56. 15:04easily uh but that is so boring to set up it's not like zappier yeah I would think that's like zappier how's the

64. 16:33reason idiots all right can you talk about the new co-pilot laptop recently announced I don't know a ton about it I
65. 16:40can tell you what I know um they're calling it Coop co-pilot plus PC it is a it's part of their surface line which is I guess the Microsoft
66. 16:56equivalent of the MacBook Airline cuz they were comparing it to the MacBook Air with a with a an M3 chip in it which
67. 17:04is that's a pretty baller Mac and it was doing I don't know two or three times faster kind of operations
68. 17:13than the Mac was with the AI stuff so um they have a CPU in it a GPU in it and an npu a neuro processing unit
69. 17:29and what the big deal about that is is they can do all of the AI processing without taking up your CPU and GPU
70. 17:39Cycles so for example you could be playing a video game that's hogging up your GPU and still talk to Microsoft
71. 17:49co-pilot while you're playing your game and it could help you so the example that they showed was a guy playing
72. 17:54Minecraft who was clueless like if I played Minecraft and then the AI was just his assistant his real-time assistant talking there um
73. 18:06so that's a pretty big deal the other thing that it allows is a thing that they've announced called recall which is the feature of your
74. 18:23nightmares it remembers everything you do on your computer and it allows you to basically search anything you've done on your computer
75. 18:33visual or otherwise and um that's obviously a feature that um privacy is a big issue and so the fact that it's processing all this
76. 18:47AI stuff locally is what what makes that a potentially interesting product actually was contemplating the Galaxy s24 Ultra but they added
77. 18:59the AI components to the s22 ultra yeah I don't I don't I wouldn't rush to get anything that's that's AI powered right now
78. 19:14um the the initial the initial the initial Hardware is going to suck it's the like it it's going to get
79. 19:22so much better so like in general when you've got new hardware architectures like this I'd wait for version two or
80. 19:29three so maybe in 2025 when these things cycle cycle through an iteration or two that's what I would
81. 19:38do um but I don't know I'm I'm a Mac guy and an iPhone guy so I don't know anything about the the uh the Android
82. 19:47ecosystem at all I mean I know that I know that Samsung is is gaining a really good reputation for good hardware
83. 19:56and good software but you know I wasn't rushing for 1300 bucks no cost upgrade I usually wait two versions minimum yeah I I would probably
84. 20:05wait ah so I can play a game in VR mod here and co-pilot and co-pilot can organize my ADHD thoughts that's the
85. 20:14promise cam Kat can that that's kind of what they were what they were talking about is that um they've got this
86. 20:21co-pilot app which is effectively like the chat GPT app is on Mac and uh it just sits there and and you know is
87. 20:32is your assistant so yeah I that that's kind of the promise of it now we will find out um in what is it it's a 22nd two or three
88. 20:45weeks when's the Apple developer conference is that early June or late June I think it's I think it's early June isn't it worldwide DC
89. 20:59June 10th June 10th so seven eight days from now and then 10 after that so week and a week and no two and a half
90. 21:08weeks yeah two and a half weeks we'll know what Apple's going to probably be launching in the fall so we're not going to we're not
91. 21:16going to be able to play with anything from Apple as far as I can tell till at least September that's when they do their
92. 21:24that's when they'll they'll announce the iOS [ __ ] in June and then developers will kick the tires on it over the summer and then they'll
93. 21:34they'll probably launch some version of it in September I think that's how they do and honest to God if Apple doesn't
94. 21:43announce something big with AI I'm gonna I'm gonna blow a gasket uh I'm built to have an assistant and I miss having one I can delegate
95. 21:57like it's a superpower that's awesome Silver Fox I I've always been I've always been um I've been the worst hirer of
96. 22:09assistance in the history of hiring assistants because my problem is I assume that my assistants understand what's happening in my head I
97. 22:21don't articulate what I need very well so I think if I had a little digital assistant it would be better I could just go go do this
98. 22:29and it would just sort of go to no just do it 20 times oh lordy lordy lordy lordy lordy all right I always get myself a new
99. 22:43phone on my son's birthday in September oh that's yeah that that might be interesting he's not a fan yeah sorry sorry son you don't get a
100. 22:54present again hey you want to see my cool new phone oh I had one for years who understood me perfectly I've never had an assistant
101. 23:04that understood me perfectly oh so I just and and it's like I I accept full responsibility that having a good assistant is largely
102. 23:15dependent on you being a good communicator and for whatever reason I just never did that well yep I would
103. 23:22need a mind reader yeah exactly it's like so clear up here and I know I said it but I think the words that come out are
104. 23:31like could you do a thing and then they try to do a thing and I'm like no that's not the thing that was in here it can't be
105. 23:46fun ah when you trust it for a day then ask it for something once in public what's that the the uh the uh
106. 23:59the thing the recall system yeah it's I it's Google said public gems are coming today public gems as in gem like
107. 24:15colloquial colloquial for something cool or gems like a product called gems with the chat GPT 40 wouldn't that
108. 24:25make the rabbit R1 obsolete I I don't think it would actually I I I mean technically the iPhone makes this
109. 24:35thing obsolete right because you can do on the iPhone essentially what you can do here if but if this thing had um if this thing had the GPT
110. 24:4840 um sort of instant response cuz right now right now it's not bad so um write me a poem about quantum mechanics
111. 25:002000 in the realm of particles Smalls Quantum laws govern them all super positions curious Dan but if if that were a third of a second like
112. 25:13the you know like the the open AI demo or even half a second if it were four times faster that in in
113. 25:19response and it you know had emotion and things like that I like this form factor I love just this single button you know
114. 25:29click now could they do that with the iPhone they could do that with the iPhone like does it justify having this
115. 25:36look you shake it and you get the you get the uh settings and you shake them to go away um I don't know I don't know I'm I'm I
116. 25:50am I'm still up in the air with this thing I I love the form factor I think it's beautiful there where their weak is in
117. 25:59their software and what I think they should do is just punt on building software and just make cool little
118. 26:05devices like this like imagine a smaller version of this that hung around your I mean and that's sort of what the Humane
119. 26:11pin is but I don't know there's something kind of cool about it it's something it it um it warms my Nostalgia
120. 26:21cockles everything works well in a demo form over function great form yeah exactly it really is is it's it's good form it's it's really nice
121. 26:33form and now that I have a swell actually you know what I should do now that Vicki made me the swell stand I'll put it up here and I know

131. 28:13something tangible and beautiful how do people come up with such UniQue Ideas it's a fascinating subject don't you
132. 28:19think I think it's even more fascinating now that AI can help me come up with ideas and I no longer have writer block
133. 28:26she's going to like that oh yes AI has certainly changed the creative landscape hasn't it it's like having a trusted brainstorming partner
134. 28:38that never gets tired or runs out of ideas and less writers block that's a major Plus for all creatives have you
135. 28:47found AI to be helpful in your creative Endeavors yeah it's a game changer let me ask you something can you only
136. 28:54understand the text of what I'm saying or can you hear the inflection of my voice [Music] currently I can only understand the text
137. 29:05of what you're saying I don't have the capability so so that's the thing the the thing that if if you if you haven't
138. 29:11been paying insanely close attention to what open ai's been talking about and launching the one of the biggest deals
139. 29:20about the real-time voice stuff that's coming is it's not just understanding your text so what what they've done
140. 29:28Everly with pie is it it kind of mimics emotional stuff and based on the content of what you say it will sometimes
141. 29:36respond like I told it once that U my mother was in hospice and her response was like oh no no no no no like she got
142. 29:45really animated um but it's based on the content the new gp4 it can actually understand your inflection so it can understand if
143. 29:57you're you're breathing heavy or if you're Whispering or if you're excited uh and then it can it can match the tone
144. 30:04so um so it's and and it's um the average response time of the new system is supposed to be 320 milliseconds so a
145. 30:14third of a second and human response time is on average about 250 milliseconds so we're within a tenth of
146. 30:22a second less than a tenth of a second of human response time is what's coming from open AI now I can go to open AI right
147. 30:31now I can go to chat GPT so this is the chat GPT IOS app hey how's it going 2 1000 3 1000 4 1000 response one

153. 31:40now sorry my brain's already moved on we're going to change the subject now the new the new talkie thing is going to be good at
154. 31:55that ah oh wait will it will Pi still need to play tones before answering well those tones where it goes
155. 32:07or whatever it's doing um are where it's searching the internet um I think if they program them cleverly
156. 32:17like even if you ask it to search the internet like the rabbit does this pretty well what's some music coming up live in
157. 32:31Denver this weekend looking it up now so they looking it up now it it like this weekend in Denver there are numerous
158. 32:40live music events across various genres so like while it was starting the search it was saying looking it up now so it sounds like it's you
159. 32:50know right on I'm right on that bus while it's doing the searching in the background so if they do that cleverly you won't you won't need to
160. 33:01have um audio audio signals like that that it's that it's off doing something on its own um here's the problem with Pi Pi is
161. 33:10from a company called inflection inflection um was a pretty big deal company technically still is founded by
162. 33:19Reed Hoffman and two other Founders technical Founders and um they raised 1.3 billion with a B dollars and then Microsoft just kind of
163. 33:33unceremoniously just hired away the two co-founders and most of the staff it's all about user perceived latency yeah
164. 33:41exactly Pate so if if the if if you've got a model that can respond really quickly like the new GPT 40 model or the
165. 33:49new Google what's it called uh begins with an a uh that seemed to be doing it pretty fast cuz it's truly multimodal as
166. 33:57well if You' got a quick model and then you do some of that clever programming then your P your perceived latency is essentially
167. 34:07zero uh Pi main chant can't see what's in Threads but it thinks it can yeah Pi hallucinates a lot it's been very good
168. 34:14for me being forced to wait for her to finish speaking I know I've had to learn how to talk differently with these tools
169. 34:22latency is very decent the latency on the rabbit's actually really good I don't I don't know quite how they
170. 34:28did it cuz it's they're using old models like the latency on the rabbit's way well I guess it's because they're using
171. 34:34probably llama 3 or perplexity or [Music] something like your new walkie-talkie thing yeah it's very much like a
172. 34:47walkie-talkie that's that's what I like about it that's the Nostalgia piece of it okay um
173. 35:01let's let's go look at some [ __ ] we might end up writing a song because I just I I'm I'm I'm I'm enamored a bit with the
174. 35:15music generation tools right now because they are quick and they are pretty good and they keep adding little subtle
175. 35:30improvements to them and that's always I'm always a sucker for that when things go eight months without an upgrade it it
176. 35:38it bores the [ __ ] out of me seems like Pi plays tones to say generic things like doing well but I'll try again
177. 35:49yeah Pi's going to get better anyway the the challenge with P the problem with inflection is I don't know like I I don't don't

193. 39:03unpacking if you're a GPT plus member you now have three different models you've got GPT 3.5 which is super fast
194. 39:11but not great you have GPT 4 which is slow and that's the one we've loved for whatever 6 nine months a year and then we've got this new gp4
195. 39:23Omni model um I in gp4 Omni I can say um make me a picture of a 70s muscle car in an abandoned Factory with sunlight
196. 39:37streaming through the broken windows and it will make an image but it's not making the image with its own model it's going outside and
197. 39:50using Dolly 3 so it's still the old image generation thing and if you talk to it it's still the old voice model so it doesn't have
198. 40:04any of the new fancy ass [ __ ] in it if we click here see this is all the old this is all the old stuff um make it green
199. 40:32played with chat GPT for 3 hours today went back to early days of coming up with absurb prompts had fun so TK that's

210. 42:25we've got something that sounds kind of close it's a different actress it's not her so here it is if they'd done that
211. 42:32none of this would be fine right like this is a this was a they just thought they could get away with it like typical Tech [ __ ]

215. 43:22on uh let's see open AI they cut a deal with News Corp announcing a multi-year partnership with News Corp to enhance chat GPT with
216. 43:38its premium journalism so they're going to do some sort of rag kind of searching retrieval augmented generation where um it can go
217. 43:48search for news stories and pull them up as news stories I'm mad we lost Sky yeah I am too because sky was not Scarlet
218. 43:57Hansson it was clearly an actress that they hired to sound like her or who already sounded like her and they you
219. 44:04know gave it all the friendliness of the her character Samantha but it's not her so and and then this this begs the question does
220. 44:16does any actress that sounds like Scarlet Johansson are they not allowed to use their voice right but that's
221. 44:22that's not the issue the issue is it was just handled poorly from a communication standpoint Point um this was the deal or this was a
222. 44:31deal that open AI was in with with uh the New York Times to do a deal just like this one and that's shortly after Google cut
223. 44:43a deal with them and then and then the New York Times said nah [ __ ] it we're suing them so they're in the middle of
224. 44:51negotiations when when the New York Times said we're going to sue you for for training on our content so the these
225. 44:58sort of a a landmark multi- year Global partnership I wonder if they say how much it was I I doubt it through the partnership open AI is
226. 45:10permission to display content from News Corp Mast heads in response to user questions and enhance its products with
227. 45:17the ultimate objective of providing people the ability to make informed choices based on reliable information and news sources
228. 45:28content from the major Publications including the Wall Street Journal Barons market watch investors daily financial news or uh yeah
229. 45:37FN um New York Post the times the Sunday Times the son Australian The Daily Telegraph The Courier mail The Advertiser and the herald
230. 45:51son we believe it's historic said Robert Thompson our partnership is a proud moment for journalism we greatly value news corpse
231. 46:02thing so yeah so anyway they didn't say how much the deal was but that's a decently big deal it's a big deal you know

239. 47:15this is re what this really is is for open AI to be able to point to other sources and say Here's the answer of the
240. 47:24question you asked for you know we may or may not have pulled you know info from some of these news stories and then
241. 47:34in the ideal World here's News Corp here's New York Times here's that sort of thing right Kyle I know you got Sam's number
242. 47:42tell him to give scarjo what she wants I well I one of the things that I thought was that um you know open I would just
243. 47:50go back and like 10x what they offered her but now that they now that they did this stupid move and pissed her off she
244. 47:58she'll likely never do it but it would be smart of them I mean if they did an announcement like this with a major
245. 48:05actor or a major actress right or musicians to say hey you know the voice of this is by Chris Rock and the voice
246. 48:14of this is by Jennifer Lawrence and the you know right that could be that could be really interesting I I would assume at some

424. 1:22:02um actual company data as well as the conversational piece as well as being able to take action when we have
425. 1:22:09autonomous agents and reasoning and the ability to um accurately pull in data from a from a company's database and and we're we're likely
426. 1:22:18going to have that combination before the year's out if if not middle of next year so within the the next two years
427. 1:22:26that combination of capabilities is going to effectively wipe out customer call centers right or at least give the
428. 1:22:34possibility of it so if a technology comes along that that is so good that it wipes out an entire sector then I think
429. 1:22:43we're going to start to see things like politicians being forced into some sort of Ubi um it's possible that we see three
430. 1:22:53or four sectors kind of collapse in in a very short amount of time um and and you know then I think it it would happen
431. 1:23:03um but we'll see we'll see Sam Alman he he was he was asked about this about a month ago or I don't know three weeks ago
432. 1:23:13and he talked about he thinks more than um Universal basic income we might want to um provide un ival basic compute
433. 1:23:26UBC and I saw a lot of people bitching about that like they were like oh he's not giving out the money you know he now

435. 1:23:40listen to what he was actually talking about what he was talking about was you know let's say there are whatever you

437. 1:23:57better at coming up with some calculation but let's say let's let's say there's some amount of compute that that we've we've developed
438. 1:24:05these server farms and we've developed energy to the point that that there's enough capacity for every person on Earth to have X amount of
439. 1:24:14compute well there's there's a number of ways that you can you can exploit that one is you could use all that compute
440. 1:24:22and start up a, person company the equivalent of a thousand person company using all your compute cycles and you
441. 1:24:30could go be productive in the world with your company that you started there's another way that you could do that is
442. 1:24:36you could say I'm going to start a 10p person company the equivalent of a 10p person company I'm going to take all my
443. 1:24:42extra compute and I'm going to you know let anyone who doesn't have enough compute buy that from me and that's part
444. 1:24:48of my income is going to be I'm going to give away my compute and then I'm going to use some of it and and so that so
445. 1:24:56what he was talking about was a much more Dynamic access to where the value is going to be generated in this in this
446. 1:25:03new modern society and if you need to monetize that and turn that into money you can do that or if you want to be
447. 1:25:10ambitious and use those compute cycles for you know making a business you can do that so I don't know I like
448. 1:25:19like we haven't seen a system yet that's good enough to that that this conversation is really a thing um but I
449. 1:25:28think that probably by the end of the year maybe by mid next year uh on the tail end we'll probably start to see systems where we can we
450. 1:25:38can we can predict which Industries are going to hit going to get hit hard um and maybe prepare for it but I

492. 1:31:44it means ask for help so that you give someone else the chance to teach what they know it means stepping into a leadership
493. 1:31:54position at your job and and being on the AI you know committee or or or you know starting an after school AI Club at
494. 1:32:06your school that doesn't let you talk about AI Mr K you should start a a Saturday AI in in your District you know off school
495. 1:32:20property do it at a library somewhere um so so that's what this group's about so if you go to the salon. it's going to
496. 1:32:31take you to a link tree and then it'll drop you into the AI Salon which is a it's it's a you know it's a web-based

503. 1:33:45front-end web developer or a copywriter as the tools get better and better anyone can do the skill part anyone can do the Tactical
504. 1:33:56execution so who gets hired you don't hire someone because they're a copywriter you hire someone because you
505. 1:34:04like how they work you like hanging out with them you know that you've worked with them before and so communities like
506. 1:34:12the AI Salon are where people can come and play first and develop those chops and develop those skills but more
507. 1:34:19importantly develop those relationships so oh by by the way the AI Salon is free if you're sitting there thinking like
508. 1:34:26how much is this thing Kyle it's it sounds great and all but you know I don't have $500 a month for your for your silly little
509. 1:34:35Community it's free but it's not free I would say that the the cost of entry for the salon is be engaged introduce yourself and introduce
510. 1:34:48yourself generously like hey who's here's who I am here's what I do here's what I've learned about AI here's
511. 1:34:56where I'm totally clueless can anyone help that kind of introduction is a big deal we this this idea is so important
512. 1:35:05that we we have two meetings a month we have a meeting on the first Tuesday of the month and the third T Tuesday of the
513. 1:35:12month we've dedicated one of those two monthly meetings or bi bi-weekly meetings or twice monthly meetings we've dedicated it for people
514. 1:35:21introducing themselves so it's a big deal so do that and then you know this idea of play first if you go to this there's
515. 1:35:30a section underneath introduce yourself called play first and this is a list that I maintain of tools but what what
516. 1:35:38we've got is this little Manifesto of play first then move into this mode of mindfully create and then move into the mode of generously
517. 1:35:48lead and and these three kind of phases of evolution with AI literacy I think that we're all going to cycle through these over and over and
518. 1:36:00over again we'll sort of play First with new music tools and we'll play with them and see which ones are good and it's
519. 1:36:06sunno and now it's udio and now it's this and now it's that and that and then at some point we'll get good enough with
520. 1:36:12that we're like you know what I'm going to do some soundtracks for some video projects we're going to move in and
521. 1:36:17mindfully create things and then maybe we get good enough at that that we're like you know what I want to start an
522. 1:36:22agency to do this kind of music and turn it around quickly and and I'm really excited about it I'm going to turn that
523. 1:36:28into something I'm going to partner with someone I'm going to teach other people how to do it so that's there and then below that
