22. 5:57Perry music so I understand why she's freaked out about it and why she's pissed off about it but it's not going to stop so then what do we

28. 6:57Stewart um it the the thing that that he he succumbed to in my opinion um was he kind of stopped short
29. 7:11of he he tried to represent both sides a little bit but he kind of stopped short of like where he stopped was it's going
30. 7:18to take your jobs and it's evil because it's going to take your jobs what he didn't do which he normally does was
31. 7:24look a little bit into the future to say here's the kind of jobs it might generate or here's the kind of ways you
32. 7:30might be able to deal with this he just kind of let it be you know the sensationalist media message but you know whatever I love that AI

48. 10:501.5 which is supposed to be better um but we'll see so we'll see if it's if it's better um Google gem I was
49. 11:00really bad and then they released their 1.5 and their 1.5 was really good so maybe it's going to follow a similar a similar sort of thing is
50. 11:08that um it has to be better because the numbers are bigger chat G pt4 is better in that
51. 11:24comparison in which comparison chaty p is there something that grock is better at than chat GPT Pate not grock the hardware company
52. 11:34grock the Twitter chat GPT so it'll be a pile of poop that isn't steaming exactly exactly 1.5 will just be like like dried

54. 12:01AI pop in the comments below I'll do my best to answer them um I can I can demo stuff I figure we'll show some stuff tonight FSD 12.3
55. 12:11from Tesla is blowing Minds yeah Mike so here's here's one of the things that I think is quite significant about Tesla I
56. 12:19think I thought it was 12 12.4 something or is it 12.3.3 I don't know anyway whatever so Tesla released full self-driving for free for
57. 12:36all I think us drivers um for like a free trial I I think it's 12 Grand after that um and people are liking it a lot
58. 12:46but there was something that was said in the um in the announcement of the full self-driving that I thought was actually quite
59. 12:56significant what they said was and I I don't I don't have the words exactly so if I get some of the terminology wrong
60. 13:02but basically what they said was the new version of full self-driving is a neural net so it's basically like
61. 13:12you know the equivalent of a large language model it's it's it's it's a um it's an AI engine rather than a coded engine and
62. 13:23what they said in the announcement was that that full self-driving is is a uh is a neural net and they threw out 300,000 lines of C++
63. 13:39code so here's why that's significant historically with computers if you wanted them to do something you had to
64. 13:46tell them what to do so what full self-driving was up to this point was a lot of coding a lot of logic that
65. 13:53programmers wrote in that said if you see a a a round you know uh octagonal sign with white letters in it then
66. 14:03that's a stop sign and here's the rules for what you do and they wrote all that logic that was all thrown
67. 14:11out or 300,000 lines of it I assume it was a fair amount of the code base was thrown out for uh you know a a a machine learning
68. 14:22model a neural network that's a big deal I think that a lot of compan um are going to be faced with that
69. 14:35decision right where the it Department's like here's all the [ __ ] we've built and then some AI tools are going to come
70. 14:44along and at some point you know they will suck less and they'll have security and things like that but a completely different Paradigm
71. 14:53of application developments going to come along and and it organizations are going to be for fored with this Choice do we
72. 15:01maintain this massively complicated logic based code base or do we give it up for this AI thing the AI obviously
73. 15:09needs to get better before that can happen but I think um competitive advantages are going to be forged by the
74. 15:17companies who can move quickly and not get precious about the technology they've built I think this is how
75. 15:24startups are going to be funded moving forward I think this is how large companies are going to survive is which companies are willing
76. 15:36to look at those two choices and and choose the choose the one that that requires less maintenance and is just more effective
77. 15:48right he didn't throw out the code he didn't throw out 300 lines of code or 300,000 lines of code um because it required people to write
78. 15:59he threw them out cuz they didn't work as good and not because those people were bad programmers it's just it's a
79. 16:05different thing when you have a system when you have a neural network that learns the behavior of what it means to
80. 16:11drive well versus human beings have to coding code in that logic it's just a different thing have you seen open CV um I don't think
81. 16:23so sounds familiar though open CV computer vision Library oh
82. 16:41nice yeah open CV is the world's largest computer vision Library nice oh that's cool oh okay cool I mean here's the deal they've got they've
83. 16:55got what 20 years or 15 years of a video of of cars doing things well and poorly so I think they're fine on that
84. 17:05but yeah that's the ability to train on big models like that it's very cool or big data sets like that Kyle
85. 17:13have you seen the Sor short film called Airhead yeah Airhead is really good here we we can we can play airhead I I played
86. 17:19this the day it came out but it's it's a fun one to watch um let's see uh open a i.com
87. 17:36blog if you haven't seen Airhead so Sora if you don't know what that is is open AI pending but unavailable video model
88. 17:47and then this was a um let's call this a PR play this was a blog post Sora First Impressions we've gained valuable
89. 17:57feedback from the creative Community helping us to improve our model and then like the first prompt they have here is
90. 18:04Sora is at its most powerful when you're not replicating the old but bringing New Life to Impossible ideas we would have
91. 18:12otherwise never had the opportunity to see well so isn't that nice this is a PR paper this is a PR blog post that
92. 18:23basically says see this isn't going to take all the creative jobs the creatives love us look at the videos they made and
93. 18:30look they're saying cool things like it's not going to take your job uh yeah this is whatever I don't give this much credibility
94. 18:40but what they did do was they put out uh some videos and some most of the videos are like 7 Seconds long but this one
95. 18:47from this group out of uh Toronto called shy kids um put together this video which I think is quite good [Music]
96. 19:08well they say everyone has something unique about them something that sets them apart it's just in my case you know
97. 19:14it's quite obvious what that thing is I am literally filled with hot air yeah living like this has its challenges
98. 19:23uh windy days for one are particularly Troublesome or there was a one one time my girlfriend insists that I go to the
99. 19:30cactus store to get my Uncle Jerry a wedding present what do I love most about my predicament the perspective it gives me
100. 19:39you know I get to see the world differently I float above the mundane and the ordinary I see things a different way from everyone else yeah
101. 19:46and I feel like it's because of that perspective I'm reminded every day that life is fragile we're all just a pin
102. 19:52prick away from deflation so I try to live life with a lightness a buoyancy I got a lot of ideas keeping this thing
103. 20:03full with any luck I'll find a way to share them with everyone else right lovely and you know what what makes that good well it's good
104. 20:16storytelling it's good writing it's good acting it's good music it's good editing and then they happen to have a tool that makes some good

117. 22:41added an ability to refine your images thumbs up that they have added a shitty not very functional doesn't work most of the time tool not so

123. 24:11allow you to remix because it violates terms of service yeah and listen guys here's the deal with all these tools
124. 24:18right now expect them to be inconsistent expect them to be um frustrating expect them to be uh just this side of
125. 24:34usable and I mean the bad side of usable just they're like almost there they're almost transformative suo means listen Sora

140. 26:57wild is we are we're going to have those tools and it's going to seem normal it's going to seem normal that you can just
141. 27:04talk into a little box or just talk into your glasses and [ __ ] will happen things will go do stuff for
142. 27:14you the one the the one thing that's kind of blowing my mind right now that was in a I think it was in one of the Paul
143. 27:22rater yeah it was it was in like two or three weeks ago Paul rater's AI podast um he was talking about something that I
144. 27:33think Andre carpath had talked about years ago but about autonomous agents and what autonomous agents are is
145. 27:41like imagine a chat GPT that you could just give it a goal and then it would figure out all the steps it needs to do
146. 27:48and it would just go do that right so that's an autonomous agent but what they're more like is it's like it's like
147. 27:56you own the beehive and you give the Beehive a goal and then you have all these little drone bees that all go do
148. 28:04specific things so when you give one of these autonomous agents a goal it spins up a whole bunch of agents that it it
149. 28:12manages and then they all go often do different things just like worker bees and you know some will take care of the
150. 28:17hive and some will go out and get flowers and pollen and some will take care of the queen and and we're all going to
151. 28:26have a little little army of Agents that'll that'll work on our behalf and the the way they described it is
152. 28:37imagine having a company of a thousand employees at your disposal that that's what it's going to be like it's like whoa wait what like even
153. 28:50if I had a company of 10 employees at my disposal that were all good at stuff this one's good at DES this one's good
154. 28:58at coding this one's good at selling this one's good at right and I can just be the conductor the era of the the massively
155. 29:09successful solopreneur we're we're about to enter it how about a scenario where corporations have ai Wars cyberpunk style well
156. 29:19I it's so funny Chris like I think I I I think we're very much going to go there and I and I don't think it'll just be
157. 29:27Corporation fighting Corporation I think it's going to also be things like when we have that agent a you you know when we have autonomous
158. 29:42agents one of the tragedies in a in America right now is our health care System right and it's a tragedy because it's been privatized and
159. 29:54and um it's a for-profit system system right and so is insurance is a for-profit system and so what the insurance companies do is they
160. 30:05make it nearly impossible so not only is it ridiculously expensive it's nearly impossible to use their system they make
161. 30:15it overly complicated on purpose right so imagine a day which that day could be this year it could be next year it'll
162. 30:25likely be you know sometime later this year or early next year when you can just say hey um chat gbt or whatever the [ __ ] tool I'm
163. 30:36using go read my insurance policy and start negotiating on my behalf and then our my agent will go read my policy and we'll start
164. 30:49interacting with United Healthcare and then maybe right now it's people but it's probably Bots and so what it's
165. 30:59going to be is my AI Bots my autonomous agents are going to be interacting with their autonomous agents and then those
166. 31:06are going to be interacting with the doctor's autonomous agents and they can all go [ __ ] work that [ __ ] out just
167. 31:12get back to me when you've solved it and I you know I think that I mean that obviously sounds more convenient and it it sounds like it's
168. 31:22going to be more effective but that is by definition going to change how they do what they do because right now a big
169. 31:30part of their profit is based on human beings not being able to decipher the insanity well what happens when when
170. 31:38human beings can figure out all the loopholes and and exploit them what happens when we do that with the tax
171. 31:45code what happens right with all all that stuff so I just secretly cyborg my way through 12 hours of work in 20 minutes sorry not
172. 31:56sorry cuno Chris is Chris works for a major major company knock it out in an hour why not why not and then spend another hour
173. 32:08proofreading it make sure it's good right crazy they're going to write contracts in C++ with some string theory
174. 32:16to test you then yeah well you know they will um yeah the the battles the battles will ensue and and I mean it's going to be fascinating
175. 32:30um what's going to be fun for the next 5 years is those of us like those of you that come here and hang out and are
176. 32:37exploring this stuff and get curious about it we're going to start playing with autonomous agents before companies know
177. 32:46what AI is much less what autonomous agents are if you want to see a fun company that's that's doing this right
178. 32:53now there's a company called do not pay uh which is a a virtual lawyer that will dispute your parking tickets and things
179. 33:02like that and I think it's expanding now to do other law stuff um but that thing's really successful because it's interfacing with
180. 33:11systems that don't know it's a robot right it's inter it's interfacing with bureaucracies so it writes the
181. 33:19professional letters that bureaucracies respond to and it's doing it in an automated way what do I think of Devon
182. 33:25AI I think I think Devon AI um is a video right now I know some people have used it and the people have
183. 33:33used it said okay it's pretty good um it's it's pretty expensive it's pretty slow uh and by expensive basically you give it your open AI API
184. 33:45key and then it goes and just does a bunch of [ __ ] making all sorts of calls back and forth um and it's and it's janky but Devon for
185. 33:55me represents the first sort of acknowledged commercial application that is an autonomous agent right you give it a goal it creates a
186. 34:06project plan and it then Works its way through its project plan it's got a command line interface that it can you
187. 34:13know do stuff with it's got uh a development environment where it can write code and it's got a browser where
188. 34:23it can run the code and and test it and then it when it has a bug it goes and it finds where the bug was and it
189. 34:32puts in code to test the bug and it debugs itself and it rewrites the code and it gives you your stuff um it looks like the uh it looks like
190. 34:44the examples so far are pretty primitive but here's the thing here's what I think about Devon why I think Devon's interesting

205. 37:13Launchpad and tools this is a whole list of tools that I I personally maintain this list and recommend tools so if
206. 37:21you're trying to get started and figure out where do I begin uh we've got that we've got different um Show and Tell
207. 37:28areas for for music images video and apps and gpts um we've got guilds we've got creative business Tech and social
208. 37:36impact and then a bunch of different you know sub communities with within each of those guilds and then we even have
209. 37:42private clubs and we've got our own private club the Irregulars and so if you want to like do kind of a visual jam
210. 37:49session tonight um you just drop images in here and we can kind of you know hang out with each other and and do

215. 38:42long it's a lot so how many times have you been in a really long chat like that and somewhere up above you kind of
216. 38:51had an idea and you ran down a rabbit hole and you're and you're like I'd like to get back to some earlier part of the
217. 38:57conversation right or or there's just something earlier you want to rewrite the lyrics to a to a verse or whatever
218. 39:05so there's a new feature in chat GPT where you can actually do that so let's see Hello on the line what's your quest
219. 39:13okay that I don't like so let's I can highlight the verse in the chorus and notice now there's a this little quote
220. 39:22here and if I roll over it it says Reply so I'm actually going to reply to the thing I highlighted so you know
221. 39:31farther up in the conversation I highlight it I click on that little quote and It quotes it as part of my
222. 39:38prompt it's kind of like uploading a document or uploading an image it's quoting that little chunk you highlighted now I can go um rewrite
223. 39:51this to start um what's your
224. 40:07[Music] name and so it rewrites it like it knows to rewrite the verse in the chorus and nothing else and before there was no
225. 40:19really good way to do that my Samsung phone updated tonight and it's got all kinds of AI in it now oh yeah yeah it
226. 40:26looks like Samsung's throwing a bunch of stuff in there um be curious to know if you think it's any good
227. 40:35um so that's one thing and then that's the I don't know what that feature is called but basically highlight any text
228. 40:43in a in a conversation and then click on the quote button and you can interact with just that little chunk of text
229. 40:49which is I think that's pretty slick little feature and you know what I think almost no one will use that
230. 40:57not because it's not a great feature but because you have to be pretty much a power user to understand why you would
231. 41:03need to use it in the first place and then you have to be like a a ux sleuth to recognize that there's some button
232. 41:13there um you you know it just pops up this quote at the top of something you select not at the bottom where you
233. 41:21finish selecting it like if you drag down that quote is at the top right so if you do a long thing that quote's
234. 41:28going to go off the screen did you ever get to see the profile file in Silver from the 1980s Twilight
235. 41:36Zone we're in that Tech no I don't know profile in silver let me see Twilight oh let me do a new chat

425. 1:22:41space but once it's in there it's a relatively straightforward probability calculation you type a prompt and it
426. 1:22:50makes a probabilistic waiting of some token in Thousand dimensional mathematical space it's this really
427. 1:23:00cold calculation it's a calculator it's a probability calculator it's all it is and yet when you interact with
428. 1:23:10it it doesn't feel like that it doesn't feel like you're interacting with a bot it feels like you're interacting with a someone and you are
429. 1:23:25the the the the large language model itself is the tool the framework that goes and finds the data just like our
430. 1:23:39brain is the framework that goes and finds the data but it's the data that's the interesting thing and the data is
431. 1:23:48memories and stories and language and and and all of these um patterns of interacting with other humans right and the
432. 1:24:01world and so when you interact with chat GPT the framework is this cold framework but what you're interacting
433. 1:24:12with is like the output of humanity that's been put on the public internet for like the past five decades that's what you're interacting
434. 1:24:22with so in this really weird way we are all collaborating with our past selves collectively it's kind of a weird psychic
435. 1:24:36thing and I know if pate's in here P's going oh for [ __ ] sake it's math but I'm telling you that that's not
436. 1:24:45the experience the experience is weird Ethan mik says it all the time he goes it's weirder than that like I know it's technically a
