8:17 you at the bottom leftand corner is the
8:21 station itself and I think if enough
8:23 images are made from it it allows you to
8:25 save it so you can you can either share
8:28 the station and then other people can
8:30 join it or you can save it into your
8:32 saved folder so I've got a bunch of
8:35 Saved ones in well not a bunch I've got
8:36 four saved ones in here I guess four is
8:39 technically a bunch oh that's nice too

16:57 what what what you can't do as far as I
16:58 can tell
17:00 is you can't make a station from an
17:03 image you generated but if you go to the
17:06 library and if anyone knows if you can I
17:08 just haven't figured out how to do it
17:10 today um so you go to explore and then
17:13 it just looks like a feed
17:16 but every one of these you can turn into
17:18 a station so all right let's do this
17:21 trippy
17:23 Spaceman and then in the lower leftand
17:25 corner it says create station and so now
17:28 it's going to do
17:30 a thing based on this and then what's
17:32 what's cool the the the way that it
17:35 seems like this is
17:36 working is it creates some amount of
17:40 images with that prompt but then it
17:41 looks like it's slightly altering the
17:43 prompt so it'll go along and then
17:45 something will be slightly
17:47 different let's see we'll see if we can
17:50 get something slightly different here
17:51 yeah like that thing okay that's not a
17:53 Spaceman that's a jellyfish and then so
17:56 we can create a station out of that so
17:58 this is like how I've gotten to stations
18:00 that make stuff I like is I turn them
18:02 into like I I find a single image in
18:05 something I started
18:08 with and then I turn that into a
18:12 station and apparently when the with in
18:16 the announcement video I watched the
18:18 announcement video from the guy from coh
18:20 here oh and he also he talked about why
18:23 they're called stations I couldn't
18:25 figure it out I was like you know like
18:26 the like the cafeteria station was what
18:29 had in my head um but he said it's more
18:32 like a radio station right like it's
18:34 just it just plays music the radio
18:36 station does and so this station just
18:38 you know generates
18:40 images

18:49 same they're just a little they they
18:52 must have that
18:55 psychedelic yeah let's get out of this
18:57 cuz I think this is going to be tough to

19:39 machine so let's create a station out of
19:42 that are those oh those are creepy eyes

19:57 dark setting

20:04 then what I've noticed is if I put this
20:07 up it doesn't let me save it for a while

20:18 Channel and I'll pop that in as a
20:21 comment so now we can all be looking at
20:25 the and I guess what might be fun is um

20:32 images you know from from each of these
20:35 things that you think are
20:37 cool you know save them upscale them if
20:40 you want but maybe post them back into a
20:42 regulars Channel or actually you know
20:44 what maybe post them as comments
20:46 comments into here anything that you
20:47 curate
20:49 out this one's really cool like I
20:52 definitely want let me let me save a
20:54 couple of these cuz I think when you
20:56 save them that's when
20:57 you when they give you access to be able
21:00 to save the that one's
21:03 cool so plus add to
21:08 library that one's

21:47 the here's the deal with resolution on
21:49 these how this thing's making images one
21:53 time a second which that's what a
21:55 station is doing is every second you get
21:56 a new image which is mind-blowing
22:00 um it's using a thing called uh sdxl
22:04 stable diffusion XL
22:06 turbo and I think they only do somewhere
22:09 between one and five iterations of the
22:12 image before they publish it so these
22:15 images tend to be really um rough in
22:18 terms of typography in terms of details
22:21 things like that but if you have a paid
22:23 decco here account when you upscale it
22:26 it it does like you know 30 or 40 or 50
22:29 Cycles on it and it fixes a lot of those
22:31 a lot of the anomalies it's still janky
22:34 right it's not mid Journey quality stuff
22:37 it's stable diffusion but um but the
22:41 upscaling helps fix them a lot but
22:43 there's something kind of beautiful
22:45 about the jankiness of them that one's
22:47 really
22:49 cool save that
22:54 one nope still can't do it that one's
22:57 cool
23:02 and then you know the the other thing
23:04 that I I mean just the ability to really
23:06 quickly do a series is there's something
23:10 fascinating about that as well like that
23:12 one's
23:14 cool right just Qui quickly curate a
23:17 bunch of things just
23:18 let let the latent space you know basic
23:22 so basically what this is doing is
23:24 slightly altering the prompt and just
23:27 spinning up you know slight variations
23:32 of the
23:33 image that was the seed image I
23:37 guess that looks like an Atari
23:45 2600 and you're just kind of getting a
23:47 peak into kind of
23:50 the the crazy ass mind of like you know
23:53 the amalgamation of all the images it's
23:55 been trained on it's crazy
24:01 you know and just pure intuition in
24:03 terms of creative inspiration just pure
24:07 intuition I find this really

26:20 from the movie

30:16 that is a feed of all the stuff everyone
30:18 else is making now you can't do this
30:21 with an image you make as far as I
30:23 understand it but this feed
30:26 now is actually
30:29 a station so a St think of a station
30:31 Corey like a radio station where it just
30:34 plays so I can find any image I like
30:36 like if I like like this molecule thing
30:39 these are cool right what's this say
30:42 macro molecular structures of SARS Co 2
30:46 proteins great so I can say um create
30:50 station out of this and then it's going
30:52 to take that prompt and it's just going
30:54 to turn it into an auto
30:59 picture

31:03 machine that's that that are all slight
31:06 variations of that prompt and and so I
31:08 don't have to prompt at all I can
31:10 literally just sit here and go oh I like
31:13 that save right or create a station out
31:16 of that like that looks more like a a
31:19 neuron and a you know synapse than or
31:22 like a bunch of
31:25 them and so now I've got a whole Channel
31:27 That's inspire ins spired by that image
31:29 and then I can say oh oh that's kind of
31:31 cool but I can say this is cool let me
31:34 create a station out of
31:38 that and then you can save stations and
31:41 you can share
31:43 stations and if you go into IR regulars

52:50 is interesting you just say create

1:02:13 um that software developers are starting

1:02:25 this is a really good example where this
1:02:28 is a site that's built on top of stable
1:02:31 diffusion technology which is open
1:02:33 sourced um and and they're using a
1:02:37 flavor of that called sdxl turbo right
1:02:39 so like the tech that they're using here
1:02:41 is fairly straightforward but how
1:02:44 they've put it together is really really
1:02:46 clever I feel like I feel a similar sort
1:02:49 of thing with um LTX
1:02:54 Studio which I got access to let me see
1:02:58 sign
1:03:01 in and this thing again is using fairly
1:03:06 low-level open-source image generators
1:03:09 and video generators and probably like
1:03:12 chat GPT 3.5 or one of the Llama
1:03:15 models um but it it makes
1:03:23 a it makes it automatically makes a
1:03:26 movie with scenes and shots within the
1:03:29 scene and every one of those is
1:03:32 editable and then it's got characters
1:03:35 and it maintains consistent characters
1:03:37 throughout the thing and it's it's
1:03:39 jankier than [ __ ] right now like it
1:03:40 doesn't it doesn't work great but it's
1:03:43 really cleverly put together and as this
1:03:47 thing gets better technology underneath
1:03:49 it and as they figure out the interface
1:03:51 more it's going to get very very
1:03:54 powerful and so I just so so that's
1:03:57 that's a thing I don't know if it's a
1:03:59 strong opinion it's a thing I'm really
1:04:00 excited about but it it's almost like
1:04:03 we're moving into a second phase of the
1:04:06 generative
1:04:07 AI um
1:04:10 era where you know developers have had a
1:04:13 year and a half now of having access to
1:04:16 these
1:04:17 tools you know since it's gotten really
1:04:19 popular and they're starting to do
1:04:21 interesting stuff with it some people
1:04:23 want to know where the images and the
1:04:25 prompts are are coming from who what
1:04:29 generates well the the prompts are
1:04:31 coming from so if you go to the explore
1:04:33 Tab and Deco
1:04:35 here

1:04:43 stations so what what I don't know right
1:04:45 now is how you how you create a station
1:04:49 from a prompt right so if I go to the C
1:04:52 so in Deco here there's there's kind of
1:04:54 two phases there are two areas there's

1:05:00 in a prompt and that's my prompt or I
1:05:02 can put in an image so I can I can
1:05:04 upload a reference image of let's say
1:05:06 Robert Downey Jr and then I can say um
1:05:11 spaceman

1:05:20 1980s video
1:05:24 arcade and then you know it will make
1:05:28 you know Robert Downey Jr in a you know

1:10:57 logged into this station was all

1:11:01 completely overwhelm the servers so I
1:11:04 assume the reason they made it so that

1:11:08 sees the same images is that it makes
1:11:10 the burden of each of these stations
1:11:13 relatively low from a processing
1:11:16 standpoint so I find that pretty

1:20:40 today I found another
1:20:49 relative this
1:20:52 one and so I took this image I upscaled
1:20:57 it took it into into uh in image editor
1:21:00 and you know did some editing on it and
1:21:03 then I wrote in 1971 my uncle KS Shel
1:21:07 Shelby was temporarily in the spotlight
1:21:10 for his prototype muscle car design he
1:21:12 did for Dodge which was Nick nicknamed
1:21:15 the sexy wedge the design was noted
1:21:17 noted for its asymetrical hood scoop and
1:21:20 foreshortened vinyl roof right so it's
1:21:22 only got a hood scoop on one side and
1:21:24 the vinyl roof is it only comes up to
1:21:27 about a foot before the for the
1:21:30 windshield which is just [ __ ] weird
1:21:33 um so I thought i' I'll write about that
1:21:35 the performance was said to be face
1:21:37 melting but the design was not picked
1:21:39 picked up for production which my uncle
1:21:41 never really recovered from here's an
1:21:43 unpublished photograph taken by Motor
1:21:45 Trend photographer the car was
1:21:47 apparently scrapped later that year
1:21:50 so the fact that I didn't prompt it to
1:21:54 give me this I'm the one that chose it
1:21:56 I'm the one that said oh that's cool and
1:21:58 I think that tells a story and I'm going
1:21:59 to choose to tell that story so I think
1:22:01 it's I I don't think like you know my
1:22:04 point of view on on the creativity thing
1:22:07 it's like it doesn't it doesn't matter
1:22:09 what tool I use to get there it's it's
1:22:11 the story I choose to tell that that is
1:22:15 the artistic point of view so but you
1:22:19 know listen other people are going to be
1:22:21 like if you didn't put 20 hours into it
1:22:23 then it's not real work and that's fine
1:22:25 I like that's that's just a difference
1:22:27 of opinion I'm fine with
1:22:29 that I think that one of the things that
1:22:32 we're going to have to come to terms
1:22:33 with in this new world that we're
1:22:35 entering is
1:22:39 um is
1:22:46 the is our definition of amount of time
1:22:50 put in is is a comparison of value
1:22:56 right if you put in 20 hours that that's
1:22:58 more valuable than if you put in 20
1:23:00 minutes and I think we're going to we're
1:23:02 going
1:23:03 to be confronted again and again and
1:23:06 again with that as these tools get
1:23:08 better and better and better it doesn't
1:23:11 mean that our creative point of view
1:23:15 isn't valuable and it doesn't mean that
1:23:17 the the work is any less valuable that
1:23:19 we put in the world it just means how we
1:23:21 got there is very very different and I
1:23:23 think it's something that everyone's
1:23:24 going to have to
1:23:25 come to their own conclusion about and
1:23:27 some artists may choose to say Hey [ __ ]
1:23:30 it that's not art that's not you know
1:23:32 I'm for me that's not going to be art
1:23:34 and other artists are going to say sure
1:23:36 it's just you know just like Photoshop
1:23:38 was more efficient than the dark room
1:23:41 this is going to be more efficient than
1:23:43 Photoshop um and you know all of those
1:23:48 choices still
1:23:50 exist but it's a it's a really good
1:23:53 conversation like it's a really fast
1:23:54 fascinating
1:23:59 conversation but here's here's
1:24:02 my here here's why I feel this way
1:24:06 like I still get like I get like a
1:24:09 killer endorphin rush
1:24:13 from like like for
1:24:16 me
1:24:18 this let's see
1:24:28 this station with the steampunk
1:24:34 fish um okay there they go with the
1:24:37 steampunk fish like these really speak
1:24:39 to me there's something about I guess
1:24:41 from 20,000 Leagues Under the
1:24:43 Sea that there's a nostalgic hit for me
1:24:47 on
1:24:47 these and I also like organic biological
1:24:51 things and like fish are super cool and
1:24:54 so the there's something about these
1:24:56 that
1:24:57 are they're like in my
1:25:00 aesthetic now do I have the talent to be
1:25:03 able to generate any of these no but
1:25:05 like I can curate them I can look at
1:25:07 these and go you know oh that one's
1:25:10 really cool that one's not symmetrical
1:25:12 enough and it's kind of weird that one
1:25:13 seems like everything I've ever seen
1:25:15 before ooh that's actually kind of
1:25:16 interesting right this is somewhere
1:25:19 between an insect and a devil child and
1:25:22 a cat and a cricket and and steampunk
1:25:26 Machinery that's kind of cool right
1:25:29 so so I'm Still The One curating this
1:25:32 right and I'm you know I'm the one that
1:25:34 says you
1:25:36 know all of these are successful to some
1:25:40 level in a in an aesthetic that I that
1:25:43 resonates with me someone else might
1:25:45 look at this and go this is cliche
1:25:48 crap but if I take you know this image
1:25:51 of the iron squid and I write some big
1:25:54 story about that and that becomes the
1:25:56 cover of a book and I tell that whole
1:25:58 story does it matter how I got here I
1:26:02 don't think it
1:26:04 does for
1:26:22 me sending love and appreciation for for
1:26:24 you going to talk to the US Senate
1:26:26 committee it was it was the Colorado
1:26:28 senate committee but thank you I
1:26:31 appreciate
1:26:32 that I think I just like the idea of
1:26:35 having more artistic control from my
1:26:37 imagination yeah exactly and and you'll
1:26:39 be able to with this it's just right now

1:26:43 can't take one of your your images that
1:26:45 you prompt and turn it into one of these
1:26:48 things so you know that's that's just I
1:26:52 I I would call that Danielle it's just a

1:27:00 going on with that like maybe there's
1:27:02 some there's maybe there's some
1:27:04 interface that they need to build to be

1:36:36 quickly and then you can take as much
1:36:38 time as you want doing it
1:36:41 like there must be a lot of Science
1:36:44 Fiction with you know little kids and
1:36:45 big monsters cuz a lot of the images
1:36:49 have like the little kid way out of
1:36:52 scale from the the machine
1:36:55 that's cool save

1:37:03 that far from the place where it could
1:37:06 generate this image really quickly and
1:37:08 then you can click on this image it
1:37:10 would segment out the car and then turn
1:37:12 that into a 3D object and then turn turn

1:37:18 3D um or or game asset that actually has
1:37:22 driving physics in it right like we're
1:37:25 not that far from from that being a uh a
1:37:29 reality you know 2 years maybe three
1:37:33 years you can just go oh I want to drive

1:39:34 music it's playing images it's
1:39:36 generating original images so every
1:39:38 image that you see
1:39:41 here is inspired by a starting prompt
1:39:45 and then I think they're slightly
1:39:46 altering
1:39:47 the the prompts and it's generating an
1:39:50 image per second in the shared spaces
1:39:53 called stations so if you go and look at
1:39:57 this same station that I'm looking at
1:39:59 right now we'll actually see the same
1:40:01 images which I think is clever on their
1:40:05 part I feel like they took a a
1:40:08 constraint of not having enough gpus to
1:40:11 do it original for every person and they
1:40:14 turned it into a feature I think it's
1:40:15 actually really
1:40:17 clever this one's very
1:40:20 cool let's let's do a station based on
