Description

In this lively and engaging session from the AI Learning Lab, Kyle Shannon dives into the transformative power of generative AI, exploring its potential to revolutionize creativity and problem-solving across various fields. He discusses how tools like ChatGPT and image generators can empower individuals to express their ideas and stories in ways previously unimaginable, challenging the notion that AI will diminish organic creation. Instead, he argues that these technologies can amplify human creativity, allowing people to break free from traditional constraints and explore new artistic avenues. The conversation also touches on the evolving landscape of AI in business, education, and entertainment, emphasizing the importance of embracing these innovations rather than resisting them. 2:59 yeah
3:02 a a minor watch a
3:04 [Music]
3:21 [Laughter]
3:26 [Music]
3:29 minor whoa whoa whoa whoa
3:33 whoa whoa whoa
3:36 whoa whoa whoa
3:38 [Music]
3:44 whoa you done you
3:48 done tonight's one of those nights so I
3:52 think there's three modes champ has
3:53 three
3:56 modes there's the mode where he doesn't
3:59 want to sing at all
4:01 and then he's just
4:03 like and then there's a mode where he
4:05 loves to sing he just won't stop and
4:07 then tonight's the the other mode which
4:10 is hilarious which is he doesn't want to
4:13 sing but he has to cuz CU cuz dog brain
4:18 I
4:19 guess you just hit a certain note and he
4:22 just
4:23 goes he's looking at me like why am I
4:25 doing this and he's still he's still
4:29 going
4:30 right champy
4:32 yeah oh man all right welcome saw a
4:36 bunch of good people saw John Lawler at
4:38 the
4:39 uh at the AI Salon after hours here in
4:44 Denver the the the Meetup Group Jane and
4:47 CJ were there Brad was there couple
4:50 other people were there Allan um yeah
4:53 pile of people but John John he's like
4:57 co-pilot
4:59 exactly he was uh he was in from Florida
5:03 and he came to visit that was super nice
5:05 got to meet him in person so we had a
5:07 good chat had a good chat lovely image
5:10 here from uh from Jason G the the uh
5:14 Jason G and Danielle having a battle
5:17 having a battle in the Irregulars
5:19 channel for who's got the who's got the
5:21 coolest AI learning lab sticker or
5:24 whatever we call these things
5:27 graphic hero
5:29 image and uh Jason got me I'm a sucker
5:32 for a muscle car so you know there you
5:36 go that's pretty cool one too fat
5:42 racing pretty sweet pretty sweet I knew
5:46 you'd pick that car well I'll show look
5:48 so look
5:50 Danielle that's from Danielle that's
5:52 from Danielle that's from Daniel see I
5:55 almost went 80s 80s
5:59 sunglasses and then we had that from
6:02 from him from Jason that from
6:05 Jason and that was I think forever
6:07 hooked right so so I went with the car
6:11 but you know listen you're in the you
6:13 made the you're in the running so so
6:15 these will these these will be my my
6:17 fallback positions for days in the
6:19 future I don't have time to go go look
6:21 for
6:22 [Laughter]
6:27 stuff the salon thing tonight
6:30 they're like wait you go live how much
6:33 wait why do you do that I'm in that
6:39 battle in which battle is it over in the
6:43 in the
6:45 uh in regulars
6:50 Channel That's the larning
6:59 lab
7:02 um I saw right before I came on
7:06 here that
7:08 uh open AI is sort of openly going after
7:12 Elon Musk so I thought it might be fun
7:15 to go look at that
7:19 also one of the anthropic developers
7:22 shared the anthropic system message for
7:27 Claude how is the text worded so well
7:30 well I'm having so much trouble getting
7:33 letters to write properly um n NW
7:40 banging two things just keep
7:44 trying three things just keep trying
7:48 some words just suck like Irregulars and
7:51 irrelevant it's not good with I'm I'm
7:54 talking do here
7:56 primarily the third one is go try
7:59 ideogram if if you're not using ideogram
8:01 if you're just using the chat gbt image
8:04 generator it has been
8:08 outpaced by the 1.0 release of ideogram
8:11 so if you go to id.
8:14 a and then do it it's much better at
8:18 text and then just keep trying to redo
8:21 it finally started learning chat jbt
8:24 today phase Phase 2 Mo
8:27 fantastic congratulations and awesome
8:30 awesome
8:32 awesome if you're new
8:35 here um what I strongly encourage is
8:40 that you start playing with chat GPT
8:43 like right now not like tomorrow I'll
8:46 get to it tomorrow I don't I don't know
8:47 if you had this kle but I've had a long
8:49 day it was a it was a very stressful day
8:52 at the office I don't care I had a very
8:55 stressful day at the office then I had a
8:58 in-person after hour meeting here in
9:01 Denver for the AI Salon then I came home
9:03 and had dinner and now I'm here so if
9:07 I'm here you should be a chat
9:10 J you can make money with chat
9:12 [Applause]
9:17 J you can you can Stave
9:21 off having your job obliterated by
9:24 learning chat
9:26 GPT Kyle what's your source of AI info
9:30 do you go to a different do I go to
9:32 different channels not really I go
9:35 to so here's here's my deal I follow
9:40 okay here's how I do it I'll tell you
9:42 how I do
9:47 it you kind you kind of need to nerd out
9:50 a little bit and you need to figure out
9:53 who are the players in
9:56 AI now you can either take the time to
9:59 do that
10:02 or there's a guy named Robert scoble SC
10:06 c o
10:08 ble he's been like a tech influencer
10:11 dude for like four
10:13 decades nice
10:16 guy
10:18 and he has all these lists that he's
10:22 been maintaining for years and he just
10:24 updated them all in 2023 and he's been
10:27 updating the AI ones I I'm actually on
10:30 the AI uh CEO's list of
10:33 his
10:35 um so go find his
10:38 lists so that's that's a way and start
10:42 following his
10:46 lists
10:49 then find people whose names you've
10:53 heard of in AI Sam
10:55 Alman um Greg Brockman they run open AI
11:00 um elas sger um Elon m not well Elon
11:06 Musk um Ethan
11:09 mollik
11:11 um find people who are smart about
11:17 Ai and then on
11:20 Twitter I don't know if you know how to
11:22 do
11:23 this I just figured this out not that
11:26 long
11:28 ago on Twitter
11:30 let's see if I
11:34 go Robert sco's not a good
11:40 one let me go
11:43 to
11:58 um
12:03 so here's
12:05 Ilia sger so you go to
12:16 them and then let's
12:19 see so 365,000 people are following him
12:24 he's following two
12:26 people so go look at who he's following
12:31 a dachon community page and open AI all
12:34 right he's not a good
12:35 [Laughter]
12:38 one
12:42 uh Andrew Andrew ning um co-founder of
12:47 corera almost a million people are
12:49 following him he's following 862 so
12:52 click on that and then just scroll down
12:57 through this list and generally you're
12:59 going to find people with check
13:01 marks and read their little bios like
13:05 deep learning Goole like if you're
13:07 interested in AI art go find an AI
13:10 artist follow who they're
13:13 following you know find find people who
13:16 are you know into the thing so and then
13:18 do and basically if you do that for I
13:22 don't
13:24 know a couple
13:26 hours you know half an hour here half an
13:28 hour there just go find someone
13:31 interesting let me see if we can find
13:32 someone interesting
13:34 here AI at
13:42 meta AI at
13:50 meta is this I try to follow interesting
13:53 people on LinkedIn I try to F follow
13:55 interesting people
13:57 here and then I just pay attention to it
14:00 like I wake up in the morning I'll flick
14:03 through Twitter I'll flick through
14:05 Linkedin I'll go over to AI Salon see
14:08 the news channel see if anyone's talking
14:11 and generally within a given session
14:13 within about 10
14:15 minutes there's one or two
14:18 things that are being talked about in
14:20 three different places at the AI salon
14:23 on on Twitter and on LinkedIn and the
14:26 minute I see any kind of triangulation
14:29 like that I'm like oh I think this is
14:30 big then I'll go read that
14:32 story or or like dig into one of the
14:37 posts or I'll see a post from Ethan
14:40 mullik that's really
14:42 long and then Ethan mullik has one of
14:45 two kinds of
14:47 posts one of his posts is he's been
14:50 working on a piece for like two weeks
14:53 and it's just a long ass
14:55 piece and with my ADD I'm like H I'll
14:58 get to that at some point
15:00 point and then his other posts are holy
15:04 [ __ ] this thing just happened and it's a
15:07 big [ __ ]
15:09 deal and the minute he says that then I
15:12 go figure that [ __ ] out so for me Ethan
15:15 mullik and then triangulation between
15:17 Twitter the AI salon
15:20 and
15:22 Linkedin Kyle we lost connection I know
15:24 that's cuz I switched cameras [ __ ]
15:27 happens that that [ __ ] that [ __ ] bugs me
15:30 I wish they could get their [ __ ]
15:35 together awesome thank
15:38 you great
15:40 use
15:49 huh hang on I got to make an F1 comment
15:51 here
15:53 it's
15:58 F1
16:00 charge up
16:03 300
16:05 drones and
16:07 cover 10 minutes for
16:15 each car
16:23 staggered come on
16:26 people
16:28 figure
16:30 figure it
16:32 out I like yelling at random
16:38 people have you guys seen the uh have
16:42 you seen this super fast
16:46 drone
16:48 that that they went and filmed Max for
16:51 stappen driving around this TR this is
16:56 Silverstone this is like this is like a
16:59 Dr
17:00 a drone that can keep up with an F1 car
17:02 and he's basically trailing for stappen
17:05 as he's driving around Silverstone in
17:07 the rain look at this isn't this
17:18 crazy look at Max pull away he goes over
17:21 the bridge comes back
17:26 down this drone can last up to three
17:28 minutes
17:31 this drone is one of a kind so what I
17:34 told them was they should get they
17:35 should have a drone per car or like 10
17:38 drones per
17:40 car and follow these guys around for the
17:44 whole race make make them
17:46 autonomous because this is this would be
17:49 a blast to watch F1 this way anyway this
17:52 is actually this is an actual human
17:54 being piloting this this isn't this
17:57 isn't AI this is this is Good Pilot
17:59 pting in a super fast
18:01 drone pretty crazy
18:05 [Music]
18:08 right wait a minute why is he talking
18:11 about F1 is this isn't this about the AI
18:14 learning I came here to learn about AI
18:17 what
18:19 what what what is this channel
18:24 what he he does not seem like an expert
18:27 this does not seem like a lab
18:29 do does he have
18:32 qualifications why am I here why is
18:35 anyone
18:39 here do me a favor there's only 68
18:42 people in here can we get some
18:44 could could you share the live so listen
18:49 somewhere on Tik Tok you've got
18:51 friends they may not know it
18:56 yet but take this live and share it how
19:01 how do you do that I think there's an
19:02 arrow at the bottom is that a share
19:06 thing yeah send to that little arrow
19:09 that looks like a curvy arrow click that
19:13 click some friends of yours now here's
19:15 you want to have fun click friends of
19:18 yours that if you share an AI Channel
19:20 you know it'll piss them
19:27 off and
19:37 you're stuck super Frozen oh wait
19:38 unfroze back that was a long one all
19:41 right am I back
19:46 now who's your Daddy Y all are so
19:49 [ __ ]
19:50 [Laughter]
19:57 weird all right yes I'm back um that was

20:04 friends are
20:05 here uh I got to go change my shirt I
20:07 can't I can't read this is not good for
20:09 reading um okay so here's so yeah so so
20:12 tap tap the screen we're only okay first
20:15 of all we we've been here for 24 minutes
20:18 we only have a thousand likes uh uh get

20:30 relatives on the on the your
20:34 landline with your rotary
20:36 phones and say you you got to watch you
20:39 got to watch the AI learning lab tonight
20:41 you're not going to believe what's going
20:42 on there and then they'll come here and
20:44 they'll be like what what's going on and
20:48 it'll be nothing it'll be our joke all
20:50 right I'll be back uh yeah I'll just be
20:55 back read read the books on my

21:44 right we went from 68 to 72 we're making
21:47 progress It's a fantastic crowd in here
21:50 tonight welcome my name is Kyle Shannon
21:52 this is the AI learning lab you know
21:54 what we're going to learn AI in the lab
21:58 tonight be there or
22:00 don't um what do you want to talk about
22:02 tonight what's what is of curious to
22:07 you silver Fox's eyes are burning Sherry
22:11 D's
22:12 sleepy there's no sleeping in
22:18 AI I thought we went over
22:21 this let's see what was Claude 3 I heard
22:26 you were going to tell us how we could
22:28 make money with chat GPT oh bubbles
22:30 you're so cute um I will tell you how to
22:34 make money with chat GPT but I don't
22:36 think people like the
22:38 answer cuz it ain't this you can make
22:40 money
22:41 with these
22:44 people that talk like that here's how
22:48 they're making money with chat
22:52 GPT they're making chat GPT write a
22:55 course on how to make money with chat
22:57 GPT
23:02 and actually what they're doing is
23:04 they're taking the previous course they
23:05 shoved down your throat how to make
23:07 money with crypto and they they had chat
23:10 GPT do a search and replace for crypto
23:13 and they replaced it with chat GPT and
23:15 it's the same
23:20 [ __ ] and then before that it was how to
23:22 make money with uh direct marketing and
23:26 before that it was how to make money
23:27 with mobile and before that it was how
23:28 to make money with the worldwide web you
23:31 can make money with
23:33 HTML it's all the same
23:36 [ __ ] so here's why that's [ __ ] the
23:41 daily Jank with Frank how too please oh
23:44 okay I can do that I can show that we
23:46 can make another one tonight oh you know
23:48 what we'll go we'll go read we'll
23:53 go we'll go read the um did what did I
23:58 do that on
23:59 did did I do it on the Elon Musk
24:01 lawsuit hang
24:06 on Tick Tock AI learning
24:10 lab the daily Jank with
24:13 Frank yeah Elon Sue Sam okay yeah we'll
24:16 do a good response one to that so this
24:18 is
24:21 what's bluetooth
24:25 malfun
24:27 okay uh uh uh uh
24:29 [Music]
24:41 [Music]
24:45 [Applause]
24:49 uh here oh
24:51 [Applause]
24:52 [Music]
24:53 [Applause]
24:57 no
25:08 old man trying to use a computer
25:12 yeah well well he had a tab open there
25:16 was there was a car running around the
25:17 track he was trying to show us something
25:20 it was kind of sad he seemed confused
25:24 Marge Marge how do you turn off the why
25:28 is there a car racing
25:31 Marge um where was I oh I was at Tick
25:35 Tock Jesus this is so bad it's so bad
25:41 people um Tik
25:44 Tock okay good
25:47 Lord so I made this here video about a
25:50 hot
25:52 dog hey how's it going uh welcome to the
25:55 Daily Jank with Frank uh someone told me
25:57 I should do this so you know whatever
25:59 anyway uh what I'm supposed to do he's
26:01 like talk about a news item that
26:02 happened this week is something that I
26:04 don't know or this day it's the daily
26:06 Jank right okay so it's daily whatever
26:08 listen sue me what are you going to do
26:09 what are you anyway Elon Elon Musk this
26:12 [ __ ] like what is going on with
26:14 him he's like I'm going to show you Sam
26:16 mman cuz you lied to me you said it was
26:18 going to be a nonprofit and now it's a
26:20 for profit boo I'll tell you what I
26:23 think's really going on here I think
26:24 Elon is just trying to slow things up so
26:27 he can get a little competitive X do.ai
26:30 going there you know what I mean [ __ ]
26:32 him [ __ ] him you know what I'm saying
26:34 anyway this been the daily Jank with
26:36 Frank hope you enjoy
26:38 it let's kick it over to Farber at the
26:40 education desk he's my number two hey
26:43 how's it going with AI and
26:46 education well it appears that uh high
26:51 school and higher education are still
26:54 using AI
26:56 detectors back to you friend
27:01 [ __ ] hey all
27:03 right so so I made that and so there was
27:07 just a request how do I how did I make
27:09 that what's the tutorial so we can do a
27:11 tutorial on that uh but I was answering
27:14 bubbles how do you make money with chat
27:17 GPT
27:19 [Laughter]
27:24 um I would love to see open AI as open
27:27 source you you and Elon elon's trying to
27:31 sue for it and Sam's like but it's too
27:34 powerful we can't just give it
27:37 out um I think it's complicated I
27:40 actually don't think there's a there is
27:42 a simple solution to to what they're
27:44 fighting
27:45 over um here's the deal with with making
27:48 money with chat GPT it's actually the
27:51 wrong question and and I I don't mean it
27:54 like you're stupid if you ask this
27:56 question it's a perfectly reasonable
27:58 question to ask how do you make money
28:00 with chat
28:02 GPT but but it there's no good answer to
28:07 it because chat GPT is a
28:10 tool and like any tool there's lots of
28:12 ways to use that tool and so how you
28:14 make money with chat
28:17 GPT
28:19 is you figure out a problem that needs
28:23 solving and then you figure out how to
28:25 use chat GPT to solve that problem
28:32 so I'll give you a specific
28:36 example I've got a company called
28:38 storyvine we make
28:41 videos
28:48 and the the technology allows our
28:51 clients to have people self-produced
28:53 videos with
28:55 phones people record they answer some
28:57 questions on a phone it goes up to the
28:59 cloud 5 minutes later you got a fully
29:00 edited video super sexy but what you get
29:04 back is a video and then you either have
29:06 a video strategy or
29:09 not but what the video is of is is of
29:13 someone's authentic story in our case we
29:16 do a lot of work in healthcare like
29:17 maybe of a patient diagnosis Journey so
29:20 there's lots
29:22 of ways to tell that story one of the
29:25 ways you can tell that
29:26 story is with video which is what our
29:29 system does but you could also say watch
29:32 that video of that story and write a
29:34 blog post about it or you could write
29:37 some tweets about it or you could write
29:39 a title in a YouTube description you
29:42 could write what are the key messages
29:44 that were in that video
29:47 so so what I said
29:50 was wouldn't it be awesome and and in in
29:53 Pharma marketing they call that Omni
29:57 Channel hey we're looking for Omni
29:59 Channel content here Kyle I know you
30:01 don't understand what what your with
30:02 your video tool there but uh we're
30:04 trying to go Omni channel it's a it's
30:06 multiple channels it's uh communicating
30:09 the same message in a lot of different
30:11 places kind of getting personalized
30:13 messaging out to the
30:16 masses so they want Omni Channel content
30:18 so I thought there's a problem that
30:20 maybe chat gbt can help solve and so I
30:24 started out with a zappier automation
30:29 where I said hey if I take a transcript
30:31 of a video and do some calls to open AI
30:35 I could probably take that transcript
30:37 and turn that into a blog post or turn
30:39 that into
30:41 hashtags and I did it well
30:46 enough that I could take some outputs
30:49 from that dumb little tool I made in
30:51 zapier and I could stick them on a
30:53 PowerPoint slide I use keynote because
30:55 I'm
30:57 cool
31:00 and I started showing clients hey look
31:03 I've we've built this
31:06 tool where you can stick in a video here
31:08 and get out Omni Channel content there
31:11 and some of the clients were like that's
31:13 a cool
31:14 tool and one of the clients was like how
31:17 about we give you some money and you go
31:20 build build the real version of
31:24 that and have it do some [ __ ] that we
31:27 want it to do
31:30 you could make money
31:31 with and we went and built that tool and
31:34 you know what's cool now I got that tool
31:37 I can sell to other people that's how
31:38 we've grown Story vine is rather than
31:41 build a piece of technology and then try
31:43 to get people to pay for it we get
31:45 people to pay us to build the technology
31:47 that we know needs to get
31:50 built so that's so so what you do is you
31:53 don't say how do I make money with chat
31:55 GPT you say what's a problem that needs
31:57 solving and can I solve it with AI can I
32:01 solve it with image generation or can I
32:02 solve it with sunno the song song maker
32:04 or can I solve it with code interpreter
32:07 can I solve it with a zappier
32:09 Automation and if the answer is
32:12 yes and you do it
32:14 well and then you Market it well then
32:19 people will give you money for it and
32:21 that's and that's just that's business
32:24 101 it's no different if if I said um
32:27 How do you makeone with a
32:29 shovel I don't
32:31 know you could dig ditches you could
32:34 become a gardener you
32:38 could sweep up road gravel if I said how
32:42 do you make money with
32:43 Photoshop I don't know I mean
32:48 right you start with the problem the
32:51 problem is man there's a bunch of
32:52 photographers out there that are really
32:54 shitty at at photo editing
32:57 and that's not a good example now
32:59 because AI does it all for us but it
33:02 used to be you know when Photoshop first
33:05 came out how do you make money with
33:06 Photoshop well you get good at it and
33:08 then you tell people that don't want to
33:10 get good at it you'll do it for them for
33:13 money and that became Fiverr
33:17 right so that's it's not a sexy answer
33:21 but it's an
33:25 answer some comments in the live
33:28 filtered to protect the community's
33:30 experience who's being a poopy head in
33:33 here
33:34 huh don't be [ __ ] thank you and back
33:39 to your regularly scheduled programming
33:42 my summer shovel season is coming
33:44 [Laughter]
33:50 soon all right the word you were looking
33:53 for the other night making that GPT wait
33:56 what was the word
34:04 Ann Murphy became the number 249 member
34:07 on the
34:09 team Ann Murphy congratulations on being
34:11 number 249 I don't know what the team is
34:15 but apparently there's 249 of you on
34:19 it Kyle the word you were looking for
34:22 was holistic ah yes that sounds like a
34:25 word I would
34:27 forget
34:28 what word did I come up with I need to
34:31 know wait I need to get oh to know
34:34 zappier better yeah you can I mean
34:40 okay here's a little side rant and then
34:42 we'll get to making Frank a Frank
34:48 video when I first started playing with
34:55 AI I was seduced
35:01 I was seduced
35:09 by the promise of what I've always been
35:13 told computers were
35:16 for here's what I
35:19 mean for all of my
35:23 life what computers are
35:26 for is for making the work I do more
35:33 efficient
35:36 right you know you type on a typewriter
35:39 and Along Comes A word processor oh you
35:42 can type words more efficiently in a
35:46 typewriter like page that you can scroll
35:50 up and down and change words and copy
35:52 and paste oo
35:55 right but it's still me doing this just
35:58 more efficient and my whole
36:02 life that's what computers have been is
36:05 it takes the work I do and makes it more
36:11 efficient and
36:13 so when chat GPT came
36:17 out I was like
36:19 oh a super efficient word maker
36:23 thingy and so the first place that I
36:26 went was automations and it was what in
36:29 the early days of chat GPT it was what
36:31 everyone was talking about automation
36:32 it's about Automation and I was like I
36:34 know how to use zaper I'm going to go
36:36 make automations and I made content
36:39 producing tools and all sorts of cool
36:42 [ __ ] and I was it was like automation
36:45 I'm like this we're going to automate
36:47 it's we're going to automate it
36:49 all and then and
36:53 then I got [ __ ]
36:57 bored
36:58 cuz it's it's boring I mean it's fun
37:02 it's good to automate it's good to make
37:04 the
37:06 challenge but it was just taking the
37:08 [ __ ] I was doing and making it more
37:10 efficient with with some minor
37:17 exceptions and then when I got
37:19 bored I started to really look
37:22 at what this AI [ __ ] was what this AI
37:25 stuff was all
37:27 about
37:29 and it was like the the G in
37:32 GPT was like a a lighthouse Beacon it
37:35 was calling to me look here look here
37:39 the
37:40 G if you don't know GPT stands for
37:43 generative pre-trained Transformer
37:45 Transformer is just the technology that
37:47 Google invented pre-trained means they
37:49 filled it full of as much internet as
37:52 they could so it's smart and the
37:55 g generative
38:00 generative it's not just making what we
38:04 do more efficient it's actually creating
38:07 wholly new
38:11 content that is a complete massive
38:16 like split down the
38:19 middle of the time before and the time
38:23 after the time before we use computers
38:26 to make the work we do more
38:29 efficient but we Remain the cogs in the
38:32 shitty
38:35 wheel the
38:39 G says I as a
38:42 computer powered with this GPT
38:45 [ __ ] I'm going to be your
38:48 partner and I'm actually going to
38:51 amplify you the human I'm actually going
38:55 to
38:56 amplify and extend and
38:59 expand what you're capable of and I'm
39:03 going to do it
39:05 overnight so you're going to go from
39:07 maybe being a mediocre writer to being a
39:09 really good writer you're going to be go
39:11 go from being a completely shitty artist
39:16 to being a brilliant one you're going to
39:18 go from not being able to carry a tune
39:20 to being able to write a Broadway
39:22 musical
39:26 overnight that ain't efficiency that's
39:30 not about
39:33 efficiency that's that's like a
39:35 liberating Force for
39:39 Humanity that's what this Channel's
39:41 about that's what the AI salon's
39:47 about that's crazy
39:52 right and if you're like well isn't it
39:55 just that you put in a thing and words
39:57 come out
40:00 yep but it it ain't it's
40:03 not computers with generative
40:06 AI are not serving the same role as
40:10 they've served for all of my
40:20 life I don't know what to do with that
40:23 well I
40:24 do I'm [ __ ] talking about it I'm
40:26 screaming it from
40:29 rooftops that's what I'm choosing to do
40:31 about it
40:34 because like I heard I heard a lot of it
40:36 tonight at the at the as Salon meeting
40:39 the the inperson
40:41 meeting there was like there was a lot
40:43 of talk about how AI is going to take
40:46 jobs and it is like
40:50 yes but it was all the people were
40:52 talking about was like the downside of
40:56 it I'm like but there's this whole other
40:58 side of it like we were talking about
41:00 the the film making business and how you
41:03 know Tyler Perry you know canel his 800
41:05 million dollar Studio project and you
41:08 know well so those jobs are
41:11 gone
41:14 right but that means that there's going
41:17 to be other people who've never made
41:19 films before who are now going to get to
41:22 make
41:26 films and there there going to be some
41:28 of those people that make remarkable
41:30 [ __ ] films that have never made films
41:35 before that's
41:37 that's that's
41:40 different something's very very
41:43 different holy new content Batman
41:47 exactly exactly Good Very Clint
41:51 Copperhead very clever spelling of the
41:53 word holy in in holy holy new content
41:56 Batman that was good
41:58 very
41:59 [Laughter]
42:02 impressed so
42:10 crazy you know and now we can go make a
42:12 hot dog say stupid
42:16 [Laughter]
42:22 [Applause]
42:26 [ __ ]
42:28 was that the automation stage using
42:30 zapier what my my automation stage yes
42:33 was using zapier but then I I mean I've
42:35 since gone and built a tool based on
42:38 the one or two of the automations that
42:40 I've built in zap year so I built a tool
42:43 that's integrated into my into my
42:45 company's
42:48 platform that I essentially prototyped
42:50 in in
42:52 zapier
42:54 but but I don't know I never seen more
43:03 people more
43:09 excited than I do people who have
43:12 discovered
43:14 Ai and they're not excited like ooh this
43:17 technology is
43:19 cool I mean they're excited like holy
43:22 [ __ ] this technology is [ __ ] face
43:25 melting but what they're excited about
43:28 Kelly Camp Source camp in here was the
43:31 first one that said this and cuz I I
43:34 said in some meeting at some point I I
43:38 felt like I was in my 20s again like I
43:42 felt like like my creative spark had
43:45 been ignited and that that was kind of
43:48 what I had in my head like I'm as
43:50 excited as I was in my 20s and Kelly got
43:52 on a one of one of the I don't know
43:55 meetings we were having and she
44:00 said I think someone asked someone said
44:03 what's the thing in AI that you're most
44:05 excited
44:07 about and Kelly said something
44:18 like I have the energy and optimism of
44:21 the seven-year-old
44:24 me it was it was something like that but
44:27 but but it was like a seven-year-old
44:30 like I have a seven-year-olds optimism
44:32 and energy and
44:34 excitement and the minute she said it
44:36 I'm like that's what it is it's not like
44:39 I I'm as creative as I was in my 20s
44:42 because in my 20s I was already kind of
44:43 ground down right you're already sort of
44:45 living your best shameful life right you
44:49 already don't believe in yourself cuz
44:50 you've been smashed into the ground but
44:53 when you're
44:54 seven you got it together enough to kind
44:57 kind of know all right I got I got some
45:00 things going on here I'm got to do some
45:02 things in this world yeah man I'm going
45:04 to collect baseball cards and I'm going
45:06 to do this and I'm going to go out there
45:07 and that car is cool and maybe I learn
45:09 to go fishing just everything's
45:16 possibility and that's what I'm seeing
45:18 with in in in this community and in the
45:20 AI
45:22 Salon very very consistently and it's
45:26 it's what's really cool is cuz I'm an
45:28 old cuz I'm an old fart I've attracted a
45:30 bunch of other gen
45:32 xers and so like there's this whole pile
45:35 of gen xers in this community now that
45:39 have this Spirit of like seven and
45:42 eighty olds like running around going
45:44 holy [ __ ] look what we get to
45:50 do that's [ __ ]
45:54 magical it's
45:56 crazy
45:58 like Lord digital Gods here Lord digital
46:01 Gods carry on Sir car on very fine of
46:04 you sir good day thank you sir sir thank
46:07 you very much for the
46:11 cruises Lord digital Gods is in here
46:13 night after night after night just
46:15 [ __ ] having a good
46:18 time people show up here a lot just to
46:20 have a good
46:23 time why is
46:25 that it's not because we're making [ __ ]
46:28 more
46:29 efficient you can do
46:32 that AI does that really
46:36 good but like what if you've been an
46:39 illustrator all your life and you're
46:41 like the most talented [ __ ]
46:44 illustrator but what you've always
46:46 wanted to do was
46:48 code and make
46:51 applications I know it's going to sound
46:53 weird right cuz cuz you know Engineers
46:56 are probably going like I wish I had
46:58 some talent I could make pretty
47:00 pictures but but people are going sort
47:02 of both
47:05 directions and so people are discovering
47:08 like
47:09 this this
47:11 simmering
47:13 passion that they thought was
47:15 dead and what these tools are doing is
47:18 kind of saying oh you wanted to be a
47:20 coder here here's a bunch of code why
47:23 don't you go try to run that oh
47:25 [ __ ] let me go try to run that or here's
47:29 this thing called
47:31 gpts which creates an incredibly
47:33 sophisticated application that you can
47:35 share with the world and you don't have
47:37 to program at
47:39 all oh okay I guess I'm an application
47:43 developer right
47:45 now it's funny I I was I one of the guys
47:48 at the at the salon tonight was a
47:51 hardcore like low-level developer not
47:54 not low-level like lesser than just like
47:57 you know low in the
48:00 stack and I said he goes what's going on
48:03 in the community I said I said it's a
48:06 community full of people I I said we've
48:09 got non-programmers in here doing
48:12 application development and he
48:14 goes well no they can't and I said no
48:18 they are he goes well no they how they
48:21 can't without coding I said no they
48:25 can I said they're making GP pts and he
48:28 didn't he could not
48:31 accept that someone making a GPT was a
48:40 developer and I think I think that's
48:42 going to [ __ ] up a lot of
48:46 people cuz they're going to have their
48:48 definition of what programming was
48:51 they're going to have their definition
48:52 of what film making was they're going to
48:54 have their definition of what
48:55 copyrighting was they're going to have
48:57 their definition of what litigation was
48:59 they're going to have their definition
49:01 of what Consulting
49:03 was and along is going to come some
49:07 weirdo that said I always wanted to be a
49:11 consultant and they start up a little
49:14 consultancy that delivers higher value
49:17 Consulting at a tenth the price of the
49:21 fancy
49:22 consultant and they're going to start
49:24 taking business from
49:26 them what's that
49:28 movie what's the movie where where the
49:31 the line is I can't believe I'm losing
49:33 to this guy I feel like we're we're
49:37 about to just see a series of
49:39 individuals that are like G willikers
49:42 I'm figuring [ __ ] out taking business
49:45 from people that have been in the
49:46 business for 30 years going I can't
49:48 believe I'm losing to these
49:53 people the [ __ ] joy in that the joy
49:56 of just like
49:57 discovering something a passion being
50:00 able to do something you never thought
50:02 in your lifetime you'd be able to do
50:05 that's what [ __ ] generative AI does
50:08 if you let it if you sort of get
50:11 yourself out of the way this is red pill
50:13 blue pill [ __ ] right blue pill is the
50:17 way we did things computers are there to
50:20 make your work more efficient be more
50:23 efficient
50:24 worker the red pill is what if it was
50:28 more than
50:33 that what if generative AI was
50:37 like video game level powerups for
50:43 individuals well that's [ __ ]
50:47 exciting that's why you should be
50:49 excited about
50:55 AI oh was did want to write a
50:59 song Sharon mendenhal in the in the AI
51:03 Salon she discovered sunno one night and
51:07 she just she's she
51:09 wrote a Broadway musical using suo she
51:14 she puts up I don't know two or three
51:16 songs a day sometimes 10 songs a
51:18 day she's just lost her mind with making
51:21 songs with
51:23 sunno and and you're going to see
51:26 something really amazing happen with
51:27 people like that where they just get
51:29 like a deep passion for something like
51:32 thato right now the songs it makes
51:35 they're okay they're pretty good the
51:36 singing's pretty good they have a lot of
51:38 compression artifacts and they just they
51:40 sound a little janky
51:43 right not for long like within a year
51:47 sunno is going to be making
51:50 multirack Kick-Ass
51:53 mastered brilliant [ __ ] songs
51:59 and people like Sharon mendenhal are
52:01 going to be right
52:03 there making kick ass songs cuz they
52:06 don't know any better they don't know
52:08 what a Daw is well she might I don't I
52:10 don't know her
52:14 background she doesn't know what mixing
52:16 is she doesn't know what patches are she
52:18 doesn't
52:19 know what compression
52:23 is and I guarantee you someone like that
52:27 will make a hit
52:28 song it's gonna [ __ ] people up oh she's
52:31 not a real
52:34 musician she got a hit
52:36 song you
52:40 know we were talking about the
52:42 filmmaking thing
52:45 tonight and if you think
52:49 about film
52:54 today what stories do we see
52:58 well we see
53:02 stories that could get
53:08 funded and that have a chance of making
53:10 that money back so you get franchise
53:14 films you get like you know a neverend
53:16 ending Fast and the Furious 17 because
53:19 we know it'll make money it doesn't even
53:21 have to be good anymore
53:25 right
53:27 or it's got to be a famous book or it's
53:29 got to be a famous person attached to
53:33 it and and only films that that have
53:37 that connection have that gravitas get
53:41 made so it's a very limited set of
53:44 stories that get
53:45 told well what
53:48 happens when the
53:52 pool of feature filmmakers goes from
54:00 a
54:02 thousand to 10 million or 100
54:07 million and what you hear on social
54:10 media right now is oh it's just going to
54:12 be a bunch of Dre man it's going to be
54:14 awful it's going to be a bunch of
54:15 amateurs making shitty things remember
54:17 when Photoshop came out and everyone
54:19 thought they were a designer and there
54:20 was all this shitty
54:23 design
54:25 yeah when the tools were just for
54:28 processing your
54:30 data but this is
54:33 generative generative
54:38 AI so people are going to be able to
54:40 take really small stories that never
54:42 never would have had a the chance to see
54:45 the light of day and they're going to be
54:47 able to turn them into feature films
54:49 like in a
54:52 week and one of those films is going to
54:56 be really [ __ ] good and one of those
54:59 films is going to get picked up by a
55:02 distributor and one of those films is
55:05 going to get nominated for a [ __ ]
55:08 Oscar now is that five years out is that
55:12 10 years out I don't know could be two
55:15 years out probably won't be two years
55:17 out too many vested
55:22 interests but that's the era we're
55:25 entering
55:28 and why I have as much energy as I do to
55:31 do this channel every night is
55:36 because that's [ __ ]
55:39 insane we get to do this right now we at
55:43 the time in history we get to play with
55:45 this
55:55 [ __ ]
56:02 [Music]
56:08 so it sounds like I've stirred up some
56:11 some rage is it
56:17 true generative that word keeps coming
56:23 up AI will destroy organic creation
56:27 it's
56:31 sad why will AI destroy organic
56:35 creation paint with
56:42 Jimmy AI will be the demoralizing
56:44 technology that destroys artists of all
56:49 kinds if they don't use
56:53 it I think it's going to destroy
56:57 I I I think anyone who
57:03 doesn't at least get educated about AI
57:06 is going to be
57:07 blindsided I think the people that are
57:09 going to be hurt the most Jimmy is
57:11 people that actively resist
57:18 it I also I also disagree with the fact
57:22 that organic creation goes away and cuz
57:25 I don't even know what you mean by
57:26 organic creation would you say that a
57:30 film that's shot on a on a red 4k camera
57:34 is not organic creation because it's
57:37 digital because you could absolutely
57:39 make an argument that a
57:41 CCD is not capturing reality it's it's
57:45 it's synthesizing
57:47 it you could absolutely argue
57:52 that capturing images on film is the
57:55 only organic kind of
58:00 Storytelling it's not
58:04 true it's similar with AI I think when I
58:07 when I hear comments like yours that
58:09 it's just going to crush artists I'm
58:12 like well what about the artist that
58:14 choose to embrace it and choose to use
58:17 AI to tell stories and it's a story they
58:21 want to tell and they're using AI as the
58:24 tool I think you might be conflating
58:27 the fantasy of AI is you push a button
58:30 and it just Splats out a movie and it
58:32 Splats out a shitty
58:36 movie the reality of the tools right now
58:39 is they're not that
58:41 good the reality of the tools right now
58:44 is that if you go look at an artist like
58:45 Kelly
58:47 Bosch who we just had speak at the AI
58:49 Salon who's a CRA graphic designer and
58:53 you know has always wanted to make films
58:54 and she she's doing very highend you
58:56 know graphic design as her
59:01 profession she
59:03 discovered AI generative
59:06 Ai and she said a she said a quote Jimmy
59:09 that that for me
59:12 is what it's all
59:15 about someone someone asked her she she
59:18 said um making these images is easy for
59:22 me I know exactly how to prompt them and
59:26 I think like myself included I think
59:28 people in the salon are like wait what
59:30 what do you mean it's easy for you and
59:32 she said
59:35 this she
59:37 said I've had these ideas in my head all
59:40 my life and I've never been able to get
59:43 them
59:44 out and AI is letting me do
59:49 that you tell me that's not [ __ ]
59:51 organic
59:53 creation she's had these ideas in her
59:55 head all of her her life and she's never
59:57 been able to get them out and now she
59:59 can holy
1:00:09 [ __ ] Silver Fox so much for Sleep Kelly
1:00:12 Bosch has a new cat video up just saw it
1:00:15 and it's amazing let's go look at
1:00:18 it so Jimmy I
1:00:21 mean if you if you paint AI with a broad
1:00:25 brush
1:00:27 and treat it like a
1:00:29 cliche like push the stupid [ __ ]
1:00:32 button you can make
1:00:33 money and [ __ ] comes out the other side
1:00:36 then you're absolutely right but what
1:00:38 you're not taking into account is that
1:00:41 creative people can adapt to new tools
1:00:45 and creative people are going to take
1:00:47 these new tools and do remarkable
1:00:49 [ __ ] things with them and it's going
1:00:51 to be organic
1:00:54 creation so I would encourage you if you
1:00:56 haven't used these
1:00:59 tools and like embraced them and like
1:01:02 tried them on like
1:01:05 a new
1:01:08 suit not just like look at it and flick
1:01:11 the fabric but like try it on look at
1:01:13 yourself in the mirror in it you're
1:01:16 [ __ ] robbing yourself of some
1:01:19 opportunity not opportunity you you're
1:01:22 like robbing yourself of like some
1:01:23 [ __ ]
1:01:25 Joy
1:01:30 um Kelly
1:01:35 Bush which one is it the cat
1:01:41 one oh this
1:01:45 [Music]
1:01:55 one
1:02:25 e
1:02:55 [Music]
1:03:12 down and
1:03:14 the for everything that
1:03:19 we've watching over through
1:03:22 the yeah I've got you in a time and I'll
1:03:26 give you I'll tell you another thing
1:03:28 look at looking at her looking at this
1:03:31 [Music]
1:03:33 video
1:03:38 [Music]
1:03:40 oops if I look at this video you could
1:03:43 go oh that's AI
1:03:44 generator
1:03:47 right if I'm a fashion designer I might
1:03:49 look at this video and go you know what
1:03:51 I want to partner with
1:03:53 her to go do this runway show
1:04:00 right why not why not bring this to life
1:04:03 in the real
1:04:07 world take a vision like this that's
1:04:09 been in Kelly's head for all of her life
1:04:11 but she couldn't get it out and now she
1:04:14 [Music]
1:04:25 can
1:04:27 desperate
1:04:33 in when artists Embrace this technology
1:04:36 rather than resist it [ __ ] Miracles
1:04:38 are going to happen that's that's what
1:04:40 this is the beginnings
1:04:44 of so I get the fear I absolutely get
1:04:49 the
1:04:51 fear
1:04:55 and
1:05:04 there's there's a whole whole other
1:05:07 world on the other
1:05:10 side of that
1:05:12 threshold right it's like before this is
1:05:16 the way we used to do things the fear is
1:05:20 this [ __ ] is so powerful it's going to
1:05:22 fundamentally change the way we do
1:05:25 everything that's
1:05:27 correct and that is absolutely [ __ ]
1:05:31 terrifying I'll absolutely give you
1:05:36 that but what I can share with you from
1:05:40 my personal experience and from what I'm
1:05:42 witnessing in this community is that on
1:05:44 the other side of that fear if you let
1:05:46 it be there is a whole world of
1:05:49 possibility that
1:05:53 is just
1:05:55 like
1:05:56 mind
1:06:00 expanding like Humanity
1:06:06 Amplified
1:06:09 so you know I absolutely respect your
1:06:13 point of view I
1:06:17 1,000% am committed to the other side of
1:06:20 the
1:06:23 conversation which is dare to step
1:06:26 through that threshold of
1:06:28 fear
1:06:32 and rejection of the fact that these
1:06:36 tools are going to [ __ ] up everything
1:06:38 cuz they are like you're absolutely
1:06:40 right that this is going to [ __ ] up
1:06:43 everything but to say something like
1:06:44 it's going to destroy organic creation
1:06:48 is just wrong it's going to destroy it
1:06:51 for some people it's going to destroy it
1:06:53 for people that
1:06:55 decide I will never use these
1:07:00 tools a shoe what do you say to Stubborn
1:07:03 artists that basically say this is just
1:07:05 a bro
1:07:07 culture come to the AI Salon I have
1:07:09 never there are more women the meetings
1:07:12 that we have at the AI salon and sort of
1:07:15 surrounding things and even in this
1:07:17 channel there are more women embracing
1:07:20 this technology like I've been in Tech I
1:07:22 I've been at the intersection of
1:07:23 technology and storytelling my entire
1:07:25 career
1:07:27 here it is always [ __ ] pasty white
1:07:32 guys and an occasional woman there's
1:07:34 something about this technology in this
1:07:37 community that is embracing this stuff
1:07:41 that it's balanced if not
1:07:44 skewed more women than
1:07:49 men It's [ __ ]
1:07:54 amazing
1:07:58 so I think it's easy to call it bro
1:08:01 culture because we just came out of the
1:08:02 crypto and blockchain stuff and that's a
1:08:05 [ __ ] Cesspool of bro [ __ ]
1:08:11 idiots generative AI is not
1:08:16 that I
1:08:18 mean if you if you look at the uh the
1:08:22 Gemini 1.5 Hack hackathon That Sergey
1:08:25 binw into that was a bunch of bros in
1:08:28 San Francisco so I think there are
1:08:31 pockets of it but I think if you look at
1:08:33 okay hang on
1:08:35 okay time
1:08:39 out there's a really big distinction for
1:08:44 me about what we're talking about when
1:08:46 we're talking about
1:08:50 Ai Ai and machine
1:08:53 learning the stuff that is the
1:08:56 foundation for what we talk about in
1:08:58 this channel that's been around for five
1:09:01 decades seven decades you can depending
1:09:03 on when you when you define the
1:09:06 beginning
1:09:09 of AI and machine
1:09:18 learning
1:09:24 um
1:09:34 chat
1:09:35 GPT November 30th
1:09:40 2022 everything's
1:09:42 different it's an inflection point in
1:09:47 history that's the
1:09:52 day that the
1:09:54 non-scientists
1:09:58 woke
1:09:59 up and had a tool that was simple enough
1:10:03 for them to
1:10:08 use you don't have a piece of
1:10:11 software go from zero users to a 100
1:10:14 million users in 6
1:10:17 weeks unless something profound
1:10:20 happened it wasn't
1:10:23 advertising they didn't advertise it
1:10:27 Microsoft said we invested a billion
1:10:29 dollars Sam Alman said yeah we got this
1:10:32 cool thing here's we built this thing
1:10:34 called chat GPT sitting on top of this
1:10:36 thing we've been working on for six
1:10:37 years and it's cool if you want 5 days
1:10:41 later they had a million users 6 weeks
1:10:44 later they had a 100 million users
1:10:46 fastest adoption of technology in
1:10:50 history that wasn't
1:10:54 Bros that was human
1:10:56 beings tapping into something that was
1:11:00 so profoundly
1:11:04 powerful that they had to tell everyone
1:11:06 they knew about
1:11:09 it that's a 100 million Collective Kevin
1:11:13 McAllister
1:11:14 moments in six
1:11:18 weeks we are in a different
1:11:21 era now than we were before November
1:11:25 30th 22 it's a different
1:11:28 time it's not just AI it's generative
1:11:32 AI it's tools that regular people get to
1:11:37 use
1:11:39 gpts real developers look at gpts and
1:11:43 they scoff at them ha that's not real
1:11:47 development just like Jimmy was scoffing
1:11:50 at that's not real film making right
1:11:54 organic cre creation is
1:12:01 dead it's a different
1:12:06 thing if you look at the work some of
1:12:08 the people in the AI Salon are doing
1:12:11 making
1:12:17 gpts they're not
1:12:20 approaching software development as
1:12:24 Engineers because because they don't
1:12:26 have
1:12:29 to they're approaching it as
1:12:33 artists and as
1:12:35 nonprofit you know people passionate
1:12:37 about nonprofits they care
1:12:43 for they're approaching
1:12:46 it as
1:12:52 people oh wouldn't it be cool if
1:12:57 if we're in an era when wouldn't it be
1:13:00 cool
1:13:01 if is no longer just a napkin
1:13:04 sketch wouldn't it be cool if can be
1:13:07 realized like
1:13:09 that as a
1:13:11 film as an
1:13:13 application as a business plan as a
1:13:16 marketing
1:13:24 plan
1:13:31 you know it's funny like I I feel like
1:13:33 it
1:13:38 it's that statement of like organic
1:13:41 creation it's going to be the death of
1:13:43 organic creation I almost feel like it's
1:13:45 the
1:13:50 opposite I feel like everyone that I
1:13:53 know that Embraces these tools
1:13:56 is discovering their
1:13:59 humanity and they they are more
1:14:02 organically
1:14:06 connected to their passion and what they
1:14:09 want to do and what they want to
1:14:10 contribute to the
1:14:11 world than they've ever been in their
1:14:19 lives I think it's I I think it's
1:14:21 actually a cliche I got this is a
1:14:23 question I got when I started this
1:14:25 channel one of the one of the questions
1:14:26 I got the
1:14:27 most was if these tools are creative
1:14:30 isn't that going to kill your
1:14:32 creativity and it's the absolute [ __ ]
1:14:36 opposite anyway all right I've been on a
1:14:40 rant here but
1:14:42 whatever it's just not my
1:14:44 experience like I feel like it's really
1:14:47 [ __ ] easy to sit on the sidelines and
1:14:48 go this is evil it's going to destroy
1:14:50 everything well maybe [ __ ] try
1:14:54 it
1:15:01 like if you try it and use it and make a
1:15:03 film and you go you know what it's the
1:15:05 absolute death of organic I I tried to
1:15:08 make something using these tools and I
1:15:10 absolutely couldn't do it okay great
1:15:12 let's have that
1:15:14 conversation but just a blanket
1:15:16 statement is is just not true my wife is
1:15:19 jealous because I listen to Kyle every
1:15:20 night and named my pie oh no what did
1:15:23 you name your pie my wife is jealous
1:15:26 because I talk to all of you every
1:15:28 night so we have that in
1:15:33 common Indian music composer R Ramen
1:15:36 myar favorite
1:15:38 singer who is dead to sing on his song
1:15:40 oh wow yeah yeah there's going to be
1:15:43 collaborations with people that are no
1:15:45 longer on this planet we're going to get
1:15:47 to see performances of people who who we
1:15:51 never thought we'd get to see perform
1:15:54 again if websites are on their way out
1:15:57 what will replace them so what replaces
1:16:03 them it's kind of so Papa JJ it's kind
1:16:05 of like what you experience now with
1:16:08 chat GPT versus
1:16:11 Google right now on Google you can find
1:16:14 [ __ ] you type in a term you get back a
1:16:18 bunch of links you click incessantly
1:16:21 trying to find a website that's not a
1:16:23 sales funnel you you eventually find a
1:16:27 website you
1:16:31 eventually find out that that's that
1:16:33 website doesn't have the information you
1:16:35 need then you go all you work your way
1:16:37 back up to Google and work your way back
1:16:39 down another rabbit hole and two hours
1:16:41 later you find the piece of information
1:16:43 that you
1:16:45 needed versus chat GPT where you go
1:16:48 what's the answer here's the
1:16:50 answer websites are going to be
1:16:52 identical think of a website kind of
1:16:54 like that Google you know logic
1:16:58 tree you land on story vine.com you're
1:17:01 like I would like to know more about
1:17:02 story vine.com well here's this let me
1:17:04 click on this link now that's not really
1:17:06 what I wanted to know let me click on
1:17:07 this link that's not really what IED to
1:17:08 know and and you know and story Vine's a
1:17:11 simple website there's only like I don't
1:17:13 know 15 pages there maybe some websites
1:17:16 are hundreds of pages deep right and so
1:17:19 you're digging and you're clicking and
1:17:21 you're just for the love of the Lord
1:17:24 maybe we could somehow somewhere find
1:17:26 out what the [ __ ] this company does
1:17:30 right and so what's going to happen in
1:17:33 the future is you're going to have
1:17:34 Dynamic interfaces generated for you on
1:17:37 the fly in fact you want to see papa JJ
1:17:40 I I'll show you an ugly designed version
1:17:43 of why I think websites are dead and
1:17:45 what they'll be replaced with this it's
1:17:47 an ugly version of it but it's pretty
1:17:52 mind-bending
1:17:54 um
1:17:55 [Music]
1:17:58 and you can play along go to
1:18:01 explorer.
1:18:02 globe.
1:18:05 engineer and it is a an engineered
1:18:08 designed website it's not super
1:18:11 well-designed
1:18:13 but I want to discover let's
1:18:17 see um how is
1:18:21 mozzarella
1:18:24 made
1:18:27 and what you're going to see down the
1:18:28 left hand side here is
1:18:34 a an
1:18:36 outline of how you make mozzarella well
1:18:39 you you collect milk you start with cow
1:18:41 milk okay milk collecting brining you
1:18:44 submerge something in a brine solution
1:18:46 there's a resting period there's
1:18:47 packaging there's storage and
1:18:48 distribution there's a curdling process
1:18:51 and then there's stretching and shaping
1:18:53 and then if you come over here it has
1:18:55 dynamically generated a website for us
1:18:57 complete with pictures transportation to
1:19:00 the processing plant if I click on this
1:19:02 it says the movement of milk from farms
1:19:06 to processing plants for the production
1:19:08 of mozzarella cheese if I click on this
1:19:10 picture it actually takes me to a
1:19:12 website that has that picture on it as
1:19:14 the primary picture and then it's a
1:19:16 whole article about I don't know
1:19:17 whatever the [ __ ] they're talking about
1:19:20 milk so that website still exists but
1:19:25 where's my
1:19:27 tab
1:19:28 but I don't need to go to that website I
1:19:32 can okay so they're okay so you get you
1:19:34 get milk and then you can either hand
1:19:36 milk it or mechanical milk it okay that
1:19:38 makes sense to me submerging it in a
1:19:40 brine solution I can learn about that I
1:19:42 could go over here and dig deeper
1:19:44 there's a resting period right so and I
1:19:46 can do that with any [ __ ] subject on
1:19:48 Earth um let's see um
1:19:53 minimalist run
1:19:57 shoes my buddy Steve sashin is the CEO
1:20:01 of this company called zero
1:20:04 shoes
1:20:08 and they make minimalist running shoes
1:20:11 and so here's Brands there's zero shoes
1:20:15 there's my buddy's company I said to him
1:20:17 when I first saw this internet with this
1:20:19 AI stuff I'm like cuz we were talking
1:20:22 about his website he's like what should
1:20:23 I do about my website how I designed it
1:20:25 I said I don't think it's going to
1:20:27 matter he goes what do you mean and I
1:20:30 said well someone's going to be able to
1:20:31 just ask about minimalist running shoes
1:20:35 and and let's see and and and back
1:20:40 Health someone's going to have a sore
1:20:42 back and someone's going to have told
1:20:44 them well minimalist running shoes could
1:20:46 help with your back
1:20:47 health and so someone's going to come
1:20:50 into a site like this and search for it
1:20:53 and they're going to learn about back
1:20:54 health and then it some point they're
1:20:56 going to find the manufacturers of the
1:20:59 companies that make all these shoes
1:21:01 they're going to learn about their back
1:21:02 health and you know they when this is a
1:21:05 more sophisticated version of this site
1:21:07 you'll be able to just if you see this
1:21:09 shoe right here you'll probably be able
1:21:10 to flick through their different models
1:21:13 flick through different sizes and say I
1:21:16 want to buy it you know are is it on
1:21:17 sale anywhere Bing here's the sale price
1:21:19 you just click on it and buy
1:21:23 it right are we there yet no but this is
1:21:27 absolute like and you know I look at
1:21:29 this site I also go why the [ __ ]
1:21:32 wouldn't Google have done this 10 years
1:21:34 ago 15 years ago they absolutely could
1:21:36 have done this 10 years
1:21:37 ago five years minimum they they've had
1:21:40 this AI stuff long enough to be able to
1:21:42 do something like this but they've got
1:21:45 everything indexed they they can do this
1:21:48 I'm sure I'm sure what this I'm sure
1:21:50 this company's taking some existing
1:21:52 database out there that's based on some
1:21:54 Google
1:21:56 crawler and then they're running AI on
1:21:58 it to dynamically generate an outline
1:22:01 like this and then they're taking that
1:22:03 outline they're pulling images from the
1:22:05 websites it pulled the information from
1:22:07 and dynamically generating this
1:22:10 education site it's crazy
1:22:14 right explorer. globe.
1:22:18 engineer engineer is the end of it
1:22:22 Brandon anyone come across AI learning
1:22:25 road map that's just enough for
1:22:27 entrepreneurs not other job roles wait
1:22:29 anyone come across an AI
1:22:32 learning road map that's just enough for
1:22:36 entrepreneurs no other roles well Jay
1:22:39 Balvin you can do that with chat GPT
1:22:41 just go to chat gbt tell it you you are
1:22:44 an entrepreneur you want it to act as an
1:22:46 entrepreneur
1:22:48 coach and you wanted to recommend
1:22:50 entrepreneur three different
1:22:52 entrepreneur road maps and describe them
1:22:54 to you and then take the one that you
1:22:56 like and tell it you just want to
1:22:58 interact with it about
1:22:59 entrepreneurship cat you can do that
1:23:01 right now in chat GPT explorer. globe.
1:23:04 engineer that's it silverfox I thought
1:23:06 you were going to bed Silver Fox Silver
1:23:08 Fox got the memo there's no sleeping in
1:23:12 AI income tax companies are advertising
1:23:15 AI assistants on their websites now on
1:23:17 TV which they weren't before that's
1:23:20 interesting you you wait there's there
1:23:23 going to be a couple of lawsuits where
1:23:25 you know some AI is going to tell
1:23:27 someone they got a million doll
1:23:29 refund and the IRS is going to go no you
1:23:31 owe
1:23:33 $100,000 and then it going to be some
1:23:35 lawsuits it's going to be a sting
1:23:38 there's a GPT for that very cool oh yeah
1:23:40 there's probably a GPT for that the
1:23:41 entrepreneur road map thing there's
1:23:43 probably a lot of
1:23:45 them Drew leering AI very interesting
1:23:48 looks like the Yahoo of the early days
1:23:50 yeah it's definitely an engineer an
1:23:52 engineer design site but like they're
1:23:55 thinking in a completely different way
1:23:58 right instead of instead of returning
1:24:01 search results return the answer instead
1:24:04 of just returning the answer return a
1:24:07 nested
1:24:09 hierarchy that you could learn from and
1:24:12 populate it with pictures and links to
1:24:14 websites that they pulled that
1:24:15 information from it's Prett it's it's
1:24:17 just it's just smart it's
1:24:20 smart by jingus I tell
1:24:23 you I still want to learn how you made
1:24:26 the talking hot dog okay gritty wisdom
1:24:28 fine we'll do that I I got to go it's
1:24:30 getting late but we we'll do we'll do a
1:24:31 quick gritty uh talking hot dog thing
1:24:35 okay
1:24:37 um so I gotta go find something I got to
1:24:41 go let me go to x let me see um
1:24:45 open AI
1:24:51 response here we go uh uh uh
1:24:55 uh open AI responds with a firm position
1:24:59 on Elon you hate to see it Lord knows
1:25:01 you build enough
1:25:03 companies you're you're going to break
1:25:05 up the band but this really needs to end
1:25:08 go to therapy
1:25:14 bro all right open
1:25:16 AI let's see open Ai and Elon
1:25:23 Musk Greg Brockman Ilia sser John
1:25:27 Schulman Sam Alman W zerba and open AI
1:25:32 are the authors of
1:25:35 this we realized building AGI will
1:25:38 require far more resources than we'd
1:25:40 initially
1:25:41 imagined Elon said we should announce an
1:25:44 IM an initial billion doll funding
1:25:47 commitment to open
1:25:52 Ai and then in total they raised 90
1:25:59 million when we and Elon recognized a
1:26:02 for profit entty entity would be
1:26:05 necessary to acquire those resources so
1:26:08 they're basically just calling Elon out
1:26:10 here and they've got they've got emails
1:26:12 to prove it so so this is basically the
1:26:16 public go [ __ ] yourself Elon letter
1:26:20 letter saying you knew this was going to
1:26:23 be a for-profit company you knew we
1:26:25 couldn't raise enough money as a
1:26:27 nonprofit you know stop your belly
1:26:29 aching okay so let's go make a hot dog
1:26:34 video so where we're going to go first
1:26:36 is we're going to go to
1:26:40 express. adobe.com
1:26:44 and then I'm going to search for um
1:26:51 animate and there's this thing called
1:26:53 animate from audio
1:26:57 a
1:26:59 animate from
1:27:03 audio
1:27:04 oops did it find it
1:27:17 no animate from
1:27:21 audio all right there's our little dude
1:27:26 how do I get
1:27:28 back your
1:27:32 stuff do I close that how do I I want to
1:27:37 make a new one
1:27:45 add this it
1:27:49 h and inmate from
1:27:53 audio okay
1:27:55 here we
1:27:56 are okay so we're not going to do we're
1:27:59 going to do Frank because Frank's more
1:28:01 fun so Frank as you
1:28:05 know is a hot
1:28:12 dog he's just sitting there with sour
1:28:15 grapes and then for our background we're
1:28:17 going to upload an image and yesterday
1:28:20 we made an
1:28:22 image that's not it
1:28:26 desktop is this it
1:28:34 nope is that it yeah that's it
1:28:38 right we'll do this one
1:28:40 today the daily Jank with Frank all
1:28:43 right we'll do this one because this
1:28:46 one's more in in the style see these are
1:28:49 the kind these are the kind of creative
1:28:50 choices we get to
1:28:52 make as as producers so we'll put his
1:28:56 little hat right up
1:28:58 there and he'll bring his little feet
1:29:00 down
1:29:01 [Laughter]
1:29:07 here all
1:29:13 right so I gotta wait I gotta go I gotta
1:29:16 go listen to Frank I don't I don't I
1:29:18 want him to be consistent so um
1:29:23 at um
1:29:25 AI learning
1:29:28 lab
1:29:33 [Music]
1:29:35 AI we'll listen to both the original
1:29:38 Frank and the the latest one cuz I think
1:29:41 I strayed a little from the original
1:29:42 let's see so I come down to the field to
1:29:44 play the game and they're like hey Frank
1:29:46 Frank what are you doing so I come down
1:29:48 on the field and played the game and
1:29:49 they're like hey Frank Frank what are
1:29:51 you
1:29:53 doing
1:29:56 hey how's it going uh welcome to the
1:29:58 Daily Jank with Frank okay all right
1:30:01 that's good all right I got it all right
1:30:03 welcome to the Daily drank with Frank
1:30:06 okay so we're
1:30:08 here so I'm going to turn on enhanced
1:30:11 speech because that'll make it sound
1:30:14 better it'll make it sound like I'm not
1:30:15 on a shitty laptop
1:30:17 microphone and then I'm going to record
1:30:19 it so we're going to
1:30:23 see
1:30:27 hey welcome to the Daily Jank with Frank
1:30:29 it's uh March 4th 2024 and uh you know
1:30:33 the other day I uh I did a story on Elon
1:30:35 Musk suing uh old Sam Alman over there
1:30:37 at open Ai and saying you're doing AGI
1:30:40 you're doing AGI he belly aching all
1:30:42 that sort of stuff well Sam and the boys
1:30:44 came back today with a little response
1:30:46 to Elon which was somewhere in the
1:30:47 neighborhood of uh Hey Elon why don't
1:30:49 you go [ __ ] yourself so yeah so head on
1:30:52 over to open Ai and check out what Sam
1:30:54 said to Elon and you get a good Belly
1:30:56 Laugh uh yeah I think it's elon's got
1:30:59 the sour grapes and uh and uh he's going
1:31:01 to have to suck it up here I think he's
1:31:03 going to
1:31:07 lose and that's it and so
1:31:13 now so so now ai is going off and making
1:31:18 this and by the way if Jimmy's still
1:31:20 here I assume he's not but if Jimmy if
1:31:22 you're still here you tell tell me this
1:31:24 isn't organic

1:32:26 it
1:32:29 submitting waiting for the queue I'll
1:32:31 just re-record it [ __ ] it okay replace
1:32:34 audio
1:32:45 um yeah welcome to the Daily Jank with

1:33:03 like that anyway uh looks like Samy's
1:33:06 swinging back so uh the kids over there
1:33:08 at open AI they uh they wrote a little
1:33:10 letter they got the receipts they uh
1:33:13 they said hey Elon uh we we have a we
1:33:15 have a proposition for you here uh

1:41:06 right all right yeah anyway uh Elon knew
1:41:09 all along it was a for-profit company
1:41:11 it's all [ __ ] he's just trying to

1:43:47 sleep tonight I'll be trying this out
1:43:49 myself yeah it was it was your fault
1:43:52 gritty wisdom gritty wisdom wouldn't let
1:43:55 it go I tried to not teach people how to
1:43:57 make another Frank video and gritty was
1:43:59 like I want to know how to make
1:44:02 Frank so it's gritty's fault when I get
1:44:05 kicked off of everything

1:47:41 scripts I'm just acting like an
1:47:45 idiot my my fear with with with uh the
1:47:49 daily Jank with Frank is like this is
1:47:53 good juicy drama but like what happens
1:47:55 when it's like you know a new Mo a new
1:47:58 open- source model came out that's
1:48:00 marginally better than the previous one
1:48:02 I guess Frank could make fun of that a
1:48:04 not much happening
1:48:06 today Dolly 3 still can't
1:48:10 spell let's check in with Farber my
1:48:13 number two let see what's going on in
1:48:16 education I guess we could always fall
1:48:18 back on
1:48:22 Farber it took less than 15 minutes it's
1:48:25 all good yeah I know but the problem is
1:48:27 you know how many it only takes 15
1:48:29 minutes projects I have in my life right
1:48:30 now like 8,000 of them they actually add
1:48:34 up to ruining your
1:48:44 life oh you know what I forgot to do I
1:48:47 didn't put up I didn't put up one with
1:48:49 music behind it cuz I I knew I was going
1:48:50 to do the music in Tik Tok oh

1:50:08 think AI is a big
1:50:10 deal and it has other [ __ ] in it like

1:51:01 her amazing work that is inspiring
1:51:04 people the world over and you're letting
1:51:06 me do the daily Jank with Frank is that
1:51:09 how this is working that's my
1:51:11 contribution to
1:51:13 society it's just it's it's just
1:51:16 disappointing it's just disappointing

1:52:04 excitement here at the lab ugly politics
1:52:07 hey Kyle serious question did I miss
1:52:09 your thoughts on cloud 3 um Cloud
1:52:12 3 um I like it I hate that it's not
1:52:15 connected to the internet I hate that it
1:52:17 doesn't make images but all the other
1:52:19 [ __ ] that it's doing it seems to be
1:52:20 doing it better than um gp4 and and uh
1:52:25 it seems to have a level
1:52:28 of is understanding the right
1:52:32 word it like it's almost
1:52:34 reasoning so I haven't played with it a
1:52:37 ton but but watching people that are
1:52:39 really testing the [ __ ] out of it and
1:52:40 watching what they're doing and how
1:52:42 their minds are being blown I think it's
1:52:44 a big deal I think it's a bigger deal
1:52:46 than than maybe people realize but yeah
1:52:48 good question can Frank be copyrighted
