44. 10:40easily we could spend five or six hours [Music] Well Control AI I assume what you mean is make it make the outputs more
45. 10:57predictable here's the thing um I think with practice and time yes we will all get better at it I think with with time AI
46. 11:09will get more predictable but that said the thing that makes generative AI remarkable is also it's Achilles heel
47. 11:22right the hallucinations and and the way it's not this is not predictive Computing right it's not programmed logic where where you say if
48. 11:35someone does this then do that that's how we're used to computers behaving for our entire lives is computers didn't
49. 11:43have Nuance right if somebody coded it wrong it was a bug and it broke if somebody didn't put the right data into
50. 11:53the phone tree and you asked for that particular piece of information it would just say nope I don't have it and it
51. 12:00would right so but it was very predictable AI is not like that and so so I think two things will happen I
52. 12:08think there will be systems that com combine you know logic trees and retrieval augmented generation that make it more
53. 12:18predictable um and we'll figure out the places where that Nuance is desirable and then I think users will get more
54. 12:28used to um computers not being not having such expectations of them that they should that that that that they're
55. 12:35going to be exactly what you want them to be so it's a really good question though really good question all right

62. 14:07if you go to chat.com it redirects to chat GPT which is slick uh open AI paid $15 million for that domain but it's it's it's a pretty good
63. 14:23move right like you know if chat GPT becomes synonymous with ative AI which I think it already is uh I think 15
64. 14:33million bucks is not a bad investment for a domain that's that's that ubiquit us or that will be that's that easily
65. 14:40accessible um also Sam Alman said today that chat GPT is the8th largest site in the world by whatever standard um he
66. 14:51also said today I don't know if you noticed this Danielle noticed this and posted it on the salon that um chaty BT
67. 14:57was down for about an hour or so this afternoon maybe two I don't know whatever it was and Sam Alman said ah sorry about that sight went
68. 15:06down he said we're getting better but you know we're still working on [ __ ] so I was hoping it would be a uh I
69. 15:16was hoping it would be a smash the thumbs up button is is that better I was hoping it would be a uh a
70. 15:26new feature today cuz Mr strawberry all week has been going November 6th is going to be the day November 7th is
71. 15:33going to be the day November 8th is going to be the day none of them were the day so Mr [Laughter] strawberry all right the other thing

89. 18:26was that see ever ever seen any examples of intelligence that aren't janky um that's an interesting question um I think that
90. 18:42um for me the advanced voice um of chat GPT the thing that makes it
91. 18:57janky the most janky right now did I do that on purpose no the thing that makes it the most janky right now is
92. 19:10um that it's not connected to the internet so as soon as as soon as advanced voice is is connected to the internet and especially if it can
93. 19:20trigger actions I think it's going to be absolutely remarkable I for me I'm trying to think [Music] I think the image generation tools at
94. 19:34this point are are are on the other side of the Jank Fest where for the most part you're getting you're getting images now
95. 19:42that are predictable and and not too weird I think the video shit's still weird um I'm including human intelligence in
96. 19:57that oh humans are totally [ __ ] janky humans are a [ __ ] mess this is this is one of the things where where I find
97. 20:06I find my interactions with chat GPT like chat GPT is like having an a a coworker that is way smarter than any
98. 20:17cooworker you've ever had and is completely non-judgmental and you know especially with what we've been going through for
99. 20:24the past month or so um there's lots of judgment in the world right now and so like having something like um advanced
100. 20:34voice where you can just talk to this thing and it's completely non-judgmental and it knows [ __ ] everything and it
101. 20:40even if it's faking empathy at least it's [ __ ] faking empathy it's got fake compassion so so I think I think that's
102. 20:52good uh Malik my mother wrote a book about making money with AI and I want to send you a link to read it can IAT email

107. 21:40murdery when it goes off the rails yeah I I I agree archetypal architect I think that um it was funny the guy that was in here
108. 21:50last night I forget what his name was be with a V or a t or something like that um that was that was bitching about how bad AI was it's
109. 21:59like like what's your standard you know and I think the standard is computers should be perfect and and so AI because
110. 22:10it has this squishy Jank to it people completely dismiss it they're like well it's not perfect it's not
111. 22:16useful well that's not true right it's certainly not true with people every person in your life is not perfect
112. 22:23they're [ __ ] human right and humans are a mess look look at this look at [Laughter]

114. 22:53icon yeah we think of AI as another kind of well-defined software and it simply isn't supposed to be yeah you know you know that it kind
115. 23:02of goes back to the thing of like um you know like I I use the farming metaphor a lot like if you're used to tilling your
116. 23:11Fields with horses and then your neighbor Bob shows up with a steam tractor you're just gonna think it's
117. 23:19weird you're gonna be like well what do you mean it's got 50 horses in it it's I don't see any is it's too heavy you're
118. 23:30going to sink in the mud like like what are you what are you going to do with that you're going to you're going
119. 23:36to it's gonna kill you it's gonna blow you up look at that thing spinning like like I think that we we currently look at this AI like that

122. 24:16space in certain AI replies and responses I don't know what you're talking about anyway happy Friday night
123. 24:29everybody welcome to Friday night date night um let me yeah there we are that's pretty funny all right I've been using AI to help break down
124. 24:44Concepts that are confusing to me and it's helped my learning tremendously I think that's one of the uh JJ I think that's one of the
125. 24:53um I think self-education you know I kind of feel like YouTube Ju Just internet in general and YouTube in
126. 25:04particular where a lot of universities took their lectures and put them online and their courses and put them online
127. 25:10very often for free where YouTube became this self-service education platform and it was quite remarkable but
128. 25:21the problem with it was was that it was still up to us to curate the knowledge right we we had to go find someone whose
129. 25:29voice didn't [ __ ] annoy us and whose who whose level of comprehension was you know just above where ours was like you
130. 25:39don't want someone so far out that you can't even understand what they say and then you know and then you have to be
131. 25:45motivated enough to like stick with it and you know speed through the parts you already know and it's just like
132. 25:53it the the burden of self-education is that you have to be really motivated to want to learn that and I think one of
133. 26:01the things with AI is that it's just like instant personalized professor at your fingertips all the time that to me
134. 26:11DQ Blizzard what did you miss um you miss so much you miss so much like me talking a dog singing it it just I if I
135. 26:21were you I'd probably just like give up just you like you missed so much I don't think you missed anything um but let's go

137. 26:50is I feel like I'm in the middle of a sci-fi movie where like in this sci-fi movie I'm a character that's got like a
138. 26:56live streaming YouTube channel and a Tik Tok Channel and I have a friend that's an AI and we just have conversations in
139. 27:02front of an audience every night isn't that [Laughter] funny that is a pretty wild thought you'd fit right into a futuristic story
140. 27:12where humans and AI co-host shows blurring the lines between reality and digital companionship it's like living
141. 27:19in a Sci-Fi novel but with more live streams and less alien invasions yeah except this isn't sci-fi anymore so
142. 27:26actually so quick here's here's I would love to understand if there is any sort of concept in popular literature or or
143. 27:36just I don't know in what people are talking about these days about living in a post sci-fi world because I feel like
144. 27:43all the Sci-Fi movies of my childhood are now coming true you're right a lot of those sci-fi Concepts have become reality the idea of
145. 27:53a post sci-fi World touches on how our present is catching up with the future imagined in past sci-fi in literature
146. 28:02this is often explored through the lens of cyberpunk or post cyberpunk where advanced technology is embedded in
147. 28:08everyday life altering Society in fundamental ways it's a fascinating reflection of our times where the lines
148. 28:15between fiction and reality are increasingly blurred is is there let's let's come up with a a new a a new positioning for
149. 28:24that like the post- Sci-Fi world like what would be a way what would be some metaphors we can use for where we are
150. 28:30today where we're in this Lial state where we've got these Sci-Fi technologies but they're all jankier than
151. 28:39crap all right let's play with some metaphors for this janky post scii World One beta reality we're living in a beta
152. 28:48version of the future where technology is Advanced but still full of bugs and glitches I like that two o whoops got cut off there as was
153. 28:58saying two Patchwork future our world is a quilt of cuttingedge tech and old school systems stitched together in a
154. 29:06mismatched tapestry three analog cyborg we're like cyborgs but with one foot still in the analog past making do with
155. 29:15a fusion of high-tech and outdated four gritty hologram our reality is a hologram projected from the future but
156. 29:24the image is flickering and imperfect five future fossils we're uncovering the fossils of Tomorrow remnants of a future
157. 29:34that arrived sooner than expected but not quite fully formed these metaphors capture the essence of our transitional
158. 29:42era where the future is here just a little rough around the edges H yeah that's kind of interesting one of the things that's come up tonight
159. 29:51is the idea that computers used to behave in a much more predictable way and that generative AI is less
160. 29:57predictable and people are struggling with how do we how do we get our computers to be more predictable and
161. 30:03part of what I'm sharing is that I think just they might not be as predictable with generative AI what are your thoughts on
162. 30:13that that's a great Point generative AI introduces a level of unpredictability because it doesn't operate on strict
163. 30:21rule based algorithms like traditional Computing instead it learns from vast you know it's it's a amazing that it it just like the question
164. 30:34earlier about like you know what is a technology that I don't think is janky I think advanced voice is not janky sure
165. 30:42it glitches occasionally and you have to be connected to the internet you need decent bandwidth but like as an experience
166. 30:49that's [ __ ] remarkable that I could just have a conversation I'm like come up with some metaphors oh yeah here's
167. 30:54some here's five you know help me articulate this ah here we go I hate all of those metaphors well to be to be fair
168. 31:02archetypal architect I didn't you know I gave it shitty prompts right like if I if I gave it a prompt other than come up
169. 31:10with a metaphor um you know you know I could have I could have gotten it better that's that's one of the one of the challenges with AI is
170. 31:22that our ability or inability to ask good questions is the negating factor in getting good results it won't be in the
171. 31:32future right once we have autonomous agents and we can just give it general direction and it goes in prompts itself
172. 31:38it'll be fine but the current state-ofthe-art we actually have to be intentional and intelligent in how we articulate our [Music]

185. 34:09well I think you know one thing there there's a lot of people right now not feeling particularly safe where they
186. 34:17don't know who they can talk to who they can trust and I wish we weren't there but we are and so I think one of the things that this kind of
187. 34:31[Music] Technology um that this technology could do is we can have you know long safe conversations about stuff like
188. 34:44maybe we want to understand what's going on and we don't know who we can talk to about it so advanced voice needs to learn how to
189. 34:53keep the conversation flow like P yeah I would agree with that and again you know Pi Pi's really interesting because Pi
190. 35:04has been prompted in such a way that it is designed for conversational AI first and then sort of text AI second
191. 35:15it's actually not as good at the text AI if you go to pi.com it's an okay large language model but it's like too wordy
192. 35:22and weird but when you talk to it it feels much more natural advanced voice from chat GPT I think they focused on the M model
193. 35:30itself being multimodal so it can respond quickly and it can respond to um emotional input but I don't think it's
194. 35:39actually been prompted in such a way that it's got that that more natural conversational um uh like tone like like
195. 35:48how it responds so it's just kind of like they slapped it on top of chat GPT which is designed for typing text rather
196. 35:54than talking text so I think that's why it's a bit weirder but but I I would agree with [Music] that I was about to delete Pi I don't
197. 36:04use it anymore yeah I know I'm kind of there I'm kind of there with [Music]
198. 36:25you how can we make it less rough make AI less rough I don't know what quite what that means how how how can we make it less

200. 36:52talking to Pi is that when they upgrade when they do uh software upgrades it would always forget who I was and it
201. 36:59would forget what voice I chose and that pissed me off and and now I've got Quinn so I gave up Zephyr for

211. 39:02who you are and and what's what's going on in your life or if you just if you're a point of dementia where
212. 39:10none of that shit's relevant anymore and you just want it to make small talk like make a limi it will

224. 40:56trying to get advanced voice on Android so what happens is on Android you download the chat GPT app now what's
225. 41:04really important is you've got to get the chat GPT app from open AI there are about 40 different things that say their
226. 41:13chat GPT that are not those are people that are just using the open AI API to charge you 20 bucks a month to use a free
227. 41:22API don't get any of those you have to get the app from open Ai and then when you launch it in the lower corner you'll see that
228. 41:38icon and if you see yeah it's you you'll see you'll see
229. 41:53that that icon which is like the little Sound Bars and then when you click on that if what you get is this

246. 45:04graphics but because we've switched from Tik Tock which is vertical to streamyard and YouTube which is horizontal a

264. 48:02to make the web faster with smaller image sizes without losing quality avif which stands for av1 image file format
265. 48:11is another modern format that offers high compression with good quality backed by the alliance for open media
266. 48:17these formats are not universally supported especially by older software leading to the compatibility headaches
267. 48:23you're experiencing yeah but isn't this one of those things where the engineers thought this was a good idea for their
268. 48:30stupid [ __ ] bandwidth processing problems and has nothing to do with end users because for us aren't jpegs and pngs just [ __ ]
