29. 6:45learning here we don't do much in the way of book learning we don't have a certificate yet and if you came here looking for you

32. 7:21deeply deeply about some stuff that I'm working on deeply deeply authentically I shared about some some work I'm doing on
33. 7:31myself and I think that was good people seem to appreciate it um I always get a little weird about that stuff cuz Tik Tok can get really
34. 7:44weirdly self-indulgent and I think it's you know it's like I I I want to strike a balance so we're not going to be going

37. 8:10live um and I also posted a a decent chunk of the live from last night as my latest post on Tik Tok and then Tik Tok
38. 8:22is really [ __ ] pissing me off like like my videos lately they they go from like you know zero views to 150
39. 8:33views then the minute they hit 200 just boom they stop dead and then it's like five views every you know five minutes
40. 8:41so I don't know why I'm being throttled but Tik Tok makes me [ __ ] cranky speaking of book learning Kyle has a

43. 9:06very cool woman she's a futurist and so she got together a bunch of people she thought were cool and said

45. 9:23camp we have so much to think about like even even this so so last night you know I was I was uh waxing poetic about you
46. 9:31know who I'm going to be in the world moving forward which which you know um was was interesting and then
47. 9:40while I was doing that chat GPT per my prediction um dropped a new uh dropped a new feature and and uh I didn't think they
48. 9:51would drop it on a Friday night and and they did they did to some people so it's not fully out there yet um but it's this idea that you can
49. 10:01incorporate a GPT into your chat session right and and that is just it goes back to that thing that we talked about last night a little bit
50. 10:13about um the statement Sam Alman made in Davos that chat pt4 is best understood as a preview and the the other thing about
51. 10:27gpts being callable inside a a chat session is that they're kind of like baby autonomous agents so I think I think I think open
52. 10:44AI given us training wheels um they could also just be flailing and not know what the [ __ ] they're doing with with
53. 10:51launching a consumer product that that is also a very real possibility what are you going to do cuz the uh the GPT store is such a
54. 11:05pile of trash it's not even like a dumpster fire it's just it's just it's not even a store it's just a shitty web page oh my
55. 11:15God wait two and a half months for that woo it's Sam Sam called Tik Tock and told them to throttle that's what it is
56. 11:27Amelio's wife it's that's that's the thing is you know the minute you rais 10 billion from from Microsoft it's like it

69. 13:20you think about the implications of don't don't worry so much about well we we'll we'll get into like like the implications of it are
70. 13:31just crazy like how I how we navigate incorporating all this stuff together is like mind baffing bafflingly
71. 13:46complicated except for the fact that we forget that we have ai so if if you think about sitting down and
72. 13:54saying okay what gpts did I make and how am I going to incorporate them into my chat session just fast forward for 6 months
73. 14:03or a year and chat GPT will dynamically be assembling agents for us so we we're not going to have to think about it

94. 18:10cool yeah listen I I think the gpts are are really interesting and and it it's just that it's just that right
95. 18:21now they they have limited audience limited use but the idea of so so one of the things that very few people took
96. 18:33advantage of with chat GPT were custom instructions so custom instructions you could basically put in a a persistent
97. 18:42prompt so that chat GPT would just behave a certain way and no one really took advantage of that it's there for both 3.5 users and
98. 18:51four users and whenever I taught it people were like oh this is new and exciting gpts let you do that but save
99. 18:58them as separate things and because you can put your own knowledge base in there like it really does allow you to create
100. 19:03these specialized little little tools um but yeah they're just they're just janky right now so so I think doing anything commercial on them
101. 19:14is silly but doing building them right now is not silly understanding what they can do and what they are I'm of two minds about Gemini go on

108. 20:49own data is a big one you can create a an 8,000 word prompt that is persistent you can share it with other people so they can play with
109. 21:05it um so there's there's a fair amount of things it can do now does it have capabilities Beyond chat gpt's
110. 21:20capabilities no it's built on it but the fact that you can upload your own data you can upload thank you empowered um the fact that you can
111. 21:29upload your own data if you wanted to do that previously you had to use something like Lang chain like you essentially had
112. 21:34to be an engineer to be able to train anything on your own data we took a 50 page incomprehensible sales process document
113. 21:45from my company Story vine we've been around for 11 and a half years our sales process document is we're a small
114. 21:51company so it's just like every time we added a new rule we just dumped it into this thing right so it's just
115. 21:57incomprehensible at this point it's big it's it's got a lot of stuff in it it's hard to parse and we just uploaded that into a
116. 22:06GPT and so now if you have a question about our sales process you can just ask it like chat GPT can't do that I mean it
117. 22:14sort of can you can you can upload something to it you know on a chatby chat basis but you can't have a
118. 22:20persistent thing where you just like hey what's going on with the sales process do you think DNA every I I don't
119. 22:28what it is about the pinning tonight it's like whatever the default length of pins is is 4 seconds shorter than I need
120. 22:36it to be every time I look at a pinned comment I'm I read the first two words and it goes so again whoever pinned that could you repin
121. 22:46[Laughter] please it sounds like my uh my internet might be sucking here too do you think DNA and organic Computing
122. 23:01will play a significant role in AI Evolution I don't know a ton about it um I think DNA as as a data storage um mechanism is really
123. 23:17interesting and wild and very science fictiony um they're making some pretty interesting progress with with with
124. 23:28Organic Computing right now with you know neurons that are functioning you know on a uh on a slide basically or in a in a you know in
125. 23:42a in a non skull environment so probably yes but probably not shortterm I think I think what what is
126. 23:58more likely to happen is AI as we know it some version of AI chat G bt5 or whatever the next you know the next thing beyond the Transformer
127. 24:11model is um we'll start to make breakthroughs in every area of Science and one of those areas will be in DNA storage and
128. 24:22organic Computing that's probably what'll happen I don't know I'm just mansplaining at this point I'm clueless on that but you know
129. 24:31interesting stuff what's the best format to upload data into GPT for best results it depends it depends on what you want to
130. 24:39do if it's if it's um if you want to use code interpreter then you know csvs or Excel files are good but you can upload Word documents
131. 24:50you can upload PDFs you can upload pictures obviously because it's GPT Vision so it dep depends what you want to do but I
132. 25:05think I think there's three basic kinds of things you can upload right there's data files like csvs there's text documents and then
133. 25:20there's images and then the text documents get weird because and the the text document and images gets weird gets weird because some PDFs
134. 25:30are like screenshots of of text documents but they're actually images so in that case it's using GPT Vision some PDFs have text in them um
135. 25:44some PDFs have text in them and images in them sometimes the images in them are charts and graphs um so it's it's kind of nuanced right
136. 25:56now you kind of need to know kind of need to know what you're trying to accomplish and what's your Source
137. 26:02data and then figure out how to prompt it so all right it's really janky on my side skipping like crazy tonight
138. 26:11probably hurting pinning ah okay interesting oh yeah that's probably what's happening is if it Janks out
139. 26:17while you've got something pinned it probably pulls it down um is anyone else having um weird um skips and like am I janky am I like
140. 26:32stuttering and freezing lots of breakthroughs in robotic AI made of biological components they're called
141. 26:40organoids I know crazy I've been in HPC for a while the uploading seems to be a problem with my work oh that's

148. 27:53past challenge my declarations it would it's it actually I I'll tell you what but if they do it's actually going to be
149. 28:03really good practice for me not to go into defensiveness shame I'm less than all that sort of stuff so bring it

155. 29:09into something I've got really bad integrity and that's not good Integrity is integrity you know and integrity is not
156. 29:19good or bad it's just either something is in Integrity or not it's whole or it's not um and so so part of what I'm looking at right now

178. 33:31it and if you think that being out of Integrity is bad then that's a that's a a lovely opportunity to jump into a shame
179. 33:46prison out of Integrity is just out of Integrity it means not whole so you can make a commitment to be an integrity and then when you notice

181. 34:11out of Integrity I'd like to propose a new agreement are you okay with that it's not good or bad it's just you're in Integrity or you're not
182. 34:25so I would encourage you to go look up the definition of it because it's not about morality and it's not about ethics it's just it just

184. 34:51Integrity or you're not it's not good or bad now could you hurt someone's feelings if you're out of Integrity

197. 37:09holder and you can slide the cards in the little front it's got two little tabs in the front see like that and then it's got a
198. 37:19little pocket so these are the ones that I wrote [ __ ] on and it's got a little pocket for blank ones so if I have some
199. 37:26brilliant [ __ ] idea and so that just sits in my pocket and they don't get all [ __ ] destroyed so I'm such a [ __ ] nerd

219. 41:10good practice it's good preparation for what we're going to face with AI right we learned you can just make up new rules about how work
220. 41:23works so when AI gets so capable that it can do all of our jobs for us at least in the knowledge work and the creative
221. 41:37Arenas we can make up new [ __ ] will we question what is that AI you showcased you showed the other day that
222. 41:50makes 360 images can it be used for VR it can it's YY so let me here let me show you that cam if you go to the um to
223. 42:03the AI salon and go into um AI tools and resources and I'll I'll show you all how to how to get here in a second um it's down in the 3D

282. 52:07maintain and so this is chat GPT is still the best so that's first so what I try what I what I do try to do in this
283. 52:17list is put things in here that are not going to be a waste of your time are worth you spending time learning
284. 52:26in and if you want to be AI literate you should probably at least understand the tools in the different
285. 52:34sections you don't have to use them all but you should probably understand you should probably go play with them most
286. 52:39of them have some version of a like a free version that you can do something with them even even the image tools the video tools less
287. 52:54so the mods you ever go you go you ever go into a live as a mod and forget you're a mod and forget to pin [ __ ] of
288. 53:04course the the fact that you guys do what you do blows my mind because it's like it it is it's a it's a
289. 53:14it's a multitasking thing that I'm not good at multitasking I'm good at fast context switching but sort of I'm mono mono Monas I'm a
290. 53:27monaster I don't I don't think um multitasking actually exists I think multitaskers are fooling themselves I think it's just fast
291. 53:35context switching um but anyway this list you know there's music and audio there's 3D and there's even people to
292. 53:42follow so if you want to get literate about AI start with chat GPT um and when I say start with it I
293. 53:51mean start with it and like play with it like all what I did what I put in this list here is here are the things that
294. 53:58chat GPT 3.5 has here are the additional things that chat GPT 4 has every one of these bullets is like a
295. 54:07whole different software application but they're all integrated and so part of what we need to practice as people that are going to
296. 54:16play with these tools is understanding what's possible and one of the best ways to do that is just play
297. 54:25just go in and try to break it go in and do nonsensical [ __ ] like like one of the parlor tricks I do is I'll have it make
298. 54:33a table comparing two different things and so I'll just do nonsensical comparisons compare a gummy bear to
299. 54:41Sushi is one that I use and it does it like it it's just like and then when you see it do that you're like well nothing should be able
300. 54:51to make that comparison much less make it in 5 seconds and then and it does how far off are we from AI video being
301. 54:58believable for a full narrative Arc um close according to Matt wolf he thinks two to three months we're going to see
302. 55:09some very significant shifts in that I would say probably six months now I think in six months like within
303. 55:18six months we get the peace parts so so the the way AI is evolving right now is all of the tools right now are janky
304. 55:30pieces of [ __ ] and there's tons of them there's thousands of them right there are you know probably hundreds of
305. 55:41important ones and then there are tens of really important ones so so I try to keep what I what I feel are really
306. 55:48important ones on this list um I'm missing a lot but this will at least give you an overview of what's POS
307. 55:55possible what's going to start happening is certain tools on these on this list are going to become much more
308. 56:01powerful the video stuff in particular because video is complicated is we're going to go from being able to create 4
309. 56:08second Clips with no sound to 20 or 30 or 40 second Clips with sound um and you you'll still have to put them together
310. 56:19and then at some point probably 18 months there'll be systems that just automatically you know render the clips automatically assemble them
311. 56:30automatically write voiceovers automatically synthesize the voices like I you know probably within 18 months
312. 56:37we're we're at the point where you can just speak a video narrative into existence all right um Joy pretty yes I can recognize a a
313. 56:53joker image pretty quick it's so true um the other thing about um the AI Salon is you've got we've got guilds and So like um Scott uh Young
314. 57:07from the video Guild they had their first meeting today and I I don't know how that one I I didn't I couldn't
315. 57:13participate in it um but um all of the guilds have meetings and they they sort of sub communities within this so you

329. 59:41right now is they're making images in Del or mid Journey taking them into Runway turning them into videos and then
330. 59:47cutting them together into these in these kind of um into these kind of videos but but some uh some of these filmmakers are
331. 59:57doing you know real narrative this one's interesting I've seen this one [Music]

333. 1:00:39in fact there's so much jankiness in these I personally think that a lot of filmmakers are going to look at this

335. 1:00:52making and what's going to happen happen is these tools are going to get better and better and better and better and
336. 1:01:00they're going to get better fast what's the Sam Alman quote progress here is not linear so he's talking about the jump from G gp4 to GPT

338. 1:01:20exponential and so it doesn't just get like twice as good it gets like like 20 times as good or 30 times as good um so

340. 1:01:38here um partnered up with a band and is doing their music videos she's making these amazing videos um for this
341. 1:01:47band there's going to be a whole new raft of filmmakers hey Sher D there's going to be a whole new raft of filmm
342. 1:01:54makers that have never made a movie before and you know what I can promise you they will make movies that obliterate the rules of
343. 1:02:11Cinema and real filmmakers I'm and put that I'll do the air quotes thing real filmmakers will make fun of them

371. 1:07:52was all of a sudden has access to tools where all of the ideas they've had for 40 years can now be realized Sher was is a nurse but like

389. 1:11:00embracing this stuff they get really good at these AI tools really quickly and they're Reinventing themselves and then people who were not

586. 1:50:38an idea in my head to it existing in the world and if it exists in the world maybe I've got some idea in my head that
587. 1:50:46no one's ever thought of before and before AI that that idea never would have seen the light light of day for many many reasons but with

662. 2:03:49what we just saw but instead of generic stock video it's got It's all custom video living la laca that's
663. 2:04:01good like we're very close like I mean you can see the potent like that I I don't know I I personally find this so
664. 2:04:11[ __ ] exciting about AI right now is you can see the potential in almost every tool out there but they're all just janky enough that
665. 2:04:21everyone dismisses them as not useful and then a year from now like this time next year we're in a we're in a very
666. 2:04:33different this community is in a very different place how do our artists rely on their talents to make money and cut through
667. 2:04:42the Clutter and stay relevant the the same way that they always have Brandon I mean the the well there's
668. 2:04:53a artists artists can see what other people cannot okay
669. 2:05:14um what what artists will do is what artists have always done artists will use these tools in ways that other people can't
670. 2:05:29see right they'll just do something completely different they'll combine two forms that don't make sense
671. 2:05:37to combine or they'll take something from the virtual world and they'll manifest it in the real world or something from The Real World and
672. 2:05:45they'll manifest it here and they'll do it in a way that everyone at first looks at it and goes that doesn't make
673. 2:05:52sense and then a year later that becomes the way you do things and what's exciting is that
674. 2:06:09because the skill that everyone gets to level up their skills because AI levels them up people are going to there are artists
675. 2:06:21there are artists in the world today that gave up on self-expression for whatever reason they had to get a job they didn't have the
676. 2:06:34skills they didn't have the talent they believed it when their father said they'd never make it a lot of
677. 2:06:41them and they are artists whose voices are there are a bunch in this
678. 2:06:58community that are discovering holy [ __ ] I have a voice it's awe inspiring it's really [ __ ] inspiring you're like oh [ __ ] that's
679. 2:07:11amazing and and like what's amazing is you know the work that they're doing is amazing but what's more amazing is their awe that it's
680. 2:07:27possible I didn't think this was possible yeah it is okay got it I know what I'm doing the next year of my life there's going to be a lot of
681. 2:07:42artists the great Renaissance right there's going to be a lot of artists who have been zip it zip it zip
682. 2:07:50it how many humans how many people do you know that when they were told to zip it uh that's a little uncomfortable for
683. 2:08:01everyone why don't we go ahead and zip it that they actually zipped it and now they're 30 years into a
684. 2:08:10career they hate and along comes a tool that lets them unzip it I'm shy as heck so this helps a lot um and people will always want art it's
685. 2:08:23about filling the need yep absolutely absolutely and and whether you're shy or whether you're outgoing or whatever
686. 2:08:33everyone's got access to these tools and so so there are going to be people that you know there there are a lot of people
687. 2:08:40in here that one of one of the things that that I did early on was I assumed that a lot of people would would be
688. 2:08:47excited to get on camera and I'm like hey come up on stage and people are like no no no no I don't want to be on
689. 2:08:55stage but they are fully self-expressed with with these tools and they're fully contributing members of this community it's [ __ ]
690. 2:09:07wild wonder when art galleries will include well uh Moma has a big AI piece in it right now mom's got this it's like a big like 15 foot tall
691. 2:09:20AI generated blob that what it's a it's a cool concept they basically took pictures of all of the art in Moma and then the art
692. 2:09:30that's being generated is from all of the colors of the art that was sampled from Moma it's pretty slick yeah mom's got it yeah
693. 2:09:42exactly my dad is terrible at English chat GPT helps him write better understood structure emails yes
694. 2:09:52exactly the the the accessibility level up is crazy and accessibility doesn't just mean someone's handicapped right
695. 2:10:04accessibility means I can't speak a foreign language or I'm not good with grammar or I'm not good with spelling
696. 2:10:10right for for grammar and spelling we had grammar and spell check but for basic writing like if you're not good at structuring writing
697. 2:10:19it doesn't matter if you have grammar and spelling Checkers if you can't tell the story right if you can't structure
698. 2:10:25Communications well now you have a tool that'll do that that's an accessibility issue oh I would really like to be able
699. 2:10:32to express myself visually but I don't know any artist friends and I can't afford to pay them if I did and I I'm
700. 2:10:38not comfortable asking them for oh now you can just make images oh okay well it sure would be nice if I had some

702. 2:10:54us it's like there's it's like what AI is providing is onramps for every talent and skill AI is opening Us in ways that
