4:01 hair is kind of looking like a tulip I
4:03 don't know what the [ __ ] going on up
4:05 there it's like a I got a situation it's
4:07 like a Sears robot catalog salesman
4:11 [Laughter]
4:15 situation Kyle the Sears salesman from

4:28 are no longer optional
4:33 nice shirt thank you little lunar little
4:36 solar lunar action we're going lunar
4:38 tonight we'll go with our intuitive side
4:41 our empathetic side why
4:46 not I was enough of a solar [ __ ] all
4:49 day time to be lunar let's open things
4:53 up got to balance the solar and the
4:55 lunar
4:57 people you do it's important
5:04 welcome welcome welcome if you're new
5:06 here my name's Kyle Shannon this is the
5:07 AI learning lab are they still around
5:10 the Moon yeah the Moon's still around
5:12 still
5:14 around lunar oh solar what you mean are
5:18 people that balance the solar and lunar
5:20 still around not many of them no there's
5:22 not a
5:25 lot you you can get people that uh lean
5:29 way too heavy to one side or the other
5:30 and in our country we re reward the
5:33 solar so solar [ __ ] is uh how we've
5:38 been running the uh running the joint
5:40 for a while I'm done with it but
5:43 whatever I ain't running the place I'm
5:46 just here on a Ticky Tock I'm here on
5:48 ticktock now what are we talking about
5:50 in here you know that's what I like to
5:52 know cuz uh you know sometimes I come in
5:55 here I'd like to understand what what
5:57 we're talking about or cuz here
5:59 seriously what I'm what I'm seriously
6:01 looking for here is uh I heard about
6:04 this AI stuff and uh what I heard was uh
6:07 you can make
6:09 money
6:11 yeah how how do you do that you you you
6:16 do you pay if you pay the 20 bucks do
6:18 you make the money is that how you make
6:19 the money do is it is it is it like a
6:23 like one of them pyramid schemes you pay
6:24 $20 and then and then they they give you
6:26 the money and if your downline is with
6:28 the with the upline and the you know you
6:31 you get the people in your downline and
6:32 you're in the upline and if you're
6:34 higher enough in the how how do you make
6:36 money with a chat
6:38 P I don't know I got nothing for you
6:41 people I will give you I I know the
6:43 answer to this I know the answer to the
6:45 quandry I know it and I'll give it to
6:48 you for free I'll tell you tonight you
6:50 want to know how to make money with chat
6:51 GPT huh this you can make money
6:55 with you're not going to like the answer
6:58 oh it's going to piss you
7:00 off cuz you're like I see the Tik toks
7:03 and they tell me I can make the money
7:04 with the chat
7:07 P it's not that easy people nothing's
7:10 that
7:13 easy if it were that
7:16 easy they wouldn't be making Tik Tok
7:18 videos all
7:22 right can you ask chat GPT about the
7:24 stocks financial performance sure you
7:27 can you can even upload the stack the a
7:30 Stock's historical performance in a
7:32 spreadsheet and have a due data analysis
7:34 on
7:34 it you still got to figure out when to
7:37 buy and sell here's the secret to
7:40 stocks you buy
7:43 low and you sell
7:48 High that'll be $29.95 please you just
7:51 drop that right in the right in the coin
7:53 slot I accept nickels and uh Canadian
7:58 quarters 29 .95 for that advice right
8:01 there and my chat GPT advice is better
8:03 than that like it's solid it's
8:07 solid so we're going to do that let's
8:10 just Chase 30 people out of
8:17 here how did the first hours of the
8:20 imperson event go thank you for asking
8:23 look at looking at something cool here
8:27 on and a lot of people in here hang out
8:30 there it's an online community and we
8:32 meet every other
8:33 week and buy Boeing
8:37 stock yeah buy buy the the window
8:40 manufacturer
8:42 stock they keep losing them um every
8:46 other week we have we have a meeting and
8:49 then this week starting in Denver we
8:52 started oops I I lost my double window
8:55 here there we
8:57 go um we started inperson meeting
8:59 meetings and we we sort of did them
9:01 before but not
9:02 really
9:04 um and so in celebration of our first
9:08 in-person meeting here in Denver we're
9:10 calling them AI Salon after hours and
9:13 Leah faston was on her way to California
9:16 and stopped in to um to Denver to come
9:23 to the first in-person meeting how cool
9:25 is that Leah and I started the AI Salon
9:29 in
9:30 December of
9:32 2022 December 7th
9:35 2022 and we've never met in person and
9:38 so she was there tonight so so haly
9:41 leyah I don't know if you're watching
9:42 she might it's not midnight now because
9:44 she's not on the East Coast she's in
9:45 Denver so I guess she's at her hotel so
9:47 hopefully she's
9:48 watching and uh it was really nice there
9:51 were a bunch of people there we were
9:53 just hanging out there were some new
9:54 people oh Leah's here awesome hey Leah
9:56 look at us we met in person that is is
9:59 not AI generated with her first
10:02 anniversary shirt on exactly I felt I
10:05 felt like a total total loser when I saw
10:08 she had her Salon shirt on I'm like oh I
10:10 should we my salon shirt but I
10:13 didn't but it was so great to see her so
10:16 great to see
10:17 you she's amazing she's amazing super
10:19 powerful woman and uh you know just
10:22 trying to figure out figure out her way
10:25 in this crazy ass life with this crazy
10:27 ass AI stuff like we all are
10:30 like we all are so that made me very
10:32 very happy so it it was really awesome
10:34 and so that's why we're a little late
10:37 tonight so good to see you Leah welcome
10:39 I think she's going to hang out with us
10:41 a bit
10:42 tonight she's got some cool stuff coming
10:44 up so she and Jane so she Leah runs the
10:48 the Art Guild in the AI salon and Jane
10:50 runs the writing Guild and together
10:54 they're putting together a six
10:58 week program
11:00 to basically give people morning
11:03 assignments to go to do cool stuff with
11:07 with AI like self-expression using AI is
11:10 a gateway to authentic self-expression
11:14 and it's it's super super exciting so if
11:17 you're not if you don't know what the
11:19 hell I'm talking about you're like but I
11:21 don't know what the a salon is what's
11:23 the salon is this is that where Leia
11:24 gets her hair done is that where she got
11:26 the curls in her hair at the salon no no
11:29 this is isn't that kind of Salon people
11:31 come on think French the
11:35 AI Theon it's French I don't know if
11:38 it's French but it sounds
11:42 funny it's a it's a salon like like in
11:44 the in the 19th century sense of the
11:48 word bunch of bunch of interesting
11:50 people getting together in a curated
11:52 conversation and sharing ideas and and
11:56 you know coming up with ideas and just
11:58 you know you know idea smashing so
12:00 that's what the salon
12:02 is and and it's really amazing so if you
12:05 go to that URL that is going to take you
12:08 to this link tree nope wrong link
12:11 tree it's going to take you to a link
12:13 tree this
12:17 one um and the very first link is the AI
12:21 Salon community and actually down at the
12:23 bottom is the merch store so if you
12:26 actually end up buying any merch from
12:27 the merch store that that goes to
12:28 support the Salon one of the amazing
12:31 things about the salon I think this is
12:32 you know this is I'm biased but it
12:35 doesn't cost anything this is free for
12:37 everyone um and how we do that is we've
12:39 got sponsors and we've got people that
12:42 buy things in the merch shop and
12:43 sometimes donate money and things like
12:45 that so um so you go to the AI salon and
12:49 it is a remarkable community so what my
12:53 request is if you want to check it out
12:57 and I am I'm a photo Superstar Leah is a
13:00 photo Superstar um she's amazing she's
13:03 she's been a professional artist for I
13:05 don't know 20 25 years like really
13:07 really remarkable remarkable Talent
13:11 um so when you come to the AI Salon site
13:16 what I want you to do first thing I want
13:17 you to do is I want you to go to welcome
13:19 to the
13:20 salon and I want you to check out what
13:22 we're about so see see how we're just
13:25 like you know this merry band of people
13:28 how do we put it ragtag group of Misfits
13:30 ner do Wells and miscreant that's us
13:33 heading off trying to figure out
13:34 whatever the hell's going on with this
13:36 AI stuff we're choosing to be on this
13:38 adventure together and so I want you to
13:39 go read about what we're about and I
13:42 really want you to pay attention to our
13:44 values
13:45 curiosity
13:47 generosity
13:49 exploration collaboration
13:52 inclusion and
13:54 empathy um and go read about what we're
13:56 about and if you resonate with these
13:58 values then you're going to really dig
14:00 this group and if you don't that's cool
14:01 too but these are probably not your
14:03 people and then uh and then the next
14:05 stop I'd like you to do is go to
14:08 introduce yourself and introduce
14:09 yourself take that value of generosity
14:11 and even though introducing yourself to
14:13 a bunch of strangers is [ __ ]
14:15 terrifying like do it anyway [ __ ]
14:19 it that's that's so kind of one of the
14:21 Emos of the salon is just just go just
14:24 play just play and so one of the ways
14:27 you can play is introduce yourself tell
14:29 us who you are tell us what you're up to
14:31 tell us where you are with AI even if
14:33 you're like I don't know anything about
14:35 AI I just someone told me to come here I
14:37 don't know what to
14:39 do by jingus this is so scary say that
14:44 just be authentic just introduce
14:46 yourself our request is that you use
14:48 your real name I think it's a good idea
14:50 if you include your photo if you're
14:52 comfortable doing
14:53 that why well we want to get to know
14:56 each other why because every everyone
14:59 right now who's trying to figure out AI
15:02 who's trying to get their head around
15:04 this is feeling the same way isolated
15:07 and scared and underwater and like
15:11 they're way far behind and they can't
15:13 keep up and if they as they try to keep
15:15 up it's getting even more overwhelmed
15:17 it's like the more you learn the more
15:18 you have to learn and that's what it
15:20 feels like right now and so one of the
15:23 best antidotes to that Source Camp I'm
15:27 Kelly and I'm addicted to chat GV
15:29 hi Kelly it is it's a support group this
15:33 is a support group and so if you
15:35 introduce yourself here what you'll find
15:37 is that this is a remarkable group of
15:39 people who will welcome you um and then
15:41 in the community section there's a water
15:43 cooler discussion there's a news channel
15:45 there's AI tools and resources so this
15:48 is a list that I personally maintain
15:50 that is like here's all the things that
15:53 if if you want to get AI literate where
15:55 you start in my opinion is with chat GPT
15:59 and if you can afford it if if you can
16:01 afford it in any way 20 bucks a month
16:03 chat GPD plus get the chat GPD Plus
16:06 subscription and just start learning all
16:09 of the [ __ ] that this tool can
16:11 do and
16:13 then why do that because it's the best
16:17 one right now well how do we know it's
16:19 the best I cuz I don't know
16:22 cuz if you use these things you realize
16:25 they're all sort of janky and this is
16:27 the least janky of the janky
16:29 all right and then
16:31 tomorrow apparently
16:34 supposedly in the speculation machine of
16:37 chat TMZ
16:39 apparently Google is launching Gemini
16:43 Advanced what they're calling Gemini
16:45 Advanced or Gemini Ultra is the is I
16:48 guess the code name of the of the
16:51 model apparently they're launching that
16:53 tomorrow we don't know if it's like I
16:56 haven't confirmed it I'm not a reporter
16:57 so I'm just going off with what people
16:59 on the the internets have
17:01 said and it's apparently as good or
17:04 better than chat gp4
17:07 so start out playing with chat gp4
17:10 Master it tonight and then tomorrow you
17:12 get to learn a new
17:13 [Laughter]
17:16 tool um but but also this list has got
17:19 you know lots of other large language
17:21 models to play with it's got image
17:23 generation tools like Dolly and mid
17:25 journey and Leonardo and Firefly it's
17:28 got video creation tools like Runway P
17:31 Labs um music and audio Tools 11 labs
17:34 sunno and the the batch of those and
17:37 then some 3D tools um I saw a couple of
17:40 tools on Twitter today that look like
17:42 they deserve to be on this list but I
17:44 haven't really played with them so I
17:45 haven't added them yet and then there's
17:47 also people you should follow here okay
17:49 now the other thing that we do is we've
17:51 got our own um we've got in the salon
17:54 we've got these things called guilds so
17:56 Leah runs the Art Guild I mentioned and
17:58 Jane runs the white Writers Guild Peter
18:00 Kaminsky runs AI 101 there's there's all
18:03 these different guilds here so think of
18:05 these as different sub communities
18:07 within within the salon so if you're
18:10 interested in different topics um you
18:12 can start to find your people that way
18:14 and then also we have clubs and one of
18:16 the clubs is the AI learning lab
18:18 Irregulars club and that's this group's
18:20 little private area so if you're making
18:23 images tonight uh for the club or making
18:25 jokes or trolling me or whatever you
18:27 want to do share them in the Irregulars
18:29 channel so we've got a place where we
18:31 can all go check out each other's uh
18:34 images and what we're doing tonight all
18:36 right there's some cool stuff in there
18:37 already oh that one's
18:39 nice beautiful M
18:43 networks very cool all right um yeah and
18:49 then the other thing to do here so
18:51 That's mighty Network so if you want to
18:53 share stuff tonight go to the Irregulars
18:55 Channel share stuff there um go check
18:57 out all the different areas in the in
19:00 the salon and enjoy it it's it's a it's
19:03 a remarkable community and um I feel
19:07 very lucky to be a part of it actually
19:09 because it is as it's growing it is
19:15 retaining kind of the spirit of what we
19:19 set out to create when we first started
19:22 it and you know it's been a year and
19:25 some months and we just cracked a
19:26 thousand people on this site so we've
19:29 got a th000 members on this on this uh
19:32 on the community site here and we've got
19:34 a th000 members we just hit 1,000 today
19:38 on Meetup and which is that's 14 months
19:42 old the the uh the mighty Network site
19:44 here is only like two and a half months
19:46 old so we hit we hit a thousand people
19:48 here before we hit it on Meetup which is
19:50 really cool um and and what this what
19:53 this thing becomes is it becomes a Haven
19:55 for you like as as Kelly put it hi my
19:57 name's Kelly I'm addicted to Chad gbt
20:01 it's been it's been 10 minutes since
20:03 I've made an image with
20:04 Dolly um I had a fun thing tonight um
20:09 someone came to the salon to the to the
20:11 salon After Hours the the meet up I said
20:16 what are you do she's like an art I'm an
20:17 artist and I I draw these designs and
20:19 then I I put them in Photoshop then I
20:21 put them in illustrator and once they're
20:23 an illustrator then I can take them to a
20:25 laser printer and I can do all this
20:26 stuff and she was talking about all this
20:27 art produces in the real world and how
20:30 excited she was about being able to get
20:33 the art you know from drawing State into
20:37 math basically and once it's in math you
20:39 can do anything with it and she's got
20:41 all these
20:42 ideas and you know I was asking her you
20:44 know have you played with chat GPT oh I
20:46 played with Dolly I played with this a
20:47 little played with that but she hadn't
20:49 really played with chat GPT 4 and I said
20:51 well you want to see something fun you
20:53 want to see something cool you know you
20:55 know my my old Trope of like oh yeah
20:57 this stuff's kind of scary and
20:59 intimidating want to see something
21:01 cool so so um I said let me see a
21:05 picture of your art again so she had
21:06 showed me your piece of art um and I
21:09 took a picture with my phone and then I
21:10 put it into chat GPT and I said please
21:12 describe this and then it it started
21:16 typing right and she looked at it and
21:18 she was she started reading it and she
21:19 was like oh my God oh my God she took my
21:22 phone out of my hand and she's like
21:24 reading this thing oh my God oh my God
21:26 and she goes well I got this wrong and I
21:28 got that I said ah don't worry about the
21:29 details and she's like okay and she kept
21:31 reading she's like oh my God oh my God
21:34 and so then she handed me the phone back
21:36 and I said I said you know please make
21:38 an image and then and then she said uh I
21:41 said I said you know give me give me her
21:44 her image had a dragon in it and
21:45 something else a dragon and a Lotus
21:48 Flower and so she said put a make a an
21:52 image with a Buddha and a and a a
21:55 Japanese gate I forget what it was
21:57 called a something gate
21:59 um and so I put that in there and I said
22:01 do it in the style that you described
22:03 above and you know it spins out its
22:05 thing and it spits out this image and
22:07 she literally she went oh my
22:11 God she had a Kevin mallister moment
22:14 right there she goes this changes
22:16 everything I said I know so that was
22:19 pretty cool and then she was and then
22:21 she was talking to Leah later and I came
22:24 over and I joined the conversation she
22:26 was like I can do all this stuff I can
22:28 put it in illustrator and now I can use
22:30 this thing to make these images much
22:32 faster cuz it takes me a long time to
22:34 draw them for real and now I can do them
22:35 it was it was really cool just to see
22:37 her she's [ __ ] lit up you know Kyle
22:41 are you aware that Google launched a new
22:43 image generator called image FX
22:47 um is that new I well so Google I know
22:51 Google images you can make inside
22:55 Bard image FX
22:58 here's the thing I have a feeling this
23:01 is in the test kitchen I think I've seen
23:03 this maybe I
23:06 haven't sign in and start creating sign
23:08 in with Google sign in hang
23:12 on Mid Journey 6 has been creating lots
23:15 of cool stuff now
23:18 interesting experimental technology
23:20 allows you to generate your own s
23:22 synthetic images remember to respect
23:24 rights of others and create images
23:26 responsibly responsibly
23:29 you can request the Moval of images
23:31 under
23:32 policies I'm feeling
23:39 lucky Yukio painting of a
23:45 cat oh no I haven't seen this this is
23:48 new and
23:50 Slick H look at
23:57 this
24:11 so it's automatically turning the prompt
24:13 into Mad Libs that's really [ __ ]
24:18 slick wow very cool okay let's go let me
24:25 let me do my classic um
24:31 let let's let's see if it'll do um if
24:34 it's Square only or if it'll do aspect
24:37 ratios so it Go 16 by
24:39 9 wide
24:43 photograph
24:46 photograph graph of
24:50 a
24:52 70s
24:55 muscle car in and uh let's see of a of
25:02 an
25:05 orange 70s muscle car in an
25:11 abandoned Factory by the way this is
25:14 good enough just playing with this once
25:16 this is going on the list in fact I'll
25:18 probably add it to the list right
25:22 now um oh the thing I was I was saying I
25:25 so so it looks like Bard is coming out
25:29 uh not Bard Gemini Advanced is coming
25:32 out tomorrow it's going to be 20 bucks a
25:34 month it sounds like they're going to
25:35 drop the name Bard replace it with the
25:38 name Gemini which I think is smart
25:43 um I have a I have a sneaking
25:46 suspicion that Google is going to flood
25:51 flood the field with
25:53 products
25:56 um because they've got so much talent
26:00 and so much depth of um Innovation with
26:05 AI they've had the last year to build
26:07 some [ __ ] so and if you look at some of
26:10 the de demos like the uh style drop
26:13 thing um they've done some demos that
26:16 have been pretty impressive this is
26:17 pretty impressive uh let's see in an
26:19 amband Factory with um
26:23 sunlight
26:25 streaming through the broken
26:30 Windows uh making the dust in the air
26:37 glow like
26:39 gold all right so I'm going to generate
26:42 this let's see if this how this uh Mad
26:45 Lib
26:46 ises
26:49 our our little thing
26:53 here all right so it's not doing I don't
26:56 think it's doing no no it's just doing
26:59 Square which bugs
27:02 me there's a challenger that's pretty
27:05 Challenger like
27:06 actually that's sort of a GTO Judge
27:09 front
27:10 end that's like that's like a h that's a
27:15 like a bastardization of like four
27:17 different models that one is too um but
27:20 look 16 by9 wide photograph so that
27:23 doesn't matter I wonder if I can can I
27:25 delete
27:26 this yeah oh that's cool this is this is
27:30 slick photograph so let's see oh
27:34 sculpture of an
27:39 orange 50s muscle car I don't think
27:43 there were muscle cars in the 50s but
27:45 that's okay in
27:48 an empty parking lot
27:52 with that's good
27:55 sunlight streaming through the
27:59 broken windows is fine
28:04 okay let's see what it does for a
28:07 sculpture of a muscle car this should be
28:13 interesting tried to sign up and it
28:16 doesn't seem to be available in Canada
28:18 yet oh that sucks I hate it I hate this
28:20 country [ __ ] they
28:26 do huh kind of a mess
28:32 there you know I I would put this at
28:35 kind of Dolly
28:37 2 kind of quality which that's what I'm
28:41 what I'm experiencing in Bard is kind of
28:44 Dolly 2 kind of quality maybe it's a
28:46 little bit better than Dolly 2 Dolly 2
28:48 is really shitty I I would say this is
28:50 maybe somewhere between this is like
28:52 early stable diffusion or this is like
28:54 um Dolly 2.5 a half
28:58 um but this is really slick start over
29:00 generate let's see
29:03 bokeh yeah you can just add things in
29:06 there's settings
29:08 here oh you can get a
29:11 seed yeah pretty slick all right so this
29:15 one's worth is it worth playing with I
29:18 don't think the image generation is good
29:20 enough
29:23 yet
29:26 um
29:29 some Styles like these are good
29:31 enough but like the photographs of the
29:33 the muscle car is not so
29:35 good I'm going to wait I'm going to wait
29:37 let's let's see what happens with with
29:39 Gemini tomorrow um that's pretty slick
29:42 thank you for sharing that super cool so
29:44 that's called image FX by
29:47 Google it's at AI test
29:50 kitchen. withg
29:54 google.com I think there's a ton of
29:56 tools here to play with with actually if
29:58 I just go to the root the root tool or
30:02 the root
30:14 site what's
30:17 [Music]
30:26 this
30:27 [Music]
30:31 yeah
30:35 interesting intersection of AI and
30:37 creativity the AI test kitchen. withg
30:41 google.com all right there you go
30:46 cool they're starting to they're
30:48 starting to soften us up for multimodal
30:53 right switch between music and images
30:56 let's remix what's it say
30:58 [Music]
31:01 remix bubbly optimistic cyber pizza
31:04 party let's go
31:07 sad sad
31:12 pessimistic
31:13 um
31:17 analog
31:19 um peanut butter
31:26 party at the under water arcade at
31:31 the Sky
31:41 Bar chips help
31:44 explore other ideas by changing parts of
31:47 your prompt oh they call those
31:53 [Music]
31:54 chips what is happening with Gemini
31:56 tomorrow say what listen say
32:00 what um what's happening with Gemini
32:04 tomorrow is
32:09 apparently Google is launching Gemini
32:11 Pro or Gemini Ultra tomorrow they're
32:13 going to call it Gemini Advanced they're
32:16 going to drop Google bard and it's going
32:20 to be a multimodal beast but here are
32:24 the caveats I don't know this for sure
32:28 um the one little press reley looking
32:30 thing that I saw that looked sort of
32:34 official not official looked
32:36 plausible um was already kind of
32:39 apologizing for the fact that it wasn't
32:41 everything they they promised it would
32:43 be so they were basically like here's
32:45 our most powerful model and in the
32:46 coming weeks it'll get even more
32:49 multimodal so that says to me that it's
32:52 probably not going to be as slick as
32:55 what they promised but
32:59 in
33:00 theory um even just the base large
33:04 language model is going to be as good or
33:06 better than chat GPT chat GPT
33:11 4 and you know that's pretty
33:14 slick so apparently that's tomorrow when
33:17 tomorrow I don't know um we can go check
33:19 X right now and see if there's anything
33:22 I missed your lives for the last couple
33:24 of nights
33:26 what come on people you can't miss the
33:31 lives you can make money with I'm now
33:34 running stable diffusion myself it's
33:36 crazy isn't
33:39 it hey congratulations if you're running
33:41 stable diffusion yourself that means you
33:43 did a little geeking out there dude
33:45 congratulations that's a big deal um it
33:47 took me so when I first tried to get
33:49 stable diffusion running I tried to do
33:51 it with Google collab and I failed nine
33:54 times it's in it's in the book The the
33:57 book that I just I I just got uh
33:59 published or I'm part of that got
34:02 published um part of my story is failing
34:05 nine times and and not like nine times
34:08 in one night like over like three weeks
34:11 just failing at getting stable diffusion
34:14 running I'd put in like an hour hour and
34:16 a half and it would fail and I'd just
34:18 you know get frustrated and go ah [ __ ]
34:20 it and then two days later I'd come back
34:22 and I'd try again nine times before I
34:24 got it running so that's an
34:26 accomplishment
34:28 and you know hopefully it's gotten
34:29 better since when I tried that that was
34:30 back in summer of 22 yeah or fall of 22
34:36 is when I was doing that
34:39 crazy um yeah it's just nuts just
34:43 nuts demerits for missing lives I listen
34:46 listen
34:48 people have we not have we not
34:50 established ground rules
34:52 here I I'm listening what are the ground
34:56 rules seven nights a week two to three
34:59 hours a night give up your Netflix
35:01 subscription don't bother talking with
35:03 your significant other you show up at
35:05 the AI learning lab it's just what we do
35:08 people yeah but I had to go visit my
35:10 mother-in-law
35:12 no no you put in an earbud and you
35:16 pretend like you're listening to her
35:18 like you always
35:20 do and in here you get the sagely wisdom
35:23 of the
35:26 lab
35:28 all right fine fine you can take a day
35:30 or two
35:33 off I don't know why people could keep
35:35 coming back night after night although I
35:37 do I do I mean they keep coming back the
35:39 same reason I keep coming back
35:49 is being on the sidelines right
35:52 now with
35:55 AI I personally think is one of
36:03 the biggest
36:07 mistakes anyone who's interested in sort
36:10 of professional development or even just
36:13 self-expressive development can make
36:16 like the amount of opportunity if you're
36:18 just in the conversation for the next 18
36:22 months is going to be insane you're like
36:24 but Kyle how how do I make money how do
36:26 I think I I don't [ __ ] know you're
36:29 going to have to figure that [ __ ] out on
36:30 your
36:32 own how you make money with this stuff
36:34 is you figure out how to solve people's
36:36 problems in a way that you do it well
36:39 enough they're willing to give you money
36:41 like that's business that like nothing
36:44 changes
36:49 there but if you're in this conversation
36:52 if you're in this game we were talking
36:53 about this at the at the the meet and
36:55 greet tonight it's like you just need to
36:58 be in the conversation you just need to
37:00 be in the
37:03 conversation because if you're in the
37:05 conversation then when new things happen
37:08 like O say Gemini Ultra comes out you
37:12 jump on it you figure it out you're like
37:14 ooh this is the best thing since sliced
37:16 bread and in fact it's so good at this
37:18 one thing that cha PT is bad at that now
37:21 I know I can go make money with Chachi
37:24 BT or with Gemini advanced oh I got to
37:27 make a new button if it's good you can
37:30 make money
37:31 with you can make money with Gemini
37:34 Advanced I got to come up with a whole
37:36 new
37:37 thing Kyle can we DM you privately as
37:41 well as as well in the a AI Salon
37:44 absolutely
37:46 absolutely
37:51 um yeah you just got to be in the
37:53 conversation right now you got to be
37:55 playing it was funny we're we're we were
37:57 talking tonight and and one of the one
37:59 of the questions came up it's like how
38:00 do I keep up with this stuff you can't
38:02 keep up with this stuff the only thing
38:05 and I I don't even know that it's wise
38:07 to
38:08 focus on getting super good at a at a
38:12 particular tool right now I I I think
38:14 it's
38:19 actually I there's a part of me that
38:22 doesn't want to say that like there's a
38:23 part of me that's like well if someone
38:24 wants to specialize they should
38:26 specialize and that's okay I think
38:28 that's
38:29 okay but but it doesn't feel right
38:38 I if I sort of mentally play out if I
38:42 mentally fantasize about where chat GPT
38:46 is going to be in a year and where
38:48 Google Gemini is going to be in a year
38:50 and where Apple will will you know I I I
38:54 I can only assume that the worldwide
38:56 developer conference in June for apple
38:58 is going to be their big AI you know
39:00 coming out
39:05 party and if I look at where these tools
39:13 go it it's going to be like every one of
39:16 us
39:22 gets
39:25 um
39:27 hundreds of
39:32 superpowers like
39:37 overnight like what if you were good at
39:43 physics what if what if you were good
39:46 at music theory what if you were good at
39:50 business analysis what if you were good
39:52 at what if you were good at all of it
39:55 overnight
40:00 well if you've been on the sidelines you
40:03 might not even recognize that that's
40:06 happening or that that's possible or
40:09 right you're just going to be there you
40:11 know doing doing your
40:14 accounting and all of a sudden there's
40:15 going to be a bunch of other people
40:17 doing accounting around you like where
40:18 did these people come from who wait who
40:20 are they what what Financial school did
40:24 you go to oh I I have a a degree
40:27 philosophy you're doing accounting now
40:29 yeah this
40:30 week it's like that shit's going to
40:33 happen so I feel
40:37 like one of the things to practice over
40:40 the next 18 months is being Nimble being
40:46 curious
40:48 um throwing a bunch of [ __ ] at the wall
40:50 and seeing what
40:52 sticks figuring out where the boundaries
40:54 are of what's good what's bad figuring
40:56 out where the boundaries are of what you
40:57 enjoy and what you don't one of the
41:00 things that I see and hear night after
41:02 night after night after night is people
41:08 who are like flx and
41:13 surprised at how much they
41:16 enjoy something that they didn't think
41:19 they were good
41:22 at and they're like I just I kind of oh
41:27 I hate to break it to you but I kind of
41:29 enjoy this creative
41:35 thing I don't know what to do I was I
41:37 was just going along with my life and I
41:38 was I was doing my stuff and I was doing
41:40 all the stuff they taught me my degree
41:41 and then I got my job and I had my
41:43 30-year career and then I I was coming
41:44 along and then all of a sudden I I I
41:46 stumbled on a chat
41:47 JP and and and dare I call myself an
41:55 artist
41:57 and I think that
42:00 gets better and better and better as
42:04 these tools get
42:06 better every human being is going to be
42:08 able to level
42:10 up like like literally may this maybe
42:15 this is a good metaphor because i' I've
42:16 talked about this before that there's
42:18 something about the immediacy
42:20 of of AI right now where you can just
42:24 say give me an image out comes an give
42:27 me a paragraph out comes a paragraph
42:29 there's something about the immediacy of
42:31 it that's very video game
42:34 like right it's like we're playing a
42:36 video game and it's all just
42:39 like yeah me since this
42:42 channel
42:44 exactly there's something about these
42:46 tools where like the endorphins like if
42:48 you actually play with them and just go
42:51 don't don't think so much about I got to
42:53 do this thing for work and I got to get
42:55 more efficient for work if you just like
42:56 like okay I'll do the efficient for work
42:58 thing and then I'm going to go [ __ ]
43:01 around and and people are [ __ ] around
43:04 and finding out they're finding out like
43:06 holy [ __ ] I'm really good at this oh my
43:09 God this is
43:11 amazing and it's it's kind of like we're
43:14 getting real life powerups it's like
43:17 we're in a video game and and not for
43:20 nothing but in the past 36 hours we now
43:23 have people the the [ __ ] apple with
43:26 their Vision
43:27 Pros the stupid [ __ ] VR goggles got
43:31 good enough that people are wearing them
43:34 in public and they look like absolute
43:35 [ __ ] idiots and it's kind of awesome
43:38 because it's just like holy
43:41 [ __ ] all this [ __ ] they said was coming
43:44 is kind of
43:46 here we're within two or three years of
43:49 [ __ ] robots walking into the grocery
43:52 store and buying us a
43:55 tomato
44:00 we're a year out from these tools that
44:02 we're using being so good that we can
44:04 just kind of say you know what I'd like
44:06 to do today come up with something and
44:09 your little agents will spin up and go
44:11 do that [ __ ] for you and bring you back
44:13 the
44:17 results so I think this I I just like I
44:21 got I got nothing right now I'm
44:24 feeling I I I'm feeling
44:31 increasingly
44:36 unprepared to be having these
44:38 conversations like it's the AI learning
44:40 life it's like I don't know what the
44:41 [ __ ] I'm teaching the only thing I feel
44:43 like is worth teaching right now
44:48 is like learning how to
44:52 learn and like the only way to learn
44:55 something that is changing this
44:58 fast is to just do a lot like it's
45:02 there's like there's no science to it I
45:04 almost feel like there's no method to it
45:07 it's almost like the more you write it
45:09 down and the more you figure out the
45:10 method well I'm going to write a I'm
45:12 going to write the ultimate prompt guide
45:14 that's going to be obsolete in three
45:15 weeks well I'm going to write the I'll
45:17 figure out how to make images by typing
45:20 these complicated prompts and I'll lose
45:22 use all this mid
45:24 Journey technical [ __ ] that I learned in
45:27 this class I took over here and then all
45:29 of a sudden something like Korea comes
45:31 out where you draw squares on the page
45:34 and it dynamically generates [ __ ] in the
45:36 other image or you could put your webcam
45:39 there have you seen this
45:44 [ __ ] learning to love learning yes like
45:48 that's that's what I think this is right
45:50 now I think that's the
45:52 skill curiosity critical thinking
45:57 adventure
45:59 adventure the AI Salon what what's our
46:01 [ __ ] saying what did we say
46:04 Leah hang on I can't remember everything
46:09 people we're a ragtag group of Misfits
46:12 ner duells and Mis creant who have
46:14 gathered to explore the Uncharted
46:16 Wilderness of generative
46:19 AI
46:21 yeah we've gathered to explore it we're
46:24 choosing to go on this adventure
46:27 together when you're old enough to
46:29 remember the Jetson and live like the
46:32 Jetson the shop
46:34 Panda
46:37 yeah I
46:41 mean the you know 2001 I'm sorry Dave
46:45 I'm afraid I can't do that when I first
46:47 started [ __ ] around with chat gbt
46:50 that like how popped in my
46:53 head I'm I'm sorry Kyle I'm afraid I
46:57 can't do that holy [ __ ] it's
47:01 here these things are talking like they
47:04 talk in those
47:07 movies the robots that are making coffee
47:10 with coffee machines because they stuck
47:13 chat GPT in their stupid [ __ ] brain
47:15 and said go learn
47:18 [ __ ] and it
47:22 did like it's here it's not coming
47:29 but it's
47:32 early what's that mean well what that
47:34 means
47:37 is the
47:40 naysayers and the
47:44 Skeptics and the
47:47 Lites they've got lots of ammo right now
47:50 oh they're pieces of [ __ ] oh they steal
47:52 from people oh they lie all the time oh
47:54 they hallucinate me
48:01 3400 digital viewfinders by Apple no
48:04 more sagging neck skin from constantly
48:07 looking that's really good Becky looking
48:09 down that's really
48:11 [Laughter]
48:13 good but apple apple captured something
48:16 right the technology got good enough the
48:18 5,000 patents that are sitting inside
48:20 that Vision Pro goggles they're good
48:23 enough that the reviews are people
48:28 just
48:30 having Kevin McAllister moments with
48:33 with that whole sector that sector has
48:36 been a [ __ ] joke for 20
48:40 years I mean
48:44 meta poor [ __ ] Zuckerberg man he
48:48 renames his company meta for the
48:52 metaverse and spends I don't I don't
48:54 know how many hundreds of millions of of
48:57 dollars building second life that we had
49:00 in
49:01 1999 and everyone looked at it and was
49:03 like
49:05 uh I mean awesome I sure I I guess you
49:10 could play we could watch Grandma try to
49:12 walk off the plank in the
49:15 kitchen just nothing right the tech
49:19 Apple finally got the tech good enough
49:21 that people put it on now and they're
49:22 like holy [ __ ] [ __ ] the future's here
49:26 if you watch the Casey neistat video
49:28 where he he he rides his motorized
49:31 skateboard to the subway station takes
49:34 the subway to Time Square and he's
49:35 sitting in the middle of Time Square
49:37 watching a Mr Beast video on YouTube as
49:41 a giant screen in Time Square with all
49:43 the other giant
49:47 screens and he's like holy
49:50 [ __ ] it's
49:53 here so yeah if you were old enough to
49:56 watch the
49:58 Jetson we're we're we're kind of
50:03 close we're kind of
50:07 close so anyway so what's the skill what
50:09 do you [ __ ] learn how do you where do
50:11 you
50:13 start you start with chat GPT until
50:17 tomorrow
50:22 maybe [ __ ]
50:24 nuts it's [ __ ]
50:28 nuts all right I don't know what we were
50:30 doing tonight view Master
50:33 Lord seeing a cyber truck on the road
50:36 where the dri driver was wearing the
50:38 Apple Vision Pros is extra wild I know
50:41 exactly he's driving like so like all of
50:44 these things are converging right you
50:46 you have you have this [ __ ] insane
50:50 billionaire that decides we've got to
50:52 live on Mars and Designs a rocket that
50:55 looks like the Rockets from the 1950s
50:57 and he makes it out of [ __ ] stainless
50:59 steel so it's a giant silver rocket
51:01 that's going to fly to Mars that same
51:04 guy also designs a truck that looks like
51:06 a [ __ ]
51:08 spaceship it took him four years to get
51:11 them into production and those things
51:12 are now on the road so we have we have
51:15 these
51:16 electric truck things that look like
51:19 spaceships we have goggles that are
51:21 people are wearing around and we've now
51:23 got all these little tools that right
51:26 now are just
51:27 like they're just like shitty little
51:30 apps right including chat GPT they're
51:34 just like shitty little apps that you're
51:35 like it's almost
51:39 something and then you make the images
51:42 you're like they're perfect why can't it
51:44 spell right what's with the
51:48 hands oh look it did
51:52 math wait that doesn't add up to that
51:56 right like it's it's so
52:02 close and so I think 2024 becomes the
52:06 year where these tools get really good
52:09 really fast 2023 the last normal year
52:13 I've I I called it here probably January
52:17 15th I think was the first time I I I
52:19 saw it somewhere on Twitter or so I
52:21 don't know where I saw it might have
52:22 been in the salon
52:24 even in the minute the minute I heard
52:26 that phrase I'm like oh yes that's it
52:30 and if you think back to 2023 it was
52:32 pretty [ __ ] weird but it was it still
52:35 kind of looked like like everything
52:36 still kind of looked like how it looks
52:40 now I don't think this year's going to
52:42 look like that I think this year gets
52:43 really weird really fast and in a kind
52:46 of exciting way but if you're sitting on
52:49 the
52:50 sidelines if you're not paying attention
52:52 to this stuff if you're not actively
52:54 playing with AI if you're not actively
52:56 figuring out you know going into the Art
52:58 Guild and the writer Guild and and going
53:00 to the salon and sharing stuff in the
53:02 Irregulars Channel and sharing stuff in
53:04 Show and Tell and and you know reading
53:07 the news channel and finding other
53:09 communities if you're not sort of
53:11 becoming like an octopus just just
53:13 putting your hands as far out as you can
53:15 just pulling in anything that resembles
53:22 knowledge it's I think it's going to
53:25 feel
53:29 insurmountable but if you're in it and
53:32 these new tools come up that are really
53:34 good if we get a true
53:36 multimodal you know version of chat GPT
53:39 that's that's actually got reasoning and
53:42 actually has autonomous agents built in
53:45 and it can take action on our
53:48 behalf you're going to be able to wield
53:51 those
53:52 tools like that and you're going to be
53:55 able to use them in ways that it you're
53:58 going to it's already starting to happen
54:01 Source Camp just posted the last normal
54:04 year was an image an irregular made oh
54:07 cool we should go find that one CU I
54:10 should credit that
54:14 person
54:24 it's source Source Camp has shared Kelly
54:27 Kelly has shared a bunch of times in
54:29 this channel
54:31 that you know she's she's just kind of
54:34 like trying to figure this stuff out
54:35 right and like in her reality she's like
54:38 I don't really know what I'm doing here
54:40 I don't really have
54:41 it and as she's been sharing what she's
54:45 learning out in the world and in her
54:47 workplace and and out in the
54:49 world she is occurring for
54:53 people like a [ __ ] wizard
54:55 [Laughter]
54:59 she's like
55:03 pring she's like here's my here's my set
55:06 of parlor
55:08 tricks that if you don't know what chat
55:10 GPT is I'm going to start you with like
55:14 let's make a bulleted
55:16 list they're like okay I heard it can
55:18 make images and she's like we'll get
55:20 there then she's like now let's have it
55:22 make a paragraph can it make images well
55:25 get there and she's like let's make a
55:27 table and then she walks them through
55:29 this
55:30 whole series of
55:33 increasingly
55:35 impressive
55:37 tasks that these largest language models
55:40 do and the people are still like but can
55:42 it make images and at some point she
55:44 makes an
55:45 image and at some point in that
55:47 progression like one by one the people
55:50 are going oh my
55:53 God it can do that
56:00 if you're AI
56:01 literate in the next 18 months you're
56:04 going to be the
56:07 wizard you're like but Kyle I'm not very
56:10 technical listen I don't know if you
56:12 knew this but okay I don't tell anyone
56:16 this but I'll tell you okay listen
56:19 I I never finished high
56:22 school but anyway I got into college it
56:24 was Community College I got me to
56:25 college any I went to
56:30 college I'm not very technical okay so I
56:34 I think that your AI this this AI Salon
56:36 you do is cute I thought I was going to
56:38 be able to get my nails done I like a
56:39 Manny Petty anyway um I'm not very
56:42 technical so I'm not going to be very
56:43 good at this uh AI stuff okay everyone
56:46 like right now people are thinking you
56:48 have to be a [ __ ] mathematician to do
56:50 this you
56:52 don't that's we we are we we are an
56:55 inflection point that chat GPT
56:58 started the reason Leah and I started
57:01 the AI
57:02 Salon December 7th
57:05 2022 was because when chat GPT came out
57:09 we looked at that and we were like oh
57:12 [ __ ] this is a
57:15 thing that any human being can use like
57:18 you don't need to be a technologist to
57:20 like type words in a box Google taught
57:23 us how to do that here's a box stick
57:25 words in it [ __ ] happens oh I know how
57:28 to do
57:30 [Applause]
57:30 [Laughter]
57:35 that oh
57:38 cool oh it's digital gods of course it
57:41 was [ __ ] digital
57:51 Gods come
57:54 on where's
57:56 the so this is the image from digital
57:59 Gods when was this what was the date on
58:02 this one month ago so
58:06 it's February
58:16 6th 2022 2023 and he
58:20 wrote 2023 will be the last normal
58:24 year that's Lord digital Gods to you
58:27 Lord digital Gods
58:29 earning his
58:32 [Applause]
58:35 [Music]
58:39 moniker you don't need to be technical
58:42 to learn this stuff but you do need
58:49 to what's the skill I think the skill
58:53 right now is having
58:57 ah okay here's the skill check Show and
58:59 Tell for emotional component to
59:04 prompts um I think the skill right now
59:08 it's funny that Corey Sandler just got
59:10 pinned she's so good at this
59:23 [ __ ] well wow
59:26 beautiful it's when artists get their
59:30 hands on this technology it's just
59:31 [ __ ] amazing so first that's just a
59:34 beautiful image but then look what she
59:35 wrote now I wanted to convey deep
59:38 sadness and fear the environmental
59:40 damage will remove her home here are the
59:43 images that capture the deep sadness and
59:45 Melancholy of a mythical feathered
59:47 serpent with an emotional depth that
59:49 reflects its fears of environmental
59:51 damage threatening its home the
59:53 creature's eye conveyed conveys a pro
59:56 profound sense of Sorrow making the port
1:00:00 portrayal
1:00:02 emotionally and it cap it really did
1:00:04 capture it in the eyes didn't
1:00:06 it [ __ ]
1:00:12 amazing so
1:00:15 Corey if you don't follow her by the way
1:00:17 Corey Sandler Pottery you should um her
1:00:20 Pottery is amazing she's an amazing
1:00:21 human
1:00:23 being and amazing artist and now she's a
1:00:27 developer right yeah she's making gpts
1:00:31 if you don't know what gpts are so in
1:00:33 chat GPT if you if you pay the 20 bucks
1:00:35 for chat GPT plus you can make these
1:00:38 things called
1:00:39 gpts and what they are is little
1:00:42 customized
1:00:44 personalized fully functional
1:00:47 applications that have all of the
1:00:50 profound power of chat gp4 but in your
1:00:53 own little flavor that that you like you
1:00:55 you can take that power and you can sort
1:00:57 of Whittle it down into a little widget
1:01:00 like a little mini
1:01:03 app and so Corey's are just these
1:01:06 amazing she's taking her artistic Vision
1:01:08 she wraps them into these gpts and then
1:01:11 you get to play with them and you get to
1:01:14 experience generating things from her
1:01:17 creative point of
1:01:19 view and it's [ __ ] miraculous and
1:01:22 that's that's kind of I think that's the
1:01:24 thing about gpts like even though
1:01:26 they're technically just janky pieces of
1:01:31 [ __ ] what they really are is some other
1:01:34 human
1:01:36 being lending
1:01:39 you their
1:01:41 brain or or or their like one particular
1:01:45 Little
1:01:46 Portal that you get to look through how
1:01:49 they look at the
1:01:51 world and like people who look at the
1:01:54 world and see math they put together
1:01:56 gpts that let you do magical
1:02:00 math and for people who look at the
1:02:02 world and they see marketing you get to
1:02:04 create remarkable marketing copy because
1:02:07 they took the time to to give you that
1:02:09 little
1:02:11 gift and in this case you get to become
1:02:14 an artist like that and sort of
1:02:17 experience the world through her point
1:02:19 of view [ __ ] Insanity isn't
1:02:23 it
1:02:28 my prompts show it's not a skill but
1:02:30 words huh I
1:02:33 would respectfully disagree I think it
1:02:36 is an incredible
1:02:39 skill immerse yourself in the skill
1:02:41 digital Gods Lord digital Gods it turns
1:02:46 out that you might be the one that first
1:02:48 said 2023 the last normal year sir Lord
1:02:53 digital Gods good on ye M good on ye you
1:02:56 can make money
1:02:59 with um thank you Brandon for for
1:03:03 searching that up
1:03:06 um Brandon's like an archaeologist in
1:03:09 the uh in the salon already it's pretty
1:03:11 cool hey Silver Fox thank you for that
1:03:14 cotton candy heart that was pretty the
1:03:16 heart puff very nice Spike Jones just
1:03:19 joined welcome Spike Jones good to see
1:03:21 you papa
1:03:23 JJ
1:03:26 that's beautiful isn't it let's go look
1:03:28 at some more showand tell stuff let's go
1:03:30 look at some irregular stuff
1:03:33 too oh that's gorgeous Lisa U another
1:03:37 Corey
1:03:38 Sandler I keep
1:03:41 tweaking beautiful wow look at
1:03:46 that so there's one this is this is this
1:03:49 is something that I'm absolutely
1:03:51 fascinated by
1:03:53 is
1:03:55 you look at that and then if you're a
1:03:58 jewelry maker or silver smith or you
1:04:01 know a jewel like you know someone who
1:04:03 makes necklaces
1:04:04 or you're like I could make that I know
1:04:06 how to make that and like someone
1:04:08 someone's going to concoct something in
1:04:12 one of these tools and then someone else
1:04:14 is going to go oh I'm going to make that
1:04:15 and that's like that's going to show up
1:04:17 in the world somehow or some some crazy
1:04:20 ass version of that that never would
1:04:21 have
1:04:23 existed
1:04:25 Carl Joshua ncu in Africa I've been able
1:04:28 to use AI to teach villagers on Village
1:04:31 tourism yeah oh [ __ ]
1:04:35 amazing exactly and Carl I mean it's
1:04:38 going to get you know one of the things
1:04:40 that Google put out was was Gemini
1:04:44 Nano which is a an optimized version of
1:04:48 you know the
1:04:49 Gemini large language model designed to
1:04:52 be installed locally on phones so so
1:04:54 you're going to be able to do that kind
1:04:55 of stuff even if you don't have internet
1:04:59 connections I mean imagine having you
1:05:02 know the the the you know some slice of
1:05:06 the knowledge of what's been put on the
1:05:08 internet for the last 40 years at your
1:05:10 fingertips even if you don't have access
1:05:12 to the
1:05:13 internet
1:05:15 that's within reach like and not within
1:05:19 reach like maybe 10 years from now when
1:05:22 all of you have perished and we have G
1:05:25 I've got to go to
1:05:27 sleep you can go to sleep Becky R you
1:05:30 don't have to stay here I was just
1:05:32 joking before when I said you're not
1:05:34 allowed to
1:05:38 leave Becky Ru is amazing Becky loves
1:05:41 quilting when she first discovered these
1:05:44 these uh
1:05:45 gpts well first she discovered Deli
1:05:49 could make really good quilts and then
1:05:50 she discovered gpts and she goes maybe I
1:05:53 could make a GPT about quilts and like
1:05:55 her first GPT was it makes
1:05:58 quilts it's super cool and so we get to
1:06:01 go play with that thing we get to see
1:06:03 the world through her through her eyes
1:06:06 in this weird kind of self-expressive
1:06:08 way that's amazing thank you for this
1:06:11 I'm making villager reimagine their
1:06:14 Futures powerful it's powerful it's it's
1:06:17 it's beyond powerful Carl it's profound
1:06:23 right
1:06:25 what what I I would encourage you to
1:06:27 keep coming back so I don't know if you
1:06:29 know this if you've been here before
1:06:30 Carl but I I do these to the best of my
1:06:35 ability seven nights a
1:06:38 week 8:00 mountain time I'm in Denver so
1:06:42 I go 8:00 at night I do these and I try
1:06:44 to do them for two to three hours and
1:06:46 the the people that show up here
1:06:47 regularly they're called the
1:06:50 Irregulars and one of the reasons they
1:06:52 keep coming back is they keep
1:06:53 rediscovering
1:06:55 they keep reimagining their Futures
1:06:58 right they keep
1:07:00 rediscovering skills that they didn't
1:07:03 know they
1:07:04 had and they keep rediscovering passions
1:07:07 and joys that they didn't know they had
1:07:09 that Hotel California
1:07:11 AI you can check out anytime you want
1:07:15 but you better [ __ ] stay you can make
1:07:18 money this is you what you secretly
1:07:21 don't know is that this little button is
1:07:22 training you you can't leave you can't
1:07:26 leave
1:07:30 um oh my God it's just
1:07:36 amazing the other thing that just that
1:07:40 just [ __ ] crushes my heart right now
1:07:44 is the other side of this coin right
1:07:46 like this community the community that
1:07:48 keeps showing up here and is discovering
1:07:50 all this possibility and is discovering
1:07:52 all this joy and is discovering kind of
1:07:55 a a new level up for
1:07:58 Humanity on the other side of that are
1:08:01 the people that are like well it's just
1:08:03 stupid it's not good I tried it and they
1:08:04 made a mistake and they just you know
1:08:06 they've got their arms crossed and
1:08:07 they're pissed off and they're angry and
1:08:08 they're
1:08:09 afraid and it just [ __ ] breaks my
1:08:14 heart
1:08:18 because there really isn't a barrier
1:08:21 right now there's a ton of free tool
1:08:24 tools there's a ton of open- source
1:08:27 tools the the 20 bucks a month for chat
1:08:33 GPT Paul rer from the marketing AI
1:08:36 Institute actually did some analysis on
1:08:37 this he said he he he wanted to look at
1:08:40 the $30 a month uh GPT team cost like
1:08:44 people are like oh you shouldn't have to
1:08:46 pay $30 a month for chat GPT or whatever
1:08:49 he said if a company you know provides
1:08:53 chat GPT to their their employees and
1:08:56 those employees get a 10%
1:08:59 increase he did he did like the math on
1:09:02 this it's like you know 17 hours a week
1:09:04 or whatever or not a week 17 hours a
1:09:06 month and it comes out to like $684 so
1:09:10 for a $30 investment you get
1:09:12 $684
1:09:14 back and it's like it's like the it it's
1:09:18 the mo it's the most profound deal in
1:09:23 software so like even even the
1:09:26 commercial
1:09:27 stuff is ridiculously cheap for what it
1:09:31 does for you and just there are like you
1:09:35 know it's it's still 80% have not used

1:13:11 like wants it for her daughter and now
1:13:12 she's emotionally bonded to it and it
1:13:14 won't eat but I think it ate today I
1:13:16 think I think it's going to be good I

1:14:47 of these Corners is a series called
1:14:49 underhyped
1:14:51 um I'm also in a book book on Amazon
1:14:55 called AI Futures and
1:14:57 Anthology put out by Turkey Hill press
1:15:00 and Cindy [ __ ] was the was the editor of
1:15:03 that and quite frankly the driving force
1:15:06 behind it it she's she's an amazing
1:15:08 woman if you don't know her Cindy [ __ ]
1:15:10 on um in the salon and she's lab five
1:15:13 Futures here she's just an amazing woman
1:15:16 there's a lot of amazing people in in
1:15:19 the salon there's a lot of amazing women
1:15:20 in the salon and and in here too
1:15:26 and and I there's I
1:15:29 like the the work that is being done by
1:15:33 just all the people in the salon right
1:15:35 now is just I don't know it's very it's
1:15:38 very [ __ ]
1:15:41 inspiring so get in there and
1:15:45 play I don't know why I'm all soap boxy
1:15:48 maybe I know why I am cuz I cuz you know
1:15:50 seeing Leah really inspired me that it's
1:15:52 like [ __ ] man we start started this
1:15:54 thing like a year and 3 months
1:15:56 ago
1:16:00 and this is a remarkable remarkable
1:16:04 Community right now and like we we've
1:16:06 barely just begun we' barely just
1:16:07 scratched the surface of what this can
1:16:11 become and so I think I think I'm a
1:16:13 little fired up Salute to the women of
1:16:16 AI I got to tell you in the past six
1:16:20 months I have been in
1:16:24 I think I can I can confidently
1:16:29 say that in the past 6
1:16:32 months more more meetings more than half
1:16:35 of the meetings that I'm in that are
1:16:38 like AI
1:16:39 related are majority
1:16:43 women I've never experienced that in my
1:16:46 life I've been doing this Tech [ __ ] for
1:16:51 years it's always [ __ ] pasty [ __ ]
1:16:55 white guys like
1:16:58 me it's like there's enough of us enough
1:17:03 already and there's there's something
1:17:06 happening with this generative AI
1:17:08 stuff
1:17:10 that there's a shift happening and it's
1:17:13 [ __ ] cool it's
1:17:18 powerful it's really cool so amazing
1:17:22 yeah badass women of
1:17:28 AI well honestly they're just badass
1:17:30 women but I'm getting to meet them
1:17:32 through
1:17:35 [Music]
1:17:38 AI I did under I gen for two two win
1:17:43 four I did underhyped last night well
1:17:45 worth it thank you very much yeah I'm
1:17:48 I'm I'm proud of that one I'm the the
1:17:50 videos in that one really do talk about
1:17:53 you know why AI
1:17:56 is here to stay for one thing but also
1:17:59 how to think about it how to not get
1:18:01 overwhelmed by it like it's a lot of the
1:18:03 a lot of the stuff that I've sort of
1:18:04 learned over the past year is kind of
1:18:06 concentrated in that
1:18:13 [Music]
1:18:15 series I'm tempted to go over to Twitter
1:18:19 right now and just see if there's any
1:18:21 anything new going on
1:18:24 but there's another part of me like I
1:18:26 just I don't really give a [ __ ] about
1:18:27 the tools right
1:18:35 now this isn't about the tools this
1:18:37 isn't about the
1:18:39 tools it's going to be don't get me
1:18:43 wrong like I I I think when when the
1:18:47 Genai stuff kind of stabilizes which is
1:18:50 it's not going to be for a while right
1:18:52 it's probably not going to be
1:18:57 it's it like my gut tells me at least
1:19:00 three years probably more like 5 to 10
1:19:02 where it's just going to be [ __ ]
1:19:08 chaos and when it starts to stabilize
1:19:11 then people can sort of hunker down and
1:19:13 get their Specialties and things like
1:19:14 that but I I I
1:19:22 just
1:19:25 I am increasingly less
1:19:28 convinced that mastering any single
1:19:31 tool
1:19:33 matters like it's not bad like if you
1:19:36 get really good at Mid Journey you're
1:19:38 going to make some brilliant [ __ ]
1:19:40 images like Peter Kaminsky I think he's
1:19:42 made like 80 or 90 or 100,000 images and
1:19:45 and like these are the keeper images so
1:19:47 he's probably made you know five times
1:19:49 that amount to get to those curated
1:19:53 ones so there's nothing wrong with like
1:19:56 taking a single tool and [ __ ] running
1:19:59 down the rabbit
1:20:01 hole
1:20:03 but is mid Journey going to be the tool
1:20:06 two years out I don't know maybe maybe
1:20:10 not some of the [ __ ] Google was showing
1:20:12 in their previews over the summer with
1:20:14 their image stuff means that there's
1:20:16 there's [ __ ] cooking at Google that's
1:20:18 going to just be insane like that might
1:20:22 be the one I like so the individual
1:20:25 tools are all are going to be
1:20:28 ephemeral right we're in primordial soup
1:20:31 right so it's just like the thing that
1:20:32 looks like the big thing that's emerging
1:20:35 is just going to be a bubble that goes
1:20:37 ploop
1:20:39 [Music]
1:20:41 disappears so then what are you supposed
1:20:43 to [ __ ]
1:20:45 learn learn how to love learning learn
1:20:48 how to have fun learn how do you stay
1:20:52 okay here's an important thing how do
1:20:55 you stay motivated and
1:20:59 energized when you can't keep
1:21:03 up when you literally can't learn you
1:21:07 you not only can't learn what's going on
1:21:09 in AI you like you can't even keep up
1:21:12 with it like you can't even keep up with
1:21:14 like people tonight wait what's going on
1:21:16 with
1:21:17 Gemini like oh I'm sorry you didn't hear
1:21:20 in the past 48 hours that that they're
1:21:23 launching their big major thing oh guess
1:21:25 you're not paying attention like it's
1:21:27 completely overwhelming right
1:21:30 now so how do you maintain energy and
1:21:36 inspiration knowing that everything
1:21:38 you're learning is going to be
1:21:39 irrelevant next
1:21:42 month I think it like I think it's this
1:21:45 lifeold lesson like enjoy the journey
1:21:47 it's not about the
1:21:50 destination like here's the deal kids
1:21:54 we get to be at the beginning of this
1:21:57 [ __ ]
1:21:58 industry we're
1:22:01 here that's the
1:22:03 gift that's the
1:22:05 gift just get in touch with
1:22:08 that oh I get to play with I get to play
1:22:11 with this do you know how lucky we are
1:22:13 that we get to play with chat gp4 do you
1:22:16 know how much it [ __ ] costs every
1:22:18 time you put in a
1:22:20 prompt it's like 75 cents
1:22:25 like it's a
1:22:27 lot in in in
1:22:30 compute dollars if it's more than like a
1:22:32 hundredth of a penny it's a
1:22:36 lot this shit's expensive to run and we
1:22:40 get it for 20 bucks a
1:22:42 month we get to play with this stay in
1:22:45 touch with that stay in touch with how
1:22:47 lucky we are right
1:22:50 now stay in touch with the fact that
1:22:55 that you were a
1:22:58 programmer like Roger Roger Scott in the
1:23:01 AI Salon he's one of the one of the
1:23:02 earliest members of the AI
1:23:04 Salon the the Leah if you're still
1:23:07 watching you remember Roger early on
1:23:10 when we first started the salon we
1:23:11 called it the AI artist
1:23:13 Salon can't pin my last four comments
1:23:16 but you pinned this
1:23:17 [Laughter]
1:23:20 one it was called the AI artist salon
1:23:23 and Roger came to came to a bunch of the
1:23:25 meetings and to be to be fair to anyone
1:23:28 that came to the early Salon meetings
1:23:30 they they were not fun in person cuz it
1:23:32 was basically just watching me run a
1:23:34 zoom meeting it took me a year to figure
1:23:36 out that that was not a good a good user
1:23:39 experience but but Roger came to a bunch
1:23:41 of
1:23:43 them and it was called the AI artist
1:23:45 salon and we had a Discord and so Roger
1:23:47 got in the in the AI artist Salon
1:23:49 Discord and he said I'll teach these
1:23:52 [ __ ]
1:23:53 and he he made his name Roger not an
1:23:58 artist cuz he was an
1:24:00 engineer right but there was something
1:24:03 about this group that he was digging and
1:24:05 he was showing up but he was like he was
1:24:07 like this kudin he's like no [ __ ] this
1:24:09 is you know I'm an engineer and I'm
1:24:11 going to engineer my way through this
1:24:12 and then people started posting We got a
1:24:15 mid Journey server in
1:24:18 Discord and then people started posting
1:24:20 stuff and they started posting their
1:24:22 prompts and he started Ed asking
1:24:23 questions like an engineer would well
1:24:26 what did you do to do this and what did
1:24:27 you do to do that and then some of them
1:24:30 were artists they're like I don't know I
1:24:31 just did [ __ ] and he
1:24:34 hated and so he got all engineering on
1:24:38 it and he started engineering the [ __ ]
1:24:40 out of mid
1:24:42 journey and figuring out how the prompts
1:24:45 worked and a funny thing happened on him
1:24:49 taking his engineering skills and
1:24:51 applying them to Mid Journey
1:24:53 he got really [ __ ] good at Mid
1:24:55 Journey he was creating art that was
1:24:58 like holy [ __ ] that's good like
1:25:00 consistently because because he was
1:25:02 attacking it like a system he was
1:25:05 generating a lot of [ __ ]
1:25:07 art and then another thing happened he
1:25:11 started enjoying making
1:25:14 art and he changed his
1:25:18 name Roger becoming an
1:25:21 artist
1:25:24 I think that's [ __ ]
1:25:28 inspiring and like two months ago he he
1:25:31 entered an AI art like Gallery showing
1:25:36 in Boulder and got two of his pieces
1:25:38 selected so he's now a you know a
1:25:41 gallery shown
1:25:44 artist probably never in a million years
1:25:47 thought that would like be in his bingo
1:25:51 card
1:25:59 like what's your version of that maybe
1:26:00 you're an artist and you always wanted
1:26:02 to be good at
1:26:03 math or
1:26:06 science maybe you're fascinated with the
1:26:09 the quantum
1:26:12 world and you're like yeah but you
1:26:15 know I couldn't cut it with the math and
1:26:18 I had to drop out of Science school so I
1:26:20 got this humanities degree and now I'm
1:26:23 just an artist but I've always wanted to
1:26:26 do
1:26:27 space
1:26:28 time well now you
1:26:34 can if you're in the game if you're in
1:26:36 the
1:26:37 conversation if you're willing to dick
1:26:39 around with these tools and figure out
1:26:41 where the buttons are that allow you to
1:26:44 level
1:26:47 up right if you want to do data analysis
1:26:53 and you don't know that code interpreter
1:26:56 exists inside chat gp4 as a just tool
1:26:59 that you can
1:27:02 use do you know what code interpreter is
1:27:06 if you're new
1:27:10 here it's a thing that when you upload a
1:27:12 spreadsheet to
1:27:14 it and you go tell me what's interesting
1:27:16 about this
1:27:17 spreadsheet it writes and executes its
1:27:20 own python code to analyze the data for
1:27:25 you it's like your little magical math
1:27:28 agent that's that's coding on your
1:27:31 behalf to go wow we could within this
1:27:34 data there's some trends that point to
1:27:36 this and trends that point to that would
1:27:38 you like me to plot those for you and
1:27:41 you're like sure and it'll open up a
1:27:42 library and it'll create a little plot
1:27:44 of the data
1:27:51 points
1:27:56 no
1:28:00 berer just
1:28:02 cuckoo it will merge into one yep it
1:28:06 will Spike Jones has that right we're I
1:28:09 I heard the I heard this phrase in late
1:28:11 22 or early
1:28:13 23 and and then Elon Musk has since
1:28:16 talked about this he he's talking about
1:28:18 this he Elon Musk has said X will become
1:28:21 the everything app
1:28:25 and then when I started looking at chat
1:28:26 GPT and when I started watching it
1:28:28 coding and then when I started watching
1:28:30 it do code interpreter and then when you
1:28:33 know you started looking at what it
1:28:34 could you could do with Lang chain and
1:28:36 with these things and then they came out
1:28:37 with these
1:28:40 gpts and then you look at some of the
1:28:42 demos that Google did with
1:28:45 Gemini you're like
1:28:50 oh these AI things are going to become
1:28:53 the everything app you're like what do
1:28:55 you mean the everything app Kyle what
1:28:57 are you talking
1:28:59 about it will do
1:29:04 everything I'd like to see a movie star
1:29:06 in young Tom Cruz and uh old Dakota
1:29:14 Fanning that tells the standby me story
1:29:17 on a on a abandoned Space
1:29:21 Station
1:29:24 bang I'd like an application that does
1:29:33 that we not that far from that
1:29:38 Jetson I'd like a prime rib
1:29:43 please I think I think the the prime red
1:29:46 rib out of the slot that's probably five
1:29:48 or 10 years
1:29:49 away but all the digital stuff like
1:29:52 that's like two years
1:29:59 away think about the
1:30:03 amount think about the amount of
1:30:05 suffering there is right
1:30:08 now for rare
1:30:11 diseases that don't even get
1:30:15 researched because there's not enough
1:30:17 money to be
1:30:18 made if you find a
1:30:21 treatment
1:30:24 and then
1:30:27 imagine that that community of people
1:30:30 affected by that rare
1:30:33 disease have
1:30:38 resources that can start
1:30:40 to attack that disease vector and figure
1:30:44 out treatments or cures for
1:30:50 it we're not that far from that
1:30:52 from that as a as a as a very real
1:30:56 possibility like communities all over
1:30:59 the place doing
1:31:06 this Earl Gray t hot SSN I don't know
1:31:10 what that means
1:31:21 Clint
1:31:27 what's going on champy I think champy
1:31:29 wants I think he hears someone in the
1:31:31 kitchen I think he wants
1:31:33 cheese AI gives us our voice that's
1:31:36 exactly
1:31:38 right it's exactly right but it's it's
1:31:42 not just gives
1:31:44 us gives us your voice is it it's it's
1:31:47 like it gives
1:31:51 you yeah yeah I guess I guess that is
1:31:53 right right you you can express you can
1:31:55 express your your voice can be expressed
1:31:58 in essentially any form oh Star Trek
1:32:02 Captain peard okay hang on let me let
1:32:05 champy out what's wrong you want to go
1:32:08 out you think she's going to give you
1:32:10 cheese who's out there is she going to
1:32:13 give you cheese oh she might give you
1:32:21 cheese
1:32:33 all right cheese is being procured as we
1:32:42 speak you know what else is good about
1:32:45 just jibber jabber in tonight well might
1:32:48 not be good at all for
1:32:50 you you know know I I didn't really like
1:32:53 it I I I I was on his Tik Tok and and he
1:32:56 was on there and he seemed you know he
1:32:58 seemed kind of charming I thought I
1:32:59 thought at first I was like is that Alec
1:33:00 Balman oh my God he's put on weight he
1:33:02 does not look good anyway
1:33:05 um it it might not be good for you but
1:33:09 here's why I think the rambling on wait
1:33:12 in Zab I've been generating AI future
1:33:14 stadiums schools hospitals it changes
1:33:17 our leaders that's so [ __ ]
1:33:21 cool
1:33:23 AI future Stadium schools hospitals yeah
1:33:29 right imagine if there were a stadium
1:33:32 here and then by the way here's what it
1:33:34 looks like
1:33:35 right and then as these tools get more
1:33:38 sophisticated Carl where they can spin
1:33:40 up their own
1:33:42 agents you know AI can spin up here's
1:33:45 what it would cost to build that stadium
1:33:47 and then here's the here's the economic
1:33:49 development plan for how you know
1:33:52 everyone does this local tourism thing
1:33:54 that you're talking about here's here's
1:33:57 what they charge for it you know we're
1:33:58 going to economic model this thing out
1:34:00 here's what goes to the people here's
1:34:01 what goes to the stadium
1:34:05 fund
1:34:09 yeah imagine it and then just say yeah
1:34:12 back to sher's point about it gives us a
1:34:14 voice well what voice do you want that's
1:34:17 that's a fascinating thing about these
1:34:19 tools too
1:34:20 right
1:34:22 if you could do anything what would you
1:34:25 choose to
1:34:28 do if education were no longer the
1:34:31 barrier if knowledge were no longer the
1:34:35 barrier if needing to hire 27 people to
1:34:38 do all of that analysis were no longer
1:34:41 the barrier what would you do what would
1:34:43 you choose to
1:34:47 do Choose Wisely choose well choose
1:34:51 whatever the [ __ ] you
1:34:56 want why
1:34:58 not what's the Worst That Could Happen
1:35:00 chat GPT screws it up and hallucinates a
1:35:02 little and you're like ah [ __ ] it's not
1:35:04 good enough yet yep well no the worst
1:35:08 that could happen is did you hear about
1:35:09 the dude that wired $25 million out of
1:35:11 his company
1:35:13 yesterday did you hear about this
1:35:19 one some Feller in a Hong Kong company
1:35:24 got a what seemed like a suspicious
1:35:26 email that said hey bud would you mind
1:35:30 wiring on out $25
1:35:32 million and he's like this looks a
1:35:35 little suspicious and then he got a call
1:35:38 a FaceTime
1:35:39 call from his CFO and the CFO was like
1:35:43 nope jolly good good to go send the
1:35:46 money on out that's coming straight from
1:35:48 my desk guess
1:35:50 what
1:35:52 that weren't the CFO that were a deep
1:35:56 fake and he sent out the money it's
1:36:02 gone so I suppose suppose that kind of
1:36:05 shit's going to start happening like
1:36:06 there's going to be a lot of that stuff
1:36:07 in 2024
1:36:10 too and what's going to be interesting
1:36:12 about stories like that because they're
1:36:13 Sensational those are the only things
1:36:15 we're going to hear on the news so so
1:36:17 what's going to happen in 2024 there's
1:36:19 going to
1:36:20 be [ __ ] show debacle in the US
1:36:23 presidential election because of all the
1:36:25 Deep fakes and all that it's just going
1:36:26 to be it's just going to be a [ __ ]
1:36:28 nightmare and that's going to get all
1:36:30 the it's going to get all the noise all
1:36:32 the news is going to cover all that
1:36:36 [ __ ] and what it's going to look like
1:36:38 from the outside is this AI stuff's over
1:36:41 this AI stuff's over hype this AI
1:36:43 stuff's dangerous and there's going to
1:36:45 be people sitting on the sidelines and
1:36:47 you know what we're going to be doing in
1:36:49 here yeah that sucks hey you you want to
1:36:51 see something cool we're going to be
1:36:53 playing we're going to be playing we're
1:36:54 going to be playing we're going to be
1:36:56 playing and then we're going to be
1:36:57 playing and then some new cool things
1:36:59 going to come out we're going to be
1:37:00 playing and then someone in here is
1:37:01 going to go ooh uh it just gave up a
1:37:04 bunch of data here that's bad okay let's
1:37:05 not play with that we skirt around that
1:37:07 little problem stick it off to the side
1:37:10 and then we're going to be playing we're
1:37:11 going to be playing we're going to be
1:37:15 playing and then what's going to happen
1:37:17 is all the dust is going to settle out
1:37:18 of whatever the [ __ ] chaos of 2024 is
1:37:21 going to be
1:37:22 these tools are going to be absolutely
1:37:24 [ __ ] remarkable and everyone who's in
1:37:26 this conversation whether they're in
1:37:28 here or in you know some other community
1:37:30 but they're in the conversation are
1:37:32 going to be sitting there with the
1:37:33 [ __ ] world on a
1:37:35 platter what do I want to do I can do
1:37:38 [ __ ] anything we're going to be able
1:37:39 to write our own
1:37:41 tickets because there going to be so
1:37:43 many more people that don't have a
1:37:44 [ __ ] clue what just
1:37:46 happened CU they're just going to be
1:37:49 paying attention to the noise from the
1:37:53 sidelines that's not this that's
1:37:58 this is about being on the field get on
1:38:02 the [ __ ] field and play mod Channel
1:38:05 please yes sir yes
1:38:08 s going to the mod Channel car
1:38:14 on oh
1:38:20 interesting
1:38:24 I said something about the US elections
1:38:25 and it's showing up in the somewhere
1:38:27 somewhere for
1:38:34 someone but
1:38:38 yeah I don't know if this is is this
1:38:40 valuable my little ramblings
1:38:48 here Debbie if you knew you couldn't
1:38:51 fail what would you
1:38:54 try you know I was thinking about I was
1:38:56 thinking about my relationship with
1:38:58 writer's
1:39:00 block and writer's block is essentially
1:39:02 gone for me because of
1:39:06 AI and that's really weird to
1:39:11 say because what I now know like once
1:39:14 you have that
1:39:20 moment
1:39:25 and you know that if you don't have an
1:39:27 idea you can instantly have an idea
1:39:30 right so if you now know that writer's
1:39:36 block doesn't
1:39:38 exist then you have to confront why was
1:39:41 there writer's
1:39:43 block cuz what's writer's block it's
1:39:46 insecurity right it's
1:39:48 fear you look at the blank piece of the
1:39:51 paper and you go well I didn't get a
1:39:52 degree so I can't write I don't have the
1:39:55 right pencil so I can't write I don't
1:39:57 have any good ideas so I can't
1:40:01 right they're all just excuses and
1:40:06 because some of those things may be true
1:40:08 maybe you didn't go to school maybe you
1:40:10 don't have good grammar maybe English
1:40:11 isn't your first language what it
1:40:13 doesn't right you have all those
1:40:16 limitations that in the olden timey days
1:40:20 like October 202 too that was still kind
1:40:23 of reality oh yeah like if I if I
1:40:26 actually want to get good at writing I
1:40:27 probably got to go back to school oh God
1:40:29 then I got to take out a loan and I got
1:40:31 it's like two years of my life and and
1:40:33 I'm already struggling and work sucks
1:40:35 and I'm too stressed out and I don't
1:40:37 want to take out a loan for a school for
1:40:38 a [ __ ] writing degree right all that
1:40:41 is in your head all the
1:40:45 time what
1:40:47 if all those excuses were gone
1:40:54 well just [ __ ]
1:40:56 right what would you do if you knew you
1:40:59 couldn't fail what would you do if what
1:41:02 was a barrier is suddenly
1:41:20 lifted think I got to restart my iPad
1:41:23 it's not loading images for [ __ ] right
1:41:28 now learn more about the US elections
1:41:33 amazing yeah well Tik tok's Chuck full
1:41:36 of AI we know that very valuable it's
1:41:39 transformative oh Carl thank you so much
1:41:41 I appreciate
1:41:47 it Derek yes I see they learn more about
1:41:50 the US elections dare I click the link
1:41:53 don't click the link don't click the

1:42:19 URL the salon. a right
1:42:23 there and the first link says AI Salon
1:42:27 Community go there and then when you get
1:42:30 there I want you to go to toward the top
1:42:33 of the list is a thing that says about
1:42:35 the
1:42:36 salon I want you to read about the
1:42:40 salon I don't want you to just join and
1:42:43 lurk and be a
1:42:45 nin it's a nin free
1:42:49 zone and and what be being not a nin
1:42:52 means is read about the salon read what
1:42:56 we're
1:42:57 about read our
1:43:00 values and like really take them in and
1:43:03 if those values sound like the kind of
1:43:05 people you want to hang out
1:43:07 with we're your people and if those
1:43:11 values sound like oh stab me in the eye
1:43:13 with a fork then we're not your
1:43:17 people I want this community to grow but
1:43:20 I want it to grow
1:43:21 and maintain kind of the magic that it's
1:43:24 got right now and that's those values
1:43:27 were not just written like a
1:43:28 successories
1:43:30 poster those values were who this group
1:43:33 was when we said hey this thing's
1:43:34 starting to grow who are we that we want
1:43:37 to keep that's what those values
1:43:40 are if Leah's still here she'll remember
1:43:43 the you know the whatever it was the
1:43:46 week or so we all got together and said
1:43:49 this thing's growing what of this do we
1:43:52 like what do we want to
1:43:56 keep and then [ __ ] join jump in with
1:43:59 both feet introduce yourself introduce
1:44:01 yourself
1:44:03 generously here's who I am here's what
1:44:06 I'm about here's what I believe here's
1:44:09 where I am with
1:44:11 AI I'm I'm a scared little child with AI
1:44:14 I'm I'm better at AI than everyone in
1:44:17 the world wherever you are awesome come
1:44:19 on in
1:44:21 you won't be
1:44:22 judged we all know you don't know
1:44:25 anything none of us know
1:44:30 anything one thing I can promise you
1:44:32 right now this is this is
1:44:35 fact this is fact this is this is as as
1:44:39 good a fact as if it were written in
1:44:42 [Laughter]
1:44:45 Wikipedia anyone that tells you they
1:44:47 know what they're doing right now is
1:44:49 full of [ __ ] nobody knows what they're
1:44:52 doing right now which is why you need
1:44:54 community and you need the right
1:44:56 community and I think the salon's the
1:44:58 right community and it doesn't cost you
1:45:00 anything by the way oh now he's selling
1:45:02 us this community he's probably just
1:45:03 trying to get the
1:45:05 subscription no it's
1:45:08 free someone in here last night said
1:45:10 there's some other [ __ ] Yahoo on Tik
1:45:13 Tok out there got his little Community
1:45:15 going charging
1:45:17 $495 to join his damn
1:45:19 community
1:45:22 I'm losing for every one of you that
1:45:24 joins the salon tonight that is an
1:45:27 opportunity loss for for me of
1:45:33 $495 you you can pay me in
1:45:39 blantons that's what the bottle looks
1:45:47 like oh Carl I Rec recently made a music
1:45:51 video for a local artist and could
1:45:53 create some something we have a thousand
1:45:56 me oh yeah we have a thousand members
1:45:57 yeah we hit a thousand
1:45:59 members three nights ago we had a big
1:46:02 thousand member party he's a member of
1:46:04 the salon now that's
1:46:06 awesome I like your Vibe thank you very
1:46:08 much zuru Guru AI just confuses me
1:46:11 that's okay it should it yes ai ai is
1:46:15 confusing as [ __ ] so so SoCal jws just
1:46:19 keep hanging out here like
1:46:21 Let It Be osmosis Let It Be
1:46:24 osmosis I recently made a loc a music
1:46:27 video for a local artist and could
1:46:29 create some awesome Village imagery yep
1:46:33 absolutely um Carl um check out when you
1:46:37 when you go to the salon check out Sher
1:46:39 D's videos also go to the um go to the
1:46:43 video Guild um Scott young I think is
1:46:46 his last name runs the video Guild um
1:46:49 there's there's there's a bunch of
1:46:50 people in the salon right now doing
1:46:52 really interesting work with music and
1:46:54 and video Sharon mendenhal is making
1:46:56 lots of music with um with
1:47:00 sunno so there's lots of lots of people
1:47:03 already doing stuff that could be
1:47:05 interesting to connect
1:47:07 with we have a mole all right thank you
1:47:10 for your service you're welcome was
1:47:12 watching him this
1:47:14 evening do you take AI generated
1:47:19 currency
1:47:23 I'll put it in my AI generated bank
1:47:25 right here my AI generated
1:47:26 [Laughter]
1:47:31 pocket you know that's that's not that
1:47:33 far off I mean you can certainly get AI
1:47:35 to write you a a you know salinity
1:47:38 contract so so you could you could make
1:47:41 you can whip up some NF nfts in
1:47:43 cryptocurrency pretty quick if you
1:47:44 wanted
1:47:48 to Oh Lordy lordy lordy lordy lordy
1:47:52 lordy lordy lordy but he's an expert
1:47:57 exactly language fluency matters to
1:47:59 master
1:48:01 AI
1:48:04 deene not
1:48:06 necessarily
1:48:15 [Music]
1:48:18 watch let's Go which one do I want to go
1:48:22 to think I'll go to
1:48:31 Korea I don't know if you've seen
1:48:36 Kaa but I'm going to get rid of the
1:48:40 prompt Al together I
1:48:42 think and then AI
1:48:47 strength Okay so so on the left we have
1:48:53 inputs and on the right we have output
1:48:56 or input output input output so on the
1:49:01 left I can do things
1:49:07 like let's
1:49:19 see I'm using no words there's no prompt
1:49:22 for
1:49:41 this yeah that's
1:49:49 good
1:49:52 no no words this is ka. a yes thanks
1:49:55 Brandon um I can also do this this is
1:49:59 dangerous
1:50:01 but is this it no that's not it which
1:50:04 one is
1:50:05 it that
1:50:10 one where's my camera oh
1:50:15 laow all right there's me let me lower
1:50:19 the a I input
1:50:36 here can I draw a shape on top of this I
1:50:39 bet I
1:50:41 can
1:50:46 [Music]
1:50:49 yeah
1:50:52 I got some
1:50:53 little camera things going on let's see
1:50:57 all
1:50:58 right
1:51:00 so what am I doing here
1:51:04 well the the comment that you need to be
1:51:07 a master of language to be good at
1:51:11 AI was true in
1:51:15 2023 and listen it ain't going to hurt
1:51:18 you to be good at language to use AI
1:51:23 moving forward
1:51:26 but what if I became the best in the
1:51:29 world at
1:51:32 this what if I put together a theater
1:51:37 Troop that was just like that show wait
1:51:39 wait don't tell me an improv
1:51:42 group but there was a a new member of
1:51:45 the
1:51:47 cast and it was the person doing this
1:51:51 prompting and and understanding this
1:51:54 technology and the audience would throw
1:51:56 out scenarios and the improv group would
1:51:58 act it and then the prompter or the
1:52:01 series of prompters would be prompting
1:52:03 the system to turn those actors into
1:52:07 monsters and characters and
1:52:12 ships I could see that being a Vegas
1:52:15 stage
1:52:16 show [ __ ]
1:52:19 tomorrow
1:52:28 who's that going to
1:52:30 be is it going to be an actor is it
1:52:33 going to be an
1:52:34 engineer is it going to
1:52:36 be a
1:52:38 Potter who discovers this tool and says
1:52:41 I'm just going to keep playing with this
1:52:43 for the next can you imagine if you just
1:52:45 played with this tool for the next three
1:52:47 months how good you'd get at it
1:52:54 and what could be
1:52:55 possible yeah let's do it Source Camp
1:52:58 let's do it why
1:53:07 not five years
1:53:10 ago that's called kore.ai by the way
1:53:13 that
1:53:13 tool I got to get rid of my it's
1:53:16 freaking me
1:53:19 out
1:53:22 two three years
1:53:24 ago 23
1:53:28 22 in
1:53:35 20 in early
1:53:39 2022 I was having a talk with Adam I
1:53:42 forget Adam's last
1:53:44 name but he was the the CEO and founder
1:53:47 of a project called pixel mind pixel
1:53:50 mind was the first project I got into
1:53:52 where I was playing with AI image
1:53:55 generation really cool
1:53:58 project and Adam built a whole nft art
1:54:03 project on top of stable diffusion and
1:54:06 that's what pixel mind was and so you
1:54:09 know he he he
1:54:11 was way up to speed on stable diffusion
1:54:14 long before you know any most people I
1:54:19 know and and really cool project and I
1:54:22 was talking to him one night and he said
1:54:25 he said Kyle within 5
1:54:28 years you're going to be able to sit in
1:54:32 an
1:54:34 auditorium and someone will be standing
1:54:36 at the front of the
1:54:38 auditorium and they'll be describing a
1:54:40 movie to you and as they describe it it
1:54:43 will be rendering behind them in real
1:54:47 time and I thought he was [ __ ] high
1:54:50 like I didn't I like I was looking at
1:54:53 stable diffusion which you you'd fill in
1:54:56 some Mad Libs kind of things and it
1:54:58 would make kind of an image and it would
1:55:00 slowly come to life and then it would be
1:55:02 this kind of cool image but they were
1:55:03 just janky ass weird ass
1:55:07 images and I couldn't imagine that what
1:55:09 he was saying to me could could happen
1:55:13 in 5 years much less
1:55:16 10 and now I just look at that
1:55:21 that Korea
1:55:22 thing is based on technology from
1:55:25 stability
1:55:26 AI the company that he built his company
1:55:29 on that's called sdxl
1:55:32 turbo So Korea is just using an OP
1:55:37 Source tool model that does that real
1:55:41 time
1:55:43 [ __ ] that
1:55:45 was two years ago he said within five
1:55:49 years
1:55:52 that'll be a
1:55:54 reality that could be a reality within a
1:56:08 year who's going to make that movie
1:56:10 who's going to be the one at the at the
1:56:12 front of the auditorium speaking that
1:56:15 movie into
1:56:17 existence is it you it could
1:56:21 be well I I always did want to learn how
1:56:25 to make make videos with the video
1:56:28 camera all right start
1:56:34 playing go make a movie go make a music
1:56:40 video Sherry D was out there bragging
1:56:42 about how she's doing all this AI stuff
1:56:44 and one of her High School buddies
1:56:45 called up and said hey I got a I got a
1:56:48 band we got songs you want to make a
1:56:50 music video she's like oh [ __ ] what did
1:56:52 I do you know what she did she went and
1:56:56 she made a music video right
1:57:00 shery then she made another one and she
1:57:03 made another one now she just did one
1:57:05 for the 48 the Gen 48
1:57:08 competition it's really good and then
1:57:10 she made another
1:57:14 one you think that was on her bingo card
1:57:17 two years
1:57:18 ago
1:57:22 you think me at 58 was sitting there
1:57:25 plotting away to figure out how to get
1:57:28 on Tik Tock a year and a half
1:57:31 ago
1:57:35 no like what the [ __ ] am I doing with my
1:57:39 life I have been
1:57:42 consumed by
1:57:48 possibility
1:57:58 so not under bingo card three weeks ago
1:58:01 exactly hell no what's going on I don't
1:58:04 know what's going on Ethan I am I have
1:58:07 been waxing philosophic all night about
1:58:09 AI because I got really inspired
1:58:12 tonight I got to meet for the first time
1:58:15 in person the co-founder of the AI Salon
1:58:19 Lea FAS that was super amazing and she's
1:58:22 an amazing woman so we got to
1:58:25 meet and I just got in touch with what's
1:58:29 really going on here so I've been I've
1:58:30 been talking about
1:58:32 that Source Camp Ethan we're learning
1:58:34 about AI
1:58:37 tools and we're learning
1:58:45 about what we need to
1:58:47 do to be able to deal with what's
1:58:54 coming and it it ain't about skills it
1:58:57 ain't about reading the [ __ ]
1:59:06 manuals I can't even afford a damn bingo
1:59:16 card oh
1:59:18 man is that cool relationships are
1:59:20 getting Global yeah it's pretty cool
1:59:23 it's pretty
1:59:26 cool you know it's also funny it's like
1:59:28 the it's just it's like all these things
1:59:31 are converging you know as much as
1:59:33 [ __ ] up as as the pandemic was or is
1:59:37 was
1:59:39 whatever it kind of trained
1:59:43 us it trained us to connect with these
1:59:46 tools in in
1:59:48 ways
1:59:53 we all assumed we not
1:59:56 possible you can't just not go to the
1:59:59 office business would cease to
2:00:03 exist pring pandemic sit in your [ __ ]
2:00:07 house for two years
2:00:10 okay and we did and [ __ ] it it got
2:00:14 [ __ ] weird and depressing and you
2:00:16 know
2:00:18 traumatic and now we know how to do that
2:00:21 and now we can
2:00:24 choose like there's there's all sorts of
2:00:26 all sorts of stuff came out of that that
2:00:29 like the the big profound thing for me
2:00:31 that came out of the pandemic
2:00:34 was like we as humans just made
2:00:38 up what work
2:00:41 means we just made it
2:00:44 up work means Monday to Friday 9 to 5 or
2:00:50 you know if you're on a shift worker
2:00:51 you've got some other flavor of that but
2:00:53 it's you
2:00:54 know you've got your 8 hour shift you
2:00:57 put in your five six days a week you get
2:01:00 in the car you drive to the thing you
2:01:01 get out of the thing you go to your
2:01:03 thing at lunch you go to Chach
2:01:08 Keys you secretly resent the waiters
2:01:11 with too much flare and then you go
2:01:15 home we agreed that that was what work
2:01:17 was as globally
2:01:21 and then
2:01:22 globally like literally overnight you're
2:01:26 like no no we're just not going to do
2:01:29 that now what's that mean I don't just
2:01:31 stay home okay how are we supposed to do
2:01:36 this I I've got a classroom full of
2:01:38 third graders yeah they get they'll get
2:01:40 iPads we'll give them iPads that's
2:01:42 that's why iPads were invented was for
2:01:44 the third graders you're you're good
2:01:46 just how do I teach third graders on
2:01:49 iPad
2:01:50 what
2:01:53 help we figured it out we just made that
2:01:56 [ __ ] up so AI is going to do the same
2:01:59 [ __ ] where it's just going to break [ __ ]
2:02:01 it's just going to break what work
2:02:06 is what if you didn't have to work 40
2:02:08 hours a week to do the [ __ ] that's
2:02:10 expected of you what if it were
2:02:13 five what if it were
2:02:18 two
2:02:19 what are you going to do with the other
2:02:21 35
2:02:22 hours well I got I gotta I got to work
2:02:25 it's the the value is in the it's it's
2:02:27 in the time we put
2:02:29 in
2:02:31 okay unless it's
2:02:36 not we changed the rules before we just
2:02:39 did it a couple of years ago we can do
2:02:41 it
2:02:44 again well you can't do that that's not
2:02:46 the way business works I
2:02:48 know
2:02:51 how do you make money what's a job
2:02:53 what's work what's value what's what's
2:02:56 valuable what's
2:03:00 valuable there's a really good piece by
2:03:02 Ethan mullik if you haven't read it
2:03:08 called something about pushing the
2:03:10 button push the button are you going to
2:03:13 push the button something like
2:03:15 that and he talks about this he wrote
2:03:18 this like a year ago he talks
2:03:21 about pretty soon we're going to have ai
2:03:24 like in everything like in Microsoft
2:03:26 Word and in Google Docs and in notion
2:03:30 and you know like it is now like you can
2:03:32 have it in everything it's there now
2:03:34 right so this was a year ago so he said
2:03:37 you
2:03:38 know pretty soon in the future like next
2:03:41 year you're going to have a button in
2:03:44 all of your document in in all of your
2:03:47 programs that's the write it for me
2:03:49 button
2:03:50 button and then and then he he he talked
2:03:53 about so where's the value in writing
2:03:57 and the example that he used is if a
2:04:00 student he's a business school Professor
2:04:02 if a student comes into his
2:04:04 office and says Mr mullik can you write
2:04:07 me a recommendation letter of
2:04:12 recommendation and then student walks
2:04:14 out of the
2:04:15 office and what Ethan mullik said is
2:04:18 does he push the button
2:04:21 because he knows if he pushes the button
2:04:22 it's going to write a [ __ ] brilliant
2:04:24 recommendation letter and it's going to
2:04:25 do it in like 2 minutes or does he take
2:04:28 the two hours to write the letter and
2:04:31 then he paits the question where's the
2:04:35 value is the value in the two hours is
2:04:38 the value that he took the two hours to
2:04:40 write the letter or is the value in the
2:04:43 kid gets a
2:04:46 job I don't
2:04:48 know
2:04:50 if you can write an effective letter in
2:04:52 2
2:04:53 minutes does it matter
2:04:56 that is it value is it valued
2:05:00 less I think in today's current
2:05:02 standards it is I think we would say
2:05:04 today well yeah he didn't take the time
2:05:06 it's not as
2:05:08 valuable if the kid gets the job does it
2:05:11 [ __ ]
2:05:13 matter one useful thing oh thanks
2:05:16 Brandon setting time on fire and the
2:05:19 temptation of the button that's it
2:05:22 that's it yeah go to one useful thing.
2:05:25 org setting time on fire and the
2:05:27 temptation of the
2:05:28 button thank you for finding that it's a
2:05:32 really good article and it's and it's
2:05:34 like I keep hearing I keep hearing in
2:05:37 the salon community and I keep hearing
2:05:38 it in here I keep hearing people
2:05:40 apologize for using Ai and it's
2:05:44 increasingly pissing me
2:05:46 off cuz cuz there's a guilt there's a
2:05:49 guilt of if it only took me 5 minutes to
2:05:52 make that brilliant piece of artwork
2:05:55 it's not
2:05:56 valuable I feel guilty that it's that
2:05:59 good that
2:06:00 quick sorry I don't really have any
2:06:03 Talent it was just a cute little prompt
2:06:07 sorry stop [ __ ]
2:06:15 apologizing and I'm saying that to
2:06:17 myself too I'm finding myself doing it
2:06:20 too don't [ __ ] don't
2:06:23 apologize if the work's
2:06:26 good and it represents your voice back
2:06:29 to having a voice put it out
2:06:34 there and [ __ ]
2:06:36 dance you got it done in five minutes
2:06:39 great look at you mastering the tools of
2:06:42 the
2:06:48 future
2:06:52 I'm not really good it didn't I don't I
2:06:54 don't really have these
2:06:56 skills you do
2:06:57 [Applause]
2:06:59 now you're a [ __ ]
2:07:02 wizard seriously to people that don't
2:07:06 know
2:07:07 AI if you're asked to light a write a
2:07:10 letter of recommendation and you turn it
2:07:12 around in two minutes by the time that
2:07:14 student checked his phone next that
2:07:17 letter was written and was sent
2:07:20 to whatever Professor it was supposed to
2:07:21 be sent
2:07:24 to he's going to look at that and go
2:07:27 holy [ __ ] how did he do
2:07:31 that who cares how he did
2:07:39 it anyway all right enough wax and
2:07:43 poetic here's here's here's kind of why
2:07:45 I went philosophic tonight is if in
2:07:49 indeed Google launches Gemini Ultra
2:07:51 tomorrow which is the rumor and if
2:07:54 indeed it doesn't suck like like we'll
2:07:57 we'll spend at least a day on it right
2:07:59 we we'll spend at least tomorrow on it
2:08:02 and probably the next
2:08:06 day if it sucks then we'll just go back
2:08:08 to our regularly scheduled programming
2:08:10 but if but if Gemini Ultra is indeed as
2:08:13 good as chat gp4 and it's
2:08:15 multimodal and it's just a different
2:08:17 [ __ ] thing
2:08:21 like this the conversation in here is
2:08:23 going to be weird for a while because
2:08:26 we're going to be trying to figure out
2:08:27 what is this thing how do we use it
2:08:29 how's it better how's it different it
2:08:31 might not be that
2:08:33 dramatic but it could be and like
2:08:36 that'll be tomorrow right and then
2:08:40 what's very possible that happens
2:08:41 tomorrow comes and goes and there's no
2:08:43 Gemini Ultra and we're just sitting here
2:08:44 sucking our thumbs going well we thought
2:08:46 we were going to get a really cool tool
2:08:48 why didn't we get the cool tool Kyle
2:08:49 Kyle I came here cuz you said Gemini
2:08:51 Ultra was launching and it didn't launch
2:08:52 and what are you doing now what are you
2:08:53 doing my life this is a waste of my time
2:08:55 I don't even know why I come here why do
2:08:56 you talk to me like that I don't talk
2:08:58 like that why are you making fun of me
2:08:59 why are you making fun of me are you
2:09:01 trolling me why are you trolling me I
2:09:03 feel
2:09:08 triggered don't be triggered I'm just a
2:09:11 Gen X [ __ ] all right I got to get out
2:09:15 of here people um Okay
