22. 5:25these shoes and this apron that place and it's patrons have taken more than I gave them you sing it along champy it's not easy to
23. 5:38know I'm not anything like I used to be oh it's true I was never attention sweet Center has to remember that girl she's in perfect but she
24. 5:56tries she is good but she lies she is hard on herself she is broken and won't ask for him she is messy but she's
25. 6:14kind she's lowely most of the time she is all of this mixed up and baked and beautiful pie she's gone but she used to be my
26. 6:33you're not what I ask for sometimes life just slips in through the back door and carves out a person makes you believe it's all
27. 6:46true and now I've got you you're not what I asked for if I'm honest I know I would give it all back for a chance to start over rewrite an

36. 8:40then we just shot the [ __ ] for like an hour and what we we we kind of came to a couple of conclusions and one of the
37. 8:50conclusions is AI is really frustrating right now because as remarkable as the tools are they're not ready for prime
38. 8:58time and so adoption is low awareness is low people that are playing with AI like holy [ __ ] this stuff's amazing it's
39. 9:09going to be amazing it's going to be amazing the goingon to be part is kind of the operative word and so we were talking about how do
40. 9:19you talk about how do you train how do you get people educated on a thing that is deeply profoundly powerful and [Laughter]
41. 9:34[Music] flawed what what we came up with what we kind of stumbled upon is in a lot of ways what this channel
42. 9:47is but we were talking about it in the context of work how do you train up you know if you're if you're Consulting with a
43. 9:59organization and they're like what should we do with AI where my head had been historically is well you put together an AI counsil
44. 10:09and you got to do all this big [ __ ] you got to like so here's your company today here's your company completely
45. 10:14transformed with AI and you know get yourself on this trajectory the problem is we don't know what that transformation looks like and
46. 10:23the tools right now you can't use the tools to do that cuz they're not ready for prime time they are some are some
47. 10:30are close some are close some are really close some are not close but it's hard to know they're just not quite there and
48. 10:39so what we kind of stumbled on was this thing that it's less important what you do with the AI but what is important is
49. 10:50that you get people in groups doing it together I thought that was really cool that and that's kind what this channel
50. 11:00is right we kind of hang out in here we collaborate in here and so if you're going to take AI into your company rather than saying you know
51. 11:11we've got to automate all these tasks and everyone sort of goes off in their separate Lanes what if you say why don't
52. 11:17we pick three tasks that are shitty tasks at our job and why don't we have like groups of five or six people get
53. 11:28together in a room room two hours a week right we'll do it on Tuesdays and Thursdays right after lunch or right
54. 11:34before lunch whatever it is and we'll we'll experiment with different I AI tools and you know one will use
55. 11:42perplexity and one will use Claude and one will use Gemini and one will use chat GPT and what you actually do is you have
56. 11:51fun together and you like experiment you see where they're broken and you see where they're shitty and you might
57. 11:57discover it's actually usable but what you're actually doing then is you're training people on how to behave rather than the
58. 12:09task of what to do because it's the tasks of what to do that are going to get automated and are going to be you
59. 12:18know constantly changing like it's like anything we build right now as soon as the next version of these tools come out
60. 12:25is all going to be useless anyway and if everyone sort of goes off into their own lanes and just does their
61. 12:31stuff you're not going to get this experimental you know fluid adaptable organism or series of organisms within
62. 12:42your company so anyway daughter's been offered a Dubai gig holy [ __ ] we use GPT and help help her do what makes her
63. 12:54happy oh and to help said say say wait oh she should do what makes her happy that's awesome and does the is the Dubai gig

113. 22:15what and so I'm I'm using it and I'm I'm loading in all the triology books all the pub articles and making it
114. 22:24sophisticated enough so that even a a user who wants to ask a basic question to the user who wants the science yeah I
115. 22:32like it so here's here's a I was going to talk about this tonight anyway but I'll give you a little tip so Cindy and
116. 22:38I Cindy [ __ ] and I have been doing a lot of stuff with digital twins one of the things that you can do
117. 22:44as an additional data source to your Bot so you put in all your scientific data all your PDFs record yourself for like 45 minutes
118. 22:54talking about the topics in your voice and then take take the transcript of your recording just talking like you
119. 23:03know extemporaneously and have it use your voice for the tone and those other things for the for the for the SC you
120. 23:10know for the data awesome so it's going to be like me really answering the question backed up by the data brilliant

141. 27:16and I were talking about was there's someone that uh that an's working with that's just like no I'm going to not be
142. 27:24a proponent of ai ai is awful and evil and we will never use it never never she was like what the [ __ ] do I do with
143. 27:34this it's like you know you're going to have that I mean you know the CEO from procreate said we will never have ai tools um see how long he
144. 27:50survives with that as more and more tools get AI enabled um it's going to seem increasingly antiquated to have to learn to
145. 28:00draw I mean listen if you enjoy learning to draw and drawing great but if like me you would love to be able to draw but that particular
146. 28:12Talent never showed up generative AI makes me pretty [ __ ] happy cuz I can see good design I can see good art I just can't make it from
147. 28:26scratch but now I can so anyway if you got those people in your life that are just like you know Sarah Sarah Hey listen um we'd like to have
148. 28:42kind of an intervention here um yeah hey um about this AI stuff yeah no I no I know you're excited I know I no no I
149. 28:53know it's it's clear it's no we understand that no we if you could just go on ahead and you know not talk about it when we're around

151. 29:10friends without AI so if you get those kind of conversations you need to come hang out with us cuz cuz we're like you
152. 29:21we're not those other Naro well shitty friends that are like stop talking about AI it's going to disrupt things we don't want to be
153. 29:33disrupted I'm seeing that a lot I asked them how well folks railed against the internet are doing yeah EXA I mean this
154. 29:42is the thing it's one of the things I was say I was saying to to an today is one of the one of the ways I like to
155. 29:55frame AI in this channel is that I'm personally excited about it I'm personally optimistic about it I am also
156. 30:06acutely aware that there are major [ __ ] issues with it it hallucinates it's been trained on you know data that it shouldn't have been
157. 30:16um copyright and attribution and compensation are woefully inadequate like there there are a bunch of issues with
158. 30:24it whether you [ __ ] love AI or [ __ ] hate AI or are somewhere in the middle like you know most reasonable people you can see both
159. 30:36sides it's not only coming it's here it's here and getting better regularly so this channel is not about
160. 30:48is it good or bad this channel is about okay assuming it's coming what are we going to do about it advance notice to cover your keyboard

167. 31:54talking about this idea of um small groups trying to solve shitty low-level tasks as little groups rather than
168. 32:04putting together AI councils that are going to do our big AI strategy for the year I I feel like while these tools are still
169. 32:14janky lower the bar on expectations about how transformative they're going to be for your business and just get small groups within
170. 32:23organizations using AI on a regular basis and then they may get excited they may discover something they may do
171. 32:32something that propels the business forward but if they don't it's not a disappointment right I was one of those

173. 32:46that when you first came in you were you were a little chip on your shoulder right you were had a little bit of anger

178. 33:42one why that's an important value why why that one is is so important to the salon is as exciting as this AI stuff is it is
179. 33:55actually quite scary right if if you're a copywriter the first time you see chat GPT write something as good or better
180. 34:05than you in in a second um it's kind of existential right if you're an artist and you're like it's stealing everyone's
181. 34:15art and you don't know anything about it you're like ah it's theft and it's terrifying so like the fact that people
182. 34:22are afraid the fact that people are angry is actually to be expected anytime time you've got a new transformative technology in history
183. 34:33anytime people resist it they're afraid of it they're angry about it sometimes historically there have been riots about it um and
184. 34:50so understanding that fear and and welcoming people in who are afraid who might be Ang angry who might
185. 34:58not understand it and still just sitting in yeah I like I get what you're talking about I get why you're afraid I get why you're pissed off
186. 35:09and all that emotion aside this technology isn't going anywhere in fact it's getting better and better and
187. 35:18better and so you have two choices like the choices are quite simple you cross your arms and you sit on the sidelines
188. 35:25and you're like [ __ ] you AI and [ __ ] you people who like it that is a choice and and listen if you get educated about Ai
189. 35:35and try all these tools and then choose to sit on the sidelines and go [ __ ] it I'm sitting this one out I completely respect
190. 35:43that the thing that makes me [ __ ] nuts is people who haven't played with it why is playfulness of value of the salon why why is that
191. 36:00why is that a value because because if if you try to master these
192. 36:15tools right now they're unmasterable cuz they're unpredictable with AI our computers don't behave like our computers have
193. 36:24behaved historically historically the way computers work is they compute you take data source a and data source B and
194. 36:35some algorithms or formulas in the middle and you process them and out comes an output a predictable consistent
195. 36:44output that's how computers work it's they compute it's what they've always done not so with generative AI you take
196. 36:55input a and input B and out squirts a Shakespearean poem about sort of the concepts in there it's like it's
197. 37:08bizarre it's freaky it hallucinates it's creative so yeah so so this channel is about kind of hanging

203. 38:19FBI and Maris brownley is it brownley right is it brownley mares yeah brownley if you don't know Maris
204. 38:35brownley he's the dude he used to like build cyber trucks he does tech reviews and [ __ ] like that he's got like some God awful 19
205. 38:47million subscribers on on YouTube so you've got a consumer Tech guy you've got Christopher Ray the head of the the
206. 38:58FBI FBI or CIA hang on let me make sure I'm not being a total [ __ ]
207. 39:15[ __ ] fbi.gov the eighth director and you've got Bill Gates who found Microsoft and it's got the Gates Foundation and you've got Sam
208. 39:33Alman so the only thing I can think that would make sense so so there's a couple other couple other things that are backdrops to this
209. 39:44conversation maybe AI is really good at certain things but not everything yeah that's that's absolutely where it is
210. 39:50right now and that's I think that's the art of AI in 2024 is figure out where the boundaries are of what AI is good at that's relevant to
211. 40:00you and then the [ __ ] that it's not good at just wait if it's good at [ __ ] great use it if it's bad around the boundaries
212. 40:09figure out what those boundaries are and just work within the place in the middle so so here's the only thing I can
213. 40:20really put together as chat TMZ speculation about the Oprah um event is they're going to talk about a new
214. 40:30model they're going to talk about what's coming now I don't know if they're going to launch it I think it would be kind of
215. 40:36foolish to have a big Oprah thing and not have something available but you know they they've been promising [ __ ]
216. 40:43for 6 months now and not not delivering anything so anything's possible so I think they're going to talk about a new
217. 40:49model I think Bill Gates gives it The credibility and the the perspective of this is a big [ __ ] deal right I you
218. 40:59know I ushered in the PC Revolution and when we decided to embrace the internet we completely transformed you know the
219. 41:08internet and the adoption of it um so I think it makes sense to have him there Christopher Ray that one's
220. 41:16interesting I assume that the message from him is we've checked it things are safe you're going to be okay
221. 41:28um or if we don't get our [ __ ] together other people are from other countries are doing this and they're going to come
222. 41:34[ __ ] us up so we got to get moving so one of those two messages and then Maris brownley I think is going to be like yeah this is
223. 41:43cool like I mean his job is either to give things a thumbs up or a thumbs down in Tech and so so my chat T TMZ specul ation about the
224. 41:57Oprah thing is that it is a very deliberate education to the 47% of people who haven't even heard of chat
225. 42:09GPT to let them know that what's coming is significant and they should pay attention to it um you know because otherwise it
226. 42:18would be it would be a tech reporter right or it would be you know CNET or you know it would be something more
227. 42:29focused from an audience perspective they're going for a broad audience here so so why I assume cuz something new is coming but we'll
228. 42:40see it could just be they're talking about you know Sam alman's breakfast regimen and Bill Gates's workout
229. 42:48routine and Christopher Ray talking about um the AI is stealing from all of us and mares brownley giving the
230. 42:57cybertruck a shitty review it could just be random so and you get HGI and you get AGI and you get AGI exactly I think this is I
231. 43:11think this is essentially you get AGI I mean this could be okay so important backdrop if you don't know
232. 43:24this Microsoft invested Ed 10 billion or 11 billion they invested 1 billion and then they did 10 billion I was never
233. 43:33clear if it was on top of the 1 billion or in you know including the 1 billion but anyway they invested a [ __ ] ton of
234. 43:40money largely in the form of cloud services to open AI for 49% of the company but in their agreement it states that when
235. 43:55AI when open AI achieves AGI or artificial general intelligence the commercial agreement between open Ai and Microsoft is
236. 44:10severed for for that product I they I assume they can still use all the [ __ ] that's not AGI but once open AI hits AGI artificial general
237. 44:20intelligence Microsoft no longer has rights to that like from commercially so it's a it's a it's a big turning
238. 44:29point it's a big inflection point so it is possible that this opah thing is the announcement that open AI has achieved AGI but again also
239. 44:42possible they talk about the fact that Sam likes brown sugar and maple oatmeal better than Apple and cinnamon apple spice and cinnamon
240. 44:58we don't know oh man but if they're not inclined to find out about it after all the hype why watch Oprah who knows I don't know I I

286. 53:21May largely because I don't quite know what to do so here's the challenge this list used to have three
287. 53:32tools on it now it is this NeverEnding list it starts with chat GPT there's then eight different large language
288. 53:41models there are 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 eight image generation models and probably more now there are 1 2 3 four five five
289. 53:52video models there are definitely more of those now there are a [ __ ] ton of audio a right it's just it's it's completely
290. 54:00overwhelming so I need to figure out a way to change this up somehow so it's not overwhelming because the whole point of
291. 54:10this list was if you just want to get started where do you [ __ ] start and so an idea that I had over the weekend
292. 54:20was maybe there's a category of very simple tools like I would put this you know take a picture of you add some
293. 54:31fashion end up with a funny picture of you this to me is a very simple tool that oh God damn it Tik Tock with your stupid [ __ ] puzzle game
294. 54:43really um this is really simple right and it's and it's a really good demonstr it's a very good what we call parlor
295. 54:52trick and so I think what I might do is is is to is to curate maybe five tools that are super simple as here's where to get started

301. 55:44um but I what what's happened is that a lot of the AI tools have gotten so big and so sophisticated and so so
302. 55:57powerful that you can't really just go dick around with them like LTX Studio while it's janky is is going to be a
303. 56:06really powerful tool but it's a really complicated concept to get your head around chat GPT as simple as it is has got like eight
304. 56:17different modules in it that that all do these different things and and to get your head around all of what it can do
305. 56:26is is like like you need a a a university class just to get your head around it and so I think what I'm going
306. 56:34to shift to is if you just want to get started go have fun go go take a picture of yourself and turn yourself into a fashion a fashion
307. 56:47icon um you know go make a song go go you know go do this thing at chat GPT but it's like one specific thing that
308. 56:57you know is really powerful go to ideogram and and type in you know there's a page in a typewriter and it's
309. 57:04got the following text on it and write the actually in fact let's go do that right now let's go to ideogram id.
310. 57:14a and ideogram is really good at text so let's say back to home what's going on here do I need to log in I might notifications my

328. 1:01:14tools all of these tools right now are not quite ready for prime time they're really close and with a lot of human in the
329. 1:01:22loop they're really close right you can you can you you can you know you can absolutely accelerate your work and do
330. 1:01:28amazing stuff but they still require a lot of handholding and because the tools are getting more sophisticated and more
331. 1:01:38complicated it's really hard to say hey go learn this tool or go learn that tool so I think I think where I'm going to
332. 1:01:45where I'm going to shift is to get started here are five parlor tricks that will impress your friends and you know
333. 1:01:52your friends and enemies and and make AI seem less scary um and then maybe I'll have sort of a comprehensive list of
334. 1:01:59here's recommended things if you want to dig deeper I think that's where I'm going to go with it um Let me let me
335. 1:02:05show you another thing that I'm a fan of I'm pissed off that ideogram didn't work I'm going to go to um Deco
336. 1:02:11here this one I've been showing a lot lately but again I think this this starts to be one of those tools where when
337. 1:02:22people one of the one of the misconceptions about AI right now is that you have to be super technical to
338. 1:02:28be able to do it and that was true up until gen gen AI images and chat GPT and now you don't have to be okay
339. 1:02:39so Deco here is a quick image generation tool like quick meaning as you're typing a prompt it's generating images in fact
340. 1:02:48Let Me Go show you how that works so here I am I'm going to type in um let's see a
341. 1:03:04biscuit Factory um spews flour
342. 1:03:19at dawn so as I'm writing the prompt it's generating images and then there there's just a pile of them so it's using a technology called
343. 1:03:30sdxl which is an open- Source model sitting underneath this and it just really really quickly generates images
344. 1:03:37okay so that's that's kind of what it does but if you go to the explore tab at the top and where we are is we're at deoh here. a/
345. 1:03:47exlore and so this is just like uh like any other image site you've seen right where you know these are images people
346. 1:03:56have made and they're squirting down the page you're like okay that's cool I've seen this before but what you probably don't know
347. 1:04:04and couldn't know with if you're not paying attention to this [ __ ] is that every one of these images is being
348. 1:04:13generated while we're watching them these are all original images that have never existed before and any one of
349. 1:04:20these images I can select one I'm going to try to get one that's not some you know hot chicky chick so I'm going to
350. 1:04:29try not to get booted off off uh Tik Tok because I accidentally generated something so I can pick this image I go
351. 1:04:36oh that's a cool image I'm going to create now what's called a station which is a whole Channel That's based on this image and so if I click
352. 1:04:46this create station button it'll do its thing and then oh yeah see it's going to do more hot ch cuz cuz people people have got to just
353. 1:05:01stop it with the with the hot chick prompting come on people here let's do a house please tell me this one is going
354. 1:05:08to generate something other than you know row and rows of of steamy hot chicks there's more steamy hot chicks all right Kyle's gonna get

362. 1:06:26if if you want to generate AI applications learning prompt engineering is probably not a bad idea but if you want to make some cool pictures
363. 1:06:36quick I don't there's no there's no needing to do any of that in fact I'm going to go to a save Channel this is one of my
364. 1:06:46favorites of Steampunk fish that I made and this that's a cool one look at that
365. 1:07:05still put a hot chick in there all of these are orig original we're just kind of swimming in what they call the latent

373. 1:08:34so if I type in the history of Steampunk into this create a new page on perplexity what it's actually about to do is write an original
374. 1:08:50article researched with citations of the articles that it's using like the sources that it's using to write this
375. 1:09:00article Jules Vern's influence on steampunk Victorian era technology inspiration KW Jeter and the term steampunk and so every one of these
376. 1:09:15little um things I can add media to this I can edit this and say you know what
377. 1:09:31this should be a table let's see and so what that's going to do is it's going to rewrite this section to now put a table in
378. 1:09:45here and then I'm going to add some media to this section and then I'm going to add a section um let's see uh steam punk
379. 1:10:02imagery created with AI hit plus and now it's going to go research that and every one of these paragraphs has
380. 1:10:15sources so down here at the bottom it has sources and then it did something here great there's some AI steampunky
