25. 7:15thing I got fed up with my internet so I called Xfinity and I got one of their stupid [ __ ] modems this was this was staggering
26. 7:27Okay so I've been an Xfinity customer I don't know years right cuz I like torture and I have my air conditioner on
27. 7:37it's it got hot in here so it's going to be loud but whatever um okay so I call him up I'm like hey I got shitty internet I'm thinking of
28. 7:46leaveing Xfinity can you give me a deal and my internet sucks can we make it better sure we got a package it'll save
29. 7:55you 30 bucks a month you even get a free security camera and we'll say send you out a modem and and I said and the modem has a
30. 8:06router in it right it's got Wi-Fi in it correct yeah it's a modem right and it has Wi-Fi in it correct so so it was you know 40 minutes
31. 8:1840 minutes of just getting it going I had to like they texted me a link to a website where I had to go accept the
32. 8:25deal the terms of the deal with the thing then we're going to send you the thing three to five business days you're
33. 8:30going to have we're going to send you the the modem we're going to send you the camera good to go all right woo what a pleasant customer
34. 8:45experience customer service experience three days later no two days later a a day ahead of their minim their their
35. 8:55minimum a box shows up from Xfinity and I'm like like ooh good internet's here woo so I open the B it's a big box
36. 9:08so I open the box and there's one little box in it like this big and it's the camera and no [Laughter] router
37. 9:23so so it picks up I picks up my telephone and it dials on the road rotary telephone dial I goes to the old and timey Google
38. 9:35search and I search exfinity dial the number and I'm on a hold for I don't know 20 minutes and then I got on the call was someone
39. 9:48who just didn't know what they were doing and couldn't understand them and then I'm told well there's no
40. 9:59order for a modem here there's just an order for a camera but I can sell you a modem because it says here that you've
41. 10:07got your own modem and we're we're going to send you if you want your own an Xfinity modem that's $15 a month I said
42. 10:15no I talked to a guy he said it's included in the package deal do you see my conversation with the guy do you see
43. 10:22the package deal no okay so now we're at 35 minutes can I talk to your supervisor sure but they're going to say the same thing
44. 10:33okay so I get on the thing with the supervisor and I said here's the deal and he's like ah I see your thing here
45. 10:41yeah we can we can ship you out that modem there but we need to complete the transaction for the camera we sent you I
46. 10:50said okay great he goes I can't do that that's the home security division so he put me on hold for another 5 minutes we got the home
47. 11:00security dude on who completed the camera transaction and then he goes okay Kyle we're going to get you set up with
48. 11:08your little modem here we're going to get it sent out oops there's an error the error is you've got your own
49. 11:18modem so I can't make a ticket to send this out unless I disable your modem and like so I'm not going to have
50. 11:31internet for 3 to five business days because you guys can't activate it after you send it that is correct that is correct Mr
51. 11:42Shannon I understand your frustration oh do you do you so what you're saying is I got to drive to the [ __ ] store anyway I
52. 11:51could have done a week ago so I drove to the store and he said yeah I'm going to have to disconnect your existing internet because you have
53. 12:03your own modem and I can't let you walk out of the store unless we change the code that you don't have your own modem you have one of our
54. 12:13modems so anyway if I'm glitching tonight I I bad things are going to happen to someone at [Music] Xfinity so anyway it should be better
55. 12:29unbelievable like staggeringly unbelievable like like and it's just one of those things where you can't argue with it because
56. 12:37it's like all they've got is their system and it determined that if someone has their own modem you have to disable
57. 12:45that before you give them an Xfinity modem that makes sense but you should be able to send it to them before you disable it and that
58. 12:57wasn't an it specif ifications for that part of the software request oh my God these [ __ ] corporations like does anyone from these
59. 13:08corporations ever try to get service from their own [ __ ] [Music] company what can you or your audience

89. 19:40one thing you put in your 10,000 hours right you go get your degree you put in your 10,000 hours on weekends and nights for 3 years four
90. 19:54years and because of that because you had to put in all that time for that one thing you tended to do that one thing
91. 20:03and because doing that one thing was hard the society rewarded that for kind of all of human
92. 20:21history and then off to the side were the theatricals [Laughter]
93. 20:37and the specialist always just kind of tolerated us yeah we need you occasionally go design a thing yeah go
94. 20:42make the could you make me a PowerPoint presentation thanks you little design monkey that's awesome I made money again
95. 20:50with chat gbt 500 bucks for 3 hours of Consulting awesome rock on and so all of the of a sudden in the next 3
96. 21:03years that equation is going to flip completely upside down where people that spent 5 years 10 years 20 years doing a single thing I'm a
97. 21:20this are getting commoditized out of the market as the as the capability of generative I goes up the need for specialist goes down

99. 21:50can think horizontally so maybe you've got someone who's got deep expertise in something but they've got a broad perspective
100. 21:58they're really good at critical thinking they're really good at curating things from lots of different things like
101. 22:02creative directors and and certain kinds of strategists that by the nature of their job they have to look across disciplines
102. 22:13right if you work at an agency for example especially a digital agency you've got developers and you've got
103. 22:19interface people and you got ux people and you got CX people and you have account people and you've got creative
104. 22:25directors and you got artists you got writers so so if you work in an environment where the business is pulling all that [ __ ]
105. 22:35together you go from being valuable because you can pull all that [ __ ] together to critical because all those Specialists
106. 22:46are not going to be needed how far are we how far away are we from sensient AI I don't know and the sentience thing is a really
107. 23:00interesting one there's is it actually sensient or do we perceive it as sensient and is there a
108. 23:15difference and that I don't know but if you listen to the open AI the the the release of gp4 omni
109. 23:29and like if you watch that one video of the guy going you know hey how am I dressed for this job job interview and she's
110. 23:37like you know you're looking okay I mean if you're going for a tech job then he puts on the bucket hat and she's like
111. 23:46whoops I don't know if that's the look you're going for the engine sitting underneath that is not sensient but it is
112. 23:59Beyond anthropomorphized right it's like the movie her so so there's so one definition of sensient is do we perceive these things
113. 24:11as sensient whether they are or aren't and if we do does that change how we interact with them does that change things
114. 24:19like do you turn them off uh-oh bad people are here so there's that and then there's do the devices themselves or does the software itself
115. 24:34ever attain sensient and it might if you listen to David Shapiro he he talks about um I think it was Claude 3 started showing
116. 24:45signs of sensient but it's relatively easy to argue that it's just a probability engine and that what it's doing mechanically
117. 25:01is mechanical and cold and unfeeling the data it's been trained on is very human which is why it feels so human
118. 25:09but I would have had a different answer three days ago three days ago they announced these brain organoids
119. 25:18I think it's a Swiss company is that right and they've taken human stem cells and they've grown them into brain tissue
120. 25:29and they make these little organoids I don't know why they call them organ organoids other than that's what you
121. 25:35would name them if you were if you were making a science fiction movie and you wanted to freak people out but what they have figured out how
122. 25:45to do now is they can keep them alive a little bit longer I think they they were living like 10 hours they basically they
123. 25:54basically um starve of oxygen they don't have a circulatory system so they're trying to figure out like an oxygen rich
124. 26:00medium they can put them in but they designed a chip that can hold 16 of these H human brain tissue organoids in
125. 26:10a computer chip that you can interact with it's an actual neural network so neural networks the things that make all
126. 26:21of this generative AI stuff possible are computer systems that were designed to mimic how we think the brain works well these
127. 26:31things are how the brain works they take very little power um and apparently they can learn quite quickly
128. 26:39and you have to give them like if you give if you just train them on stuff they don't do well but if you give them rules they learn really
129. 26:48quickly so all of a sudden we go from this thing being a probability engine to this thing being a set of inputs and out outputs to
130. 26:5916 pieces of brain tissue that [ __ ] thing could get sensient pretty [ __ ] quick right Kyle could you do a zappier

170. 33:37tokens thing and then took a moment to look at the answer and said hey here's the question here's the answer what do
171. 33:47we think Bob did we get it right oops nope it's wrong let's try again that I would love because it just it seems to me that's
172. 34:02it's this is a guy with an acting degree telling scientists how to do their job but like it's a second system I think
173. 34:09right you've got one system that generates the response then you have another system that looks at it analyzes
174. 34:15it somehow cuz these llms are good at that [ __ ] they're good at analyzing stuff so why not combine those two so

199. 38:51have the right API key or your API key expired but it takes you 45 minutes to [ __ ] figure that that [ __ ] out that
200. 38:59the that's that's the problem with zappier like conceptually it's really easy you have these little Lego blocks
201. 39:04you have inputs then you process them then you have outputs but you have to connect all these different accounts and
202. 39:11you got to get them talking to each other and then you think you got it going but then you don't so that's

215. 41:33know it makes it s that sounds like I just [ __ ] made that up thousand dimensional Vector space but that's what it
216. 41:44is so inside this box is thousand or more dimensional Vector space and there's all these vectors what's a
217. 41:52vector you know in an XY chart you've got a point on the XY AIS AIS this is a two-dimensional Vector space and so if
218. 42:01you're like up three and over seven 3A 7 that's that point in space so imagine that times a th with trillions of points of

227. 43:47about a specific mathematical equation hey all of the knowledge of the public internet for the past 70 years tell me
228. 43:54about this mathematical equation in this knowledge base think of it kind of like the Grand Canyon in and in all the canyon there's
229. 44:04all these little sub canyons and things like that and when you just say tell me about this mathematical equation it's
230. 44:09it's basically the helicopters really high above the Grand Canyon it's looking down in all the nooks and crannies and
231. 44:15in one of the nooks and crannies is a math professor from Stamford that actually invented that equation and then
232. 44:23in some other nook and cranny or a bunch of students who were studying with that guy and and they were really smart about
233. 44:30it and then also in those nooks and crannies were a bunch of football players that were forced to take a math
234. 44:37class so that they could graduate and they tried to understand that [ __ ] equation but they didn't care and they
235. 44:44wrote a bunch of joke answers to that stupid math equation so if you just ask all of the Grand Canyon tell me about
236. 44:52that math equation it'll essentially pull anything that's relevant to that prom and kind of amalgamate it and give you
237. 45:00its highest probability answer so mixed in with the good [ __ ] is the bad [ __ ] so if you say I want you to act like a
238. 45:09Stamford mathematics professor that came up with that equation and I want you to tell me about it what it does is it sort
239. 45:15of lowers the helicopter into that little sub Canyon where that specialty knowledge is and it's it's only

249. 46:46are relevant to that it tells you to eat rocks I like to eat rocks I like rocks um with chat GPT don't think of it like a search and
250. 47:01search and response like a promp and response think of it more like a conversation so rather than just saying
251. 47:09Hey I want you to write me a marketing plan say hey I'm starting a business and here's what my business is about and
252. 47:17here's what I'm all about and I want you to act like a marketing expert and and then um what do you think of my business
253. 47:25and then it's going to respond and tell you what thinks of your business and none of that's actually relevant to
254. 47:30where we're headed but why you do that is because you're adding all this context around what you're talking about so it's increasingly
255. 47:41narrowing the the expertise that it's pulling from right so if you start out you tell it you're starting a business
256. 47:49and you you um you want it to be different than every other business out there and and um you want to start with
257. 47:57the marketing and you don't even have a name for the business and maybe we're going to come up with the name for the
258. 48:01business and maybe even before you have it give you names you have it write a creative brief based on all the other
259. 48:08[ __ ] you you said give you a creative brief let it write the creative brief and then say now give me 20 names based
260. 48:15on that creative brief so now you've done you know five minutes of conversation that's just increasingly narrowing narrowing narrowing the
261. 48:25expertise of this thing to solve your specific problem so it's completely opposite from a Google search more

396. 1:12:57knowledge they could glean off the public internet right so they used all sorts of fancy ass web scraping tools
397. 1:13:05they they effectively compress that knowledge into this new way of of compressing it and searching it called a
398. 1:13:14Transformer that transforms it from words and papers and documents into a mathematical space with these things called tokens it
399. 1:13:25doesn't [ __ ] matter but it's thousand dimensional mathematical space okay that's GPT so when you hear them talk about
400. 1:13:33gp4 or gp4 Omni that's the underlying model chat GPT sits right there this is an application that actually when you type
401. 1:13:46when you log in and you see the little prompt and it's got those little starter questions and you type in your prompt
402. 1:13:52and it gives you an answer and it can code and it color codes all that that's an application that the people at open
403. 1:14:00aai wrote that sits on top of this and that's why if you go you you'll sometimes hear people say oh Microsoft
404. 1:14:10co-pilot is free chat GPT 4 it's not really they both use the same underlying model but this is chat GPT this is
405. 1:14:21co-pilot and co-pilot got lobotomized shortly after it came out so it still hasn't caught up okay so anyway GPT 4 chat GPT and then what do
406. 1:14:34they name the little customized things gpts because why not confuse the [ __ ] out of people so this is a custom GPT

423. 1:17:58English um so there's some writing ones here's productivity ones um research ones so anyway you can search these so my very first GPT I ever
424. 1:18:09made I love I love Hawking this one cuz it's fun it's called Sin City sipper so if you go to chat GPT right
425. 1:18:20now and you click on Sin City sipper so now we're in chat
426. 1:18:36GPT but we're in a subset of it that I have written a specific prompt that says I just want a GPT that's its only purpose in life is to
427. 1:18:48make cocktail recipes and it's so it's a Vegas bartender with a Twist on the classics # Ender # Mixology and then I've got these little
428. 1:18:58pre-written questions and they're all about it being a um a bartender so reinvent the margarita for me so I click on
429. 1:19:07that and it comes up with a drink recipe for us and then it actually starts making the image of the drink but let's see
430. 1:19:15what it created High Roller Margarita 2 O of Premium tequila Rosado or ano grandar nice lime juice agave nectar orange
431. 1:19:28bitters gold salt for [ __ ] nice and then a lime wheel an edible Gold Leaf for garnish and so there's your
432. 1:19:37instructions on how to make it and there's your drink there there's the photograph of your drink ready for your
433. 1:19:44menu right so custom gpts are these things that allow you to just I I've got another one that makes pictures of 7s
434. 1:19:54muscle car Resto mods and it makes them look like a poster you would have hung on your walls in the in the
435. 1:20:001970s and it's awesome and fun and then some of them are super serious we did we did a project between New Year or Christmas and New
436. 1:20:09Year's where we got as many people as we could and a lot of the people in this channel that are Irregulars um and we built as many gpts
437. 1:20:18as we could for nonprofits and in a 24-hour period this community built 150 gpts it was amazing for nonprofits now one of the challenges of
438. 1:20:30gpts is that they historically have only been available to people that pay the 20 Buck a month subscription to chat gbt
439. 1:20:41most people weren't doing that so open AI just made these things available for everyone and I'm actually going to go
440. 1:20:48check something cuz as of 4 days ago you still couldn't make images with a free account account let's see if they've
441. 1:20:55changed that my guess is they're not going to change that until they launch the new image generation tool for paid
442. 1:21:02members is my guess but let's let's see so if I go to chat GPT all right and if I go to cinity
443. 1:21:18sipper let's make a classic martini classier come on we'll see if it can actually make an image yet
444. 1:21:34nope all right I can't create images right now so get chat GPT plus to create images and more so they've got it they've got
445. 1:21:44that part of it hobbled but you can still use the GPT so especially if you're using things for writing or
446. 1:21:51things that do Advanced Data analysis things like that um you you can do all that now even though it can't generate images it it
447. 1:22:03does have you can upload images to it and have it analyze images you upload even with the free version so let's close that does that answer
448. 1:22:12your question so it's like work is already done yes exactly it's exactly it's like it's like someone who's super
449. 1:22:22passionate about a topic has pre pre- prompted chat GPT to do something specific for you so like maybe someone's super into
450. 1:22:34gardening or flower arranging or interior design they can create a GPT that's trained on their specific knowledge they can prompt it in a
451. 1:22:42specific way they can even upload like if they've written a book about the theory of you know funu in interior
452. 1:22:50design they can upload a PDF of their book and use that as the colge base for that GPT so you can interact with their
453. 1:22:57book I made a custom Excel wizard GPT and it blew my mind I'm light years ahead of my co-workers now I so I don't
454. 1:23:07know how to say your name wait Mack Mack Maca I don't know how to read cilic letters but I got Mack um but yes exactly you can you you
455. 1:23:23know these G gpts here's the other thing about gpts that I I find amazing um they're so easy to make in fact should we just make
456. 1:23:40one they're so easy to make that you can you can make them can chat GPT highlight colorized changes you make to a document you upload

460. 1:24:43and I and I'll tell you what I mean by that even though that what you're creating when you create a custom GPT is an incred L sophisticated
461. 1:24:56application that has all of the Power of chat GPT 4 Omni sitting underneath the hood you can make really trivial gpts or really
462. 1:25:07short you know limited audience gpts and I'll give you example Peter Kaminsky was the first one to he told me this and I
463. 1:25:16like I just lost my mind it broke my brain he said hey Kyle I just got off a conference call with four other people
464. 1:25:24people and I took the transcript of that call and I used that as the knowledge base for the GPT so I created a GPT
465. 1:25:31about that phone call and I sent it to the four people that were on the call and I said hey the call notes for what
466. 1:25:39we talked about are in here so you can ask this GPT about what we talked about and it will know like that that just blew my mind
467. 1:25:49cuz when I typically think about software development you're like I've got to make this really powerful app
468. 1:25:53that's going to change the world and no you could make one that just remembers what you talked about in that call it's like holy [ __ ]
469. 1:26:03okay so we're going to try we're going to try a little experiment here the question the experiment question was if I upload a
470. 1:26:11document can you have chat GPT make changes to it and then highlight those changes so that's what we're going to

506. 1:32:28can you know scroll down through here you can search for things up in the right hand corner it says create so I'm going to create a
507. 1:32:37GPT and it throws us into this interface where there's a right hand Pane and a left hand pane on the left hand pane
508. 1:32:44this is where you invent it this is where you make it and on the right hand pan that's where you play with it what's
509. 1:32:49amazing about this is as you sort of type the the instructions to make it it's generating it over in the right
510. 1:32:57hand pain you can use it immediately you can test it immediately um some components over here so there's two modes there's create mode
511. 1:33:05and configure mode and I'll talk about configure first and then we'll flip over to create so when creating a GPT are you
512. 1:33:12keeping the instructions as a file or just pasting the instructions great question and the answer is actually could be both
513. 1:33:22um and you don't even need to think that hard about it initially so it'll make more sense in a second here on the
514. 1:33:31configure side the little plus button here is if we want to upload a picture you've got your name of your GPT your
515. 1:33:37description of your GPT the instructions this is your prompt right for what the GPT does and then it's got these things
516. 1:33:44called conversation starters so those are those pre- prompted questions so when I showed Sin City sipper earlier
517. 1:33:49and it said I want to make a classy or Martini or whatever it said that was one of these conversation starters that's
518. 1:33:55what I wrote in there then there are these things called knowledge you can upload knowledge to your GPT so if
519. 1:34:03you've written oh I'll I'll give you a really specific example we did this at my company Story vine we've got a sales
520. 1:34:10document it's a 50-page sales document we've put together over the past decade and it's there's just all sorts of [ __ ]
521. 1:34:17in it's really hard to parse and read we took our 50-page sales document uploaded it into a GPT and we now have an
522. 1:34:25interactive tool that tells us if if you encounter a certain problem here's how you position it if you want to talk to
523. 1:34:31this kind of customer here's how you do it so you can upload your own data to it the other thing you can do is you can
524. 1:34:37turn on or off all of the capabilities of chat GPT so web browsing you can turn on or off access to the internet you can
525. 1:34:45turn on or off the ability to generate images and you can turn on or off the ability to do um Advanced Data analysis
526. 1:34:52and then this ctions thing at the bottom if you're a programmer and you want to include apis to other services you can
