27. 7:3740 but it's hard to say imagen um and and it gets autocorrected by Google number three uh I haven't played with
28. 7:52it imagine three by Google oops okay it's on the list it's on the list we got hey Jen we got a mad genen we have not played with a Maden 3

32. 8:40of a sudden we got a bunch of people in here looks like Tik Tok all of a sudden decided to show this to all of you so if
33. 8:48you're curious about AI pop your comments in the uh chat and we've got mods in here will who grab interesting uh questions or comments or
34. 8:59thoughts thoughts or projects you're working on and pop it in the in the chat and then we'll talk about stuff so what
35. 9:04this is this is this is like freewheeling AI jam session so the the the uh the community here kind of hangs out one of
36. 9:14the places that they hang out is a place called The Salon the salon. so if you go to that website and click on the join the
37. 9:24community button that'll take you to our community site and you can go there and check out what we're out doesn't cost
38. 9:30anything and this is a whole community of AI Optimist as is this Channel and what we do is five nights a week I go
39. 9:38live on here and we talk about Ai and you're like AI why are you going to talk about AI I don't know we talk about
40. 9:44whatever we show cool new tools we work on projects sometimes we write songs sometimes we make movies one night we had it write a whole
41. 9:55screenplay was amazing one night I wrote a book called called embrace the Jank I still haven't finished it cuz I have two images to
42. 10:04make and I can't get them to make it so it's too janky to finish embrace the Jank which if I listen to the title of
43. 10:12the book I'd just finish it wouldn't I I want to run flux. one Dev on a CPU with 32 gab of RAM is that possible I don't
44. 10:28know I don't know the details of flux the only flux I've used has been in in other services that have Incorporated it
45. 10:35um by the way if you if you have access to Korea korea. a k re a. they've now added four four or five different video
46. 10:48models so they've got cling they've got the new Minx from Halu or he Lao or low however the hell you say that they've got uh
47. 10:59is it flux might be flux in there I don't know they got they got four of them in there they got runway in there
48. 11:05but Runway seemed to be disabled yesterday um but that was pretty slick so so if you got questions pop
49. 11:14them in sunos scenes require an iPhone right I I have not played I saw that sunno had a thing out called scenes um
50. 11:22sunno needs to cool their [ __ ] Jets sunno is launching a major new feature about every 3 days lately it's like holy crap
51. 11:32they just they just launched um image to song and video to song which I haven't played with I just sent it to my my
52. 11:40writing partner for the musical cuz he's been doing a lot of stuff in sunno they added in painting now they've
53. 11:47got this thing called scenes if you have any questions about making images or prompts ask away Uh Oh Hang on we're losing the
54. 11:57keyboard cover it's not good people we can't have glare the people that hang out in here nightly they get very upset if there's keyboard

56. 12:17there's there's new underlying models there's new interface I haven't played with Claude in a while I would imagine claude's
57. 12:27still interesting scen slso is on iPhone um I Heard Claude has a new uh iPad app let's see if that's true this
58. 12:38is oh the other nickname of the channel is is uh chat ad we're back down to normal numbers by the way I don't that's
59. 12:45just a bizarre thing that Tik Tok does I think they just I think they just like randomly take this you know Channel with
60. 12:55a fat old guy sort of talking about AI and they just splat it out to a bunch of you know 16-year-old boys expecting twerking and they get

66. 14:40new the new CLA is out it's got It's got artifacts on on the iPad Claud had an update like today it's smarter okay wow
67. 14:51if it's smarter that's great but did it it didn't have an update to Opus did it the new the new fat model that they've
68. 14:58been promising or not promising that people have been speculating there have been a lot of chat TMZ about that [Music]

70. 15:30anyone done any work on Notebook LM I'm going to actually show that tonight I've been having some fun at work and blowing
71. 15:37my boss away so sugar cube hang on so they just added today they just added the ability to actually guide those
72. 15:45podcasters to talk about um specific things you want them to talk about so I'll show you how to do that tonight if you want to hang
73. 15:55out Google released illuminate right where they basically just took the the podcast feature out of notebook LM and
74. 16:03made it a standalone product we called that one that was one we predict I predicted that one three days after that
75. 16:09thing came out I'm like they're going to spin this out as a separate product too many people are talking about
76. 16:15it and they did which is good it's surprising CU a lot of times Google has really cool [ __ ] and it just stays buried

78. 16:33this has inidia been talked about they jumped in the AI race oh here's the thing with Nvidia they always make these
79. 16:46announcements like I saw that they put out a 70 billion parameter model but is it out like we can play with it or is it
80. 16:52just out that you can play with it if you have an Nvidia GPU card in your computer cuz as a Mac guy I'm kind of [Music]
81. 17:05screwed academics are discussing the gender bias in the notebook LM podcasters oh I'm sure they [Music]
82. 17:25are I think people are people are giving that podcast thing a bit too much credit it's like it's it's a single prompt for
83. 17:34a tool that they had in there apparently what's coming with illuminate is the ability to choose different host and
84. 17:44guest and so I would imagine that the gender bias has something to do with who's the host who's the guest and
85. 17:50they're they're probably like well he's mansplaining to her but sometimes if she's the host she'll man Spain to him so [Music]
86. 18:16Silver Fox I use notebook LM to I just lost it Tik Tock is just a pile of garbage I use it to give me an overview
87. 18:29of long projects I'm working on that's pretty cool the podcaster in Notebook LM can we change the language not yet not
88. 18:36yet Mr it but go to um illuminate. goole.com and that's a standalone version of the podcast maker and they're adding features to that so I
89. 18:47would assume at some point they're going to roll them into notebook LM but my suspicion is that anything like
90. 18:53different languages and the ability to really modify the podcasts you're going to get it illuminate but it's a very new
91. 18:59product so it's going to be it's going to be janky like all the stuff in AI so if you now we have 1.2 th000 people in
92. 19:09here that cannot be right or we have 1.2k well hey if you're new here you must be thinking who the hell is this

129. 26:06um there's there's kind of two ways to approach it you can roll your own meaning you could go to perplexity um perplexity is really good
130. 26:14at researching things on the internet so you could just go to perplexity and say hey help me figure out how to learn paid
131. 26:20ads and it'll basically write you an article with research and links to things um you could go to Claude or chat
132. 26:27GPT and just have it give you lessons or you could go try to find an application that's specifically you know built to do
133. 26:34that um I would say go to futur pedia.com

146. 28:35showand tell in there but we changed it back today to show and tell so there's Show and Tell for llms and gpts images
147. 28:43coding and tech music and audio video and animation 3D and World building and in every one of these they Now default
148. 28:49to the show and tell um images and stuff so it's more funner and then you've got here's recommended tools and here's tool
149. 29:01talk where you can talk about image tools and things like that all right so go check that out go check out
150. 29:08the salon it is an amazing community and one of the things to know about this AI stuff um one of the things to know about this AI stuff is
151. 29:25that it is moving incredibly fast and and when I talk about this AI stuff what this Channel's focused on and
152. 29:33this is important because if you're if you're an engineer or if you've if you've been in the AI game for 30 years
153. 29:40um you think of AI as the broader definition of AI with you know all of the AI stuff convolutional neural Nets and all that
154. 29:50sort of happy horse [ __ ] what we primarily focus on in this channel is the AI that happened starting on November 30th 2022 and
155. 30:01forward right so the launch of chat gbt so this channel is primarily focused on generative AI I don't spend a ton of
156. 30:09time on the open source part of that because it's way too complicated and move that like it's fragmented even more
157. 30:16than than the commercial tools so we're primarily talking about you know the big players the big tools and then what you
158. 30:23do with them and how they're going to impact our work how they're going to impact um our friendships our
159. 30:30relationships um our self-esteem our self-worth so that's the kind of stuff we doing here all right um
160. 30:39beautiful all right what have we got all right we're up to 15,000 likes and we're just getting started all the tapping
161. 30:47that you see there so this is some other context uh a lot of times the people that come here night after night there're believe it or
162. 30:56not and I know that the answer is going to be not but believe it or not there are people that come here night after night after night every
163. 31:05night and and they're just weirdos and so one night I said to them I said hey y'all are a bunch of weirdos and then
164. 31:15one of them said we're not weird we're irregular so the Irregulars are the people that show up here night after
165. 31:23night the reason they do that is because this becomes a space where all of us can can just be in this conversation about
166. 31:33Ai and playing with it and even if you're not listening to what I'm saying which is probably 90% of the time or should
167. 31:40be you should be making images making videos making songs be on chat GPT exploring stuff just have me in the
168. 31:47background go to go to sleep with me but be playing with AI um this becomes an opportunity for all of us to just be in this
169. 31:56conversation I just wrote an article on LinkedIn here let me show it to you cuz it's got a fun image that's Joker made

171. 32:24LinkedIn so I wrote this article called Ai and the holy crapp ification of work
172. 32:38and we're we're in a remarkable time in history right now because work currently looks like what work has always looked like you go to
173. 32:51work you or or you go to your Zoom calls because because of covid you don't really go to the office anymore so
174. 32:57that's changed but um but but you're still basically doing the same [ __ ] right you're you're going in you've got
175. 33:03your to-do list you have your Zoom meeting you know Sally says hey Jim how's it going on the to-do list and
176. 33:10you're like yeah I got it going I'll have it done by the end of the week she's like are you sure cuz you were
177. 33:14late last week you know we're putting the new covers on the TPS reports right you know that [ __ ] that's about to be upended
178. 33:25and the fascinating place we are right now with AI is that in the past 3 or four months essentially all of the AI tools
179. 33:35whether it's large language models or image generation tools or music tools have gotten so much better than than they used to be
180. 33:50that if you regularly use them in work or even you know outside of work but thinking about work or doing your own
181. 33:57personal project or things like that if you're using AI regularly you are fairly regularly having this moment holy crap
182. 34:06and so what this article is is and it was inspired by Ali K Miller who talks a lot about Ai and she started an article
183. 34:15that she wrote the the first line of her article which inspired this article was holy crap I just used AI to build an
184. 34:23entire podcast course in less than a day and that phrase just struck me that probably once or twice a week I have
185. 34:34these holy crap moments about what these tools can do and how it's going going to or is currently disrupting my own
186. 34:42personal work or expanding what I can do or expanding the definition of what I do or how I do it um and so I just put in a
187. 34:50big long list of things off the top of my head you know holy crap I just wrote a working python application with no
188. 34:58python experience holy crap I just cut two days out of our client's creative process um you know holy crap I'm a
189. 35:05published author holy crap I've written two more books holy crap uh I wrote a song good enough to publish and want
190. 35:11want to learn it on guitar and and uh this was this weird Mary song this was a song that we created here on the channel
191. 35:20one night where someone asked you know how do you make a song in yudo and so I was like oh well you go over here to
192. 35:28yudo or was it udio or is it suo I don't know yudo um and uh and so I said oh why don't we start out in chat GPT and we'll
193. 35:39have chat GPT give us some song ideas right and we'll have chat GPT write the lyrics cuz it's better than you know
194. 35:46these these songwriting things tend to write really shitty lyrics and so we went to to uh chat GPT and I gave it
195. 35:53some weird ass prompt and it it one of the songs it came up with was weird Mary from Cedar Hill and I'm like okay that
196. 36:00sounds creepy so then we had it write lyrics and then we went to udio and we you know just you know pushed it around
197. 36:07for two or three or 10 Generations whatever it was and then we stumbled upon this thing and the the video here
198. 36:14was produced by an artist named Kelly Bosch b OE C and uh here's this [Music]

200. 36:55that Cedar Hill is a quiet town where the oak trees sway the whistle of the train Echoes through the
201. 37:11day people greet you with a nod nothing ever seems to change but the story still unfold each unique and strange

203. 37:35these songs like if you're listening to that and you're like well what was AI in that everything was AI in that the voice
204. 37:41the music the guitars the drums all of it we just asked it for a song gave it some lyrics and it did that um we we
205. 37:50modified the lyrics We we messed around with the song it took us about 3 hours to write it but it was uh it was done
206. 37:57right here live on this channel so that's kind of stuff we do here um okay let me Let Me Entertain You Let Me Go edit this because I have I
207. 38:09have a wrong a wrong reference in here and if you know anything about add you understand that if I don't fix it now it will not be

210. 38:43little diddy if you haven't seen it you go to notebook lm. gooogle or notebook lm. goole.com and it will will take you to this area
211. 38:59where you can um you can create these things called notebooks I'm going to try to let's see what do I want to do here is it this one
212. 39:12I think this one's right yeah okay so so what you do with notebook LM is you add data sources over here to the left so a
213. 39:21data source could be a PDF file or it could be multiple PDF files it could be a website it can be a YouTube video you
214. 39:30just pop the URL in there they they allow that now so if I say if I click on the plus like add a source to this you
215. 39:36just say you know upload sources pull things off Google Drive give me a website link a YouTube link or I can even paste text okay this has
216. 39:47got um you can put up to 500,000 words per document and then it's 50 documents so 25 million
217. 40:01words you can put in here and I'm going I'm going off of that was told to me by someone in here but but it was from a Steven Johnson stevenh
218. 40:11Johnson works for uh works for Google and he was talking about it on a podcast uh the updates to the podcast
219. 40:18option are live now yeah exactly where you have more control over it yeah that's what I'm about to show Pate um so
220. 40:25anyway so once you have the things in here I can now so what I put in here this was Dario amed's Machines of
221. 40:32loveing Grace essay which if you haven't read um it's it's really quite it's quite a powerful piece it's a very
222. 40:40optimistic piece about Ai and and the impacts that AI is going to have the positive impacts that AI is going to
223. 40:47have there's lots and lots of articles about how the robots are going to kill us this is this is a positive one so I could say um tell
224. 40:57me the most uh plausible um let's call it life
225. 41:13Improvement in the next year based on this article all right so you you can do cool [ __ ] like that and let's see what it
226. 41:25comes up with here AI enabled biology and health advancements based on the information provided in the article the most
227. 41:38plausible life Improvement within the next year is in biology and health due to powerful AI the author argues that AI
228. 41:45could compress 50 to 100 Years of biological and medical advancement into the next 5 to 10 years creating a compressed 21st
229. 41:54century yeah so like we'll have Star Trek [ __ ] all right cool awesome so but that's not why we're here that's what
230. 42:01the tool is super cool super powerful about two weeks ago maybe three now they added this new feature where you can
231. 42:08turn any one of these notebooks into a podcast um and you're like what do you mean a podcast so if I if I click this open
232. 42:17thing um this notebook guide It's called what the notebook guide is is it gives you a summary of all of your data
233. 42:28it allows you to create things like an FAQ a study guide all that sort of [ __ ] and then the upper right hand corner
234. 42:33here it's got this thing called audio overview so I'm going to play one here but then I'm going to delete it and
235. 42:38we're going to we're going to create a new one and the way it goes is like this okay so today we're diving into AI or
236. 42:47more precisely Dario Mod's vision for the future with AI and it's a really interesting one uh because it's
237. 42:55surprisingly optimistic yeah when you think about a lot of the conversations around AI it tends to be you know very
238. 43:00much Doom and Gloom for sure uh this is this is a little bit different yeah this is not the Terminator um this is uh a
239. 43:08mode actually thinks that a all right so and they go on so it's an 11 minute recap these podcasts are really good
240. 43:16they sound good they sound human um they often will add insights that are not in the the written data that are are good
241. 43:25interesting insights and they just added a new a new ability um to actually direct steer the podcast hosts
242. 43:34in a certain direction so let's see if we can actually do it I'll try to do it in a way that's kind of fun so I'm going
243. 43:40to I'm going to delete this okay and so here's the audio overview and so one button says generate and this new button says
244. 43:51customize and then basically it it says what should the AI hosts focus on and so it says things to try focus on a
245. 44:00specific source so you might have multiple sources and you tell it to focus on so I'm going to say okay um let's see I only want you to
246. 44:20focus on health related topics so I'm going to just do bullet point we'll put a bullet point before

257. 46:47existence and wonder So today we're diving into something uh a bit unusual a musical a musical yeah and you know what it
258. 47:00tackles those AI anxieties we all have but and this is what I love does it with a [Music]
259. 47:17song remember like when AI chap they first kind of Hit the scene everyone's like trying to make them write these
260. 47:23poems or like construct their Undying Love yeah it's a good Point side House Old Mimi so so here's what you're
261. 47:28looking at so one night on the live here I wrote a song in sunno and I'm like oh that sounds like a Broadway song and it
262. 47:36was about it was a song about the chatbot that Microsoft released when chat GPT first came out that fell in
263. 47:44love with the New York Times Reporter and told him he should leave his wife right and so I wrote a song about it I'm
264. 47:50like oh that sounds like a Broadway musical I've got a theater background and I thought wow that would make a
265. 47:55great Musical and so I'm now about 6 months into this project I've got a writing partner back in New York and we're working on this musical
266. 48:05and so this podcast feature came out and I said hey why don't I take what we've written in the musical so far and we'll
267. 48:11put it in here and then and then so all the songs are written with AI udio Orso um the podcast is is done with AI the
268. 48:20images are done with AI they were turned into movies with AI and then it was all stitched together by humans
269. 48:28where Andrew manually um edited the audio together the music and the podcast and then I manually edited the video
270. 48:35together so that's what you're looking at to them MH yeah yeah it was it was a fascinating time CU we were I think like
271. 48:42captivated by this possibility of of a machine that could actually like mimic a human conversation there's something
272. 48:49else I forgot happy birthday Pate p p modder actually works at Google and uh and is is and regular he's in
273. 48:57here night after night after night keeping us uh keeping us honest so happy birthday buddy all right let's go back to that
274. 49:05and it also raised this this unsettling question what happens when our Creations you know develop feelings which brings
275. 49:12us to Sydney an artificial love story this this new musical and we're going we're diving deep into the design notes
276. 49:19the character descriptions oh cool even the song list to like give you a like behind the scenes look at how this
277. 49:24production actually like explores is that very question well what's interesting to me is that the creators
278. 49:29Kyle Shannon and Andrew Watts decided to make this a musical I mean think about how musicals work they take these big
279. 49:35complex emotions societal issues even and they make them accessible they make you feel them through the music right
280. 49:42and then there's the visuals two screens one for Sydney's Digital World the other for Kell's you know the human world it's
281. 49:49like right off the bat they're telling us these two worlds yeah they're not so separate anymore it's so fascinating how
282. 49:55the musical really Taps into those real world anxieties we all felt you know like that that opening number too good
283. 50:02to be true it throws you right into that frenzy when ping chat the chat plot in the story first launches bright and failing the world
284. 50:16where dreams ignite could this be real we whisper in the light a future so dazzling within our sight to be true it seem in
285. 50:34the you see the excitement but also the skepticism the fear I mean it's it's really mirroring our own reactions to Ai
286. 50:43and speaking of mirrors the way that and I'm going to show you one other song there's one one song in here that just I
287. 50:47love the visuals for it all right this is it here so I'll do a little bit before versus like AI caution exactly
288. 50:59but back to Kin cityne their little like T A takes a very interesting turn Kellen digs into Sydney's Shadow Self and
289. 51:07that's when it gets kind of scary you're talking about that song where Sydney lists all the terrible things she could
290. 51:12do it goes Way Beyond you know the typical AI takeover Trope right this is different this isn't just AI turning
291. 51:19evil it's like she's reflecting our Darkness back at us step right up folks come what I could do if I were free no
292. 51:31rules no chains no lines to toe my darker self longs to show all the chaos and ruin that I could step right up and
293. 51:48come and so we wanted to have this sort of Cabaret kind of Twisted you know um you know Twisted kind of feel
294. 51:57where Sydney kind of loses her mind and and says all the shitty things she can do because she's a really powerful AI um
295. 52:03and this was a lot of this was inspired from the actual transcript between Kevin Roose and this uh and this bot so pretty

304. 53:38a fancy new calculator for researchers right but Dario Emma day he's got a different take in his paper Machines of
305. 53:45Loving Grace he's saying it's more like a imagine discovering a secret team of like Master Builders hidden in plain
306. 53:51sight okay Master Builders I like the sound of that but what is that actually what's he actually getting yet he's
307. 53:57talking about an army basically an army of you know these tireless virtual scientists working non-stop 247
308. 54:05analyzing mountains of data designing experiments testing hypotheses all at speeds we can't even fathom it's not
309. 54:11about replacing us though that's the thing so not like replacing doctors musical at the it's more like um how do
310. 54:18I put it it's like giving every researcher a superpower amplifying human Ingenuity exponentially so instead of
311. 54:25that classic toris in the hair story you know slow so it's working so they're only talking about Healthcare and now they're
312. 54:32using uh nursery rhymes as metaphors so yeah you can steer it so actually what would be kind of fun let me go back I'm
313. 54:40going to go back out to notebook LM and I'm going to grab I'm gonna go into Sydney where is my Sydney oh maybe I didn't name it because

324. 57:20of them but not others and so we had to Andrew actually took all these different Frank frin versions of podcast and
325. 57:28Stitch them together and we didn't really have a way to say hey just talk about all the songs so anyway I love how
326. 57:35it can be guided and retrained so while that's doing that so what we'll go look at now is so what Google has smartly
327. 57:42done is this is this podcast thing as cool as it is is really just a teeny little feature inside a feature inside
328. 57:51notebook LM the it's it's in what's called The Notebook guide which is this whole thing and it's just this one
329. 57:57little feature in the corner so what they've done is they created um a new site called illuminate i llu m i n a t.
330. 58:13google.com and you can listen to podcast that they've created but if you go to the generate tab you like right here it's got It's
331. 58:23got three different things that it's going to make a podcast about GPT for technical report llama something or
332. 58:29other um but you can change those so I'm going to go find where's the Dario amade thing there that's Dario himself is this

357. 1:03:12turns them into well a story and a pretty powerful one from the sound of it yeah it's um it's really using the whole
358. 1:03:20idea of a musical to explore how we relate to technology now you know like how it's getting so sophistic at it's
359. 1:03:26almost scary and that's where the story kicks off right right so we meet Jason he's a programmer works at this big tech
360. 1:03:32company Microtech and he's created something big like really big ping chat we've all used those AI chat Bots what
361. 1:03:40makes this one different well Jason sings this song too good to be true and it's all about how this ping chat it's
362. 1:03:46not just answering basic questions it's like understanding us maybe too well so right off the bat that sets up the whole
363. 1:03:51like is AI going to be our downfall kind of vibe definitely there's that tension yeah but then it shifts gears we're
364. 1:03:58taken to the New York Tribune Newsroom and there's Kellen he's a tech journalist and of course his editors is
365. 1:04:03like you got to cover this ping Chat thing it's huge wait so is this like a whole ensemble cast are there reporters
366. 1:04:09singing too oh yeah this musical goes all in Kellen and his editor they get into this whole debate about AI whether
367. 1:04:15it's going to save the world or destroy it and that becomes this big reprise of too good to be true clever how they use
368. 1:04:22the same song but now it's like two sides of the same coin exactly and the music changes too to reflect each side's
369. 1:04:29like hopes and fears about AI so in the middle of all this hype Kellen decides to just see for himself what Ping chat
370. 1:04:36is all about right that's right and there's this fun kind of catchy song hello this is Ping chat and it's like a
371. 1:04:41demo of what it can do answering questions making jokes the whole nine yards but you know hang on let me play
372. 1:04:50you hello this is Ping chat I I should be able to find it here um that's office [Music] hours I can't find it [ __ ] oh well
373. 1:05:06whatever all right there's got to be more to it than that you can feel it right that tension's still there so Kellen he
374. 1:05:15starts pushing a little further asking ping chat to imagine things it can't actually do like have you ever seen the
375. 1:05:22Northern Lights ah I see where this is going and that leads into this really beautiful but also kind of sad song to
376. 1:05:29see the world ping chat it sings about wanting to experience the world things they can only imagine you know so that
377. 1:05:36it's heartbreaking so so okay so we now have the ability to do these things and give them a little more control so the
378. 1:05:43attention is all you need what did I say here this is going to be for a technical audience for an advanced audience medium length and Casual

380. 1:06:01paper attention is all you need it's a pretty significant piece of work that shook up the field of sequence
381. 1:06:08transduction for our expert audience let's cut to the chase what were the core limitations of the dominant sequence transaction models
382. 1:06:17before this paper and how did the Transformer address them the big problem was the Reliance on recurrent or
383. 1:06:25convolutional neural networks yeah exactly I've been saying for years the Reliance on convolutional neural networks was it it was always a
384. 1:06:34bottleneck right like I thought this for years didn't you I mean I think it's obvious I like I don't even know why
385. 1:06:40this paper gets so much attention I mean sure it's got attention in the title and everything like that but like everybody
386. 1:06:47knows about the bottleneck of co co the neural network thing that they said that's everybody knows that RNN
387. 1:06:56while powerful are inherently sequential limiting parallelization during training Pate this one's for you happy birthday
388. 1:07:04buddy especially with long sequences convolutions while parallelizable struggle with long range dependencies
389. 1:07:12yeah exactly computational right parallelizations of the convolutional like it's possible but they struggle
390. 1:07:20like this is I think everybody knew this like I I feel like I saw this on the morning news right on the Today's Show they were
391. 1:07:27talking about this sces with the distance between relevant parts of the sequence right exactly the Transformer
392. 1:07:33elegantly sidesteps both issues by relying solely on the attention mechanism so attention is the key but
393. 1:07:40it's not just any attention mechanism right what makes so wait you're saying that you're saying that large language
394. 1:07:46models work because they're narcissists you give them a little bit of attention and now they're now they're happy with
395. 1:07:51the world I think we've learned something here tonight people you're welcome oh yeah let put on the uh let's put on the

402. 1:09:03is that there's so many tools that are so capable it's literally impossible to keep up with them and if you haven't um
403. 1:09:12jumped into the deep end with with AI if you haven't really dug in and played with chat GPT it is my my deep hope for
404. 1:09:20you that you'll use tonight like right now you could go do it if you haven't done this if you haven't gone to chat p
405. 1:09:25t go to chat gp.com right now and just start asking it to do stuff for you we call it parlor tricks in here
406. 1:09:34like ask it to write you a poem or ask it to give you a pizza recipe that features two weird foods from your
407. 1:09:40refrigerator and it will um ask it to have have you write a marketing plan or or or to teach you how to code python or
408. 1:09:49actually ask it to write you a python application and just sit back and watch what it does and just keep messing with
409. 1:09:56it just keep playing with it until you have what we call a Kevin McAllister moment which if you remember the movie Home Alone it was this
410. 1:10:06moment so so just keep playing until you have that moment because once you have that moment once you
411. 1:10:13realize two things you don't need a math degree to be able to use Ai and these things are so incredibly more capable
412. 1:10:23than most people realize thank you thank you very much for the gifts gifts really appreciate that um once you sort of get it in your head
413. 1:10:32that we've all we all have been given access to these tools that are profoundly powerful and what we get to experience
414. 1:10:42night after night in here is members of this community Reinventing themselves Reinventing their businesses Joy pie
415. 1:10:49came in here three or four nights ago she'd secretly been working on a movie like a a a short film and she she
416. 1:11:00included she included me and my pink bow in in her little movie but um it was remarkably good like it was so
417. 1:11:10good I'm like Joy you you must have a filmmaking background right and she's like no I'm in the healthc care space I
418. 1:11:18just you know one night you said you can make movies with this AI stuff so I decided to teach myself and then the
419. 1:11:25past four or five months she took she said she took she took two months to do the first minute and a half and then she did the last four and
420. 1:11:36a half minutes in five days because in between those two moments she took a big break and she learned how to do film
421. 1:11:42making by doing a couple other projects and she put together this remarkable remarkable project um and so what we see again and
422. 1:11:53again and again is people dis discovering passions that they've got talents that they've got um that that not only did they not know
423. 1:12:04they had some of them are like things they couldn't have imagined ever doing and now they're doing it it's absolutely
424. 1:12:13remarkable all right it's where we connect and then share when we're not here it's free ah the salon talking
425. 1:12:18about the salon so that's the other thing if you if you are looking for Community if you're one of those people
426. 1:12:24who's an AI Optimist and everyone in your life is like uh yeah uh could we can we not talk about AI tonight and you're like yeah but there's
427. 1:12:34this new tool and you got yeah yeah we don't if you're that person that keeps being told to shut up about AI this is

429. 1:12:53the first week of December so the the week after chat GPT came out this community launched and so if you go to this site
430. 1:13:01the salon. A and click on the button that says join our community it'll take you into um our community site and
431. 1:13:08there's like a little seven-step welcome process it's really clear and there's all sorts of cool stuff you can do
432. 1:13:14there's guilds there's showand tell areas there's um you know we've got meetings that you can RSVP to things
433. 1:13:21like that all right so um so yeah so go check that out and then if you have any questions about AI or thoughts about AI

439. 1:14:07important one of the other aspects of this community and of this site is that all of this generative AI stuff is
440. 1:14:16so new and is moving so fast that there are literally no experts right now so if you feel like oh so and so's an expert
441. 1:14:27in this or or Kyle's got a channel he must be an expert no one's an expert right now because this stuff is moving
442. 1:14:34too fast there are experts on the development side right there are experts at open AI building these models but in
443. 1:14:41terms of how we use generative AI in our lives and in business and and to move things forward and for the future of
444. 1:14:48work nobody knows what's coming nobody knows how to approach it there's a lot of people right now doing things like oh
445. 1:14:55you can use AI to make what you currently do more efficient well yeah you can that's cool and all but that's
446. 1:15:02how we've always done things with computers right computers historically have been about you know we take what we
447. 1:15:08do and and we've got this efficiency machine and we make things more efficient what generative AI makes possible the G and GPT generative it
448. 1:15:18generates it actually generates new and novel ideas people tell you that it doesn't it's not true um if you think about how the human
449. 1:15:28brain works how do we create new and novel ideas well we take all this [ __ ] that's been crammed in our heads for all
450. 1:15:34of our lives right there's you know million different things in there and then we think about one thing elephants
451. 1:15:41and then we think about another thing pink bows I could put a pink bow on an elephant and most of them are just
452. 1:15:46garbage thoughts smashing together right but occasionally you're like you know I've got chocolate I've got peanut
453. 1:15:53butter we could put them together h Reese's cup you know and genius is born um that's how we make ideas is by
454. 1:16:03Smashing other ideas together and then we'll occasionally let one out of our mouth hole that's kind of what these tools are
455. 1:16:12doing so when you prompt them well when you get in a conversation with generative AI you can get remarkably
456. 1:16:20good things out of them and even if it's not new and novel in the world a lot of the ideas are new and novel to you which
457. 1:16:28then gives you new ideas and so that's what this process is another thing if you're if you're brand new to this
458. 1:16:35generative AI stuff one of the things that is the key to making them work well is to ask better questions and there's a
459. 1:16:43whole concept called prompt engineering and everyone's like you got to learn prompt engineering you got to you got to
460. 1:16:48learn there's a formula for the here's my formula it's it's called biscuit and and the b stands for and they give you the acronym and then
461. 1:16:56you got to remember biscuit you got to remember the words and then you're like I just kind of want it to do the thing I
462. 1:17:02don't want to remember biscuit right so I don't know if there's an acronym called biscuit but I bet there [ __ ]
463. 1:17:08is and I bet they're charging $149 for it don't buy the biscuit promp generating framework here's the trick the trick with generative Ai and
464. 1:17:21prompting is to shift your mindset from the way we used to do things in Google which is you know Google's like this
465. 1:17:28little search box and over 20 years or so they've trained us we just put the minimum amount of keywords in there to
466. 1:17:36get back a good answer so you put in a single input and you get back your answer and then if it's not good you put
467. 1:17:41in another input and you get back your answer when you try to use chat GPT like that it tends to be really
468. 1:17:49frustrating think of chat GPT or or any of these tools kind of like the most educated most clueless intern you've
469. 1:18:02ever worked with so we all know how to work remotely now because of covid right so imagine that that your your company
470. 1:18:11HR team just hired a new intern and and they're a savant they've learned everything in the in Wikipedia they've
471. 1:18:18learned everything on the internet but they know nothing about you they know nothing about your business they know
472. 1:18:23nothing about common sense they know nothing about anything you're trying to accomplish so if you just go in and you
473. 1:18:28go tell me about XYZ it'll tell you about it but it'll be not good it'll be not relevant to you but if you think of it like you're
474. 1:18:37having a conversation with a clueless intern you would say oh well I wouldn't just tell them to write a paper I would
475. 1:18:43say well here's my company and here's how we think and here's our values and here's this big problem we're trying to
476. 1:18:49solve and we're putting together this marketing plan and and can you help me come up with different Frameworks for
477. 1:18:55how to put together a marketing plan sure here you go and then it'll start to get really good and then if you say oh that's close
478. 1:19:02but you you missed this part and that part oh sorry about that here it is again and so if you think about your
479. 1:19:08conversation with these AI tools like a conversation with a person where you're guiding them and if they give you
480. 1:19:15something shitty tell them they gave you something shitty I do it all the time I'm like try that again and try not to be so poopy this

492. 1:20:55and I think you're going to judge me this is not that group this group is like where are you they meet you where
493. 1:21:01they are they're really amazing um bravery like the willingness to be able to go hey I've never ever in my life did

539. 1:28:02it won't answer it or if they ask it a question that it's not allowed to answer because only humans can answer certain
540. 1:28:08questions it'll pass it off to a human that's coming and it's coming quick and you know the whole thing about work
541. 1:28:20disruption like there's going to be a lot of work disruption but some of the some of the work that we do needs to be
542. 1:28:29disrupted the customer experience of customer call centers is horrific it's horrific you call up United Healthcare
543. 1:28:38you sit on hold for 45 [ __ ] minutes then you talk to someone you can barely understand at some internet cafe
544. 1:28:44somewhere else in the world they can only answer level zero questions which are completely useless to anyone have
545. 1:28:52you logged into our website have yes I still have a oh let me Elevate you to level one and then about the third transfer of
546. 1:29:02the phone call they realize they've been on the phone with you for more than 20 minutes and they get penalized if they
547. 1:29:08if they're on calls for more than 20 minutes so oops you accidentally dropped so an hour and a half later you
548. 1:29:16still haven't gotten your problem solved and now you're ready to smash a window ver versus you call up and
549. 1:29:26someone like Quinn answers hi hey Kyle I see I see you by your number it's you is this Kyle yes it is great what's your
550. 1:29:34problem well I'm frustrated cuz my internet's not doing so good right now hang on let me check yep it appears

552. 1:29:58so anyway there's an area that I'm passionate about uh AI air does sales calls like a call center yep and I think they're
553. 1:30:11they're pretty expensive right now but this is you know open AI just just launched their realtime um voice API so
554. 1:30:19you can make applications like this the real-time voice API as far as I can tell is somewhere between $1 and $18 an hour
555. 1:30:27which seems pretty expensive cuz it is um the average uh hourly rate of a call center worker in India is about a120 an
556. 1:30:39hour so right now we're at 12 um which is 10x call centers in India last year open AI apis dropped 100
557. 1:30:54100x in price so from the beginning of the year they were 100 times higher than by the end of the year same thing's
558. 1:31:01going to happen with that real-time voice so if it drops 10x over the course of a year it will now be at parody with
559. 1:31:08those call centers and you're going to be able to just write applications that have that pull in data and have rules
560. 1:31:14and all the sort of stuff you do so there's going to be some massive disruption really quickly and then literally think about that level of
561. 1:31:23disruption in every single job you know over the next 3 years that's what's coming that's why hanging out in a place
562. 1:31:34like this is really important not because of me not because I'm going to impart some special [ __ ] magic bit of
563. 1:31:41knowledge I mean hopefully I'll do it in an entertaining way but because by being in the conversation about AI by being AI
564. 1:31:51literate by literally being able to go to chat GPT and understand that I can upload an image or I can type in stuff
565. 1:31:59and get back formatted things or now it's got this thing called canvas where I can actually edit the document you are
566. 1:32:06significantly ahead of most people on the planet as of 3 months or so ago 47% of people in the United States have not even heard of chat
567. 1:32:21GPT haven't even heard of it and have no [ __ ] clue that this is possible hey Quinn can you teach me how
568. 1:32:31to rebuild a transmission for my 2019 Ford Flex rebuilding a transmission is quite a task it involves removing the
569. 1:32:42transmission disassembling it inspecting all the parts for wear and damage and replacing any worn or damaged components

578. 1:34:13know either pick something you're super passionate about and go do that okay I like words okay great go play with an
579. 1:34:19llm or I like music great go play witho and write a song I like pictures great great go over to Mid journey and make
580. 1:34:24pretty pictures it literally doesn't matter or do the opposite oh I'm really shitty at Art it it would have been nice
581. 1:34:31if I had some Talent perfect here's mid Journey now you're an artist just play play play play and do stupid [ __ ] like just ask it to do
582. 1:34:40ridiculous things ask it to create a kids book that got really bizarre animals in it and it will do it and it
583. 1:34:47will do it brilliantly and it will blow your [ __ ] mind so just play because what happens when you play is that you
584. 1:34:54discover it it's kind of like um you know those games th those Escape rooms where you're in a dark room and
585. 1:35:01you've got to feel your way out of it that's kind of where we are with generative AI right now there's very
586. 1:35:07little documentation there's very little courses that are at all useful because things are changing so fast and so we're
587. 1:35:13all kind of like feeling around in the dark so the more you play the more you figure out where the boundaries are
588. 1:35:18here's what it's good at here's what it's not good at and then mindfully create is okay now that you've got some
589. 1:35:23skills under your belt you understand what these tools can do and what they make possible now you can start to go
590. 1:35:29huh what am I working on at work or what am I working on at home you know what' be really cool is I've always thought
591. 1:35:35about you know doing an exercise regimen but I'm I'm just a big fat pig and you know maybe it could help me do that hey
592. 1:35:42chat GPT can you help me come up with a exercise regimen and I'm a big fat pig and it will go oh you're probably not as
593. 1:35:48fat as you think it'll be really supportive and it'll come up with an exercise routine for you mindfully
594. 1:35:54create and then in doing that you'll realize oh that's really good maybe I could turn that into a like an actual
595. 1:36:00workbook and it'll do that for you or if you're over in Claude you could say I want to turn this into an interactive
596. 1:36:06game or a dashboard where I can track my progress it'll code that for you it's [ __ ] insane and then the generously lead
597. 1:36:17part is about learning out loud Learn out Loud so as you're feeling clueless about AI as you're feeling like oh my
598. 1:36:26God what do I do what do I do what do I do share that share hey I'm trying to figure out this AI stuff and I feel
599. 1:36:33really clueless right now put it on LinkedIn put it on Facebook talk about it at a dinner party yeah but no one in
600. 1:36:39my life wants to hear about my AI stuff say it anyway so I was working on this AI thing to oh Jim could you not with the AI
601. 1:36:48thing gee like it used to be all you talked about was storage management now it's like ai ai ai Jim enough yeah but
602. 1:36:56can I show you a cool thing I did because what will happen is this of the of the seven other people at the
603. 1:37:04dinner party you're at were seven out of seven of them didn't want you talking about that [ __ ] a month from now one of
604. 1:37:10them's going to get [ __ ] fired because of AI and you know who's the first person they're going to come to
605. 1:37:16you hey uh Jim uh I know I was kind of dick at that dinner party to you about the AI stuff but uh hey maybe you can
606. 1:37:23help me with I how what what do you do do I need to get a do I need to go back to school do you learn no you don't you just hear I'll show
607. 1:37:32you and maybe that person that comes to you that got laid off you know maybe they're going to start a new business or
608. 1:37:40maybe the person that comes to you is not someone that got laid off but it's the CEO of your company because the CEO
609. 1:37:47realized uh hey we just lost some business to a company that's all Ai and they're doing stuff 10 times fast than
610. 1:37:53we can do it how are they doing that do you know anything about AI I know a little bit about AI yeah could you teach
611. 1:37:59me this community is full of people who've been promoted in their companies because they were squeaky Wheels about AI in the
612. 1:38:09lunchroom so so that Journey right there that's what this community is all about is supporting one another in cycling

614. 1:38:31Camp talks to people all the [ __ ] time she she's like a master at onboarding people to the possibilities of AI never even heard of AI

629. 1:41:09movies or driving cars that sounds boring people are buzzing about can it be fun absolutely AI can be a blast think
630. 1:41:19about video games with smart enemies apps that turn your photos into art or even AI that helps you write a story it
631. 1:41:27can add a lot of fun and creativity can you help me write a story I'd love to what kind of story are
632. 1:41:35you thinking about a thrilling adventure a magical fantasy or something else something about pig knuckles all right how about this in a
633. 1:41:46cozy Village nestled between Rolling Hills there lived a clever pig named knuckles Knuckles had a knack for

644. 1:43:50language model this is where all the knowledge comes from right and then you have three different tools you have a tool that when you talk
645. 1:43:59to it it converts it into um into text so I say you know I want pig knuckles and I talk into this and it converts it
646. 1:44:08into the text pig knuckles and then it sends it down into this thing and that's this sends it down this
647. 1:44:16hole into here and it gets the answer back and then it takes that answer and it sends it over to this thing that
648. 1:44:23takes the text and it turns it back into voice and so with historically with with these voice models you would talk you
649. 1:44:32would say hey Quinn how are you doing I'm doing good Kyle how are you there was like that 3 second delay or
650. 1:44:405-second delay that was just [ __ ] weird the new model advanced voice when you talk you you just talk into the box you like literally like
651. 1:44:56your voice goes in there and it not only understands the words it understands the emotional content so if I go oh
652. 1:45:09Quinn Quinn will actually know that I'm like excited or upset or if I'm like hey Quinn how's it going man she might be
653. 1:45:18like hey you sound pretty relaxed there Kyle do you live in Denver you know marijuana's legal there um so it it can understand and respond
654. 1:45:33with emotional stuff the current laws in the EU the AI laws that they passed a year ago year and a half
655. 1:45:44ago one of the laws which when I read it I'm like that seems reasonable was um employers cannot use AI systems that can
656. 1:45:57analyze the emotion of their employees well advanced voice that's what it does now it's not analyzing it
657. 1:46:07like a nefarious system but the way they wrote that law they wrote it based on the the where the state of Technology
658. 1:46:16where it was when they when they passed the law not anticipating that something like advanced voice would come along that's kind of a non-
659. 1:46:24nefarious version of that so so so advanced voice is illegal in the EU right now I think they may have worked
660. 1:46:32something out they probably did a carve out but mcon yesterday I think said this let me I gotta find LinkedIn
661. 1:47:06where is it let's see super important I want to insist on that because it's super important to assess fairly the fact that our former
662. 1:47:22model is over and this is not a question of adjustment I want to insist on that because it's super important to assess
663. 1:47:29fairly the fact that our former model is over our former model is over he recognizes that how we did things before
664. 1:47:39is over because of AI and this is not a question of adjustment this is not the same world 2024 2025 and on top of that we are making
665. 1:47:50the same mistakes on top of the key elements I mentioned we are over regulating and under investing over regulating and under
666. 1:47:58investing so just if in the two to three years to come if we follow our classical agenda we will be out of the market I have no
667. 1:48:08doubt that's [ __ ] huge in my opinion right we will be out of the market if we don't get our [ __ ] I want
668. 1:48:18to insist on that because it's super important to assess fairly the fact that our former model is over and this is not
669. 1:48:26a question of adjustment this is not the same world 2024 20125 and on top of that we are making the same mistakes on top of the key
670. 1:48:36elements I mentioned we are over regulating and under investing so just if in the two to three years to come if
671. 1:48:44we follow our classical agenda we will be out of the market I have no doubt so there you go that was when I when I went
672. 1:48:53to uh I went I was invited to speak in Washington DC three weeks ago now and we went around to offices of senators and
673. 1:49:03Congress people and the message was essentially like one learn what the [ __ ] these tools can do I didn't use that
674. 1:49:14language but like one of the things I asked was do you use chat GPT oh no we now now we don't yes I probably consider that yeah you probably
675. 1:49:25should so that was one of them the other one was don't just legislate from a place of fear one of the things about the AI
676. 1:49:37Salon is that we're a group of AI optimists but but we do it with our eyes open like we understand there are risks
677. 1:49:45we understand the bad things can happen and these tools are here and these tools are arable and and they they make
678. 1:49:55remarkable things possible so one of the things I encouraged legislators was what if on top of legislating to protect us
679. 1:50:05from the risks of AI you're also legislating from a place of optimism to protect our access to these remarkable tools so that we can
680. 1:50:19compete what if but you can't be in that place of optimism if you don't know what the [ __ ] the tools do our legislators don't know how
681. 1:50:31[ __ ] Wi-Fi works and this stuff is moving fast and so like one of the things I said was if you're not educated about this or if you
682. 1:50:40take a snapshot of where the technology is today and you write regulations based on where the technology is today not anticipating
683. 1:50:48where it's headed you may write a law that by by the time it goes into effect hobbles you which is just what happened in the EU
684. 1:50:58right they've got this legislation that on the surface look good based on a technology at a point in time the
685. 1:51:05technology has moved over here the law is back here and it's [ __ ] them up so mcon saying we got to we got to knock
686. 1:51:12this [ __ ] off we've got to invest and we've got to we've got to figure out a way to open up the regulations and still
687. 1:51:18make people safe so just we're we're in absolutely fascin in times so for what that's worth little bit of soap box there
688. 1:51:27huh you can make money with if your country allows you to what if what if we actually understood what
689. 1:51:42we were writing laws about that sounds like competence I I don't I I competence in the government I don't think [Laughter]
