6. 0:48the day but I just started going live about a week ago so I'm trying to figure this out I turned 58 yesterday so if I suck at this
7. 0:57that's why because I'm just an old guy I'm a gen xer I ain't no Boomer I know how to use technology but I ain't no [ __ ] Millennial I'm

11. 1:37with what Millennials Millennials are fine that what what happens is the the older people bitched about Millennials not working
12. 1:46like they worked and then the Millennials called them Boomers and said oh oh Boomer or sorry Boomer whatever the hell the Boomer thing was
13. 1:55and and boomers are more like you know World War II kids and and gen xers are sort of in the in the in the between of
14. 2:04the Boomers and the Millennials and no one talked about them so for years it was Millennials and Boomers warring and
15. 2:10at some point someone goes wait a minute what about Gen X why didn't they get picked on so you know thought you were a
16. 2:15cam I'm not a cam I'm real well I could be gpt5 it's just that you know is would this really be the face you synthesize
17. 2:24if you're gonna make this a pre-recorded thing what's wrong with Millennials sorry about that media pipe did I say
18. 2:31media pipe I might have said media pipe what platform can generate realistic pictures like that for a social uh technology called
19. 2:43um dream booth and dream Booth sorry I'm trying to change the focus did it go there it goes um dream Booth allows you to train
20. 2:53stable diffusion on your image so I uploaded like 20 or 30 pictures and then just started telling it to make images
21. 3:02and uh they're all sort of me but not me which gave me this idea to create this thing called Kyle Shannon
22. 3:11dream so if you go to Instagram Kyle Shannon dreams you can see some of these dudes that dude's particularly inspiring
23. 3:17I'll leave him up for a while uh but that that was uh stable diffusion you can also now with mid Journey you
24. 3:25could upload an image and and modify it so I think you can do this this kind of one you know one image will will
25. 3:33generate another image in a different style so there's lots of different things you can do but these were all that unstable
26. 3:39diffusion all right oh okay Boomer that was the thing someone just put something in there um all right what is the best AI
27. 3:48resource to generate video shorts and voice so it depends on the video shorts you want to do if you want to do video to
28. 3:57video there's a there's a tech or a company called runwayml and they've got gen 1 and Gen 2 so gen 1 you can take a
29. 4:07video and uh like a video of yourself walking down the street and then transform that into like a claymation
30. 4:13dude walking down the street that's gen one and they just released that as an app and then so runwayml gen 1 I think
31. 4:22is an app I think it's the runway ml app that you use and then Gen 2 is text to video I think you have to still do that
32. 4:30on their Discord server if you want to do things like um synthesized voice where you take a still image like you know you can take a still
33. 4:40image like this old dude and um animate him to say something excuse me say something that there's a site called did D Dash id.com
34. 4:59and it looks like this let me log in here for a second eh log in with my Google single sign-on
35. 5:18all right so there's a bunch of videos that I've made so if you say create video um what you do here is you pick one of
36. 5:25these images like that image there is an image that Leah fasten who's a photographer she's the co-host with me
37. 5:31for the AI Salon which by the way the next AI salon is tomorrow night if you're interested in joining the salon go to a link in my
38. 5:39bio there's a link tree there so there's a link to the salon it's just a community of people geeking out about AI
39. 5:44so anyway she made me that so that's one I've also got this image that I uploaded that's that's uh the cyborg me that's
40. 5:52kind of the Genesis image of of uh Kyle Shannon dreams and then they have all these other people that are just their
41. 5:58their pre-built characters so one way you can do this is you can pick a synthesized voice and you can type something in
42. 6:09so I know it's hard to see this stuff but at the bottom here are the different voices so the first thing is what language do you wanna
43. 6:16do so you can do you know different languages or you can do different accents um and then you can um let's see I guess I have to pick a
44. 6:27language first hold please we'll do Australian English and then there's a net Carly Elise we'll do it dude we'll do
45. 6:40Duncan and then we'll let's go to um we're gonna go to chat GPT
46. 6:54if you've never been to chat GPT it's at um chat.openai.com and we'll say um right a short monologue
47. 7:09uh from and out of work actor about eating mac and cheese out of work actor leadings against the
48. 7:24kitchen counter holding a back of a box of mac and cheese ah mac and cheese the ultimate comfort food all right so I'll
49. 7:30just grab that little paragraph there so we'll go back to dash ID and we'll paste um that little monologue into the window
50. 7:41up there and then you say generate video in this upper right hand corner and it's going to make that dude say
51. 7:49that monologue in Italian or in us with an Australian accent and so there's all the other videos that I've made I'll play one of the other
52. 7:58ones there but it'll do it pretty quickly it's like four or five seconds and then it will pop up a little window and we'll say generate
53. 8:08all right 10 seconds this is one of those things oh it's going to be so cool wait till you see it and then you know
54. 8:14the person's just sitting there mac and cheese the ultimate comfort food for our struggling actors think about this humble dish that fills
55. 8:22the emptiness within me every time I go without an audition or Worse face another rejection there's a certain Solace a warmth that
56. 8:31emanates from every gooey golden fork for as if it's whispering to me you'll get through this I had to be serious and evil are these
57. 8:43the Rob robots that are gonna kill us all I don't think so they might but anyway that's how you make those

69. 10:36their concerns about chat GPT are warranted what they're basically saying is they want they want the studios to agree not to use
70. 10:45chat apt to replace them right which which I understand and at some point some it's gonna be film Executives gonna say
71. 10:53oh yeah I can I can just have chat like I always wanted to be a writer and but I suck and I'm not going to admit that so
72. 11:00I'll just use it and produce my own movie so I think that's going to happen at some point um I don't think that's
73. 11:05going to be the norm I also think that this idea that chat GPT is kind of this separate thing from writing is
74. 11:13going to disappear relatively quickly like it's happening in universities right now and and higher uh you know
75. 11:19high school and things like that even Junior High where you know there's kind of this battle of is you know is chat
76. 11:26TPT cheating and we're going to have gbt detectors and all that stuff the deal is this these large language models like
77. 11:33chat EPT are going to be everywhere they're going to be ubiquitous we're in a really finite window right now where
78. 11:39chat GPT feels like it's this thing off to the side and then the rest of the world is over here it's going to do this really really quick
79. 11:46Microsoft's going to roll it into office 365. Google's going to roll it into Google Docs I would be dramatically
80. 11:52surprised if every screenwriting software didn't rule GPT like generation tools within it the writing process when
81. 11:59you use Chachi BT and when you do generative images and things like that is much more collaborative Than People
82. 12:05realize it's not like write me a screenplay and out comes you know Star Wars um it's very iterative it's like I have
83. 12:15an idea here or like I one example I did I took an incomplete screenplay I had I copied and pasted in the first two
84. 12:22scenes of the screenplay the and and the bulk of the outline but it was an incomplete outline it was an ADD
85. 12:28like it was just an aborted attempt to the screenplay um and so I just started sort of co-writing with chat EBT where I said
86. 12:38um finish the outline for me and it finished the outline and it wasn't bad and then I said rewrite the outline as a
87. 12:43comedy and it did that and then I said um write scene three for me so I had written scenes one and scenes two and it
88. 12:51wrote Scene Three and it kind of sucked pretty bad and then I said no write Scene Three where this character does
89. 12:57this and that character does that and then it got better and then I told it explicitly write it in the style of
90. 13:03scenes one and scenes two and then it got better but it was it was a lot of back and forth so I think we're going to
91. 13:10see is writers are going to start incorporating these tools into their existing process so I think long term
92. 13:17you know that I understand the sentiment of that particular part of the strike um I just don't think that's how things
93. 13:24are ultimately going to play out um so I don't know I don't know I like it's a bummer I hate strikes and but I
94. 13:30understand why they're there and I think they're I think it's important that people get paid but I also think we're
95. 13:36entering a an era of infinite content creation instantly and I think the economic Foundation of nearly everything
96. 13:49is going to transform pretty dramatically is AI generated art legal to use if you use things like so so it's
97. 13:57a very very gray area whether or not you can copyright it the copyright office has put out guidance that says you can
98. 14:03sort of copyright it but not really where we think sort of but not sure um some other government agencies put
99. 14:11out some really vague stuff so so it's it's very very unclear right now um things like mid-journing and stable
100. 14:18diffusion were absolutely trained on you know lots and lots of images some of which are copyrighted um one of the misconceptions about the
101. 14:27way those tools work is is that people think that they're copying and pasting elements of copywritten work and pasting
102. 14:34that together like doing sort of montages or collages that's not how they work it's it really is this kind of
103. 14:41deeper mathematical thing every image that's generated is a true um original generated piece of art um I happen to think it's art because
104. 14:51it's intentional someone typed in a prompt to get it and they're generating it but if you used another artist's name
105. 14:58to get a particular style then it gets a little more gray and wonky um so if you're using things like mid-journey stable diffusion a lot of
106. 15:06corporate policy right now is you can't use those like I know some people at Deloitte digital um they're not allowed to use AI
107. 15:14generated stuff within on their work computers um the the the one creative director that I know um actually generates images
108. 15:24on his personal machine on the weekends to use in concept boards during the week but um a good buddy of mine um is pretty
109. 15:35high up over there and he met with the president of adobe last week and adobe's got this thing called Firefly that was
110. 15:42trained on open source and Adobe stock images which they own all the rights to so Adobe is trying to make it safe to
111. 15:49use AI art commercially and so I think right now in its beta stage you can't you can't use it commercially it Flags
112. 15:57everything with with Adobe Firefly but they're going to make it safe and there's going to be lots of deals that
113. 16:03are cut that are going to make it safe but right now it's a little it's a little weird so if you work for a
114. 16:08conservative corporate organization I would say just follow Adobe Firefly if you work for a little startup I'd say
115. 16:15just use use it I wouldn't worry too much about copywriting any anything you generate right now because it's just
116. 16:21it's just all over the place and and like one safety thing would be rather than using a specific artist name try to
117. 16:28prompt the AI to generate something like that without using their name that might be a way to do it um feel free to ask me questions about
118. 16:37AI you can subscribe to my lives um by I don't know how you do that but I did turn it on Tick Tock told me I
119. 16:46could turn on that feature and I did so if you want to subscribe to these I think you get notified when I go live
120. 16:50which why wouldn't you want to spend time with me sitting in my home office waxing poetic about crap um let's get another image up here hold
121. 17:05today let's see what's fun oh that one's disturbing there we go that'll confuse people when they come in
122. 17:15the hell is this guy doing what's with the eye you weirdo is he Gen X all right it's like cell phones the
123. 17:24cameras are so good everybody thinks they're a photographer it's slightly different than that I mean it is that and there's kind of a
124. 17:31sameness to cell photography where everyone uses the the the the filters they're going to be people that are really good at generative Ai
125. 17:39and people that are not really good at generative AI but generative AI is so good that if you have an idea for an image
126. 17:50um and and you're kind of intentionally trying to do something you can get there with this stuff so I think it's it I
127. 17:55think it's of a slightly I think it's slightly more elevated than everyone has a camera in their pocket if it could be fast wait it could be
128. 18:05that fast though it just takes training I'm not quite sure if that's in reference to I was thinking about offering
129. 18:11these writers a free chat GPT coaching service I mean do that like like if if anyone is a writer on here that is not actively
130. 18:21diving deep into learning chat EBT I think you're doing yourself a disservice I think writers at least short term are going to be
131. 18:29better at wrangling results out of these generative AI models than non-writers so if you're not a writer diving into this
132. 18:37you should do it so Ron if you know people that are are in that you know screw that I'm never going to use one of
133. 18:42them damn robots you know it can't write like a human um get them to start writing with this stuff and using it as a collaborator and
134. 18:51and their tune will likely change um because it's it's it's not like the thing about these generative large language models is it's not like
135. 19:03it's not like a Google search where you're just saying write me a screenplay and it comes out like you're really
136. 19:08doing this back and forth I know I said that before but like as a writer like I find it incredibly empowering to to collaborate with these
137. 19:17tools um after a few prompts it got very nice story lines in one morning yeah yeah if you like seriously like like if if you
138. 19:26do two or three back and forth with chat GPT that's good if you do two or three hours going back and forth with it you
139. 19:32can get to some remarkable stuff um we need to learn the prompts yeah there are lots of prompts I've I've been
140. 19:39sharing this on my lives because I think this is a big mystery if you go to prompts.chat prompts sorry prompts dot chat
141. 19:52that will take you to awesome chat GPT prompts the first half of this document kind of explains to you about prompting
142. 19:59and how they work and it gives you some resources and ebooks and training and then the the whole rest of this document are all of these
143. 20:08um prompts that that essentially give context to chat gbt to act like a certain kind of partner right so this
144. 20:17one says act as an Advertiser this one says act as a Storyteller this one says act as a football commentator act as a
145. 20:23stand-up comedian it's interestingly not all that great at writing jokes uh but gpt4 is better than GPT 3.5 was as you would hope
146. 20:34um act as a composer act as a debater act as a screenwriter act as a therapist act as a act you know all these different things and
147. 20:44it like it felt counter-intuitive to me that you had to kind of tell it who to be but but the more you understand about
148. 20:53how these models actually work when you tell it who to be you're kind of limiting the semantic cloud of words
149. 21:02um so if you tell it to be Shakespeare it will it will only answer in iambic pentameter with big fancy words like
150. 21:10Shakespeare so it kind of puts the model into a particular semantic space where your interactions with it you know all
151. 21:17live within that universe so if you wanted to if you want to ask it questions about quantum mechanics tell
152. 21:23it to act as you know Stephen Hawking you know and and you know whatever other you know physicist that you respect and
153. 21:30it will get better and better and better um other things you can do um one of the one of the recent hacks
154. 21:38with prompting prompting which I think is is really interesting is um reflect on this so you can have it give you an
155. 21:45answer and then you say reflect on your answer you know critique yourself and tell me what you don't like about it
156. 21:52what how could this be better and it will tell you how it would be better then you're like well make it better like that and it will
157. 21:58um you can also just tell it what you gave me is crap and here's why it's crap and I want it to be better and it will
158. 22:03make it better all right um seems like the answer to losing jobs is something that would look like Socialism or com
159. 22:12communism well I I mean if if you just go if if you just go to a reduction reductionistic view of how things are going to play out like I
160. 22:23think one of the one of the fears is that the robots are going to take our jobs and then humans just sit around
161. 22:27going well damn that sucks what am I gonna do now we're humans we're gonna figure something out and the other thing that's
162. 22:36going to happen is these tools are so powerful and transformative that the initial disruption in jobs is going to
163. 22:43shift into oh here's a whole bunch of other jobs um I think if you just sit around and wait for this [ __ ] to knock you off your
164. 22:52seat it will and then if you just sit there and do nothing then it's gonna suck and I think that there's going to
165. 22:58be some percentage of people that happens to and it's gonna suck really bad for a while and I think that's where you know
166. 23:05for the first time I understand why Andrew Yang was talking about Universal basic income which I assume which is
167. 23:12what you're bitching about like you know people should own their own damn money earn their own damn money um
168. 23:17I think some of the disruption is going to come really quickly and really swiftly in certain industries it's just
169. 23:22going to decimate them short term so I actually understand how that could be abridging mechanism to a new future where new jobs are created
170. 23:33um but it's going to be painful and it's again I I think we're way more complicated than just reducing everything to socialism sucks and you
171. 23:41know everyone should lift themselves up by the boot heels we're more complicated than that more nuanced in fact it's one
172. 23:47of the things that's really interesting about Chach EBT is they just did a study where they had patients interact
173. 23:55virtually with real doctors and with chat GPT as doctors patience universally preferred chat GPT not only
174. 24:04because they thought the answers were better but they were more empathetic chatgpt when when you ask it really
175. 24:10polarizing political questions actually gives you nuanced answers which we're not in a society that does anything
176. 24:16resembling Nuance when it comes to politics so um I actually think that these tools might be able to guide us to
177. 24:24suck less as humans because right now we suck pretty bad am I bitter yeah I am tonight's open source swallowing the market stuff
178. 24:37in the no moat leaked Google oh thoughts on open source swallowing the markets yeah so I'll tell you that in a second
179. 24:45hang on I need more water I'm a little thirsty um Okay so there was a leaked memo let's see Google
180. 25:01Google look up Google um no moat like Castle moat Google we have no moat and it takes you to a semi-analysis.com site and Google
181. 25:18locally on our phone meaning you don't have to have an internet connection you could be in the middle of the Wilderness
182. 25:23and look up you know emergency safety information right on your phone um so I think what it means for us is
183. 25:30that large language models are going to become a ubiquitous they're going to become as ubiquitous as the internet
184. 25:35just fabric of the internet will have large language models embedded in it that's kind of how I see it playing out
185. 25:44I'm thinking about a way of forming an AI music band to play out live I think that's actually kind of brilliant I
186. 25:52think that um if you go to sound draw um dot IO I think it is um that's a tool that is it's kind of like Loop music like GarageBand is is
187. 26:04kind of the the genre of music it creates but it it creates music very very quickly and then there's there's a
188. 26:11bunch of other ones so I would think if you um s-o-u-n no that's not it it's is it hang on sorry about this foreign

190. 26:40um this is one and you just say create music and then you pick a genre and it just funny and weird fear euphoric hopeful
191. 26:50um select a genre acoustic beats Funk so let's grab funk did I click it I might have to sign in I don't know it says creating music
192. 27:05and then you know now like here's all these songs it's like it generated 20 songs like that right so I can see using tools like this
193. 27:14to generate songs you could use um um chat EBT to generate lyrics and then yeah learn them and go I I think one of
194. 27:22the things if you look at the the there was a Drake and the weekend song where they synthesized their voices and used
195. 27:29AI to con compose the music and then it essentially became a hit on on um on the on the streaming services and
196. 27:38then they they subsequently took them down um but I think you're going to start we're entering a world where fan
197. 27:44generated art is going to be as good or better than the original artists and there's going to be they're gonna be all
198. 27:50sorts of lawsuits about it uh but I think it's really really interesting and um um what's her name uh Grimes Elon musk's
199. 27:59ex-girlfriend baby mama maybe had babies with him um she just said synthesize my voice do anything you want with my music
200. 28:05synthesize my voice my likeness uh just give me half so she's saying to her fan base you know go figure this crap out and if you make
201. 28:13something interesting and it's a hit um give it to me or you know give me half which I think is a brilliant move
202. 28:20let's find another dude oh we'll do a little Joker version of me that's disturbing that'll be good for someone

206. 28:54must be considered and everything's going to change like like economic rights and compensation and attribution must be considered but if
207. 29:04anyone thinks that it's gonna it's gonna be the way it is right now um they're they're being very naive everything's going to change
208. 29:13and not just in the creative arts and rights and things like that how do you make chat GPT to interact to tabs open on Chrome for example um
209. 29:26so there are some extensions that you can get and use there's so many of them I've completely lost track I stopped
210. 29:33trying to deal with them you can also download the edge browser so in the edge browser in the upper right hand corner
211. 29:38you can't see in the upper right corner there but if you click on that it opens a side drawer that's a chat window that
212. 29:45is aware of the window to the left my experiences is that it's not always aware of the window to the left but in
213. 29:51theory you can ask Chachi BT you know Bing's chat gbt questions about the web thing so there's there's some ways to do
214. 29:58that I just haven't found I don't have a need to do that all the time so I don't have good answers for that one
215. 30:04unfortunately but I would say check extensions and download the edge browser and see if that does it for you
