17. 5:36things that a human will possess in the future of work is critical thinking and one of the things that teachers like Mr K do is they engage
18. 5:52with students about [Music] AI in a way that doesn't pretend that AI is more than it
19. 6:07is and it does it in a way that respects students intellects and their Curiosities and the questions they have and he's building in them the
20. 6:20ability to how do we say in America think [Music]
21. 6:35maybe that's the [Music] risk if we let these students
22. 6:49think they might grow up and figure out what ass hats we were and if they can use that critical thinking of theirs they might figure out
23. 7:04how to knock us out of power that is risky isn't [Music] it did I see n Elon musk's neuralink malfunctioned I did not but
24. 7:20yikes we'll go we'll go look that up on the Twitter we'll go look that up on the [Music] Twitter didn't he just post yesterday
25. 7:31that the the first human person hit 100 days successfully so I guess it was day 101 101 that it that it went
26. 7:42South how does one bypass AI detectors love the dog [Music] barking uh you can bypass AI detectors quite simply
27. 7:56[Music] you just pop the you pop your content into another AI system have it rewrite it there's there's tools now that that
28. 8:12do it the the other thing about AI detectors it's not just about bypassing them it's also about the false positive
29. 8:20so so non-english speakers are are often falsely accused of using AI even when they haven't like the amount of false positives is
30. 8:34just ridiculous they're just useless if you want to read read up on why they're useless and how to and how to strategies
31. 8:42for not dealing with them go read Ethan mik uh who's A Wharton business school Professor he writes a lot about the
32. 8:49uselessness of AI detectors [Music]
33. 9:11by telling it to talk like a normal person's speech before they are grown yeah if they start thinking they will realize that public
34. 9:25schools are just trying to flatten the old uh cerebell yep did you watch that interview with Mark cub and I tagged you
35. 9:33in no I didn't I didn't get a chance to see that I there were a couple of things that I missed today I had a backtack day it was it was
36. 9:43a pretty uh it was pretty intense day you know you know working in a day job you know I went to my day job you know
37. 9:53we're you know we got the uh we got that their platform to talk about the U make authentic video and uh boy you know people are
38. 10:04wanting to talk about that authentic video they're like yeah we want some of that and then we're like we got AI in it
39. 10:11too and they're like whoa whoa who hey there Skippy we're not even allowed to use AI in our elementary school what are
40. 10:17you doing putting that in a professional video platform and we're like oh there hang on you you want to see it write a blog
41. 10:25post and they're like oh yeah that that'd be cool and and then I show it to him them they're like B jingus that
42. 10:32that's pretty slick we should get us some of that day job what's that yeah exactly I am officially unhirable at this [Music]
43. 10:52point cam kaken I got to goahead I got the goahead to teach AI Essentials to my colleagues and possibly the broader
44. 11:02College yes that's what I'm talking about I'm super excited and typing from VR by the way very [Music]
45. 11:23cool I kind of feel like [Music] we need to have some sort of teach in where every school
46. 11:37administrator School Board member needs to be locked in a gymnasium for8 [Music]
47. 11:58hours and not just locked in there not not like corporal punishment or anything no no but they should be forced to show up on a
48. 12:10Saturday at a big gymnasium and bring in teachers and parents and students who are AI
49. 12:24[Music] literate and every person gets half an hour to teach the school administrators and school board members one
50. 12:37thing 15 minutes you got 15 minutes to show them one thing you do with AI that makes a difference for [Music]
51. 12:54you a teaching yes that's a good idea maybe not the school gym though yuck students need to learn AI to know how to use it
52. 13:05responsibly but how can this happen if the teachers and professors don't know how to do this I was invited to speak at a du University of
53. 13:18Denver School of policy and politics or politics and policy I don't know I'm not I'm not very bookly and I was invited to come speak to the
54. 13:33school and to The Graduate students about Ai and I'm like that's awesome that they're doing that and then I got there I'm like this is so
55. 13:43cool you know what do you guys doing with AI here at the College of policy oh we haven't really done anything with
56. 13:58it we don't really talk about it that much really in the state that just passed one of the country's first AI
57. 14:12bills that essentially punishes Developers for developing with AI all right cool awesome and then I gave my
58. 14:27talk or I talk in an impassioned way about uh why AI was here to stay why it wasn't going
59. 14:42away and how it changed my life and the remarkable things that you could do with it and at the end of it they were like that's really H I'm
60. 14:55thinking we might need to be looking into this [Music]
61. 15:21anyway so if you don't know Mr K central Pennsylvania teach I think middle school he was one of the good guys well he still
62. 15:37[Music] is I was teaching his kids about AI how it works and how to think about it what's good about it what's bad about it how to deal with
63. 15:51it and the administrators caught wind of it not only can't he teach it he can't even [ __ ] talk about it it's
64. 16:09like anyway I think people see what like can be like in the future and they don't know how to get there yeah yeah I mean it's it's
65. 16:23like I don't know I I suppose there's I suppose the administrators take comfort in you know maybe someone a few years down the
66. 16:33line's going to have to deal with this but I don't have to deal with it right now it's not really here
67. 16:39yet they don't understand how fast it's coming and how fast things are changing and how what we teach
68. 16:47students from elementary school through college is about to radically alter
69. 17:02radically alter there's a good chance this is blons but it's not it's coffee um see here's the
70. 17:18deal and I know it shouldn't be starting out with a lecture but we are talking about education so welcome to ai11
71. 17:30welcome to AI pontificating 101 we have technologies that right now are quite
72. 17:47impressive and they can kind of sort of do [ __ ] for you like if you don't know how to program they can code for you can you
73. 17:57share a joke with us Kyle you can make money there you go can I share a joke no
74. 18:14jokes this is serious so so sometime in this year probably 2 months from now we're going to have a new version of
75. 18:27whatever the hell open a eyes cooking up and these tools are going to go from capable but flawed to remarkable and
76. 18:44flawed it blows my mind on so many levels kind of the equivalent of burning books can we add some music to an MP4
77. 18:53video uh well yeah but I'd have to use like I don't know iMovie or Premiere or something like that it's too complicated probably
78. 19:07not pain in the ass when we start getting into real work it gets it gets less fun for everyone watching and less fun for me but
79. 19:19anyway right now in the world there's a premium put on Specialties on special skills specialist skills
80. 19:34and those skills are about to be democratized like what do you mean well right now you pretty much need to
81. 19:45be a coder to be able to code with with AI because it's just it's not quite there yet but when these tools get reasoning
82. 19:54and when they get autonomous agentic Behavior there's a fancy word you could learn in college if they ever taught this [ __ ] there
83. 20:06um you're going to have tools that are going to allow you to be a language translator or a copywriter or a consultant or a coder or whatever
84. 20:19it's going to democratize the skills and so the premium that we place on teaching individual skills the the value of that is going to
85. 20:30decrease over time and I think it's going to decrease pretty pretty rapidly and what's going to increase is human beings I just wrote an
86. 20:42article on this called rise of the agile human human beings that have intellectual agility and curiosity and can think horizontally across
87. 20:56disciplines and act more like a Symphony conductor than a virtuoso violinist and so if we just ignore what's coming like if we if if
88. 21:11administrators don't actually look critically at what is on our doorstep the level of disservice that that they are
89. 21:24burdening the the the current class of students at allel with is is staggering it's mindblowing it's it is
90. 21:38irresponsible but they can sit back and go well AI is evil and it steals and it's non ethical and it's
91. 21:44biased it allows students to cheat we're not going to allow students to cheat we've got detectors for
92. 21:53that you might ask yourself why do they all talk like that I don't know
93. 22:08even the men talk like that it's amazing dang you went to buffer it horizontally thinking oh um that that that that the skill that's
94. 22:25going to increase in value is horizontal thinking so the ability to think think across disciplines the ability to think
95. 22:31um critically the ability to think strategically the ability to have judgment and taste the ability to look at the outputs
96. 22:43from multiple disciplines of these AI tools and go ooh that's good that's bad here's how I'd make that better if if you're if you're only
97. 22:53trained to run down these rabbit holes and you're trained that being a specialist is where it's at you're going to be competing in a
98. 23:04world where that specialization is increasingly commoditized and devalued and so you're going to be sold a bill of goods and I and I think
99. 23:16especially in in you know lower education um the foundations for all that critical thinking stuff that happens now and so you have a teacher
100. 23:26like like Mr K that's like okay hey there's new tools here let's let's look at these things critically let's
101. 23:32understand what they can do let's understand what they can't do I guarantee you that his class his students actually Mr K I don't know if
102. 23:45you're watching you know what here's an idea you should get your I think you teach seventh or eighth grade right you
103. 23:58should get your seventh and eighth graders to put on like a 4our Saturday seminar where they teach the school board and the
104. 24:11administrators and and have them invite them publicly so they can't say [ __ ] no do a little reverse education
105. 24:22here and have the students teach them not only what the tools are and how to use them but how it's changed their
106. 24:29life and how they think about things now cuz I guarantee you those kids can run circles around those administrators not
107. 24:41technically critically thinking have you f found an AI to get my nanotech Iron Man suit done well holy

109. 25:07Bonkers Alpha fold 3 predicts the structure and interactions of all of life's molecules including DNA and RNA and whatever the [ __ ] ligans

117. 26:47demot a protein you know it's funny Tom I was thinking the other day about ligans I think about legans all the time
118. 26:54that I'm I'm like you know all these proteins out there all all they want to be is promoted they just want they just want to become a
119. 27:04manager and no one's there no one's there to help them out they're just there like on the on the fry line you

128. 28:43a class full of seventh graders teaching a bunch of Schoolboard members and administrators what AI is and how it's changed their life
129. 28:53or you get an auditorium with a bunch of seventh graders on stage and no one in the [ __ ] audience and that's even better from a press

131. 29:19fine so what's two weeks from now two weeks from now is the 23rd is that right 19th yeah 23 third so it's not quite it's not quite
132. 29:31summer so it's not going to be GPT 5 maybe that'll be the search engine interesting it's interesting interesting it's very
133. 29:41fascinating speaking of school education I'm hyped to see what these kids come up with for the science fair right actually
134. 29:48you know what be cool is you know get some seventh graders to to you figure out enough about how to use Alpha fold
135. 29:56to come up with some some new cure for some disease that they do over their summer [Laughter] vacation um the the uh the St statistic
136. 30:11that I heard so I think there's 2 point Joker would probably know this I think there's 2.2 or 2.3 million
137. 30:20proteins and proteins are very very complex molecules and how they fold you know how they fold and interact is how
138. 30:27you designs drugs for them and on average it takes one PhD student student their entire PhD tenure to discover one
139. 30:42protein and so alphafold in one year did all of them they saved it was something like a billion years in research time was done in one year
140. 30:58and now Alpha fall 3 I guess I I think I think this is significantly more accurate and it does way more [ __ ] including DNA and
141. 31:06RNA like the speed with which drugs are going to be discovered now is is going to be insane like this is all geeky and weird right

159. 34:21that there's going to be on every device incredibly powerful um AI that that just runs locally why can't we have nice

185. 38:33generate responses to user queries Additionally the training data was used solely for I find that might
186. 38:41convenient to say not stealing tell me how you're uh uh what's your agenda with uh with with regards to to to children and indoctrinating
