1:02 I'm super excited about it. Um that

1:17 It's going to happen Monday, Wednesday,
1:19 and Friday. So, we'll be going live

1:48 the battle between Anthropic and OpenAI.
1:53 Um it's kind of we're in a we're in in
1:55 very a fascinating moment right now.
1:59 There's all sorts of weird stuff
2:00 happening.

2:04 if you'd have asked me
2:07 3 weeks ago
2:09 was OpenAI going to be okay? I'd have
2:12 told you, "Ah, I don't know. Everyone
2:14 seems to be running over to Anthropic
2:17 cuz they got their big Opus model and
2:18 everyone's happy with it."

3:02 scary like the robots are going to kill
3:03 us, but scary like
3:07 I feel like we're entering
3:10 feel like we're entering an era where
3:11 the government might start talking about
3:14 we can't have access to the fancy AI
3:16 models cuz they're too powerful for us.

3:24 So, we'll be talking about that.

3:29 >> I just saw a thing about a a rumor about
3:31 Elon Musk wanting to uh
3:34 potentially acquire the now defunct
3:36 Spirit Airlines, which has got some
3:38 really interesting things on it.
3:41 Uh let's see. The wait The sun is still
3:44 up and we still see you. I know. So,
3:45 here's the deal. So, I'm going going

4:42 So, so this is one of the things I'm
4:44 going to talk about tonight is
4:49 we're kind of living in in a a
4:52 transitional era
4:54 where
4:56 AI models have gotten really
4:57 complicated. Just just to be able to
5:00 understand what they can do
5:02 and how you configure them.
5:05 Um
5:06 if you're just wanting to write a recipe
5:08 for mom or like a you know, write a poem
5:12 or you know, work on a play, you
5:14 probably don't need the deep thinking.
5:17 Um but if you turn off the deep thinking
5:19 and something you're working on requires
5:21 it, then you you're kind of like this
5:23 model kind of sucks.
5:25 And so, we're in this we're in this
5:26 place where we're still having to figure
5:29 this stuff out, but the stuff is getting
5:31 more and more and more complicated.
5:34 We're not going to be in this era for
5:35 long.
5:37 Uh and and we'll talk about that. So,
5:40 so that's that's over in the in the AI
5:42 Salon when we'll go live. So, this is
5:44 just a pre-show. So, welcome. We've got
5:46 Champy here. Champy hurt his his leg
5:49 really bad last week when I was at
5:52 Social Media Marketing World.
5:54 Champy went out he we got a little fence
5:56 and he patrols and he yanked his knee
6:00 and he was down for like 3 days like
6:03 shaking, quivering, not good, right
6:05 Champy?
6:08 And now he's doing better. [music]
6:09 We took him to the doctor today today
6:12 took him to the doctor to the vet today.

6:20 >> You want to sing Champy?
6:22 >> [music]
6:32 >> So, here's a thing. If you're a regular
6:34 here
6:35 when we when we head over [music] to the
6:38 salon my request is come along. I know
6:41 things are changing.
6:43 Um
6:44 we're going to be we're going to be um
6:47 doing this for a bit. And so, my request
6:49 would be come over to the salon and
6:53 as we start to figure things out, you
6:55 know, do what you guys are really good
6:56 at. Help others, you know, figure things
6:58 out as we start to figure it out.
7:01 One of the things we're going to be
7:02 doing so so a couple of things. One is
7:05 last weekend I talked about you know,
7:08 the the uh
7:09 this sort of being an experiment things
7:11 like that. It's not really true.
7:13 We have been
7:16 talking about this for a long long time
7:18 and I'm going to talk when we go over
7:19 there I'm going to talk about um why
7:21 we're making this move. But, also Andy
7:24 and Brandon have spent the past month
7:27 really figuring out all of the different
7:28 ways that this could go. And so, what
7:31 we're doing is the thing that we
7:33 we think has the highest likelihood of
7:35 generating concentration of activity in
7:38 the salon itself. So, so here's a thing
7:41 that's happening. As AI has gotten
7:43 crazier and crazier and crazier,
7:47 people have gotten overwhelmed with
7:49 trying to keep up with it. They've
7:50 gotten lost about, wait, what am I
7:52 supposed to do with this stuff?
7:53 Including myself. Like, wait, what am I
7:55 supposed to do?
7:56 And I think as a result, people are just
7:58 exhausted. They don't necessarily want
7:59 to go in and talk about tools and things
8:01 like that. So, part of the part of the
8:03 part of the thing that I'm really
8:04 passionate about is I think as AI gets
8:08 more and more capable, we want to
8:09 connect more and we want to communicate
8:11 more.
8:12 Um and yet the instinct is to
8:14 communicate less and to isolate. And I
8:16 think that's that's not great. And so,
8:19 when we first started the AI Salon,
8:21 there was all this buzz of activity
8:23 within a single space. And then over the
8:25 years, it's gotten more and more
8:26 dissipated. And so, we're we're bringing
8:29 that energy back. I'm going to pour my
8:30 energy back into the salon and bring in
8:33 new voices and new people, hopefully.
8:35 Right? So, we'll do these pre-shows to
8:37 bring people in from the outside. We'll
8:39 jump in the salon. And then the idea is
8:41 to continue the conversations um in
8:44 between these meetings. So, the AI
8:46 Learning Lab is a place to inject some
8:49 energy, answer some questions, have some
8:51 fun, have some community, and be
8:53 connected in between these things,
8:55 right?

11:39 7:30, not 8:00.
11:42 Part of that is [laughter] because
11:46 having spent a fair amount of time on
11:47 the East Coast, um
11:49 starting the show at 10:00 10:00 Eastern
11:52 time
11:53 has never been fair to anyone [laughter]
11:55 on the East Coast. It's never been fair.
11:58 Um and and so
12:00 so 7:30 was the earliest I could sort of
12:03 get it get it going where I can get
12:05 home, eat dinner, do all the stuff I
12:07 need to do, and go live. So I'm going to
12:09 go live starting at 7:10
12:11 out on the socials to tell people to go
12:14 check out the AI Salon.
12:16 And then we'll go live at 7:30 inside
12:18 the AI Salon. The other thing that we're
12:20 doing which I'm really excited about, so
12:22 it's going to be Monday, Wednesday,
12:23 Friday, we're actually going to have
12:24 some structure to this. And if you're if
12:26 you're
12:27 if you're a fan of the AI learning lab,
12:29 you know that structure and me have not
12:32 been kind bedfellows. It's just been all
12:34 chaos all the time.
12:36 So what we're going to do is it's not
12:38 going to be a ton of structure, like the
12:40 experience of each show is not going to
12:41 be all that different. I'm still going
12:43 to talk about whatever the hell I want
12:45 to talk about, but
12:47 we're going to generally theme it.
12:48 Monday night is going to be we're going
12:51 to pick, you know, a news item or a
12:54 model or a an idea and primarily focus
12:58 on that one idea. So tonight what we're
13:00 going to talk about is Open AI versus
13:02 Anthropic and why there's this back and
13:04 forth going on and what you should pay
13:05 attention to and what you should be
13:07 learning and what you should be doing
13:09 and all that sort of stuff. So so we're
13:10 going to talk about that tonight. I'm
13:12 going to look at news items that it's
13:14 that kind of surround that conversation.
13:17 We're in an odd place right now. It's
13:19 cool, it's exciting, and it's odd.
13:22 Wednesday nights are going to be tool
13:24 nights. So Wednesdays are going to be
13:26 we'll do demos, we'll do I don't know,
13:28 we'll we'll figure I'll figure out what
13:30 is what is something that we can work on
13:32 and and move things forward on.
13:35 And then Friday
13:36 is going to be ask me anything. So, it's
13:39 going to be an AMA night. So, anyone can
13:41 come with their questions, anyone come
13:42 with their ideas,
13:44 and we just have a jam session, right?
13:46 And so, that's that's the that's going
13:48 to be the shape of these things. They're
13:49 going to happen inside the AI Salon, and
13:51 then in between the lives,
13:54 I want to increase a lot of activity. I
13:56 want to increase activity for the
13:57 spaces, like the the business space, AI
14:00 for business, the life hacks, AI for all
14:02 minds, advocacy and policy, the ethics
14:06 the ethics space, things like that. So,
14:08 I'm going to get things popping inside
14:09 the Salon. So, that's what we're doing
14:11 this for.

15:13 it works, trying to figure out how we
15:14 can support one another,
15:17 try to try to figure out how we keep
15:19 humans at the center of the
15:20 conversation. So, as AI
15:23 gets stronger and proliferates and does
15:25 all this stuff,
15:27 how do we
15:29 how do we uh
15:32 how do we manage all that?
15:34 The AI Salon is one of the one of the
15:35 few AI communities that is not just
15:38 talking about tools, right? [music]
15:40 We've got the mastermind where
15:43 members are creating daily practices
15:44 around how we use AI.
15:47 We've got the great repurpose, which
15:48 we're in the middle of a a session right
15:50 now
15:51 uh

15:51 >> that Andy's delivering that's about
15:54 decoupling your identity from your work,
15:57 right? AI's about to
15:59 mess with all of our jobs. Some people
16:01 are going to lose jobs, some people's
16:03 jobs are going to change.
16:05 How do you decouple that identity so you
16:06 can repurpose and figure out who you
16:08 are?
16:12 This Wednesday we're going to talk about
16:14 coding and vibe coding. Uh we're going
16:16 to talk about uh Brandon's been doing a
16:18 lot of good stuff with lovable, so we're
16:20 going to do some of that stuff.

16:51 first year or two.
16:52 When AI tools were these discrete things
16:54 that required a lot of prompting and
16:55 things like that, we're moving into an
16:57 agentic world where AI's going to go off
16:59 and do things on its own.
17:01 It puts a very different burden on us as
17:04 human beings.
17:05 And it and it creates much different
17:08 dynamics in the workplace, right? And so
17:11 so part of what we're going to talk
