>> Good evening, good people. Welcome to the AI Learning Lab Live pre-show. So, tonight is the first night
0:57
we are taking the AI Learning Lab inside the AI Salon. I'm super excited about it. Um that happens at 7:30 Mountain time, [music]
1:06
so 9:30 Eastern time. [singing] And uh >> [music] >> So, we're going to be out here on the socials for the 20 minutes before.
1:17
It's going to happen Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, we'll be going live inside the AI Salon. If you've never been in the AI Salon, go to
1:23
community.thesalon.ai. And you will find all sorts of cool, interesting people in there. And you will also find the AI Learning
1:35
Lab. And tonight, we're going to be talking about Let me get things set up here. Tonight, we're going to be talking about
1:48
the battle between Anthropic and OpenAI. Um it's kind of we're in a we're in in very a fascinating moment right now.
1:58
There's all sorts of weird stuff happening. And if you'd have asked me 3 weeks ago was OpenAI going to be okay? I'd have
2:11
told you, "Ah, I don't know. Everyone seems to be running over to Anthropic cuz they got their big Opus model and everyone's happy with it."
2:20
>> [music] [music] >> And how things change. >> [music]
2:39
>> So, that's going to happen over there. Um you know, I'll also be talking about um >> [sighs and gasps]
2:50
>> some some some news happening, some things going on in the news that I think are kind of interesting. Um
2:59
some are kind of scary, but like not scary like the robots are going to kill us, but scary like I feel like we're entering
3:09
feel like we're entering an era where the government might start talking about we can't have access to the fancy AI
3:16
models cuz they're too powerful for us. >> [music] >> The The White House proposed that today. So, we'll be talking about that. >> [music]
3:28
>> I just saw a thing about a a rumor about Elon Musk wanting to uh potentially acquire the now defunct Spirit Airlines, which has got some
3:38
really interesting things on it. Uh let's see. The wait The sun is still up and we still see you. I know. So,
3:45
here's the deal. So, I'm going going live at 7:10. So, the way this is going to work So, the new format I'm excited
3:52
about the new format. The new format is I'm going to do the pre-shows out on the socials. Oh, here's the thing.
3:59
If you're thinking like, how do where where is this inside the AI Salon? So, if you're on X or if you're on TikTok,
4:06
go to my profile and click on the link there. That'll take you straight in. If you're on LinkedIn or if you're on
4:12
YouTube, in the description of what I'm doing right now is the link to where the live's going to be at 7:30. So, that's
4:19
15 minutes from now, I'll be going live inside the AI Salon. If you want to get a head start and go check out the AI Salon, it's free.
4:27
Um just head over to community.thesalon.ai and we'll do it. I switched my ChatGPT from instant to thinking.
4:36
It's way better, I think. Yeah, that well, I mean that's So, so this is one of the things I'm going to talk about tonight is
4:48
we're kind of living in in a a transitional era where AI models have gotten really complicated. Just just to be able to
4:59
understand what they can do and how you configure them. Um if you're just wanting to write a recipe for mom or like a you know, write a poem
5:11
or you know, work on a play, you probably don't need the deep thinking. Um but if you turn off the deep thinking
5:19
and something you're working on requires it, then you you're kind of like this model kind of sucks. And so, we're in this we're in this
5:26
place where we're still having to figure this stuff out, but the stuff is getting more and more and more complicated.
5:33
We're not going to be in this era for long. Uh and and we'll talk about that. So, so that's that's over in the in the AI
5:41
Salon when we'll go live. So, this is just a pre-show. So, welcome. We've got Champy here. Champy hurt his his leg
5:48
really bad last week when I was at Social Media Marketing World. Champy went out he we got a little fence
5:56
and he patrols and he yanked his knee and he was down for like 3 days like shaking, quivering, not good, right Champy?
6:07
And now he's doing better. [music] We took him to the doctor today today took him to the doctor to the vet today. >> [music]
6:19
>> You want to sing Champy? >> [music] >> So, here's a thing. If you're a regular
6:34
here when we when we head over [music] to the salon my request is come along. I know things are changing. Um
6:44
we're going to be we're going to be um doing this for a bit. And so, my request would be come over to the salon and
6:52
as we start to figure things out, you know, do what you guys are really good at. Help others, you know, figure things
6:58
out as we start to figure it out. One of the things we're going to be doing so so a couple of things. One is
7:05
last weekend I talked about you know, the the uh this sort of being an experiment things like that. It's not really true. We have been
7:15
talking about this for a long long time and I'm going to talk when we go over there I'm going to talk about um why
7:21
we're making this move. But, also Andy and Brandon have spent the past month really figuring out all of the different
7:28
ways that this could go. And so, what we're doing is the thing that we we think has the highest likelihood of
7:35
generating concentration of activity in the salon itself. So, so here's a thing that's happening. As AI has gotten
7:43
crazier and crazier and crazier, people have gotten overwhelmed with trying to keep up with it. They've gotten lost about, wait, what am I
7:51
supposed to do with this stuff? Including myself. Like, wait, what am I supposed to do? And I think as a result, people are just
7:57
exhausted. They don't necessarily want to go in and talk about tools and things like that. So, part of the part of the
8:03
part of the thing that I'm really passionate about is I think as AI gets more and more capable, we want to
8:09
connect more and we want to communicate more. Um and yet the instinct is to communicate less and to isolate. And I
8:16
think that's that's not great. And so, when we first started the AI Salon, there was all this buzz of activity
8:22
within a single space. And then over the years, it's gotten more and more dissipated. And so, we're we're bringing
8:28
that energy back. I'm going to pour my energy back into the salon and bring in new voices and new people, hopefully.
8:35
Right? So, we'll do these pre-shows to bring people in from the outside. We'll jump in the salon. And then the idea is
8:41
to continue the conversations um in between these meetings. So, the AI Learning Lab is a place to inject some
8:48
energy, answer some questions, have some fun, have some community, and be connected in between these things, right?
8:56
Um ba da ba bam. Present. >> [music] >> Is this the best place to view? Ah, okay, we'll go there. Yeah, so so what
9:04
you're going to want to do if you're on X or if you're on TikTok, go to my profile and click on the link. That'll
9:10
take you straight to the to the live session in the AI Salon. If you're on LinkedIn or YouTube, look in the
9:18
description. There's the link that goes straight in it goes straight to the the page the live page. All right? Um
9:26
yeah, and we're heading over there in 10 minutes. Sounds great. Check the link in in description. >> [music]
9:37
>> Producer Brandon pinned and unpinned a comment. >> [music]
9:52
[music] [music]
10:17
[music] >> There has been something, baby, I've been trying to say. >> [music] >> For ages, it seems. I don't know how. >> [music]
10:32
>> So, it's getting I'm excited to see how this does. There's Champy. Yeah, Champy's coming back. Right, Champy? >> [music]
10:55
[music] [music]
11:13
>> So, I know we're early. If you're If If you're someone who's used to me going [music] going live at 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time,
11:23
that's about 40 minutes from now. Couple of things are happening. So, this is the pre-show for the new AI Learning Lab that's going
11:31
to be live inside the AI Salon, okay? And we're going to go we're going to go live Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30, not 8:00.
11:42
Part of that is [laughter] because having spent a fair amount of time on the East Coast, um starting the show at 10:00 10:00 Eastern time
11:53
has never been fair to anyone [laughter] on the East Coast. It's never been fair. Um and and so so 7:30 was the earliest I could sort of
12:03
get it get it going where I can get home, eat dinner, do all the stuff I need to do, and go live. So I'm going to go live starting at 7:10
12:11
out on the socials to tell people to go check out the AI Salon. And then we'll go live at 7:30 inside
12:17
the AI Salon. The other thing that we're doing which I'm really excited about, so it's going to be Monday, Wednesday,
12:22
Friday, we're actually going to have some structure to this. And if you're if you're if you're a fan of the AI learning lab,
12:29
you know that structure and me have not been kind bedfellows. It's just been all chaos all the time. So what we're going to do is it's not
12:37
going to be a ton of structure, like the experience of each show is not going to be all that different. I'm still going
12:43
to talk about whatever the hell I want to talk about, but we're going to generally theme it. Monday night is going to be we're going
12:50
to pick, you know, a news item or a model or a an idea and primarily focus on that one idea. So tonight what we're
13:00
going to talk about is Open AI versus Anthropic and why there's this back and forth going on and what you should pay
13:05
attention to and what you should be learning and what you should be doing and all that sort of stuff. So so we're
13:10
going to talk about that tonight. I'm going to look at news items that it's that kind of surround that conversation.
13:17
We're in an odd place right now. It's cool, it's exciting, and it's odd. Wednesday nights are going to be tool
13:24
nights. So Wednesdays are going to be we'll do demos, we'll do I don't know, we'll we'll figure I'll figure out what
13:29
is what is something that we can work on and and move things forward on. And then Friday is going to be ask me anything. So, it's
13:38
going to be an AMA night. So, anyone can come with their questions, anyone come with their ideas, and we just have a jam session, right?
13:46
And so, that's that's the that's going to be the shape of these things. They're going to happen inside the AI Salon, and
13:50
then in between the lives, I want to increase a lot of activity. I want to increase activity for the spaces, like the the business space, AI
14:00
for business, the life hacks, AI for all minds, advocacy and policy, the ethics the ethics space, things like that. So,
14:07
I'm going to get things popping inside the Salon. So, that's what we're doing this for. So, we'll be heading over there in [music]
14:14
6 minutes. >> [music]
14:29
[music] >> All right. So, if you are looking to figure out where we're going to be going live, if you're on TikTok or if you're
14:37
on X, go to my profile, click on the link. If you're on LinkedIn or YouTube, go to the description, click on the link. All right? >> [music]
14:53
[music] >> No, I don't think so, Brandon. This is good. And if you don't know what the AI Salon is, it's a community. We're about 4,000
15:04
people of people who are curious about AI, adventurous about AI, trying to figure out what it is, trying to figure out how
15:13
it works, trying to figure out how we can support one another, try to try to figure out how we keep humans at the center of the
15:20
conversation. So, as AI gets stronger and proliferates and does all this stuff, how do we how do we uh how do we manage all that?
15:33
The AI Salon is one of the one of the few AI communities that is not just talking about tools, right? [music] We've got the mastermind where
15:42
members are creating daily practices around how we use AI. We've got the great repurpose, which we're in the middle of a a session right now
15:51
uh >> [music] >> that Andy's delivering that's about decoupling your identity from your work, right? AI's about to
15:59
mess with all of our jobs. Some people are going to lose jobs, some people's jobs are going to change.
16:04
How do you decouple that identity so you can repurpose and figure out who you are? This Wednesday we're going to talk about
16:14
coding and vibe coding. Uh we're going to talk about uh Brandon's been doing a lot of good stuff with lovable, so we're
16:20
going to do some of that stuff. See you over there. Beautiful. So 4 minutes and we'll head over. I'll probably pop
16:29
out of here a little bit. The AI Salon has been the space to share and grow as humans with the tools. Yeah, exactly.
16:38
Humans first. Humans at the center of the conversation. Right? This isn't about prompt strategies. Prompt strategies were fine for the
16:50
first year or two. When AI tools were these discrete things that required a lot of prompting and things like that, we're moving into an
16:56
agentic world where AI's going to go off and do things on its own. It puts a very different burden on us as human beings.
17:05
And it and it creates much different dynamics in the workplace, right? And so so part of what we're going to talk
17:11
about tonight is that. So, if you want to join us in the AI Salon, if you're on X or if you're on TikTok,
17:19
go to my profile, click on the link. If you're on YouTube or if you're on LinkedIn, go to the description, click on the link. All right?
17:28
Producer Brandon is having heading over there right now. There are so many opportunities to learn new stuff in the salon. Love it.
17:36
Silver Fox, you're awesome. You're awesome, awesome, awesome. So, this is the pre-show. Happy pre-show.
17:42
When we head over to the salon, we're going to be live in the salon. So, head over there now and I will be there in a minute and a
17:49
half, okay? Let's see. Zugma. Zugma? I think that's how [music] you say that.
18:06
>> [music] [music]
18:23
[music] >> All right, everybody. I am heading over to the AI Salon. If you're brand new here in the past 30
18:36
seconds, go to community.thesalon.ai or click on the link in LinkedIn or YouTube descriptions or go to my bio in
18:46
TikTok and X and click on the link and we'll head over there. So, I am going to head over there and we are going to kick off the brand new
18:57
AI Learning Lab inside the AI Salon. I will see you there. Mhm. [clears throat]
