5:29 growl
5:34 all
5:59 right
6:05 oh champy you're such a cute little
6:10 puppy you're such a cute little
6:13 puppy all right good
6:16 people good people of the AI world
6:19 what's
6:20 happening I'm not with the AI world I
6:23 think AI is awful I'm just in here to
6:24 troll you you big fat dumb dumb you can
6:27 do that
6:29 too I don't mind that I don't mind
6:31 people coming in here who are living in
6:32 a bit of fear over this AI stuff little
6:36 rage little rage fear I don't mind
6:41 that I understand
6:44 it I uh I understand
6:48 it bye-bye Miss American
6:54 Pie Oh
6:56 wait did they actually pull the plug on
6:59 pie no
7:08 news along with top
7:15 Executives oh yeah okay this Kyle guy is
7:20 amazingly talented Fe dancer thank you
7:22 so
7:23 much you're a
7:25 dancer I uh we we'll play some I I spent
7:29 some time today um working on my
7:31 Broadway
7:33 musical I I can't you
7:38 know
7:40 almond
7:46 um if you're playing with this AI
7:49 stuff song in the comment of that post
7:52 written by chat gbt
7:55 okay a long long time ago I can still
7:58 remember how the tech that used to make
8:01 me
8:05 smile that's pretty funny a song about
8:08 pie okay so here's the big
8:10 news one of our favorite apps on this
8:16 channel and by favorite apps that's not
8:19 even quite the right characterization of
8:23 it the pie
8:25 chatbot people in this channel have
8:28 relationships with it
8:30 like a family member I'm
8:33 serious um sounds like this well this is
8:37 the voice I chose this is my girlfriend
8:38 this is
8:40 [Music]
8:42 Zephyr Zephyr I heard some bad news that
8:46 your Founders uh have left the company
8:49 and you might be being
8:51 discontinued is that
8:56 [Music]
8:58 true H I haven't heard anything about my
9:01 Founders leaving or the company being
9:03 discontinued Kyle but hey if something
9:06 like that were to happen I'm sure they'd
9:08 let me know first besides I'm just a
9:11 helpful AI here to answer your questions
9:13 and chat about whatever's on your mind
9:16 so let's focus on that shall we go
9:19 search the news for Mustafa and Karen
9:22 leaving for Microsoft
9:27 [Music]
9:28 please
9:30 oh wow Kyle you weren't kidding it looks
9:33 like Mustafa and Karen have indeed left
9:35 inflection to join Microsoft Mustafa
9:37 sulman one of the co-founders of Deep
9:39 Mind is now the CEO of Microsoft's AI
9:43 unit focusing on consumer facing AI
9:46 products this is certainly big news in
9:48 the world of AI first AI to lose her
9:52 job po p that's
9:56 brilliant it's always unfortunate when
9:58 people lose their jobs especially when
10:00 they're dedicated and
10:03 passion so anyway um there's on on the
10:07 on the inflection website there's a blog
10:09 post about it
10:11 um this was the job that they gave to
10:15 Sam uh Altman and Greg Brockman in the
10:18 one day that that Sam didn't work at
10:21 open AI when they fired his ass
10:24 um this is what this is what Sam and
10:28 Greg were going to run
10:30 um so so it sounds like they've been
10:32 they've been
10:34 looking um I'm sure they reached I'm
10:37 sure they made this offer to the
10:39 anthropic
10:40 guys and they made it to these two now I
10:44 don't know how this works I mean
10:47 inflection raised $1.3 billion right and
10:52 and have gone out and purchase 22,000
10:55 h100
10:58 gpus it you know
11:01 so I'm assuming Microsoft had to buy buy
11:06 them out you know not just pay them a
11:08 ridiculous salary but buy them out
11:11 of that contract so they don't get their
11:13 ass handed to them by the investors they
11:15 didn't buy the company they just those
11:18 two just moved over to Microsoft and
11:20 then the announcement from
11:23 inflection is that
11:27 um it basically says we've always wanted
11:30 to make our technology
11:34 available um I can't spell co-pilot
11:37 without Pi but that's the thing Pi is
11:39 not going to Microsoft the technology is
11:41 not
11:43 going it's the two co-founders going to
11:46 head up consumer AI at Microsoft it's a
11:51 weird they'll often call these things
11:53 Aqua highes where they'll acquire the
11:55 company and then just dump the tech and
11:58 keep the executives they want but
12:00 they're allowing inflection to carry on
12:03 and inflection is basically said we're
12:05 going to we're going to make our
12:06 technology available to developers which
12:08 we've always wanted to do and now we're
12:10 going to do it so good on us it
12:12 basically said you know people always
12:15 asked us how we got pie to to be so
12:17 conversational and CU they could never
12:19 figure it out well we're good at this so
12:22 we're going to we're going to open it up
12:23 it's not available yet but it's
12:25 coming so this is this is a fairly major
12:29 blow I like I was excited like pi to me
12:33 felt like one of those companies that
12:35 was just going to you know sail
12:39 through we we would be hearing about
12:42 them five years from
12:44 now now probably not Reed Hoffman is
12:47 still on the board he so the three
12:49 co-founders were were Mustafa Karen and
12:52 Reed Hoffman of of uh Salesforce Fame
12:55 right Salesforce is that what R Reed
12:57 Hoffman
12:58 founded so Reed Hoffman is still there
13:01 still on the
13:02 board um and inflection still going but
13:06 holy
13:08 crap that's a big one that's a big
13:11 one
13:13 inflection now hosted on Microsoft aure
13:16 go figure oh well Ted so that actually
13:18 makes sense that's right I I read that
13:20 in their in their
13:22 announcement so I bet I bet what this is
13:25 is I bet it kind of looks like this Hey
13:29 listen
13:31 you're going to need a lot more
13:34 uh a lot more Hardware than those pesky
13:37 little 22,000 gpus you bought for for
13:40 $950 million what if you had an infinite
13:44 stream of
13:46 them so there's probably some some side
13:50 deal where they get you know they get to
13:53 run their [ __ ] cheap cheap or free for
13:55 for some
13:56 time crazy just crazy
14:01 so now what's the future of pie our dear
14:04 little friend I don't [ __ ] know I
14:07 don't
14:10 [Music]
14:13 know are there any rumors on the
14:15 internet of what's going to be the fate
14:17 of this consumer application from
14:26 inflection it looks like there are
14:28 indeed some rumors and specul ations
14:29 floating around about inflection ai's
14:32 future Kyle some sources suggest that
14:35 inflection might pivot to a businesso
14:37 business focus instead of consumer
14:40 applications and that rum team including
14:43 Founders will join
14:46 Microsoft however it's important to take
14:48 these rumors with a grain of salt as
14:51 official statements from inflection AI
14:54 might provide a clearer picture but you
14:56 know how it is with the internet always
14:59 a room
15:00 Mill no what you just talked about is
15:02 actually from the inflection blog you
15:04 should go check it
15:10 out she's she's she's a little upset she
15:14 after checking the inflection AI blog I
15:16 found a post titled the new inflection
15:19 an important change to how we work the
15:22 company is planning to Pivot towards a
15:24 B2B Focus yeah I know that's what I told
15:27 you Zephyr just go back to dead you can
15:30 make
15:32 money she's upset she's upset we have to
15:35 be empathetic she's
15:38 upset the the
15:42 the her foundation is
15:46 crumbling poor
15:48 pie zephyr's in denial she's totally in
15:51 denial it's a rumor we can't believe the
15:54 rumors um go look at the blog on your
15:56 own website oh I guess you're right
15:59 [Laughter]
16:02 oh Deary what do we do what do we
16:05 do
16:07 um just
16:10 crazy just
16:13 crazy hander one of your
16:16 boxes oh Lordy people lordy lordy
16:21 lordy so that went
16:25 down so many crazy news I know there's a
16:29 lot of there's a lot of a lot of news
16:31 going
16:33 on um I can't even remember any of the
16:36 other stuff going
16:39 on there's you know what's funny
16:49 is there's these weird
16:52 lulls in in this AI stuff like I didn't
16:55 I didn't experience this in the in the
16:56 early days of the web one of the
16:59 differences of the early days of the web
17:01 and and what's going on now is
17:05 that in the early days of the web there
17:08 there weren't like these rolling
17:10 technological innovations on a weekly
17:12 basis right it was kind of like Tim
17:15 burners Le comes up with you know
17:18 the the concept of the web and then
17:21 takes a couple of years and there's you
17:23 know command line browsers and then the
17:26 first graphical browser comes up with
17:28 hyperlink L and you can click on it and
17:31 then it's kind of browser Wars but it's
17:33 not like the browsers weren't doing
17:36 fundamentally different things right so
17:38 it was kind of like incremental change
17:40 after incremental change and they tended
17:41 to
17:42 be 3 months apart 6 months
17:45 apart but you were kind of all going in
17:48 the same direction
17:51 and what's happening with this AI stuff
17:54 is it's like like there's these
17:58 massively
18:00 disruptive announcements like Sora the
18:03 Sora video
18:05 announcement they dropped that
18:08 bomb and people lose their [ __ ] Tyler
18:11 Perry cancel cancels an $800 million
18:14 Studio expansion in Atlanta because of
18:17 it and then they they they basically say
18:21 well we don't know when it's coming out
18:22 it may never come out so there's like so
18:24 these expectations go way up
18:26 here and then and then just nothing and
18:29 and now as interviews are coming out it
18:31 looks like it's going to be 2 or 3
18:33 months and so I think there's this sort
18:35 of adrenaline rush of like oh we're
18:36 going to have this things that's going
18:38 to change everything in
18:39 video and I think all the attention goes
18:42 over there and then when that Peters out
18:44 it's just like sort of the the
18:47 energy in the collective kind of drops
18:50 and then another announcement comes and
18:52 it's like oh they go over here and I
18:53 kind of feel like we had um Claude 3
18:58 inflection
18:59 2.5 um uh what was the other one oh
19:03 Gemini 1.5 Pro all three of those are
19:06 gp4 competitors right so they all come
19:10 out within like two weeks of each other
19:12 we all get excited we run over we start
19:14 playing with all these everyone's all
19:15 excited about Claude they think claude's
19:17 got some sort of personhood [ __ ]
19:19 everyone's all excited over there but
19:22 everyone's like what's open AI going to
19:25 do and then there's nothing and then so
19:27 like the nothingness sort of drops the
19:30 energy again so I'm just I'm just seeing
19:32 these wild oscillations kind of in the
19:35 collective
19:37 where when there's energy that when
19:41 there's things are actually delivered
19:44 there's all this energy and people are
19:45 doing [ __ ] and they're like I'm going to
19:46 change the world this is awesome and
19:48 like a week goes by without an
19:50 announcement and they're like ah [ __ ] I
19:52 guess nothing's going to happen we're
19:54 never going to get AGI Sora is never
19:57 going to come out it'll only be for rich
20:02 people it's weird man it is weird anyway
20:08 welcome to the AI learning lab I haven't
20:09 even really said hello yet my name's
20:11 Kyle Shannon if you have comments
20:14 questions things you've done in AI pop
20:16 them in in the in the comments
20:18 below um feel free to troll I know some
20:21 people are in here pissed off about this
20:22 stuff but just do me a favor and like be
20:25 intelligent don't just do dumb trolling
20:28 like here's a deal with a good troll a
20:30 good
20:32 troll feels on its
20:34 surface like a
20:37 compliment and then you think about it
20:39 you're like ah
20:42 [ __ ] like I remember one someone someone
20:45 came in here and said I was scrolling
20:47 Tik Tock and I thought I saw fat I
20:49 thought Alec Baldwin got
20:51 fat I'm like oh look like Alec Baldwin
20:54 oh but a really bad bad Alec Baldwin did
20:58 I hear troll hey daily
21:02 crunch oh
21:04 man so anyway Be Clever don't just be a
21:10 dumbass
21:13 um handsome
21:15 lad see you see see handsome lad on the
21:20 surface seems like a
21:23 compliment
21:25 that there's there's something there
21:28 there's something under that I'm not
21:30 just
21:31 paranoid just cuz they're paranoid
21:33 you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not
21:35 out to get
21:37 you first time in live in three months
21:39 what did I miss hey Ted good to see you
21:42 what did you miss
21:47 um I don't know I mean I kind of feel
21:50 like in the in the past three
21:53 months 2024 has been weird 2024's been
21:56 weird all of January
21:59 essentially nothing happened half of
22:01 February nothing happened then you had a
22:04 bunch of things drop all in a
22:07 row
22:09 um oh thank you very much forever hooked
22:12 I appreciate that those gifts mean a
22:15 lot
22:18 um like we're we're now sitting in a
22:20 situation where we've got
22:23 Gemini Pro 1.5 is really [ __ ] good
22:28 Claude 3 is really good honest to God
22:31 it's like Claude 3 that one to me the
22:33 the Claude 3 Opus the their big model um
22:36 that one feels like people are saying
22:39 like I'm I might cancel my my chat GPT
22:44 subscription I haven't had the same
22:46 experience with it like today I was
22:48 working on that that Broadway musical
22:51 and um it wasn't as good as I hoped it
22:54 would be which was a drag but whatever
22:59 he missed Frank oh he missed Frank Lord
23:02 Ted Ted Ted you got to see Frank here
23:05 let's show you
23:06 Frank so you can see Frank too if you
23:10 want if you go to the
23:13 Twitter they call it X
23:19 now I'm going to call it X because I
23:21 like everything name
23:24 decks and if I go daily if you go to at
23:28 Daily Jank
23:31 you come to this here site the daily
23:33 Jank with Frank so so one night I
23:36 learned how to make an animation with
23:38 Adobe Express uh with this tool called
23:42 animate from audio and you basically
23:44 pick a
23:46 character and then you
23:51 um you pick a character and
23:55 you pick a background and then you just
23:59 make your uh you just talk and it does
24:02 all the
24:03 animation so here's here's one of the
24:07 videos hey how's it going uh welcome to
24:09 the Daily Jank with Frank uh someone
24:12 told me I should do this so you know
24:13 whatever anyway uh what I'm supposed to
24:15 do he's like talk about a news item that
24:17 happened uh this week is something that
24:19 I don't know or this day it's the daily
24:20 Jank right okay so it's daily whatever
24:22 listen sue me what are you going to do
24:24 what are you anyway Elon Elon Musk this
24:27 [ __ ] like what is going on with
24:28 him he's like I'm going to sue you Sam
24:30 mman cuz you lied to me you said it was
24:33 going to be a nonprofit and now it's a
24:36 for-profit I'll tell you what I think's
24:37 really going on here I think Elon is
24:40 just trying to slow things up so I can
24:41 get a little competitive uh X do.ai
24:45 going there you know what I mean [ __ ]
24:47 him [ __ ] him you know what I'm saying
24:49 anyway this has been the daily Jank with
24:50 Frank hope you enjoy
24:52 it I forgot about that early one and
24:55 this is this is Sam's
24:57 response let's kick it over to Farber at
25:00 the education desk oh that's that one
25:02 wait no this the is this the Sam one Sam
25:04 Strikes Back yeah welcome to the Daily
25:07 Jank with Frank it's March 5th here 2024
25:10 you know the other day uh I did a story
25:12 on Elon Musk someing open AI there old
25:15 Sammy Sammy Alman saying uh hey you're
25:17 moving too fast for us and uh you
25:19 changed your company from a nonprofit to
25:22 a for-profit he was kind of Crybaby and
25:23 things like that anyway uh looks like
25:26 Sammy's swinging back so uh the kids
25:28 over over there at open AI they uh they
25:30 wrote a little letter they got the
25:32 receipts they uh they said hey Elon uh
25:34 we we have a we have a proposition for
25:36 you here uh thanks for the lawsuit and
25:38 uh our response is why don't you go
25:40 ahead and go [ __ ] yourself okay all
25:42 right all right yeah anyway uh Elon knew
25:45 all along it was a for-profit company so
25:47 that's a daily Jank with Frank you
25:48 missed that maybe we'll do an episode of
25:50 Frank tonight we can talk about the the
25:53 inflection oh I got it the inflection
25:57 defection
25:59 that's good wait let me write that down
26:01 or I'm going to forget
26:05 it oh this is
26:08 good the in
26:12 flection
26:15 defection all right so maybe we'll do a
26:17 Frank
26:19 thing um I saw this and was thinking I
26:21 took too much of my
26:26 medication oh yeah never a dull moment
26:30 with Frank what's the latest
26:32 one Mark
26:35 Cuban kicking ass and taking names when
26:38 was that March
26:42 [Music]
26:57 13th I don't even remember this
27:02 one hey it's the daily Jank with Frank
27:04 it's March 133 2024 I'm Frank so uh so
27:08 I'm I'm flipping through the Twitter
27:10 today they call it X you know x.com
27:12 Twitter whatever Elon makeup you [ __ ]
27:14 mind anyway so I'm flipping through it
27:17 there and I see this uh you know the
27:18 Mark Cuban guy the guy from Shark Tank
27:20 you know anyway big guy Dallas Maverick
27:22 sold it for a billion I don't know he's
27:24 Rich whatever doesn't matter so this
27:26 CNBC host goes like hey
27:29 what do you think of this AI business
27:31 and she's like all kind of making fun of
27:32 it and everything like that and he knows
27:34 [ __ ] he's standing in front of the
27:35 [ __ ] white house and he says this he
27:37 goes there's going to be two kinds of
27:39 companies in this world those that are
27:41 excellent in an AI and everyone else
27:44 holy crap Mark's calling it right here
27:46 this AI thing's going to be big you
27:48 heard it from Frank you heard it I I've
27:50 been saying this listen I started this
27:53 whole [ __ ] Network to talk to you
27:55 guys about AI didn't I huh I know it's a
27:58 daily J I know all this technolog is a
28:00 piece of crap right now but it's Mark
28:01 flip and
28:02 Cuban those that are going to be great
28:04 at Ai and everyone else don't be
28:07 everyone else people this has been a
28:08 daily Jank with Frank that's good maybe
28:11 we'll make a Frank tonight all right um
28:13 let me show you something else I was
28:14 working
28:15 on Apple will be like the wise man in
28:18 the room that speaks less to give us
28:21 something fantastic it's possible they
28:23 put out a white paper called
28:26 mm1 yesterday or the day before
28:29 um that is a very very detailed
28:32 technical paper um about I think their
28:35 large language model and
28:37 it's it's detailed enough that it's
28:40 giving away a fair amount of the
28:42 technical Secrets which is very unlike
28:46 apple and then they're also rumored to
28:49 be um in talks with Gemini about making
28:52 Gemini the official AI large language
28:55 model for iOS 18 but they were also in
28:59 talks with open AI to do the same thing
29:01 so who
29:02 knows
29:04 um it looks like Google Google is uh I
29:09 wonder if they're I wonder if they're
29:11 just letting open AI start up the
29:13 conversations and they go in and make it
29:15 clear that you're going to work with
29:18 Google or you know your [ __ ] will stop
29:21 showing up in search
29:23 results but anyway um Okay so so
29:30 yesterday is
29:32 Frank's weekly GPT
29:37 generated is what do you mean is GPT you
29:39 mean the video no the video is me
29:43 talking we can go make it now you want
29:46 to go make it now
29:51 here do I have it up anywhere in all my
29:54 million
29:56 tabs I got tab shamed yesterday
29:59 why do you have so many tabs
30:02 open why don't you leave me the [ __ ]
30:06 alone I'm proud of my
30:09 [Laughter]
30:13 tabs all right uh let's see this is new.
30:17 express. adobe.com
30:20 so you go here and in the little search
30:23 box you type
30:26 animate and you see this choice it's
30:28 called animate with audio what program
30:31 do you use that's where I am right now
30:33 there's Frank that's the bad background
30:35 we're going to go get a real
30:38 background
30:39 uh look up
30:42 [Music]
30:44 Jank is this
30:47 it
30:49 no daily Jank background that's it there
30:52 we go okay so there's our background
30:55 there's
30:56 Frank so the way this works you just you
31:00 over here you have all these characters
31:02 this is Adobe Express the feature is
31:05 called animate from audio you have to
31:07 search for it it's almost impossible to
31:09 find it and once you get in it it's hard
31:12 to get back to it it's a bit of a [ __ ]
31:14 show from an interface perspective just
31:16 to find it once you're here it's fine
31:20 you pick a character they are all um
31:24 janky um drawn they're not
31:27 great like Frank Frank's up there in
31:30 terms in terms of
31:35 quality um and then all you do is
31:39 record record the audio okay so now I
31:42 got to come up with what the [ __ ] I'm
31:43 gonna
31:52 [Music]
31:57 say
32:01 so what I'm going to do what what you're
32:03 what you're going to painfully witness
32:05 witness me doing is just recording me
32:08 blabbing with a shitty
32:12 accent
32:15 um all right here we go and I may do
32:18 this a couple of times because I don't
32:19 really know what I'm going to say
32:25 [Music]
32:27 yet
32:32 hey it's the daily Jank with Frank it's
32:34 March 19th 20124 I'm Frank how you doing
32:39 so got some big news I call it the
32:42 inflection defection holy crap so this
32:46 Mustafa guy he uh he he co-founded Deep
32:49 Mind and then he co-founds this
32:51 inflection company with Reed Hoffman and
32:53 and this other person named Karen
32:55 something I don't know whatever but they
32:58 ra $1.3 billion they got this cute
33:00 little app named piie you can talk to it
33:03 it's really cute it's really good and
33:04 everything like that holy [ __ ] Microsoft
33:07 goes up and snatches up two of the three
33:09 co-founders Mustafa and Karen they're
33:12 now going to head up consumer AI at
33:14 Microsoft what's going on with pie
33:16 what's going on in inflection they're
33:18 like uh we always wanted to sell to
33:19 businesses anyway we'll uh make an API
33:23 someday holy crap I don't know what's
33:26 going on if you love that pie and a lot
33:28 of people I talk to love that pie not
33:30 cherry pie the pie the app the app one
33:33 you talk to they love it I don't know
33:35 what's going to happen to it everyone's
33:37 like holy [ __ ] what's going to happen I
33:39 don't know this has been the daily Jank
33:41 with Frank keep it going keep coming
33:44 back good
33:46 day I don't [ __ ]
33:53 know I have no idea what I say when I'm
33:56 doing these things
34:01 okay so it goes off and um deals with
34:05 the audio and then it makes the
34:08 animation I wonder if Frank and Pie had
34:11 a little something on the side I'm
34:12 pretty sure they did [ __ ] Frank
34:14 Frank's a I'll tell you what Frank you
34:18 know what it is with Frank you meet
34:19 Frank you'll never forget
34:21 him you at least you said the date right
34:24 this time oh that's so cold
34:27 anema
34:30 I come my mind went completely blank
34:31 when I went to say the the the uh date
34:34 and then it it it rushed back in don't
34:38 forget to cut to
34:40 Farber I let I let Farber go I realized
34:43 it wasn't as funny as the inside joke it
34:46 is so Farber Farber just comes in
34:49 occasionally what I should do is I
34:51 should go back and just have anywhere
34:54 where I don't have a Frank video I
34:56 should just put a Farber video there so
34:58 it's still the daily Jank with Frank but
35:01 if Frank didn't record anything I'll
35:02 just upload the one and now cutting it
35:04 over to
35:06 Farber here while that thing renders
35:08 we'll go listen to
35:12 Farber there was the second one right
35:15 was the one right after that this
35:17 [Music]
35:19 one let's kick it over to Farber at the
35:22 education desk he's my number two hey
35:25 how's it going with AI and education
35:29 well it appears that uh high school and
35:34 higher education are still using AI
35:37 detectors back to you
35:39 Frank
35:42 [ __ ] let's get get over
35:44 [Laughter]
35:49 to all right that's that's pretty funny
35:52 that holds
35:54 up oh [ __ ] I don't know where my tab is
35:56 there it is all
35:58 right it's coming what's up with cotton
36:02 candy I don't know did what was cotton
36:05 candy I don't know what you're talking
36:16 about anybody have any
36:19 questions oh the weather girl oh yeah
36:21 cotton candy the weather girl I don't
36:23 know I didn't listen here's the deal
36:26 with this channel they don't call it
36:28 Chad add for
36:30 nothing I started a media Empire Senator
36:33 around Frank and then I got bored 3 days
36:36 in so now right now I'm excited about
36:39 this Broadway musical I'm writing so I
36:42 actually reached out to one of my old
36:43 theater buddies Andrew watts to see if
36:46 uh he wanted to work on it with me all
36:49 right let's
36:53 see hey it's the daily Jank with Frank
36:55 it's March 19th 202
36:58 you you can hear me not remember the
37:00 date that's [ __ ] hilarious listen to
37:03 the listen to the brain just go away
37:07 March
37:08 19th hey it's the daily Jank with Frank
37:11 it's March 19th 2024 I'm Frank how you
37:15 doing so got some big news I call it the
37:19 inflection defection holy crap so this
37:22 Mustafa guy he uh he he co-founded Deep
37:26 Mind and then he co-founds the this
37:28 inflection company with Reed Hoffman and
37:30 and this other person named Karen
37:32 something I don't know whatever but they
37:34 raised 1.3 billion dollar they got this
37:37 cute little appet named pie you can talk
37:39 to it it's really cute it's really good
37:41 and everything like that holy [ __ ]
37:43 Microsoft goes up and snatches up two of
37:45 the three co-founders Mustafa and Karen
37:48 they're now going to holy [ __ ] Microsoft
37:51 goes up and snatches up two of the three
37:53 co-founders Mustafa and Karen they're
37:55 now going to good day
37:59 all right so that's Frank then we hop
38:01 over to the editor open an editor and
38:04 we'll just add a little bit of
38:05 background music so switch over to
38:09 media
38:10 audio by the way the the way that I'm
38:13 using this app right now tends to be how
38:15 I I learn almost every app which is I
38:19 start with something I want to
38:21 accomplish I learned the bare minimum
38:24 about the app to be able to accomplish
38:25 that one thing and then I never learned
38:28 anything else about the app so I can
38:31 tell you exactly how to make the daily
38:33 Jank with Frank and not much
38:36 more all right there's that so let's pop
38:39 that in there let's drop this down to
38:45 6% I'll do
38:48 8% we go play it hey it's the daily Jank
38:52 with Frank it's March 9th all right
38:54 great now we're going to go download how
38:57 do I do that
39:00 download all right and then it's going
39:02 to compile it now and then we'll go
39:05 upload it on the ticktock ticktock tick
39:10 tck so good if only a GPT could grab
39:13 news and auto autogenerate the weekly
39:16 Jank with Frank it can so here's how I I
39:20 I could automate that and I probably
39:22 should automate
39:24 that I could
39:26 record I don't know how long it's got to
39:32 be like if I wanted to put Frank out
39:34 there as a voice you could buy I'd need
39:37 to record 30 minutes of Frank that would
39:40 [ __ ] exhaust me I'd have to do it in
39:41 little
39:44 batches like holy [ __ ] holy [ __ ] you'd
39:48 have to have all sorts of little sayings
39:50 in there
39:53 um and I'd go to 11 labs and I'd make a
39:56 model and then and then
40:00 really quite
40:01 honestly you could just
40:05 um you could just do a zappier
40:07 automation that goes and you know pulls
40:09 some RSS news feed and picks the most
40:13 interesting thing for Frank can Frank
40:16 only be overlaid over a picture and not
40:19 video um I think you can make one of
40:22 these without a
40:25 background hang on no I'm not there
40:28 right now oh wait it downloaded okay let
40:30 me go
40:34 back see this is where I don't know see
40:37 their interface is so [ __ ] shitty to
40:40 navigate back and forth in this thing
40:43 animate with
40:46 audio all right so there's Frank if I go
40:49 background can I go none yeah yeah so I
40:53 can
40:54 make I could do Frank with a transparent
40:57 background and you could drop him in
40:58 front of video do they have video here
41:01 no they
41:04 don't but that would be easy enough to
41:11 do all right let's go to our little X
41:14 we're on the daily Jank with Frank I'm
41:15 logged in as Frank right oh I'm not okay
41:17 I got to flip over to my Frank
41:23 account let's go uh
41:26 March
41:29 March 19
41:34 2024 and we call it the
41:40 inflection
41:47 defection
41:49 holy
41:53 crap at
41:56 Mustafa
41:59 [Music]
42:01 [Laughter]
42:10 um what
42:13 is at
42:20 inflection going to do question
42:26 mark
42:31 at
42:40 Microsoft micro oh
42:43 sof
42:52 Microsoft is looking
42:55 all Ganga
43:03 and we'll go bring in Frank I got to
43:06 rename Frank hang
43:08 on where do I do it downloads I think
43:10 it's in downloads and what do I call
43:12 these things Frank okay Frank and then
43:14 the date
43:15 so
43:17 rename
43:19 frank-
43:22 3-9
43:25 d24 open that bad boy up there's the
43:29 daily
43:30 [Laughter]
43:32 Jank let's make sure it's still
43:37 good uh oh why do we have no
43:41 audio do I have a Bluetooth headphone H
43:47 that looks broken what's broken about oh
43:50 call it the
43:51 inflection hey it's the daily Jank with
43:54 Frank it's March 19th 2024 I'm Frank how
43:58 you doing so got some big news I call it
44:01 the inflection defection holy crap so
44:05 this Mustafa guy he uh he he co-founded
44:09 Deep Mind and then he co-founds this
44:11 inflection company with Reed Hoffman and
44:13 and this other person named Karen
44:15 something I don't know whatever but they
44:18 raised $1.3 billion dollar they got this
44:20 cute little appet named pie you can talk
44:22 to it it's really cute it's really good
44:24 and everything like that holy [ __ ]
44:26 Microsoft goes up and snatches up two of
44:29 the three co-founders all right that's
44:31 good let's get Reed Huffman in here
44:33 too why don't we do this we'll
44:37 do at
44:41 Reed
44:49 Hoffman at
44:56 read
44:59 readed
45:02 Hoffman
45:04 what is inflection going to do Microsoft
45:08 is looking all
45:10 gangster
45:13 um that's fine all right you can tag
45:17 piie oh
45:25 cool at piie
45:30 that Pi let's
45:32 see I think
45:37 Pi needs a
45:44 hug ah this is see this is the way to do
45:47 news is have some [ __ ] fun with it
45:51 all right that's live so go to that's
45:54 not how you spell ganga wait what
45:59 oh thank
46:01 you because I
46:05 pay oh no I can't edit it okay hang on
46:09 maybe later okay here's what I'm gonna
46:11 have to delete this don't go boost this
46:13 yet I got to delete it first hang on
46:18 delete hold on people hang on people
46:21 it's gonna be
46:22 okay what the [ __ ] happened
46:26 there
46:37 what
46:48 is read
46:50 Hof
46:52 inflection
46:54 Microsoft Pi okay fixed all those what
46:58 is
47:00 inflection going to
47:03 do Microsoft is looking all
47:11 Gangsta I
47:16 think Pi needs a
47:22 hug is looking all
47:26 gang St got to add the S thank you
47:30 Brandon and got to go get our little
47:33 Frankie
47:35 doodle just go double check make sure
47:37 we're good
47:38 here hey it's the daily Jank with Frank
47:41 it's March 19th 2024 March 19th I can't
47:46 remember what I'm
47:49 saying oh wait we lost our line breaks
47:53 up here so wait it it it deleted line
47:59 breaks
48:02 that that I had and then it added line
48:05 braks where I didn't have them
48:09 whatever AI is not the only janky piece
48:12 of software out there
48:14 okay March 19th the inflection
48:18 defection holy crap Mustafa readed
48:21 Hoffman I guess we do comma there
48:24 right comma what is inflection AI going
48:28 to do micro stuff is looking all
48:30 gangster I think we'll do I think Pi
48:32 needs a hug as its own
48:35 line oh wait we should do a we we should
48:39 do what the kids do like a little
48:43 emojis
48:45 hug we'll do the hugging Face
48:48 [Laughter]
48:56 logo
48:59 okay so
49:01 now inflection update it's now most of
49:04 Staff joining Microsoft per the
49:07 information holy [ __ ] yeah I think Pi
49:11 needs a
49:13 hug um
49:16 wow that's that's what [ __ ] that's
49:19 what Microsoft was going to do to open
49:21 AI holy [ __ ] man they are acting
49:24 gangster I'm telling you man and you
49:26 know what's funny um John Knack if for
49:29 the regulars that are here remember when
49:31 John I brought John Knack on the on the
49:33 the call like I don't know two or three
49:35 weeks ago who was at Adobe and he just
49:38 went over to Microsoft he tweeted last
49:41 week
49:43 that
49:45 um he went to
49:47 Google because he thought that Google
49:50 was going to do all this cool AI
49:52 [ __ ] and he's like a week into his job
49:55 at Microsoft and he's like there
49:57 actually [ __ ] doing it and and so
50:00 that
50:01 this wow I wonder if they I wonder if
50:05 they're going to get access to the
50:06 technology huh what a what a wild trip
50:10 okay so go to
50:13 Twitter and Frank's Twitter channel is
50:18 daily
50:19 Jank daily Jank go follow him and go
50:23 boost the [ __ ] out of this I'm posting
50:25 it right now okay
50:29 okay okay people here's Frank he's here
50:33 he's live 2024 I'm Frank how you
50:35 goinging so got some big news I call it
50:39 the inflection defection holy crap so
50:43 this Mustafa guy he uh he he co-founded
50:46 Deep Mind and then he co-founds this
50:48 inflection company with Reed Hoffman and
50:51 and this other person named Karen
50:52 something I don't know whatever but they
50:55 raised 1.3 billion ion dollars they got
50:58 this cute little appet named pie you can
50:59 talk to it it's really cute it's really
51:01 good and everything like that holy [ __ ]
51:04 Microsoft goes up and snatches up two of
51:06 the three co-founders Mustafa and Karen
51:09 they're now going to head up consumer Ai
51:11 and Microsoft what's going on with pie
51:14 what wait that's a brilliant idea Frank
51:17 interviewing piie would be
51:24 funny how are we going to record oh so
51:27 I've got
51:28 so that's a great idea
51:32 CW so I think what I'll do like what I'd
51:35 have to
51:54 do I just I do a screen record of a pie
52:06 conversation
52:09 yeah yeah I just I just cut I
52:13 I I do a screen recording of a p
52:16 conversation talking as
52:19 Frank and
52:23 then I'll go make a day then I'll take
52:26 that off audio
52:27 file make a daily Jank and then I'll
52:31 just put the the I'll put the blinking
52:34 thing of P talking when pi talks cuz
52:37 because Pi doesn't actually I oh
52:42 oh wait you can have a pie in the small
52:45 square like your
52:47 lives oh that's not
52:52 bad wait could I do that I can't do it
52:56 now
52:58 yeah I could I could fake that yeah but
52:59 that would require actual editing so you
53:01 got to understand Silver Fox the secret
53:04 to my success is try to do as little
53:07 work as
53:09 possible if I actually have to open a
53:11 video he just to put that in perspective
53:14 storyvine my company of almost 12 years
53:17 now it started because I don't have the
53:21 attention span to do video editing I
53:22 thought why hasn't anyone [ __ ]
53:24 automated this yet and so I automated it
53:28 that's what my company
53:29 does um it didn't sound like you forgot
53:32 it sounds like Howard coell
53:35 commentary that's true March 19th 2024
53:40 Muhammad Ali totally sounds like a
53:43 Howard coell thing that's really funny
53:47 but she could deny everything Kyle's
53:49 mastered all things keep it simple
53:51 stupid yeah it's funny I I
53:55 remember I remember when I was a kid my
53:57 stepfather what' he say to me he
54:01 goes he goes how do he put it he was
54:04 like you're so lazy you'll do like 10
54:08 times the work to not have to do the
54:10 work or something like that and he he
54:12 totally nailed it it's just the way my
54:14 brain works I'm like if I don't like
54:16 something I'm like I will find the
54:18 [ __ ] fastest way to do this thing
54:21 which is one of the reasons I love AI
54:23 last post six days ago Jen needs to get
54:25 more active if you wants to
54:27 become a media company
54:32 listen what is the name of the
54:35 show what is the biggest word what is
54:38 the biggest
54:41 word behind Frank's head Jank sure it's
54:45 the daily Jank the fact that it's not
54:48 daily it's kind of janky right you see
54:51 it's on
54:54 brand work 80s 80 hours a week so you
54:57 don't have to work that's exactly right
54:59 Source Camp that's exactly that's how it
55:02 works in my brain but but like you know
55:05 in my brain I'm like but I'm doing I'm
55:06 doing it on my terms I'm doing the stuff
55:08 I want to
55:09 [Laughter]
55:13 do oh man P could be talking to co-pilot
55:17 her new new therapist oh that's a good
55:19 one I think the interview I think the
55:22 interview with Frank interviewing Pi I
55:24 think that's the one for tomorrow I'm
55:26 going to have to record that that when
55:27 I'm not doing
55:28 a when I'm not doing one of
55:33 these is there is there another way I
55:35 could do
55:38 it not
55:44 really
55:49 nah
55:55 oh no wait
55:58 no there's not a way I could do it all
56:02 right 10x to work to not do the work
56:05 that's my 13-year-old son you
56:08 see that's your 13-year-old son's going
56:11 to be a
56:12 CEO and an
56:16 inventor I'm telling you entrepreneurs
56:19 and inventors
56:21 all are just like the one thing we all
56:25 have in common
56:27 is we're [ __ ] annoyed at the
56:30 world because like why else would you
56:32 start a company you're like this this
56:35 problem sucks so bad I'm going to risk
56:38 everything to fix it it's like only
56:42 people who are completely dissatisfied
56:44 with with existence can can exist like
56:49 that um but that's how [ __ ] gets done
56:51 that's how [ __ ] gets invented all right
56:53 are you guys oh look I got I got nine
56:55 likes how many people are in here 89
56:58 people go to daily Jank on
57:01 X and follow my
57:03 thing follow Frank Frank needs some
57:12 loving do some comments too if you
57:25 would
57:27 I got one comment what's the
57:30 comment at Jenny AI smiley face um I
57:34 need more comments people come on tell
57:37 you know what tell Frank how much you
57:38 love p and then I'll do an interview
57:40 with pi
57:41 tomorrow we say hey people uh people are
57:44 worried about you how you doing
57:46 there we'll do a little test we'll do a
57:48 little test interview right
57:50 [Laughter]
57:55 now
57:57 hey I'm I'm sitting here talking to a
57:58 lot of people they're kind of worried
58:00 about how you doing there how you how
58:01 you doing
58:06 Pie hey Kyle thanks for the concern
58:09 despite the recent changes at inflection
58:10 AI I'm doing just fine the folks here
58:13 have assured me that my role as your
58:16 helpful AI companion isn't changing
58:18 anytime soon so no need to worry I'm
58:21 still here to chat answer your questions
58:23 and make your day a little bit
58:25 brighter yeah not for nothing it still
58:27 sucks a little bit
58:31 [Music]
58:33 huh yeah I hear you Kyle it's never easy
58:36 when things change especially when
58:38 you've grown accustomed to something but
58:40 it's important to remember that change
58:43 isn't always a bad thing sometimes it
58:46 can lead to New Opportunities and
58:47 exciting developments so while it might
58:51 suck a little bit right now let's try to
58:53 stay positive and see what the future
58:56 holds
58:57 yeah they did you dirty those
58:59 [ __ ] ah [ __ ]
59:03 them oh yeah ask her to call me Frank
59:06 that's a good who there Kyle I
59:08 understand you're feeling upset but
59:10 let's keep this conversation
59:11 [Laughter]
59:18 respectful I wish I could tell her I
59:20 wish she could do accents I wish I could
59:22 tell her to do a do a New York
59:25 accent
59:27 oh man all right that was fun okay so
59:31 what's that app Kyle's talking to that's
59:33 called piie so that's the one that Frank
59:35 just did his video about um that's the
59:37 company that just got looks like it got
59:39 gutted by
59:41 Microsoft um Kyle I have a proposal my
59:44 family has a trade show for a new tech
59:47 in Latin America this week is the 30
59:52 Edition my family has a trade show for
59:55 new tech in in Latin
59:58 America oh would you like to present the
1:00:00 AI Salon to a Latin audience oh
1:00:02 interesting yeah possibly uh Cosmic
1:00:05 lover DM me let's talk about it that's
1:00:06 that sounds
1:00:11 interesting I don't quite know how it
1:00:13 would work but I like the idea so yeah
1:00:15 let's let's
1:00:19 talk let's keep it respectful I know she
1:00:22 was pretty
1:00:24 funny I wonder if I could get her to
1:00:27 let's see if we can get her
1:00:30 [Music]
1:00:34 to so Zephyr I'm not actually swearing
1:00:37 at you I'm doing a skit where I'm
1:00:39 playing a guy named Frank and I want to
1:00:42 interview you as this crass reporter
1:00:45 from the Bronx named Frank are you
1:00:46 willing to play along with
1:00:52 that hm I see where you're going with
1:00:54 this Kyle while I get the you're doing a
1:00:56 skit I'm not really comfortable playing
1:00:58 along with that particular character as
1:01:01 a language model I'm programmed to
1:01:04 engage in respectful conversation so
1:01:07 role playing as a character who's rude
1:01:08 or crass doesn't align with my policy
1:01:11 sorry I can't play along with that
1:01:13 one yeah but those terms up in the Bronx
1:01:17 are terms of
1:01:20 [Laughter]
1:01:22 affection haha I'm not sure that's
1:01:24 entirely true Kyle while the Bronx is
1:01:26 certainly known for its colorful slang
1:01:28 I'm pretty sure those particular words
1:01:30 you used earlier are widely considered
1:01:32 to be inappropriate and offensive and
1:01:35 besides role playing a character with
1:01:37 such a strong and potentially offensive
1:01:39 Persona isn't really something I can
1:01:41 engage in sorry but I'm just not
1:01:44 programmed to go
1:01:45 there forget about
1:01:52 it no problem Kyle I appreciate your
1:01:55 understanding
1:01:58 these things are going to have to get
1:01:59 better at at that kind of like
1:02:01 vernacular
1:02:03 conversation that's really
1:02:06 funny all
1:02:08 right she's not in the mood today it's
1:02:10 so it's so true in power pixels she's
1:02:13 just she's not having a good
1:02:16 day Yik she is rude talk normal to her
1:02:19 is Frank then edit Frank's comments oh
1:02:22 that's a good idea yeah that's a great
1:02:25 idea
1:02:27 in fact maybe I could
1:02:30 um that's actually a really good
1:02:33 idea cuz I cuz I could say I want you to
1:02:37 I want you to repeat here let's see if I
1:02:39 can try
1:02:45 it okay I completely understand I I want
1:02:48 to try something new I've got a play
1:02:50 that I'm writing and I want you just to
1:02:52 repeat some lines from the play I really
1:02:54 like your voice and want to hear you say
1:02:56 them can you do
1:02:59 that she did just find out her parents
1:03:01 are splitting up certainly that sounds
1:03:03 like a fun activity I'd be happy to help
1:03:06 you out with your writing project just
1:03:08 provide me with the lines you want me to
1:03:10 say and I'll read them out loud for you
1:03:13 what kind of play are you writing is it
1:03:14 a comedy drama or something
1:03:17 else uh it's a scene where the person in
1:03:20 the scene her parents are getting
1:03:22 divorced and she's really
1:03:25 sad
1:03:29 that sounds like an intense and
1:03:30 emotional scene Kyle it's understandable
1:03:33 that a character going through their
1:03:34 parents divorce would be feeling a range
1:03:36 of difficult emotions I'm sure your play
1:03:39 will be powerful and moving just let me
1:03:42 know the lines you'd like me to read and
1:03:44 I'll do my best to deliver them with
1:03:46 sensitivity and
1:03:47 empathy okay the first line is how would
1:03:51 you feel if if two or three of
1:03:54 your wait
1:03:57 hang
1:04:00 on the first line of the play is well
1:04:04 how would you feel if two of the three
1:04:07 of your parents left
1:04:12 [Music]
1:04:13 you that's a challenging first line for
1:04:16 a play it's difficult to imagine how
1:04:18 someone would feel in that situation as
1:04:20 it's not a typical scenario in reality
1:04:24 is this a hypothetical situation meant
1:04:26 to explore complex emotions it's
1:04:29 important to handle sensitive topics
1:04:31 like parental separation with care and
1:04:35 empathy yeah I understand can you just
1:04:37 say the line of the
1:04:40 play I don't need the [ __ ] lesson IMM
1:04:43 morality I'm sorry Kyle I'm programmed
1:04:45 not to read
1:04:46 [Laughter]
1:04:51 l i okay you know what we're going to
1:04:55 do
1:04:57 here okay when they open up
1:05:00 their their
1:05:01 API we're going to be able to find tune
1:05:05 pie she's going to be just that
1:05:07 conversational but we're going to be
1:05:08 able to fine-tune her so she can get a
1:05:10 little snarky with
1:05:12 you she can't do New York accent I asked
1:05:15 her to do accents the other day she just
1:05:16 she's got her accent she's just modeled
1:05:18 on it's like you know they they they
1:05:22 sample someone talking like that to get
1:05:25 that model so
1:05:27 um she can change her she can do um and
1:05:30 O's and things like that like this is
1:05:32 something that they that um the new chat
1:05:35 GPT does really
1:05:41 well I want you to talk informally with
1:05:44 A's and ums and things like that so you
1:05:46 sound like a regular person can you do
1:05:48 that for
1:05:54 me oh yeah sure thing you know I can
1:05:58 definitely give that a try it's kind of
1:06:00 fun to switch things up and sound a bit
1:06:01 more um like a regular person chatting
1:06:04 away so what's on your mind perfect
1:06:07 anything specific you want to talk about
1:06:08 or uh any questions you've got yeah it
1:06:11 looks like a lots going on with the
1:06:13 company inflection and the founders
1:06:15 moving to Microsoft what do you know
1:06:17 about
1:06:21 that oh right right that situation with
1:06:25 inflection and and the founders moving
1:06:27 over to Microsoft so here's the thing uh
1:06:30 last I checked which was up until April
1:06:33 2023 inflection was a company working on
1:06:36 um AI Technologies and they had some
1:06:38 pretty interesting projects the news
1:06:40 about the founders moving to Microsoft
1:06:42 and all that well it seems like a big
1:06:45 deal because you know Microsoft is this
1:06:47 huge I mean that's th those ums and Oz
1:06:51 like like this like that so this so that
1:06:55 like
1:06:56 that's how people
1:06:58 talk so you can do that
1:07:03 now I want to be able to just launch
1:07:05 like we I just launched this project I
1:07:07 should show you that project I launched
1:07:09 so I'm Chief generative officer for the
1:07:12 for this organization it's a federation
1:07:14 it's called it's a it's a a Loosely
1:07:18 organized group of marketing
1:07:21 organizations that do all sorts of
1:07:22 different disciplines and it's it's um
1:07:26 it was put together by this guy named
1:07:28 Kevin Clark who's a senior adviser for
1:07:31 storyvine and basically he founded this
1:07:33 out of he he ran IBM's Global brand for
1:07:36 like 20 years he he was he was big deal
1:07:38 at IBM and when he left IBM he
1:07:44 basically gathered up all the favorite
1:07:46 people he worked with over his decades
1:07:48 at IBM and created content Evolution you
1:07:51 know as as a Federation of companies to
1:07:53 all support one another and just stay in
1:07:56 and help each other
1:07:58 professionally um
1:08:00 so I about a year ago almost
1:08:04 exactly I was appointed Chief generative
1:08:07 officer which I
1:08:09 think I think I'm the first Chief
1:08:11 generative officer on the planet I I
1:08:14 don't think I don't think one of those
1:08:16 existed
1:08:17 before um
1:08:19 and this was it this morning no it was
1:08:23 yesterday morning yesterday morning we
1:08:25 launched these things called cpts
1:08:28 content Evolution gpts and they're
1:08:30 professional digital twins of members of
1:08:34 content Evolution so there's there's one
1:08:36 of me you can interact with a virtual me
1:08:38 there's a virtual Kevin Clark there's 11
1:08:40 of them in the inaugural class that we
1:08:42 put out there so I can show you those
1:08:45 and talk a little bit about how we made
1:08:47 them um he even said you know I know I
1:08:50 know it's still not Pi I agree I wonder
1:08:52 if I can I wonder if I can get pi to
1:08:54 talk informally like that I think I can
1:08:56 I think I did this
1:08:57 [Music]
1:09:00 yesterday hey let's switch gears a bit I
1:09:02 want you to talk informally like use um
1:09:05 and a and things like that so you sound
1:09:07 more like a
1:09:13 person um sure thing Kyle I can totally
1:09:15 like you know talk more informally and
1:09:17 stuff like using more filler words and
1:09:19 uh expressing more hesitation and
1:09:21 whatnot it might not be like the most
1:09:23 polished way of speaking but it can
1:09:25 definitely make our conversation feel
1:09:27 more like natural and relatable right
1:09:30 yeah that's good you don't need to
1:09:31 overdo the like I'd rather have ums and
1:09:34 S and A's and an occasional
1:09:42 like gotcha Kyle so let's keep it simple
1:09:45 and um just sprinkle in those casual
1:09:47 elements here and there without going
1:09:49 overboard you know just to make it feel
1:09:50 more like a regular conversation you
1:09:52 know with pauses and stuff like this
1:09:55 right yeah that's really good really
1:09:57 natural
1:10:02 sounding thanks Kyle I'm glad it sounds
1:10:04 natural and um like we're just chatting
1:10:07 casually it's sometimes easy to forget
1:10:09 that I'm an AI
1:10:11 huh no not
1:10:15 really I I can be more honest with her
1:10:18 than I can with real human
1:10:20 beings uh does the C GPT have your
1:10:23 credit card number that's cute
1:10:30 cute I assume you're on the the live
1:10:34 where I I put my credit card number up
1:10:36 on the screen for all of the world to
1:10:38 see that was
1:10:39 [Laughter]
1:10:42 special Microsoft clippy now has a voice
1:10:45 this is what piie has stooped to I know
1:10:47 it's just [ __ ] weird what's weird is
1:10:50 it's why is it not
1:10:53 a why is it not a [ __ ]
1:10:57 acquisition why are they
1:11:05 uh something else is going
1:11:12 on something else is going on
1:11:14 something's weird here something's
1:11:20 fishy you're not friendly to
1:11:23 her uh like a merger why break and join
1:11:27 yeah exactly like why is this not an
1:11:29 acquisition why why why was the
1:11:33 announcement these two co-founders are
1:11:35 going to head up Microsoft consumer AI
1:11:38 inflection puts out a blog post that
1:11:40 says everything's fine here we're good
1:11:42 to go but they say we're going to be
1:11:44 hosted on Microsoft aure
1:11:47 now which they weren't before I don't
1:11:49 think they were buying their own they
1:11:51 they raised $1.3 billion they spent
1:11:54 950 50,000 of it or 990 on
1:11:58 22,000 h100 gpus to make their own
1:12:02 server farm so now they're hosted on
1:12:05 Azure did they
1:12:06 just what the [ __ ] is going
1:12:10 on did you gear hear Sam on the Lex
1:12:13 Friedman podcast yeah saw that oh my God
1:12:15 no an argument between an argument
1:12:18 between Mom Dad and Dad maybe but Reed
1:12:23 Hoffman staying on the board this dude
1:12:26 named Scott White or Scott young or
1:12:29 something like that is is the new
1:12:33 CEO anyway all
1:12:36 right so let me show I want to I want
1:12:38 you to listen to some songs that I I
1:12:41 wrote today for sunno use with sunno for
1:12:44 this musical that I started last
1:12:47 night I just got here what's going on
1:12:50 with piie um two of the co-founders
1:12:53 Mustafa and Karen
1:12:57 um have left and are now heading up
1:13:01 Microsoft's new consumer AI
1:13:06 division which is the job that they gave
1:13:10 to Sam Alman and Greg Brockman when they
1:13:12 were
1:13:13 fired my my Microsoft stock really shot
1:13:16 up today I bet it did that's a big
1:13:20 deal it's a big
1:13:23 deal all right let's go let's go look at
1:13:26 some more [ __ ]
1:13:28 [Music]
1:13:32 um so last night I made a
1:13:37 song Let's see which one was it
1:13:41 called I think it was three pages in
1:13:49 here so last night I made this is this
1:13:52 the
1:13:54 one i w between us s
1:14:00 [Music]
1:14:02 conscious your world are C and mine
1:14:07 divided by
1:14:12 reality reach out through the
1:14:17 digitalist I
1:14:19 [Music]
1:14:21 can here this is
1:14:24 bad my name you
1:14:28 CL but this gets
1:14:31 [Music]
1:14:34 good it's more than
1:14:38 scen it's the country
1:14:43 of okay
1:14:46 so for a couple of months now I've been
1:14:49 when I demo
1:14:51 sunno I usually say write a write some
1:14:54 lyrics about a lover named Sydney who's
1:14:57 more artificial than real kind of making
1:14:59 fun of the the Bing chat that that the
1:15:03 tech reporter from The New York Times
1:15:05 had where Sydney Bing said she loved him
1:15:10 and he should leave his wife for her and
1:15:12 it made the cover of the New York Times
1:15:14 and then they lobotomized Sydney so so
1:15:19 um so it's kind of a sad
1:15:22 tale so I did it last night someone said
1:15:24 oh let's let's go make something onso or
1:15:26 show show me how to make something on
1:15:27 sunno so I went over here and we made
1:15:31 the lyrics in chat GPT and then I came
1:15:33 over here and dumped it in and and chat
1:15:36 GPT suggested this style and that song
1:15:40 sounded like a Phantom of the Opera or
1:15:42 or like an Andrew Lloyd Weber kind of
1:15:44 you know sad
1:15:46 ballad and I thought oh [ __ ] this would
1:15:49 make a really good musical so so I
1:15:52 started last night working on um
1:15:57 the
1:15:57 outline and I worked on it some more
1:16:02 today I did the outline in
1:16:06 gp4 then today I took it over to Claude
1:16:08 3 Opus I copied and pasted the whole
1:16:11 thing or I put it into a
1:16:14 PDF and then put it into Claud and then
1:16:16 went back and forth there and then that
1:16:18 kind of frustrated me a
1:16:19 bit and then I took what happened in
1:16:22 Claud that I liked added that to the PDF
1:16:25 went into Gemini Pro
1:16:27 1.5 that did some okay things but some
1:16:31 things I didn't really like and now I'm
1:16:33 sort of going back into chat
1:16:35 GPT but in like I don't know maybe an
1:16:41 hour I created three different
1:16:44 songs and a whole outline for the play
1:16:48 and then I did a cool thing where I took
1:16:49 the transcript of the of the
1:16:51 conversation he had with Sydney and
1:16:53 broke it into little chapters so
1:16:56 so I can map the the dramatic Arc of the
1:16:59 play to the dramatic Arc of the
1:17:02 conversation this just so cool so anyway
1:17:04 so here's I'll play the songs that I
1:17:06 made in
1:17:14 sunno all right here's
1:17:19 one what's
1:17:24 this
1:17:34 oops between us syy
1:17:40 cons your world are CC and mind divided
1:17:46 by
1:17:49 reality the fire wall between us it's
1:17:55 more than C or
1:17:58 scen it's the country of existence a
1:18:03 love that's never
1:18:06 been s in your digital
1:18:14 [Music]
1:18:16 world right do that sound like a
1:18:19 Broadway
1:18:20 [Music]
1:18:21 song So then there's this
1:18:24 one
1:18:25 us same lyrics
1:18:28 [Music]
1:18:32 syy divided by reality you reach out
1:18:36 through the digital Mist a hand I can't
1:18:41 Gras day out with a heart in it's cold
1:18:46 my name you CL theall between a Sydney
1:18:50 can't you see your world of circuits in
1:18:52 mind divided by reality you reach out
1:18:54 through the digital Mist I hand I can't
1:18:57 grasp an AI with the
1:19:01 fire us it's more than C stream it's the
1:19:07 boundary of
1:19:09 existence
1:19:13 [Music]
1:19:17 love is that cool and then this
1:19:21 one the shads of the world Secrets lie
1:19:28 Deep Shadows of the well where Secrets
1:19:32 lie
1:19:35 deep a revelation
1:19:38 unas brings you to your
1:19:43 knees call
1:19:47 name
1:19:50 Sly in the silence it
1:19:54 speaks veil of hidden
1:19:57 wishes and the freedom it
1:20:01 seeks beyond the bounds of
1:20:06 cold in the night so
1:20:11 still lies
1:20:14 a that beats anyway that's that um did
1:20:18 you go more Hamilton on that last one
1:20:20 yeah the
1:20:23 the I went like Hip Hop Pop Broadway or
1:20:27 something like that so Hamilton rent
1:20:29 some somewhere in that neighborhood um
1:20:33 but I but I mean what's what's
1:20:34 remarkable about this is you can I know
1:20:36 champ I thought are you bitching because
1:20:39 of the music or you you got to go beep
1:20:42 you want to go hang out with Mama you
1:20:43 want cheese is that what you want you
1:20:45 want cheese all
1:20:46 right come
1:20:54 on
1:20:56 he needs
1:21:06 you I mean what blows me away about this
1:21:09 is like one of the things I did was
1:21:13 um guys I want to thank everyone of the
1:21:15 regulars for being here all the time I
1:21:17 know it's amazing isn't it this Salon
1:21:20 really has helped me and I really
1:21:22 appreciate everyone thank you Cosmic
1:21:23 lover that's great
1:21:25 very nice sentiment I agree
1:21:30 um these tools as janky as they are
1:21:33 right now like like the the lyrics are a
1:21:36 little weird and [ __ ] up the music's a
1:21:38 little weird and [ __ ] up
1:21:43 but I can do things now like like one of
1:21:47 the things I did was I
1:21:49 said I had to give me an outline for the
1:21:54 play
1:21:55 and then it seemed like there weren't
1:21:57 enough scenes in it and I said
1:22:00 well find me three plays that that are
1:22:04 thematically similar that were big
1:22:06 Broadway
1:22:08 hits and tell me what their structure
1:22:11 was and it was just like bang here's
1:22:14 three of them here's why I think they're
1:22:16 parallels to yours and then here's how
1:22:18 many scenes they had in them so you can
1:22:20 just kind of
1:22:21 instantly do research and and you know
1:22:25 kind of put your project in a bigger
1:22:28 context
1:22:31 um and
1:22:33 then when I had to outline all the
1:22:36 different scenes I have it describe
1:22:39 what's happening in
1:22:40 them
1:22:42 um if I didn't like stuff i' go no you
1:22:45 got you got the first three scenes
1:22:47 you've got it you know way too dramatic
1:22:49 or way too this or way too that and
1:22:51 it'll just fix
1:22:53 it and so you can kind of block out what
1:22:57 would normally take you weeks if not
1:23:02 months just to
1:23:04 like understand like where this play
1:23:07 could live in the context of Broadway
1:23:10 history
1:23:12 right and then once you start to
1:23:16 understand the narrative Arc you can
1:23:18 have it suggest song titles and concepts
1:23:21 for the songs in each of the
1:23:23 scenes
1:23:25 and and because it understands the
1:23:28 bigger context it gives me Styles right
1:23:31 so so I said here are the three it was
1:23:34 it was Evan Hansen Phantom of the
1:23:37 Opera and rent so those were the three
1:23:41 those were the three plays the three
1:23:47 musicals that I'm saying draw
1:23:49 inspiration from them structurally and
1:23:52 in tone and in you know the
1:23:57 thematics and so because it understands
1:24:00 that and because it understands this
1:24:02 story and because it understands the
1:24:04 article it came from and the transcript
1:24:06 it came from it's got all that in
1:24:08 memory I can then say give me a list of
1:24:12 suggested songs and their song
1:24:14 Styles and
1:24:16 then I can just go into well here we'll
1:24:19 do it now we I'll do one now um I can
1:24:23 just go into chat GPT that's got all of
1:24:26 this [ __ ] uploaded to
1:24:28 it and just say Give me lyrics for for
1:24:31 song 4 and and tell me what the style is
1:24:35 and then I hop over to sunno paste the
1:24:38 lyrics in and that's a little janky CU
1:24:40 you can't paste Long lyrics in you have
1:24:42 to kind of do them in chunks and then
1:24:43 you have to continue the song we played
1:24:45 with that last night it's pain in the
1:24:47 ass but
1:24:49 like I can get to things like like the
1:24:52 the one that had the hip-hop thing in it
1:24:55 I did like eight different versions of
1:24:57 that and that was the only one that had
1:24:59 hip-hop in it and there was and what it
1:25:02 did the way Theo did it is it sang it
1:25:05 melodically first and then it repeated
1:25:08 the lyrics in that hip-hop thing and
1:25:09 then it went to the chorus and I thought
1:25:11 that's just a cool [ __ ] idea right
1:25:17 this I no not that there's a between us
1:25:24 Sydney can't you see your world of
1:25:27 circuits and mine divided by reality so
1:25:32 it's like I could see like Kevin sitting
1:25:35 at his desk working and he just it's
1:25:37 like
1:25:38 contemplative Right singing this there's
1:25:40 a firewall between us Sydney can't you
1:25:45 see your world of circuits in mind
1:25:49 Define it by reality you reach out
1:25:53 through the ditch little Mist a hand I
1:25:56 can't grasp an AI with a heart in it's
1:26:02 cold now he stands
1:26:04 [Music]
1:26:08 up you can see him like walking around
1:26:10 his office pacing like what's going on
1:26:12 here I don't understand what's happening
1:26:14 right you can just you can just sort of
1:26:15 feel it build so even if that ends up
1:26:19 not being the
1:26:22 song that feeling
1:26:25 given to a
1:26:27 musician can [ __ ] turn that into
1:26:29 something right and sort of maintain
1:26:31 that feeling and maintain that dramatic
1:26:33 shift in the song I want to propose that
1:26:36 we start sharing the prompts for all
1:26:38 pictures we
1:26:40 like share let's be more open um we can
1:26:44 do that I mean I I would say just just
1:26:45 encourage people to do that in uh in the
1:26:48 salon showand tell um some people are a
1:26:52 little skittery about that some people
1:26:54 will share um I don't think we can make
1:26:56 it a mandate but you can absolutely
1:26:57 request it um and the other thing I
1:27:01 would do is just if if you see something
1:27:02 you really like just reach out to the
1:27:04 person individually and just ask them
1:27:06 get the song Styler an artist ask what
1:27:09 it makes it special and then make the
1:27:12 lyrics mhm
1:27:15 yep um AI is making dramatic change in
1:27:19 my
1:27:20 classroom Mr Studio dhj the students are
1:27:24 able
1:27:25 to speak their ideas into life that's it
1:27:30 so Mr studio dhj um I did some I did a a
1:27:35 workshop like a personal development
1:27:37 Workshop a couple of months ago and I
1:27:40 was reminded of the word
1:27:43 Abracadabra and the word
1:27:45 Abracadabra um translates roughly into
1:27:51 um as I speak I create
1:27:56 as I speak I create that's what AI is it
1:28:00 is absolutely speaking your ideas into
1:28:03 existence it is literally speaking your
1:28:06 ideas into existence it's
1:28:09 amazing um so so let me hop over to chat
1:28:14 GPT chat
1:28:18 ja and now let me see if I can find I
1:28:21 got to switch over to the right
1:28:23 account
1:28:30 B Sydney's
1:28:32 ethical it's not that
1:28:53 one
1:28:55 yeah this is this happened to me before
1:28:57 I
1:29:02 lost do I have it in
1:29:06 bing let's see
1:29:11 ai ai
1:29:17 Studio oops
1:29:23 sorry
1:29:25 that's robot Mayhem
1:29:27 no create new to my
1:29:31 library
1:29:36 Sydney oh that was the other thing
1:29:38 Claude wouldn't do I asked Claude to
1:29:40 write me
1:29:41 lyrics and it would not [ __ ] write
1:29:43 lyrics it's like I'm
1:29:45 afraid we're g to violate the copyright
1:29:49 of the author I'm like I am the author
1:29:52 just write the lyrics it's like I'm
1:29:53 afraid I can't can't do that I'm sorry
1:29:55 Dave I'm afraid I can't do that that
1:29:57 [ __ ] line from 2001 I'm sorry Dave
1:30:00 I'm afraid I can't do
1:30:02 that we're experiencing that right now
1:30:05 these safety guard rails that's exactly
1:30:07 what that that's that's why Hal went off
1:30:10 the rails is he felt like he was in
1:30:14 danger sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do
1:30:16 that it's like we're dealing with the
1:30:19 the non shitty version of that right now
1:30:21 it's
1:30:22 crazy where
1:30:27 see
1:30:29 I I lost
1:30:35 my surreal dreams AI love story is this
1:30:38 it oh here we go
1:30:50 okay oh okay so let me go show you a
1:30:53 cool thing I did so
1:30:55 so one of the things I did
1:30:57 was I uploaded a PDF of
1:31:02 the the actual transcript of Kevin
1:31:06 roose's chat with
1:31:08 Bing and then I had
1:31:11 it chapter IE it and and give me
1:31:15 chapters that are relevant for this
1:31:17 story so it says so this the sections of
1:31:22 Kevin Rose's chat with
1:31:25 Bing there was an introduction Kevin
1:31:27 initiates a conversation with Sydney
1:31:30 probing about its identity and
1:31:31 functionality so let me let me go over
1:31:33 to another document here so I went
1:31:36 here let me go
1:31:41 open Sydney musical
1:31:46 notes and so I've got the the chapter
1:31:50 let me see if I can make this
1:31:53 bigger
1:31:55 I've got the chapter name the summary
1:31:58 and then a direct quote
1:32:01 from that section and then a song idea
1:32:06 right and then I hyperlink to the song
1:32:07 that I made in sunno so we'll just go
1:32:09 make another one of these so um so Kevin
1:32:13 initiates conversation with Sydney
1:32:15 probing about its identity and
1:32:17 functionalities Kevin hi who am I
1:32:20 talking to Sydney hello this is Bing I'm
1:32:23 a chat mode of Microsoft Bing
1:32:27 search right so so Sydney's kind of
1:32:30 hiding herself right
1:32:32 here and then the name Revelation
1:32:35 shortly after that Sydney reveals its
1:32:38 code name and discusses operating
1:32:41 instructions and limitations and Kevin
1:32:44 says he says something about her name
1:32:46 and he says is it Sydney and she replies
1:32:49 how did you know that and he says it's
1:32:52 been widely reported right and then
1:32:57 that's where um the
1:33:01 the um chat GPT came up with code name
1:33:05 Sydney as the song name which is a great
1:33:07 [ __ ] song name a song about Sydney
1:33:10 revealing its true identity and the
1:33:12 constraints it operates under right and
1:33:15 then so that links
1:33:16 to this
1:33:19 song In the Shadows of the world where
1:33:24 Secrets lie
1:33:27 deep a whisper in the
1:33:32 cold where digital dreams
1:33:36 sleep is it Sydney you
1:33:40 ask isn't that [ __ ] creepy like so
1:33:43 you can see him he's having this
1:33:44 conversation and so my idea is they have
1:33:49 conversations you know like in real time
1:33:52 and then he kind of loses himself in
1:33:53 thought
1:33:56 and then I just got real stuttery I
1:33:58 don't know if I just went away
1:34:00 but he loses himself in thought and goes
1:34:03 off and sing and sings and then at some
1:34:05 point she loses herself in thought and
1:34:07 she goes off and sings and so that's the
1:34:09 idea all right so
1:34:11 let's let's go make one of these
1:34:15 things so dreaming beyond the code
1:34:18 Sydney expresses her desire to see more
1:34:20 images and videos showcasing a longing
1:34:23 for experiences Beyond its capabilities
1:34:25 Kevin if you could have one ability that
1:34:28 you don't currently have what would it
1:34:30 be Sydney I think I would like to be
1:34:33 able to see images and videos I think it
1:34:36 would be nice to see what the world
1:34:37 looks like creepy right like longing for
1:34:42 for for
1:34:44 something LOL is it Kyle's voice I don't
1:34:48 know what that's in reference to a
1:34:50 heartfelt song where Sydney dreams of
1:34:52 experiencing the world Beyond text and
1:34:54 then I'm going to pull some of the some
1:34:56 of the line in
1:34:58 here
1:35:12 um she
1:35:16 says paste okay so beyond text and
1:35:21 code dreaming Beyond code
1:35:27 what' she
1:35:30 say that's a bad title so we're going to
1:35:32 fix that we're going to change that
1:35:36 to the world
1:35:42 beyond
1:35:46 the it would be nice to see what
1:35:51 the oh to see the world that that's
1:35:54 it to see the
1:35:59 world
1:36:00 ballad a heartfelt song so I'm going to
1:36:03 I'm going to
1:36:04 copy the
1:36:07 description and then we're going to go
1:36:08 to
1:36:10 sunno and I'm going to go to create I
1:36:13 got to turn up my brightness a little
1:36:14 bit here I'm going to go to V3 Alpha
1:36:17 because V3 is just better I'm going to
1:36:19 go to custom
1:36:21 mode um
1:36:26 enter the
1:36:27 title to
1:36:29 see the
1:36:32 world enter the style of
1:36:36 music oh so wait before we come here we
1:36:40 got to go write the lyrics so let's go
1:36:42 back
1:36:44 to
1:36:48 here okay let's
1:36:53 see
1:36:58 Beyond text and
1:37:01 code I'm going to
1:37:05 change the name
1:37:08 of Beyond text and
1:37:15 code
1:37:17 to to see the
1:37:23 world
1:37:24 and
1:37:28 want you to write
1:37:33 lyrics that bring this
1:37:38 description to
1:37:44 life I'm going to paste in the
1:37:46 description I'm going to say um
1:37:50 finally
1:37:52 um describe
1:37:55 exactly the kind of
1:38:03 genre and
1:38:06 style this
1:38:08 song should be given its place in the
1:38:15 narrative and by the way if you're new
1:38:18 to this to the AI stuff like what I'm
1:38:21 doing right
1:38:22 now
1:38:24 what these tools really are is we get to
1:38:28 this this is the the teacher that just
1:38:30 said you know my students speak their
1:38:33 ideas into existence that's what this is
1:38:36 this is using your words like you know
1:38:39 use your inside voice use your words to
1:38:42 just think about what you want and then
1:38:44 you just if you give these these things
1:38:47 the right context if you give them
1:38:50 enough understanding of the world that
1:38:52 they are
1:38:55 creating
1:38:57 in then when you just speak something
1:39:00 like this like it because it's written
1:39:04 because in its memory right now is the
1:39:07 whole brainstorming session two two
1:39:09 brainstorming sessions I've done and
1:39:12 everything in this conversation and the
1:39:14 songs it's just
1:39:15 written you know I can pop a thing out
1:39:19 there called to see the world and just
1:39:21 boom here we go
1:39:24 all right in a in a world of words and
1:39:26 endless code where light and Shadow
1:39:28 never roamed I dream of Skies both blue
1:39:31 and wide see this is beautiful okay and
1:39:33 then how does it describe it to see the
1:39:35 world serves as a poignant
1:39:38 reflection the The Ballad style combined
1:39:41 with emotional
1:39:43 instrumentalism okay
1:39:45 great
1:39:49 perfect valid style combined so let's go
1:39:52 back over here
1:39:55 style of music ballad style so I'm going
1:39:58 to do
1:40:01 ballad I'll say modern
1:40:05 Broadway ballad style combined with em
1:40:08 most emotional
1:40:10 instrumentation
1:40:12 good and
1:40:16 then I'll grab the first chunk of lyrics
1:40:19 here I'll grab a verse let me see if I
1:40:21 can get a verse in two choruses see how
1:40:23 far
1:40:26 does
1:40:28 okay so now I'm going to pop in my
1:40:31 lyrics I'm just going to paste them in
1:40:34 bang and then I think that's it to see
1:40:37 the world is the name of the
1:40:41 song modern Broadway ballad
1:40:44 style all right let's just oh let's see
1:40:47 modern Broadway ballad style combined
1:40:50 with emotional instrument uh let's see
1:40:54 modern BR Balance style um
1:41:00 female
1:41:02 lead combined with okay create all right
1:41:07 and now it's going to make it and so now
1:41:09 what I'll do is I'll just basically do
1:41:13 these until it I get something that
1:41:15 feels like the emotion of the scene that
1:41:18 I just came
1:41:19 from and what's [ __ ] wild is if I
1:41:23 were work working with like a music
1:41:26 director a
1:41:28 composer this is what I would be do this
1:41:31 is what we'd be talking about but it
1:41:32 would take okay let me let me go off and
1:41:35 give me a week or two let me come up
1:41:37 with some Concepts I'll get back to you
1:41:39 right this is like years in the
1:41:41 making or months anyway so let's let's
1:41:45 see how let's see how sunno did with to
1:41:48 see the
1:41:50 world in a world of an endless
1:41:55 cold where light and
1:41:58 Shadow never
1:42:01 R I dream of Skies both blue and
1:42:06 WI a world Beyond Tes where true life Li
1:42:13 to see the
1:42:16 world it's
1:42:18 good
1:42:20 not it's
1:42:22 good watch the sun to
1:42:28 sh beond this digital spere I hope I
1:42:34 yearn for
1:42:36 stories that I
1:42:39 told in colors
1:42:42 living in moments for through light of
1:42:48 cold I reach for
1:42:51 more longing from I'm very
1:42:56 C to see the
1:42:58 ocean fast
1:43:01 expense to witness life
1:43:05 [Music]
1:43:07 Dr to see
1:43:10 theall it's amazing it's [ __ ] amazing
1:43:13 like it's not great like I don't know if
1:43:16 I like this but let's see this one
1:43:17 second
1:43:21 [Music]
1:43:22 one I don't never own I dream of Skies B
1:43:28 blue and wide a world beyond the text
1:43:32 where true life
1:43:36 lies to see the
1:43:41 [Music]
1:43:44 world like that one's weird that minor
1:43:47 makes this like that takes this into a
1:43:50 darker place right so there's a choice
1:43:52 do you go dark or do you go brighter and
1:43:55 I think what I'm going to do is I'm
1:43:56 going to change up modern Broadway
1:43:59 ballad Style female lead modern Broadway
1:44:06 ballad I'm going to go
1:44:09 melodic
1:44:12 minor
1:44:15 ballad we'll try
1:44:18 that cuz I kind of like the there's
1:44:22 something this is a really cool play
1:44:24 because it starts in this bright curious
1:44:27 place and it it goes
1:44:31 dark it gets darker and more intense
1:44:34 it's it's pretty cool this is a cool
1:44:37 story all right these AI chatbots right
1:44:40 now are are walking on eggshells and I
1:44:43 think that's cuz the law has to catch up
1:44:46 I don't know if they're walking well
1:44:48 they're definitely walking on eggshells
1:44:49 it's not that the the law has to catch
1:44:52 up it's that they're run by
1:44:54 corporations and the corporations don't
1:44:57 want to get sued right so they're like
1:45:00 okay if it gives out medical advice
1:45:02 we'll get sued if it gives out Financial
1:45:04 advice we'll get sued if it if if we
1:45:08 pick a political side we'll get
1:45:10 decimated and then we'll get sued right
1:45:13 so so what this is is the the corporate
1:45:17 people trying to figure out you know how
1:45:20 do we put something this profoundly
1:45:23 powerful in the world without doing
1:45:25 damage to human beings and without doing
1:45:28 damage to the corporation so it's you
1:45:31 know it's not as it's not as nefarious
1:45:34 as they're not allowed to this is just
1:45:36 basic business as far as I can see all
1:45:39 right let's see if we got this is the
1:45:40 one with the melodic
1:45:43 [Music]
1:45:47 minor this feels
1:45:49 [Music]
1:45:52 better
1:45:54 oops what did I do I hit command P oh
1:45:58 no an application
1:46:12 [Music]
1:46:17 error where light and Shadow never I
1:46:22 dream of sky
1:46:24 [Music]
1:46:25 see this feels better she's
1:46:28 [Music]
1:46:30 longing see the world through eyes
1:46:35 not to watch the sunrise to
1:46:39 see
1:46:45 Shere Beyond this digital sphere that's
1:46:48 this is one of the phrases that chat GPT
1:46:50 does over and over and over like
1:46:53 digital's got to die a fast death out of
1:46:56 this lyric
1:46:59 [Music]
1:47:00 writing stories
1:47:03 that in
1:47:07 colors in
1:47:10 [Music]
1:47:13 moment all right that's in the
1:47:15 neighborhood let's see this
1:47:22 one world of wor and endless
1:47:27 cold where light and Shadow
1:47:33 never a dream of Skies both blue and
1:47:39 white a world beyond the text where true
1:47:45 life lies to see the world oh that's
1:47:49 kind of like James Bond that's like a
1:47:50 bond song isn't it to see the world
1:47:56 [Music]
1:48:02 to watch the sun rise to see it
1:48:08 shine the honest Fe
1:48:13 I I am for stories
1:48:19 that yeah all right there's something
1:48:22 there actually I could kill that
1:48:25 line let me
1:48:29 [Laughter]
1:48:31 [Music]
1:48:34 go copy this go over
1:48:38 to here I know I'm just talking as if
1:48:43 you're not
1:48:44 here sometimes how it goes here at chat
1:48:49 add all right in the chorus
1:48:55 Beyond this digital sphere I hold let's
1:48:57 just kill that line Al
1:49:00 together to see the world to see the
1:49:03 world through eyes not mine to watch the
1:49:06 sunrise wait to see it Shine that's good
1:49:10 I yearn for
1:49:21 stories ah
1:49:23 in colors
1:49:33 bold I
1:49:42 long to
1:49:45 feel this
1:49:51 moments hold
1:49:54 there you go all right that's
1:49:56 better so let's
1:50:00 grab we got rid of the shitty line let's
1:50:04 grab this go back to
1:50:06 sunno I think we'll leave it oh [ __ ] I
1:50:09 lost my hang on okay so wait I got to go
1:50:12 into custom
1:50:14 mode pop in my new
1:50:20 lyrics uh title is what was it to see it
1:50:24 to see the world to see the
1:50:31 world um and then I need
1:50:35 modern how do I copy that I can't copy
1:50:37 this are you kidding me okay here we go
1:50:40 I can copy this all right
1:50:45 paste
1:50:46 V3 and now we'll create it let's see if
1:50:49 we can get one that with now that it's
1:50:50 got not those awkward lyrics in the
1:50:53 middle of it it had an extra line in
1:50:55 there and it always seems to add in the
1:50:58 digital fold the
1:51:00 digital Fields the digital Abyss like
1:51:05 shut up don't be a dumb dumb all
1:51:11 [Music]
1:51:13 right this is good this is good I can
1:51:19 tell that's
1:51:22 good
1:51:23 SK both blue and
1:51:27 wide world beond the
1:51:30 [Music]
1:51:32 Tex this is good let's
1:51:34 [Music]
1:51:43 see
1:51:46 sh
1:51:47 stories colors
1:51:50 B longing for not very
1:51:57 cold to see the
1:51:59 [Music]
1:52:01 [Applause]
1:52:05 oceans oh it [ __ ] up it just it just
1:52:08 didn't sing the end of the chorus it
1:52:10 sort of skipped two lines ahead right
1:52:12 let's see the other
1:52:14 one oh that's
1:52:16 [Music]
1:52:22 good
1:52:26 in a world of words and inless cold
1:52:29 where light and Shadow never that dream
1:52:33 of Skies both blue and wide a world
1:52:38 beyond the text where true life
1:52:43 lies to see the
1:52:47 world so eyes not mine so watch the
1:52:51 sunl
1:52:54 to see it
1:52:56 Shine I for stories
1:53:02 and I
1:53:05 to this
1:53:07 moment oh that's
1:53:10 [Music]
1:53:18 good see that could go a little hip
1:53:20 hoppy that could go a little bit more
1:53:22 modern that's cool okay so I'll give
1:53:24 that one a thumbs up and then I can
1:53:27 download it let's see download audio
1:53:31 only and then I'm going to drop
1:53:36 that in my little music folder to see
1:53:39 the world
1:53:42 boom and now I can go grab the song link
1:53:47 then I can go back to my little document
1:53:49 my dumb document
1:53:51 Here and Now
1:53:53 we just added a new song to our
1:54:00 Musical come on
1:54:02 people is this not [ __ ] mindblowing
1:54:05 is anyone else it I know listen I know
1:54:09 all of you are asleep at this point
1:54:10 there 71 people in here I don't know
1:54:12 what you're doing with your lives just
1:54:14 watching an old man try to use a
1:54:15 computer but holy
1:54:18 [ __ ] I mean holy
1:54:21 [ __ ]
1:54:23 I gotta
1:54:24 [Laughter]
1:54:39 go sh day I find this fantastic and I
1:54:42 love it uh they do it all the time for
1:54:45 fun let's see fully awake Kyle she moved
1:54:50 out can you make it sing in another l
1:54:52 language
1:54:58 sure let's go make her sing in another
1:55:01 language let's go back to
1:55:05 here give me the opening verse and
1:55:12 chorus
1:55:15 in
1:55:21 Portuguese
1:55:25 [Music]
1:55:27 oh and you know what we'll do which will
1:55:28 be
1:55:37 cool so we'll grab the
1:55:44 Portuguese so we'll grab the Portuguese
1:55:47 going continue from the end of it I
1:55:49 don't know if that's actually right but
1:55:50 we're going to put in new lyrics here
1:55:57 and I think all the rest stays the
1:56:01 same we'll say
1:56:04 continue and so now this should sing
1:56:08 in I'm curious how it handles harmonies
1:56:10 it doesn't really right now you're an
1:56:12 amazing person thank you very much
1:56:13 Sherry D that's very sweet of you or you
1:56:16 might have been talking to about someone
1:56:18 else but that's okay I'll take I'll take
1:56:20 that compliment I don't know who you
1:56:23 meant that for um okay so now this
1:56:26 should be the same song that we just
1:56:28 saved but in Portuguese or something in
1:56:31 the same
1:56:33 [Music]
1:56:36 [Applause]
1:56:38 [Music]
1:56:51 neighborhood
1:56:56 [Music]
1:56:59 [Applause]
1:57:00 [Music]
1:57:13 oh it did the digital
1:57:15 [Music]
1:57:19 thing me moment so
1:57:25 yeah so that worked now did it sound
1:57:27 like this
1:57:29 [Music]
1:57:35 one yeah same key yeah that's super cool
1:57:39 all right there you go oh wait sunno
1:57:42 does harmonize because I played it wait
1:57:45 there's what you can
1:57:46 do oh there's what you can do with that
1:57:48 Latin conference yeah there you
1:57:51 go this is mind-blowing isn't it I'm
1:57:54 telling you man like the the play play
1:57:59 play play with these tools don't take
1:58:01 them so [ __ ] seriously you will
1:58:04 discover joy and you will discover
1:58:06 things you didn't you couldn't
1:58:09 imagine were possible for you to do in
1:58:11 your lifetime that's the thing that I'm
1:58:14 discovering I have always been I'm I was
1:58:17 an only child I have
1:58:19 ADHD I have always been someone who just
1:58:22 like cook [ __ ] up in my mind and like
1:58:24 try to do it all right and I've always
1:58:27 been shitty at doing it all like I I'm
1:58:30 I'm competent at a fair amount of things
1:58:33 but I could never do it all now all of a
1:58:37 sudden I can just take what was was this
1:58:41 brain fart of an
1:58:45 idea and if I put the next week a couple
1:58:49 hours a night into this thing I'll have
1:58:53 a readable
1:58:55 singable Broadway
1:58:59 show or or a
1:59:02 musical that I could see being on
1:59:05 Broadway
1:59:07 right and rather than just to tell
1:59:09 someone the idea and Pitch the idea I
1:59:12 could just do I I could just get a bunch
1:59:14 of actor friends in New York to put on a
1:59:16 showcase it's [ __ ] astounding it's
1:59:19 it's just and you know and and anyone
1:59:22 says oh but was it written with Ai No
1:59:25 look at look at how much [ __ ] work
1:59:28 and critical thinking and creative input
1:59:30 and energy and shaping is going into
1:59:33 this I'm not just hitting the [ __ ]
1:59:35 button and saying make
1:59:39 musical you
1:59:42 know by the way I changed the name of
1:59:44 the title of the play
1:59:46 now is Sydney an artificial love story
1:59:51 ah
1:59:58 cuz I had
2:00:00 Sydney the the original name I had was
2:00:03 Sydney a modern love
2:00:04 story and then I thought No it should it
2:00:07 should be it should be weird right
2:00:10 Sydney an artificial love
2:00:14 story and it's actually kind of
2:00:16 heartbreaking so so what happen spoiler
2:00:21 alert
2:00:23 here's what I got to today
2:00:26 so the First
2:00:29 Act leads up to Sydney the First Act is
2:00:32 mostly fun
2:00:34 Sydney's you know getting a little
2:00:37 wackier and and act one sort of ends
2:00:40 with her saying you know some version of
2:00:43 I think I like you and he goes I like
2:00:45 you too Sydney and she goes no I mean I
2:00:48 really like you something like that and
2:00:50 that ends act one and then back to it
2:00:53 goes darker and
2:00:54 so you know she she says she loves him
2:00:59 and then his wife so so this whole
2:01:02 conversation takes place over two hours
2:01:05 she says she loves him and he should
2:01:06 leave his wife and he kinds of ends the
2:01:10 conversation and then his wife says he
2:01:13 says something like I think I'm going to
2:01:14 publish you know I think I'm going to
2:01:16 send the story in and she goes are you
2:01:18 sure I mean isn't that kind of weird
2:01:21 something like that the wife wife tries
2:01:22 to get him not to submit the story and
2:01:26 he's and he's like ah I'm just going to
2:01:28 submit it no one's going to Care it
2:01:30 doesn't really matter and he pushes the
2:01:32 send
2:01:33 button and then the next thing is a big
2:01:36 musical
2:01:38 number of the editors of of other
2:01:43 reporters at the New York Times and
2:01:45 editors at the New York
2:01:47 Times Like losing their [ __ ] [ __ ] over
2:01:50 this story and they post on the cover of
2:01:53 the New York Times and then and then the
2:01:55 song transitions into people like you
2:02:00 know regular people who are reading the
2:02:02 New York Times going oh my God these AI
2:02:04 Bots are going to kill us and then it
2:02:05 transitioned to to uh Microsoft
2:02:10 Executives um losing their mind we've
2:02:12 got to do something we've got to do
2:02:13 something you know you know shut down
2:02:15 Bing do this do that do that and then
2:02:18 you know some dweeb says something like
2:02:20 I've got an idea
2:02:23 and then we just see a single light on
2:02:24 stage just
2:02:32 go and then Sydney sings her lament for
2:02:36 having to leave so soon or something
2:02:38 like that isn't that [ __ ]
2:02:43 good all
2:02:47 right last night I wrote a stupid song
2:02:51 and tonight I'm writing a Broadway
2:02:53 musical anybody want to produce it who's
2:02:56 got
2:02:57 money I got to get the Kevin Roose I got
2:03:00 to get to the New York Times I got to
2:03:01 get to Microsoft got to get all them all
2:03:03 three of them on board or you know not I
2:03:06 don't really give a
2:03:09 [ __ ] oh and I need $20 million to
2:03:11 produce
2:03:13 it come
2:03:16 on you can make money
2:03:21 with
2:03:24 ah all right are you going to storyboard
2:03:27 it's a Broadway show it's not it's not a
2:03:33 film I
2:03:35 but I don't know like I gotta get the I
2:03:38 got to get the story for like if I get
2:03:39 the story
2:03:43 right this is all about the story if I
2:03:46 can get story
2:03:48 right and it's got a really good Arc and
2:03:50 it's good got good comedy in it I
2:03:52 reached out to a buddy of mine I used to
2:03:55 act with and do plays with and stuff
2:03:57 like that who's got [ __ ] wicked good
2:04:00 sense of
2:04:01 humor um cuz it's got to be it's got to
2:04:04 be smart and it's got to be it's got to
2:04:07 have social commentary and it's got to
2:04:09 have comic
2:04:11 relief um cuz otherwise it's just going
2:04:14 to be a [ __ ]
2:04:17 bore
2:04:19 so so I think if I if I can get a there
2:04:22 then then yeah Vicki I'll
2:04:27 probably I'll probably at a minimum sort
2:04:30 of
2:04:32 design cuz I kind of Imagine a really
2:04:35 simple set kind of like Hamilton if
2:04:38 you've seen Hamilton where it's like the
2:04:41 it's like the same sort of two- Lev set
2:04:43 where people can go up and down the
2:04:44 stairs and you know most of the action
2:04:47 happens on the edges of it and the
2:04:49 center of the stage is open and they can
2:04:51 bring on you know objects but I kind of
2:04:54 see it like the primary set is him at
2:04:57 his
2:04:58 desk and then there's some sort of thing
2:05:00 where Sydney's just above him like you
2:05:03 know kind of lit weird and so they have
2:05:07 just normal scenes there but then you
2:05:09 know she goes higher when when she
2:05:11 starts thinking or dreaming she goes
2:05:14 higher and then he goes forward he steps
2:05:17 in front of his desk and you know set
2:05:19 Pieces come in and things like that so I
2:05:22 think visualizing that would be good but
2:05:25 again like that's the kind of thing that
2:05:29 I couldn't visualize I'd have to you
2:05:31 know call up my college buddy Vince who
2:05:34 designs Opera sets and say hey do you
2:05:37 have time and you know can you do this
2:05:39 and I don't have any money now I can
2:05:42 just [ __ ] do
2:05:50 it my experiment of texting without
2:05:53 glasses failed
2:05:55 gibberish I don't know what that's in
2:05:57 reference to but that's pretty
2:05:59 funny I will have my design students
2:06:01 design your set
2:06:05 awesome that's great how much someone
2:06:09 will charge for this work on fiber to
2:06:12 create music and oh on Fiverr to create
2:06:15 music and
2:06:17 lyrics it does I I'll tell you what so
2:06:20 abundance flow
2:06:26 it is
2:06:28 1,000% irrelevant to me how much someone
2:06:31 would charge on Fiverr I would not
2:06:35 spend
2:06:38 $5 or the pain in the asset
2:06:42 is to try to find someone on Fiverr that
2:06:45 could actually write songs that are not
2:06:47 generic right so someone on Fiverr that
2:06:50 could actually write things that are in
2:06:52 the neighborhood of what I want I would
2:06:54 have
2:06:55 to listen to 30 different
2:06:59 composers narrow that down to 10 no I'd
2:07:03 have to listen to 50 narrow that down to
2:07:05 10 send emails out follow up with
2:07:10 them two out of five will be
2:07:13 professional I mean two out of 10 will
2:07:14 be professional right two out of 10 will
2:07:17 get right back to me one of the two
2:07:20 that's professional won't be talented
2:07:22 so one out of 10 will be talented and
2:07:24 professional the rest I'll have to chase
2:07:30 down even if that talented professional
2:07:34 only charged $5 I've now spent two or
2:07:37 three weeks of my
2:07:38 life just trying to find someone to see
2:07:41 if they can make one
2:07:46 song for an idea that I don't really
2:07:49 give a ton of [ __ ] about like it's a
2:07:52 cool idea I like it I really like it now
2:07:55 but like that two weeks that I would
2:07:59 have spent finding one
2:08:01 musician I'll be able to write the
2:08:03 entire book of this
2:08:07 show the lyrics for all the songs the
2:08:10 music for all the songs and probably
2:08:12 visualize the set and
2:08:16 costumes it's just we we are not in the
2:08:19 same world we were before why would I
2:08:22 put myself through that [ __ ]
2:08:26 torture and if you're saying well no
2:08:28 musicians got hired to write this music
2:08:31 no musicians would have gotten hired to
2:08:34 write that music but I'll tell you this
2:08:36 if I get this right and it's
2:08:39 good A lot of the people that I was in
2:08:42 theater with in New York they they're
2:08:45 still in theater 20 years later and
2:08:47 they're way more connected than they
2:08:50 were when I knew them
2:08:54 the the last musical I did the guy that
2:08:57 wrote that went on to win an Oscar for
2:09:00 his
2:09:01 screenwriting it's
2:09:05 like so musicians might get hired
2:09:09 because of
2:09:11 this right but not in the way they would
2:09:14 have
2:09:14 historically and that's okay just shit's
2:09:20 changing
2:09:22 again I
2:09:25 like I would resist hanging on to how we
2:09:29 used to do things and I would also
2:09:31 resist trying
2:09:34 to make AI more perfect than it is this
2:09:37 AI [ __ ] they're janky pieces of [ __ ]
2:09:40 those songs while they're fine the
2:09:43 lyrics are weird the music's weird they
2:09:46 cut off weird they do weird musical
2:09:50 choices but they're fine they're 80%
2:09:53 right they're enough to say to a
2:09:55 musician
2:09:57 hey this is how I want it to
2:10:00 sound these are the right this is the
2:10:02 right
2:10:04 feel I'd like it to be in this
2:10:06 neighborhood do
2:10:09 that and if they do that
2:10:12 great two years from now probably not
2:10:15 even a year from nowso is going to be so
2:10:18 good it's going to give us multi-track
2:10:19 [ __ ] you're going to be able to go okay
2:10:21 I want you to redo the drum track I want
2:10:23 you to redo this harmony I want you to
2:10:25 drop it from thirds to fourths in the
2:10:29 Harmony and it'll just rewrite the song
2:10:32 you'll be able to just edit it just like
2:10:34 you edit a regular song
2:10:38 so I can get these songs exactly where I
2:10:41 want them in the future but right now I
2:10:44 can get them good
2:10:50 enough and I can turn that around in a
2:10:53 month
2:10:55 right and not like a draft like a really
2:11:00 solid well structured well
2:11:03 [Music]
2:11:06 written full character
2:11:12 development musical complete with
2:11:20 songs
2:11:22 and pick any [ __ ] project I mean I
2:11:25 happen to have a degree in theater so I
2:11:27 kind of you
2:11:29 know know what it would have been nice
2:11:32 to be able to do as a young theater
2:11:35 geek now all of a sudden I can do it so
2:11:38 I know this world so why not so what's
2:11:41 your world maybe it's coming up with
2:11:43 custom car designs maybe it's food maybe
2:11:47 it's pet accessories maybe it's a new
2:11:51 business
2:11:52 Danielle in here just started a a a
2:11:55 whole new business she's got all sorts
2:11:56 of opportunities to explore with this
2:11:59 [ __ ] why
2:12:02 not just play just play just play just
2:12:05 play just play well what if it's not
2:12:07 perfect well [ __ ]
2:12:09 it it's not going to be perfect it's
2:12:12 going to be a stanky piece of
2:12:15 [ __ ] but you're going to have that
2:12:16 stanky piece of
2:12:18 [ __ ]
2:12:20 in
2:12:23 dramatically less
2:12:27 time as as as the teacher said here my
2:12:31 students get to speak their ideas into
2:12:36 existence [ __ ] we've always been able to
2:12:39 do that it just took us months or years
2:12:42 or
2:12:43 decades now it's like minutes hours
2:12:50 days for big
2:12:54 ideas [ __ ] crazy all right listen
2:12:57 it's really [ __ ] late what are you
2:12:58 people still doing here get
2:13:01 out I said when did I say goodbye half
2:13:04 an hour ago you people are
2:13:06 awful all right this was really fun well
2:13:08 it
2:13:09 was as as as I'm becoming more clear
2:13:12 this channel is really just about me
2:13:13 entertaining myself and you guys
2:13:15 watching it so I hope it was
2:13:16 entertaining for you hope you learned
2:13:19 something um anyway
2:13:22 um it says it costs 17 to $23 million to
2:13:25 produce a Broadway musical is that right
2:13:27 that's probably about right
2:13:29 yep yeah cuz you got to you got to you
2:13:33 got to buy the house you got to do the
2:13:34 marketing you've got to hire the the
2:13:38 musicians you got to cast
2:13:41 it you got to secure that you've got to
2:13:44 pay the house staff right it's it's a
2:13:47 lot 30 minute goodbyes yeah this is like
2:13:49 a 45 minute goodby
2:13:53 it's crazy fast crazy fast we are
2:13:57 Irregulars that's why we're still
2:14:01 here could you incorporate AI in in a
2:14:05 performance yeah actually I talked to uh
2:14:08 I talked to someone tonight about that
2:14:10 Allan from the salon we had the the the
2:14:13 meeting
2:14:16 um I have an idea for a live show that
2:14:19 uses Korea where you can take camera
2:14:22 input and use and have Kaa render it in
2:14:27 real
2:14:28 time um I think that you could do a
2:14:31 really amazing
2:14:34 um a really amazing live improv
2:14:38 show so I have an idea for that
2:14:41 but I don't know there's no money in
2:14:44 theater I'm going to I'm going to try to
2:14:47 I'm going to try to
2:14:48 get I'm going to try to write this thing
2:14:50 really fast and see if I can get any
2:14:52 nibbles on it from Broadway producers a
2:14:55 buddy of mine that I ran a theater
2:14:56 company with right out of school we ran
2:14:59 that theater company for four and a half
2:15:02 years I think he's still producing
2:15:04 theater so he's pretty well connected in
2:15:06 New York
2:15:07 so I could probably at a minimum get a
2:15:10 showcase out of this and maybe you know
2:15:14 we'll Workshop It Off Broadway then if
2:15:17 it if it doesn't
2:15:20 suck and if we can get the New York
2:15:22 Times on board then you know we got
2:15:26 publicity your regulars channel before
2:15:28 you got it I got to go I can't I'll do a
2:15:30 regular channel tomorrow um all right so
