12:08 writing a Broadway musical,
12:13 which which is, you know, it's a little
12:15 ballsy. It's a little ballsy. You don't
12:18 just write a Broadway musical. You write
12:20 a musical and then you hope maybe the
12:22 Pikipsy Community Theater will put on
12:25 some version of it at some point 10
12:27 years from now. But I'm like I'm north
12:30 of 40. So I'm like [ __ ] it. I'm just
12:32 going to do it. Anyway,
12:34 one of the artifacts that I created for
12:37 for the show like two years ago was I I
12:41 created a notebook LM podcast of the
12:44 show and then I cut in visuals and cut
12:46 in um songs.
12:50 And so the producers actually really
12:52 liked that format. So they wanted a
12:54 little bit shorter and I obviously need
12:56 to update it. We're on our we're on a
12:57 third version of the story. Um and we've
13:00 got a bunch of new songs now. We want it
13:02 to be more song ccentric. So what I'm
13:04 going to try to do tonight is or not
13:07 tonight. What I'm going to try to do
13:08 with the podcast is
13:11 really creative direct notebook LM to
13:14 give me exactly what I want, which I
13:16 don't know if it's possible. So that
13:18 could be something we could explore
13:19 tonight.

15:09 running until 900 p.m. Pacific,
15:12 you're like, "Wait, if I do the math
15:14 right, that's 12 hours." That's just
15:17 Friday.
15:18 So, it's 12 hours of AI education,
15:22 entertainment,
15:24 talks, insights. You're going to love

15:31 it's slightly different. It starts at
15:32 9:00 a.m. and it goes till 900 p.m. on
15:35 Saturday. The difference is it's on
15:37 Saturday. So, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
15:40 Friday, 9:00 am to 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
15:43 And I know you're going, okay, at 20

20:24 get a a corn beef, whatever I was going
20:26 to get. I was going to go spend $38 for
20:28 a sandwich
20:31 and and point at the table where uh Meg
20:33 Ryan did her her fake orgasm in when
20:36 Mary Harry met Sally and go, "All right,
20:38 I that's where they filmed that scene
20:40 like everyone does when they walk in
20:42 there." So, I was going to do that, but
20:45 I didn't have time. But it was early and
20:47 I hadn't had coffee and I'm like, "Okay,
20:49 I'll go to Carnegie Deli." So I Google
20:51 Carnegi Delhi and what I find is like
20:54 five different CargI diners and I'm
20:56 like, "Wait, wasn't Carnegie Deli on
20:58 57th?" And I was like, "Ah, [ __ ] it.
21:00 I'll just go. It's they probably just
21:02 changed the name of it." So, I go to
21:04 57th Street, take the Q train to 57th
21:08 Street, and I I I look and it's the
21:11 corner and it's some shitty diner and
21:12 it's called Carnegi Diner and it's
21:15 there's a line out the door and I'm
21:17 like, oh god. And so I Google it and
21:19 it's like Carnegie Deli closed in 2016.
21:22 I was like, right, [ __ ] So across the
21:26 street was this thing called the
21:28 Brooklyn Diner. So I go over and I'm
21:30 like, [ __ ] it. I just I'm hungry. I'll
21:32 just go get something that's Brooklyn
21:33 Diner and go back to my apartment.
21:37 So, I walk in and I'm like, "Do you have
21:38 a seat for one? I got we got one chair
21:40 left at the bar." And it's like behind
21:42 the soda fountain. There's like enough
21:44 room for a plate about this big. I'm
21:46 squeezed in. I start talking to the guy
21:49 to my left. He's he sells he rents jet
21:52 engine jet airplanes to airline
21:54 companies. He's been doing it for 40
21:56 years. He was not a nice human being.
21:58 But for whatever reason, I'm telling him
22:01 about my my musical. I'm like, I'm in
22:03 New York. I'm I'm, you know, I've
22:05 written a musical and I'm meeting with
22:06 producers.
22:08 He could he could not have given less
22:11 shits. He he was drinking a ginonic. He
22:14 was tipping the cooks $100 and he was
22:17 just a douche. So So whatever. So I'm
22:20 telling him about my musical. He's like,
22:22 "Ah, I sell airplanes. I'm really good
22:24 at it." I'm like, "Cool. I gave my wife
22:26 $40 million. I'm like, "Hey, we only
22:27 need $20 million for a musical."
22:34 So,
22:36 so, so there's this this skinny old dude
22:41 at the end of the, you know, around the
22:43 corner of the bar and he, you know, he's
22:45 eavesdropping cuz like we're all [ __ ]
22:47 packed in. You can't not hear anyone.
22:49 And he and he looks at me and he goes,
22:52 "It looks like we're in the same
22:53 business, son."
22:57 And I said I said, "What business is
22:59 that?" And he goes, "You wrote a
23:01 musical." I'm a I write musicals. And uh
23:05 turns out the guy's name was my Yellen,
23:07 and he's a Tony Award-winning lyricist
23:10 and composer. Um and we just had we had
23:14 a grand old talk. We talked for 10 or 15
23:16 minutes and he was like, "Sounds great."
23:18 You know, great story. Um, I'll help you
23:21 in any way I can. And it was just a
23:23 really cool New York moment. So, you
23:26 just never know in New York who you're
23:27 going to run into.
23:30 Oh, man. Half an airplane. Yeah. The
23:34 airplane guy was a trip. Oh, so not only
23:36 did the airplane guy, you know, was
23:38 drinking gin and tonics at 9:30 in the
23:40 morning and, you know, tipping everyone
23:42 how much he was tipping them like like
23:44 the the cook $100. The waiter who got
23:47 his drink wrong six times gave him $100
23:50 and then he he walked out on his tab. He
23:52 didn't pay his tab.
23:55 They're like, "Did that guy pay?" I
23:58 don't know. He's your customer.
24:01 We We assume he did, but he didn't. He
24:04 stiffed him.
24:07 Oh man, did he give you at least 10
24:09 million though? Not yet. I didn't get
24:11 his name. He wouldn't give me his name,
24:12 but he took my card. The the airplane
24:14 dude. Listen, man. If he gives me $20
24:16 million, if he gives me $10 million for
24:18 my show, he is no longer a douchebag. He
24:21 is a patron of the arts.
24:26 Oh, man. All right. Um, what is this AI
24:30 festivist? Reminds me of the Seinfeld
24:32 Festivus. So what it is Jam Wonder
24:35 AI festivist we we started it last year
24:37 and it like it was really just a
24:38 tongue-in-cheek thing because um last
24:41 year so two years ago Ann Murphy and I
24:46 um decided that
24:49 we weren't busy enough and and there was
24:52 there was a weekend in between the
24:54 holidays and New Year where we weren't
24:57 doing anything. So, we thought, why not
24:58 fill that space with a 24-hour uh custom
25:02 GPT buildathon?
25:04 So, so two years ago, we did GPT for
25:08 good where people from our communities
25:10 came together and built GPTs for
25:12 nonprofits. And so, last year, um it was
25:14 like two weeks, it was like right now.
25:16 It was it it was this day last year. Um
25:20 I forget who reached out to who, but we
25:22 connected two weeks from that same
25:24 weekend and we said, "Should we do
25:26 something?" And we started brainstorming
25:28 and we're kicking things around. We
25:30 thought, "What if we just do like a
25:31 different speaker every hour for 24
25:34 hours?" And then and then an Ann was
25:36 like, "I don't want to do 24 hours in a
25:39 row again. Can we take a break?" I'm
25:40 like, "Okay, how about if we do 12 hours
25:42 on Friday and 12 hours on Saturday?"
25:44 She's like, "Cool."
25:46 And then, so I think I threw out the
25:48 name AI Festivus because it was AI
25:51 Festivus, AI for the rest of us, right?
25:53 Ah, you see um
25:57 so AI for the rest of us. So, so Ann
26:00 reached out to I think she asked 35
26:03 speakers for these 24 slots and she got
26:06 34 said yes. And so we ended up doing
26:08 panels. So this is the second year. So
26:10 it's basically we go find people that we
26:13 think are doing kick-ass stuff in AI and
26:16 we um invite them to come talk and you
26:20 get to get it for free.

31:14 set for for essentially free
31:17 um along with their their purchase and I
31:20 think they got 80% of the company or 80
31:23 80% they basically got the rights to the
31:26 algorithm and and the software and then
31:28 China keeps 20%
31:31 and then they can use the data for
31:33 training AI.
31:35 You know what's crazy? I have well had a
31:38 friend in music part of my business that
31:41 is mad because I use AI. Yeah. Well,
31:43 listen.

31:47 there's a lot of people mad about AI
31:50 right now and
31:53 I have I have deep empathy
31:58 for the fear.
32:00 Um because what's clear is AI is not
32:03 going away and AI is going to change
32:05 things and AI is going to take jobs.
32:09 But but I have less and less sympathy. I
32:11 mean this has been three years now,
32:13 right? It November 30th was the the
32:16 three-year anniversary of Chat GPT which
32:18 I consider the beginning of the modern
32:21 AI era, right? This is chat GPT is the
32:24 first technology that opened up the
32:27 power of AI to non-programmers.
32:29 basically, right? And that's why they
32:32 went from zero to 100 million users in
32:34 six weeks. It was the fastest adoption
32:36 of technology in history. They're now up
32:38 to close to a billion weekly users. I
32:40 think it's 900 million or something like
32:42 that. Um, and in fact, they're so
32:45 powerful. Check this out. This is
32:47 insane. This is [ __ ] bonkers.
32:50 So, Disney is famous famous for they
32:55 will sue a [ __ ] five-year-old. If a
32:57 5-year-old draws Mickey Mouse and makes
32:59 a YouTube video out of it, Disney will
33:02 sue the [ __ ] out of them. They are
33:04 famous for protecting their IP.
33:07 Yesterday, they announced a deal with
33:09 Open AI where in the Sora app, we're
33:13 going to be able to generate videos
33:16 using Disney IP, right? And you're like,
33:19 "Holy [ __ ] that's a big deal." How much
33:21 did Open AI pay them to be able to
33:25 generate Disney characters and like the
33:27 Marvel universe and all that [ __ ] How
33:30 much did Open AI pay for that?
33:33 Disney
33:35 paid Open AI a billion dollars to have
33:39 access to the audience.
33:44 And so what's going to if you play out
33:47 where this is headed right now, it's
33:49 just going to look like video. But in
33:51 2026, what we're going to start to see
33:53 is these video models are going to
33:55 evolve into world models. And so not
33:59 only will you create a video with people
34:02 in the world, you'll be able to enter
34:04 the world.
34:06 So imagine
34:08 Sora goes from being an annoying Tik Tok
34:10 AI video app to it becomes an entry into
34:15 any world you can imagine and then you
34:17 can populate those worlds with all of
34:19 the Disney characters, right? And so
34:21 this is going to be the first in a
34:22 series of these deals because because
34:25 Disney went first, everyone else is
34:26 going to follow and they, you know,
34:27 they'll follow in different places.
34:29 Everyone's going to try to do this. Um,
34:33 but Disney's going to own all of the
34:37 content that's generated. They're going
34:38 to own the worlds. They're going to own
34:40 the IP. They're going to own the
34:41 stories. So, their customers are going
34:44 to be generating new intellectual
34:47 property for them. It's It's bonkers.

46:59 saying is I don't have regular use cases
47:03 where I need to to use a large language
47:06 model to do like physics level problem
47:10 solving or or like really high-end
47:14 programming tasks. Where these where the
47:17 models are improving is at the upper end
47:19 of the range. The range where where it's
47:21 the most complicated is where they're
47:23 getting dramatically better. What I tend
47:26 to use models for is in the kind of
47:28 lower 40% of its capabilities. Not that
47:31 I use the I I feel like I do that 40%
47:34 really well, but I'm like in the bottom
47:38 40% of the capability. I'm not doing the
47:40 high-end stuff. I don't really have
47:42 interest in it. I'm not interested in
47:44 doing it just for its own sake. Um
47:49 and and that's where the big changes are
47:50 happening. So, um, what I am kind of
47:54 waiting for like like the thing the
47:55 thing where it will make a difference
47:57 for me because all of the frontier
47:59 companies right now
48:01 are racing to basically pin all of the
48:05 um the benchmark tests at 100%. Right?
48:08 they're all getting up in the 90s and
48:09 they they make new benchmarks and then
48:11 they get up to 70s and
48:14 so they're all they're all re you know
48:16 reaching to to basically saturate those
48:18 benchmarks at 100% or higher. Um and
48:21 then once they do that then they're
48:25 going to come back down and start making
48:27 the models hallucinate less and be more
48:31 autonomous. Like autonomous agents are
48:33 going to go do work for you and it's
48:34 going to be really good. So, like what
48:37 I'm waiting for is is for them to
48:39 basically come back down the the giant
48:41 staircase and fix the [ __ ] that we all
48:44 use that that causes us to be angry all
48:48 the time.
