1:32 incredibly curious for about a year and
1:34 obsessed for about six months and you
1:37 know to the point that I started a
1:38 Tick-Tock Channel which is insanity uh
1:41 and I started a newsletter and I'm
1:43 completely re-architecting my business
1:45 and I I can't keep up with it it's
1:47 impossible to keep up with but it's just
1:49 it's absolutely wild so I know a lot of
1:51 people are just joining so this is the
1:52 AI learning lab ask any questions that
1:55 you want about AI I'll do my best to

4:00 got that like the longer you've been on
4:01 the planet you just have more of that so
4:03 that I'm excited about how can I use AI
4:05 with confidential information so you can
4:08 use it in a couple of ways you can
4:10 um
4:12 there are a lot of Open Source
4:15 um large language models that you can
4:17 install on a local machine there's one
4:20 called hang on let me go look for it
4:23 I'm like surfing and don't know what I'm
4:25 doing I sing and hum and do stupid shits
4:28 so so you're gonna have to deal with
4:30 that but let me go see if I can find
4:32 this there is
4:35 I think it's called G PT for all
4:41 yeah
4:42 gpt4all.io
4:45 and what this is there's a Windows
4:48 installer an OS X installer and a Unix
4:51 uh Ubuntu I never know how to say that
4:54 installer
4:55 and you can choose which models to which
4:59 large language models to install there's
5:01 a bunch of them out there
5:03 um I'm trying to think the MPT 7b1 why I
5:08 know that is is beyond me but if you if
5:11 if you use this
5:16 um you're not making any calls to the
5:18 internet you're actually installing it
5:19 on your local machine and then the large
5:22 language model is
5:25 um is just being run locally so anything
5:27 secure that you want to do with it is
5:29 just being done locally
5:31 um if you want to get geekier and go
5:34 deeper you can do things like Lang chain
5:36 and and you know set up a virtual
5:39 machine on Google collab or on some
5:41 other tool like that and and do that so
5:45 um so hopefully that helps

6:10 saying to slow down on AI for its own
6:12 business purpose so the owner of chatgpt
6:14 did not say to slow down
6:17 Elon Musk and a bunch of other AI

6:21 scientists and things like that
6:24 called for a six-month
6:27 um
6:28 pause in
6:30 in AI innovation
6:34 and a week after Elon Musk called for a
6:38 six-month pause in an innovation he
6:41 accepted a delivery of 10 000 gpus and
6:44 started a competitor to chat gbt so I'm
6:47 not and he was just doing it to slow
6:50 down the competition but you know it no
6:52 one's going to slow down this this is
6:53 this stuff is moving too fast so to give
6:56 you some some perspective about how
6:58 quickly this stuff is going I was a I
7:01 was there for the early days of the
7:02 World Wide Web I started one of the
7:04 first digital agencies in the mid 90s
7:06 um and and
7:08 um the uh
7:11 the World Wide Web to get to 100 million
7:13 users took six years six years from like
7:16 I don't know whatever it was 91 or 92
7:18 when Tim bernersley invented it to 100
7:20 million users six years
7:22 um chat CPT six weeks to 100 million
7:26 users
7:27 so this stuff's moving fast I would like
7:30 to see Chach EBT merge with mid Journey
7:32 that would be cool do you have do you
7:34 hate when dumb people talk about it
7:36 taking over the world because they can't
7:38 understand well
7:39 I don't know that they're dumb they
7:42 might be ignorant about what AI is and
7:44 how it works
7:46 um I think that we also have
7:48 50 years of Hollywood telling us that
7:50 the robots are going to kill us

7:56 just at least in America
7:58 the default is the robots are going to
8:00 kill us they're going to steal our jobs
8:02 it's going to screw things up and and
8:05 and there's a justifiable fear here
8:07 because these these models these these
8:11 um
8:12 large language models are so so capable
8:15 there is going to be massive disruption
8:18 um so I don't hate it when people but
8:21 here's what I hate I hate when people
8:23 have very strong opinions that actually
8:25 haven't used the tools
8:27 like I don't mind you hating on AI being
8:30 scared of it you know saying it's gonna
8:31 it's gonna eat our lunch if you've
8:33 actually used them and if you actually
8:35 take the time to understand how they
8:36 work and and to educate other people
8:39 then I'm I'm I don't care what opinion
8:41 you have I think some people are gonna
8:42 hate them some are going to love them I
8:44 happen to be I I have what what I I was
8:48 uh I was accused of having adorable
8:50 optimism on a panel I was on
8:53 um and and I'll take that I don't mind
8:55 that label what's up man finishing up
8:57 tutorial using chat gbt for deform
8:59 animations tonight cool man that's
9:02 really cool
9:03 um by the way I if if you're like hey
9:05 where were you for a week
9:06 um I was in the corner I got I got Tick

9:12 a bad boy they didn't tell me what I
9:14 said I don't remember what I said but I
9:15 obviously said some word that was on the
9:17 on the evil list and it just went
9:21 and then I appealed it and they said no
9:24 but you can have it back in a week

10:18 I think that we will have
10:22 like an easier way to access autonomous
10:24 agents we'll have like agents that go do
10:26 stuff for us I think Apple could be
10:29 someone that launches that so Apple's
10:31 got a big event coming up in June
10:34 um they've already announced that
10:35 they're launching voice cloning as part
10:37 of the next iOS update which is really
10:39 interesting so I'd be able to clone my
10:40 voice and then send voice messages just
10:43 by texting them or you know
10:45 there's reasons that that could be
10:47 really good and interesting but if they
10:49 if they actually turn those agents into
10:51 things that can perform actions for us
10:52 so I think there'll be agents
10:54 um I think that the political season is
10:58 going to be
10:59 insane with misinformation and clones
11:02 and deep fakes and all that like it's
11:04 just gonna be Bonkers it's gonna be
11:06 bonkers
11:09 um
11:10 and I think that within a year
11:14 um Chet gpt-like capabilities
11:17 are literally going to be everywhere
11:18 it's going to be in all the Microsoft
11:20 products it's going to be in all the
11:21 Google products it's going to be in all
11:23 the screenwriting software you know
11:26 um adobe's Firefly all the little tools
11:29 that they're testing out with firefly
11:30 will likely get rolled into Photoshop
11:32 and illustrator and all that sort of
11:33 stuff so I think I just think we're
11:34 gonna see this stuff's gonna be quite
11:36 ubiquitous and then I think the next
11:38 five years it's going to start to be
11:40 like really significant scientific
11:42 advancement
11:44 um including these large language models
11:46 they're going to get absolutely crazy
11:50 take up a lot of space question mark do
11:52 I take up a lot of space yeah I'm fairly
11:55 beefy I take up a fair amount of space

12:01 musk is just jealous yeah musk is
12:04 jealous musk is pissed off because well
12:06 because musk put 50 million dollars he
12:08 started open AI he came up with the name
12:10 and he's like I want this to be open
12:12 source and they're like no we need to
12:13 raise more money we're going to bring in
12:14 Microsoft as a partner we're going to
12:15 turn it into a for-profit company even
12:18 though it's a fixed profit company and I
12:20 don't know if any of you heard this but
12:22 when Sam Altman was
12:23 um was uh testifying to to Congress
12:28 um it doesn't sound like he's got any
12:30 ownership in open AI which I find
12:34 baffling
12:35 but
12:36 maybe it's true

12:41 I use a lot of AI but I'm also heeding
12:43 the warning of foundational experts in
12:44 the field yeah like Tim Tim uh what's
12:47 his name Hinton no Jeffrey Hinton Jeff
12:49 Hinton Godfather of AI
12:52 saying that this stuff is scary yeah
12:54 naughty naughty I know I was naughty I
12:56 got I got booted I got kicked into the
12:57 corner
12:58 um
13:00 I think it might do the same for my work
13:02 okay wait uh it's cut a lot of time out
13:03 of my work outlines rough drafts
13:05 summarizing yeah that kind of stuff it's
13:07 brilliant for
13:09 um oh thank you for sharing the live I
13:11 appreciate that if you have any um
13:13 questions about AI just drop them in the
13:15 uh in the comments I'm doing my best to
13:17 keep up with them take your time to
13:19 learn how to communicate with it
13:21 um yeah the the if you're if you're new
13:24 to chat GPT that's the URL for it right
13:27 there I don't I don't have any
13:28 affiliation with them I just that that's
13:30 the official site there's just a lot of
13:32 scam sites out there so I don't want
13:34 people to get scammed
13:35 um
13:36 a good way to start thinking about chat
13:38 GPT is to think about it as
13:42 uh like a collaborative assistant rather
13:45 than thinking I put in the perfect
13:47 prompt and get back the perfect answer
13:48 start thinking about it more like no I'm
13:51 gonna set it up we're gonna I'm gonna
13:52 start talking to it like like right now
13:54 I need to write a paper and so it's
13:57 going to be my writing assistant it's
13:59 going to help me clarify my outline and
14:01 rearrange the outline and then it's
14:03 going to help me flesh out the outline
14:04 and then maybe it'll give me an idea for
14:06 an opening paragraph and then I'll go
14:07 run off and do some work then I'll come
14:09 back and and if you go back and forth
14:11 with it like that a you learn how to
14:13 prompt but you also start you'll you'll
14:16 start to get that this is a very
14:17 different kind of interaction than a
14:19 Google search this is not just you put
14:22 in a single thing and you get back an
14:23 answer it is much more like you've got
14:26 access to
14:29 I don't know eighty percent of the
14:31 knowledge of humanity at your fingertips
14:33 what are you gonna do with it and you
14:35 can do a lot it's it's just remarkable
14:39 um all right it's staggering how it
14:41 helps you comb your way to a result that
14:44 that's exactly what it feels like right
14:46 like my experience with chat gbt and
14:49 with all the large language models other
14:51 than Bard which sucks right now
14:54 um is that I'll kind of have a whisper
14:56 of an idea like a very vague idea and
14:59 I'll go oh let me try to jump in with
15:02 chat GPT and I'll jump in and say I kind
15:05 of have this vague idea and that will
15:07 come up like like a fully fleshed out
15:10 version of it and I'm like oh no that's
15:12 not quite it and then I'll say you know
15:14 change it this way boom out it comes oh
15:16 that's really good
15:17 and then that'll give me some ideas and
15:19 I'm like well wait what's the I remember
15:21 you know some I don't know quote that
15:25 that sort of sounded like this what was
15:27 that quote and it'll go oh that quote
15:29 was said by this person and here's the
15:30 exact quote
15:32 um by the way the new
15:34 um if you're a part of
15:37 um GPT plus you now have access to
15:41 um web browsing and plugins and so web
15:46 browsing so here's so so if you haven't
15:48 used chat GPT chat GPT up to this point
15:51 was not connected to the internet
15:53 so if you ask it something about current
15:55 events
15:56 um it it would basically just say my
15:59 knowledge ends at September 2021.
16:02 um but now that this is connected to the
16:04 internet I'll show you a cool thing here
16:06 so I'm in Denver right now and it's
16:07 really Smoky out so why is it smoky
16:12 in Denver question mark
16:15 and it's going to tell us so right so
16:18 what that says you can't quite see it it
16:20 says browsing the web
16:22 and then it's it rewrote what I asked
16:24 for
16:26 um to to do a search and now it's
16:28 clicked on a link and I think you can
16:30 open this up some of them you can
16:31 actually see what it's doing so it went
16:33 to the Denver Post
16:34 and it says it's thinking so I assume
16:36 that means it's summarizing the article
16:40 and hopefully here
16:44 the smoke in Denver is due to numerous
16:46 wildfires burning in western Canada
16:47 particularly in the province of Alberta
16:50 these fires have been burning
16:53 um Drive education leading to 1800
16:56 square miles being burned which is 10
16:58 times the norm for this time of year
17:01 so this has given me a really long
17:02 answer I mean what's what's interesting
17:04 about chat GPT and these large language
17:05 models is there they're not always
17:09 consistent in how they and how they
17:11 respond I asked this question right
17:14 before I went on live and it gave me a
17:17 single sentence it's smoky in Denver
17:19 because of fires in western Canada that
17:21 was it that just wrote me a novel about
17:24 about climate change and how you know
17:26 things are bad
17:28 um

17:34 plug-ins yeah plugins are very cool the
17:37 the plugins are a little
17:40 um they're a little raw they're a little
17:42 janky as they say
17:44 let me see if I can show you how to yeah
17:47 then you get this little drop down menu
17:51 right here and these are the ones I've
17:54 got installed but you can go to the
17:55 plug-in store
17:58 and
18:01 there are why do I only have two pages
18:04 of plugins oh that's popular
18:06 let me look at all of them hold
18:10 okay I've got 14 oh wow they added more
18:13 I've got 32 Pages 32 times 4 120 plugins
18:18 so Tasty Recipes rental search there's a
18:21 bunch of new ones in here

18:24 did they add search yet no there's no
18:26 search you can't you can't search for
18:29 plugins so you literally have to just
18:31 click Page by Page it's up to 32 Pages

18:37 oh this is cool okay so I'm going to
18:38 install this
18:39 okay so so it's called creature
18:41 generator creates a random creature from
18:43 an and an image wait and an image it for
18:47 use in role-playing games okay so so
18:50 I've I've installed it so now what you
18:53 do you leave the the store
18:56 and you go
18:58 to this little drop down menu
19:00 and I've got zapier turned on I'm going
19:02 to turn that off so you can use up to
19:05 three plugins in a session basically and
19:07 I'm gonna go turn on creature generator
19:12 and then I'll say
19:14 um
19:16 make me a dragon before
19:20 a new D and D game
19:26 um
19:27 that uh breathes
19:30 fire and lives in a cave because I'm not
19:34 creative
19:38 let's see what it does now it should
19:40 fire up
19:41 yeah so it says using creature generator
19:43 so what the plugins do is they send your
19:46 prompt to open AI open AI then figures
19:49 out
19:51 um it kind of parses what you asked for
19:55 and then
19:57 um and then the plug and then it
19:58 basically says do any of do any of the
20:00 plugins I have installed do what was
20:03 just asked
20:04 and then it sends a
20:08 it sends a thing and it wrote some code
20:10 so it wrote name cave crawler cave
20:13 crawlers are small anthropo anthropod
20:16 like creatures that inhabit the
20:18 underground
20:19 hit points 30 speed 30 strength eight
20:23 dexterity 18.
20:25 and then now it's creating I think it
20:28 created the image
20:30 and then hopefully it'll actually
20:31 display the image but that might just be
20:33 a link to it we'll see
20:37 we'll see when this finishes
20:44 hopefully it's some cool dragon so I
20:46 assume what they're doing is that's just
20:48 yeah oh cool not really a dragon it's
20:50 it's more like a
20:53 it's more like a
20:54 like a bed bug gone bad and a dragon so
20:59 I assume that means they're using Dolly
21:00 too because Dolly two's gotta gotta well
21:03 first of all dolly two is crappy uh
21:07 and but anyway that's how plugins work
21:09 they're pretty cool okay your screen
21:12 reminds me of when I wrote basic on a
21:14 Radio Shack computer yeah yeah that was
21:16 my first uh my first computer in 1977
21:20 was a Radio Shack trash 80. I learned
21:22 basic on it as well
21:25 all right
21:28 do all the plugins come with plus yes
21:31 and I and you can even go find other
21:34 ones
21:37 um it was Smoky here just a couple of
21:38 days ago Cool Joe well not cool but I'm
21:41 glad it cleared up
21:43 um I sent it transcripts of discussions
21:44 and it turns it into cohesive content ah
21:46 here's another cool thing okay traded
21:49 with the 4000 token limit and you try to
21:52 paste a transcript in and it's too long
21:54 and it fails for you

22:08 different models that you can choose
22:10 from you can also create
22:12 um Bots chat bots on your own
22:16 um but looky here at this Claude instant
22:19 100K so you have to be a subscriber
22:23 um I think it's 20 bucks a month
22:25 um so so I know yet another 20
22:27 subscription there's just gonna be you
22:29 know thousands of these things
22:32 um
22:35 you know I might have someone here
22:36 picking something up anyway
22:38 um
22:39 with it with a hundred thousand uh token
22:42 limit with with Claude instant you can
22:44 put in up to 75 000 words so you could
22:47 literally copy and paste a novel into
22:52 um
22:52 into the chat window and
22:55 um start asking questions about the
22:57 novel
22:58 so pretty amazing
23:02 okay
23:04 you have to treat it like an employee
23:06 yes you do
23:07 how did you do that teach us how did I
23:09 do what Emilio's wife I don't know what
23:11 I did tell me what I did and I'll teach
23:13 you
23:15 what did I do what did I do
23:18 uh could it have written a more
23:20 elaborate response because it was second
23:21 time you asked no it doesn't seem to it
23:24 doesn't seem to be um
23:26 it doesn't have memory like that it
23:27 doesn't have memory across sessions it's
23:30 got kind of memory within a session and
23:32 then open AI is using some of what we
23:35 contribute to contribute to a
23:37 fine-tuning model but it does not have
23:40 memory across
23:41 um
23:42 sessions you'd have to use something
23:44 like Lang chain and a vector database to
23:47 start you
23:50 there will be things there will be
23:51 things like this that do have memory in
23:53 the future we're just early right now
23:55 they don't have memory like that
23:57 do all the plugins come with plus yes
23:59 cool and scary thought
24:01 um okay it's easy to get overwhelmed so
24:03 many apps and tools popping up tips on
24:06 solid info sources
24:08 um I've got a newsletter called everyday

24:28 um there's like every issue has got some

24:37 come the prophets Elon Musk basically
24:39 said in the shareholder meeting that he
24:41 thinks that the total addressable market
24:43 for personal robots is every per one
24:47 robot per human being on Earth so he
24:49 said it's like 10.7 billion robots is
24:51 what we're gonna sell and he goes maybe
24:53 two per person so
24:56 that's Elon
24:59 um so that's a good source
25:01 um Rachel Woods here on Tick Tock I
25:03 think her
25:05 her channel is called AI the AI Exchange
25:10 she's good
25:12 um
25:13 there's a guy on YouTube he's okay he's
25:16 a little I don't know plasticy for me
25:18 named Matt wolf but he's he's he puts
25:20 out a lot of content and it's got good
25:23 information in it
25:24 uh
25:26 um
25:27 oh someone's just complaining that that
25:30 thing didn't give me what I wanted it
25:31 wasn't a dragon that's probably because
25:33 they use Dolly and Dolly sucks
25:37 um
25:38 the the other thing about getting
25:39 overwhelmed is it's it's absolutely
25:41 overwhelming right now so what I've done
25:44 like even though I'm doing this
25:46 newsletter and I've got this Channel and
25:48 I'm trying to learn all this [ __ ]

25:52 I've really just limited what I use it
25:55 for to to kind of chat GPT and image
25:58 things and then an occasional specific
26:00 tool like if I need music I'll go spin
26:02 up some music I'll go figure out a tool
26:04 and spin it up
26:05 um one of the one of the best things if
26:07 you really want to geek out and keep
26:08 ahead of this stuff
26:10 is
26:12 um
26:13 futurepedia.io I know there's a couple
26:15 of these out there but futurepedia.io
26:19 is a directory of
26:22 um of AI tools and and they're all
26:24 categorized there's music tools and
26:26 Graphics tools and writing tools
26:30 and there's too many a day to keep up
26:32 with but if you want to kind of try to
26:33 geek out you can do it there I pay the
26:35 20 bucks for chat EBT it saves me so
26:37 many hours in stress I'm self-employed
26:39 yeah I'm telling you these tools are
26:41 like they're like Talent amplifiers
26:45 right so if you're good at whatever
26:46 copywriting project management
26:49 um consultant whatever it might be
26:52 it really does amplify what you can do
26:55 it speeds it up it it
26:58 um it allows you to go deeper and it
27:00 allows you to speed it up or go more go
27:02 more quickly wait I said speed it up it
27:04 speeds it up you can go more quickly oh
27:07 and it sort of gives you new ideas you
27:08 can kind of live at a higher strategic
27:10 level when you work with it I think it's
27:12 a remarkable thing
27:14 um all the plugins how did I do that
27:15 okay so so

28:15 can do here the other thing you can do
28:16 here is beta features and you turn on
28:19 web browsing and plugins
28:22 and once you have those turned on now
28:25 when you go to gpt4 you can use the
28:28 default mode which is just normal gpt4
28:31 without access to the internet
28:34 you can use web browsing mode which is
28:37 now it'll search the internet
28:39 and then you can use plug-in mode
28:44 and it'll pop up this little
28:46 menu
28:48 here
28:49 and so these are the ones that I've got
28:51 installed and then but you can only
28:53 activate one of three per session
28:56 so you sort of figure out okay like

38:07 it's essentially impossible to
38:10 comprehend so how they how they trained

38:13 they they basically turned it loose on
38:17 all of the public internet right so all
38:19 of Wikipedia all of the blogs all of the
38:22 websites all of everything that isn't
38:24 behind a password
38:26 um is what these things are trained on
38:29 foreign
38:30 and so it just knows a lot and then and
38:34 then they've tuned it to be very capable
38:36 with things like coding and logic and
38:39 and all sorts of things like that so

49:09 that's the I think that is the most
49:11 accurate description of chat gbt
49:15 all right do I recommend using our
49:17 personal computer for AI sure I I mean I
49:20 wouldn't put you know personal stuff in
49:22 there if if it's if it's work stuff or
49:26 um or very personal stuff then either
49:29 install it locally or run a large
49:31 language model on a virtual machine like
49:33 a Google collab kind of a thing
49:37 um
49:39 the it's a bit of the Wild West right
49:42 now
49:43 the good news is these open source large
49:45 language models you can just there's one
49:47 called GPT for all
49:50 um I went to that earlier I'll show it

51:23 there is one of the options is data

51:27 and you can turn off I have it turned on
51:30 chat history and training make sure that
51:34 you export your data if you want to turn
51:36 that off it'll turn off all your chat
51:38 history but but in doing that it will
51:40 delete all of your chat history so make
51:42 sure that you export your data first so
51:44 with chatgpt you can make it a bit more
51:47 secure by by turning on those data
51:49 controls I happen to like having my chat
51:52 history there and I will risk someone
51:54 finding my super secret recipe for that
51:56 email I wrote to to someone uh
52:04 is Google collab a paid service it's
52:07 interesting
52:08 there's
52:09 you can use you can use it for free and
52:14 then you get some amount of like
52:16 priority cycles for free
52:18 and then when those priority Cycles go
52:21 away you can still use it but it's
52:23 slower or it's de-prioritized so I guess
52:26 if they're busy you don't get as much
52:27 performance
52:29 um I think I
52:31 I bought the 10 a month Google collab
52:33 that that I can turn on gpus for doing
52:36 the large language model stuff
52:38 but I haven't like I was using Google
52:40 collab to do stable diffusion when I was
52:42 doing the Kyle Shannon dreams art
52:43 project the one that that image is from

52:47 um but I haven't done that in a while so
52:48 I haven't used it I've been installing

55:41 but the the sort of new stuff is let's
55:43 call it post November 30th right post

55:50 was launched because what chatgpt did
55:53 was it opened up access to these large
55:56 language models to Everyday People
55:58 that's why my newsletter is called
55:59 everyday AI right this is we we're in a
56:02 new phase we we've crossed over into a
56:05 new inflection point which we did this
56:06 with the internet when the World Wide
56:08 Web came out and now we're doing it
56:10 again with with artificial intelligence
56:12 where just real people can now use these
56:15 tools and just real people uh 100
56:17 million of them started using it within
56:19 six weeks so so it is the fastest
56:23 adoption of any technology in history
56:26 I mean just mind-boggling like the
56:29 iPhone got to 100 million users in
56:33 four years the World Wide Web was six
56:35 years
56:37 newspaper was a hundred years
56:40 back in the 1700s

56:43 so these things are accelerating but but

56:47 this is big and fast
