You ready to sing, buddy? You ready to sing with daddy? Are you ready? >> [music]
0:25
>> 10,000 moths swarm around my head. 10 10 million more in books written beneath my bed. I wrote all of them
0:39
all when searching in the swamps. Can't find how to hold my hands. I know you need me in the next room over.
0:53
I'm stuck in here all paralyzed. For months I got myself too stuck in. So, I don't know the words. >> [laughter]
1:07
>> Hey, happy Monday. Is it Monday? It's Monday. It's Monday. Welcome to the AI Learning Lab pre-show. It's the show before the show. You're
1:15
like, "Kyle, what's the show?" The show is the AI Learning Lab. It happens in 20 minutes over in the AI Salon. If you
1:22
don't know what the AI Salon is, you should check it out. If you're on YouTube or LinkedIn, the the link to the
1:27
live is down here in the description. If you are on the TikTok, it's up in my description. Coming music always.
1:37
If I can learn if I can remember the words, yes.
1:52
Hang on a sec. I have some tuning issues.
2:08
The weather's changing. And like my guitar was in tune for like the whole month of July where it was all in the 90s and
2:21
we've had a couple of days in the 70s. And it's changed everything. Wild. Wild wild wild wild. It's the wild west,
2:31
people. I tell you what. I'll tell you what. Um if you're new to the AI Learning Lab, we do things. We keep it chill.
2:46
Monday nights, we call them Meltdown Mondays. I'm just going to talk about AI, whatever's on my mind. >> [music]
2:56
>> I'm going to talk about some updates to the to the Great Repurpose, which I'm really excited about. New look and feel we're working on.
3:22
10,000 words swarm around my head. 10 million more than books written beneath my bed. I wrote or read them all when searching
3:38
in the swamp. Still can't find how to hold [singing] my hands. And I know you need me in the next room over.
3:51
I'm stuck in here all paralyzed. Four months I got myself in lots of too much time. Spinning mirrors framed in yellow walls.
4:11
Well, laying it like most people, I'm no different. Like to talk on things we don't know about. >> [music]
4:22
>> Well, laying it like most people, I'm no different. Like to talk on things we don't know about. All right. All right, that was good
4:32
enough. I I I recovered. I found some lyrics. I I sort of yanked up the the guitar playing. Whatever, doesn't really
4:40
matter. This is the AI Learning Lab pre-show, the show before the show. We're going live at 7:30 Mountain Time, so 15 minutes from now.
4:48
So, if you're on uh LinkedIn or YouTube, just go to the description of this video. You can see the the URL here. But, if you just go to
4:56
the description of the video, there's a hyperlink. You just pop on over to the salon. If you're on TikTok or X, it's up
5:02
in my profile. So, click on my profile and right there in the profile is the link. Uh it's a it's a little warm. It's
5:09
a little warm here at AI Learning Lab Central. It's a Monday. I had I I My day started out super optimistic, super enthusiastic. And then
5:21
uh it was a Monday and a bunch of client stuff came in. And you know how it is with client stuff, you got to deal with
5:27
it cuz they're the ones paying you the money. So, So, so what I thought was going to be a uh a relaxed uh
5:36
and uh productive morning ended up being uh some some some fire putting out for 3 hours or so. So, it's a little stressful, but
5:47
all good now. Every time I see you now,
6:01
get that look in my >> [music] >> Every time I see your mouth, I hear that smile. In the early misty morning, loud I heard
6:16
the engine turning in the old boat outside. Were you leaving me again today?
6:33
You would convince me again today. You're leaving this hot town looking for someone else's golden ring.
6:47
Should have said, "Hey, so long, [music] Susanna." Hush now, don't you cry. So long, Susanna. [singing]
7:07
Don't you cry for me. All right, good people. So, what's going on? There is lots going on. Um
7:22
one really cool thing that I'm I'm going to talk about a little bit tonight is there's a new model out called Qwen 3.8.
7:29
It's one of these Chinese models, and they released it, I don't know, 3 weeks ago. So, what happens when these open what
7:37
they're called open-weight models, when the open-weight models are released, because they have the open weights, the
7:44
developer community can take those fancy models and they can shrink them. And they can shrink them to a size that you can run them
7:54
on like a local machine, like a 16 GB Mac Mini or a you know, 16 GB graphics card. Um and the Qwen 3.8 model has been just
8:06
been distilled down into something that can run on a on a 16 GB machine. And it's it's benchmarking similar to DeepSeek V4
8:22
and OpenAI 5.6 Terra, not the sole model, but the the Terra model, the middle model, which is really good
8:29
model. Um but it's something you can run on your local computer. And so so the the our ability to have very powerful
8:40
AI running locally just continues to improve and it's improving very quickly. Like it's it's like 6-8 months ago, you couldn't really run
8:51
a local model and expect to do anything worthwhile with it. Like you certainly couldn't run one of these agentic harnesses. And now you can.
9:00
Now you can. So we'll talk a little bit about that. Talk about the Great Repurpose tonight. If anyone has any questions.
9:05
Um I'll dig deep on stuff tonight. Mondays are I kind of wax philosophical. Try to figure out what the hell's going
9:11
on. Maybe we'll go look at some news, something like that. Hey guys, help him in a big rabbit hole. Of course, Mr. IT, that's your job.
9:20
>> [laughter] >> That was lovely. Thank you. Oh, thank you very much. Hey Danielle, what's shaking? June
9:35
Mary's in the house? Sharon Crawford. Okay, kids. So, here's the deal. If you're new here, we're going live. This is the pre-show.
9:43
This is the AI Learning Lab pre-show. We're going to talk about all sorts of stuff tonight. Um also tomorrow night, if you haven't seen
9:51
it, is uh a back to basics uh course. Uh not a course, an evening. So, the third Tuesday of every month, I teach a
9:59
course called back to basics. And the one we did last month was a kind of a general AI overview, like here's how AI
10:07
works and how image generation models work and and here's basically a speed run on some things you can do with
10:13
ChatGPT and it it just covered a bunch of stuff. This this month, tomorrow, um I'm going to do something on image generation.
10:23
So, all sorts of different ways to generate images, the different kinds of images you can generate, what the different tools do, what what
10:30
all is possible. So, it's going to be a deep dive on image generation. So, back to basics starting with just if you've
10:35
never done it before, all the way through some fairly advanced stuff. So, I'm really excited about that. That's tomorrow night at 7:30.
10:44
This this time Is it this time? Wait, hang on. Let me make sure of the time. If you go to the AI Salon and go to events,
10:54
you can you can you can see them all. Um back to basics. Yeah, 7:30 Mountain Time tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure.
11:01
I thought I was right. I was correct. All right. So, beautiful. I loved it. Brought many friends. May need to watch
11:07
a replay. Yeah, it was it was a fun one. And tomorrow's going to be a blast. Images are always good cuz it's visual.
11:13
It's nice and visual. The the image generation tools are really quick now. Midjourney right now is is just cooking
11:19
fast and the quality's really good. Um I'm going to show you some stuff I did in Midjourney today um tonight
11:26
uh over in the in the AI Salon. So, in 8 minutes, we're going going live in the AI Salon. So, if you're on LinkedIn or
11:32
YouTube, down in the description of the video, just click on the link. If you're on TikTok or X, go to the profile and
11:39
click on the same link there. Standing between
11:53
you and a hard place is insane. Standing too near you and a fire makes it clear
12:09
you're trouble to make. Real trouble can't you see? Mr. IT created a community and buzz. Oh,
12:23
that's a rabbit hole. That is indeed a rabbit hole. Have you enjoyed the recent Red Clay Strays CD? It's pretty good. I
12:30
have not. I've not even heard of them. I will check it out. >> [music]
12:45
[music] [music]
13:01
>> Another thing I might do tonight is I might go into um I might go into LM Studio and and clean out some models.
13:19
Do some pruning. Old models that we don't need anymore, but are taking up precious hard drive space. And by the way, you know we still call
13:28
them hard drives just like we call it video tape. All the hard drives are solid state now. There's no hard drive. The reason they
13:36
called it a hard drive is cuz we had floppy drives that were literally floppy. They used to stick them in your computer and they go
13:49
>> [laughter] >> Then we had hard drives that were like, you know, rust on a platter that they would spin really fast.
13:59
And now it's just chips. Everything's chips. Anyway, have I tried Grokbot yet? I do not have access to Grokbot yet. You
14:06
have to be the the next level up from where I am. So, I'm excited to try it. Uh I haven't tried it. Now, if anyone
14:12
knows if it's more generally available, I will probably try it. Um I continue to be cautious with the agentic tools.
14:26
Not because they're scary. I mean, sure they can do things like wipe your hard drive, but, you know, but I'm just cautious with them because
14:35
the uh the what's it called? Um the setup the setup time to set up each one is pretty high.
14:51
Um and getting them to work well requires some finagling. And and so you can't just jump around between them as easily as you could. So,
14:59
I'm trying to figure out what the what the right balance is of try new tools, play with AI, right? Play first, like we do in the AI Salon.
15:08
Um anyway, if you're new here, welcome. This is the AI Learning Lab pre-show. We're going live inside the AI Salon in
15:14
4 minutes. So, down in the description on LinkedIn and YouTube is the link over to the live stream. And on TikTok and X,
15:21
it's in in the old uh ye old whatever that's called, profile. Hey, Sharon Crawford, what's happening? Mary Mary's in the house.
15:35
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. >> [music]
15:51
>> Time for PJ's and AI. Love it. I have put more people to sleep >> [laughter] >> over the past 3 and 1/2 years. >> [laughter]
16:04
>> Have you learned anything? I don't know, but it sure helps me sleep well. >> [music]
16:19
>> Does he wear a suit and tie? Does he work at the Dairy Queen? Does he listen to rock and roll? Does he feed the mean? Singing hallelujah.
16:32
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Lay- lujah. What about Jesus? >> [music] >> Didn't he do it, too? Yeah. Hang out with prostitutes.
16:48
Have a drink, too. Power of example, my mama said it and I heard. She said 1 oz of action beats a ton of words. Singing hallelujah.
17:02
Mama said there would be angels. Hallelujah. Mama said there would be some. Yeah. >> [music] >> All right, good people. I'm going to go
17:16
get ready for the live show. If you want to join the AI Learning Lab live, we're going live in 2 minutes over in the AI Salon, so
17:24
link is in the description, link is in the bio. Peace out. What's on for tonight? I'm probably going to have a
17:30
meltdown. It's meltdown Monday. I'm going to be talking about the great repurpose, some redesign work we're we're doing, some re-finagling
17:38
of the five stages, uh which which is is really good stuff and we're putting together uh some business offerings. I'm
17:45
really excited about. So, uh so yeah, beautiful. I've learned a lot even during sleep. Beautiful. All right, I will see you all
17:54
over in the AI Salon. Come join us. Bye. Do do do
