25. 6:22puppies in ai ai yeah a little bit just a little bit of a I hate II you should come watch it [Music]
26. 6:41I love the acoustic guitar I have one but need to practice more you know what helped me well this this is I don't know if you
27. 6:49have ADHD but if you have ADHD this can help one of the one of my symptoms of ADHD is sometimes I'll get a song stuck
28. 6:58in my head for [ __ ] in months uh especially if it's a song I like like I did it with avit Brothers uh
29. 7:08uh I and you and me or whatever the hell that one's called I did it with a bunch of Martin ston songs I did it with some John
30. 7:15hayatt songs I did it with some Brandy Carlile songs I did it so what helped me get better with [Music] guitar is I found someone
31. 7:30that I really liked this playing and it was really significantly beyond my skill and then I picked a song of his that was also significantly
32. 7:42beyond my skill um and so the the artist for me was Martin ston and so I just played the same song for like I don't know 3
33. 7:58months and just sucked a little bit less each [Music]
34. 8:22time sitting in this lonely Town wonder when things are going to change dream my life away seems these dreams have turned to
35. 8:36Bunch D clouds getting my nerve up but my past is pulling me down wondering how
36. 8:50long this black sheep going to stick around somebody told me once before you can never go home
37. 9:05again won't you leave say things to steer me away yeah from the truth of who I am and what I believe so I thanked him for his two
38. 9:18cents with a handshake and some sympathy yeah I packed up my blue jeans headed for this big price of my
39. 9:34freedom byebye Black Sheep to the black sheep of the family [Music] byebye oh that means so very much to
40. 9:51me by black sheet to my friends and my family by going off and set my
41. 10:06soul set it free free times they were changing did a little bit of
42. 10:22rearranging take a couple chances my progress I know advances is to the time of my freedom

45. 11:00that took me months to get the guitar the singing the like like anywhere close to not embarrassing do you know that do you

47. 11:20tonight let's see if I can find it I think this one of the most beautiful the most beautiful articulations of why
48. 11:35art is hard and why it's
49. 11:56important it's called irlas the creative process let's see that's 155 that's 2011 I think this the whole respecting the
50. 12:10makers comes back in reversal thriving and growing Together full circle nobody uh tells people who are
51. 12:20beginners and I really wish somebody had told this to me is that um all of us who do creative work like you know we get
52. 12:26into it and we get into it because we have good taste but it's like there's a gap that for the first couple years that
53. 12:31you're making stuff what you're making isn't so good okay it's not that great it's it's trying to be good it has
54. 12:38ambition to good but it's not quite that good but your taste the thing that got you into the game you're your taste is
55. 12:43still killer and your taste is good enough that you can tell that what you're making is kind of a disappointment to you you know what I
56. 12:49mean a lot of people never get past that phase a lot of people at that point they quit and the thing I I would just like
57. 12:55say to you with all my heart is that most everybody I know know who does interesting creative work they went
58. 13:02through a phase of years where they had really good taste they could tell what they were making wasn't as good as they
59. 13:07wanted it to be they knew it felt short it didn't have this special thing that we wanted it to have and the thing I
60. 13:14would say to you is everybody goes through that and for you to go through it if you're going through right now if
61. 13:18you're just getting out of that phase you got to know it's totally normal and the most important possible thing you
62. 13:23could do is do a lot of work do a huge volume of work put yourself on a deadline so that every week every month
63. 13:29you know you're going to finish one story because it's only by actually going through a volume of work that
64. 13:34you're actually going to C catch up and close that Gap and your the work you're making will be as good as your Ambitions
65. 13:41in my case like I I took longer to figure out how to do this than anybody I've ever met it takes a while it's going to take
66. 13:51you a while it's normal to take a while and you just have to fight your way through that okay that beautiful a lot of people never get past
67. 14:03that phase a lot of people at that point they quit that's that's the [ __ ] tragedy right there right that your work isn't shitty
68. 14:19because your work is shitty your work is shitty because you have taste that's so [ __ ] profound isn't it that you're just trying
69. 14:33to express yourself into your taste and so many people quit before they get
70. 14:49there and that's [ __ ] [Music] tragedy I think it's I think if there's a single thing a single thing on this planet that
71. 15:05I'm most passionate about it's this that it's working with people who have taste that it's working with people who are trying to live up to
72. 15:18their taste it's working with people that are willing to put in the work
73. 15:33only going through a huge volume volume of work do you ever have the chance of catching up to your taste I just love that idea it's not
74. 15:48that you're not talented it's not that you're not skilled enough it's that you just haven't caught up to your taste isn't that [ __ ]
75. 15:57brilliant having high ideals and perfectionism prevents me from creating right that goes back to
76. 16:12this where is it where is it is kind of a disappointment to you you know what I mean a lot of people never get past that phase a lot of
77. 16:24people never get past that phase so the trick is celebrate that you're not there yet because it means you have taste and your
78. 16:41job is to just keep doing the work until you get there here's the other thing here's the other thing what's what's

84. 17:39dump hours a night onto this Channel and and many more during the week into the AI salon and other endeavors is
85. 17:56that we're living in a Time in history I I recorded an an Murphy and and uh Cindy Co and I and a couple other people
86. 18:09Suzanne and two other folks um are creating a video series about gpts and the first chunk that we recorded today was just the five of us
87. 18:20talking and it was it it it was just amazing like like realizing that we're living in a time where people who uh three M storage
88. 18:35management love that I need to watch wait oh crap I just lost it I I need to watch that video again just put it put
89. 18:41it back up there again for Jim by the way if you don't know Jim Ross thre mile management you should get to know him he's an amazing
90. 18:56guy I don't know what that what that comment was if you can repin repin it if you can find it oh wait here it is I
91. 19:03need to watch that video again on the hard days yeah yeah exactly let's watch it again I I just Ira Glass has such an Elegance in
92. 19:11how he talks and how he articulates this idea and it's what I love about this quote I I assume he's not reading this
93. 19:19like this sounds like he's in an interview right and he's just talking this you can tell that this is an idea that he has processed
94. 19:3010,000 times you know it's there's something about the Elegance of How It's articulated just as he's talking
95. 19:38it nobody uh tells people who are beginners and I really somebody had told this to me is that um all of us who do
96. 19:46creative work like you know we get into it and we get into it because we have good taste but it's like there's a gap
97. 19:51that for the first couple years that you're making stuff creative work like you know we get into it and we get into
98. 19:56it because we have good taste I love that to get to do creative work we get into it because we have good taste I
99. 20:04want to do that I could do that right you aspire to something but it's like there's a gap that for the first couple years that
100. 20:13you're making stuff what you're making isn't so good it's not that great it's trying to be good it has ambition to
101. 20:20good but it's not quite that good but your taste the thing that got you into the game you're your taste is still
102. 20:25killer your your taste is still killer the thing that got you into the game the thing that made you say I want to do
103. 20:34this I can do that I want to write a screenplay I want to write a novel I want to write a poem I want to make a
104. 20:41GPT striving is living in action absolutely lunatick again you your taste is still killer oh by the way lunatick
105. 20:49when we when we were recording our um our little conversation today one of the things we were talking talking about
106. 20:59us talking about people who have transformed themselves with with you know just AI in some way and I was
107. 21:06telling your story and I started balling like a baby so thank you for that but it'll be recorded so you'll be
108. 21:14able to watch it over and over again um I was telling the story about how you know you were creatively stuck and then
109. 21:22you made these gpts and got really excited and then you told me at one point you went and got your index cards
110. 21:29and you were making you were basically just pulling out old index cards and that got me choked up and then I told
111. 21:35the story about when when um you created the Alexander Hamilton GPT and you were feeling hopeless about the future of our
112. 21:42company or country and you had a conversation with Alexander Hamilton and it restored faith for you in our democracy and it just in telling
113. 21:54it I just [ __ ] broke down I'm getting choked up now it's amazing and your taste is good enough that you
114. 22:01can tell that what you're making is kind of a disappointment to you you know what I mean a lot of people never get past
115. 22:07that phase a lot of people at that point they quit don't [ __ ] quit and the thing I would just like say

128. 23:46that to improve your videos fast these tools are leveling people up so one of the other things we talked
129. 23:54about in the in the conversation today is that what becomes possible for you so
130. 24:09like back to the irog glass taste thing what becomes possible for you when when in your soul you're like I know I'm
131. 24:17really good at writing and I'm sort of good at design and I don't really feel confident about much else what becomes possible for you
132. 24:29when now you're brilliantly good at writing brilliant at design really good at illustration really good at making music really good
133. 24:39at making video really good at project management really good at coding what happens when all of a sudden you go
134. 24:48from a capability and a half where you live up to your taste to 10 of them or 50 of them that's the era we're
135. 25:04entering that's [ __ ] insane the people that show up here night after night they've nicknamed themselves the Irregulars I just think
136. 25:17they're weird but they claim they're not they claim they're not weird they just say we're just we're just irregular I'm watching
137. 25:31them in real time just [ __ ] go from like I don't think I can do to holy [ __ ] I just did a thing that's kind of cool to oh this is really
138. 25:44amazing to oh this is cool so now I do this and now I do that two you know what I'm leading a seminar next week to oh I
139. 25:51just got promoted at work and now I'm doing this and I'm I'm like watching their energy thank you very much guys
140. 25:56I'm watching their energy go go from kind of retracted scared what do I do I don't know anything to just
141. 26:08blossoming and becoming contributing members of the AI Salon community and becoming self-expressed humans on all sorts of
142. 26:23levels and all sorts of channels right some of them are making music musical with sunna some of them are just getting killer
143. 26:32with images and and killer with images is really interesting some are going really artistic others are going like
144. 26:40funny others are going like you know commentar and satire some are going video thank you Empower I appreciate that a lot that
145. 26:50means a lot oh thank you very much thank you Robert Russy it's very generous and they're just [ __ ] Reinventing
146. 27:00themselves and like to a person that I talk to that's that's that's going through it's kind of like the Ira Glass
147. 27:07thing it's like with this AI [ __ ] it's like just [ __ ] play with it enough until it starts doing [ __ ] that
148. 27:16lives up to your taste because what's happening with AI is it's getting better while you're learning it so like you're
149. 27:25learning it you're like I'm not very good at prompting and my image is to suck and I know that's how you sound when you're on your [Music]
150. 27:37own it annoys the people around you I can promise you that so you should just stop that [ __ ] and then but you're getting better
151. 27:46and you're getting better and you're making images like maybe that's okay and then all of a sudden someday just Sam

155. 28:29struggling you enter the AI learning lab or you enter you know trying to figure this [ __ ] out and you're like ah sure would be
156. 28:37good if I didn't suck at writing you know you're up here's Hemingway right you're like okay I want to be like
157. 28:42Hemingway and you're like I can't form a sentence and you you're playing around with these tools and you sort of move from green to light
158. 28:52green and then what's happening now like in the olden timey days the move from green to like green was like 6 months
159. 29:00and then the move to Yellow was like another year and then the move to Orange was like 3 years and you never [ __ ] get the red
160. 29:08and then you know there's Hemingway right and it and it's like you still Aspire for this [ __ ] but you're like if
161. 29:14I can be on the border between orange and red okay I I'll I I'll be willing to let someone read my work right but now
162. 29:22we're in AI world and you start out here and AI sort of instantly takes you to yellow and then as the tools get better
163. 29:33you're like blasting into orange blasting into red and what's fascinating for me is that we've all got whatever skill
164. 29:46whatever is the thing that kind of Lights us up that we do and and there's a handful of people on the planet PJ lockran who spoke at
165. 29:55the AI Salon two weeks ago um he's one of these he's he's a guy he's like an incredible musician an incredible business person an incredible
166. 30:03illustrator just he's like an incredible entrepreneur he's just he's like if he tries it he's going to kick
167. 30:11ass at it and then there's the rest of us right so we've got one or two things we kick ass at and maybe if you're like
168. 30:22Renaissance you kickass at three or four but most people it's one or two all of a sudden with this AI
169. 30:31[ __ ] you're kicking ass at stuff that never in your wildest dreams would you be any good at like for me it's coding and and
170. 30:42making make not making pictures but like illustrating like art making art like I'm I'm a good photographer I've got a
171. 30:49good eye got good taste but I've got no skills like this and all of a sudden I can have an idea for an image in my head and bang it's
172. 31:03there and one of the things that I'm noticing in the in the AI salon and I'm trying to I'm trying to Tamp out as many of these fires as I
173. 31:13can is that people including myself feel guilty that the the speed with which
174. 31:28they're they're doing good work is too fast and so they apologize for it and I'm [ __ ] done with that I'm [ __ ] done with
175. 31:44it I think it's a Remnant from the Industrial Age work hard work hard for the factory you got to work hard hard work is where
176. 31:53it's at hard work is where it's at you got to work hard okay I'll work hard and up until few years ago a lot of the creative work and a lot
177. 32:10of the knowledge work like research and writing and thought leadership required time because processing language in our
178. 32:21brains and getting it out of our [ __ ] large language models and into a form that didn't suck because we have taste took
179. 32:38time and now what we can do is still have that same intention but instead of it taking you a week to get to the first draft you can
180. 32:49get to it in five minutes that's with some back and forth and within an hour you can have that thing refined to the point that
181. 32:58it's ready for editing so the thing that used to take you a week to get to the point that you could do a second pass on it you're not
182. 33:08having an hour and you can spend two or three hours of that day taking that thing from decent to really [ __ ] good and maybe
183. 33:20you use AI for that and maybe you don't and you can do that for [ __ ] you're not even good at my exper what my experience has
184. 33:42been depends on your relationship with your self-esteem if your relationship with your self-esteem tends toward the
185. 33:52shameful I used to joke on this channel about shame is my love language I've stopped that it was a joke and it was
186. 33:59mostly true right good comedy comes out of Truth and what I've noticed is that
187. 34:14um AI is providing a capability boost but it's also providing a confidence boost because I can get to the ideas so
188. 34:26much faster and I can have more of them and chat GPT is also like a golden retriever it's like gee Kyle that was a
189. 34:32swell idea can you give me another let me make it better for you oh yeah you want a picture too here you go there's
190. 34:39there's like a there's like a there's just like a there's not a lot of room to go oh I don't have talent I got
191. 34:48writers block I can't do that I can't come up with any ideas it's like I wish I had an idea for a dog jumping over a
192. 34:56log oh [ __ ] there's 20 ideas oh oh that one's not bad oh oh I kind of like that oh well I guess I am pretty smart after
193. 35:08all and it's like like that happens daily I wrote an outline in a and a in a 10-minute in a couple of minutes tweaked
194. 35:17it in a few more minutes probably had enough to do the recording in about 15 minutes yeah yeah like oh I've got an
195. 35:28idea to make a video oh dear CH jbt dear dear chbt very good to see you again it's fantas you look good you look did
196. 35:36you lose weight anyway uh there's no shaming in here okay anyway all right um I would like an outline I'm thinking
197. 35:46about doing a video but you know I don't have a lot of talent I don't have a lot of time and here oh
198. 35:53my that's pretty good right and then few minutes later oh that's really good and then all of a sudden you go from like the thing that
199. 36:03would have been your trap in the old in the olden timey days you know like 2021 the thing that would have been your
200. 36:11trap which is if I want to get this thing to 80% it's going to take me a week and I've got to battle my shame
201. 36:17demons for the entire [ __ ] week to get to that first draft how many first drafts never survived the first day many
202. 36:30I'm experiencing that less and less and less and less it's it's almost like it's almost like before you could use oh it's too
203. 36:45hard as the excuse not to do the work because what you were really feeling was I'm not good enough and it won't live up
204. 36:50to my taste so I'm not going to do it but it's hard and that's why I'm not doing it it's just I'm too tired and it's too
205. 36:58hard and now you don't have that excuse anymore so now you're like oh [ __ ] well it's not too hard so I can't justify it
206. 37:07that way oh [ __ ] am I just scared is this just fear is this fear of what other people are going to think of me oh
207. 37:15[ __ ] oh that's the sweat okay I'll wait for a day I'm just going to sit back you don't have the excuses anymore that you
208. 37:21can justify not doing it cuz you can [ __ ] knock that [ __ ] out now and and you can knock it out you can get stuff to 80% so
209. 37:34fast and that was the drudgery work and then you can do things like this you're like well actually Paul rater talks about this he says he
210. 37:44doesn't write to produce things he writes to understand the thing he's writing about right for him it's a way of mentally processing the
211. 37:55thing okay so write your 80% draft like that to process the thing and then use a i to tweak it and you know edit it and
212. 38:05give you ideas and reorganize it and then it's just really [ __ ] good anyway hi my name's Kyle

217. 39:05she's got all sorts of 3D printers and stuff so she can like come up with ideas visualize them like that and then
218. 39:14send them off to the 3D print farm and start materializing stuff holy [ __ ]

225. 40:17ADHD brain where I got to have the dopamine hit so I'll push it to the last minute just to do it but I'm like I'm
226. 40:22much more conscious of it now it's much more it's almost like I have an inside joke with myself like yeah you're going to be able to do
227. 40:29it in a few minutes doesn't [ __ ] matter I'm loving this thank you you'll help me reignite my AI passion Ron
228. 40:35Diggity yeah please do please do because here's the thing with with the AI stuff and and AI passion one of the really lucky things
229. 40:49about being AI literate right now is that there are essentially zero Z Stakes if you decide to do something with AI and you make the
230. 41:06worst the worst possible output like like in the history of humanity if you create the worst AI output in the
231. 41:13history of humanity and you show it to people and you go I did this with AI and I go oh okay it doesn't matter because 3 months
232. 41:25from now the tools are going to be 10 times better and 3 months after that they're going to be 50 times better 3
233. 41:30months after that we like our eyes are just going to we're going to wake up in the morning our eyes will start watering tears as just [ __ ]
234. 41:39happens so so we have a we have a window right now where all you have to do is play just play don't put any pressure on
235. 41:50it's got to be good it's got to live up to your expectations or anyone else's expectations most people don't know that this [ __ ]
236. 41:58exists and that's not a joke McKenzie the McKenzie report that came out in November 82% of Americans have not used chat GPT
237. 42:1082% so that means 18% have and that probably means that a huge percentage of the 18% probably opened it once and
238. 42:23went you know describe a Dalmatian puppy for me and it described it and then they went it's stupid I don't like it and I've never used it
239. 42:33since so let's call it half half of the 18% said that have have used chat GPT once they they still don't know what it is but
240. 42:43they said they used it so now we're down to 9% how many of that 9% are paying the 20 bucks a month for chat gp4 I think it's
241. 42:53low even in this channel even in the AI salon I am constantly surprised by someone who I assumed had paid the 20
242. 43:02bucks for chat gp4 is like I think I'm going to get chat gp4 now I'm like what the [ __ ] are you waiting
243. 43:11for so so that so we're probably down to 5% have chat GPT 4 and then how many software subscriptions do you have where you
244. 43:22bought the subscription and then never really got around to using it a lot right so let's call that half again so 2 and a qu% of people in
245. 43:37America have any clue any clue how powerful these AI tools are 90 let's call it 95 95% of people
246. 43:53don't have a [ __ ] clue so total freedom for us that are playing right now to just [ __ ] around just [ __ ]
247. 44:02around and find out does it work is it good is it as brilliant as I think oh I'm going to go make a feature film oh

760. 2:13:16professions if they just sit back and go well [ __ ] it that's not real music they're going to they're going to be

762. 2:13:31I'm leaning in I'm going to go learn learn into tool and what they might discover is they were really good at music with the
763. 2:13:39traditional music and they're really good at music with AI music but they're also really good at AI video and they're

765. 2:13:52writing the songs for a m movie they're going to create the whole movie and so maybe that that person that

769. 2:14:23he uses suo to write songs pulls them into the Daw splits them into separate tracks and then uses it as part of his

825. 2:23:16already here so my request is what what this is going to cost you to be a part of is that you just take a look at
826. 2:23:25these and commit to them like commit to like okay yeah I can I can do that I'm down with that if you read these values
827. 2:23:34and they turn your stomach and you're like H that sounds awful you'll hate this place if you look at these values

869. 2:28:48tools here's eight other large language models you can play with a lot of these are free or have free options here's all
870. 2:28:54the image generation things that I think are worth your while here's video generation music and audio 3D worlds and objects and then
871. 2:29:04interesting people to follow and then directories like here's all the ones you want all the tools there they are go get
872. 2:29:10them but you know these are the ones I promise you if they're on this list it's not a waste of your time the other thing we've got here is
873. 2:29:18guilds so AI 101 Guild and there's you know art and writing and business and we've got all sorts of exciting things planned for
874. 2:29:29the guilds coming up and these are subcommunities of people that might be into [ __ ] you're into and and you know
