29. 7:49purpose and if your purpose is is well I want to protect my idea is is that really your purpose um Because unless you're really

31. 8:20enough that you can actually prosecute that patent infringement the chances in 99 99% of the time are no you
32. 8:33can't I mean if it's egregious and someone decides to take the case on spec it's possible um but they probably won't
33. 8:42do that now if the purpose of your Paton is look this is really novel I don't think that it's going to be I think it's
34. 8:49a moat right I think it's an intellectual property moat and I plan on you know spinning up my business um getting it funded getting it in
35. 9:03market and then selling it to a big technology company who will have the resources to reinforce the patent then
36. 9:11sure right um or you could do like uh Jim Franklin is it Jim Franklin that did it yeah I think so up in uh up in
37. 9:19Boulder he um he got a patent from some of the early video streaming technology and he got patent and then he you know
38. 9:31ran his company and he basically just let let all these big companies generate a bunch of streaming services and then he just went door by
39. 9:43door and knocked on the door and said oh I've got this patent he patent trolled them uh here I've got this patent so why
40. 9:49don't you pay me $100 million and he just he just went down the line and knocked on doors and made a bunch of money on it so so there's some
41. 9:57strategies but here's the here's the big caveat right now and this this is a weird cynical take for for someone who is you know
42. 10:10largely optim optimistic about this stuff I can't imagine any piece of software developed in the next year that isn't going to be trivial to
43. 10:24copy in the next three and it's not going to be like one or two companies can copy it and spend you know $10
44. 10:35million building it and knocking it off it's like anyone who sees that I idea is going to be able to just go oh hey make
45. 10:43me one of those right either for their company or just as individuals so I think we're getting we are entering a very very
46. 10:53strange copyright and intellectual property landscape so um provisional patents are decently cheap they're not
47. 11:02cheap cheap if you can write it yourself with chat GPT go for it um and you just want to pay it like that but it's like I I don't
48. 11:10know I would there's a lot more questions to answer what did you just drop I don't know what did I drop I might have hit my guitar or I'm

66. 15:31intellectually proud of and it is one of the most disastrous business decisions in my entire life so patent patent you
67. 15:41know value whether you get one or not is independent of whether or not it's a a decent business idea and then that's
68. 15:51independent of whether or not you can actually execute the business but I don't I don't I would consult an IP attorney but but I
69. 16:05think the reality of patents and and the the intellectual property that we're about to enter the the intellectual
70. 16:13property Gauntlet we're about to enter yeah philosophical Monday is is uh I wouldn't I like I don't know I wouldn't it would
71. 16:25have to be pretty [ __ ] novel it would have to be pretty [ __ ] novel and listen I mean do I think that there's not novel

81. 18:01work and then I thought no Kelly talks about how she does this when she's sitting at her couch at night she's just
82. 18:07like sitting on her couch watching TV making images in mid journey and right and and then I thought well why don't I
83. 18:17make them in chat GPT rather than mid Journey because it's just easier right so so I was like ah what idea could I come up
84. 18:27with and I forget how I got on the masks I think I just wanted I just wanted a um like a consistent through line across lots of
85. 18:40images so I just said to chat GPT come up with visual prompts for for 20 ancient ceremonial masks from 20 different countries and maybe 20
86. 18:52different errors I don't know I don't know exactly what I said and then it it wrote the descriptions and I modified
87. 18:58that slightly and then I just said make the next one make the next one make the next one so it made all of
88. 19:03those and then I think then what did I do oh then I had to find an image to video tool that I have access
89. 19:14to that I'm not rate limited out on right cuz most of the things if I'm paying 10 bucks a month on a video tool you get like six
90. 19:24videos um and runways image to video had hadn't come out yet that came out today so we'll play with that today too and so
91. 19:33I used ka's video which is kind of went you know wonky and weird Jank janky and weird as as all these tools are but it
92. 19:41kind of worked for that it did this weird sort of light flashing thing the light flashing back and forth so let me
93. 19:47let me show you the the video that I made and then um and the music here was done in udio cuz yudo has a
94. 20:03new they have a new model out as well um let's see new downloads oh that's just all the Raw
95. 20:17videos where do I have it on the desktop yes okay
96. 20:32oh these are some cool images some cool images I did for tonight's little project this was another thing I did I
97. 20:39did a whole bunch of images for for Runway image to video um and this was this was one of the one of the ones I did The Prompt here was
98. 20:52hope with a with a random style reference and this was these four Images were in a single Style reference I just think they're

116. 25:16phone while I'm watching TV right so this is not there's not a lot of thought going into this and this is again my new
117. 25:25mantra of the past month and a half or two is um stop using your brain we have ai now you don't need to do that [ __ ] anymore right CU
118. 25:37historically if I was like okay I got to come up with a video concept and like even if I came up with masks I'd go like
119. 25:44okay well what are kinds of masks well there's like the the Lucha Libre mask in Mexico and there's the Opera mask in
120. 25:52China and there's the right and you use your [ __ ] brain to do right no so I put create 20 image prompts for
121. 26:01closeups of mythical masks from 20 countries and so it did China Japan Greece Mexico Egypt like you know it oh
122. 26:12yeah Papa New Guinea of course how could I forget Papa New Guinea because you're human your brain doesn't do what [ __ ]
123. 26:19large language model do which is [ __ ] remember everything um so then I said um oh that's it I I didn't even touch it I
124. 26:30just said make make 16 by9 wide right so I wanted cinematic shape you know landscape image of the first one in a
125. 26:41cinematic Style with dramatic lighting and so that was the image it created and then there was that one and
126. 26:52that one and then I I just said next next image like here's my prompt next image and it did that and and again so I'm
127. 27:02just I'm literally on my phone and you know when it renders the image like great next image next image so I'm not
128. 27:08even really paying attention to them and just sort of blasted down through them and then at some point I
129. 27:18did next image and it it's it repeated them from the top that one I really like it it didn't it it actually really uh
130. 27:25Kaa like completely lost that one th this one turned into like a weird ass panda bear and that's a cool the the
131. 27:32eagle or the hawk or whatever the hell that is is really cool um that one I think is just stunning so this is all Dolly 3 right this is all
132. 27:45I'm within chat GPT right now so if you pay your 20 bucks a month you get access to this tool for free um at some point
133. 27:55um it said you're making images too fast try again in 3 minutes and so it rate limited me for 3 minutes which is fine I
134. 28:04didn't give a [ __ ] really cuz I'm watching TV what did I care here's where it started repeating the masks and then
135. 28:11what did I do oh so that was it so then I downloaded every one of these images and of course it downloaded them
136. 28:22in webp and I had to convert them to pngs and then I had to convert them to jpegs because who whoever invented webp
137. 28:29is an [ __ ] and whoever is not supporting it is a bigger [ __ ] um so I dealt with that nonsense um downloaded the images and
138. 28:38then I went over to Korea and again I I logged into um wait you get this tool for free if
139. 28:53you pay for it exactly that's exactly right um and we and you get this tool for free if you pay for it and we'll
140. 29:01give it to you for short limited uses it's exactly right that is the new business model um video and video tools
141. 29:12are even worse so I went to Deco here I went to Runway I went to I don't know three or four different video tools that I didn't have enough
142. 29:25credits on and then I got to Kaa and Kaa has this weird ass video tool that it's got a timeline and you
143. 29:37sort of set a duration length over here and then it's got a prompt so what I ended up doing was I'd import an image here at the
144. 29:49beginning of the timeline I set the the video length for 5 seconds and then the prompt down below here said mask comes to life
145. 29:58and eyes glow with Spirit right so some stupid ass some stupid ass prompt and so what I would do is it would make a video
146. 30:07I would download it if I liked it and then I would trash the image here and then I would go click and it's going to add an
147. 30:16image all my images are broken for some reason oh maybe do I need to log in no I'm logged in so let me go grab an image
148. 30:24from from the downloads let's go get a good one we get a good colorful one that's a good one okay so I i' grab an image like
149. 30:43that what's going on it ain't this [ __ ] ain't working why is that upload not working let me reload Kaa hang on
150. 30:58okay it's in there now so for whatever reason so it's loaded here and then this video that's here is from the previous thing and then over
151. 31:08here I say generate video and then it would generate the video and so it's doing its thing and this was weird too where CU what what
152. 31:19what Korea will do is it will generate a low reses version of the video and then you think it's done and you download it and then it does a
153. 31:30second pass on the video and it makes it way more detailed so I I kind of had to learn see so the video is done here but
154. 31:37that's the rough draft of it and notice how the image is very different than the um the original let me show you the original
155. 31:53here and this I mean this is where you very you very much get into embracing the Jank territory where so there's the image I
156. 32:01started with and there's the low res image like it turned it from this super masculine scary Mustachio dude to kind of
157. 32:14her and now it's now it's it's rendering it to add details and you'll see here in a second yeah there you go so there's the
158. 32:27details so see how it got much more contrasty and the lighting got got bigger and better so then I did that so then I
159. 32:36thought okay so now I need so so what I how I kind of previewed what it was going to look like is I went over to finder my little download
160. 32:46area and I said okay let me just preview these here's here's one of the masks there's another one there's another one
161. 32:58so I'm like okay this is you know this kind of works and so I thought I need some music for this and the music was actually really
162. 33:10hard so I went I went back to chat GPT because again don't use your brain when you could um you know I I could write an a I could
163. 33:25have probably done better if I written a prompt but I was committed to not using my brain so describe a piece of music
164. 33:32that would be a good backing track to videos of all these masks what's nice about working in chat GPT is you can say
165. 33:40phrases like all these masks and it knows what it just produced right it should have ceremony on traditional
166. 33:47elements with driving beats so it wrote this big long long ass prompt and then I said make it shorter and it did that and
167. 33:56then the the songs that it made were just shitty let me see the one that I went with I actually don't love it but it it
168. 34:06was the only thing that actually felt ceremonial so let me show you or let you listen to okay ritual echoes

170. 34:37masks sort [Music] of and what I would do is I'd go actually I like this one now that I
171. 34:53hear it but at the time it didn't feel right it didn't feel like ceremonial enough this was a different
172. 35:04prompt and like I definitely wanted to like right like if you're doing ceremonial masks there should be right and that that didn't have it
173. 35:19then there was [Music] this again i' go here could [Music]
174. 35:37work but that wasn't quite [Music] there no no no
175. 35:59and again if you're if you're in here and you haven't played with these tools like I know it sounds like oh my God he
176. 36:04wrote all those songs not really like udio makes two songs for every prompt you put in there so basically I would
177. 36:11have chat GPT write a prompt and then if I didn't get music I liked at all I went I had chat GPT rewrite it and then I
178. 36:19hand edited a few of them and then I just popped it in here and I just kept hitting rebuild rebuild and then I would
179. 36:26watch TV and I would sort of listen in my headphones kind of mindlessly aimlessly this is the one I ended up going
180. 36:39with right that's at least got the [Applause] drum right then what else did I have here then I was like I wasn't quite in
181. 36:50love with that so I did a few more this one was just weird it didn't that was just like the throat throat chanting
182. 37:05singing you know again nothing so they were all just kind of this mushy Mambi pami [ __ ] except for the one I went with and again wait
183. 37:20was that it no this [Applause] [Music] [Applause] one and then I basically just threw them into um iMovie I just dragged all the
184. 37:32clips into iMovie threw them in the timeline threw a cross dissolve in between them or I forget what they called it they called it something
185. 37:40different Cross Focus cross I don't know whatever the [ __ ] it was called and then threw the music in there and the thing
186. 37:47that probably took me the longest was figuring out how to fade out the music at the end um and that was it and then I made
187. 37:57them movie and I uploaded it and like from beginning to end maybe an hour but probably more like 45 minutes of you know just having chat
188. 38:08GPT do it kind of mindlessly playing why don't you just say jungle music and be done with it I well that
189. 38:15was that was the thing is I was I was uh trying to be clever and um that probably would have been better Joker I'll show
190. 38:23you some images I made I made a bunch of images for Mid journey tonight to play with run New Image to video model um
191. 38:30love it thank you for explaining oh you're welcome you're welcome you're welcome um yeah so so that was the whole
192. 38:35process then I yeah took it into iMovie right there's iMovie there's all my little Clips there's the song you know
193. 38:41here's all the clips with the little cross fade in between them and then I figured out how to fade it at the end which you know I knew how
194. 38:50to do this 15 years ago before I started an automated video company because I hated video editing so much that I
195. 38:59invented a company to automate this [ __ ] that's you know you got ad when when you're so you're so committed to
196. 39:09not doing things the way that the world tells you that they are you start a whole company to not do it that way it's
197. 39:16the the ultimate Act of defiance is [ __ ] it I'll start a come I'll prove you [ __ ] wrong ah a all right so we'll get back to Runway

199. 39:39songs probably would have been better um but anyway I ended up with something that I was actually decently
200. 39:45happy with with with not a lot of time uh invested um what I what I didn't like about Korea and in fact we'll we'll go play
201. 39:58with some some Runway ml image to video tonight and I think that's going to be much more satisfying um the way Korea
202. 40:08works both Korea and Deco here both have video generation tools but I think the foundation technology for both of them is
203. 40:21sdxl which is this real time image Generation stuff and it's it's very the way they do it real time is they only do one or two passes
204. 40:34of diffusion or whatever the [ __ ] they do five passes maybe to get to an image really quickly um and it just it
205. 40:43completely changed the masks like I didn't like how much it changed it it didn't [ __ ] matter because what what
206. 40:50it changed them to were still cool masks like you know I didn't have a specific mask that I wanted to represent I just
207. 40:57kind of want a general over the ages over countries seeing how humans choose to represent themselves ceremonially right
208. 41:08like so it didn't have to be that precise if I were doing a documentary I'd have been [Laughter] pissed oh man if you wanted to help
209. 41:22grade school kids grade school age kids write a song that would Trigger or Kevin mallister moment what style here's what
210. 41:30I'd do Papa JJ I would have the kids tell you what song is their favorite song or or get a couple of songs and
211. 41:40then even if you don't know them go to chat GPT and have chat GPT describe the the style and genre of that
212. 41:49title and then I would take the key wordss from that description into Udo and then and you could also you could
213. 41:56also have chat GPT write the lyrics what what I like about writing the lyrics in chat GPT before you go to the music
214. 42:03things is that you can work on the lyrics without having to write the song so you could just play with the kids and
215. 42:10say okay we're going to do it in this kind of style which based on the songs that you liked and then the the subject is going
216. 42:19to be whatever the subject's going to be you you work on the lyrics and you tweak The Prompt until you get them right you
217. 42:25watch them you know you let them watch that that process and you let them contribute to that process then you take
218. 42:33those lyrics that they just improved and the song that they just described and then you go to udio and you throw it in
219. 42:41udio I think I think you could have a series of Kevin mallister moments there so that's how I would do it
220. 42:52uhw pow paw pow Paw Paw pow walk it W did you run out of ideogram credits for video ideogram doesn't do video does it I don't think it
221. 43:07does you mean for doing the masks I just like I I am a fan of doing image generation within the context of a
222. 43:23conversation unless if I want if I want want really sexy art I go to Mid Journey but I actually don't like it as much as
223. 43:35being able to talk about a whole story or a whole concept or a whole marketing plan and then make images within the
224. 43:43context of that I love that like that for me is a reason to you to pay the 20 bucks to chat GPT that to me is the
225. 43:52reason cuz no one else does it quite as good as they do um but if you want just higher quality art then use mid
226. 44:00Journey so could you have done it with your company software instead not really so my company software is about telling a specific
227. 44:11story so it's more about the narrative Arc with Story vine and and it's we create these sort of fixed narrative
228. 44:18Frameworks so if it's a diagnosis Journey we we would say segment one is where the person introduces themselves and two is where they um
229. 44:27where they talk about getting diagnosed and three is where they talk about their treatment and for right so it's this
230. 44:33prescriptive kind of story arc I could make a storyvine template for that but Story vine only makes sense
231. 44:40if you're going to make the same kind of thing over and over and over again so I could absolutely put together a story
232. 44:47Vine template that takes 10 you know some number of second long clips and stitches them together in that really
233. 44:55nice way but then if I want to to do 11 or if I want to do eight it's just not a flexible it's just not it's just not as
234. 45:03as as good it's not as flexible it's designed for replicable stories that that are you can get some efficiencies
235. 45:11of scale chat GPT helps me so much with my contracts yeah it's it's amazing I'm the the thing that I'm most impressed
236. 45:18with with all these large language models is their ability to analyze other documents analyze synthesize recombinate is recombinate a word I
237. 45:29think it is I don't think I used it in the right context but you know whatever I have a degree in acting and I have no
238. 45:36qualifications to be running this channel so what are you going to do well we just might sue you we just might sue you for uh uh false
239. 45:45representation I think it's what they call it in the legal department all right
240. 46:06oh that reminds me of the Steely Dan song Peg I think I love Steely Dan your sound effects are always awesome those mouth
241. 46:18sounds um there was there was a comedian named Rich Hall in the 80s and he came out with a book called

246. 47:08something shitty in in in my words in Kyle words with a with this small language model and and then I go just just rewrite it
247. 47:21give me 10 different versions of that and then I'll just read them all and I'm like no none of those are mine and then
248. 47:27and then I like okay I like this little phrase here I like this little phrase here so I Frankenstein I I use it as kind of a Frankenstein
249. 47:35editor but man it's this is one of the one of the challenges of large language models is an embarrassment of riches
250. 47:46where it generates so much content that sifting through it and finding the [ __ ] that doesn't suck is actually kind of

397. 1:16:27dudes for Harris call was Jeff Bridges talking about being the dude with a bunch of dudes it was very cool it was very cool
398. 1:16:42um so while I was watching that and I'm I'm just sort of flicking through Twitter trying to figure out you know
399. 1:16:49did anything go on in AI today um my Twitter timeline was just full of Runway ml video again because Runway finally

405. 1:17:52and then you're prompt and then D- sref srf space random and you turn down stylization and weirdness all the
406. 1:18:05way to zero because if you have them on it the the the Styles don't seem to work um and then because you've got a style
407. 1:18:18ref of random it just picks these cool things so the prompt here starting with these four the word was
408. 1:18:32fundamental and then here are some fundamentals here are fundamentals like these are really cool images like you know inks Splat
409. 1:18:49images and so that style reference for for that image is there's a specific number there but it randomly picked that
410. 1:18:58number those are all fundamental the the only the only prompt the only word in the prompt is fundamental oh my God Kyle I just
411. 1:19:09realized why the puzzle piece showed why you picked fundamental or the random option generated no I I I just thought what is a what is an
412. 1:19:23interesting conceptual word that isn't really a visual word that mid Journey could potentially understand so I picked

429. 1:22:07like two weeks later I was on some other call and Vicki said oh you should try srf random and it's just a random style
430. 1:22:14reference and like those two things just I just went went into mid Journey one day and typed in a single word typed in
431. 1:22:23that and then I I literally copied and pasted that prompt like 10 times in a row and so it created 40 images all in
432. 1:22:32different styles and that's that's sort of what this is this is that exploration um these are fundamental these are
433. 1:22:43fundamental these are fundamental I love this this style ref is [ __ ] gorgeous

489. 1:33:06sref in the in the little search bar sref there's all of my srfs right and I can just scroll down through them and go find cool ones um
490. 1:33:17but but again I would just seriously like just experiment just use Sr random and just see what comes up like so here
491. 1:33:26so then I changed um this is a new word so the new word here is fluid so single word prompt of fluid srf
492. 1:33:35random and there's there's the first four in that style I don't I hate the color palette um and I kind of hate the
493. 1:33:44style but it's like they're kind of cool it's not something I would come up with it's not something I would
494. 1:33:49choose and then there's another one these feel very cliche to me they feel like very cliche watercolor they're nice
495. 1:33:56but they're not me and then these came up and I'm like holy [ __ ] [ __ ] so this is the word fluid but it's a different srf style
496. 1:34:08reference right like isn't it astounding that these four Images 1 2 3 4 and these four images and these four Images are all the
497. 1:34:25same word it doesn't make any [ __ ] sense what you're what you're doing when you use Sr random is you're essentially
498. 1:34:33surfing the latent space and if you don't know what the latent space is the way that Transformer models work when they ingest
499. 1:34:45data they put it into this thing called the latent space which is essentially thousand dimensional mathematical space
500. 1:34:55with clusters of similar things so in the case of words it's semantic clusters in the in the case of images I guess
501. 1:35:03it's images that are tagged with the same [ __ ] in them um so when you're using an srf random it's basically sort
502. 1:35:10of just dropping you into the middle of this thousand dimensional space and just pulling out some visual styles that are
503. 1:35:18from that section of the of the mathematical Universe crazy right um the these are fluid these are fluid these These are
504. 1:35:29much more literal fluid there's a list of a th000 FRS codes in IR regulars if you search for srf there you go these
505. 1:35:36are kind of pretty not something I would use but you know they've kind of got a Salvador Dolly kind of hyper real or
