8. 1:09I figured it out enough I got you know I got a couple of channels got some followers uh yeah I'm doing lives I got a a large
9. 1:19uh beverage and a water I live in Denver Colorado where you need to drink water like it's your [ __ ] job all right

14. 2:19left it's 93.75 nuggets they're killing excuse me so chat GPT is off surfing the internet right now and it's
15. 2:30cool you can open up this little panel and it'll show you what you did it rewrote my prompt it went over to some site
16. 2:39it read the content it finished doing it and it was it's 93.72 so Yeah so basically they cut it got the
17. 2:48the score right they're in the lead with eight minutes and 28 seconds left in the fourth quarter so the stream is laggy Ah that's because
18. 2:55of [ __ ] Xfinity is it pretty bad is it still bad um how to make videos with word prompts I'll show you that in a bit I just did
19. 3:05that on my previous I was live like 10 minutes ago and I showed that and it was a little frustrating because people were
20. 3:11like what are you doing I was showing all these tools um but I can show you what tools to to do it with
21. 3:20so so these were the tools that I just demoed like 10 minutes ago so I went to Mid journey and I created an image then
22. 3:27I went to open Ai and created a script to train my voice with I told it that I wanted it to give me a script that that had all the different
23. 3:36things that would train a voice synthesis model then I went to elevenlabs.io and you have to you have to pay for that but you can synthesize
24. 3:45your own voice and then I took the image from mid-journey went to did and it animates the image with the voice
25. 3:52that was created at 11 Labs so that's what those things were and that's how I did that uh welcome everybody my name is Kyle Shannon this

28. 4:19kind of deep diving in AI for the past year um I am not a machine learning expert I'm not an AI expert I'm I'm more an
29. 4:27entrepreneur and I guess a business Expert um I'm a Storyteller by training I started one of the first digital agencies in the mid 90s a
30. 4:39company called agency.com and got to experience what it was like to to watch a Zion Modern Family oh what's that
31. 4:48guy's name that's that's someone that's that's been that I've been so okay so I got tell me what that guy's name is I
32. 4:57forget what he's like so I've been called I look like Rosie O'Donnell um fat Alec Baldwin um Philip Seymour Hoffman
33. 5:06um skinny John Goodman now the guy from from Modern Family uh this is good this is good and then some version of Jack
34. 5:13Nicholson if I didn't have my glasses on that's pretty good again my my trolls here are sort of compliments

39. 6:07was initially developed by Robert Bosch in the 80s the can protocol defines a set of rules and standards differential signal signaling um
40. 6:20so act as a can networking specialist and give me a Five Point
41. 6:34plan to learn the basics as quickly as possible
42. 6:51one study the Fundamentals by understanding the basic principles familiar side of you know familiarize
43. 6:58yourself sorry the tongue just gave up on me there familiarize yourself with the key components of the cam Network

48. 7:56us a real link well that one's broken uh uh can automation is this one broken no that one is there can for newcomers
49. 8:08and beginners online English there you go so yes I mean the so so here's here's my my my strong strong advice if you
50. 8:18haven't played with these tools go play with them go start doing what I just did almost think of the the chat
51. 8:28GPT as you know someone gave you an intern that happens to be really [ __ ] smart at everything and and go ask it
52. 8:35what you would ask me here so chat.openai.com is where chat EBT is if you don't want to pay for that and you
53. 8:43want it connected to the internet then go to the second link there which is bing.com so that's free gpt4 connected to the internet
54. 8:50okay what do I think about about an AI prompt engineer I think um I think for some amount of time we're
55. 8:58going to need people that understand how to ask these tools for what they want so like the critical thinking piece and
56. 9:08the strategy piece is really important that's going to stay important the the amount of kind of pla plain language programming that you
57. 9:22need to do right now is is really overly complicated these tools are kind of new and raw and so because of that you kind
58. 9:28of need to understand this prompt engineering thing I do not think it would be a bad thing at all to learn the skills of being a
59. 9:35good prompt engineer I think probably within a year you won't have to be one as much because they'll it'll all sort
60. 9:41of drift behind really cool interface but right now it's it's a good it you know it's it's kind of like I feel like
61. 9:47this prompt engineering right now is like learning the fundamentals of math knowing that the calculator is coming
62. 9:52right these tools are going to get incredibly sophisticated very very quickly so you're not going to need to
63. 9:58do prompt engineering two years from now um but but knowing how to do it in the next two years is going to serve you very
64. 10:06well whoever ties these app functions together in oh God damn you Tick Tock whoever ties these app functions
65. 10:13together in one app is going to win big I agree there's and I think uh chat gbt might be might be the ones to do it they'll at least try
66. 10:21um but you're starting to see that with things like Auto GPT these autonomous agents where they're taking multiple tools and having them
67. 10:29um uh sort of prompt one another and call one another um the the plug-in architecture with chat CPT is really interesting I can
68. 10:37show that if anyone's interested um if you're new here it looks like some new people just joined my name is Kyle

71. 10:58my company I have an 11 year old video technology company and I'm learning everything I can about AI because I
72. 11:05think it is going to disrupt every single profession and quickly I think it's coming faster than we know Cameron Tucker is that the dude on

78. 12:03know one of the things they teach you in acting school is to read the room right empathy so look at people's faces if they're
79. 12:10open and engaged and having a good time I'm a little looser if they're uptight and look like this then I get you know more straightforward
80. 12:20um but welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome all righty I was studying python coding till this came out I've now changed to
81. 12:29more of a coding manager that's really interesting Tyler yeah and I think that I think that that's going to be the move I I think that
82. 12:38anyone who can recognize that the the Tactical execution of like the Tactical execution of coding that's going to get
83. 12:46automated away but the thinking about you know the management of the project and not project management but like like
84. 12:54what are the what are the code pieces that we need and using these tools to automate you know big chunks of the
85. 13:02execution of the tool and then you're thinking critically about okay how do we stitch those together and what works and what doesn't
86. 13:08that's the that's the critical skill so I I don't know how how old or young you are but I'm I'm assuming you're a bit
87. 13:15younger I think what you're doing right there is a really good move that feels very right to me I feel like we're
88. 13:21shifting from a world where virtuosos got got rewarded so if you were really good at coding if you were really good
89. 13:29at illustration if you were really good at at whatever the skill was you got rewarded and then and then you would get
90. 13:35promoted up into management where you know you you became you know kind of a a useless suit right um I I think we're moving into a world
91. 13:45that's going to reward horizontal thinkers like conductors think you know the conductor of the orchestra rather than the solo violinist
92. 13:55um I I'm like my tentative name for what we're going through right now is Revenge of the liberal arts major I I think
93. 14:02people that can think laterally across disciplines are going to do really well with these new tools what made AI possible oh gosh many many
94. 14:11things um neural networks the the thing that that is the the primary driver of this modern this current wave that it so so it seems like
95. 14:23like AI just showed up right like all of a sudden everyone's talking about it why so the the the the the piece of technology
96. 14:32that started this whole wave that that culminated you know really kicked off on November 30th 2022 with chat GPT
97. 14:41launching that was the the day that chat EPT launched I will I will put my flag in the ground that's the day that everything changed
98. 14:50um 2017 Google wrote this paper released a paper called attention is all you need and they reverse they they release this
99. 14:57concept of a thing called the Transformer so it's called chat GPT the GPT stands for generative pre-trained
100. 15:06Transformer so the Transformer piece of that what it basically did was it allowed these machine learning models to be
101. 15:13trained on massive data sets rather than kind of small specialized data sets so Ai and machine learning have been around
102. 15:20for decades right we've had neural networks forever and and then uh Jeffrey Hinton did some work in the I think 80s
103. 15:27maybe 90s that became foundational kind of work for this stuff but the 2017 paper attention is all you need the
104. 15:34Transformer comes out it allows these things to be trained on massive data sets so open AI was one of the companies
105. 15:41that said hey this is really interesting and what they discovered was the more data they threw at it and the more
106. 15:48compute power they threw through at these machine learning models with the Transformer the better it got and so
107. 15:54they created gpt1 and then gpt2 and then in 2020 they launched gpt3 and that made a little bit of buzz it was like hey
108. 16:03there's this there's this you know chat GPT model or there's this there's this gpt3 model that that um you know does this call and response
109. 16:13stuff that seems really impressive and so people started talking about it back then the Transformer is also kind of the
110. 16:21foundational technology sitting underneath mid-journey and stable diffusion in Dali the image generation
111. 16:26tools it's the cortex you know the core enabling text sitting underneath music generation and the animation and the
112. 16:33video making tools it's it's it's it's it's it's the thing that that is the thing here's what's ironic Google invents it
113. 16:40I think they quickly realize that if they created something like chat GPT it fundamentally threatens their search
114. 16:47business because their their business is predicated on you doing a search and them giving you 50 or 60 links that
115. 16:56people pay to have those links show up higher in the thing if they just give you the answer that kind of blows up
116. 17:01their business model so they they kind of slow rolled it and mothballed it and sort of kept it back but they released this paper
117. 17:08and so all these other companies started playing with these Transformer things and and what happened on November 30th was
118. 17:16Sam Altman gave his Tech Team two weeks to build chat gbt now why did he do that I I don't know this for sure but this is my supposition
119. 17:26Microsoft was about to announce that they made a billion dollar investment in chat GPT so I think Sam Altman wanted
120. 17:32something that was a little more consumer friendly than their developer tools and in the documentation of gpt3
121. 17:39it had been out there for like a year and a half in the documentation where the instructions for how to build chat
122. 17:44GPT and Sam Altman assumed someone would build it nobody built it so Microsoft's getting ready to make this big
123. 17:51announcement and Sam says to his developers you have two weeks to develop chat gbt just go build it and we'll
124. 17:57launch it so so that we have something to point to when Microsoft makes this big announcement so they launch it and
125. 18:04it got to a million users in five days and it got to a hundred million users in six weeks and that is the sort of
126. 18:12Cambrian explosion that put these incredibly powerful machine learning models in the hands of mere mortals like us
127. 18:23all right so let me go find some other questions here I just got jumbled around Rosie's on live right now FYI send her my way
128. 18:36I'd like to meet her uh she's she's My Doppelganger or I'm her doppelganger apparently I hadn't made the connection but you
129. 18:47know it's kind of funny [Laughter] uh being a good promption engineer goes hand in hand with asking good questions
130. 18:55that's actually really good point I think that the quality of results you get is absolutely you know in direct
131. 19:02proportion to the quality of questions you ask so um if Chachi BT is giving you crap that's because you're a bad question ask
132. 19:10her think critically one of the things that really helps with um chat GPT is giving it context and it
133. 19:18and it seems weird because again Google trained us for decades to put in the most minimal um kind of Search terms and then they
134. 19:27would go find the answers right it it if you put in too much in Google it kind of mucked it up right
135. 19:34cheept is kind of the opposite like I'll often say I want you to act like this kind of expert and then here's what I'm
136. 19:43up to I've got an idea for a screenplay and it's going to involve this kind of character and this kind of elements and
137. 19:50I really don't know much about um story structure can you give me you know two or three story structure Frameworks and then and then I start
138. 19:59going back and forth with it I'm giving it a lot of context and all of that context it gets better and better and
139. 20:05better the more context you give it have I tried gen 1 or Gen 2 from one way so cool yeah so gen 1 and Gen 2 from one Runway
140. 20:13um are text to video um prompt engines they only generate I think it's three seconds right now but you type in like you know a penguin
141. 20:22ice skating on a pond and it'll generate three seconds of a penguin ice skating on a pond if you look at the output of those
142. 20:30videos right now they're a little flickery and they don't have sometimes they don't have coherence where like
143. 20:36someone's face will be like this and all of a sudden it'll go like you know um but if if you kind of go back a year ago
144. 20:43and look at the images that were being generated with generative AI they had very similar qualities so a year from
145. 20:49now that gen 1 and Gen 2 stuff is going to be remarkable because they'll probably be doing 15 or 20 or you know
146. 20:56minute long clips and they're going to have dramatic coherence so yeah the the video stuff's really cool and and and
147. 21:05if you're if you're playing around with this stuff right now the industry so here's one of the parallels back to the
148. 21:10day early days of the web in the early days of a new of a new pile of Technologies like this what happens
149. 21:17is developers start developing little micro Services little micro tools like so gen 1 is making these little videos
150. 21:23and and 11 Labs can synthesize your voice and did can make an animation and mid-journey can make pictures and catch
151. 21:32EBT can make words right now they're all these disparate tools what will happen is developers are going to increasingly
152. 21:38start rolling these Technologies together and putting really interesting front ends on them so probably a year from now
153. 21:46um there will still be lots and lots of tools but there will start to be the equivalent of like the Adobe suite of
154. 21:54tools that you know just do lots and lots of stuff and if you have not played with uh the generative AI the generative
155. 22:03fill in Photoshop that's amazing I can show you that if you want um why won't we need prompts in two
156. 22:10years because the the the the tools that are being built are are going to take minimal input and they're going to build
157. 22:20sophisticated prompts for you on the back end you won't see it you don't need to see it um there's a one and I'll go show that to you so
158. 22:30so if you haven't seen the plugins for for chat gbt you've got GPT 3.5 and then you got gpt4 if you've got the beta
159. 22:38features turned on which you turn on in your settings um you've got browse with Bing which is chat GPT connected to the internet and
160. 22:45then you've got plugins and the the one plug-in I've got activated right now is called prompt perfect and and so watch
161. 22:52what this does if you type the word perfect as your first word and then you type in a shitty prompt um make me a poem about
162. 23:07um a rain cloud that's about as generic as it gets it's a horrible prompt it'll give me a horrible answer but when I hit that
163. 23:17because I put perfect in front of it it's now going to fire off this this plugin called prompt perfect
164. 23:25in theory there it goes so it fired it off and now I can watch what it does so it took my crappy little
165. 23:32um prompt it sent it off to its service and now it's going to reply with a a much better written prompt
166. 23:40in Theory come on prompt perfect do your thing come on you can do it that's a good little internet ah there we go so it wrote craft a poem
167. 23:54that vividly portrays the essence of a rain cloud capturing its characteristics movements and impact on the environment
168. 24:01use descriptive language and imagery to create a sensory experience for the reader evoking emotions and thoughts
169. 24:08like the prompt itself is almost poetic right and then and so and now the the poem that's a result of that in the
170. 24:15realm where the sky meets the Earth the rain cloud takes a gentle birth a wisp of gray touch of blue blah blah so so
171. 24:23like this this kind of technology is is good is going to be built into a lot of these tools and then and then you know on top of
172. 24:33that we'll be put put interface where you'll have buttons to push and pull down menus and things like that so so
173. 24:39you'll start to see more specialized tools but all this prompting will drift into the background so there will be
174. 24:44there will likely be prompt Engineers but a lot of the core prompt engineering is going to be done by the tools
175. 24:49themselves just like a lot of the coding is going to be done by you know um co-pilot and things like that
176. 24:57um oh it looks like we've got some new people here my name is Kyle Shannon this is the AI learning lab I'm trying to
177. 25:02answer all the questions as they come in um I I really do try to answer everyone's questions what that means is
178. 25:07that I can't see the current questions so so if this if it seems like I'm a bot that's not answering questions I'm just
179. 25:14answering older questions because I'm an older guy um if you've not played with chat GPT that's that's the URL the very top one
180. 25:22there chat.openai.com go play with it right now while you listen to me ramble okay I'm waiting till it can read my
181. 25:29wavy hands I want to be a gesture engineer I am uh my nickname and my company is I'm the hand wavy guy and my
182. 25:35my co-founder is the person that keeps the trains running on time so yeah the new um Apple um what's it called Vision Pro
183. 25:44um read your hands so that has arrived there that their technology the technology in those goggles is mind-bending I heard someone told me
184. 25:56there's 5 000 patents in those goggles five thousand patents they've been developing it for nine years
185. 26:02it will disrupt everything ride the tech wave yeah that's kind of where I feel like right now is the tsunami is coming
186. 26:08and I would much rather be on the surfboard than in a cozy little beach cottage right now um would love your input on AI and
187. 26:16education Khan Academy so I think um if you haven't played with Khan Migo a Khan Academy just so so Khan Academy
188. 26:26um is a is an educational website they talk about flipping the classroom where people kids can or students can learn
189. 26:34outside of the classroom and then you can use the classroom for engaging with students in a more personal way
190. 26:41um they rolled out I think three weeks ago now two or three weeks ago a thing called conmigo which is built on top of
191. 26:48gpt4 so so Khan Academy was given access to gpt4 back in August and they spent six months prompt engineering and so
192. 26:57conmigo is basically a tutor it's a it's a chat CPT tutor that will walk someone through a lesson and if they if if the
193. 27:05student just asks it for an answer it won't just give them an answer it will do Socratic reasoning with them
194. 27:12um to walk them through it so I think it's absolutely [ __ ] brilliant my thoughts on AI and education is it's
195. 27:18going to completely massively disrupt it and I think that any University any any school but particularly universities
196. 27:25this is unacceptable but I would say even high schools anyone that's resisting it right now is being incredibly short-sighted this is going
197. 27:33to be core technology that's going to live in all the tools that all businesses use within a very short amount of time so
198. 27:42the universities that are embracing it and trying to figure it out and going [ __ ] it it's going to be here let's
199. 27:46learn how to work within this what's happening is those professors are bringing chat EPT into the classroom and
200. 27:54it's it's it's transforming their engagement with the students where they're having to flip over to critical
201. 27:59thinking where they where they're like okay if these tools are going to be here let's have chatgpt write the paper and
202. 28:06then we'll take the paper that it wrote and and we're going to have you criticize the paper and we're going to
203. 28:12have you analyze it and where did it get things wrong and where did it have you know bad arguments that you would have
204. 28:18done better and how would you have done it better and so there so the teachers that are embracing this are actually
205. 28:23flipping into in my opinion a much higher level of Education where they're they're engaging with critical thinking so seems to me
206. 28:32that's that's the way to go so but but I think it's going to be incredibly disruptive are there any ways to make money from chat gbt or
207. 28:41or the ads or or wait are the ads or just a waste of time and money okay so anyone any Tick Tock Channel
208. 28:50any AD any YouTube video that looks or sounds like this YouTube can make money with a run like the [ __ ] wind do not engage
209. 29:01with so so here's the deal you can make money with chat gbt you can also make money with Photoshop you can
210. 29:08make money with a shovel you can make money with a sewing needle and some thread catch apt is just a tool it's just a
211. 29:18tool now it happens to be one of the most powerful tools in the history of mankind so if you learn to use it well
212. 29:25you're going to be able to do things faster and better than someone else but how you make money is you solve problems
213. 29:32from people so like what I would say is what are you good at what are you passionate about where do you see a
214. 29:38problem that you're like I know how to fix that and then what I would do is start to use chat GPT to fix that
215. 29:45problem start to teach yourself how to fix that problem using chat gbt because chat EBT will do things faster but it's
216. 29:53just a tool you're the one that needs to solve the problem you're the one that needs to figure out how to communicate
217. 29:58that solution out to the world in such a way that someone's willing to go yeah I got that problem here's my cash right
218. 30:05that's how you make money you solve the problem you entertain them with a cool t-shirt you um I don't know figure out a way to help
219. 30:13them write a better marketing plan and and if you can use chat EPT to do that faster then you can have 10 clients
220. 30:19instead of two right so so you can absolutely make money with this but avoid the You've Got My Mind for one thing aren't those people
221. 30:29[ __ ] annoying how do you listen to them all right Khan Academy conmigo is great I did a trial for for one month yeah it's pretty amazing

224. 30:55them out too I've been Denver Colorado by the way um I'm an entrepreneur and a uh an AI Optimist I would say I am not a Doomer I
225. 31:06do not think the robots are gonna kill us I think these are tools and I think we can get our heads around them I do
226. 31:11think there'll be some bad [ __ ] that happens but I don't think it'll be catastrophic this reminds me a bit of the shift from
227. 31:17our coding to Sak sdks and apis ai's the next step yeah it's very much it I mean it's what I'm hearing is that the shops
228. 31:26the the engineering shops that are adopting um co-pilot are seeing 30 to 40 percent productivity increases so you know what
229. 31:36that allows it's going to allow your engineers to operate at a higher level do better critical thinking do better
230. 31:41work hit deadlines better so um 30 to 40 percent is a pretty significant increase for as raw as these tools are right now is it accurate to
231. 31:50say that there is concern that AI could eventually set its own goals that is accurate to say and that's why you know governments and
232. 32:00companies and people need to start taking this stuff seriously the the challenge right now is um there there's open source large language
233. 32:11models So Meta inadvertently or not I don't know if it's inadvertent or if they oops you know oops let it slip
234. 32:21um but their llama models were were essentially given to someone in the dev community that just [ __ ] gave them to
235. 32:27everyone so so there's now open source large language models out there that don't have any guard rails on them so
236. 32:34bad actors are going to do some bad [ __ ] with those powerful tools but the companies like Microsoft and open Ai and
237. 32:41Google and things like that you know they need to start treating this responsibly and you know there's going
238. 32:46to be bad actors that have access to these powerful tools but then there's going to be good actors that have access
239. 32:51to these powerful tools and if we have enough people like us that are using these tools for good it will have a
240. 32:58disproportionately positive impact on the future in my opinion I think sg's really missed its era imagine if it had AI I know oh yeah all
241. 33:08of all of the search engines that you know you know did this with indexing I mean a lot of AI has been in
242. 33:15our search engines for a long time the difference here is this accessibility to real people um it's not behind the scenes anymore
243. 33:24um and that's the that's exciting Google is toast I I don't know if Google is toast but they are certainly on their [ __ ] heels and

276. 38:03be ingested into this massive system so where does one go for a One-Stop shop for prompts that's prompts.chat is is at
277. 38:12least a beginning there's lots of other places to do it I don't think you need to pay for you know um prompt collections because things are

290. 40:03class and and on every desk in math class was a TRS-80 computer and so I learned basic programming on that and as I learned what these
291. 40:13remarkable machines could do I became acutely aware that I was just too young to be like in the peer group of Steve
292. 40:23Jobs and Bill Gates like they were on the cover of magazines and I was in seventh grade and I like I just missed it and it was
293. 40:31like it was [ __ ] crushing like I just remember like this was a like a seminal moment in my life just knowing that I missed
294. 40:39like the equivalent of the printing press being there at the ground floor and then in 1994 I started learning
295. 40:46about this thing called the world wide web and I had an idea to put um an art and culture magazine up on the internet
296. 40:55and so I taught myself enough HTML and I went on a vacation with my wife and I made the first issue of this
297. 41:02magazine and then I had to learn how to upload it and I didn't know what servers were and we had dial-up modems and you
298. 41:08had to have your computer call another computer so I had my computer call a computer in California and I uploaded these files

308. 42:20those this is one of those moments and so that's why I started this channel that's why I'm here does chat gbt use public records Bing if
309. 42:30you mean is it connected to the internet it they both are Bing is connected to the internet and then if you pay for
310. 42:37chat GPT and enable the beta features yes um I recall looking through computer science journals back in the early 90s and AI
311. 42:49AI it was all abstract algebra yeah like the foundations for for what's going on in these AI models has been around for a
312. 42:58while like like you can argue it's probably 50 years you know when they started [ __ ] around with neural
313. 43:04networks and some of the algebraic stuff that that off ramp is talking about here yeah so but but the difference is so
314. 43:13similar to 1994 the difference there we we had the internet for decades the World Wide Web was the thing that turned
315. 43:21it into clicking a button instead of typing on the command line chat GPT is the thing that made it you know type in
316. 43:28the the magic search box and it you know flowers out this amazing stuff chat GPT is the equivalent of the World Wide Web
317. 43:35in that sense that machine learning and AI have been around for decades but this little magic tool is what gave us access to it
318. 43:45sounds promising this is going to be fun or that's going to be fun do I have any concerns about Bad actors using it to
319. 43:51rip off people yes in fact what did I hear today I heard one today that was really [ __ ] disturbing oh
320. 43:57I mean it's it's kind of funny but then it's really not at all it's it's gonna be [ __ ] tragic is um people are you people are basically
321. 44:06just pulling like people's images off Facebook going into mid journey and creating porn or whatever you know compromising photos and they're
322. 44:14blackmailing them and extorting them I heard that one today the other thing that I heard is um people are taking whatever it is a
323. 44:23YouTube video a synthesized voice um and they're synthesizing the voice of like a daughter and then they're having
324. 44:30the daughter call the mother and say Mom I'm in trouble I need money can you give me your credit card and so they're
325. 44:36getting ripped off that way as well so it's yeah that stuff's coming it's going to be bad I'm insisting chat GPT stop utilizing
326. 44:45wait saying utilize when it really means use oh that's funny yeah if it's uh if it's yeah if it's if it's run down a
327. 44:55particular sort of semantic Canyon it will just give you weird perverted answers or or just stuff that's that bugs you
328. 45:05all right I heard salaries for prompt Engineers are getting paid 250k I think that'll be short-lived but but I think that um
329. 45:14anyone who who's got the skills to utilize these tools well so so so if if the boss says I need to accomplish X if
330. 45:24you're the person that can say I can do that in two hours rather than the two weeks that it normally takes you're
331. 45:30going to be well paid right so so it like I would focus Less on prompt engineering as a specific role because I
332. 45:37think that will drift into the background as as these tools get more sophisticated but the ability to ask these tools for
333. 45:46specific things and get good results that's the skill right now that requires prompt engineering so so learn the skill
334. 45:52right now but be adaptive don't think that prompt engineer is gonna gonna be there as a a massive position for you know probably at least
335. 46:03a year perplexity uses gpt4 for 20 bucks is that better than buying gpt4 from openai um I just I I just played with
336. 46:13perplexity for the first time today like they're doing some interesting things like you can point it at YouTube and and
337. 46:20query YouTube things but like it couldn't find my content there so um right now because things are moving so
338. 46:30fast I I am I am defaulting to using the company that invented the tech right if perplexity is basically just
339. 46:39interface sitting on top of gpt4 I'd rather be using the interface than open ai's created until someone does
340. 46:46something you know markedly better than what chat gbt does I'm going to stick there because you know the the plug-in ecosystem is
341. 46:56there and and I don't think there's a ton of apis to access the plug-in ecosystem um and and as they update things you
342. 47:06know it's going to go into chat GPT likely before it goes into the API um and and also code interpreters coming from chat GPT so
343. 47:16I think looking at perplexity today it looks pretty good but I'm still sticking with open AI I I don't know that one's
344. 47:24better than the other I just my my gut right now is we're so early that I'm going to stick with the people that are
345. 47:29inventing it until someone knocks open AI off the mountain right like right now they're King of the mountain them and
346. 47:36Microsoft are king of the mountain because their shit's just it like they're setting the standard for all
347. 47:41this stuff When someone knocks them off that mountain and at some point they will and it could be an open source model
348. 47:47um I'll probably switch to that but listen I have Edge is my default browser and Bing is my default search
349. 47:54engine if you'd asked me six months ago if that were even a a faint possibility I would have told I would have left you at you and your face

359. 49:33um they're they're going to be I I think the assist to people with disabilities is is going to be absolutely insanely powerful and good um

361. 49:53um a guy I think he was in Italy he's been paralyzed for 12 years and they used a large language model to um
362. 50:03read his brain scan when he was thinking about moving his legs and then they created a Bluetooth bridge over the
363. 50:09injured part of his spine and they had electrodes in his lower spine and they sent the signals to the large language
364. 50:16model interpreted and that guy's now walking it's not perfect but he's on his feet walking after 12 years of paralysis
365. 50:23so I think the the disability impact is going to be dramatic and and Powerful um I'm all for a watermark on any AI

383. 54:01where's the boundary where's the boundary between that was me intending to create something and the Machine did it and so my my problem with
384. 54:13AI watermarking is that where's the boundary when when Chachi PT is rolled into Office 365 when it's just
385. 54:22sitting inside Microsoft Word when it's just sitting inside PowerPoint and Excel where's the boundary like you know what
386. 54:31is AI generated if I'm collaborating with this tool um where's the boundary so I I just I I feel like the all of the attempts to
387. 54:41keep AI in the corner which watermarking is absolutely keeping this tool in the corner it would be the equivalent of
388. 54:47saying hey you know when when digital photography came out um if if you took that on a digital camera we're gonna you're gonna have to
389. 54:58have a special Scarlet a on your forehead because you filmed with a digital camera that seems ridiculous
390. 55:04right now but that's the equivalent of what those watermarks are in my opinion all right for those of us with HDA ADHD
391. 55:12yes do lots of things at the same time faster yeah I I mean these tools are like even with ADHD I'm finding this
392. 55:20over Wellman there's it's just there's too much possibility I've had to really dial back what I'm doing because
393. 55:29I mean you could literally spend a lifetime just in chat CPT in its current state like like GPT 3.5 you could
394. 55:37literally spend a lifetime Reinventing yourself businesses and then a new tool comes out you know three come out a day some days it's it's
395. 55:51Insanity a lawyer got caught writing a brief yeah so this was good so here's a lesson and this gets back to the this
396. 55:57gets back to the you know should it have a an AI watermark on it a stamp a stamp of of uh shame the AI stamp of Shame um
397. 56:07so this lawyer has chat GPT write him a legal brief and he hands it to a judge and the judge actually checks the
398. 56:14citations in the legal brief which we're all fake because chat EBT made them up well that's not chat gpt's fault Chet GPT
399. 56:24just makes [ __ ] up like if you don't know that that's on you and if you're a [ __ ] lawyer and you don't check your
400. 56:29own work that's just bad lawyering right so so the lesson here is understand that these things are a tool understand what
401. 56:38they're good at what their limitations are and it will serve you well but if you just try to like oh [ __ ] it it'll
402. 56:44write it for me I'm gonna go smoke a doobie well you know he should be disbarred probably because that's just
403. 56:51negligence AI will become harmful once it hits Quantum level I don't know about that it may it may not um I I would take a look if if you're
404. 57:02actually interested in you know anything other than the catastrophic headline that once it gets Quantum it's going to kill us
405. 57:10um I would pay attention to a company called anthropic which is they've got the Claude model out there which if you
406. 57:16can play with the clog models in Poe that's why I have po right here anthropic has this model called the
407. 57:23Constitutional learning model where they can write a set of rules and then everything that the the AI engine
408. 57:29generates is measured against those rules so the rules might be do not hurt people right increase prosperity of people you know
409. 57:39um be accurate whatever that whatever they want the rules to be the rules can be and then when it generates an answer
410. 57:44it's scored against those rules and it will iterate until it gets it right and then it will hand it to you so I think
411. 57:50some sort of approach like that where you've got um you know maybe even blockchain verified um uh whatever that is like like review
412. 57:59and Analysis of the content um might help us from that dark future that everyone is so enamored with right now
413. 58:10um they architect the code better yeah it's I I mean architecting code debugging code we had in my app we had
414. 58:17we had a really obscure bug on one device and we couldn't figure it out it was only you know one one specific device this
415. 58:25bug showed up and the developer spent like two weeks couldn't get it and I finally said can you try chat gbt and he
416. 58:33kind of rolled his eyes at me and he threw the code and chat GPT and it instantly said you've got these two um characters
417. 58:43flipped like there was a period and a parenthesis or something that were backwards and it didn't affect anything
418. 58:48else but one device it affected and he flipped it and he goes oh this probably isn't going to work he rebuilt the app
419. 58:55and it worked right so it's amazing at that [ __ ] um I used it the other day to write a letter to a judge asking for a sentence
420. 59:01uh leniency for a co-worker that's super cool if you haven't seen there's a there's a site out there called do not pay
421. 59:10if you haven't seen that oh that's Ducks let's Google Docs that's not do not pay do not pay do not pay.com it's your
422. 59:18co-worker which good for you for doing that for your co-worker by the way um but this is a site that will like
423. 59:23fight parking tickets and speeding tickets and stuff like that um what's interesting about that and and this is the disruption that's coming
424. 59:32right so there are law firms that that's all they do is is that kind of you know small misdemeanor kind of stuff
425. 59:39that site was started by a 19 year old in his mom's basement like six years ago um so the competition isn't necessarily going
426. 59:50to come from your competitors in this new world it's going to come from people that have figured out really clever ways
427. 59:56to wield these these tools at my job we do gen AI workshops that's awesome to help art directors creatives

429. 1:00:11agency you work for like that's impressive there there's a lot of the agencies right now are resisting this

463. 1:04:47requires strategy and it requires understanding business and understanding problems and problem solving and who's
464. 1:04:54the audience and what do they value and are we giving it to them and if we're not how do we do it differently right
465. 1:04:59all the creative all that lateral thinking and that's why I think that older people are going to be in a in a
466. 1:05:06better position than younger people just because of their life experience and and the skills that are needed is those
467. 1:05:12people that can think horizontally and use these tools are going to be in demand and those could be young or old
468. 1:05:18people it doesn't mean that you know young people can't do this it's just that if young people are coming out of
469. 1:05:23school with a very vertical kind of expertise and not a lot of World Experience they're going to be at a disadvantage
470. 1:05:30because the vertical shit's going to get automated out is AI generating professional quality content anywhere
471. 1:05:36it's it's producing it everywhere what what you're what you're likely what you're likely not so so so put it this way
472. 1:05:46go to Facebook and look at the official mid-journey um Facebook group and just look at the work that's being done in there um
473. 1:05:57when you see something that an artist or a creative puts out or writer puts out even if they're using chat GPT the good
474. 1:06:06writers have gone back and forth with chat GPT 20 or 30 drafts they've then edited the like like what
475. 1:06:15what Chachi EBT can do is get you to 80 like that and then the last 20 percent sometimes chat EBT can help sometimes it
476. 1:06:22can't with mid-journey for every image I put into my art project my Kyle Shannon dreams art project I probably created 20 or 30 images that
477. 1:06:33I just threw out probably more probably it was probably like 50 to one so so there are lots of professionals um generating
478. 1:06:43a professional content with this but it's it's likely not 100 just push the button and Squid outcomes professional
479. 1:06:50content it's probably more like a professional is initiating something with this tool getting some of the raw
480. 1:06:57materials very very quickly and then turning you know refining those and turning those professionals so I think
481. 1:07:03that's going to be the model for a long long time the Transformer algorithms are basically auto-complete with more data okay great

510. 1:10:57then how long until ASI okay so so these are good questions so AGI stands for artificial general intelligence ASI
511. 1:11:07stands for artificial super intelligence definitions are not clear so so basically agis when is when the Tool
512. 1:11:16gets smarter than the smartest human I think is what it is and then Super intelligence is when the tools are smarter than all of the humans
513. 1:11:24um but it's a really imprecise definition there's a paper by Microsoft that they spent I don't know some amount of months
514. 1:11:32really testing the [ __ ] out of gpt4 and uh the paper says that it shows signs of AGI not that it has it but it shows signs of it um
515. 1:11:43so depending on your you know your definition we could be there I don't think we're there I don't think Sam
516. 1:11:49Altman thinks we're there like his mission with open AI is to get to AGI um Ray kurzweil's predicting um I think 2029
517. 1:12:02some other AI scientists 2030 so so maybe you know maybe in the next three or four years I I'm less interested in

519. 1:12:23when you really interact with chat EBT what what becomes quite clear to you is it's way [ __ ] smarter than you are

521. 1:12:38can't verify what it told you it doesn't actually have empathy but it behaves with empathetic language
522. 1:12:48and with critical thinking language and with coding Excellence sometimes sometimes it [ __ ] it up but a lot of times but really fast so
523. 1:13:02so I don't know that it's all that relevant that we cross the boundary I think what we need to recognize is it is right now
524. 1:13:10like the most remarkable augmentation of the human brain that we that that we've ever had access to right now today

536. 1:15:09reason it stopped at September 2025 is it's incredibly GPU and um time and resource intensive to create the base model
537. 1:15:22um all of the open source stuff that you're saying seeing they're taking base models that were already trained and
538. 1:15:27they're fine-tuning them that base model is really really expensive so I think I think open AI is probably in in the
539. 1:15:35process right now of developing the new base model I don't know when the new cutoff will be but um it'll probably remain like this but the

684. 1:36:22now no you can't because they do it kind of all at once in this massive learning training session and it takes
685. 1:36:30you know like a year and a half and millions of dollars it's it's a very labor-intensive tagging the data to to do that base
686. 1:36:39model training takes a long time but all the fine-tuning that we're doing is sitting on top of that base model and
687. 1:36:46then now that it's connected to the internet it really doesn't have that limitation anymore can I explain why the cost is so high to
688. 1:36:53operate chat EPT if it's a trained model because it still requires um lots of gpus like so when you type in your prompt
689. 1:37:05what it's doing is it's it it sends that prompt in you know into this mathematical formula and then basically it goes and looks at What's
690. 1:37:14called the latent space which is this Vector library of just all of these trillions of num number sets right each one that represents a
691. 1:37:25word grouped by semantic meaning and so it just takes a tremendous amount of compute to go filter all that even
692. 1:37:32though it's super efficient and everything it just takes lots of compute to to to go do each single request Sam
693. 1:37:39Altman said the costs were eye-watering when they first launched chat GPT can you add the plugins via bing bing
694. 1:37:48will support them Microsoft said they're going to support the same plugin architecture so those plugins are going
