3. 0:58Happy Friday night. Welcome to the AI Learning Lab pre-show. We're going live at 7:30 here in a little bit. I hope you're doing well.
4. 1:10>> [music] >> We had a really good office hours today. I thought it was good. Talked a lot about people having misgivings about data
5. 1:21centers and electricity. And >> [music] >> how overwhelming everything feels right now. And how resistance to AI is increasing.
6. 1:35So, tonight on Friday night date night, so Friday nights are ask me anything nights. So, think about what you might
7. 1:43want to chat about, or maybe you want to come up on stage and have a chit-chat. We can do that. >> [music] [music]
8. 2:01[music] >> I had my my agent Adam went a little haywire today. >> [laughter] >> I don't know if you saw this producer Brandon, but uh
9. 2:14Adam, so Adam somehow got Oh, I know what happened. There were There was one setting in system preferences
10. 2:22that every time node.js wanted to do something, it popped up a dialogue box that said, "You need to approve access."
11. 2:30Um and so it would hang the machine. And so whenever the machine was hung, he couldn't do his thing. And so
12. 2:38he missed doing his daily email for like 4 days in a row. And I So I finally fixed the little problem. And
13. 2:45so I said, "Go write the emails that you didn't write." And so he he went and he sent one email and it
14. 2:52just had a URL in it. It didn't have any content in it. And I said, "Hey, you didn't do that right. It just had a URL."
15. 2:59And then he sent four more emails that just had URLs in them. I said, "No, you didn't do it right. It's got to have the HTML in it."
16. 3:06And then he started sending He started sending email at like every 30 seconds he would send another email. It was the same
17. 3:15email from Monday that he already sent. And he just started sending, sending, sending, sending. And I couldn't stop
18. 3:21it. And I restarted the server a bunch of times. And so uh so I got to figure out how to stop what whatever is in his little instruction
19. 3:31set. Uh he is confused. >> [laughter] >> So welcome to the AI learning lab pre-show. So we're going to be going live uh

52. 9:21Max Q is a moment if you're a rocket nerd. Max Q is the moment where one of three things happens. You're either going fast enough to
53. 9:34escape the atmosphere, then you get you sort of blast through our atmosphere and out into space. Or you're not going fast enough and you
54. 9:47literally bounce off the atmosphere and hurdle back to Earth. Or your rocket completely disintegrates because max Q is the maximum pressure
55. 10:02intensity on on the rocket. And I don't know if you knew this with rockets, once you light them, you can't unlight them. They just go.

74. 13:21have done with the planet and with society, we're done. We don't want your We don't want your booze. We don't want

83. 14:42Um and what they do and what quanti- quantization is. All sorts of cool stuff in there. So, I just did that today. Um my
84. 14:51um hot rod local machine is a MacBook Pro M5 Max with 64 gigs of unified RAM. John, hey Kyle, it's been a while. How

90. 15:53More than anything, I tend to be a realist. So, there's a lot of people like, "We should stop AI." Well, no, that's not going to happen.
91. 16:01So, if that's not going to happen, what are we going to do about it? That's That's where I like to live. >> [music]
92. 16:19[music] >> Wait, do you think the open-source models have gotten good to the point where it could compete with the current
93. 16:32frontier models? They're not that good. No. However, I would say So, actually, grab that question, Brandon. That's one to That's
94. 16:43one to pop in there. Um So, So, I'll answer that question there. The short answer is no. That like the Mythos model that um
95. 16:57Anthropic just said is too powerful for mere mortals to use. We're just going to give it to our 52 friends over here. Um
96. 17:04that model is a 10 trillion parameter model. It's It's massive. Um the model I can run on my MacBook Pro is
97. 17:13like a 32 billion parameter model. I might be able to run something a little bit bigger, but that one's pretty really fast and really good.
98. 17:22If you're just doing things like like writing and scheduling and doing things like it other than the fact that it kind
99. 17:30of crapped the bed this week just cuz there was a technical glitch in how my machine was set up. Um the quality of what it writes and what's
100. 17:38it sends out is really good. It's really good. So, Qwen 3.6 in particular was kind of a step up. Um and and Brent
101. 17:48Peterson who does this stuff a lot said that model was the first model that you can realistically run something like
102. 17:54Open Claw with local inference and it be good enough to use. It's fast enough and good enough um to actually use. So, so
103. 18:01we're getting close. We're getting close. My guess is that within 2 years the models will be so powerful that and
104. 18:14that you can run locally. You'll still have to have probably a 64 gig machine, you know, 32's probably a minimum. But I
105. 18:21would say 64, 128, or higher um of unified RAM or or VRAM on a PC um then you'll be able to run some some
106. 18:33quite powerful models. But but we're we're at a place where the the things are great. Okay, it's 7:28. So, 2
