38:42 critical thinking, the

38:55 the mechanism for how you create it is

39:02 thing that I think threatens a lot of
39:04 people, and this it it threatens
39:06 musicians, it threatens artists. It
39:07 threatens programmers. It threatens
39:09 consultants at at at big Fortune 500
39:12 firms.
39:15 We are we are exiting a world. We're
39:18 exiting a world. Um Malcolm Gladwell
39:21 made made uh the the 10,000 hours
39:25 famous, right? that that if you want to
39:27 be competent at something, if you want
39:29 to be good at something, you have to put
39:30 in 10,000 hours, which roughly
39:32 translates into three years, right? You
39:34 have to put in three years to get some
39:36 level of mastery at a thing. We're
39:40 exiting that world where the
39:43 democratization of execution
39:47 of the execution of tasks
39:51 is upon us. And what it means is I don't
39:54 need to put in three years to learn
39:56 Python or Swift if I want to make an iOS
39:59 app or you know um you know some
40:03 programming IDE. Yeah. Now it's more
40:06 like 10,000 minutes which is the title
40:07 of producer Brandon's book which by the
40:09 way you can buy on Amazon right now.
40:11 10,000 minutes go at a bookstore near
40:14 you as long as it's digital.
40:17 not that it just seems that people I've
40:19 met in the field typically aren't good
40:21 at meeting the consumer needs that I
40:25 don't disagree with. But but don't but
40:27 but there's a couple of things to
40:29 separate right here.
40:32 We're the phase we're in the phase we're
40:34 in with AI. You can't look at it and
40:38 compare it to
40:40 where we were with the internet. For
40:42 example, if you if you look at the
40:43 sophistication of the web and all of the
40:46 tools for for creating things on the web
40:48 and creating applications and databases
40:51 and websites and things like that, that
40:54 took 30 years to evolve to where we are
40:56 today. The generative AI um era started
41:01 on November 30th, 2022. So, we're three
41:05 years in. We're we're literally three
41:07 years into this new era. And the
41:10 frontier model companies right now are
41:12 inventing the core technology.
41:16 I if you come back to this channel and I

41:28 the frontier model companies not having
41:31 hired liberal arts majors or a cranky

41:45 their priority right now. their priority
41:46 priority right now is algorithms and

41:55 over the next three to five years the
41:58 technology will keep evolving. We we'll
42:01 right now we're in this in this um
42:04 Cambrian soup, this evolutional
42:07 soup where the core technologies are
42:09 being born and out of it are like
42:11 bubbling up interesting little things
42:13 like Sunno here and chat GPT there and
42:16 notebook LM there. There's little blips
42:18 and blops of genius
42:22 in in just a sea of madness. And over
42:26 the next 5 years, leaders will emerge.
42:30 And then once leaders emerge,
42:33 all of the creative technologists will
42:35 swarm around it and take all those
42:38 technologies and create more and more
42:39 and more sophisticated things. So don't
42:42 mistake that we're early for it. We're
42:45 we're in dire straits. This channel is

45:12 have deep music theory and I don't have

45:18 in terms of production chops. Well, now
45:21 I can take a relatively shitty song idea
45:24 and create a banger production of it.
45:28 So, it it it allows what what AI is
45:31 doing in every profession, right? music
45:34 included, images, film,
45:38 consulting, every profession is it's
45:40 allowing the people that are treating AI
45:45 like a personal amplifier. Like talk
45:47 about rock and roll, right?
45:51 So Rick Rick Rubin talks about this a
45:53 lot. Rick Rubin talks about he if you
45:56 don't know him, he's a music producer
45:58 that doesn't know how to write songs,
45:59 doesn't know how to play instruments,
46:00 doesn't know how to work the recording
46:01 console. He he launched the Beasty Boys.
46:04 He's he's like he's Grammy
46:06 award-winning. He was he was a big
46:09 producer in the punk movement. And he
46:12 talks about AI in comparison to punk
46:14 music. And so when punk music came
46:16 along,
46:18 if you were a musician, it kind of meant
46:20 like you spent, you know, 10 years and
46:23 you're in the Boston philarmonic
46:26 playing third chair violin, hoping that
46:28 in 20 years you'll make it to first
46:30 chair,
46:31 right? And you have to have deep deep
46:34 musical knowledge. And that's that's
46:36 what being a musician is. And then along
46:37 come these [ __ ] punk rockers that
46:40 have electric guitars. They've got their
46:42 amps cranked to 11 and they know three
46:45 chords of two, you know, two strings
46:47 each with three chords and they scream
46:50 into a microphone
46:52 and you could look at what punk rock was
46:54 doing and if you're a musician, you look
46:57 at it and you go, "That's not music."
47:02 And yet it changed the world because it
47:05 was a new form of expression.
47:08 That's what AI is. Vibe coding is punk
47:11 rock. Suno is punk rock.
47:16 Everyone's sitting on the sidelines
47:18 going just slap and say I stop.
47:22 They're not looking at it as a creative
47:24 expression tool. They're looking at it
47:27 as a threat. And what I can tell you, if
47:29 if you see AI like this and you're
47:32 you're trying to fight against it and
47:35 you're going, "My genius is this big and
47:38 I'm going to fight AI so it will never
47:40 be bigger than my creative genius."

47:50 at AI and and it's not a competition

1:09:59 One of the things that we we talked
1:10:01 about last week week was crossing
1:10:03 domains, going into domains where you're
1:10:05 not comfortable. Like I'm comfortable in
1:10:07 music. I'm comfortable in images. I'm
1:10:09 comfortable in writing. I'm not
1:10:11 comfortable in coding. I'm not
1:10:13 comfortable in a bunch of different
1:10:15 things, finances, things like that.
1:10:19 What AI allows you to do is step into
1:10:22 those areas where you know you're not
1:10:24 good, where you know you don't have the
1:10:27 skills. So, Side Hustle
1:10:30 um started vibe coding. Instead, she
1:10:32 wanted to create an app and she created
1:10:34 an app that was about helping people.
1:10:37 And then she ran into um Apple basically
1:10:42 saying if you're doing anything akin to
1:10:45 um you know psychological counseling uh
1:10:49 you got a bunch of regulations you got
1:10:51 to follow there little lady. So she's
1:10:54 like oh [ __ ] I'm going to have to go
1:10:56 deal with that. In the meantime she came
1:10:59 up with this really cute idea for an app
1:11:01 about um Puerto Rican frogs as stickers.
1:11:04 It's like a sticker app. And so she's
1:11:07 been building it and and today she was
1:11:10 like, you know, she's run into a couple
1:11:12 of brick walls getting it submitted to

1:35:38 his wife Tara.

1:35:41 act one. We're inside this company
