27. 5:21uh it was a Monday and a bunch of client stuff came in. And you know how it is with client stuff, you got to deal with
28. 5:27it cuz they're the ones paying you the money. So, So, so what I thought was going to be a uh a relaxed uh
29. 5:36and uh productive morning ended up being uh some some some fire putting out for 3 hours or so. So, it's a little stressful, but
30. 5:47all good now. Every time I see you now,

35. 7:07Don't you cry for me. All right, good people. So, what's going on? There is lots going on. Um
36. 7:22one really cool thing that I'm I'm going to talk about a little bit tonight is there's a new model out called Qwen 3.8.
37. 7:29It's one of these Chinese models, and they released it, I don't know, 3 weeks ago. So, what happens when these open what
38. 7:37they're called open-weight models, when the open-weight models are released, because they have the open weights, the
39. 7:44developer community can take those fancy models and they can shrink them. And they can shrink them to a size that you can run them
40. 7:54on like a local machine, like a 16 GB Mac Mini or a you know, 16 GB graphics card. Um and the Qwen 3.8 model has been just
41. 8:06been distilled down into something that can run on a on a 16 GB machine. And it's it's benchmarking similar to DeepSeek V4
42. 8:22and OpenAI 5.6 Terra, not the sole model, but the the Terra model, the middle model, which is really good
43. 8:29model. Um but it's something you can run on your local computer. And so so the the our ability to have very powerful
44. 8:40AI running locally just continues to improve and it's improving very quickly. Like it's it's like 6-8 months ago, you couldn't really run
45. 8:51a local model and expect to do anything worthwhile with it. Like you certainly couldn't run one of these agentic harnesses. And now you can.
46. 9:00Now you can. So we'll talk a little bit about that. Talk about the Great Repurpose tonight. If anyone has any questions.

51. 9:43This is the AI Learning Lab pre-show. We're going to talk about all sorts of stuff tonight. Um also tomorrow night, if you haven't seen
52. 9:51it, is uh a back to basics uh course. Uh not a course, an evening. So, the third Tuesday of every month, I teach a
53. 9:59course called back to basics. And the one we did last month was a kind of a general AI overview, like here's how AI
54. 10:07works and how image generation models work and and here's basically a speed run on some things you can do with
55. 10:13ChatGPT and it it just covered a bunch of stuff. This this month, tomorrow, um I'm going to do something on image generation.
56. 10:23So, all sorts of different ways to generate images, the different kinds of images you can generate, what the different tools do, what what
57. 10:30all is possible. So, it's going to be a deep dive on image generation. So, back to basics starting with just if you've
58. 10:35never done it before, all the way through some fairly advanced stuff. So, I'm really excited about that. That's tomorrow night at 7:30.

73. 13:01>> Another thing I might do tonight is I might go into um I might go into LM Studio and and clean out some models.
74. 13:19Do some pruning. Old models that we don't need anymore, but are taking up precious hard drive space. And by the way, you know we still call
75. 13:28them hard drives just like we call it video tape. All the hard drives are solid state now. There's no hard drive. The reason they
76. 13:36called it a hard drive is cuz we had floppy drives that were literally floppy. They used to stick them in your computer and they go
77. 13:49>> [laughter] >> Then we had hard drives that were like, you know, rust on a platter that they would spin really fast.
78. 13:59And now it's just chips. Everything's chips. Anyway, have I tried Grokbot yet? I do not have access to Grokbot yet. You
79. 14:06have to be the the next level up from where I am. So, I'm excited to try it. Uh I haven't tried it. Now, if anyone
80. 14:12knows if it's more generally available, I will probably try it. Um I continue to be cautious with the agentic tools.
81. 14:26Not because they're scary. I mean, sure they can do things like wipe your hard drive, but, you know, but I'm just cautious with them because
82. 14:35the uh the what's it called? Um the setup the setup time to set up each one is pretty high.
83. 14:51Um and getting them to work well requires some finagling. And and so you can't just jump around between them as easily as you could. So,
84. 14:59I'm trying to figure out what the what the right balance is of try new tools, play with AI, right? Play first, like we do in the AI Salon.
