13. 2:42opportunity right now you just got to pay attention you just got to pay attention so what we do here a little bit about my
14. 2:49background I'm an entrepreneur many time entrepreneur officially unhirable at this point I would say
15. 2:58and and uh I'm the co-founder and CEO of storyvine and I'm the uh founder of a community uh here in Denver and online
16. 3:07called the AI salon and then I host this what else do I do I don't know do a bunch of [ __ ] in the mid90s uh I started
17. 3:15an one of the early digital agencies and I say that because in the in uh in 1994 I had a big Epiphany about the worldwide
18. 3:23web about holy crap this changes everything and I didn't think there'd be another time in my life where that
19. 3:29happened again and it did with this chat GPT stuff with the the generative Ai and so all of this this Channel and my salon
20. 3:36and you know have been around pretty much since the beginning of that and that's what we talk about so if

22. 3:49about it uh if if you're not imaginative just shut your mouth the Irregulars will they will take you down those are the

25. 4:12three weeks is there's been a lot more people in here instead of asking questions they've been sharing
26. 4:18experiences like hey I started talking about this at work and all of a sudden I got invited into a meeting and now I'm
27. 4:24going to go meet with the big boss things like that so that's uh that's pretty exciting that's pretty cool stuff
28. 4:31so um let's let's let's get started this way as well um if you are brand spanking new to this generative AI stuff and
29. 4:40you're annoyed by people like me and others that are like have you tried chat gbt it's amazing you should try chat gbt
30. 4:49if you're really annoyed with those people I agree we're [ __ ] annoying I'm pathologically annoying at this
31. 4:55point like I don't know I honestly don't know how people in my life can stand me but I'm not going to [ __ ] stop

45. 6:44the Mercury Lounge here in Denver and uh I said something about doing a bunch in AI on AI and he goes he goes you're on Tik talk a
46. 6:54lot I said yeah I know I've been going live every night he goes I know I watch you so you never [ __ ] know man you never
47. 7:03know um but I appreciate the kind words okay so these four are what I call the adults table these are the four to
48. 7:11really pay attention to they're not going away anytime soon they're going to get more and more and more and more
49. 7:17sophisticated um they are all quite powerful right now they all have their quirks about them um uh you're supposed to talk into phones
50. 7:29know it's like it's like phones are anything but phones these days aren't they it's like I I saw that uh Apple
51. 7:38just added a mode where you can basically just turn your phone into a phone again where it basically just
52. 7:45blocks all the apps and you put like four icons on it it's like phone text you know whatever it was photos and music or something like
53. 7:55that so go to chat. open.com if you have haven't played with it um B that's Google's entry that's going to get
54. 8:02dramatically better in the next month or so cuz they're going to release this new thing called Gemini which is the engine
55. 8:09that sits underneath it Claude um is already remarkable and a and a real competitor to chat GPT um and it's got 100,000 token
56. 8:20context window so again that means 75,000 words so you could take um a 50,000-word novel literally paste it into the prompt and start asking
57. 8:29questions about it I love your knowledge and inspiration but really appreciate your entertainment value thank you Tech
58. 8:35Becky I try to be a little entertaining I try to try to make it not so [ __ ] boring this stuff is you know what's
59. 8:42funny about this Tech stuff is technologists get seduced by the tech and it's really easy to get seduced by the tech but in the end this is
60. 8:57about people and artists and humans self-expressing and these tools are amplifiers of that and and I think it's one of the big
61. 9:08misconceptions about you know it's it's it's really what this channel is about that this channel I mean listen we we
62. 9:16get Pate comes in here and he works at Google on tpus and and Sam Horn who's in here is a a master [ __ ] geek if
63. 9:23you're a Super Geek and you enjoy this [ __ ] great but the you don't have to be that and you don't have to be that with
64. 9:29chat GPT which is the best I'll get to that in a second um it's a large language model what what's what's happening the shift that
65. 9:40we're in the middle of right now is all of the Decades of work that these scientists and researchers and Engineers have
66. 9:50done with large language models with chat GPT and Bard and Claude and Bing and all of them we get to just use our words
67. 10:00just use our words just have our ideas we share our words and and ideas and these things amplify that it's it's
68. 10:08[ __ ] magic Arthur C Clark one of my favorite quotes from Arthur C Clark is any sufficiently advanced technology is
69. 10:16indistinguishable from Magic these things are [ __ ] magic Miss some episodes what's new hey corporate
70. 10:23digital um I'll show you I'll show you what's new we'll we'll go look at chat GPT with do inside it I got access to
71. 10:30DOI inside chat GPT holy [ __ ] is it amazing and it you know it's it makes images well but what's amazing about it is the interaction like
72. 10:41how you interact with it is just magic so anyway I'll show you that so go with these the question about which one's
73. 10:49best if if you were just going to use one the the only one I would recommend right now is chat GPT chat.
74. 10:57open.com and I personally would pay the 20 bucks I pay the 20 bucks for their plus model because the 20 bucks gives you access to
75. 11:06gp4 and even though Bing is built on top of gp4 it is not the same as open AI chat GPT so you get gp4 you get browse
76. 11:17with Bing so it's re they reconnected it to the Internet so it's now connected to the internet again you get Advanced Data
77. 11:23analysis which is [ __ ] remarkable you get plugins which are you know hit or but there's some really cool ones uh and
78. 11:31you and you also are going to get you may or may not have it now do which is the image generation within this thing
79. 11:39it'll also have the ability to read images and then at some point here you'll be able to talk to it and listen to it I mean this thing is
80. 11:47getting really really powerful Claude is apparent or Bard is apparently going to do that um Claude just got $4 billion from Amazon and if
81. 11:57you want to do long documents or document analysis claude's really good um Bing is on this list because they
82. 12:05have Dolly 3 but the their uh safety guard rails are real pain in the ass um hello every time I put like a celebrity
83. 12:14reference for AI art it doesn't look like them at all yeah I don't know I I mean the the getting one of the one of
84. 12:21the biggest things about these all these generative image things right now is getting predictable results is still way
85. 12:31more art than science so just keep [ __ ] around with it you'll you'll get it um that little thing at the bottom
86. 12:38there prompt. chat that is a just a primer to to teach you how to talk to these things and give you some copy and
87. 12:44paste prompts to start with um the kids table as I like to call it um there's these three things there's there's
88. 12:51perplexity doai in the middle there's Pi at the top and po at the bottom so Pi is designed to be Aver conversational bot
89. 13:00conversational you know chat interface it is horrible if you want to get work done it is [ __ ] brilliant if
90. 13:09you want something to talk to that feels like a human like like a good human who listens and encourages you and talks
91. 13:19with nuance and can explain things and is infinitely patient and infinitely knowledgeable go to the I go get the IOS
92. 13:27app of Pi search for pi personal assistant and and there's a little green telephone icon in the search bar just
93. 13:34hit the telephone icon and start talking to it you'll you'll see it's just it's just [ __ ] weird it's good
94. 13:43weird um perplexity lets you play with meta's llama 2 models Winston llama 2 Winston paging Winston paging Winston llama llama llama
95. 13:57l and I know I don't need to actually call you out on that because you're like a flipping machine with that thing um Can Claude AI do
96. 14:11sop oh what's sop again I forget what sop is what's sop again uh pop it in there I can look it up I don't I don't want to look it up
97. 14:24um I don't know uh seriously Pi pie AI is becoming a friend I know what did I do tonight I met there was a a CEO
98. 14:35tonight she runs a um like an end of life technology thing for people that are in hospice and things like
99. 14:43that and she was talking about how oh people people are like sharing their stories and things like that I'm like oh
100. 14:49you got to try pie and so I I popped it in pie I mean I popped open pie and I said um what did I say said I said
101. 14:59something about I want help preparing because my mother's dying my mother's actually dead but um but I was just
102. 15:04saying that the pie is an example and Pie came back and went no no no no no no no is that true is that really true it
103. 15:12like it totally got like like worked up that I said my mother was dying it was just crazy um yeah so it's pies really
104. 15:22interesting standing standard operating procedure oh um well I don't know what you mean can it do standard operating procedure like
105. 15:31like like can it teach you about it does it know it or or can it be can it be really good at doing doing standard operating
106. 15:41procedure across a series of tasks um all of these models still hallucinate so it may or may not be able to um but
107. 15:52you can certainly take sop kind of documentations and pop it in there you could take a big old you know sop
108. 16:00document pop it in there and then start um interacting with it so um it's it's worth experimenting with that's that's a
109. 16:08a level deeper than I have any knowledge on okay here's another one that's worth screenshotting this is for the pretty
110. 16:15pictures um Dolly 3 is is in bing right now so if you go to Bing the the chat if you go to regular Bing and say make me
111. 16:24an image if you go to Bing SLC create if you use the Bing app those are all dollar 3 and then it's also in chat GPT
112. 16:32and I'll show that in a second here um Mid journey is if you want high quality art mid Journey still the best for for
113. 16:40the art crowd ideogram I don't know that I'm probably going to use again but because of because I have access to G or
114. 16:47Dolly 3 and chat GPT it's just it's just it just hits different um but ideogram is a really simple site it does it does
115. 16:57uh text in images so all of the um those are all do but these are all ideogram so ideogram is doing some
116. 17:07pretty cool stuff right but it like you know like all of them they they don't spell really good learning with two
117. 17:15ends but it but it occasionally gets it right and then these are some of the ones that came out of Dolly 3 out of chat GPT
118. 17:25so how did you get Dolly 3 um retro Punk one night after the live said don't go to bed and I guess he was on um he was on
119. 17:37open ai's Discord and one of the developers of of Dolly 3 um said they were looking for Alpha testers and put a
120. 17:47Google form up and so he said it was a couple of hours old so I thought we missed it but we uh we both filled out
121. 17:54the form and within 10 minutes had access to Dolly 3 and then they shut the form down so I guess they got their Alpha testers
122. 18:06um oh where are we let's see welcome to Chad add um ideogram and then Firefly so listen if you work in a big company or
123. 18:16if you work for a company that cares about osay lawsuits um adobe's image models were not trained on copywritten material so
124. 18:29from a from a intellectual property standpoint it's a safe choice because it's not been trained on copy materials
125. 18:37it's not as good so the the the quality of the image generation within Firefly and within Photoshop generative fill is
126. 18:45generally weak it's generally kind of like Dolly 2 level it's a little better than that I I I suppose it's between
127. 18:52dolly2 and you know stable diffusion 1.5 but it's getting better and it's Adobe they're going to they're going to
128. 19:00do it right and uh the Photoshop generator fill is quite good Pi must be better on iOS because won't Converse on web or SMS
129. 19:11it's so funny I got it I got it into conversation mode once and I haven't been able to do it since I'm wondering
130. 19:18if they killed it on the web pi. let me see if I can figure out how to put it in that mode uh uh uh uh let me close that

140. 20:59all of the [ __ ] that these things know these things like these image generation tools similar to the um to the word
141. 21:06tools like chat GPT they just know a lot they've been trained on a on a ridiculous amount of data um so so those are good um these
142. 21:16are the video ones so video or or other sorts of things um runwayml will do um text to video image to video hey gen does synthesized Bots
143. 21:30like with synthesized voice and animation they also have this remarkable thing called video translate that will
144. 21:38translate your voice into I think it's a dozen other languages and resync your lips and everything really quite
145. 21:46remarkable excuse me um by the way we we um we have a we have a couple of farma clients that want to do something their
146. 21:55their basically legal agreements on privacy are non-existent they they are a very not together company so they got to get
147. 22:02their [ __ ] together um cuz they're going to get eaten alive by any any big companies that want to use them um blockade Labs uh is really
148. 22:14interesting text to 3D worlds and then D- ID is also animated um animated uh like talking faces basically Sher

161. 24:15think what he talks about is actually really important he can go super geeky but he also does these sort of really
162. 24:24high philosophical like what's the future of work look like what what is the fourth industrial re Revolution his
163. 24:32his um his name there for ir. David Shapiro that stands for fourth Industrial Revolution Wicked smart guy if if you are interested in
164. 24:43in the philosophy and and the implications of this [ __ ] um the the first two dudes Ethan mullik is just a
165. 24:55baller Wharton business school professor just putting out killer content and David Shapiro and then Paul ratzer the
166. 25:02marketing AI Institute they have a weekly podcast that if you just want to keep up on what's going on in this world
167. 25:09um they cover it really really well and he's just he's just like a pragmatic thinker like I I tend to resonate with
168. 25:15what he says because he's he's really excited about this stuff he's really bullish on it and then he's like Yep
169. 25:22this is a problem or yep that thing's a piece of [ __ ] like he's he's got a similar sort of you know he looks at the
170. 25:28reality of what's going on he's not too far bought in or not too far you know demonizing it um this is uh this is a workshop that
171. 25:39started Wednesday there's two sessions left I think you can buy individual sessions the next session is uh about
172. 25:46applying AI to work but it kind of Builds on the first session so I don't know if it would be interesting but if

174. 25:58community um so that kicked off that was that was exciting and then the final thing um in this little opening banter

176. 26:16a Discord Community where we can hang out and so a lot of the people that are in here regularly have a little Channel
177. 26:22over there and uh it's a really good group you can ask questions you can make mid-journey images you can share stuff
178. 26:28and uh some good conversations going on so what we're going to do here people what we're going to do what we're going to do what are we

183. 27:25personal assistant right they want it to take action and they just raised $1.3 billion and they're putting like 950
184. 27:32million of that into a 22,000 GPU server Farm to build their own foundational model we are the Irregulars
185. 27:42um so they're they're a real serious player and I'd be curious to know what they have up their sleeves change shirts

192. 28:50good at the conversation stuff if they if they make that autonomous in any way where it's it's able to take action on your
193. 28:58behalf um I think that's what Apple's going to be doing anyway so what was Apple's research budget this year was $
194. 29:0822.4 billion and a lot of the increase in their research budget was for generative AI so they're probably
195. 29:16building the [ __ ] that inflections got going but oh apple pie is too cute lunatick good Lord someone else you know

206. 31:34Claud and then I've got kind of Master prompt that generates all that [ __ ] that's been an interesting experience
207. 31:40getting that stuff to actually work CU this this AI stuff demos amazingly and then when you actually go to do something you're like
208. 31:51H it's like 80% good oh man but why do you ask if I YouTube I I don't know I I barely [ __ ] Tik Tock I mean I do
209. 32:07it a lot but I'm not very good at it I'm getting better I have moderators now thank you irregular who who moderate
210. 32:14here that helps a lot um so I've got I've got a little bit of support but um I'm not a media operation I'm I'm running a company right I'm a
211. 32:26CEO of a company so you know um AI can interact with apps or programs by telling them what they are and where to go and and what to do
212. 32:37oh kenet are you you're asking right now they cannot there there are projects like Lang chain and like Auto GPT and baby
213. 32:48AGI and I don't know there there's another one called open interpreter there's there's a a handful of projects
214. 32:57out there right now that can um take action on your behalf uh my late dog was named Archimedes because he was born on March
215. 33:0614th and because I'm a huge nerd that's awesome Archimedes screw is one of the coolest inventions in all of history water goes uphill so
216. 33:25cool apple pie is up nice I like it apple pie oh the one with the pie on it really good I like it very solid very

219. 34:14right so here we are at chat GPT so I've got chat GPT plus that's the 20 Buck a month you you get that little yellow
220. 34:21button if you pay $20 but what you also get is all this [ __ ] so look at this look how long that list is getting
221. 34:27people how exciting is that so you got default gp4 which is cool they have brought back browse with Bing so let's
222. 34:34just do a quick browse with Bing and I'll do a what are some local sports activities going on in Denver this weekend and it says

224. 35:11the Jets right so it's connected to the internet now so all of that thing where everyone's like it you know it it only
225. 35:18knows up to September 2022 with browse with Bing it doesn't you could also sort of hack this with with plugins before
226. 35:24but browse with Bing is back so that's good um you've also got Advanced Data analysis and plugins but Dolly 3 this is
227. 35:34the one we all want to play with so this this one's really cool so you go into Dolly 3 mode and it's just like normal chat
228. 35:41GPT um but I'll I'll do I'll do something I did this this after I did I did a Tik Tok video on this this is the
229. 35:48the latest video on my channel is is some version of this you're a world famous tattoo artist and graphic designer and I want you to help me
230. 36:02design some exciting new t-shirt lines period I don't have any ideas other than wanting to start making

244. 38:42multiple aspect ratios here and Bing seems to still be um locked down to square images but it's doly 3 and it's actually

282. 45:19about it but what hit me tonight is I think that everyone wants to ex be fully expressed like everyone wants to feel confident
283. 45:33enough to express who they are and what they want and we're all going to have access to these tools in in you know a
284. 45:43relatively short amount of time like over the next 5 years these things are going to get ubiquitous and they're
285. 45:48going to get incredibly powerful and every single person no matter where they are what they're interested in are going
286. 45:56to have tools to express themselves in ways we can't even imagine right now like I that to me feels like I don't know that that that to me
287. 46:07feels like just the deepest most profound thing yeah I mean I I I think that's why I'm here whoa my whole thing is the
288. 46:20importance of Storytelling and why I'm a writer yeah I mean yeah Story vine that's the the whole point of Story vine is is you
289. 46:31know sharing story we we should make it easy for people to share stories and it's not easy to do it well and I think
290. 46:38that's shifting I think with these tools it's not just our story it's it's what we want to put in the world it's
291. 46:46what we want to invent it's what we want to like not everyone is an amazing writer not every Everyone's an amazing
292. 46:56illustrator not everyone's an amazing coder but we're going to be everyone is going to have access to all the tools the democratization of

302. 48:39access to the Talkie Chat GPT yet the chat GPT app doesn't talk for me yet but a combination of um a combination
303. 48:51of um what's it called the system instructions the the custom instructions in chat gbt and the talkie mode you
304. 48:59could write a set of custom instructions Jim where you put it into talkie mode and it interviews your mother and every one of those chats is
305. 49:09captured and and you could just say you know I want you to ask her about you know a single story in her life and once
306. 49:17a day for the next you know 60 days and so every day there's a conversation with her and this chatbot where the chatbot is just interviewing
307. 49:27her pulling this story out people have been asking to see custom instructions please okay custom instructions are are really quite
308. 49:37powerful they're they're a little hard to get your head around but everyone has access to them so I'll even do it in GPT

313. 50:28GPT to act a certain way to act as a certain kind of person and respond in a certain kind of way when people talk to
314. 50:35you so you go to your settings or or you go to your name you click on your name and that's where settings are but then
315. 50:42there's this thing called custom instructions so we go to custom instructions and then right now I've got
316. 50:48them turned off but I'm going to turn them on and I'll read them to you because I I did these I don't know last
317. 50:53night or the night before and I I just like what they do because they do something visual so I'm a creative director that has a
318. 51:01passion for structure and Clarity I can synthesize big Concepts into very simple metaphors that people can understand
319. 51:09right so so that's who chat GPT is going to start acting like now you can get ridiculous with this I I I had a joke
320. 51:16one in here before about um You're A pompous ass that uses words so big that even you don't know what they understand
321. 51:23right and I had it respond in these really comp kind of way so so you can sort of set it up as a personality and
322. 51:29it and it really does work and then you can say um how do you want chat GPT to respond so what I wrote here was when
323. 51:37someone asks a question respond following these rules mirror back what you think you heard answer with a non
324. 51:44obvious innovate Innovative idea to help clarify uh to help clearly answer the question when you answer include a
325. 51:52metaphor that is Visual and will make your IDE idea easy to remember follow your idea with five to seven or five
326. 52:00bullet points of 7 to 10 words to support your idea and finally create a table formatted in markdown I'll explain
327. 52:08that in a second that compares your idea with the traditional way of thinking okay so every time we ask this thing
328. 52:15something it should give us some kind of cool answer and some sort of innovative thing and a metaphor and a table

403. 1:04:09artists he what he tries to do is describe the prompt in such a way so that he can get the look and feel that
404. 1:04:16he wants if it's of a particular artist but he doesn't use the artist's name um I think it's an interesting it's an interesting way to
405. 1:04:24deal with the with the Dilemma of hey these things were trained on lots of people's work but if you're using
406. 1:04:31someone like mcer I know mcer has an estate but he also has you know he he's got so much work out in the world that
407. 1:04:38lots of his images are in these models so it's a shortcut to getting the kind of work you want but even with that the way that chat GPT
408. 1:04:51is working now where it's writing its own own prompts it may call for someone's I I think they've got this the
409. 1:04:58safety guard rails on chat GPT right now or such that I don't think it uses specific artist names I think I think
410. 1:05:05they've done that on purpose but that's a it's a really interesting point and it's something that you can choose to do or not not
411. 1:05:16do that's the AI learning lab blah blah blah blah blah blah can you do prompt variations on an image

438. 1:10:08song how do they do that and then once it creates it then what's their role their role might be to curate and refine
439. 1:10:16and maybe they're using AI for a lot of that but maybe they're using traditional tools for a lot of that so we're ultimately
440. 1:10:24we as humans are ultimately the ones that get to say this goes out to the world that doesn't that's the art the art is not

442. 1:10:47like well I like this one you know I really don't like that one someone else probably loves that one you know this looks somewhere between

444. 1:11:05piece would it be good to put the prompt you used in the alt image tag I'm pretty sure that these images keep that
445. 1:11:18um metadata let me save image as oh no they don't they've got their hashtag they've got they've got a a unique hash of that
446. 1:11:33original image but they don't have like stable diffusion and mid Journey Keep some of the metadata in the image itself
