56. 14:59this is this is a bit of a burden for me anyway I seem to have a an aptitude for I can look at what's going on and what's
57. 15:13happening in the news and what's happening with the tools and stuff like that and I can I can quickly pattern
58. 15:21match and I can see where things are going and right now for the past two months the quality of the tools has hit
59. 15:36an exponential curve so the quality of the large language models is going up everything's as good as 01 preview now even the open source
60. 15:46stuff um all the new 04 and 05 and gp5 and whatever grock 3 all that shit's coming and then behind all that are
61. 15:57agents and we have you know little taste of Agents here and [Music] there my quantry

72. 18:36that I use the I mean I would say if there's one I go back to all the time it's chat GPT you know the Google apps are really
73. 18:48good but they're really fragmented really hard to find if you don't have solid bookmarking skills um good luck finding the Google
74. 18:57[ __ ] um Claude I just stopped using there's something about claude's interface I just don't like how it looks
75. 19:04some people swear by Claude I just I think I imprinted on chat GPT um perplexity I'll occasionally use but I lost my I got a year of free
76. 19:17perplexity Pro when I bought my rabbit and that's now expired so I don't feel like spending 20 bucks a month for
77. 19:24perplexity Pro because I didn't really use it I used it occasionally I use mid Journey all the time I use 11 Labs all the time I use H
78. 19:36Jen all the time I spent today making video personas using ha Jen and 11 labs in my own acting voice I acted with these DED
79. 19:50tones I was like hello doctor you should come to my website and get product information and then I swapped out my voice for some

83. 20:32projects or whatever the [ __ ] that thing was called but like it still can't generate images it's still not connected to the
84. 20:40internet how is Claude not connected to the internet like what what what are you doing over there we're writing papers on AI safety
85. 20:52well it's certainly safe if you don't connect it to anything wasn't the whole point of that company to put things out in the world
86. 20:58to figure out what made them safe or not anyway the reinforcement advice have been great with GPT still learning new

112. 26:56they're actually profound that happened last night someone came in and they're like oh total Noob question here but
113. 27:03what's the difference between a custom GPT and chat GPT and it led to an hour straight of me trying to explain all of the different
114. 27:13ways that you could use chat gbt that brought that concept to life and that's that's kind of the state
115. 27:20we're at right now where the these tools are all getting very very sophisticated so um you can do small things with them
116. 27:27easily but but to really learn the capabilities of these tools is now a pretty heavy lift you have to have you
117. 27:35have to have what I'm what I'm calling hyper curiosity well I think other people use that word too what I'm calling what I'm calling
118. 27:47listen this is a concept I like to call walking if you know what I mean um I think you have to be hyper curious right
119. 27:57now and you have to be hyper [Music] adaptable I'm still trying to wrap my head around AGI being in view that so

127. 29:09stupid because these things always take longer than they say they're going to take but I just if you look at all the
128. 29:16charts of how much better how much more quickly these models are getting like dramatically good like they're getting so good so fast that
129. 29:27every time they come out with a new Benchmark the models exceed The Benchmark and they got to come out with new
130. 29:34benchmarks like we're moving the goalposts on AGI AGI and then depending on your definition ASI is right behind exactly [Music]

132. 29:58to know how to use this stuff I I don't I I mean like in the early days of the web we had a similar dilemma right you couldn't go
133. 30:09to school there you know user interface web user interface training education didn't exist um there were no books on any of the
134. 30:21tools you just had to figure the [ __ ] out but it was like HTML 1.0 and it was the hyperlink right and then if you wanted
135. 30:30to get really fancy you could learn flash flash animations and that was about as sophisticated as it got right you had to
136. 30:40write some backend code you had to hook some [ __ ] up but like all the way you know up through social
137. 30:50media and leading to about three years ago the web was this I mean it it got more complicated but there became you
138. 30:58know there became a whole industry to educate people on how to do web stuff and Social Media stuff and all all you know SEO this [Music]
139. 31:12AI what we what we have in our hands today are not the same tools we had two years ago they're like fundamentally different
140. 31:21tools deep research and um reasoning engines are not large language models I mean they're based on them they use them but they're not them
141. 31:35and how you use them and what you use them for is different and I to to your point Lori how are we supposed to know how is

165. 35:51GPT and one of the things if you're if you're new to chat GPT one of the things that um helps a lot is don't think that you
166. 36:03have to create the perfect prompt and it'll just spit out a course that's not how it works you have to give it a lot
167. 36:09of context and so you can do that by doing things like giving it a roll and so you know you are a um language education master um I
168. 36:23want five approaches to to creating a unique and compelling English as a
169. 36:41second language course and so just let it give you some different approaches right you like even if you don't if you don't know how to if
170. 36:54you don't know education Theory it's okay hey cat gbt has been trained on as much of the internet as they could smash
171. 37:02into it right so we've got 70 years of data smashed into this box it knows everything why is chat GPT still giving

186. 39:54exact same thing oh that's funny performance and roleplay fundamentals and structures um learning goals level
187. 40:06one listening and speaking 12-week course outline here you go level one 12we course outline foundations and
188. 40:12speaking and Theatrical expression power of expression emotions and Body Language what a cool way to learn a language
189. 40:19doing it with emotions and Body Language right you learn it in a completely different way conversational fluency in
190. 40:25everyday life and look every one of these has an emoji because emojis are where the what the hip kids use week
191. 40:33four actions and movement learning through verbs and acting beautiful tools and
192. 40:48resources beautiful and then I could say um canvas put level one in a canvas if you don't know what a canvas
193. 41:02is this is a canvas where it takes that curriculum that it generated and it makes it now it's an editable
194. 41:15document but you can even share this editable document so you could collaborate on this with with other people I think or if not you can go

204. 42:46get for free with chat gbt you pay the 20 bucks it's even more um it's just [ __ ] nuts um have I made any AI
205. 42:55agents yet which ones do you use I have not yet I'm I'm waiting for there to be a real framework I just the building an
206. 43:03AI agent right now feels kind of like open source to me where there's just too many options and it's too much work and
207. 43:10whatever I build is just going to be irrelevant when a when an agent framework comes along that just lets you
208. 43:16build them like you build a custom GPT so I'm just kind of waiting I don't you know I there's no need for us to rush

241. 50:43focuses on emoji insertion and it's working that one's working great the actual function of chat GPT not working
242. 50:51at all but man the the Emoji insertion is it's almost as good as when Twitter was called Twitter and they forced us to
243. 51:01learn how to use hashtags and which they've now told us we can't use because they're not necessary but we also can't call it Twitter

259. 54:59adoption scale things drive me [ __ ] crazy but I've been trying to figure out like what is it about what is it about people
260. 55:10using AI like like why does it feel like they're so far apart sometimes and so this this thing was just a way for me to
261. 55:19try to get my head around that um and I think it's I think it's useful so stage one on let's see you have open
262. 55:29chats oh on the bottom of LinkedIn thank you you can see who's dming me um stage one is is dismissal or
263. 55:41denial and so what hit me was and and I just picked five five is kind of an arbitrary number but you've got the five
264. 55:48stages of grief right and the five stages of AI adoption kind of mapped nicely on to it and so oh you made a bunch of pictures for each
265. 56:01of these yeah I haven't used those yet where where did you put those those are over in the salon right I should go grab
266. 56:05those and put them in this they're in IR regulars okay I'll go I'll go check them out um so stage stage one is is
267. 56:13dismissal or denial and that's where a lot of people are right now even a lot of people who say they've used chat GPT
268. 56:20who've used it like once and it gave them a shitty answer and they're like ah it's not that good it's just a
269. 56:25prediction engine I don't know if you knew this but it's just a probability engine it's just predicting the next
270. 56:31token there's there's nothing original about it right there's there's a lot of that sort of snarky I'm smarter than AI human
271. 56:45hubristic machine's not going to take care of my Brilliance you know not going to replace my [ __ ] giant fat ass
272. 56:52brain so that's stage one and and so that's a that's a wide stage oops hang on I have to do a physical dexterity
273. 56:59test for ticktock because apparently when you get old enough you don't have to take a driving test but you do have
274. 57:06to take a tick tock dter dexterity test um part of part of the mission of this channel was to you know make it so that anyone
275. 57:21that's in that stage one of dismissal of AI that we can sort of onramp them out of that the the next stage stage two is
276. 57:31when you've had that breakthrough moment where you realize oh my God I didn't know I didn't know it could do
277. 57:38that right that moment of awe the Kevin mallister moment where you're just like huh and that's that's a really important
278. 57:49moment because you have the first one of those I can remember my first one with chat GPT I had had my first sort of aha
279. 57:58moment with AI was with stable diffusion dream Booth where I uploaded a bunch of pictures of myself and then I just
280. 58:04started making all these weird self-portraits and it was just like this is remarkable that was my first one my
281. 58:11second one was writing a program with chat GPT writing a Python program I've never written a line of python in my life but in 90 minutes I
282. 58:20had written a fully functional python application that was my first of those moments and it's just this it's kind of
283. 58:32like I going to say it's kind of like the heavens open up but it's it's not that dramatic but it in some ways it is
284. 58:41because someone else can't explain it to you like I could say to you till I'm bleue in the face this thing can write
285. 58:50better than you can this thing you know can at least write faster than you can it can organize thoughts faster than you
286. 58:57can and better than you can and people go yeah yeah yeah whatever and then they try it or you do it for them and you say well what what
287. 59:08is your specialty well I'm a I'm a linguist and I think word atmology is where it's all at you say hey chat GPT
288. 59:16give me the origin of these seven obscure words and it it just vomited out and that person will be like oh my God it could do that
289. 59:28that so that's a really important moment and then and then you just like oh [ __ ] then you start to dig deeper and
290. 59:37you pretty quickly go into stage three which is what I call you know reverence and Dread simultaneously the Wonder and fear
291. 59:45stage right like you realize AI is absolutely incredible and it's absolutely terrifying because if it's that good at these
292. 59:58things is it also good at those things and then you find out yeah it is and is it also good at those things yeah it
293. 1:00:05is you're like what does that mean for my job and my security and my company like sometimes I'll watch chat
294. 1:00:13GPT you know generate something and I'm like there are whole companies that they're all of what they do is
295. 1:00:20that and they they charge a lot of money for human beings to do that thing it just vomited out in you know a minute 30 seconds stage
296. 1:00:31four like right now I'm somewhere between three and four I don't I stage five right now is aspirational I don't think the tools are
297. 1:00:41good enough for any of us to be at stage five stage four is ah AI isn't replacing me it's extending me it's amplifying my
298. 1:00:54ideas so you go from this sense of dread where like it's ai's been externalized and it's this external tool that's doing
299. 1:01:03all these crazy powerful things stage four is when you kind of internalize it and go oh wait a minute I can I can make this tool my
300. 1:01:14partner but I'm still in charge I get to take my ideas and blow them up amplify the crap out of them and I'm you know now I'm kind of
301. 1:01:28Surfing along with AI where rather than being insecure that it's smarter than me I'm like oh it's smarter than me and I
302. 1:01:38get to use it so it's like me plus this like it's this new entity right the Cyborg and then five is when we're in
303. 1:01:49that stage of cognitive hyper abundance is is the term um I got that term from d Shapiro it's it's a bit of a mouthful
304. 1:01:59but I just love it cognitive hyper abundance you've got your brain it is the bottleneck by the way imagine having your brain being the
305. 1:02:12conductor of 20 or 30 PhD level employees that work 247 to do anything you want them to do now I'm not just kind of Surfing With
306. 1:02:26this thing as an entity now I'm like the conductor of an orchestra of you know an army of these things or you know a
307. 1:02:34symphony of these things if you don't want to use War metaphors the new autonomous Tesla cars are expected to be a lot faster than
308. 1:02:44regular drivers driving regularly I heard today and they said at the very least faster than a human yeah these things are going to get
309. 1:02:54better than us at everything the one thing that they won't get better at us at is human connection we still get to control that
310. 1:03:11but we get to do it with this augmentation so anyway you know stage five I don't think the tools are there
311. 1:03:17for stage five but that's what's coming and it's like I think you have to be you have to be at stage four you have to be in this place of
312. 1:03:26like not not dreading this thing right if you're still in that place where I'm like ah this thing's [ __ ] terrifying
313. 1:03:32I don't think I'm going to use it today you you're not going to be able to embrace what's coming so so for me this
314. 1:03:43is the aspiration but like I said I find myself oscillating pretty wildly between these two stages and I still have you know I still
315. 1:03:54have every time there's like a new a new feature comes out I still have these moments right this this little cycle of
316. 1:04:02these three things I I go through pretty regularly right Kevin McAllister moment oh my God this thing's amazing and then integrate
317. 1:04:10it so anyway I thought that was worth sharing so all [Music] right I ask chat gbd to clean up my notes
318. 1:04:26and I'll ask if sometimes explain to me why I wrote something and it blows my mind that it explains it to me I know I know it's so true um
319. 1:04:36kakee what I love about it is how it makes my creativity explode so kakee that's such a it's such an important Point
320. 1:04:46um if you're in one of those early stages if you're new to Ai and you understand that AI is super creative and it is those people that say
321. 1:04:59it can't be creative it can't come up with new ideas is [ __ ] I'm happy to geek out on that and tell you why
322. 1:05:08it it feels logically like it shouldn't be able to but it can especially in the hands of a creative person
323. 1:05:22um the Instinct from the outside with AI is that if AI is creative then it replaces our creativity and it's just not the case
324. 1:05:33it's just not the case what AI does is it allows you to take an idea in your head and very very quickly get it out
325. 1:05:42like like the education thing we did to start off the show tonight I don't know anything about education and certainly not foreign
326. 1:05:50language English as a second language you know course design I've got no background in that but it was an idea
327. 1:05:58that was put in my head by one of you I threw it into cat GPT and now it's out of my head and I'm looking at it and I
328. 1:06:03can look at it objectively and I'm like oh that's kind of cool and then it came up with actually some really unique ways
329. 1:06:09like using theater and performance and experiential work to learn a language I think that's brilliant and I think in an
330. 1:06:17all AI world doing something where people are play acting to learn a language will resonate like that's a superhuman thing to
331. 1:06:29do and so like that gives me ideas for how to do other things and so rather than looking at Ai and saying oh it came
332. 1:06:37up with those ideas therefore you'll never come up with another idea it's absolutely the opposite it comes up with
333. 1:06:44some idea and you're like oh and you have 10 more and then it'll amplify those and then you have 10 more and then you have a hundred more
334. 1:06:56I have never been more creatively on fire than I have been in the past two years like by far you know you know the the maybe exception
335. 1:07:10was when I first moved to New York City out of school or you know going to school for theater like like it's an intense level of
336. 1:07:24creativity all right wait what's going on
337. 1:07:38here I sometimes wish I'd come along now when the agents are starting to appear but there's just so fundamental
338. 1:07:45knowledge I gained in these last 18 months yeah I know Chef Kelly I feel the same way where and and part of it is
339. 1:07:52like what do I teach on this channel because I feel like anything anything that we learn here is is going to be
340. 1:07:57subsumed by the the new things that are coming but it but it is very much additive right like what we've what
341. 1:08:04we've learned over the past 18 months is the equivalent of learning how to do math on paper knowing that the
342. 1:08:12calculator's coming right knowing that computers and spreadsheets are coming so yeah I agree with that

347. 1:09:33stuff like that that's really for our little monkey brains to be able to parse language like be because because we're
348. 1:09:43this weird combination of visual processing and language processing and I don't don't know semantics understanding
349. 1:09:51and whatever the [ __ ] goes on in our brain things like outline form and bullets make it easier for us to read
350. 1:09:57stuff and then but if you look at how jelly pood just takes this in it strips all that [ __ ] out it's just like here's
351. 1:10:04a pile of words and it can understand all of those I find that amazing all right so create it's also if if you've never used notebook
352. 1:10:19LM um notebook LM if you go to notebook dot or notebook LM . google.com and just take if you've got a
353. 1:10:29whole bunch of PDFs of I don't know [ __ ] you've written or I don't know work things that aren't proprietary or I don't know PDFs on
354. 1:10:44gardening just throw them into notebook LM you just upload them as different sources so you have a whole list of
355. 1:10:50sources down one side and then it just eats them and within I don't know 30 seconds it's you've got a summary of all
356. 1:11:00of the information that's in those PDFs and you can now start chatting with it and you can create a a podcast about all
357. 1:11:07that information it's it's we just live in [ __ ] stunning staggering times so it's one one of my other jobs is remind

383. 1:16:13then you or or a pair of voices you can do two um and then and then you create a concept for your podcast and it'll come
384. 1:16:21up with EP out outlines for you you you can also do those over in chat GPT yourself and then bring them in here that's what I do
385. 1:16:30um and then yeah it just you go through these steps you you give it the you give it the base knowledge it creates an
386. 1:16:37outline you can then edit that outline like I did um it then creates a script and right now I'm going to click
387. 1:16:45generate audio so now it's going now it's taking our script going back to 11 Labs taking our custom voices that we created
388. 1:16:55and creating little video Snippets and then stitching them all together so it's doing something that you could do on
389. 1:17:02your own if you wanted to go through the pain in the ass of finding all these different tools and manually sticking
390. 1:17:08all this [ __ ] together it's just doing it as a single thing um can you give them toddler voices yeah you can you can audio

480. 1:35:17Circle and Los Angeles films critics Association awards for best animated feature and it is premiered in on Max
481. 1:35:25HBO's uh company on Valentine's Day wow cool it is a little bit of a dramatic episode about a uh cat that finds itself
482. 1:35:35in a flood and has to survive the nuances of a flood yeah yeah yeah wow that's cool yeah it's and and you know
