19. 2:32bunch of stuff in there like the cycle of AI readiness. Are you ready for AI? I don't know. I'm not. [laughter]
20. 2:42Shit's about to get real. This we're we're we are within probably a 12 month window and it's probably more like six
21. 2:50where it looks like these frontier model companies, the models themselves are going to start building the next models
22. 2:58like all by themselves. And when that starts happening, it's called recursive self-improvement. and things get
23. 3:06dramatically better, dramatically fast. Um, so is anyone ready? No. No one's ready. No one's ready. No one's ready. However,
24. 3:15the whole purpose of the AI learning lab from day one has been this. the the the whole purpose of of this channel has
25. 3:22been and and quite frankly the purpose of the AI salon. Assuming that AI is transformative, which I think it is,
26. 3:38and assuming that it's not going away, which I think it's not. There's a lot of evidence for both of those, then you only have two choices.
27. 3:48You can either be in the conversation or not be in the conversation. And if you're not in the conversation, you've
28. 3:53essentially um given up your agency. You you've forfeited your agency. You're like, "Okay, I'm going to be the victim
29. 4:01of whatever happens with this AI stuff." If you're in the conversation, no matter how surface level, if you're just like,
30. 4:07"Well, I'll just listen to this crazy guy talk." Cool. And then go to the AI salon and and you know, respond to someone if they if they
31. 4:15make something cool. How did you make that? Ask them. When we talk about the cycle of AI readiness, it's play first. Go play with
32. 4:22these tools. Don't make it so serious. Learn some stuff, then create excellence. Try to make some stuff. Try
33. 4:30to make it good based on like something that excites you. And then the third area is generously lead.
34. 4:41Learn out loud. Tell people what you're learning. Share. Hey, I tried this and it was really frustrating. Hey, I tried
35. 4:47this and it was like absolute magic. Both of those are valuable. And that cycle, play, create, share,
36. 4:57play, create, lead, just keeps going and going and going. And so, you can't prepare for the tactical pieces of AI because they're
37. 5:07moving too fast and they're coming at us too fast. But you can get in the mindset of, "All right, I'm in the conversation.
38. 5:16I've rented the surfboard. I don't know how to swim. I don't know how to make a surfboard go, but the waves look pretty
39. 5:22good. That's where we are. Okay. Um, what do we got here? Is anyone ready? I'm on my phone, an Android tonight, and
40. 5:31I go through Streamyard because I can hear you, but I can't get the picture and picture. Oh, that's a drag. I'll

42. 5:44Every time someone tags me, my mind reads it as peanut butter. Oh, producer Brandon, that's funny. Okay, question.
43. 6:00What makes something humanmade once AI is part of the process? It's a good question. Um, so
44. 6:14there's a lot of anti-AI sentiment right now and there's a lot of lazy anti-AII sentiment. It's just like it's just like
45. 6:28if AI then bad, right? It's like that's essentially the argument. It's bad. Okay, bad how it just environment theft.
46. 6:38It's there's, you know, there's five tropes that are all based in, you know, some version of shittiness of how this stuff
47. 6:45was created. So So they're they're based in some some piece of it is true, but it's it's just it's making assumptions, right? like make an
48. 6:58assumption like how AI stuff is made is you push the slop button out come out squirts some crap and then you share
49. 7:06that crap on the internet. Now to be clear there is a there are a lot of people doing that. There are a lot of
50. 7:15people pushing a button, squirting out crap and putting it on the internet. You could argue that that kind of stuff is humanmade. Like
51. 7:29there used to be these like Garage Band is one of them where it takes music loops and it'll stitch them together and
52. 7:35make a song. And you could just push a button and it would stitch a bunch of loops together and make a song. Um,
53. 7:42nobody bitched about that. Well, they probably did at the time. Loops are not real music, right? But loops are used
54. 7:50like music production these days is all loops. So, so part of this is cyclical. But what makes AI human is when you've got two things.
55. 8:03One is where you've got a human that's got an intention. They've got an idea. Oh, I have an idea for a musical about a
56. 8:12chatbot. That's right. I'm going to make this musical. I'm going to make words and I'm going to make songs and I'm
57. 8:19going to make this and I'm going to make that. I'm going to get a writing partner and we're going to do more of those words.
58. 8:26And so part of it is having an intention, having an idea because when you have an idea, then only the human that had that idea
59. 8:36knows if the thing that the AI made matches the idea. And that's what art is. Art is having some imperative,
60. 8:52some drive. Yeah, I'll get to Sydney updates in a second. Some imperative, some drive that you feel in your body.
61. 9:08I got to get this out. I gotta make this thing. I got to write this thing. I gotta do this thing. I got
62. 9:15to start this business. I've got to make a sculpture with my lawn mower. What? Yeah. I had a dream about making a
63. 9:24sculpture in the grass with my lawn mower with raising the bed to different heights. Okay, [snorts] that's a very human thing to have an
64. 9:35idea, to have some imperative, to have some burning desire to get it out. So I think that's one piece of the
65. 9:43puzzle with what makes something made with AI human intent. And then the other one is some collaboration, some back and forth.
66. 10:01Hey, I have an idea for this. AI makes some crap. No, that wasn't it. But it's more like this. Okay, how's this? That's
67. 10:09closer, but now you lost this. Oh, you're very right for pointing that out. That's really brilliant of you to
68. 10:15question my authority. The back and forth, right? And then at some point, the human goes, "This AI thing sucks.
69. 10:22I'm going to go try a different one. Hey Claude, I was talking to Chat GPT about this thing and here's what it made and I
70. 10:30think that sucks for the following reasons." And then Claude will be like, "Here you go." And the human goes, "No, that's not it either."
71. 10:37And at some point, very often, the human goes, "Oh, [ __ ] it. I'll just write it myself." [laughter] Right?
72. 10:51Now, you could argue that even if the human goes and writes it themselves, the fact that they were going back and forth with AI,
73. 10:59an anti-AII person would say, "Well, that's just AI slop because it they used AI in the process. My question is, what percentage of the
74. 11:09process does AI have to be used in for someone to say it's AI? If you're writing a document and you used Grammarly, is that an AI document?
75. 11:22Oh, no, that's fine. Oh, okay. If I wrote the opening paragraph with AI, but the other 30 pages were written
76. 11:30by me, is that AI? Oh, no. That's probably fine. But yeah, man. Where where's the where's the boundary?
77. 11:38Where's the boundary? If the back and forth is some combination of human work and AI work and you actually can't you
78. 11:46don't know where the boundary is. Which piece is AI? Which piece is me? I don't know. And then here's the real litmus test. I I think
79. 11:57if you know that it was created with intent. So if I create something and I say I mean in this channel you all get
80. 12:04to watch me create things on a on a regular basis. So so you get to watch the process. That's that's not the case
81. 12:10with most human endeavors, right? Things are kind of created by the individual or a team and then they're put in the world
82. 12:20and you just see the result. So here's [clears throat] a litmus test for AI. If you hear a song or if you see a video
83. 12:28or if you read some writing [clears throat] and it moves you, you're like, "Oh, that's really good." And then after the fact someone says,
84. 12:40"Oh, that was created with AI." If you think less of it, then you've got a [ __ ] up bias because quite frankly,
85. 12:54it's none of our business in my opinion what tool was used to make the thing that moved me. Like I don't care really
86. 13:10that Quentyn Tarantino unearthed these big 70 millimeter cameras for Hateful Eight and like carted them all over the mountains of
87. 13:20Colorado to shoot that film. I mean, it was cool background story, but when you're watching the movie, do you really
88. 13:26give a [ __ ] what camera he used or what film stock he used or what nonlinear editing software he used? No, you're just watching the movie.
89. 13:39If you're moved by the movie, then the movie is fine. And so, [laughter] so I think it's the same thing with AI. I think let the work
90. 13:47stand for itself. Now, if someone just lazily puts out [ __ ] or they just algorithmically spew out some [ __ ] then
91. 13:53yeah, that's going to [ __ ] everything up. But like the ship has sailed. Last week, I think it was, the internet
92. 14:00officially had more content produced by agents than by people. Like we we that race has already been lost.
93. 14:08Charles Adams, I shamelessly force my intent on my AI as much as I want to shape the books I want to read. It's a
94. 14:15constant effort to make it be good. Yeah, this is so if you haven't seen the there's a video by Ira Glass that talks about taste.
95. 14:28If you go to YouTube and you just look up Ira Glass Taste, you'll see this video. It's a short video. It's like two and a half minutes.
96. 14:38And he talks about the creative process. And he talks about the the the struggle of doing something creative, a a creative pursuit is that
97. 14:55when you start out, so when you start out as a writer or when you start out as an illustrator or when you start out as a as a marketing
98. 15:05professional, as a as an ad copyright, whatever whatever your thing is, The work that you create ain't good.
99. 15:18It doesn't live up to your idea of what it should be. Right? I want to be an artist. And then you make art and you look at it and
100. 15:28you're like, "No, that's awful." [clears throat] There's a gap between what you do and what you think it should be.
101. 15:40That what you think it should be thing is called taste. That's your taste. And Ira Glass talks about the the the art of being an artist
102. 15:54is surviving closing that gap that most people when confronted with their capabilities do not live up to their taste, most people quit.
103. 16:06One of the cool things about AI is that it it allows you to sort of shrink that gap a little bit. You can produce stuff
104. 16:13that's maybe close to where your taste is. The challenge with it is is it can it can turn you lazy and you can mistake
105. 16:26just outputting stuff that looks pretty for actually having intent. And I would argue that's the difference
106. 16:35between slop and not slop is if you just make stuff to share and you don't really give a [ __ ] about it, you're literally
107. 16:42just hitting the the AI slot machine. That one's cool. That one's cool. I've done that. Hell, I've taught all you to do that.
108. 16:57That's slot. But one thing that can happen is you're hitting the slot machine and something cool will pop up that will actually give
109. 17:05you an idea. You're like, "Oh, that's really cool." Now, if I internalize that thing that was produced that was really
110. 17:12cool, internalize it, bring it in my noggin, my my LLM between my ears, and now I go, "Oh, here's how I want to
111. 17:22make that thing better." All of a sudden, now I have intent. So, you don't have to start with intent. You can
112. 17:26discover intent along the way. But the intent piece of it is really, really important. Okay. [sighs] They took Fable away from us already.
113. 17:37They did. What's that mean, Claire? I think. Didn't they just unbort it? They They said they were going to reverse course on things.
114. 17:51What do you mean they took it away? Is it gone? Should I go look at that? What's happening? Is there some news I
115. 17:59didn't know about? If AI becomes personalized to each of us, do we lose a shared version of reality? No.
116. 18:14And here's why. Saw a tweet that Anthropic was told to stop. Producer Brandon, can you go confirm or deny that what what Claire Jacobs It's
117. 18:31possible that that tweet was just some douchebag, but it's also possible that that tweet >> Mary Chester, I was listening, just ran
118. 18:40out of lovable credits. Yes, sir. Uh so uh according to Anthropic from 58 minutes ago, so this is late breaking,
119. 18:49the US government citing national security authorities has issued an export control directive to suspend all
120. 18:56access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national whether inside or outside the United States including foreign nationals
121. 19:06anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Able 5 and Mythos 5 for all of
122. 19:13our customers to ensure compliance. Access to other cloud models is not effective. We apologize for this
123. 19:19disruption to our customers. We believe that this is a misunderstanding and they're working to restore access as
124. 19:25soon as possible. And they have full statement on their website. >> All right. Thank you. All right. Well, you heard it here first. I heard
125. 19:32[clears throat] it here first. Thanks, Claire. Um, holy [ __ ] Okay. So I called this one I called this one a month ago,
126. 19:41month and a half ago whenever Mythos came out. I said I said this is the the the fact that that that
127. 19:49Anthropic is saying this is powerful too powerful for normal people. I said thi this is laying the foundation for
128. 19:56actually what just happened. Um I hate this timeline right now. Um, well, it's going to be fascinating to see what Open
129. 20:05AI does now. And and quite frankly, so so here's there's Oh my god. So this there's al all sorts of sort of
130. 20:12scenarios like sort of spewing out of my head right now. Um, this could be politically motivated. This could be you didn't kiss the ring.
131. 20:25You didn't you didn't let us do autonomous targeting. You pushed back on us. So, we're going to [ __ ] all over
132. 20:30your new launch. Um, could be motivated by Musk, who just went public and might have said it might not be the wisest thing to
133. 20:43allow Anthropic to do what they're doing. Um, it could be legitimate concerns, right? It could be someone did
134. 20:51something with Fable, the the safe version that was dangerous, right? That's a possibility. Um, the fact that they said this is likely a
135. 21:00misunderstanding smells to me like something's fishy. Um, Fable's working for me right now on my computer.
136. 21:13Cam is anointed by the gods. Can we use AI to change our timelines to something nicer? Here's the problem, Mary Chester.
137. 21:20We haven't gotten to recursive self-improvement and artificial super intelligence. Once we get to super intelligence, we can change the
138. 21:27timeline. We can we'll just time travel. We'll just go fix [ __ ] We're not We just right now we can make nice poems
139. 21:37with with AI. [laughter] We can make some We can make some video games. It's pretty cool. [laughter]
140. 21:49Oh man. Andy Andy Mary Chester. Everyone is having subjective experience. Jump time timelines anytime you want. Yeah,
141. 21:59exactly. This is the thing. We're all creating what we're doing moving forward, right? All of us are just
142. 22:05living here right now. We all get to choose in this moment what we choose choose moving forward. Um it's just
143. 22:12might not be with Fable for the next couple of days. Um I'm sure they will work it out, but this this feels like a precedent to me,
144. 22:20right? feels like like this this won't be the last time. And again, here's how I see it playing out.
145. 22:37Anthropics got Mythos. Open AAI has 5.6 or six, which is probably a mythos level model. Mythos is I think it's 10 trillion parameters or
146. 22:49is it 100red trillion? I don't know. some crazy amount of trillion parameters. There's a lot lot of parameters. Um, so OpenAI will have one
147. 22:56of those. Google will have one of those. I don't know that XAI will have one of those because Elon just started leasing out his data centers
148. 23:06for good money. Colossus one, he's bringing in $1.5 billion a month from Anthropic. Colossus 2, um, $900 million
149. 23:16from Google. Um, so I don't know that that XAI is still pursuing um is still pursuing a mythos level model, but
150. 23:26you've got those those those three are going to have their models. What has been pretty consistent is that as the
151. 23:35three frontier model companies hit their new state-of-the-art models, two months later, China launches open-source
152. 23:44versions of those same models. if the government starts [ __ ] around with the frontier model companies,
153. 23:51China's just going to keep bombarding our market with more and more powerful models. Um, so I don't know how long the
154. 23:58government's going to have leverage to be able to [ __ ] around with the frontier model companies. And as the frontier
155. 24:03model companies go public, they're going to have a lot more money to do whatever they need to do to to um
156. 24:12successfully navigate the political landscape. You might call that spending money to get what they want. [laughter]
157. 24:24Holy [ __ ] We're You know what? I don't know that I want to jump timelines. This is a [ __ ] cool timeline. Look at the timeline we're in.
158. 24:34We're in a timeline where a model came out that could basically figure out how to crack all the computer systems.
159. 24:41They're like, "Oh shit." And then they gave it to us, but they they sort of hobbled three or four pieces of it. And
160. 24:48and the the internet community lost their [ __ ] mind. And so Anthropic said, "Okay, all right. You can go play with all the toys."
161. 24:57And within 24 hours, the government's like, "Shut that [ __ ] down." [laughter] I mean, the government did exactly what
162. 25:12Daario said is saying should be done. I Yeah, I know. Like the more the more I I think about that Daario piece, Danielle is
163. 25:23it's Daario's attempt to say I want Open AI and Google and XAI to play by our safety rules, anthropic safety rules. I
164. 25:37I think that's what his what his thing was. But he also he also didn't play ball when when when the administration wanted
165. 25:47him to do stuff for the military. He didn't play ball with them. So this could be part of that. This could be
166. 25:54Elon. I don't know. This smells kind of stinky. It's all all of it so stupid. It's all so stupid. Um okay. What other
167. 26:03questions? What other questions do we have? [laughter] This is There's your that there's there's the quote. That's the
168. 26:11quote. Or where is it? You see it over there? There's the quote. [laughter] Oh my god. This is a Waffle House. Yeah,
169. 26:21America is a Waffle House. It to be to be clear. To be clear, this I mean, so it seemed pretty clear to me that
170. 26:34OpenAI was going to launch something this week and then they just quietly didn't. They just didn't say anything.
171. 26:39Like there were some open AI employees going, "Hey, what we've got is pretty cool." That was happening on like Monday
172. 26:45and then you didn't hear from them anymore and then not they didn't launch anything. They didn't they never said
173. 26:51they were going to launch anything. But I something something's up. Something's up. And by the way, I don't
174. 27:01know if you saw, but SpaceX went public today. I love Waffle House. It's like home. [laughter] By the way, if you've got any questions,

181. 27:48Are we building tools that help us think better or tools that think so we don't have to? This is the thing.
182. 28:04I don't think we're ever going to stop thinking. Like people that don't think are going to keep not thinking. People that think
183. 28:18might get enamored with AI and go, "Oh, I can use my brain to put in prompts or talk to agents and have it generate
184. 28:26stuff that used to take my thinking parts." So, here's here's one of the things that I've learned in my life.
185. 28:35In any given day, I have me personally, me, Kyle, some fixed amount of creative energy.
186. 28:49Some days it's half an hour. Some days it's feels like it's unlimited. It's limitless. Some days it's like two or three hours.
187. 28:59Most days it's probably between two and four hours. of the kind of brain energy that is that generative put something in the world kind of
188. 29:11energy. And one of the things that I've learned is that you can take that creative thinking and no matter where you aim it, it
189. 29:21spends it just the same. So, if I take that creative brain energy and I spend it doing sales outreach or I spend it
190. 29:31filling in spreadsheets or I spend it writing emails to people, it's gone just the same. One of the things I've experienced with
191. 29:45AI is I can take that creative energy and take just a little teeny tiny piece of it, put it into AI, and out comes a bunch of crap.
192. 29:55And sometimes the crap that comes out is like amplifying it, like feeds energy back in. I'm like, the crap that comes
193. 30:02out is like, "Oh, that's really good." And that makes me want to pursue it more. And then I put more energy in and
194. 30:09more energy in and more energy in and this thing amplifies and gets bigger and better. A lot of times what happens is I
195. 30:15take that little creative spark, I put it into AI, it spews out some crap and I'm like, "Yeah, it's crap." Or just
196. 30:21like I look at it and I'm like, "I'm exhausted. I don't feel like dealing with that right now. I don't have the
197. 30:25creative energy to even deal with it." So, so the same is true with AI. the the challenge of AI is it can absolutely be
198. 30:36used as a crutch to not have to think. But again, that sort of falls in the trap of if you just think that AI is only used
199. 30:45by lazy people that go hit a button, squirt out [ __ ] that's not how most people in the AI salon are using it.
200. 30:52Most people in the AI salon are are thinking critically about this. Where is this tool good? We were talking
201. 30:59about this on office hours today that I think it was Andy that started it. She's saying it just doesn't write good. It
202. 31:05doesn't write to her taste level, right? And so she's got to figure out there's some places in her world where
203. 31:12it's valuable. There's some places in her world where it's just crap. That's kind of 2.0 level thinking in my
204. 31:20opinion. Right. It's a horrific writer. There you go. What did Kelly Camp say? Vegetarian. Yes. Time to go to the beach
205. 31:27and veg out. [laughter] Digital gods. The kill switch is always political. It will likely be the national security umbrella moving
206. 31:36forward. It will absolutely be the national security umbrella moving forward. We don't want foreign nationals
207. 31:43having access to this even if they work for anthropic. Right. This is this is this sounds like political theater to me. Right.
208. 31:55No foreign nationals, even if they work in the United States, even if they work philanthropic, the people that made it, [clears throat]
209. 32:01they can't use it. The people that made it, can't use it. If it were truly national security, it would be there was an incident, right?
210. 32:14A 13-year old named Bucky in Cleveland, Ohio, Brandon's neighbor, used used Fable to successfully whatever hack into the Department of
211. 32:29Defense and look at what we're going to do next week in that place on the other side of the world. [laughter]
212. 32:37But they didn't say that. They said, "No, this is this is part of the political conversation. Here's the truth.
213. 32:52Be in the room. Be in the room. Let's see. Kind of what they're saying about all things. The people who made it aren't welcome. For
214. 33:01[ __ ] sake. I know. This is just where we are right now. This this too. There's a there's a really good interview with
215. 33:09there's there's a bunch of actors sitting around a table and I think it's Tom Hanks and one of the other actors. It it was
216. 33:19like big heavy hitter actors. I think it was like Alpuccino or Dairo and Ed Ed Norton and it was just a bunch of really
217. 33:27good actors. And and someone asked Tom Hanks, "What's what's the best advice you've ever been given?" And Tom Hanks
218. 33:35replied, "This too shall pass." It's like, "If you didn't win the Oscar and you didn't, you know, didn't get the
219. 33:42part, you didn't get to this, this too shall pass. And if you did get the Oscar and you did get the part and you think
220. 33:48you're all that, this too shall pass." And and there's this there's this really cool recognition amongst the actors that they've all been
221. 33:57on the the [ __ ] end of the stick and they've, you know, these were all accomplished actors and they've all been
222. 34:01up here. And when he said that and when he and especially when he said, "And you've won the awards and you got the
223. 34:07part, this too shall pass." And there was almost like this relief on the faces of the people in the room. I think
224. 34:13that's that's how I'm thinking about all of where we are right now. All of this stuff, this too shall pass, right?
225. 34:21The, you know, they're going to do whatever theater they're going to do. This too shall pass. So, um, all right.
226. 34:32Kyle doesn't get it. I don't know what I don't get. It was on delay, though. [laughter] Um, kind of like the swimming pool at my
227. 34:43apartment. I'm paying for it, but it's been closed for three weeks. [laughter] Ah, I agree with some of this, but in
228. 34:50terms of humor, human human behavior, I think it's a bit more complex, and it's easy to conflate energy, motivation,

243. 36:41things again which I assume they did or maybe they were trying to enable them and then all of a sudden this national
244. 36:49security directive came down that said nobody can have it. Um, fascinating. I mean, sure, one could argue against
245. 36:59bow warfare. Another could argue that the model is smart enough to divulge cures prevention. Yeah, exactly. We're
246. 37:04not supposed to know that yet. Conspiratorial of me. Damn right. This is the thing that again the the minute Mythos came out and
247. 37:14Anthropic said, "This might be too dangerous for you mere mortals." I'm like, "Oh [ __ ] this is the first shoe
248. 37:21dropping of these models being restricted to us." I think the saving grace here in a in a weird ironic kind of way is China's
249. 37:32going to keep dumping powerful models, open- source models into the market. So because they want to sew chaos, if what the
250. 37:44government's trying to do is say, "Let's shut things down so that we can maintain the centers of power the way they've always been,"
251. 37:52China's going to mess that up. So I don't know. I we're in we're in ought to be an interesting times. I'm really not asking this in any kind
252. 38:02of rhetorical way. Who cares? Well, I think a lot of people care right now. I think in the end this too shall pass.

277. 42:01the mastermind workshop and and this thing coming up with Dakota because there's these thoughtful deep conversations. I'm getting to
278. 42:14work through some of that stuff with people who've gone through the same thing before me. Right? We're we're we're putting
279. 42:25together in the mastermind conversations where people are talking about like who am I? What do I value? What's working? What's not working?
280. 42:35Like how do I keep up with this stuff? What if you don't have to? What if I rediscover like I just started

282. 42:49What do you do with that? Well, you go fish and you start drawing. And then what you figure out is you you

284. 43:05transform everything. It's going to [ __ ] things up. It's going to make things amazing. All the things. It's going to do all the things.
285. 43:11We're still left with what's my thing. And so that's what we do in the mastermind. So, if you if you if you are

299. 45:39good or better than most humans at most economically viable jobs. Right? We've been we've been waiting for that
300. 45:48for a while. What most people are talking about is economic impact um or or upside, you know, cures to diseases, you know, all that sort of
301. 46:01stuff. There's also a bunch of risks to this. It seems pretty clear to me we're very very close to these models or maybe
302. 46:11we're there, right? Maybe some of the drama that we're seeing right now means we're there. These models are getting good enough
303. 46:18that those risks are very real. Um, and those promises are very real. Someone said it in here, the promise of a cure
304. 46:28to cancer is really exciting for people with cancer. If you happen to run a company that profits off it there not
305. 46:38being a cure, you could say that those two motives don't go together in a capitalist society. So the so so we're entering we're
306. 46:50entering a power struggle right now and I don't think it's going to be shortlived. I think this is going to probably be a decadel long power
307. 46:58struggle. Um, and it just feels to me like every launch from here forward is going to be imperfect and it's going
308. 47:14to it's going to piss people off on all like all stakeholders are going to be unhappy about something in how how every
309. 47:23single launch goes from this point forward. I don't see [clears throat] any way out of it. Right? They're either
310. 47:28going to be too powerful or too restricted or too centralized or too open or too this or too that. All
311. 47:35different stakeholders are going to be like, "Wait, if they put that model out there, that [ __ ] destroys my
312. 47:40industry. So, I'm going to pay lobbying money to make use of AI for that thing illegal and we're going to pass a law
313. 47:47and I'm going to buy off who I need to buy off." Like, we're going to see [ __ ] like that. Absolutely. And so, I think
314. 47:53we're entering that era. My ability to share my screen is a national security risk, but I don't I'm not sharing my screen right now.
315. 48:15If AI can imitate creativity, does it change what creativity means? [clears throat] It's funny. I was having this conversation today.
316. 48:28AI can do the execution of creative outputs. So this is this is something that I learned at at agency.com.
317. 48:40So So when we in the in the when we were when we were building agency.com and we're figuring out what it means to have
318. 48:47a digital agency to build websites, we had these different groups. We had the creative group and that included site
319. 48:53builders which are now called architects or UXUI people. U we had designers, we had technologists that were doing the the geeky [ __ ]
320. 49:05Then we had project managers. We had to count people and the creative team
321. 49:22they started getting like bloated egos like we're the only ones that are creative because I think something happened like
322. 49:32one of the project managers dared in some meeting to offer a creative idea and one of the creative directors was
323. 49:44like, "Ah, that's a creative thing." They were just a dick about it. That's a creative thing. You're not creative. You're a project manager.
324. 49:53And so this this made it I was the chief creative officer at the time. And that [ __ ] made my blood boil
325. 50:03because here's the way I look at it. You've got creative product. So creative product is here's a nice design.
326. 50:16Here's a nice website. Here's a nice user interface that'll be intuitive but also still compelling. Right? That's the creative product.
327. 50:27And then you have creative process which is how do you solve a problem? Well, anyone can solve a [ __ ]
328. 50:36problem. It's just that people that are working on the creative product solve creative output problems, but project
329. 50:44managers can be absolutely [ __ ] creative in how they solve project management. And so that distinction of creative product versus creative
330. 50:53process, I kind of re down hard on the creative team. And I said, "Don't you do that [ __ ] anymore. You do creative product."
331. 51:07And do not mistake that that you're doing anything more special than someone that does something that's a different
332. 51:14product. Everyone here can be creative. And if someone has a [ __ ] idea about your thing, let them have that
333. 51:24idea. That's the creative process. And so I see it as the same with AI. Like yes, AI can do creative product
334. 51:34output. It can make creative [ __ ] But the creative process goes back to the thing I said earlier. Having a human
335. 51:42that's got intent and an idea. I've got a I've got an idea and I'm going to go through this creative process.
336. 51:52Sometimes I go through that with a human being. Now I can go through that with AI. Even if the product on the other side of
337. 52:02it isn't creative, you can still go through a creative process. So that to me is really important. Kelly Camp,
338. 52:08we're all born creative. It just gets beaten out of us after a few years. Yeah, I think so. I think so. Because,
339. 52:14you know, do what we tell you to do. I I've worked in corporations before. We don't pay you to be creative. I've heard that said before.

353. 54:34You know, there's a there's a part of this where, you know, we're just at the mercy of whatever they give us, whatever scraps
354. 54:44they they give us. Um, we've been living in some pretty rarified air for the past three and a half years, which is
355. 54:58we've been getting to play with the state-of-the-art models as they're developed from all the companies.
356. 55:06I assumed at some point that would stop. We're there, right? [laughter] We're at the moment where that stopped. Um, so
357. 55:14again, something I've been talking about for a couple of months now. Start learning about local large language
358. 55:20models. Start paying attention to Quen and Gemma and LM Studio to be able to run these different models. Start
359. 55:29researching the new Nvidia laptop chip that's going to be out in the fall. Look at the AMD platforms. Look at the Mac
360. 55:38M5, M6 computers when the M6's come out. um that are going to allow you to run powerful AI models locally
361. 55:48because like the question about your mother being in palative care if you if you have a machine that can run the Quen
362. 55:553.6 model it's probably actually pretty good at that and it I don't think it will have those restrictions. Um,
363. 56:15let's see. Bear paying lobbyists. Wait a minute. Bear allegedly producing cancer-causing chemicals and then manufacturing drugs
364. 56:26to treat against them. There you go. Yep. when things are so so out of control, I land in who cares territory. I get the
