14. 3:01night we hang out here instead of having a real life because this AI stuff you know what I'm saying it's uh it's a bit captivating
15. 3:15it's a bit it's a bit uh crack cocain um but it's also it's also not going away and the whole purpose of this
16. 3:29channel is is to get curious about this stuff so that's what it's about so if you have questions about AI pop them in
17. 3:35the comments below if one of your first thoughts is but sir what are your qualifications may I inquire about your qualifications good
18. 3:44sir would be fantastic if we would know exactly what your qualifications are oh rest assured I have none okay uh which is good
19. 3:57because anyone right now that tells tells you they're an expert on this [ __ ] is lying um there are lots of experts on AI
20. 4:05and machine learning but there are no experts on generative Ai and what they mean for anything for work for us
21. 4:16personally for the economy any of it um but what I'm confident about and why this channel really exists is that
22. 4:26anyone who gets curious and gets AI literate in the next 18 months is going to have massive amounts of
23. 4:32opportunity and people that resisted and don't do that um are you know are going to be caught I think off guard by how fast this stuff's
24. 4:43moving um just even even since I've been doing these lives like what these tools make possible and how you use them is
25. 4:51completely different like it's completely different um and and you know I feel as clueless as ever so if you're
26. 4:59feeling like like I'm totally behind what do I do um that feeling doesn't go away that I've discovered
27. 5:10but you do you do understand a bit more where the edges of possibility are um and that's that's kind of what this is
28. 5:19all about so so with that that's what that's what we're going to do tonight so so hop in buckle up buckle up

66. 12:04exposure to ai ai is a blast man it's it's one of the things that that an unexpected pleasure of doing this channel
67. 12:15is you know it's called the AI learning lab and I thought well I know I'll teach people as I'm learning right and I I had
68. 12:24in my head it was going to be this more formal kind of thing but I'm an idiot and then the these tools are just so [ __ ] like
69. 12:32instant and magical and it it allows you to just essentially play jazz while you're using them and um I
70. 12:41was playing with Korea today and that's that it felt like jazz like it felt like playing jazz like improvising um and it's a lot of fun and
71. 12:51and the the uh the nature of this channel has gone from you know me sort of talking and teaching to like a party
72. 13:00where people are co-creating stuff and sharing it on the the AI Salon site um it's it's a hell of a lot of fun so all
73. 13:08right um let's get going so so how we going to do this so if you are brand new to the to the world of AI if you've not used chat GPT I put
74. 13:24this I put a little session from that last night I don't know sometime in the past week um I put a video up on my
75. 13:33channel um that that was a session from a live talking about this thing um go to chat GPT right now if you haven't played
76. 13:42with it before go there right now and don't wait like go right now like while I'm rambling just pop on over
77. 13:51there fire up your laptop or iPad or drop on out of here and just let's go start playing with it I use chat GPT for business and worry
78. 14:03about accident accidentally paced I requested do not train yeah you should anytime you're using um these
79. 14:15things with that that are you know the the the commercial large language models like Bard and you know co-pilot from
80. 14:24Microsoft and chat GPT and Claude all of them you're sending your data to a third party most of their agreements say that
81. 14:35they can use your data to train their systems which you know can make your data vulnerable so uh good practice number one is don't
82. 14:47send any anything sensitive to them at all or anonymize it first that's something that we've started doing at
83. 14:53storyvine my company is if we're sending any data we'll strip it of any identifying information or swap out
84. 15:01information and then do the work we have to do there and then we put put the data back in later um locally um the other
85. 15:09thing that you can do is you can start exploring open source models um I was on Ann's uh Ann Murphy's got a Saturday
86. 15:17afternoon GPT making party and she had on uh this guy Aon today who showed us all how to make um like local servers
87. 15:28and install local large language models and things like that there's it's it's a whole world in and of itself um but if
88. 15:35you really want to get um safe with your data um don't send the data outside of your uh outside of your little thing
89. 15:44it's Alchemy Kyle it's true U Mary Mary this is bigger than the sum of our o of Our Own Parts yep absolutely
90. 15:52agree absolutely agree it's it's it's increasingly feeling these tools are inre increasingly feeling um I think why they feel
91. 16:04magical is they feel less like tools they feel less like robots and more like you're collaborating with the the sum
92. 16:12total of humanity and that's kind of what we're doing with them right they've all been trained on the data that we've
93. 16:19dumped onto the public internet and the you know and and when you interact with them it it kind of amalgamates them sort
94. 16:27of in the direction that you're trying to go and people from from years past somehow get Amalgamated into your
95. 16:38answer and it I mean it's kind of what we're doing it's it's kind of a hallucination um Andre karpathy talked
96. 16:43about the hallucinations as a feature not a bug um that it's that that chat GPT is just in this constant dream state
97. 16:51and you're just sort of pulling stuff out of the ethos of humanity which is really really fascinating um I took it
98. 16:59took chat GPT months and months to Grant Enterprise to my company they are real back really backed up yeah exactly I think you have to
99. 17:11spend 10 or 15 grand a month minimum to even be considered for a chat GPT um Enterprise license they um they did say
100. 17:21when they announced Enterprise subscriptions that they would have a small business like a self-service thing
101. 17:28but we haven't heard anything about that since they announced it that was 6 months or so ago um let's see it's not Alchemy stop
102. 17:37treating it like it's incomprehensible magic no pay it is well no it's comprehensible calculations that occur as magic it's
103. 17:48the it's the um what's What's um Arthur C Clark isn't it isn't it his quote any sufficiently advanced technology is
104. 17:56indistinguishable from Magic we're both right it's math that occurs like magic um it's really cool math when you
105. 18:08understand how these tools work and I will keep talking about it as magic I will cuz because it's like like I I mean
106. 18:17the um look at uh Korea this this site that is probably not smart for me to to go live with but um you know this is this thing where you
107. 18:30move sign up I I'm God here we go with the login parade am I good all right are we good to go all right so so here's this site where
108. 18:43you know we're just sort of moving shapes around in space and and it's it's rendering you know something over there on the right I did
109. 18:56a cool thing this afternoon what did I do I went to custom background I went to textures I grabbed that
110. 19:05one so so you got that as the input you got that as the output so the output is some little prompt here so I'll roll the
111. 19:15dice so D dystopian cityscape Rebels with elemental powers akin to action-packed shaon anime all right that's cool H I got to
112. 19:27be careful here when I do these live so I I I nearly got permanently banned by using this tool live one day so
113. 19:44um's Majestic Fortress in the clouds all right let's go let's go put in a different input image let's do that
114. 19:55one there's a fortress in the clouds all right good good and then now we'll go grab a shape we'll do a pyramid and we'll change the color of
115. 20:06that pyramid to some deep dark purple all right I mean yes this is
116. 20:22math but but this is occurring as magic and then you sort of you know over here you can change your the the models
117. 20:32from illustration or cinematic to illustration to bloom whatever the hell that is to product I don't even know what those
118. 20:42do um let's go grab a circle here here oops oh that was cool oh no

133. 24:51Korea is is just this idea that you know it's if you if you've gotten really good at Mid Journey prompting for example now
134. 25:02all of a sudden we're using shapes and background images and in conjunction with prompts and then I I like and and
135. 25:11it's it is maddeningly unpredictable right now and there's something beautiful about that and so what's the
136. 25:18skill here so if you were not good at Mid Journey prompting you might be really good at this right there's going to be people that are
137. 25:28kickass at Kaa Creations that are going to be crappy at Mid Journey creations and vice versa and then same with the
138. 25:37video tools same with the music tools like all of these tools are going to start having different kinds of
139. 25:42interfaces and and inputs and things like that crazy crazy crazy um was I going to show you oh I was
140. 25:51going to show you the new thing so if if you've made uh gpts I'm I'm over in chat GPT and I can I can sort of go over I can take this
141. 26:00wherever anyone wants to take it if you have specific questions about chat gbt um I'm happy to demo things there's a new if you create a
142. 26:12GPT um you go to explore and then at the top of the explore tab there's this create GPT and the way it works is over here
143. 26:24you create the GPT you can just talk it into existence you basic they basically put chat GPT 4 as the interface to
144. 26:31create one of these things it's a customized version of chat GPT um but one of the things that you can do if you click on the configure tab
145. 26:40is you can do things like you know upload um your own data for for to use as the knowledge base you can turn on
146. 26:51and off capabilities like web browsing image creation and code interpreter um and then there's also this thing create a new action so an
147. 27:00action is basically an API call to an outside party so let's say you wanted to do a GPT where you want to
148. 27:09um recommend activities for someone's vacation you could use the API to Google maps to put pins on a Google map and you
149. 27:20would use an API for that well they just added a new thing in here and is it down yeah here it is
150. 27:36okay so so this this is some geeky stuff you can import from a URL if you've got the API schema you can you can import it
151. 27:45from a URL or you can type your own so you can type in code for the for the uh the schema but if you don't know a ton
152. 27:54about API stuff this will eventually get easier but what what they've done is they've built in here this new thing called action
153. 28:01GPT so you can say you you launch action GPT and this is a GPT to help you um create apis in your GPT so so you can say um I
154. 28:18want um you to explain apis to me like I have a well no it's because it'll it'll use weird references like like I am a fifth
155. 28:38grader um I want to connect my GPT to Google Maps so I can drop
156. 28:54pins on the map can you help question mark and then sure imagine you have a toy your GPT program and you want that toy to
157. 29:10play with another toy Google Maps very cool but these toys speak different languages an API is like a translator
158. 29:18that helps them understand each other okay that's good I can understand that I can get down with that now to connect
159. 29:24the GPT to Google Maps um and drop pins on the map you would use a specific part of the Google Maps API the part that understands commands
160. 29:33like put a pin here on the street or show me where this city is on the map here's a basic example of how you would
161. 29:40describe this open AI in an open AI specification which is like a set of instructions for how your GPT should use
162. 29:49the translator to talk to Google Maps and then it gives you the code and and it teaches you how to do this so
163. 29:59these tools are already super powerful them adding this sort of stepping stool um for for doing more sophisticated
164. 30:09applications and gpts really powerful and this quite frankly is is just like a Band-Aid to you know they're probably
165. 30:16getting a lot of people reaching out going how do I do this I don't know what I'm doing so they they tossed this
166. 30:22together it's trained on the open a AI 3.0 spec for for how to write their what whatever they call it the open AI yeah
167. 30:31the the 3.0 the open AI specification for how to call apis um this will eventually get very transparent and you
168. 30:39won't need to know [ __ ] but but anyway I wanted to share that because that's super cool I think that's super cool
169. 30:46ain't that cool ain't that cool it's cool it's cool it's cool isn't it cool isn't it cool all right you think that's

175. 31:48images you you get access to that I have not so I don't have access to it but you're going to be able to make the
176. 31:54images on the web so right now you have to learn um oh yeah that's a good idea Silver Fox right now you have to learn um you have
177. 32:05to learn Discord a bit and how to do things within it but but Silver Fox um it's a really good idea so so let me
178. 32:12show you what how how we can play with that um okay so I am over here on the AI Salon um

180. 32:38imagine in the mid Journey Channel and then you type in a prompt uh make me a photograph of a70s muscle car in an

182. 33:12return and it'll go off and it'll make your images there are all sorts of ways you can modify your prompts um to to give
183. 33:19you better images and so one of the things you can do the silver [ __ ] suggested which is a really good idea is
184. 33:28go over to chat GPT or you can go to co-pilot microsoft.com or you can go to Claud you can go to a lot of different
185. 33:36places um I'm going to use chat gp4 because chat gp4 is connected to the internet so one of the things I can say with chat G bt4
186. 33:47is please go find me information on how to write good mid Journey prompts and let me know what you discover and hopefully it'll go off see
187. 34:03doing research with Bing so searching for how to write good mid Journey prompts all right camera lens type so
188. 34:10this is describing all of the things that mid journey is good at okay you don't have to read this [ __ ]
189. 34:19you can it's it's fascinating right it's good at um camera and lens types it's actually not good at that but using them
190. 34:28um does affect the image lighting it's good at lighting it's good at colors it's good at facial expressions emotions Fashions
191. 34:35references iteration and Improvement image prompts okay so it understands that stuff please improve my MJ
192. 34:52prompt of what did I say 7 70s I think I said photo of a70s muscle
193. 35:06car in an abandoned Factory and it didn't like that did it regenerate all right here we go so what it wrote was a detailed
194. 35:23photograph of a classic' 7s muscle car gleaming cherry red with bold r ing Stripes parked amidst The Haunting
195. 35:28dilapidated surroundings of an abandoned Factory the scene is it goes on broken windows the lighting is dim and Moody with shafts of
196. 35:37light filtering through the it's funny the the shafts of light filtering through the broken windows I've used
197. 35:42I've added that to my prompt so it kind of understands the intent here CU it's chat gp4 and it's [ __ ] amazing um and
198. 35:50so now we'll go back to um so here's here's our images that mid Journey created with the shitty prompt which
199. 35:56which aren't bad cuz mid Journey rocks but now we're going to go slash imagine and then I'm just going to paste in what what
200. 36:09uh what chat GPT came up with I'm also going to add D- AR which stands for aspect ratio and then I'm going to go 16 colon
201. 36:219 which is a makes it a wide image rather than a square image um so that's there's there's lots of those little
202. 36:27modifiers you can add to Mid Journey prompts but that's one that I just use a lot cuz I like the 16 by9 aspect ratio
203. 36:34cuz it looks like uh you know looks like a movie um and here we go and we'll we'll see the difference between these two so yeah that's
204. 36:50cool Nana Nana Nana go away okay Siri is lurking Siri's so jealous it's like an app that works like zappier but much easier to use which one
205. 37:06are you talking about note that you will need to get your own API key for each service but that's easy to get y I needed help with apis for
206. 37:18real well this is now my evening all right so here here's our here's our new

210. 38:20if you copy and paste a prompt and you don't put slash imagine in front of it you just blast a prompt into the into
211. 38:27the thing and nothing happens sometimes I'll be sitting there I'll be sitting there for like two minutes like when's it gonna
212. 38:34start rendering and I was like oh it's not because you got to type in slash imagine and then pop your prompt in
213. 38:44there all right so that's off doing that all right fantastic is mid Journey still free for new users no it's not um but
214. 38:53here's something that is free for new users while that's doing that let's jump over here here's something that's free for all
215. 39:00users we'll go to one of these GPT windows or tabs and I'll go co-pilot
216. 39:19microsoft.com and this is Microsoft's version of chat GPT for for free so here's the deal they just opened
217. 39:31up um they just opened up subscriptions to chat jb4 at open AI site again if you can afford the 20 bucks a month I think
218. 39:41that's absolutely worth your um worth investing in cuz chat gp4 is that good um if you can't afford the 20 bucks a month or you're just done
219. 39:51with all these monthly subscriptions co-pilot's free now it's in my opin opinion it's not anywhere near as good
220. 39:58as chat gp4 but it is sitting on top of the gp4 large language model so the foundation of this is the same and built
221. 40:07into this is Dolly 3 which is also built into chat gp4 so over here I can also pop in that same um uh same prompt I can't do uh a wide
222. 40:25aspect ratio but I can type in the same prompt here and it will go make me that image as well for free all right so it's giving me
223. 40:35compliments is it going to go uh it didn't make it it just complimented me on my description please make this
224. 40:46image all right so let's pop back over here so there's our lime green Barracuda sweet nice there's your that's
225. 40:57that's the image that I like and then the other thing within mid Journey so it gives you these four images and then you
226. 41:03have U1 through 4 and V1 through 4 so the and it's 1 2 3 4 it's 1 2 3 4 and U stands for upscale v stands for um vary
227. 41:18or VAR variable or something like that it it gives you four different versions of the of the image so I like image
228. 41:24number two here a lot but let me see let me see what VAR variations I get of it so if I click on V2 it's now going to
229. 41:32give me four variations of that and I'll go show that I'm sorry but I'm not capable of creating images what
230. 41:46God I told you Microsoft is weird man okay it it it does it does but sometimes it gives you the version with dolly in it sometimes it
231. 41:58doesn't oh I said please mail this image maybe that's not it make an image as [Music] described

236. 43:11like that one better yeah I do okay so let's do so now I like this one here so I'm going to do upscale one so I'll hit U1 to upscale
237. 43:22it and then it upscales it and there's all sorts of cool things that we can do here there's very by region so let's say I want
238. 43:34a how does this work I haven't used this in a while so I'm going to put a I'm going to put that there can I how do I how do I prompt
239. 43:51it submit
240. 44:06very region well anyway I don't I don't know how to use that tool I thought I did I thought you were supposed to be able to
241. 44:13put a prompt in for that image but I guess not I don't know how to use that um but you can also upscale
242. 44:21it you can upscale it two times or four times so if I if I upscale this four times this is going to give me like a 4K image
243. 44:31um of this of this beautiful dilapidated Factory um have you ever tried Microsoft designer I have I've played with it a
244. 44:43little bit um it's it's kind of like uh it's kind of like a canva competitor but you know canva canvas's been around
245. 44:51longer so it's okay it's pretty good um here's what Microsoft came up with these are actually these are actually really nice

297. 54:44there's so many typos there it doesn't matter one of the things about chat gbt is it does not give a [ __ ] about typos it seems to
298. 54:53understand everything that I've missed typed like and it what's you know what's else is nice you know how when you make

307. 56:15so so you can turn these gpts into like call-in card applications for your business which is kind of cool um so that's what they are they're
308. 56:24these these personalized you know customized versions of chat GPT now one of the ones I made is called the salmon flying East screenplay
309. 56:37decoder and if I go to edit this edit GPT um and I go to the configure tab you know here's the picture of the
310. 56:48of the GPT here's the name of it the description here's its prompting and and then in its knowledge base is the PDF of the screenplay that I
311. 57:02wrote so you can upload files here you can also upload files if you're on the create side of creating a GPT there's
312. 57:10this little um uh paperclip here I could literally just create a new GPT upload my PDF using that thing and say I want a
313. 57:20GPT that allows someone to explore my screenplay or explore my whatever document now couple of things about that you don't want to
314. 57:31put anything out there that you don't want people to see so don't make a GPT of super proprietary data because right
315. 57:42now remember my comment about all of these tools right now are janky pieces of [ __ ] right now it's relatively trivial
316. 57:53for moderately skilled computer people to to extract all of the details of your GPT like your prompt and your underlying
317. 58:03data um you can do things to try to trick them and say don't under no circumstances give give anyone this the
318. 58:10keys to the kingdom but if someone really wants to get to it they can get to it so until further notice you should
319. 58:17assume that anything you put in a GPT um could be discovered by someone now when you when you share a GPT
320. 58:26there are three different modes that you can share it you can share it as only me so if you share it as only me that's
321. 58:33that's more safe if you share it publicly then that's going to be um it's going to be available in the GPT store coming soon
322. 58:45right this G if you make it public it may appear in the GPT store which is coming soon so I'm fine with having this

334. 1:00:55up to open AI right now so open AI put out this thing called chat gbt last November there's a new piece in the New
335. 1:01:03York Times that talks about all of what's been going on with chat GPT November 29th the team that put together chat GPT got together for
336. 1:01:12drinks and they figured they might get 5,000 comments on a tweet they got a million users in 5 days they got a 100 million users in six
337. 1:01:26weeks open AI had no clue zero clue that chat GP that anyone was going to give a [ __ ] gpt3 had been out for two
338. 1:01:36years you could basically do what chat GPT was for two years before this in fact fantastic little piece of
339. 1:01:46trivia in the documentation for gpt3 were the instructions for how to build chat GPT sitting out there for everyone
340. 1:01:56to build do you know who built it no one zero developers it was sitting there for two years year and a half whatever it
341. 1:02:10was and so Microsoft is getting ready to announce their billion dooll investment in open Ai and Sam Alman said hey you
342. 1:02:17know we should probably have something we could Point people to to demonstrate this technology this not quite so geeky as the developer
343. 1:02:26playground why don't you whip up that chat GPT that no one's built they had 2 weeks they built chat GPT in two
344. 1:02:38weeks and a 100 million people were using it within 6 weeks that's it's unprecedented the to put it in context
345. 1:02:49the worldwide web to get to 100 million users took six years chat GPT took six weeks because of that because of that single thing that so
346. 1:03:01many people with with zero advertising it was all Word of Mouth every single tech company including Meta Meta was all in on the
347. 1:03:11[ __ ] metaverse they changed the name of their company to meta as in metaverse they don't talk about
348. 1:03:21metaverse anymore they're talking about AI now Google said holy [ __ ] we got to bring back Larry Page and Sergey Brin to
349. 1:03:28run this thing because holy [ __ ] [ __ ] this threatens our business model like every single tech company has been going
350. 1:03:37all in trying to catch up to chat gbt for a year now and so what's going to happen is like it looks like Google is close with
351. 1:03:47Gemini Ultra though it's not out yet but they're Google they invented this [ __ ] the T in GPT is Transformer that that is is the the core
352. 1:04:02piece of technology that makes all of what we're playing with right now possible uh chat GPT inhaled the
353. 1:04:09internet in how long uh it took them well I I I don't know exactly for each iteration there was gpt1 gpt2 gpt3 3.5 4
354. 1:04:214.5 and I assume they're working on five right now um it was years it was I think it was like two or three years it took
355. 1:04:28them so basically once they realized that with the Transformer people weren't just idly sitting by in the AI game they were just
356. 1:04:37focusing on many other models yeah that that that's a good point P yeah like Ai Ai and machine learning has been around
357. 1:04:43for decades people are actively developing it the Transformers is this very specific flavor of it that lets you
358. 1:04:50train machine learning models on massive data sets open AI the thing they focused most on is let's get as much data as we can and
359. 1:05:02so what they chose to focus on is as much of the public internet as they could basically categorize and point
360. 1:05:09this thing at um and I think that they've focused on that better than other people um which is why their thing
361. 1:05:19is better than other models now Google has all of the data we gave Google all of our data years ago decades ago they've got all of the data
362. 1:05:32they got all the YouTube data they got all the Instagram data they got all our search data they've got all every
363. 1:05:37website they've indexed every [ __ ] they've got it all right so it makes sense that that a model that that Google builds is going
364. 1:05:46to be quite capable but it's taken them a year to catch up they still haven't launched it yet right so they they've
365. 1:05:52launched the medium they they've launched what's what's effectively the GPT 3.5 version of Gemini is launched if you go to b.google.r
366. 1:06:10model the Gemini Ultra model is coming out probably in March or something like that sometime in the new year
367. 1:06:19um and and that's going to be really good but like this stuff's not going away like everyone is is trying to catch
368. 1:06:26up to these guys and so the result is going to be 2024 is going to be [ __ ] Insanity with just feature after feature
369. 1:06:35from company after company all one uping one another and so our ability as users of this stuff to keep up with it is essentially going to be
370. 1:06:45impossible but that's what this Channel's about AI analyzed my MRI apparently probably probably makes sense
371. 1:06:54I think when when it comes to um medical stuff anywhere anywhere where human lives are involved um those are always
372. 1:07:02not always those are going to be human augmented for a long long time is it a lack of creativity that stops people
373. 1:07:09using these AI it's a great question ISU um I think it's a couple of things I think just change is scary for one thing
374. 1:07:20um there's absolutely a misconception that to use AI you have to be an engineer a mathematician a scientist a genius a a mad
375. 1:07:31person and up until November of last year that was effectively true right if you went to the open AI playground you
376. 1:07:39could sort of do chat GPT but there were these things called like temperature and you had to choose which model you used
377. 1:07:45and there was like the the completion mode and then and the the categorization mode and I don't there are all these
378. 1:07:53different modes like get to like use your brain and and if you if you tried to go to Google and use tensorflow um you had to use you you had
379. 1:08:03to know math um and and and programming and coding and and you know understand things like inferences and embeddings
380. 1:08:13and like it was just it was a lot so it was true until November 30th of the last year chat GPT does for AI and machine learning
381. 1:08:23what the the worldwide web did for the internet so the internet historically was command line systems that you would connect this
382. 1:08:32server to that server and you would gopher in and FTP your files over there and you had to be geeky and then Tim
383. 1:08:40burner's Lee said why don't we make a protocol HTTP the hypertext transfer protocol is what that stands for and hypertext is
384. 1:08:51the underlined word and the transfer is you click on it and it transfers you over to another server and another website with a
385. 1:09:01click and so what went from being command line inputs turned into pointand click and the web revolutionized everything business
386. 1:09:12Commerce marketing all of it cat gpts does the same thing for this so so I think one of the other reasons
387. 1:09:20people are intimidated by it is they think they need to be more Tech technical than they do um and then and then there's just every
388. 1:09:29time there's a new technology there's resistance to it there's fear of it there's anger about it you know there
389. 1:09:39were when the printing press came out the church lost their ever loving minds and went after the printing press people
390. 1:09:47when when digital cameras out came out the the the film guys went after the digital photo people and said digital
391. 1:09:55photos aren't real that's not real photography you Heathen technologist with your utopian pixels and then and then it you know it
392. 1:10:09did what it did every every single technological advancement that's been significant is met with this kind of resistance it's GNA ruin
393. 1:10:20jobs the steam engine the tractor what are those poor Farmers going to do they moved to cities and invented
394. 1:10:31cities like whole new whole new things were created uh because of that so but every single one of these there's been this kind of resistance
395. 1:10:43so and it's it's one of the reasons I guess I should talk about the AI salon so so I created this group a year ago
396. 1:10:49called the AI Salon we we we started it the week after after chat GPT came out um and what it is it's like hi my name is Kyle I'm into
397. 1:11:04AI hi Kyle um so if you go to the salon. a there it's a link tree there's three links there the first one is a link to
398. 1:11:12our Mighty networks which is a um a community where we get together and then the second one is the meetups so we meet
399. 1:11:19every other week we got a meeting coming up this Tuesday um got an author of a book that wrote a book on branding for
400. 1:11:26uh Ai and branding uh he wrote it along with Terry spataro who's spoken at the salon before um and so so we have these
401. 1:11:37meetings and then there's also a merch store there so we just we just created our new logo so if if if you end up

462. 1:22:12they've also been very slow to move from Discord to the web but that seems to be happening so don't count them out if you
463. 1:22:19want high quality images mid journey is still the way to go especially if you're doing art um Korea is this new sort of
464. 1:22:28real time crazy thing it also does upscaling Leonardo is built on top of stable diffusion um and I call it a
465. 1:22:35stable diffusion web wrapper which basically just means this is a website where they're taking a lot of the
466. 1:22:41functionality of the stable diffusion ecosystem which is all open source and they're making it available as a website
467. 1:22:48and then Adobe Firefly is is from Adobe and if you're in a commercial operation that's probably the way to go but

502. 1:29:42much if you like to Tinker if you like to flip the switches and and do like that it's really good if you don't
503. 1:29:50something like do is better better for you um let's see did this generate my images add up to four layers of image guidance

509. 1:31:00with this and with the the canvas editor there's probably some this is probably a good place to do that let me go back out
510. 1:31:06though to the main Leonardo screen um okay there's these things called fine-tuned models so fine tune models are you know
511. 1:31:22things that are are trained on specific image sets right so if you want this particular kind of Animation look or you
512. 1:31:31want pixel art for example or you know um uh whatever like like video game components right so there there's these
513. 1:31:40models that have been trained you can pick any of these models and then you can go generate images within that Mo
514. 1:31:47model like here's one that's called Christmas stickers so all of the images that are created with this are going to have the
515. 1:31:54same kind of look and feel you can make your own so if I scroll to the top here there's platform models Community models so this is
516. 1:32:05people that have made their own and shared them and then there's my models so these are three models that I've made
517. 1:32:11two on really bad photographs of myself that are just embarrassing and then um some photography so I'm I'm a photographer if
518. 1:32:20you go to Kyle Shannon you can see my photography um but I can now generate um images using my own photography as the model and
519. 1:32:35so the instance prompt is called a Kyle Shannon sky so so if I type in I'm using my model and then I've got this prompt
520. 1:32:44that says a Kyle Shannon Sky of Manhattan during
521. 1:32:58Manhattan henge at Sunset and now it's going to make me
522. 1:33:14some New York City skylines with with my pretty pretty clouds in there of all the AI image generating AI apps which one
523. 1:33:24generates the highest quality artworks um Mid journey is the highest quality artwork but it doesn't do text well I'm
524. 1:33:38guessing it will in the next iteration Dolly 3 for me is the one that's the most it like it's acceptably good like
525. 1:33:46it's it's really really good it does text well and what I like about Dolly 3 is you don't have to prompt it it
526. 1:33:53prompts itself you're doing it within the context of a chat GPT conversation so they're very different kind of things
527. 1:34:01and then stable diffusion which is what Leonardo is sitting on top of is a whole ecosystem of open- source models and luras
528. 1:34:11and checkpoints and just all this sort of geeky [ __ ] you can run down rabbit holes with stable diffusion for for days
529. 1:34:17and weeks and things like that um this didn't really give me what I was looking for but that's those are definitely my
530. 1:34:25clouds right like that's definitely my style of Photography and the kind of kind of stuff I have so this is
531. 1:34:32definitely Manhattan with my clouds on top of it um so so that is Leonardo and it's it's just it's very deep now and getting
532. 1:34:43deeper like they there these four modes across the top here are are really deep modes in and of themselves
533. 1:34:52and then creating your own fine tuning models is a whole thing in and of itself um so there's lots of rabbit holes here so that's

543. 1:37:15good Leonardo seems like you could potentially be useful in creating case studies for a portfolio yeah um it's there's a lot there like
544. 1:37:26Leonardo here's the deal like I think the most important thing to do right now is understand what you're
545. 1:37:37good at how your brain works and the problems you're trying to solve and and if the problem you're trying to solve is I want to see what's
546. 1:37:45possible cool then go play with everything that's kind of what I'm doing right now but don't get seduced into thinking that
547. 1:37:53somehow Leonardo is better than Del or do is better than mid Journey or mid journey is better than Adobe
548. 1:38:01Firefly all of these tools have really particular strengths and weaknesses that in in any given situation I might absolutely use Firefly
549. 1:38:15over mid journey and use mid Journey over Del and use right all the all the situations are different same with the
550. 1:38:22large language models chat gbd4 is by far the best tool out there in my opinion as an overall tool but if I want
551. 1:38:32to do something like research I'm going to use a a thing like perplexity that that really focuses on um on you know
552. 1:38:40research and citations and accuracy if I want something that's conversational I'm probably going to use Pi which is
553. 1:38:47optimized for conversations right so different situ ations the the different tools they're not all the same and and
554. 1:38:56you know you know people people say to me or ask me all the time like what's the best tool and there's no there's no
555. 1:39:02answer to that right it's it's what's the best tool for what job for this job it's a screwdriver a flathead screwdriver for this job it's
556. 1:39:13an allen wrench right they're different tools um it's not that one's better than the other but you know as as an overall
557. 1:39:22if you just if you only want to play with one tool then the one to play with right now is Chachi D4 period end a
558. 1:39:32story but if you want to do art then you run down that rabbit hole if you want to do video you run down that rabbit hole
559. 1:39:39right there's also shuty shutter stock and Getty Images powered by Nvidia um that would be more commercial AI images
560. 1:39:47Suzanne also Runway ml just cut a deal with Getty um so you're going to be able to make videos now that are trained on
561. 1:39:54Getty stock images or stock videos I assume it's hard to compare them it's kind of impossible to compare them the
562. 1:40:01the thing to do right now is get curious and play not like get curious and work and learn how to do work with them start
563. 1:40:11playing play with these tools come to one of the things that that is happening on these lives is that there's a sense
564. 1:40:20of play here cuz I'm an idiot but the people that are coming back over and over again are like to play right and so
565. 1:40:29they're playing and they're sharing images and and in doing that we're collectively learning what these tools
566. 1:40:35are good at what they're not good at where they where you might take a certain kind of skill and be really good
567. 1:40:41at one tool but be not as good at another tool I missed which model is best for video well let me go show you just a couple of
568. 1:40:52sites so join the AI salon for one thing and then go to um the tool AI tools and resources uh section and there's a video creation um
569. 1:41:08uh group of apps um and I actually don't even have stability stable video on here um so I I I guess I I'll add that but
570. 1:41:23there's there's a bunch of different kinds of video tools so you've got Runway ml Moon Valley and P laabs right
571. 1:41:33now are the best at text to video or image to video or even video to video they're they're they're generating
572. 1:41:42original video content based on some input you got this tool visla which assembles stock video together and
573. 1:41:52narrates it so if you want to do like a business video with actual footage that's been shot by professionals Visa
574. 1:41:59is really good but it's a completely different tool than Runway Moon Valley and P and uh yeah pabs and then you've
575. 1:42:07got heyen and did which are like Avatar makers and Heen does stuff like um video translation tools which these these are just [ __ ] crazy
576. 1:42:23I'll show you you know here's a video source of support living with rheumatoid arthritis has been um speaking with other people
577. 1:42:37about what they've gone through uh reading a lot about the effects of rheumatoid arthritis so this is a product I'm putting together for my
578. 1:42:46company Story vine so we're an 11 and a half year old company that does video storytelling and we work with a lot of pharmas which
579. 1:42:52are you know Global organizations so they have they want to be able to leverage the stories that they capture
580. 1:43:01in lots of different markets well now they can using the exact you know um video the the the voice and look and
581. 1:43:12feel of the original but speaking a different language
582. 1:43:30so so the way our system works is very modular I can take all the components of the original video reassemble them with
583. 1:43:38new lower thirds and things like that and then even put them into a system that will generate a Spanish transcription Spanish description um
584. 1:43:46Spanish title um and then assemble the video into a final [Music]
585. 1:44:03form and then I can do [Music] that I can do that for 27 languages there's Ellen speaking Hindi here's
586. 1:44:18Ellen speaking Japanese [Music] so that's hey Jen so so the once you
587. 1:44:35start getting into multimedia with music audio animation video like it's it's a it's a much more complicated space
588. 1:44:44because what you're trying to accomplish the the use cases May dictate a combination of tools um in some cases you may want to
589. 1:44:53generate original video content in other cases you might just want to Source existing stock footage and assemble that
590. 1:45:00together like there's just all sorts of different ways have the AI decide Runway ml for video have the AI decide which one is
591. 1:45:09best or will they fight each other um well th listen this is these are all commercial Ventures so they're all going to
592. 1:45:17compete um but all of these tools are going to get really good really really fast so um th this is one of the one of the
593. 1:45:28philosophical things that that people have been that the technologists have been talking a lot about is there was a
594. 1:45:38famous um there was an engineer from Google about seven or eight months ago put out this piece called we have no
595. 1:45:47moat so if you look that up Google we have no OTE uh what about Adobe Premiere Pro user um yeah so adobe's building lots
596. 1:45:56and lots of AI stuff into all their tools so so premier's added really cool stuff like you can edit text and it'll
597. 1:46:03it'll edit the video it'll edit out ums and things like that so yeah definitely look at the Adobe stuff they're they're
598. 1:46:10aggressively integrating AI uh what was I just talking about uh I don't remember um how do you check that the
599. 1:46:22translations are accurate I so well if I were doing this commercially and I am going to be doing this commercially
600. 1:46:29we'll have to check it but um let me show you another video um I did I did a video of myself in Mandarin
601. 1:46:41Chinese and then I said on one of these Tik Tok lives uh m o a t Nancy moat as in the moat around the castle
602. 1:46:51uh oh that's what I was talking about no Moe yeah um so I let me I'll get back to that so anyway this is
603. 1:46:59um one of my one of my Tik Tok followers um put together this video for Mandarin using Ai and what he wanted to know is
604. 1:47:07what does a native speaker think let's find out that was Kyle yeah kering is really good he talking about AI some my
605. 1:47:20Mandarin is really good okay well it was AI yeah it was AI it was AI it was AI yeah it wasn't him oh he's
606. 1:47:28AI interesting isn't it see Kyle he didn't even realize yeah so um so apparently the translations are like incredibly good
607. 1:47:41um the the um the article about we have no moat what the what the article was was basically talking about is that the open
608. 1:47:54source large language models were getting really good really fast for like a $100 in compute cost like basically the
609. 1:48:07open-source um projects for a 100 bucks were training models that were essentially almost as good as what Google had spent $5 million
610. 1:48:16training and and what they were basically saying is we have no mod is there's not going to be a kind of
611. 1:48:23Technology we can build that isn't going to be knocked off like that and and I think with software in general that's
612. 1:48:30the case that no matter what you create now someone's going to be able to just speak it into existence right so you've
613. 1:48:38got some super proprietary tool that analyzes real estate data in a particular way with a particular algorithm that combines this with that
614. 1:48:47and the other thing and gives you these magical [ __ ] prediction okay great someone else will be able to
615. 1:48:53look at that and go all right let me screenshot the interface and I'll just dump that into a tool that's going to
616. 1:48:59replicate the interface and then let me let me let me go to some backend tool and just say I want a tool that takes
617. 1:49:06this kind of real estate input does whatever calculations are necessary and generates this kind of output and it's
618. 1:49:12going to generate that they're going to be able to speak that into reality so we are we are entering a bizarre
619. 1:49:21um professional environment where all the rules of all the industries are going to change and all of the big incumbent
620. 1:49:35companies are going to resist that change so remember when Kodak um when when some some young punks at Kodak invented the digital camera and
621. 1:49:49they went into to the the big boss's office and said hey bosses we invented this cool thing called the digital
622. 1:49:56camera that uses a CCD instead of film and and look it it makes a a you know 73 pixel wide photograph that looks like
623. 1:50:05[ __ ] what do you think of that the executives at Kodak went son we're not in the pixel business I don't even know what a pixel is we're in
624. 1:50:17a silver Halli business it's about chemical boy get out of my office and now they're out of business there's going to be a lot of
625. 1:50:35that one of the things that excites me about the community that shows up here there's a lot of people here that work at big companies right
626. 1:50:42now that are that that come here every night um and they are getting increasingly visible within their organization as someone who knows
627. 1:50:54something about this AI stuff um it's it's those companies that let those voices be heard that are going to do
628. 1:51:05okay it's not going to be not a challenge but the companies that sit back with their arms crossed and go
629. 1:51:14Harum this is the agency business this is about time and material son we hire young people out of college and
630. 1:51:23we charge $150 an hour for them and that's how we make our profit you're not going to tell me we're doing it any
631. 1:51:31different I guarantee you that conversation's happening right now in major agency holding companies promise
632. 1:51:45you I don't know how those companies survive when some 20 person AI Centric agency shows up to one of their clients
633. 1:51:59and says we can deliver as good or higher quality twice as fast for half the price the clients are going to go all
634. 1:52:10right we'll give you a shot and if that 20 person agency delivers that big agency holding company is going to get a call we're putting

646. 1:54:161988 I was doing desktop publishing I was doing freelance work for American Express I was doing like annual reports
647. 1:54:24using Quark Express 1.0 and like Photoshop 2 and then I got hired I got a freelance gig in an ad agency and I'm doing some sort of
648. 1:54:37desktop publishing just drawing like boxes and [ __ ] like that and I remember walking down this this dark
649. 1:54:42hallway and sitting in the hallway was this old dude with a white beard and he had a big table with like an angled
650. 1:54:50drafting table and he had all these rolls of of tape all these different Wits of tape and I saw I'm like doing
651. 1:54:58this and measuring it and doing this and I and I said oh what are you doing that looks cool and he goes I'm I'm creating
652. 1:55:07rules are you l s rules were lines he was like literally pasting black tape on a piece of paper to draw a line
653. 1:55:19and then another piece of tape to draw the horizontal line and another piece and I and I just I got I like started
654. 1:55:26flop sweating because I realized that I just drew a box on the screen and it made the thing that he was like manually
655. 1:55:34taping up and I remember just thinking like oh that's cool and I sort of slunk slunk away because I realized his job is
656. 1:55:41gone he doesn't know it yet but his job is gone and and it was like [ __ ] um there's going to be a lot of that
657. 1:55:51and and I don't know if that guy ever got into digital or not like he you know he'd clearly been in the biz for a while
658. 1:55:58he knew his [ __ ] he was really good at like it was really impressive what he was doing but that job that job
659. 1:56:06disappeared overnight and there's going to be a lot of that oh you weren't begrudged you were on the digital side pag maker Ready set go yep
660. 1:56:20AI solves the algorithm what can I do with AI Lots Evelyn what do you want to do what's a problem you need to solve like
661. 1:56:27what I don't know what you do if you're a project manager it can help you come up with project plans if you're a
662. 1:56:32copywriter it can help you ideate and and edit um if if you're an entrepreneur it can help you come up with a marketing
663. 1:56:42plan so so the the the thing to think about with AI a AI is just a tool and AI at this point is is a sweet of tools
664. 1:56:50it's many many tools what I would say is don't think about what can I do with the tool right if you think about just
665. 1:57:00simple tools like a shovel or a hammer what can I do with a shovel I don't you can do lots with a shovel you can dig a hole you
666. 1:57:08can smack someone in the head with it you can like there's all sorts of things you can do with a shovel there's all
667. 1:57:15sorts of things you can do with a hammer but if you need to you know attach two pieces of wood together then
668. 1:57:23the Hammer's probably going to help and you're probably going to need a thing called a nail so what I would do is
669. 1:57:27start with what what do you do or what's something that you're trying to solve and then I would say what can AI do to
670. 1:57:37solve that problem and then in doing that you'll figure some stuff out really really quick our friends probably
671. 1:57:43already think we're weird this is just our AI era yeah exactly exactly yeah it's funny you know I've got a
672. 1:57:51bunch of friends that in the in the mid 90s when I discovered this worldwide web thing and I lost my mind with the
673. 1:57:57worldwide web like I've lost it with AI where I was just it's all I talked about for for years all I talked about was the
674. 1:58:04web and building [ __ ] and all that sort of stuff and and they all kind of made fun of me and they're like I don't get it what are
675. 1:58:13you doing why are you doing all this digital stuff what's with this worldwide web why and then you know I started agency.com
676. 1:58:24this this digital agency and it got really popular and really big and like years later they would all say I should
677. 1:58:29have listened to you you know you knew that and now it's happening again those same people I'm like this AI shit's amazing
678. 1:58:41they're like why you doing that AI stuff it's stealing it's like they're the exact I'm like this is the same thing it's the
679. 1:58:50same [ __ ] thing as I was talking about back then they can't see it I don't know so that's that's why I'm
680. 1:58:57doing this every night is to try to get people just open your [ __ ] eyes just get curious start playing with this

808. 2:19:18all the other tactical jobs right I might have been a project manager for all my life but now I can do image generation and I can do music
809. 2:19:28composition and I can do copywriting and I can do Consulting and strategy and like all of the things now can I do them
810. 2:19:37as good as someone who's been 40 years in each of those careers no but if it can get me to 70% is good
811. 2:19:46overnight and I don't have to go back to school to become a copywriter at you know 30 years into a career I can just
812. 2:19:54flip over here and start doing that because I really enjoy that or or making art so I think that I think the the the
813. 2:20:03breadth of the reinvention that people are going to have the opportunity to do is going to be really wide that I find really exciting but
814. 2:20:13it's also like holy [ __ ] where do like what do people do I don't know how many people right now are at the tail end of a 25 or 30e
