69. 14:24art but the minute uneducated people hear that it was AI that discount [Music] it I noticed someone took my Tik Tock
70. 14:37video and posted it over to Reddit the Tik Tock video I did on the the hipop song that I did the Holy Crap video the one that got
71. 14:48all the views they posted it to Reddit and I was looking at the comments and Reddit and there was not nearly as much
72. 14:53hate in Reddit uh as I thought deco here threads the needle of what of uh of just push a button and art comes
73. 15:05out yeah but what I would argue with Deco here is Deco here makes so much work that what you curate and and choose to refine that the
74. 15:17creative act with Deco here is letting its massive creation inspire you which is kind of an interesting one [Music]

77. 15:59so we were talking about making avatars this week and let me flip yeah let me flip this like this and then why aren't more young people in
78. 16:12your lives well I think young people tend to like watching other young people and I'm a fat old guy um I think it's the you know as much as
79. 16:30I like to think that you know I've got supermodel good looks you know like the genetic genetics Lottery home run right
80. 16:41apparently that's not the case with actual good-look people and actual young people they see different they see me differently than maybe I
81. 16:52do um I also think that there is a I think that there is sort of an elder Millennial Gen X Lorie Blair of all the Black Friday
82. 17:08stuff going on today the only thing I bought was an extra hard drive for my AI Creations that is an approved Friday purchase I love
83. 17:17it um I think that there's actually a fascinating divide happening where older millennials gen xers and younger Boomers
84. 17:31there's this sort of window of right around where I am that are leaning into Ai and I my my theory like I don't have
85. 17:41any data on it just my guess is that people that are between kind of late 40s to early 60s were there at the at the beginning
86. 17:54of the worldwide web right and and also we kids when PC came onto the scene right so we've seen a couple of
87. 18:02technological revolutions change the world already so I think that there's and a lot of the Gen xers that I talked
88. 18:11to that were around for um the worldwide web but didn't take advantage of it like didn't aggressively get into it are like
89. 18:21[ __ ] it I'm not going to miss AI um so I think that's going on and then I just think a lot of younger
90. 18:27people are just not into it I don't know why I like I don't know I honestly don't know I would love to have more young
91. 18:34people in here um but uh but they just ain't they just ain't my friends all hate it and they were all 30 and Below interesting yeah yeah
92. 18:47exactly and it's like like the the whole purpose of this channel is I frankly don't give a [ __ ] if someone hates
93. 18:57AI after after having used it after having tried it but what my experience is is people that are pissed off about
94. 19:07it and really afraid of it aren't using it or haven't used it at all they just they're they're just on the sidelines
95. 19:14you know they they heard that it's theft and they heard that it's bad and they heard that it's evil and they heard that
96. 19:20it's going to be run by a handful of companies and they heard that the robots are going to kill us and they're like [ __ ]
97. 19:26it you guys are [ __ ] for using it and you know I just I think that's incredibly shortsighted I think it's
98. 19:36stupid I do it's like it's like this [ __ ] isn't going away it's like [ __ ] learn what it is and then and then after you use it after
99. 19:47you understand what it makes possible and what it actually is and how it actually works like take the time to learn how it actually
100. 19:54works it is not plagiarism period perod you can get it to act like a plagiarizer which is what all the people
101. 20:04do that want to prove that it's evil but it's just not how it works I think a lot of people think that they have to hang up their dreams of
102. 20:14getting rich with creativity and not accepting that using AI is creative I yeah I think that's right he says

115. 22:30Tik Tock is like the cool cousin all right so so I thought it would be really fun to make an avatar of
116. 22:46like a cute animated animal so I did some Mir cats I did some turtles I did a koala bear and guess what I learned
117. 23:00none of the Avatar tools hey Jen um Runway and I did one other one oh I did like an Open Source
118. 23:18One none of them would recognize these faces as faces like like this one which one did I use I think I Ed used this
119. 23:30one I mean there's a mouth there's a nose there's two eyes there's ears how can it not recognize that as a face so
120. 23:38anyway so I couldn't so I did all this work I went to 11 labs and I I made voices that are actually really
121. 23:46cute I made cute little animals and then I just it was an abject failure because I couldn't actually animate them so I
122. 23:53don't know if anyone knows of any animation tools that recognize cartoon faces but none of those did you don't get enough post likes for
123. 24:04posting AI young people just want likes oh well yeah x x is doing this weird thing now where they're just posting they're they're they're
124. 24:20rewarding if you get engagement from Blue check marks which basically means they're paying X they're rewarding that behavior um so
125. 24:33it's going to it's going to totally pervert like X is about to get even worse I think I think people are going to make
126. 24:42money on it but it's going to get weird anyway um somebody wanted me to use to to go through mid Journey so here's the

135. 26:01people in it very generous very smart um very well educated on generative Ai and um you know go there and do that and then this coming
136. 26:15Tuesday from 5:00 P pm to 700 PM mountain time is our second year anniversary so we have we have two meetings a month we've been going for
137. 26:24two years and this coming Tuesday December 3rd is our two-year anniversary so come hang out there all right so
138. 26:34that's a place where you can get AI engagement because you know people know what's going on they they they got it going
139. 26:45on I just subscribed and I've watched you before but now I'm just lost I'm using the website you're just lost where in the in the salon

141. 27:13um how to use mid Journey okay so this is mid Journey trying to even think where to
142. 27:27start if you go go to explore you can this is other people's work I think you can click on any of these yeah you can
143. 27:34get the you can get the The Prompt that they used um Mid Journey tends to be really good at um just you know very realistic stuff so
144. 27:48I can grab this prompt and I can just pop it in and hit return and then it it'll make something based on that now it'll be different
145. 27:59because I've got something called personalization turned on but you can just put any prompt in and it'll make
146. 28:05something right and I think I've got this set up yeah I've got it set up to do portrait image size so that's why
147. 28:12it's the same aspect ratio but if I change this to landscape like that and I just click on this prompt
148. 28:23it'll it'll repopulate that thing I can just hit return again and now it'll make landscape for versions of these
149. 28:39chandeliers so those are kind of cool and then you can also do weird things like just increase stylization
150. 28:49like let me just pop that up to like 750 and just put the same thing in there and hit return and me go in here and
151. 28:59I'll take stylization down but I'll put weirdness up to some high high number and I'll just do that and now I'll do stylization and
152. 29:13weirdness high and variety high this should give us different four different things so without even really like one
153. 29:26of the ways that I love to that I love to play with generative AI tools is just don't think about it grab someone else's
154. 29:35prompt they're there right if if if someone wants you to not see their prompt they can pay mid Journey extra money to hide their
155. 29:44[ __ ] so everything's out there and then in general people can use yours and quite frankly like with very few exceptions no one's
156. 29:54writing prompts that are worth you know holding tight to the vest put them out there because like look how different
157. 30:02you know just changing a few settings how different they are from the starting image that I started with let me see where it is
158. 30:17here you know I started with that I mean that's someone else's image and then mine are completely different right like
159. 30:25these have people in them like that's pretty fascinating that looks nothing like that other thing is that cheating
160. 30:34maybe so that's a way to use it another way to use it is if you go to x hang on my dog wants cheese if you go to x and you search
161. 30:50for Sr what is an srf so sref is a style reference so if you search for style reference see where it's got this number
162. 31:04right here that's a style reference number so if you just go to Twitter and type in style references you can go ahead and copy this
163. 31:19number and then I can go back to Mid journey I can pop in that quote one thing I've noticed with style refs is if
164. 31:27you have stylization and weirdness High um it tends to ignore the style reference so I always turn those off to
165. 31:35test the style reference so then you go dash dash sref that number and now I'm going to make that and
166. 31:44uh oh I didn't put sref in there hang on dash d s sref style reference that number let me go let the dog out
167. 31:58you want to go out is that what's going on is everybody having fun
168. 32:15you so look at that that's super flipping cool and then we can go back over to X and just grab another one let's see [Music]

170. 32:48is generating the [ __ ] is not the art the art is choosing like like of all these different looks down here so maybe I
171. 32:59want some chandelier I want to do some high futin chandelier artwork and I started you know I was inspired by this from someone
172. 33:11else and then I came over here and I did things that were kind of like that and then I did things that were kind of
173. 33:18different I look at this and I'm like huh maybe I want to do a Space Opera about planets and maybe this image
174. 33:27drives me into a completely different creative direction right and I think I think that one of the one of the things that makes AI
175. 33:42creative work brilliant is that you can skim like like a stone skipping across the water you can skim from idea to idea to idea and
176. 33:53have them really fully executed can you do it again step by step sure absolutely let's go look at what we what
177. 34:09we got from the new so this so This looking feel came from this style ref right so someone had this this you know this horror slasher
178. 34:22film aesthetic with these two style refs and then I took the you know this same exact prompt same exact prompt put
179. 34:32in those two style reps and now we've got this kind of sci-fi looking like this is just crazy this is like surreal it's planetary it's
180. 34:44architectural but it's not but it's Fantastical okay so let me let me start from the beginning so where we are is we're in
181. 34:55mid journey and so mid journey.com you do have to be a paid subscriber to use mid journey in my opinion it's worth
182. 35:05it 10 bucks a month is the minimum it is just higher quality than most um than most image generation tools hang on I just lost
183. 35:16my my light and I can't I can't be without light because you know I got to look pretty people I got to look pretty I just came from Wicked
184. 35:29right you know I got to be popular you got to be popular okay so we're in mid Journey I'm on the
185. 35:46create Tab and in the create tab you can just put in anything right you can literally put in let's do popular you can just put in the word
186. 35:58popular and see what mid Journey thinks of it you know there's there's there's all sorts of things that you can do with
187. 36:05mid Journey where you learn all of the different options all of the different functions that can be interesting if
188. 36:12you're geeky and really like flipping switches and dials and and being able to control as much as you can control you
189. 36:20can do that but you don't have to you can just go in there and pop in popular and just let's see what it comes up with
190. 36:32some crazy ass surreal [ __ ] so that's kind of fun now I'm going to try something here I'm going to go to
191. 36:41my personalized Tab and I'm going to turn personalization off and I'll show you what personalization is in a second
192. 36:48but I'm going to come back up here to create and I'm going to pop in the same exact term popular we're going to pop that in there
193. 36:57without personalization turned on and see see how different it is you look Wicked pretty Kyle he's wicked
194. 37:12pretty very very different so here are images that are more in my aesthetic according to Mid Journey so these four this one two three

197. 37:47start teaching what it does is it gives you two images and then on your numeric keypad you can do one two and three if
198. 37:56if you do one your voting for the image on the left if you do two you're voting for the image on the right and if you do
199. 38:02three you're just skipping this pair I'm going to skip these because I don't really like either of those don't like
200. 38:07either of those don't like either of those don't like either of those um I will go with one the one on the left
201. 38:14here I'll go with nothing here I'll go with the one on the left here I'll go with the second one two um let's go with two let's go with
202. 38:28one let's go with two let's go with one let's so in choosing these I'm training mid journey to like what I like and then
203. 38:40every like it says I've done 571 of these at a thousand I unlock level three which I think gives you extra credits
204. 38:48but anyway you can turn this on and if it's on or or when you do a prompt you can do d-p and that stands
205. 38:56for personalization that's your your own personal personal style and so now it'll do things that are more more in your
206. 39:02style so that's fun okay so but what I showed before was if you go to the explore tab this is a bunch of images that other
207. 39:11people have done so if I just reload this whole thing like let's say I like that one cool you can just come over here and
208. 39:19copy this prompt oh in fact I just clicked on it and it added it into my into my little prompt area here
209. 39:27and then I can go you know change the aspect ratio from vertical to to landscape um you can choose different
210. 39:37models if you want to I tend to just leave it on you know 6.1 whatever the latest one is you can change stylization and
211. 39:45weirdness but anyway I can now just take that prompt from that other person's image and just hit return because I have
212. 39:53personalization turned on it's likely going to be very different than theirs what's this who this hey Jason what's

223. 42:09mircat then then start figuring out how to prompt to get the exact mircat you want but if you're in ideation mode [ __ ]
224. 42:16it just go just go figure it out I'm gonna stop this I don't like the way it wrote I'm going to say um write these as a single
225. 42:32paragraph prompt with no distinct labels for the elements just write
226. 42:48it as a description and so now a violinist stands in the heart of all right that's super long
227. 43:03wait but give me each prompt as its own paragraph not all of them
228. 43:19together okay so violinist stands in the heart of a dense bamboo forest in Kyoto their music echoing through golden hour
229. 43:27light casts Long Shadows um these are missing Artistic
230. 43:50Styles all right did it do it fine whatever violin is standing in dense bamboo forest great let's go make
231. 43:59that so like have chat jpt write a bunch of prompts and then you'll be amazed what we can do with this so I'm just GNA
232. 44:08give us one and let's see if we like this we'll see if we get something we like here and then if if you click on um The
233. 44:18Prompt it'll populate your your thing there and I can just go up and go I'm gonna I'm gonna jack up the weirdness
234. 44:26and just see what it looks like it with weirdness jacked up and you'll see you know weird here is a little one of these little
235. 44:39labels but these are pretty cool looking like that one I love the composition of that one now we're getting into the weirdness
236. 44:54nice yeah like these are weird they're they're good weird right they're good and dramatic so so I can do that then I can
237. 45:04do things like this I could say okay give me that prompt but I'm going to go into I've uploaded a bunch of images so
238. 45:10these are all images I've uploaded or created and I can pick any one of these like I can pick like this one's got some
239. 45:17crazy ass colors in it and there's three little icons here there's um a picture reference where it's going to use kind
240. 45:25of the structure and the content of this to inspire the next image there's a style reference an srf where it's going
241. 45:33to take the look and feel of this and do a bamboo forest with this looking feel and then there's a character reference
242. 45:39if you want to do a person so let's take that one as an input and then let's find another one here that's got a really distinct style
243. 45:49um well this is Japanese so let's grab this Japanese wave and we'll make that a style as well so we've got you know this
244. 45:58really specific illustration this really specific color scheme and this really specific prompt boom let's see what that
245. 46:05does for us and do I have that weirdness turned on no I turned weirdness off so let's see what that does and then while that's thinking we
246. 46:15go over here to X and and we searched for srf for style reference and we can just go like that one's pretty cool pretty cool and clean
247. 46:26but let's go find something that would look good with a bamboo forest that black and White's kind of interesting and again like other people

413. 1:18:10going to launch when they're going to launch it here here's where I am with AI so the first year after chat GPT came
414. 1:18:19out everything was new and exciting every upgrade they did was new exciting every other company that created a large
415. 1:18:28language model was new and exciting you know every image generation tool upgrade was new and exciting everything was new
416. 1:18:35and exciting and there were so few of them relatively speaking that you could kind of keep track of who were the major
417. 1:18:42players year two this past year open AI effectively stopped shipping products they announced a bunch of [ __ ] that they
418. 1:18:51just never shipped right we got we got this time last year we got custom gpts um and then you know over the
419. 1:19:03course of the last year we went from gp4 to gp4 Omni um which Omni had the the way they demoed it it had all these
420. 1:19:13multimodal capabilities that they never really delivered um and we never really understood what the difference was like
421. 1:19:23they there when they first showed it it had like this image gen generation model that was completely different they they
422. 1:19:30they announced Sora the video thing that never launched um they've put out 01 preview which is sort of this weird ass
423. 1:19:39preview that's not really real and maybe we get the real 01 tomorrow maybe we don't whatever that said if open AI stop sh Shing today
424. 1:19:56never shipped another thing there is more [ __ ] power in chat GPT in Claude in perplexity in Gemini like all the flavors of
425. 1:20:09Gemini in meta in in the open- source World in all of the image image generation tools in all the video
426. 1:20:16generation tools in the music generation tools in the sound synthesis tools like 11 labs in the Avatar making tools like
427. 1:20:24hey Jen every single tool out there is crossing a threshold the past two years these tools have just been
428. 1:20:35janky pieces of [ __ ] right janky pieces of [ __ ] and now we live in a
429. 1:20:51world where without really even typing a prompt having chat GPT type a prompt within whatever it was 15
430. 1:21:01iterations and clicks and little edits you know like knowing how to use mid Journey just a little bit like I'm not
431. 1:21:09good at Mid Journey I'm good at like little pieces of mid Journey we got to this every tool out there has got you
432. 1:21:17know some equivalent of this there's the the language equivalent of this there's the um there's the the the music equivalent of
433. 1:21:27this there's the programming equivalent of this there's the animation equivalent of this so and and then on top of
434. 1:21:44that half of half of our country and probably more than half of the world don't even know this [ __ ] exists I find that
435. 1:21:56mindboggling I find it mindboggling that there's an active resistance to this and yet every time in in the history of humanity that there's
436. 1:22:07been a major technological innovation it is feared and resisted and um attempted to be

463. 1:27:07playing if you're exploring AI if you're making robot images and sharing them on X the amount of opportunity you're going
464. 1:27:18to have is going to be insane and for all those people like oceans that's just like I don't want to hear about AI anymore at some point
