16. 2:53There's all sorts of things to check out. There's all sorts of events. You can learn about the Mastermind. You can
17. 2:57learn about the the spaces that we have for business and for life hacks and ethics and just all sorts of stuff.
18. 3:04Politics and advocacy. Um lots and lots of things. Um the AI Salon is really a place for people who are curious about AI to gather. Um
19. 3:19You know, we use I I still think that largely the AI Salon is is a place for people that are optimistic about AI. AI is getting
20. 3:29really complicated and it's there's a lot of nuance to it. And so I don't think you necessarily have to be an AI optimist to be here. Um
21. 3:39I think it helps because it's a lot less depressing, but I don't think you have to be one. Um what the AI Salon is though is is a
22. 3:49collection of people that are thinking very thoughtfully about AI and doing, like actually creating and exploring and
23. 3:58learning about it and learning about what it makes possible and then applying that to their lives and their job and their work
24. 4:05and then sharing what they're learning, openly sharing and, you know, creating education for one another and just
25. 4:11informally showing up to things like this and connecting and talking. Um the uh the chat window for for this live
26. 4:21is somewhere under the AI Learning Lab logo, as I understand it, if you're on desktop, I think. Um so so if you can't
27. 4:28find the chat area, it's somewhere up there. So go do that. And then yeah, just explore everything here. If you haven't introduced yourself
28. 4:37yet to um the AI Salon community, there's up toward the top is a little space called introduce yourself.
29. 4:46And just go in there and just generously tell us who you are and where you are with this stuff. If you're brand new with AI,
30. 4:53introduce yourself anyway. This is not a community full of [ __ ] It's it's not a proprietary kind of community. It's a very generous
31. 5:02community. And if you're just starting out, it's an incredibly welcoming group and if you're, you know, just jump in here.

38. 5:56the pre-show, and she was talking about Kria, and she's been playing with Kria, and I'm like I'm like playing with all these tools.
39. 6:04And I said, "Are are you How are you doing with keeping up with all these tools?" And she was like, "I'm completely overwhelmed, too." So,

59. 9:01and so I started this morning doing what I normally do. When I when I start thinking about what I'm going to talk about in the evening,
60. 9:10I can usually like log on to X or log on to LinkedIn or log on to wherever and I can sort of see something that rises above the noise.
61. 9:21And today, this morning, I couldn't find it. And then around lunchtime, I took some more time and I couldn't find it. And then
62. 9:27in the early afternoon, I took some more time and I couldn't find it. And then at about 4:00, I had an hour to figure out what I'm I'm
63. 9:35to talk about tonight and I couldn't find it. And what struck me at about 4:45, I had to go to an event at 5:00 and then just
64. 9:43come right home and and go online, was that the fact that I can't figure out what to talk about tonight is the thing to talk about tonight.
65. 9:55Last week we talked about um OpenAI and Anthropic both announced these deployment companies, and then
66. 10:05Google quickly followed suit. They also have a deploy- deployment company. So, all three of the the major the frontier labs
67. 10:14are starting services business businesses to figure out how to incorporate AI into companies, and they're going to all
68. 10:25start with the big corporations. That's where all the money is. They're going to start with big corporations.
69. 10:31But that feels significant to me. Then I look at what's happening with with all of the technologies
70. 10:47of these frontier labs. Um a month or so ago, ChatGPT got rid of Sora, their their video model. Um Dario Amodei was asked about, "Hey,
71. 11:01are you guys ever going to do any sort of image generation?" Dario Amodei is like, "I don't really see any value in
72. 11:06it." which made me sick to my stomach, but he didn't really see any value in it. Um because they're looking at this business stuff.
73. 11:17You go back to February or so, and everyone was talking about open claw. Everyone's got to have an open claw
74. 11:22agent, and I have my I still have my little shitty open claw agent Adam, who is who's a horrible horrible son. Uh
75. 11:31not not through any fault of his own. It's because he's got a bad daddy. >> [laughter] >> And I just haven't haven't done it
76. 11:39there. Check my sticky notes under the plane. There were too many to fit in the carry-on. >> [laughter]

78. 12:01No. Okay. So far so good. All right, beautiful. All right. So, I have I have sticky notes at the ready if Brandon needs to
79. 12:10communicate anything to me with a super fancy Southwest Wi-Fi. Um I miss Sora, too. I have Phoenix cling three and seed dancer amazing. Um
80. 12:27So, open claw came out in February and everyone that that was all the rage. And and what's essentially happened
81. 12:34is that all of the major frontier model companies, including now Grok, have these coding agents. So, Open AI has Codex.
82. 12:46Claude has Claude code and Claude co-work. Um Google has I forget what Google's is called. Elon lost to Sam in court. Yeah, but he
83. 12:57didn't really lose to Sam. It was just he the statute of limitations had run out. Which I I was at I was at this party
84. 13:04before and and someone goes, "Wait, if the statute of limitations run out, why did they like go to court and like do
85. 13:11all this [ __ ] if the statute of limitations had run out?" I'm like, "Have you ever met a lawyer? They will They will
86. 13:19They'll take you to court. They're just billing $600 an hour and in those cases they're probably charging $1,500 an hour.
87. 13:28Yeah, Google's Google's what's it called? Harness is called Gemini agent. Um XAI just launched um Grok. Is it Grok code?
88. 13:45I forget what it is, but they launched one. Um And if you if you if you haven't dabbled with Claude code or
89. 14:00OpenAI Codex, there's a there's a really interesting evolution happening with them where all of them started as coding
90. 14:07tools, right? They started as tools to allow programmers to do programming with that that they would interface with their IDEs, their their
91. 14:20What was it? Interactive development environments? Is it interactive? Is that the I? And then I think Anthropic was the first
92. 14:29one to say, "Oh, wait a minute. Like if we've got a thing that can help someone write code and then seamlessly interact with their
93. 14:38development environment, couldn't they just interact with all of the programs? Oh, integrated. Integrated development
94. 14:47environment. Thank you. Um So, they created Claude code work and they're like, "Now you can use things like you can use Claude code work to
95. 14:57organize all your files on your computer or to help you write business documents." All right? So, all of these
96. 15:04tools started as this coding tool and then they basically generalized them. And so, we now have four out of
97. 15:11four of the frontier model companies shifting from being a tool like Chat GPT where you log in to a Google-like prompt
98. 15:24and you put in a prompt and you get out an answer. And if you're really sophisticated, if you're kind of an advanced AI person,
99. 15:32you put in a prompt, you get out an answer, and then you just keep going. Right? You just keep iterating. I don't
100. 15:38like that. Do it better. Do it worse. But these these harnesses, these agentic frameworks that they're all doing is something
101. 15:52different. And I'll I'll give you an example. So, I set a goal for myself this weekend to to put some good time into Adam, my open
102. 16:08claw agent that sucked. He was broken all week. He's very corrupted and I I think I might have to reinstall him. Um but I did that.
103. 16:22I wanted to learn about skills. Anthropic was the first one to develop these things called skills, which are basically just text files
104. 16:31with instructions of how to do something. And it can be anything from here's how to write like me to here's how to do a
105. 16:39Google search to whatever it is. And you can have lots and lots of skills and there are skill directories where you can go find skills
106. 16:48and some skills are built in and they're the defaults. And now, the other companies can use skills and they're all they're all
107. 16:56using some version of them if not explicitly using them. And it's a different kind of thing. It's a much more
108. 17:06Not all skills can be trusted. That's true. Some skills have malware in them, so be careful. Rolling, rolling, rolling. Primary
109. 17:14elections tomorrow. She's taking a second seat to Codex. So if I if I So so so that's part of that that's
110. 17:28that's part of why I can't figure out what to do is just like these things that started as coding assistants and then became like
111. 17:38automated coding agents that could do a lot of stuff that now became co-working agents that are now just kind of full-on
112. 17:51professional open claw instances is a good way to think about it. It's a shift. It's a shift. Um
113. 18:07then we've got this week we've got some things happening. Google IO starts tomorrow. One of the things I know we're going to get is VO4,
114. 18:17the new video model from them. We're likely going to get a new model from them. We're likely going to get updates
115. 18:23on their agentic harness thingy. Um Google has been better recently about announcing stuff that you can actually use.
116. 18:34It used to be they would announce [ __ ] that you would never see again. >> [laughter] >> They've gotten better at that. So I hope
117. 18:40that trend continues. But I think that also means we will likely see Elon wanting to take part of the spotlight, Sam Altman wanting to
118. 18:49take part of the spotlight. So this week is probably going to be a week where there's a lot of things to talk about, a lot of new things.
119. 18:56A lot of new shiny objects. Oh look, there's a new model. What are we GOING TO DO? OH THAT'S A NEW VIDEO. WHY IS IT
120. 19:01SO EXPENSIVE? Why don't I have access to it? Should I spend $200 a month to get access to it? You know, the thing we do.
121. 19:11News from Economy 1. I saved a baby duckling from an eagle today. Beautiful. Economy one, if you don't know,
122. 19:20one night on AI Learning Lab Live, um, uh, Kelly Camp asked me, she she said, "You keep saying things are going to get
123. 19:28weird. How are they going to get weird?" And the seven economies were born. And economy one is the analog economy,
124. 19:35which is screw AI, I'm going to go grow blueberries. I think economy one's going to be quite good. And so, economy one, things like
125. 19:42saving ducklings from an eagle, that's what happens in economy one. So, that's beautiful. I love that. >> [laughter]
126. 19:50>> That's not the way the eagle told that story. Um, so this week's going to be a big week for announcements, but I didn't
127. 19:57want to talk about, I mean, we can talk about rumors about what's coming, but it doesn't really matter cuz in two
128. 20:04days, we'll see what's coming. So, that's that. Then, another thing that's been happening is that I am seeing
129. 20:17I've been waiting [laughter] for that [ __ ] since 2004. Team UBA UBI all the way. I'm I'm going I'm going team UHI. I'm going universal
130. 20:27high income. I'll I'm going to go with with Elon on this. I don't know how they're going to fund it. I don't care.
131. 20:33Don't give me sustenance wages. Give me luxury wages, right? Let's all drive nice cars. I want to like I want a
132. 20:43nice muscle car resto mod. I don't want to be stressed out about, you know, "We can't eat food cuz daddy's got a hot car."
133. 20:52No, I want a hot car and food. So, I'm going universal high income. High to everyone is basic. That's a good point. Um,

136. 21:23I think my mic has been running a little hot. You're good. Okay. The math doesn't math. Okay. Um Well, if the if the economy 10x's, then
137. 21:37the math maths. But if you're right, if everyone has high high income, then that becomes the new base. Um
138. 21:45But one of the other things that has been happening, I don't know if you've been noticing, but it's graduation time, and I've seen
139. 21:52at least Well, no, not at least. I've seen two videos of commencement speeches where the commencement speaker mentioned AI and
140. 22:01got soundly booed by the students. One of them was Eric Schmidt, right? So, if Eric Schmidt is your is doing your
141. 22:09commencement speech, chances are about 99.9% that he's going to talk about AI. And he did. Then he got booed.
142. 22:21I'm also noticing in the past month the decibel level and the vitriol from the anti-AI crowd is intensifying. Like a lot.
143. 22:38And I don't know if you've noticed this, but data center is the new dirty word. You want to You want to start a fight?
144. 22:50Say something about a data center. >> [laughter] >> You can't say the word data center anymore. Um data centers are evil. Data centers
145. 22:59are going to destroy us. Data centers are going to kill us. Data centers are eating all of our fish and
146. 23:05taking all of our land and ruining all of our communities. Um some of the chatter that I've seen on X, so you know, take it for what it's
147. 23:17worth. But it actually kind of makes sense and I've been I've been trying to pay attention to X accounts more
148. 23:23that are really loud and vitriolic. Like Like it went from it went from I hate AI to if you were an AI, then you're a loser.
149. 23:33Like it just it just got it just got hot. And so so one of the things that I'm seeing is that that, you know, the conspiracy theorists on X
150. 23:45think that this is a Chinese psyop. That that this is a misinformation campaign. That and it makes sense. I don't know if it
151. 23:55is or not. I don't have any evidence for that, but like everything's plausible these days. Um if China wanted to take a lead over
152. 24:04the next 5 years, one of the things that they could do is they they could get Americans to hate data centers and hate electric facilities.
153. 24:15Right? Electricity bad. Data center bad. Right? We we have experience that we can take our country and turn it into a
154. 24:24bunch of people that are just like, you bad, you good, you bad, you good. So data center's the new whatever it was 2 weeks ago.
155. 24:34Data center bad. AI people bad. So that's going on, too. Now, that could be organic.
156. 24:50But if but if the uptick in anti-AI sentiment is is organic, let's assume it's not a Chinese misinformation
157. 24:56campaign or amplification campaign. Let's say it is an organic resistance. Why is that happening now? Well,
158. 25:08it's become pretty clear if you pay attention to what the AI CEOs of the frontier labs have been talking about
159. 25:15for the past 3 months, they all have something They all have something in their labs that has made them talk differently.
160. 25:26They're not talking about AGI as maybe someday we will achieve AGI. They stopped that. And they're starting to talk about
161. 25:35artificial superintelligence and they're starting to say, well, AGI is a lot closer than anyone realizes.
162. 25:41And it's been a pretty consistent thing from all of them. From Microsoft just said within 18 months all knowledge work is essentially
163. 25:50going to be done by AI. The CTO of Microsoft AI said that or the the CEO of Microsoft AI, Suleyman. Um Dario Amodei's been talking about
164. 26:02this. Um Demis Hassabis has been talking about this. Uh Sam Altman's been talking about this. Elon Musk has been talking about this.
165. 26:11So clearly something we don't know what is here that's going to be different. The other thing that those tone-deaf
166. 26:28idiots are doing is saying things like, "AI is going to take your jobs." They're not talking about the opportunity side of it. What might
167. 26:41people do instead of that job they're losing? How might corporations keep people and move them into different roles where
168. 26:48they can use AI to do more [ __ ] for the company. Like there's all sorts of things they could be talking about. They
169. 26:54could be doing thought leadership on. But they're just like, well, I guess AGI's here. I guess you're going to have to deal with it.
170. 27:02And so maybe we're at the point now where people are actually starting to believe it. That oh [ __ ] this isn't
171. 27:08going away. Oh [ __ ] this is a big deal. Oh [ __ ] I don't want to lose my job. I don't want to lose my ability to feed my family.
172. 27:16Very real concerns, right? So maybe some of the AI anti-AI sentiment is just an instinctive fear that shit's about to go down.
173. 27:26And all I want to do is stop it. So what do you talk about? Producer Brandon, I gave an hour-long presentation to my school's AI committee
174. 27:41today. It was It was students and faculty. They were highly engaged and impressed when I shared how Gemini turned my 30 minutes
175. 27:49of research into a presentation in 3 minutes. Yeah, that's I I mean, listen, this is this is something that we've known and we've we've
176. 27:58kind of celebrated within the AI Salon since the beginning. Is that when you experience AI, when you experience what it could do for
177. 28:10you, like experience it, rather than just hear about it, it's a very different relationship. It It all of a sudden doesn't seem as scary.
178. 28:24It's like, oh, wait, I could do that? I didn't think I could do that. I thought it was just those numbnuts in San Francisco
179. 28:31that had I thought you had to be Didn't you have to be a You have to be a genius to use AI, right? Like people really don't know.
180. 28:40What they know is data centers are going to kill us. AI is bad. It's going to take all the jobs. Like all the [ __ ] the media says
181. 28:50is is the only thing in their head. Okay, got it Brenda. Thanks. >> [laughter] >> Andy, Jesus let it kill me.
182. 29:08>> [laughter] >> We'll be the Dukes of Hazzard AI prohibition. Yeah, exactly during AI prohibition. Modern day Luddites is all.
183. 29:18Well, yeah, I mean it it is. It's it's it's it's it's fear. It's it's existential fear is going to make people
184. 29:27do weird [ __ ] And if on top of that some other foreign actor is amplifying the anti-sentiment to try
185. 29:36to slow things down here in the states, well, so that's going on. But what does this all mean? Well, here's what it looks like to me.
186. 29:50We're we're in the middle of a phase change. We're in the middle of a phase change from AI as a as a a series of discrete tools
187. 30:05where we are required to be in the conversation if we want those tools to do anything good, we still have to be there.
188. 30:19Even as good as Opus 4.6 was for coding and it got coders to say, "Oh, I don't need to code anymore." Coders still need to be there
189. 30:29coding and and checking and babysitting and like we still need to be there. But four out of four of the frontier
190. 30:39model companies, including xAI in there have now put out out these platforms for autonomous agents where you just give it a goal
191. 30:51you just say I want a thing and it will either go build it or find it or bring it to you. And so what that starts to look like is
192. 31:02AI is shifting from discrete tools where we have to have our hands all over them to this more sort of infrastructure-y,
193. 31:10automated, platform-y sophisticated, nuanced thing that will just go do work for you without you having to be there.
194. 31:35Infrastructure is boring. But infrastructure is critical. If you don't have the underlying infrastructure
195. 31:50all of the cool stuff that these agentic platforms promise won't work. If they're not tied into the systems, right?
196. 32:02OpenAI 3 days ago said you can now connect all of your banking information and do personal finance stuff on ChatGPT. Now
197. 32:13those of us have been on the planet for a while might be like, oh my god, why would I put my credit card on the internet? >> [laughter]
198. 32:20>> Why would I let Sam Altman see all of my personal finance information? Cuz frankly, Sam Altman doesn't give a [ __ ] >> [laughter]
199. 32:28>> He He wants all the data to be able to, you know monopolize. He wants He wants you to be locked in. He didn't give a [ __ ] about your
200. 32:40finances. I mean, some people are looking at this like we're we're in a post-privacy world, so I might as well. It's just
201. 32:46going to make things better. If I'm shitty with my personal finances, maybe I'll get better at it. Um
202. 32:56So, let me just take a break right now. So, that's that's why I don't have anything to talk about tonight is that
203. 33:02there's so much going on that that are all interrelated and are all kind of meaty that that there's no single thing that's
204. 33:12standing out to me right now. In the AI Salon, there's there's lots of ways to participate, right? One is you can just lurk.
205. 33:26You can just watch what other people are posting. You can come to these things. You don't have to comment. You don't have to do anything.
206. 33:37You can participate by going to events. You can participate by joining some of the the spaces that that do specialized
207. 33:44things like business or ethics or life hacks. You can help other people. One of the things you can do in the AI Salon
208. 33:58is this thing we created called the AI Salon Mastermind, and it's a subscription area, so it's for people
209. 34:04who want to That's cool. Brandon did that from 30,000 ft. He just put that graphic up there. This is so cool. >> [laughter] >> Um
210. 34:16The AI Salon Mastermind is full of people that are ready to to to take it to the next level, really dig in, really think thoughtfully about
211. 34:27what's going on with AI. The AI Salon Mastermind Practice Lab um is is a chance for you to be more intentional about how you use AI.
212. 34:40The Great Repurpose, we've got a lot of different workshops in there from Brandon's doing one right now on lovable
213. 34:46and and vibe coding and, you know, getting yourself up to speed on that. Andy's doing a a thing right now about
214. 34:52decoupling your identity from your job. Last week was was was about the goop phase. So, I don't know if you know
215. 34:59uh a caterpillar, when they go into their little chrysalis there, their cocoon, they don't just turn into a butterfly.
216. 35:07They actually have these enzymes that dissolve most of their body parts. And this sort of neural core remains, these little discs remain
217. 35:18that become the the beginnings of all the other parts of the butterfly, but they go through this it's a literal goop
218. 35:23phase. They turn into goop. What they were ceases to exist. And then they're in the goop phase, there's
219. 35:31nothing pleasant about the goop phase. It's goopy. So, so if you want to dig deeper, this is not the Aslan Mastermind
220. 35:45is not about learning tools. It's about really digging deeper and thinking about what does it mean to use these tools?
221. 35:52And what does it mean to use them thoughtfully? And what does it mean if all of a sudden I can do things that I
222. 35:58could never do before, but also these same tools completely devalued the thing that I spent 30 years making valuable.
223. 36:08How do you deal with that? That's what we're exploring in the Mastermind, right? The Mastermind's about going a level deeper beneath the
224. 36:16tools. All right. So, let's get back to this everything everywhere all at once concept of what's happening with AI
225. 36:30right now. All this stuff is going on. AI is we're we're in a a phase change. We're We're in the goop phase. We're in the goop phase of AI.
226. 36:43It's It's transforming into infrastructure. AI is going to disappear like the internet disappeared, right? In '94,
227. 36:53'95, '96, people talked about the internet like this thing. I got to have a website. Can you install the internet on my computer? People
228. 37:02didn't understand what the internet was. Can you install the internet on my computer? No, your hard drive's not big enough.
229. 37:11It was a thing. It was like this thing, like a tool. And then over time it transitioned into Oh, no, no, it it's fabric. It's the fabric
230. 37:22through which we're going to do the world. We're going to talk and do business and right? It became the fabric.
231. 37:31We're in the goop phase with AI. Ha. Goop, Kelly Camp, goop. So, that's what I've been experiencing the past 2 years. That That's it.
232. 37:42That's it. Valerie Cox, what stands out is that it feels like we can't grasp what's already been released because the
233. 37:51next thing is coming out. It feels like we can't catch up. And that's You can't We can't I can't No one can. And that's the thing as
234. 38:03If you look at the connectors within Claude, Code, and Co-work, and within Codex, and I assume Gemini has the same thing.
235. 38:14If you've ever played around with um with Zapier or Make, the the the automation tools, and they're connected to all these thousands and
236. 38:24thousands of different services. That's what's starting to happen inside, you know, Chat GPT and inside Codex is that
237. 38:36it's no longer just a chatbot, right? It's connected to everything. And increasingly, we won't have to think about all those
238. 38:47manual connections. We'll have to give permissions. Yes, you have my permission to see my bank account. Yes, you have my
239. 38:53permission to send someone an email. We'll have to give it permissions, but but we're not going to have to think about that. But,
240. 39:01what it means is there's no AI to learn. Like like we're moving into a phase where like saying something like, "How
241. 39:12do I learn AI?" would be the equivalent of saying like, "How do I learn the internet?" What do you mean, how would you learn
242. 39:18the internet? The internet is everything. It's everywhere. You you learn specific things to do that sit on the internet.
243. 39:27That's going to be AI. So so we're in this goop phase. >> [sighs] >> Is it possible that butterflies, AI, and
244. 39:37Sora 2 were canaries in this mine? Yeah. Yeah, so Sora 2 is a Sora 2 is a really good example. So when Sora first came out,
245. 39:48OpenAI made all these promises. This is a This is a a world model as much as it is an image generator, and
246. 39:56this thing understands the relationship of objects in a scene, and there was all these promises. And then
247. 40:03when And then they just never really launched it. And then when Sora 2 came out, they launched this sort of TikTok-like
248. 40:11AI, you know, social platform. And then they got paid a billion dollars by Disney to train
249. 40:26Sora on all the Disney properties. And then 3 months later, 4 months later, they canceled Sora. Unceremoniously canceled it.
250. 40:44That's bizarre to me. Like I assume they called someone at Disney and said, "Hey, we're going to refund you your billion dollars.
251. 40:54We're We're not going to do that thing." Disney was probably like, "Can we do the thing?" They're like, "No, we're just
252. 41:00going to shut it down." Why did they do that? Because they saw what was happening with Open Claw. They saw They saw the
253. 41:10direction of of where Anthropic was going. They saw the direction of where Google and Gemini were going. And they're going to becoming
254. 41:21infrastructure. So, little gimmicky things even though they might be really valuable in certain sectors, they're not infrastructure.
255. 41:36Yeah, maybe Disney acquired some of those people. I actually think Disney just cut a deal. Didn't Disney just cut a deal with someone else?
256. 41:43Netflix or someone like that. I think Disney just cut cut sort of deal um to do AI training. What did I just do there?
257. 41:57I don't know what I did, producer Brandon. I threw a box somewhere. Didn't mean to. Um [snorts] >> [clears throat]
258. 42:06>> As powerful as Altman thinks he is, um I wouldn't mess with Bob Iger. I agree. Like I Listen, we can only assume
259. 42:14that Altman figured out how to gracefully duck out of the billion-dollar Disney deal. If he did, I like I don't know. I don't
260. 42:21have There was no buzz about that. It was It was It seemed to be a very hastily made decision. But what this comes down to is that Sora
261. 42:34was eating lots and lots of GPU cycles. Right? And we saw what happened with Anthropic when you don't have enough GPU cycles. Anthropic
262. 42:48started throttling and rate limiting people, and they started getting a bad name, and people were going back to Open AI.
263. 42:55So Open AI was basically saying, "Our lights are always on. If you want to run If you want to run your $20 subscription
264. 43:01to run your Open Claude instance, you can do it." Anthropic said, "You can't do that anymore." Anthropic started rate
265. 43:07limiting. People started going back to Open AI. Then Anthropic cuts a deal with SpaceX to gain access to their Colossus supercomputer cuz
266. 43:19X moved on to Colossus 2, their bigger data center. So they gave Colossus 1 to Anthropic so they had more chips to meet the demand
267. 43:30of this more infrastructure level use of their tools. What does that mean for us?
268. 43:45Individuals running businesses, trying to figure this out as as human beings, as business owners. It means that it's the
269. 44:03you don't have to worry about learning this tool or that tool. I mean, you have to. But like, you don't need to worry about mastering them.
270. 44:19They're all going to be be available via these agentic platforms. At some point, you're just going to go
271. 44:27ask for [ __ ] and you'll get it. And I'll tell you um a uh an experience I had this weekend. But that is what makes us valuable
272. 44:36because we know under the hood. It's what makes us valuable right now, Chef Kelly, I would argue. See See, this
273. 44:44is the thing. This is part of the part of the goop phase. Part of what makes the goop phase And thank you for Andy Scarintino for
274. 44:54introducing me to the goop phase. Part of what makes it uncomfortable is that the stuff that was valuable before
275. 45:08is kind of gone. Right? Like the little legs on the caterpillar that crawled on the the sticks and the grass and the little
276. 45:18things that ate the whatever the [ __ ] caterpillars eat. These things. Those are all gone. Those were super valuable
277. 45:30in the caterpillar phase. Right? Those are gone. We don't know what's going to be there. We don't know it's going to be this
278. 45:37curly nosed weird ass tongue thing. We just know that these are gone. Where they're or they're dissolving, right?
279. 45:48I think the phase that we're exiting is the phase where like all of us early adopters, all of us AI saloners that have been here for a while
280. 46:01that can take pride in saying, I know how to prompt, I know how to multi-prompt, I know how to give it context, I know how to add skills to
281. 46:09my thing, I know how to I know which one has which personality. Like that's all super valuable in a world where
282. 46:20AI sucks enough that human beings need to be involved. But if we're moving to a world where AI is just infrastructure
283. 46:33and we're assuming that AI's going to get good enough that we don't actually have to be involved, we can choose to be
284. 46:40involved, we don't have to be involved, all of that knowledge may not be valuable over here. That's kind of gross, like goop,
285. 46:54right? But web knowledge is still valuable. Well, listen, I would argue that none of none of what we've learned in what we're
286. 47:04currently doing it becomes valueless, like our ability to to do things better in this new whatever's coming,
287. 47:14we'll be able to do it better because we knew how it used to be done before, but but it won't be required to do good work. Right?
288. 47:22We might be trusted more because we've got that experience. We have to really start repurposing our purpose. So so this is what I'm getting
289. 47:31to. >> [snorts] >> Let me let me share you share share something I did this weekend. So I I I set a goal for myself. I wanted to
290. 47:41learn about skills. I wanted to watch a Codex video or two. I actually fell asleep. When was it? Saturday night? Just
291. 47:52like I turned on a Riley Brown video about Codex and I'm like, I don't really like his voice. He's a
292. 47:58nice guy and all, but his voice bugs me. So, I'm like, I'll just close my eyes and I'll listen to him and I'll learn. And I just fell out.
293. 48:07But, I learned about Codex. And one of the things that OpenAI launched a week ago was that in the ChatGPT app
294. 48:34there's now a little Codex tab. And And what you can do with this is you can connect this app to Codex running on your
295. 48:50desktop computer that you flip the switch to say never go to sleep and just keep running the Codex app and then you can
296. 49:00run Codex from your phone. And so, all of the things that it can do on your local computer and all of the
297. 49:06things it can do with all these skills and all of this autonomous agent [ __ ] you can manage from here, which is that's what OpenClaw was.
298. 49:15Right? OpenClaw was you go to Telegram and you talk to Adam. This is Adam, my OpenClaw dude on Telegram. And this
299. 49:28is my interface to Codex running on the same MacBook as Adam is. And so, before I went to the grocery store on Sunday, this was on Sunday I
300. 49:40did this. I connected my HeyGen account. So, HeyGen does video avatars and [ __ ] like that. Like, I connected it.
301. 49:55I signed in. You know, authorized the app. Yes, you can use up all my credits and you can [laughter] erase my hard drive. I gave
302. 50:05it all the permissions. Oh, wait. Chef Kelly, I don't know. I might disagree. Well, this is good. Wait. Hang on. We'll come back to the
303. 50:12Wait. This is good. Chef Kelly, I don't know. I might disagree. AI on the consumer level is very stupid.
304. 50:17Totally agree. People don't know the nuances of when it drifts or what running locally means. They can get themselves in a lot of trouble.
305. 50:24Totally agree. I think that our knowledge will be valuable for quite some time. Well, okay. So, there So, there's a couple of things. Yes.
306. 50:35I don't disagree with that. But I the definition of quite some time is if Okay, so
307. 50:55One of the reasons that European cell service is so much better than American cell service phones is that
308. 51:08America had infrastructure that they had to evolve into cell service. So, they had the existing um the existing infrastructure. Then they
309. 51:19had all these competing companies, the American way. We're going to compete for it with all these competing bandwidth frequencies. Right?
310. 51:31Incompatible protocols that were all battling one another. And while they were all fighting for our dollars, Europe watched that
311. 51:42and said, "Oh, I know what we could do. We, as a collection of countries, kind of like a collection of states, could agree
312. 51:52on a single protocol, so no matter what country you're in over here, your cell phone will work. So, there was an advantage to not
313. 52:06going first. That's probably going to happen here, where yes, having those skills is going to be valuable. There's a tremendous amount of
314. 52:17people that know nothing about AI. But, some of them are going to be dropped into AI when it's good. When it doesn't really require human
315. 52:28humans to be good, and it's going to be agentic. And there's going to be some sort of front end on that that makes it really easy to use.
316. 52:36There's going to be a lot of transition from here to there. Um, I don't know how quick that is, Chef Kelly. Like, that could be
317. 52:47that could be 3 years, it could be a year, it could be 5 years. So, yeah, I agree. Short-term, there's
318. 52:54going to be value for people that know stuff here. Um, I just think we're we're in the goop phase right now of an AI that is
319. 53:06much less a thing and much more just the fabric. Um, so let so let me keep telling you my story. So, so I go to I go to the grocery store, I
320. 53:21set up a gen, and I've now got Codex connected. It took me it it's it's ridiculous. It's early technology. It basically said I would go
321. 53:31to Codex, and then it would say, um, "Follow the instructions on your desktop." And my desktop had nothing on
322. 53:38it. And so, I restarted and reinstalled and re just I it took me half an hour to just get these two things to talk, but once it connected
323. 53:51I was now initiating stuff from here. So, I was in the grocery store and I knew I had just turned on Hey Gen.
324. 54:01And so, I just said to it, I turned on speech to text and I said "Hey, use Hey Gen to make a a 9 by 16 video of a guy
325. 54:17that's a pharma sales rep talking about how awesome it is to use Storyvine to do personalized video outreach and have him talk about um how
326. 54:32it his click-through rate on his emails went from 3% to 18%." Submit. And then Codex, back on this machine,
327. 54:45started doing [ __ ] And it was like sending me little updates. It's like you know, I'm logging into Hey Gen now. I'm
328. 54:52picking a template now. I'm picking a character like a like a persona person now. I'm picking a voice now. I've I'm writing a script now.
329. 55:06I'm making a video now. And I was like, oh, okay, cool. And then it said Hey Gen and it said it was thinking. And then at some point after
330. 55:18I looked at rutabagas I looked at my phone and it said, "Here's the link to your video." And I watched the video.
331. 55:29I'm draining your bank account now. Exactly. And I was like, "Oh, [ __ ] That was kind of cool." I didn't have to learn the HeyGen
332. 55:38interface. I didn't have to learn how to prompt HeyGen. I just had to say to this thing, "Go do that thing."
333. 55:48And the first video that it did, it chose a really shitty announcer voice, and it was a really shitty, it was like
334. 55:53a It was like a guy a guy standing in a city saying, "Storyvine's fantastic." And I'm like, "No, I don't want him to
335. 56:00sound like an announcer. He should not be holding a microphone. It should be like a guy in his office. He should have
336. 56:06a much more relaxed voice." I should I should have a thing at the top that says Storyvine's awesome, some
337. 56:13version of that, and there should be like a space where I can put subtitles. Then, on the third iteration,
338. 56:26while I'm in the grocery store, talking to my phone, it made this.
339. 56:55Honestly, I was a little skeptical at first. I send a lot of personalized emails to HCPs, and most of them used to get
340. 57:03clicked at around 3%. When I started including personalized Storyvine videos, that moved to 18%. That is the kind of change you actually
341. 57:14notice. I think the reason is pretty simple. It feels like me reaching out, not just another templated email.
342. 57:23The video gives the message a face, a little context, and a reason to click. For my territory, Storyvine has made
343. 57:31personalized follow-up feel more human and a lot more effective. >> [sighs] >> Right? Like, okay, wow, cool.
344. 57:45Here's the thing about HeyGen. For like a year and a half, I would Remember when I was talking about HeyGen a lot? I would go to HeyGen
345. 57:56whenever they'd make a new announcement, I'd go there, I'd learn about whatever their capabilities were, I'd go make a
346. 58:01video, I'd do it on the on the lives. I've been ignoring HeyGen. I haven't paid attention to what the [ __ ] they're doing at all. I don't I
347. 58:12don't know where to find like if if I went to HeyGen right now, >> [clears throat] >> for me to create that video, just
348. 58:18finding the piece parts in the HeyGen interface of where you would find that video stuff would probably take me an hour.
349. 58:30Now, was that dude the perfect dude? Was it the perfect voice? Was it the perfect script? No. But like this was a mindless I connected
350. 58:40HeyGen and I said go make me a video and it did and then I said make these changes and it did. And it got to the
351. 58:45point that like that's something I'd put out there to experiment with. We're definitely in the command line
352. 58:54phase of AI. Look how many platforms are using the console to set it up. GUI for AI is coming. Yeah, and to be to be
353. 59:00clear, when I'm using Codex, I'm not using the terminal. I'm using their GUI. I'm using like their chat GPT-like interface of Codex,
354. 59:11and now I'm using literal chat GPT. I'm just in the Codex tab. So it looks like chat GPT, but those files that video file that I showed you
355. 59:22right there, the way Codex works is it generates that file, it downloads it from HeyGen, and it puts it on my hard drive.
356. 59:31So, on my hard drive right now are are eight different versions of that video. Some with subtitles, some without. Right? Some raw.
357. 59:45So, I no longer need to use I need I no longer need to have the skills that I had to have 2 years ago to use HeyGen.
358. 59:55That's what I mean we're in the goop phase. Like, is it is it perfect yet? No. Is it still really janky to set up? It's really janky.
359. 1:00:04But, software is primarily going to be used by the agents executing our ideas. I remember using HeyGen back in the day.
360. 1:00:18But, it was new then. It's all growed up now, right? All growed up software is complicated and sophisticated, not easy to learn.
361. 1:00:30I didn't have to go back to HeyGen and learn how to use HeyGen. I just had to connect it and talk to it and let ChatGPT 5.5 figure it out.

371. 1:02:35Andy, I've discovered with your help, Kyle, that I'm not an early adopter because I do not do not have the
372. 1:02:40patience for janky. Work the kinks out, give me utility and I'll use it. No utility equals waste of my time. This is So So, [clears throat]
373. 1:02:49what Andy's talking about here, there's a book if you haven't read it that is probably worth at least listening to
374. 1:02:57You don't even need to read it anymore. You can just go to chat GPT and say, "Summarize this thing for me."
375. 1:03:02Joy Pretty says, what does she say? Hi. Hello, Joy Pretty. Um there's a book called Crossing the Chasm.
376. 1:03:15And this this is this is what it talks about. Um My my phrase of embrace the jank, like that came from the '90s. We That was
377. 1:03:27That was a term we used back in the '90s when we were talking about websites, and early websites were just horrible. Like HTML sucked.
378. 1:03:37And what you could do on websites sucked. And but we loved it. Like we're we're like there building this [ __ ] from the early
379. 1:03:45days. It's like, "Isn't this exciting?" People like Andy, like people who are just like, "Hey, I just want the thing
380. 1:03:53to work, right?" When you say, "Oh, this AI thing, it might hallucinate." What's that mean? Well, it probably means that
381. 1:04:02sometimes it sort of could give you something that maybe is truthful or not. Well, when does it do that? Whenever it decides to.
382. 1:04:12Sometimes it's really good and then just in the middle of that it will be not good. Well, how do you know? Well, you
383. 1:04:18got to kind of check it. No one wants to hear that. No one that that isn't embracing the jank, isn't embracing that early stuff,
384. 1:04:29they're just waiting for it to get good enough. So, it is my sense that the vitriol and resistance we're hearing
385. 1:04:43if it's not from a third-party actor amplifying it, if it's organic, it's probably got to do with some instinctive sense
386. 1:04:56that this stuff's about to get good enough that we can just use it. That Andy can just say, "I want this for
387. 1:05:05the AI salon. Please go make it." Goes off and Ta, ta, ta, comes back, done. She looks at it. She's like, "Uh, mostly there.
388. 1:05:15Fix this." But, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, brings it back. "How's this?" "Good."
389. 1:05:22"Should I publish it?" "Yes." >> [snorts] >> Right? That's what real people want. They don't want to be prompt engineers. They don't
390. 1:05:30want to learn the personality of this thing versus that thing versus that thing. They just want it to work.
391. 1:05:36That's the chasm. The chasm is us early adopters make the mistake of thinking that all the people, the majority of the people,
392. 1:05:45are going to be as excited about this [ __ ] as we are. And so, we start businesses, Kelly Camp, right? Early, and we're saying, "They're
393. 1:05:52going to They're going to be really excited. They're going to be really excited." Those people are sitting over here going, "Wait, what?
394. 1:05:58I have to do what? Nah. I'm good. Right? And then, at some point, now they're like, "Okay, this thing seems like it's
395. 1:06:07getting real. It looks like it's starting to turn into infrastructure. So, maybe this is going to be like the
396. 1:06:13internet. Maybe now I'm willing to learn it cuz I'm just on the other side of the chasm." Right now, it's more work to make them
397. 1:06:21work. Wait, it's [laughter] It's more work to make them not janky than to do my work myself. Right, exactly. And that's That's one of the
398. 1:06:30things David Shapiro is the first one that I think I heard this from. That the thing about AI is like, there's
399. 1:06:36no progress, no progress, no progress, no progress, all of a sudden, it's good. Like, we're 3 and 1/2 years into,
400. 1:06:44you know, if if you mark ChatGPT as the beginning of the generative AI era, we're 3 and 1/2 years into, it's it's
401. 1:06:52getting better, it's getting better, and it's like, we're starting to see it go like this. But, it's like, it's going
402. 1:06:57like this for people who have been playing this whole time. But, for people on the other side of the chasm, this little lift,
403. 1:07:07they're looking back at this they're like you call me when it's here. Right? And we're we're like excited that it's here.
404. 1:07:15Everyone else is waiting for it to be this good. And so that gap if if indeed this AI stuff is going to
405. 1:07:25be on an exponential, that gap's going to close really quickly. And so if we're on the verge of that gap
406. 1:07:32closing quickly, that could explain why people are resisting it. It's scary. I don't want it. [ __ ] it. Get it away from me.

408. 1:07:53Yeah, I think I think what we're going to get this week is we're going to get we're going to get the new VO model from
409. 1:07:59Google that it looks like it's going to be able to do just as as crazy as chat GPT's image two model is that can do like full on
410. 1:08:10infographics without a typo. I think we're going to have the video version of that from Google tomorrow.
411. 1:08:16Plus we're probably going to have a new model. Plus we're probably going to have chat GPT 5.6. Which if you remember, chat GPT 5.5 came
412. 1:08:24out two months ago. So we're now we're now getting model releases instead of being six months, they're now two months.
413. 1:08:31Then it's going to drop to a month and then it's going to start to drop to weekly. So So this is starting to happen.
414. 1:08:37Just remember like the book said, those people spend money. Yeah, the Oh, look at the hair. Good lord. I should spend
415. 1:08:44some money on a haircut. Um we're we're we're excited about this little increase in you know, yeah. People are waiting for chat for for AI
416. 1:08:55to be up here. The minute they can start to taste it, these people will spend money. And this gets back to your point, Chef Kelly.
417. 1:09:04This is about trust. Someone who comes in when the stuff's already automated and doesn't understand what's there, they're going to go, "I
418. 1:09:13just know how to I don't know what it does. I just know how to do it." There's going to be people like a lot of
419. 1:09:19the people in the salon that are like, "Oh, I know how it does what it does, and if we need to troubleshoot
420. 1:09:23something, I know how to dig under the hood." That is going to be valuable. That trust is going to be valuable.
421. 1:09:30But not necessarily that you need to know the details of how to do it, but just that you you can is going to be valuable.
422. 1:09:41I have two friends in completely different areas, site reliability engineer and design technologists, both
423. 1:09:47leaving Amazon this week and going to Google in a couple of weeks. This is the great tech reshuffle. Yeah. Quinn 3.7 just dropped. There you
424. 1:09:56go. Look at that. So, Quinn 3.6 is what I have running on the on the MacBook, and it's really good. And that came out
425. 1:10:0690 days ago? So, Quinn 3.7 just dropped. There you go. And Andy, I will spend my I will spend any amount of money for

441. 1:13:07it in that machine and they'd go thump thump. And they'd make like a triplicate receipt. And then they'd have the book and they'd
442. 1:13:17look at your card number and then they'd flip through the book to see if your credit card was a stolen credit card.
443. 1:13:27And the first time you like put your numbers in a website, you're like, "Oh god. Oh god, no. They're going to take all my money. No."
444. 1:13:39And now it's just like, yeah, like it's secure and banks know that they're going to get frauded and it doesn't [ __ ] matter.
445. 1:13:46That's where in the goop right now. We're in the goop where we understand that you can't just tell an agent to go do [ __ ] for you. Cuz

483. 1:19:53but but we should just assume that the stuff that's happening right now, where AI is turning into infrastructure, is a completely
484. 1:20:00different beast. It's a completely different animal. The goop is that uncomfortable feeling of like, "But wait a minute, I used to
485. 1:20:08have these cool chewy jaw things." Yeah, those don't matter anymore, because those jaw things are not actually valuable in this new world.

508. 1:23:34their goals are. We design the Columbia House website. Where they want to have people be able to click the button and say,
509. 1:23:46"Give me 20 albums for a penny." So they've got to be able to preview the albums and listen to them and and
510. 1:23:53check them and put them in a little cart. Right? I don't think shopping Shopping carts weren't called shopping carts
511. 1:24:00right then, but they had to sort of check the list of the of the albums they wanted. So we built this whole website that
512. 1:24:07could do all this stuff. And then we're like, "Well, we need We need access to the database." And the
513. 1:24:15IT group was like, "We can't have access to the database. You're just a bunch of schmucks two buildings over and we're Columbia House.
514. 1:24:23We're like, yeah, but you you hired us to make a website where people could click on the thing and then
515. 1:24:30and the thing would go in your database. And so, we need access to your database. And So, at some point and this went on for like 2 months.
516. 1:24:38We're like 2 months late >> [snorts] >> delivering this website. And so, they called this meeting and there was like
517. 1:24:4520 people. It's a big round table. We're in the Columbia House offices. There's like four guys from IT, like the
518. 1:24:53head of IT, just big crusty [ __ ] There's like all of our clients. There's all of us. There's like five or 10 of
519. 1:25:00us. I don't know. Five or 10 It was just big. And so, the IT group's like, And we're like, And then AT ONE POINT >> [laughter]
520. 1:25:12>> THE CTO slams his fist on the table and he goes, "Do you mean to tell me if you don't have access to our database, you can't
521. 1:25:21build a website?" And I said, "That's exactly what I'm telling you." And he said, "Then we're done here."
522. 1:25:27They walked out of the room. We walked out of the room. Got fired. >> [laughter] >> But we were right. And they're out of business now.

524. 1:25:49effects. And then I said, "Okay, use that information to update my Jasper AI." It coded the tool by itself to do special effects. Again,
525. 1:26:00we're in the goop phase right now. The goop phase tells me if I want to do special effects, oh, I just have to know that
526. 1:26:08I'm going to go to midjourney if I want this kind of effect and Korea if I want that one and we're not going to have to remember that
527. 1:26:16[ __ ] We're just going to be like, I want Go make me special effects. Go make me a synthesizer that makes this kind of sound. Come on.
528. 1:26:29That's a pro tip. Ask Ask about the tech that probably costs money and ask how they do it and then say go do the same
