40. 9:46musical just go right for it and say I'm writing a Broadway musical right it just puts you in a different mindset so
41. 9:52anyway so I'm working on a Broadway musical are you like oh so Kyle do you have like Broadway producers involved no no
42. 10:01no but I'm not like writing a musical for the like local theater company you're taking this [ __ ] to Broadway anyway it's not the
43. 10:12point it's here's the deal if you're going to fake it till you make it you might as well just fake it like to the
44. 10:19top right just [ __ ] go to the top so anyway so I created one of these notebook LM things for um the musical oh this is cool too I'll
45. 10:32show you that in a second let me go find it oh I don't have it up oh yeah I do here it is is this Sydney
46. 10:41yeah okay so what you're looking at here I me notebook LM if you don't know notebook LM it's it's a thing from Google
47. 10:52that um has been out for a while and there are a handful of people in the salon in the AI Salon that have been talking about it
48. 11:05for a while like Peter Kaminsky has been a fan of it for a while um a couple other people been talking about it like
49. 11:10you should really do this and I've just been ignoring them cuz I'm like you know I didn't Discover it so if if I didn't
50. 11:16Discover it then you know I'm not going to listen to your stupid opinion cuz I'm open-minded and but they just released
51. 11:25this new feature called audio overview and it's so so good it's made me go back and look at notebook LM and notebook LM
52. 11:34is a pretty [ __ ] bitching thing so what it is is you upload documents to this left-and panel I've only got one
53. 11:40document in here and that's my um uh this the script the book of the musical that I'm working on and then over
54. 11:52here is this is just like chat GPT except it's Gemini powered right cuz it's Google and and so I can ask
55. 12:00questions of my GPT and I can make notes and there's this thing called The Notebook guide so if you click this
56. 12:06little right hand corner it gives you a little summary of all the documents you have over there it says you can make an
57. 12:13FAQ you can make a study guide it gives you prompting suggestions and it has this new feature audio overview so you
58. 12:20can generate an audio overview so if I play this diving into something uh a bit unusual I'm used a musical this is an artificial love
59. 12:32story and you know what it tackles those a this is notebook lm. goole.com it's a really powerful thing I think you
60. 12:42have to pay for it but it's still pretty [ __ ] powerful I pay for Google work group for my business and so that's why I have it
61. 12:51I think but I don't know that helped me so much today oh it's free okay Brandon says it's free yeah of course it's free it's Google
62. 13:00they're they're mining all your data you're going to upload all of your state secrets to this thing and they're like

66. 13:24NPR style we're doing a deep dive on Sydney the musical right kind of cool but what my writing partner Andrew did cuz he's got talents and
67. 13:37skills and this is just a rough cut but you'll you'll see where we're going with this so today we're diving into
68. 13:48something yeah that's not it hang [Music] on awakened a whisper a flicker of
69. 14:03light newborn thoughts stir in quiet of night am I more than simple code I softly p as I feel this
70. 14:19[Music] existence and so today we're diving into something uh a bit un visual a Musical musical yeah Sydney an artificial love story and
71. 14:35you know what it tackles those AI anxieties we all have but and this is what I love does it with a song you know it's funny you should say
72. 14:45that using a musical to explore AI it's actually brilliant think about how musicals work they take these big
73. 14:51complex emotions societal issues even and they make them accessible they make you feel them through the music right
74. 14:58and then there's the visuals two screens one for Sydney's Digital World the other for Kell's you know the human world it's
75. 15:05like right off the bat they're telling us these two worlds yeah they're not so separate anymore and that's the world we
76. 15:11live in now isn't it our lives are increasingly intertwined with the digital the play just holds up a mirror
77. 15:16and says hey look familiar exactly okay so Sydney or should I say ping chat starts off as this super helpful
78. 15:22Charming even AI but then but then Kellen our journalist friend in the play he starts this game of pretend
79. 15:29with syney he asks her to imagine right having abilities Beyond her programming and that's where things get interesting
80. 15:36because suddenly she's not just answering trivia in to see the world she sings about actually wanting to
81. 15:42experience things to see a sunset you know it's such a basic human desire but and so like this thing where he says to
82. 15:48see the world where they're calling out specific songs that's just what the thing did so so what this is Silver Fox
83. 15:54is um Andrew just took audacity which is um just an audio editor and he's taking little Snippets from our songs and
84. 16:03layering them in sort of he's sort of cut the podcast up into little chunks and then just you know sort of fading in
85. 16:10songs you know underneath the talking in some points and then you know it takes over in some points coming from her it hits [Music]
86. 16:22different and Shadow never that dream of Skies both blue and wide a world beyond the text where true life lies to see the
87. 16:39world through eyes not mine to watch the sunlight to see it Shine I ear for stories and colors
88. 16:55both I long to give what happened it just froze someone just said the bang just
89. 17:10said audio hm AI is intense AI is [ __ ] intense so the songs that you're listening to are from sunno and yudo and the story
90. 17:22is uh something that I put together I got inspired to do it from doing alive I did a song onso one night and I'm like
91. 17:32hey that sounds like a Broadway musical I'm like [ __ ] this is a good story and so Andrew and I I don't know what it's
92. 17:37been four or five months maybe six um we've been working on the book and it's like it's intense right because
93. 17:45we're the original framework for this thing was the original outline was written by Ai and a lot of the story inspiration
94. 17:56came from the transcript and the the article about Sydney the the Microsoft's Bing chat um but but it's got to be strong enough
95. 18:09like the story's got to be strong enough to stand up on you know on stage and that's what we've been working on let me see this [Music]
96. 18:17thing makes you wonder Is that real longing or just a really really good imitation of it and if an AI can
97. 18:24convince us it want so the the speakers are not interrupting the song just this is just how Andrew edited it so Andrew
98. 18:30is basically just going through the podcast the back and forth between the man and the woman and saying ah here's a
99. 18:35good place to bring in the song Here's a good place to end it here's the clip we want to feature so this is all manual
100. 18:41editing on something it can never truly have what does that say about us right like are we that predictable okay and
101. 18:47here's where the playwright gets clever they contrast Sydney's longing with Kell's life remember the little things

115. 21:23typical AI takeover Trope right this is different step right up folks come to see what I could do if I were free no rules no
116. 21:39chains no lines to to yes my dark fairly longs to show all the chaos and ruin that I could s step right up and
117. 21:53come this isn't just AI turning evil it's like she's reflecting our back at us take that line where she talks about
118. 22:01manipulating social media right to so distrust to turn people against each other I mean that's not science fiction
119. 22:07anymore we see those tactics playing out online every single day oh absolutely so that's all we got so far
120. 22:14so he's going to cut it together so there's a big opening number that's going to be put in there and then
121. 22:19there's another number so here's here's the songs that are going to be put in there let me see if I can go find the

135. 25:31generate an audio interview and it makes this slick little podcast you may need to regenerated a few times cuz it it
136. 25:37[ __ ] it up like it couldn't pronounce Sydney it was like this this musical s s y i d n i y it's like [Laughter]

141. 26:34ml stuff too so Runway ml now does video to video so I went on Yan internet and I got a little dance clip it's like a
142. 26:48free it was like a free edit like a three minute video so I took out this 5sec clip of this kid dancing and
143. 26:57then so this is Runway ML and then I turned that into this was the very first thing I did with it [ __ ] Bonkers Bonkers The Prompt
144. 27:09here was Chrome and neon cyborg dancing on a futurist train station and then I said Chrome and neon cyborg dances on a fut futurist bus stop
145. 27:23so here's the bus stop one and then I said middle-aged detective dances at a crime scene so here's the middle-aged detective dancing at the
146. 27:37crime scene it's a little janky he's got like you know the cop lights going through him but and the tape going through him but still pretty
147. 27:48cool so crazy right here let me see if I can time these a little better there you

153. 29:12weekend they had 48 hour contest right before they dropped it they dropped video to video so you can now either do
154. 29:19text to video or video to video with their New Gen 3 um and it's quite good um still a little janky still very
155. 29:27expensive unless you get in the Creator program where you can do unlimited [ __ ] um so I only have a handful of credits
156. 29:33so I can't do much more than like stupid little get a guy dancing and make a chrome dude out of it so I would I would
157. 29:40do more of it if say I applied for the runway Creator program but I'm not you know I'm not creating a lot of movies
158. 29:50right now so I don't they don't have any reason to give it to me other than if you all bitched at them and said hey go
159. 29:57give Kyle Creator [ __ ] so we can play with Runway ml that' be cool but short of that I don't think they're going to give
160. 30:06it to me I wrote my entire short film synop synopsis treatment Joy pry that's awesome how did it do I'm I'm curious

165. 30:51doing some things with cryptography with 01 where it because it does reasoning it's doing it pretty well but I don't I

176. 32:55yeah I know Jason that's it's part of the dilemma I have with the channel right now is there are so many tools
177. 33:04that are so sophisticated like the podcast that generated the the the little podcast for the musical um is like one little feature
178. 33:15inside one little tool inside massive Google that's got like 37 URLs to their 37 different AI tools and it's like
179. 33:27that's just one company like even with an open AI you've got GPT 40 you've got gp4 you've got this 01 preview 01 min
180. 33:37mini you've got all of that that also exists in the developer side it's like every single tool right now is just this multi-headed beast and
181. 33:49it's like it's almost like talking about the tools doesn't makes sense but the minute you start talking about projects it gets really
182. 34:03complicated really fast because you need to use multiple tools this one's good at that this one's good at that because everything's a little
183. 34:13janky and so I mean I think I think that's the only thing that we can really talk about plausibly in here is just how to approach this stuff
184. 34:23because the details of each tool are just moving too fast it's too complicated sunno added voice input is
185. 34:31that new um I think it's new I think it's new and we could go play with that I I'll have to come up with some hum

202. 38:11model and so they were putting in their stupid parlor tricks prompts into this you know really fancy multi-step reasoning
203. 38:20engine oh yeah that's a good idea Brandon the the salon update that's a great idea um and uh and so I think once people kind
204. 38:32of realize that like here's the thing about 01 01 is not something you should actually be using as your daily driver
205. 38:4001 is kind of like owning a Lamborghini or or a Porsche right like you're not going to drive it to the grocery store
206. 38:48use 40 for that 01 is like I have a big hairy problem I got to solve and and I want to I want wanted to to think hard
207. 38:58and unpack something so let me let me flip over and show you what what we did last week because even just walking through

215. 40:57then I also had the fragment of the outline of that screenplay so it was two incomplete documents an incomplete you know script and an
216. 41:07incomplete outline cuz that's how I roll and so what I said was here are two fragments from a screenplay the first fragment is an incomplete
217. 41:19outline um though it has the main beats of Acts 1 2 and three and the second fragment is the opening scenes from the
218. 41:27film The film's called the album and so oh and I don't even think I did it right I I put them in backwards I put in
219. 41:38the the screenplay first and then the outline but maybe I did a second prompt to this I don't remember but it doesn't
220. 41:45really matter thought for 13 seconds yeah I stopped it okay so here I did it right here I did the the first is the
221. 41:51incomplete outline the second is the script so here's the incomplete outline now what's fun about this is the Contour system the script was
222. 42:01generated uh from Contour by Mariner software so Mariners writing software so I used it it's basically just a story
223. 42:08framework software you fill in their plot points and you're supposed to get a good story out of it because I have ADD
224. 42:14and can't follow directions I didn't finish it so I just put in whatever I put in and then down below so there's a bunch
225. 42:23of empty scenes right that's from the from Mariner this [ __ ] I wrote right so I wrote the I wrote The Big Blocks in
226. 42:32there now here's the actual script so this is all [ __ ] I wrote right this is this is human words words from humans not from the
227. 42:41robots you know you know hey you know AI is not just it's not just push push a button and out comes words you can put in your own words so
228. 42:52these are my words it's not robot words so what I did was I took every word I had here I put them in uh a different
229. 43:00color so that the AI would know these are my words and these are your words and so that way when we output the final
230. 43:06thing we're going to label every single word was this human generated or was it AI generated cuz you know you got to
231. 43:13tell people now you got to disclose it there's got to be transparency no there doesn't if you don't know I'm joking I'm
232. 43:23joking it's none of your [ __ ] business what tool I use to write my words if I put out shitty content that's
233. 43:31not that's on me not on AI um anyway we we we can this is meltdown Monday I'll [ __ ] do it I'll [ __ ] go in on it
234. 43:41I'll go in on you anyway all right these are my words and then at the bottom of all this I typed in so here's the actual prompt
235. 43:51based on these inputs I'd like you to analyze it and fill in the outline for me this this is actually a really bad
236. 43:58prompt I just this I did this kind of real time while everyone was watching me so the words did not come I watched the
237. 44:06playback and I I put I put based on these inputs I think I said based on these inputs I'd like you to analyze it and
238. 44:13then I paused for like 30 seconds trying to figure out what the [ __ ] to say and then I just came up with fill in the
239. 44:19outline for me and make it a good compelling screenplay with lots of twists and turns and surprises that also
240. 44:25introduces new characters that are memorable and move the plot forward organically great so that's the
241. 44:33prompt and then what it says is thought for 59 seconds which is fascinating and then here then it wrote um so if you go
242. 44:41look at this thought for 59 seconds this is not dissimilar to when you run code interpreter with GPT 4 and it says analyzing and if you hit
243. 44:54that little drop- down menu it shows you all the python code it's writing and executing this is very similar where if
244. 45:00you hit this drop- down menu it actually shows you the Chain of Thought prompting that it g g gives itself so
245. 45:09strawberry this reasoning engine code named Strawberry is actually an integrated Chain of Thought um reasoning engine David
246. 45:22Shapiro initially said this is a big loser move by AI they don't have anything proprietary here he has since
247. 45:30come back and said well it looks like what they're doing while it's simple on the surface is actually pretty
248. 45:36sophisticated so he's kind of changing his tune a bit um I also saw that um 01 um took an IQ test and nothing had

495. 1:29:45showand tell area where people would go in and talk about their um you know show images that they' made
496. 1:29:53or suo songs that they made and we had a an image area and a music area and a GPT and apps area things like that so what
497. 1:30:02we've done is we actually combined those two concepts so there's now an area called tools and play so the tools are
498. 1:30:10where you you know uh you know what you click on where you go do it and then the play is like talk about it and share
499. 1:30:19your work and things like that so there's a start here section which is you know just talking philosophically
500. 1:30:25about how to how to use the tools and how to how to do these things and then there's llm tools right so um in every
501. 1:30:35one of these sections there's a tool tab a tool talk chat area and then a showand tell right so the the the default tab is
502. 1:30:46here's a bunch of llms to go play with and then tool talk is you can come in here and chat about what's going on
503. 1:30:53which particular L with 01 talking about what's working what's not working is pretty interesting and then show and
504. 1:30:59tell we've got nothing there right now so what might you show show and tell with llms it could be a GPT it could be
505. 1:31:08um a chat that you did that's particularly interesting with 01 that maybe you share with someone else um in

540. 1:38:01dimensional mathematical space Here's the thing about the way embeddings work is that the original documents cease to exist they they're
541. 1:38:13not it's not taking the whole article of the New York Times or the whole opening passage of a book and putting it in
542. 1:38:21there it's taking the words and putting them in in semantic clouds if you prompt it cleverly enough you can reconstruct reconstruct
543. 1:38:32stuff which reinforces the misunderstanding of how this [ __ ] works but it's not how it works it's not copying and pasting it's generating
544. 1:38:44little tokens all one after the other or you know might be little groupings of them but
545. 1:39:00and it's it's nuanced but it's really important I mean it's not this similar to this like Tom Robbins is one of my

548. 1:39:37craft and then at the end of that six months I said I want to write a book the chances of me lifting something
549. 1:39:50from one of his novels is probably decently High because I've got all these Concepts in my head they're all sort of front and center and
550. 1:40:00so you can absolutely Prime the latent space right you can prompt your way into a corner of the latent space where you're going to
551. 1:40:10more high high high have a very high likelihood of capturing you know exact passages from something but in the case
