the questions and I scroll down through them and I get very far behind
35. 5:23um so and it looks like the the numbers are sort of weaning down so people are appropriately leaving the conversation cheers cheers to that
36. 5:34um okay let's see I asked to answer the question about Auto GPT um all right let's see shout outs from Los Angeles hello hello
37. 5:48what's going on in La is it is it weird I've got weirdness here in Denver where I'm just open the window um it has been um
38. 5:59raining every day like usually in the afternoon like Florida kind of you know storms roll in and and
39. 6:07lightning which you know for most places is kind of normal but for Denver it's really weird you know we have 300 days a
40. 6:14year of sun and it's been raining for like three weeks straight it's just surreal so anyway but I'm sure it'll all be fine

45. 6:58thank you very much it's an amazing time is it an amazing time right now yeah you know I just sometimes people come in and they get a
46. 7:06little bitter like the robots are gonna kill us I'm like do you understand that we get to play with these [ __ ]
47. 7:11amazing tools like like these things that amplify our humanity and give us superpowers like how lucky are we to be
48. 7:18able to play with this stuff and if we play with this stuff and do good with it it's going to have a disproportionately positive effect on
49. 7:28the future development of these tools I deeply believe that so we are not at the mercy of the robots um they are our co-pilots which
50. 7:40Microsoft chose as a brand name for for the the pair programming you know coding bot in GitHub and now they're rolling it
51. 7:49across their entire Suite of products I think it's a brilliant name it's really good I think it's it's the thing that so
52. 7:55far most aptly describes what these tools are you're the pilot these are your co-pilots they just happen to be
53. 8:02co-pilots that are smarter than [ __ ] any human being on Earth so use them wisely um okay ask questions if you have down there
54. 8:13um if you're new here uh these URLs chat.openai.com is the official website of Chachi BT bing.com is if you want to
55. 8:24use gpt4 for free that's at bing.com and then pro.com gives you access to a bunch of different models you can play with
56. 8:30including the anthropic Claude models which are pretty amazing do I think AI can evolve now because all
57. 8:38of the human feedback wait do do I think AI can evolve now because of all of the human feedback and interaction I well so open AI
58. 8:48um their their entire um fine-tuning model is based on human feedback it's called human reinforcement
59. 8:54learning so there's kind of four layers of training they do the base layer and then there's I don't know some other
60. 9:00kinds of fine-tuning and the final one is human reinforcement learning where the model gives answers and humans go
61. 9:06that sucks or that's great and then I think they even might even give some here's what I would say instead or
62. 9:12whatever and then the models learn very very quickly how to get good and then they gave us chat GPT for free
63. 9:19why because like Google well you know if the product's free you're the product so they're using us um for training so the the the
64. 9:31fine-tuning models are getting better and better because we're using it over and over again I'm just a big fan not asking yet thank

66. 9:49see something funny not only do I remember it I just opened a keynote speech with it so this was a a speech I put it out with
67. 10:01this this fine thing so these are some images from a project they did called Kyle Shannon dreams and I started out saying in the fall of
68. 10:091977 I walked into a classroom and there were all these computers on the desks and the classroom looked not dissimilar
69. 10:18to this that's actually a mid-journey uh imagination of what a 70s classroom full of computers would have looked like but
70. 10:27the very next slide is what was on our desks were Radio Shack TRS 80s so not only do I remember them I just built
71. 10:35them into a into a presentation where I talked about um as I used this remarkable machine and I learned basic programming on it I was
72. 10:46acutely aware that I was just too young this I was in seventh grade I was just too young to be one of these guys
73. 10:53and I was just too young to be one of these guys that's Bill Gates in the Microsoft Founders and I remember being
74. 11:01really sad that I that I had missed um I had missed being in this club and and what I was also acutely aware of I don't
75. 11:11know why I was aware of this in in seventh grade but I was aware in seventh grade that that technological revolutions like the
76. 11:21personal computer you know are like once in a generation kind of things there's you know there's there's like the
77. 11:28computer right in the 50s there's the personal computer in the 70s and you know this printing press there's
78. 11:35Industrial Revolution there's these major technological milestones and and what I knew is you know you're lucky if
79. 11:41they have if one happens in your lifetime so it was really sad that I missed um you know this Revolution
80. 11:48and then um and then the World Wide Web came along and and I realized oh crap that's one of those I get to play with
81. 11:56that so anyway so I yeah I do know the TRS-80 Love The Tiara city thank you for for uh taking me down memory lane ah you
82. 12:06know in my day you sat at a computer you put in a floppy disk and it was actually floppy all right uh could zip Nerf be used to create tour
83. 12:19videos of homes I think yeah I I don't know what zip Nerf is but that might be an app uh or it might be a model but
84. 12:27Nerfs in particular I think are going to transform a lot of things I think we're going to see lots and lots and lots of
85. 12:33internal 3D models created with Nerfs um if you don't know what they are they're something something Radiance Fields they're basically
86. 12:42they're basically light 3D models of of space and I don't quite know how they work but they're really [ __ ]
87. 12:49remarkable and so yeah I think we're going to see a lot of internal oh Leonardo DiCaprio yeah I I I look like
88. 12:58Leonardo DiCaprio that made bad choices in his life I'm if Leo didn't get the Oscar cheers [Laughter]

92. 13:44has sucked I spent an hour on the phone today with Xfinity and they told me it appears that something's wrong with your internet and
93. 13:54it appears that it's been wrong for about a month which is what I told them and so I said it appears that why don't
94. 14:00you give me some money back so I don't have to pay for this crappy internet service so they're coming out Thursday
95. 14:05morning to fix my internet so hopefully my lives will suck less um well I'm still on them but the internet portion of it will suck less
96. 14:15uh did I realize did you realize the monolith in space 2001 is meant to be a solid state super AI that that gave
97. 14:23mankind oh that's interesting I did not know that but wait I sorry someone asked me a question about geospatial something and I lost it
98. 14:31oh oh wait here we go okay GIS applications of generative AI coming around I'm in the geospatial industry but not hearing it
99. 14:41um I think generative AI like think of think of generative AI as a as a data interpretation layer or data synthesis not it's not synthesis
100. 14:53it's it's interpretation and sort of repackaging it's incredibly good at um understanding data and helping you make sense of it so yeah
101. 15:05I think it will be coming I thank you very much that is a lovely heart lovely art I appreciate that um
102. 15:15pay attention this is for tired Runner I I don't run at all because it makes me tired so I appreciate your name but I'm
103. 15:23not going to join you on a jog as evidenced you know by this um pay attention so so let me show you something when when you get
104. 15:37um chat GPT Plus when you pay the 20 bucks a month basically so hmm you get GPT 3.5 which is fast and you
105. 15:50get gpt4 which is good uh slower but really powerful and then you you if you turn on the beta features there's
106. 15:57there's two additional beta features you've got default which is the thing we've played with already you've
107. 16:04got internet connected chat GPT right so they're using Bing search and then you get plugins there's a
108. 16:11there's a fourth mode that I don't have access to yet called code interpreter um it's it's in some sort of you know
109. 16:19limited pre-alpha right now I'm hoping I get access to it soon but it but if you're in GIS stuff what code
110. 16:25interpreter does is you can upload data sets to it like you know like 100 megabytes spreadsheet of data and then you can just ask it um
111. 16:34what's interesting about this data and it will tell you and then you can say what are Trends are there any anomalies in the data
112. 16:41um creative visualization of this trend versus this trend on a plot of the United States where each state is
113. 16:48represented by the height of the Delta between like whatever I don't know enough about [ __ ] data analytics but
114. 16:54you ask it that and it will write you a python application generate that map and hand it back to you so I think that and
115. 17:01that's just kind of the generic code interpreter tool that's coming so when you connect that with the open AI API
116. 17:08and you can start to call that stuff on the back end um there are going to be all sorts of insane um applications for every industry but
117. 17:19yeah I would think that GIS is going to be right down the pipe of that [ __ ] is there a link shortener
118. 17:26plug-in for chat GPT I don't think so but maybe uh you know what let's go look we'll go to plugins
119. 17:40so so if you have plugins installed or if you have plugins enabled um you scroll down to the bottom here and you go to the plugin store
120. 17:51it's always fun to check how many have they added since yesterday so there are 67 times four plug-ins but they have a
121. 18:02search here so we will search for link reader Access Link chat with PDF nft news Roundup and speech speech key so no doesn't look
122. 18:18like they have a link shortener I don't know why you would need one like I don't need to shorten links in chat EBT I need
123. 18:24to expand them like go read my link go go read the content beyond the link already ahead of us awesome uh do you
124. 18:34realize the monolith was a solid state super AI given to mankind that's cool I did not know that I knew that the bone turned into a
125. 18:45spaceship [Laughter] all right from catastrophic disaster like asteroid perhaps AI has already recreated Us in humans have
126. 18:58people are too sensitive to disinfo AGI could trick us AGI can trick us idiot politicians trick us they just lie to
127. 19:06our faces and we're like awesome I believe it uh we don't need AGI for that oh but I'll tell you what um this is going to be a [ __ ]
128. 19:17wild wild election the 2024 election in America is going to be a [ __ ] [ __ ] show you wait till you you wait till you see
129. 19:27the the Deep fakes of you know politicians French kissing gorillas at the zoo with their mistress of course he did it there's video um
130. 19:38it's going to be it's going to be wild um basic program that's crazy good um lived other planets have you thought
131. 19:45of this type of theory I try I try to keep my theories on this planet because it just makes my head hurt to like I try
132. 19:54to not go to the dystopian future and I try not to go too far down the you know we're all living in a simulation because
133. 20:01it feels real enough to me if it were simulation ah look at that another heart huh uh if it were a simulation you'd think they would
134. 20:11I don't know they wouldn't put all this pain and destruction in there although I guess that could be entertaining

154. 23:29contextual menu that pops up and what it says to the left here I wonder if I can zoom my screen plus won't do it will it no um
155. 23:39it says generative fill so if I click on that I can type in a prompt like I could say I wanted him wearing red shorts or
156. 23:46something like that but I'm just going to leave it blank and let's just see what it does so we're going to say generate

158. 24:06sort of worked it didn't go all the way to the bottom that was weird and there's there's a really wrinkly version of it come on Focus

172. 26:33we went from mid-journey where we generated some Navy dude in a kind of landscape format to a disturbingly
173. 26:41surreal surreal picture so imagine that's Joe Biden and you know that's him that's the animal he's kissing at the
174. 26:48zoo that's what we're going to be seeing in the in the 2024 elections oh my God comedy thanks Mark Norman all right oh

182. 28:09name is Kyle Shannon this is the AI learning lab um I'm an entrepreneur and a an AI fanatic um a generative AI fanatic I've been
183. 28:19kind of deep diving in this for a year so I'm one of those guys um but but I I do come with a little bit
184. 28:25of uh relevant background I was there for the early days of the World Wide Web I started one of the early digital
185. 28:31agencies so I've been through one of these waves before and um this one this one feels like one of those and it feels
186. 28:37um more significant and and dramatically faster so I think the impact of generative AI is going to be way more
187. 28:45profound than the world wide web and that was pretty [ __ ] profound um and I think it's coming a lot faster
188. 28:50than any of us are prepared for and so those URLs are uh like chat GPT and just things to go play with so that's that's
189. 28:59what this is all about if you're new here I wonder what kind of jobs would work into this I'm 36 no career so I want to do something
190. 29:07okay Molly start just seriously go to chat.openai.com start learning start playing um start with what I call parlor tricks
191. 29:20like have it write You song lyrics have it write you poems stories um and then start to have it solve problems for you so
192. 29:30um if you're looking for a job have it write you cover letters copy and paste your resume in there a job description
193. 29:35in there and tell it to write you a professional cover letter for for you know to send send off to get a job
194. 29:43um have it create a shopping list for you or a meal plan and then a shopping list um start using it and and start learning
195. 29:51it and then what I would say is take the things that you're passionate about that you're really into and figure out how
196. 29:58you can use these tools to do that thing and then you can start to figure out okay what's some problem in the world
197. 30:05that I can solve so I kind of jokingly I make fun of people that are like you can make money um you don't make money with chat gbt chat
198. 30:16gbt is just a tool right you make money with Photoshop but you don't you know you don't see videos like how to make
199. 30:22money with Photoshop well you do but you should ignore them um how you make money is you find a problem people have you solve it in an
200. 30:30elegant way or a compelling way and they pay you money for it and that's what all businesses are all right that call out with the back
201. 30:37end with AI I don't know it sounded like something I said was funny I don't know what it was oh [ __ ] they're coming for me [Music]
202. 30:47[Laughter] all right we're good when is code interpreter coming I'm with you vad I'm I'm ready for it now damn it
203. 30:57would you have thought we'd have ai when you were 18 no and I like I didn't think we'd have I mean I mean here's the deal
204. 31:07people have been talking about machine learning and AI kind of decently loudly for 10 or 15 years and and you know I'd heard about
205. 31:19it before then you know IBM had Watson Health that kind of flamed out excuse me um and and you know for the past decade you
206. 31:31know a lot of Engineers I'm you know I've talked to her like you know chat Bots are gonna be it chat Bots are going
207. 31:36to be it and every [ __ ] chat bot I saw was just this dramatic disappointment because they were all just logic trees they're all sort of
208. 31:43manually coded you know by people you know putting in a lot of hours to try to get things these things to behave and
209. 31:50the minute you kind of go off whatever The Logical rails are they just fall apart so they've just been horrible
210. 31:56and you know I started [ __ ] around with stable diffusion and then I started playing with dream booth and I'm like oh
211. 32:03these things are really interesting and I was playing a little bit with gpt3 and I sort of got it but I sort of didn't
212. 32:10get it and then Chachi PT came out and it just was [ __ ] different and it why it was different was it it did for
213. 32:18machine learning and AI what the web did for the internet it it made it accessible to real human beings you could just it
214. 32:26was just like a Google search bar but you put in you know simple inputs and you got back remarkable outputs and it's
215. 32:32just gotten better and better and and because of the rapid adoption of of chat GPT so much investment and so much of the
216. 32:41developer Community is pouncing on all this stuff so so the rate of acceleration of of technical breakthroughs is [ __ ] mind-blowing
217. 32:51and and you know my my first Epiphany with chat gbt was I sat down my wife was watching some crappy TV show and I said
218. 33:01I said oh I heard that chat GPT can code and let me let me try it you know write me a python script and it did and then I
219. 33:08was like I don't know how to run python and so it taught me how to run a python script and then it taught me how to
220. 33:14install libraries and then within 90 minutes I'd written a very sophisticated python application that generated social
221. 33:22media content out of some inputs like it was it was really cool in 90 minutes I've never written a line
222. 33:27of python in my life and I'm like this is different this is this is a fundamentally different thing than we've seen before
223. 33:35um so no I couldn't have imagined it and holy [ __ ] here we are when I was 18 I couldn't have imagined the World Wide Web right
224. 33:44we we didn't our computers had to call up other computers and you could watch the text type across the screen like that's
225. 33:52that's how early I was although I'll tell you a funny story so my friends Scott buchard and I he had a he had a an
226. 34:00apple II I think I think that was the one we were playing I think we were playing on an Apple II and he had like a
227. 34:05300 mod modem and we got a list of other computers that you could call and we found um one of the one of the computers on
228. 34:15the list was a mall in North Carolina so we logged into the we dialed into this mall in North Carolina and we logged into the
229. 34:24um the the the systems of the mall and so we reversed the direction of the escalators and we turned the heat up to
230. 34:3299. so ah hacking in the 70s there was no security on anything it was pretty funny ah so I'm sure the folks in the mall got
231. 34:44a little warm that day and the up escalator was suddenly going the wrong way all right I lived on Mars for 15 000 years it's
232. 34:55all the same I know yeah exactly People Are People Are People they're just they're just okay our entire political system is out of hand

290. 43:27internet so it rewrote write a song about a cowboy to compose a musical piece that narrates the story of a skilled Horseman
291. 43:38who typically works on a ranch often wearing a wide brimmed hat and Boots who is known for his bravery Independence
292. 43:46and adventurous spirit so and then it you know then it writes the song and it's it's about some adventurous flipping Cowboy
293. 43:56um so I think short term prompt libraries are interesting but in the end I think all of that stuff is gonna is gonna sort of drift into the
294. 44:07background all the complexity of these tools right now they're complex right now because they're so new um and and you know the there hasn't
295. 44:16been enough work put into the interface and like Chachi BT was written in two weeks um they've since improved it
296. 44:23dramatically but they they wrote it and released it in two weeks um so you know Sam Altman for a while
297. 44:29was saying it's shitty piece of software it's bad software um that's why it's bad software because it was rushed out um
298. 44:36so I don't I don't think it's good long time long term to have a prompt library but there's there's something around

304. 45:27powerful results out of chat GPT without having to you know learn how to program with with whatever their native language is

450. 1:08:51the editors at the New York Times thought that would make an awesome uh front page article so it made the cover
451. 1:08:59of the New York Times so Microsoft went on on ahead and lobotomized Sydney and uh really dumbed it down and like for
452. 1:09:08there was like a while there you could only do like five prompts and then it would lock you out and it's much better

482. 1:13:37and mid-journey um choosing one of four photos in mid-journey bringing it into Photoshop expanding the canvas deciding that I
483. 1:13:46didn't just want a Navy man in the 40s in Times Square but I wanted him with a furry so even though this was all AI generated
484. 1:13:54it was you know human intention behind it right like AI didn't decide to make a [ __ ] furry picture I did so
485. 1:14:05so one issue is you've got and then and then Japan just decided they're not going to enforce any copyright claims on
486. 1:14:13you know if you if you say hey AI stole my [ __ ] Japan basically just said [ __ ] it we're not dealing with any of it
487. 1:14:21so so ever everyone's trying to sort of figure out where the boundaries are nobody knows where the boundaries are so
488. 1:14:27that's that's one issue it's just you know you know can you copyright things the other issue is on the attribution
489. 1:14:33and compensation side these models with the exception of adobe the the image models but even um you know chat gbt on the language
490. 1:14:41side were trained on massive amounts of data that of course included work by artists that you know they didn't have permission to use
491. 1:14:51um but it was out there on the public internet so you know if so if a photographer had a website like I had a website
492. 1:15:00um that was up so my my photographs are probably in chat EPT somewhere or in you know mid-journey and stable diffusion somewhere um
493. 1:15:10one of the misconceptions is that these models are copying and pasting other people's work it's not how they work
494. 1:15:17they they are generating original new content like from a pixel level but it was trained on other people's work and
495. 1:15:25if you explicitly call out a famous artist like Greg grutkowski it'll make [ __ ] that looks like his work and that
496. 1:15:32you know potentially threatens his livelihood um but who do you sue do you sue the model Builders do you sue the person
497. 1:15:39that made the art do you sue the the company that they made the art for that paid them to make the art um so
498. 1:15:47who who wins in all of this in the next 20 years are the IP attorneys they're going to get [ __ ] rich
499. 1:15:54and then it will it will work itself out you know we'll figure out I I think how adobe's approaching this is really smart
500. 1:16:01um you know they trained everything on on public domain and and things that they owned rights to and they're they're
501. 1:16:08giving artists the ability to opt out opt-in um they're going to do attribution they're probably going to do

509. 1:17:06being telling their story and that that video hasn't been modified right and that you know that video could be shared around and if there's
510. 1:17:15attribution or if there's compensation tied to that um that could be carried in the smart contract so so I think I think there's
511. 1:17:22all sorts of interesting interesting ways for for authenticity and verification and monetization um that that when you roll it together a
512. 1:17:32generative AI could be really interesting what will be happening in chat EVT a year from now holy [ __ ] I don't know
