1:15 that we had was sweet was Midori
1:17 and uh a Melon liqueur and so that's the

2:28 um tried chat GPT it's really confusing
2:31 right now because so many people are
2:32 putting out apps that are called chat
2:34 EPT to confuse you and steal your money
2:36 that's the thing
2:38 um I heard today I mean I heard just
2:40 before I came on that open AI just
2:43 announced that they are going to roll
2:45 out web access and plugins in they're
2:50 moving from alpha to Beta
2:52 for web access and plugins for all chat
2:56 GPT plus users so if you pay the 20
2:59 bucks a month you get access to gpt4 but
3:02 apparently like next week they're going
3:04 to roll out access to web access so so
3:06 the thing people [ __ ] about with chat
3:09 CPT not being connected to the internet
3:10 they can't [ __ ] anymore and it's going
3:14 to have all these plugins I think
3:15 there's like 71 or 72 approved plug-ins
3:17 already so think like the App Store
3:20 um but for chat GPT where you know you
3:23 can have it book you tables using open
3:25 tail table or deliver you groceries or
3:28 do math for your homework assignment or
3:32 come up with drink ideas cheers
3:37 all right I'm gonna see if there's any

4:05 I am a Storyteller by training I have a
4:07 degree in acting moved to New York City
4:09 out of school
4:10 started and ran a theater company for
4:12 four and a half years
4:14 um wrote seven screenplays after that in
4:16 a one-man show started a fake talent
4:19 agency because we didn't have agents so
4:22 we became our own agents and came up
4:24 with fake names and
4:26 we got good enough at that we had to
4:28 take on real clients because it was
4:29 weird we were just sending out the same
4:30 two writers
4:32 um what else
4:34 uh in the mid 90s I started one of the
4:36 first digital magazines online magazines
4:39 uh an art and culture magazine called
4:41 Urban desires and then
4:43 um right around that time also
4:44 co-founded agency.com which was one of
4:47 the first digital agencies and I was
4:49 Chief creative officer there and grew
4:52 that really big really fast and ended up
4:54 selling that to Omnicom and I am now a
4:58 founder and CEO of a company called
5:00 storyvine we just turned 11 we're 11
5:02 years old and it's an automated video
5:05 storytelling platform and I've spent the
5:08 past four or five months figuring out a
5:10 figuring out what all this generative AI
5:12 stuff was and then rolling it into the
5:14 platform and for the past three weeks or
5:17 so I've been presenting this new
5:19 um expanded vision of what storyvine is
5:23 and it's going very very well
5:25 don't drink in GPT why
5:29 pinkies out you know why we have pinkies
5:31 out right because we're classy
5:35 all right
5:36 if we don't know where AI or AGI is
5:39 going how are we going to educate our
5:41 kids
5:41 kids will be fine
5:44 the kid the kids are going to be fine
5:46 they're going to grow up it's gonna be
5:47 like you know anyone on this who's old
5:49 enough to grow up a little bit of their
5:50 life without the internet and then a
5:52 little bit of their life with it it's
5:54 going to be like that for them with AI
5:57 I mean what I would teach your kids
5:59 right now is critical thinking and
6:02 um curation and discernment you know
6:05 teach them how to have a point of view
6:07 how to have an opinion
6:09 um because all of the Tactical
6:13 things that we do today that we call
6:15 work I think are going to get automated
6:17 out and what's going to be left is kind
6:19 of the higher level critical thinking
6:20 and curation and refinement and strategy
6:23 and you know so the kids are going to be
6:26 fine are you are you getting educated on
6:29 AI and AGI
6:32 um answer before the drinks kick in yeah
6:34 that's a good point all right
6:36 um I teach writing at Community College
6:38 how can I prevent chat GPT from writing
6:40 papers for my students okay couple of
6:42 things
6:43 chat GPT is not writing papers for your
6:46 students your students are using a tool
6:49 called chat GPT to write papers now if
6:52 they're just saying write a paper on
6:54 this and then handing it in without
6:55 doing anything with it that's stupid and
6:57 shitty but you're not going to prevent
6:58 it
6:59 so I wouldn't think in terms of how do
7:01 you prevent that stuff what I would
7:03 think of as
7:04 um well let's put it this way
7:07 chat GPT in large language models in
7:09 General within a year are going to be in
7:12 every piece of software that exists
7:14 they're going to be in Microsoft Word
7:15 they're going to be in Google Docs
7:18 they're going to be in Google
7:19 spreadsheets they're going to be in
7:20 Excel they're going to be in PowerPoint
7:22 they're going to be in no Guardian
7:24 notion they're going to be in every
7:25 writing tool they're probably going to
7:26 be in every screenwriting Tool The
7:28 Writer's Guild right now is striking
7:30 because they don't want Studios to use
7:32 chat GPT this is the wrong battle to
7:34 fight
7:36 why would you remove
7:38 the most powerful writing tool in the
7:41 history of mankind
7:43 from students
7:46 why we're moving into a world where
7:48 that's going to be a ubiquitous tool
7:50 across the thing so if you then say well
7:53 it's too easy to write papers maybe
7:54 writing papers isn't the skill that they
7:57 need moving forward what they probably
7:59 need is things like critical thinking
8:01 skills and problem solving and the
8:03 ability to analyze is the paper that
8:06 came out of chat EPT a piece of [ __ ] or
8:08 not so maybe what you do is bring chat
8:10 GPT into the classroom have it write a
8:13 paper and then in the classroom analyze
8:17 what it got right what it got wrong
8:19 what's good about it what's bad about it
8:20 what they would do different about it
8:23 change how you teach these tools are
8:25 here to stay don't fight them it's I
8:27 mean it's it's like it's the equivalent
8:29 a joke that I've been I've been kicking
8:31 around a little lately is um Florida
8:34 just announced they're no longer
8:35 accepting hurricanes
8:37 okay
8:38 it's a noble cause but they're gonna
8:41 keep coming
8:42 so these tools same thing all right
8:47 ask questions away you can subscribe to

9:24 other than to say I am tired of our
9:26 current political discourse and I would
9:28 like for us not to be [ __ ] to each
9:30 other anymore that is my political

9:35 is attention all you need oh that is a
9:38 clever prompt that it cheers that
9:41 deserves a sip of the Three Mile Island
9:46 cause I'm classy
9:48 um so attention is all you need is a
9:50 paper written by Google
9:52 in 2017
9:54 that introduced this thing called the
9:56 Transformer and the Transformer is is
9:58 the piece of technology that all of the
10:01 toys that we're playing with right now
10:02 are built on
10:03 I mean they're built on lots of other
10:05 things like neural networks and machine
10:07 learning algorithms and things like that
10:09 but the transformer in particular that
10:11 paper attention is all you need
10:14 um
10:15 is the thing that let these machine
10:16 learning models be trained on massive
10:18 data sets and this was one of the
10:20 discoveries that openai made they're the
10:21 people that wrote chat GPT that's the
10:23 address right there
10:25 what they learned to their surprise was
10:28 that the bigger the data set you threw
10:31 at these things the better they got and
10:33 so that's why they switched from well
10:36 this was Sam Altman claims but I
10:38 actually kind of believe it
10:40 they realized that that in order to get
10:42 these models to be really good they had
10:44 to train them on massive data sets and
10:46 in order to do that they needed to erase
10:48 a lot of money
10:49 and so that's why Sam Altman switched
10:51 open AI from a open source non-profit to
10:55 a what he's calling capped for-profit
10:57 meaning it's a for-profit company but
10:59 the investors can only make I think it's
11:01 100x or whatever they can't make a
11:03 thousand X so he can limit the profit he
11:05 can also boot investors there's a couple
11:07 of things in there but um
11:10 but but this is why Microsoft invested a
11:13 billion and then 10 billion and I think
11:14 a lot of their investment was in compute
11:17 time and hosting and things like that
11:20 um so so anyway yeah attention
11:22 apparently is all you need because all
11:25 of this is happening because of
11:27 a two-week software project called chat
11:29 GPT
11:32 I hear that's all live for people
11:35 that have plus already really
11:38 hold

23:08 platform we do a lot of work in
23:09 healthcare and Pharma and uh what I've
23:12 done is I spent the past four months
23:14 figuring out how the hell I can
23:16 take this AI stuff that is so magical
23:20 and weird and wild and not just flush my
23:24 company of a decade down the toilet and
23:26 replace it with AI but how can I take
23:28 the trust and approach and wisdom that
23:33 we've built over a decade and sort of
23:35 roll AI into it like this and so I now
23:37 have a vision for this massive Omni
23:39 Channel content engine that I'm
23:41 incredibly excited about
23:42 and every time I tell someone about it
23:44 they get really excited about it so I
23:46 think I'm on to something here
23:48 uh the cost is listed in the particular
23:50 subscription site uh I don't know what
23:53 that's about
23:55 is attention all you need in an AGI
23:59 well so attention is all you need is
24:02 just a paper that introduced the
24:04 Transformer the Transformer is the
24:05 cortex sitting underneath
24:07 the GPT models the anthropic Claude
24:10 models it's underneath Bard it's
24:11 underneath stable diffusion it's
24:13 underneath all this generative stuff is
24:14 all based on the Transformer
24:17 um AGI stands for
24:20 artificial general intelligence and it's
24:22 got a very
24:23 um nebulous definition uh people Define
24:27 it differently
24:29 Microsoft just released a paper about a
24:31 month or so ago maybe five or six weeks
24:34 um where they
24:36 ran gpt4 through its paces and and they
24:40 said gpt4 is showing signs of AGI it's
24:44 doing things that are approaching
24:46 reasoning and some of the things that
24:48 are in some definitions of AGI so you
24:50 could argue that attention is all you
24:52 need is
24:54 is is in systems that are being defined
24:59 as AGI but very very early I also don't
25:02 believe I don't really give two shits
25:05 like when the day is that we say okay
25:07 it's AGI the day that I give a [ __ ]
25:09 about was November 30th 2022 that's when
25:13 that URL went live
25:16 chat EBT so to give you some context so
25:19 I was around in the early days of the
25:20 web and I started one of the early
25:22 digital agencies and and
25:24 what's happening with AI that there are
25:26 you know stunning parallels to the mid
25:28 90s with the world wide web and the
25:30 World Wide Web came up
25:31 and
25:33 um
25:38 the the biggest parallel for me is the
25:41 internet had been around for decades the
25:43 world wide web made it accessible to
25:45 real people right you didn't have to be
25:47 a data scientist or work at a research
25:49 University
25:50 um if you could just figure out a little
25:52 bit about HTML and you know figure out
25:54 what a web server was and FTP your files
25:57 from that computer to that computer you
25:59 could put up a website and so it it it
26:01 made this previously kind of mysterious
26:05 technical thing open to regular people
26:08 chat GPT same exact thing
26:12 machine learning and artificial
26:14 intelligence technologies have been
26:15 around for for decades
26:17 um and and uh and and like even gpt3
26:22 that chat GPT started on
26:25 had been around for a year and change
26:26 before chat GPT launched but when it
26:28 launched November 30th 2022
26:32 um
26:33 it went from
26:34 zero to a hundred million users in six
26:37 weeks
26:38 the World Wide Web like we all use the
26:41 internet now it changed everything right
26:42 the World Wide Web took eight years to
26:45 get to 100 million users chat GPT took
26:48 six weeks
26:51 I mean let that sink in this is coming
26:53 fast
26:56 I asked all right just like we all
26:58 figured out with the internet exactly if
27:01 you don't use chat gbt you will be left
27:03 behind or any of the large language
27:05 models barred Bing Poe Claude Claude
27:09 plus Claude 100K did you hear about that
27:12 anthropic
27:14 this week launched a hundred thousand
27:16 token
27:17 context window so what's a context
27:20 window you ask that's the amount of
27:22 words you can put in your little chat
27:23 bubble right now it's about three
27:26 thousand words it's four thousand tokens
27:29 um It's Quickly gone gpt4 is supposed to
27:31 be 32 000 tokens which is 25 000 words
27:35 um about a week ago uh this group called
27:39 Mosaic ml launched a 65 000 token model
27:43 and then yesterday or today I don't know
27:46 doesn't matter the days blend together
27:48 um anthropic launched a hundred thousand
27:50 so 75 000 words you can paste into your
27:54 chat bot thing so paste in your entire
27:57 novel and have it rewrite it
28:02 um the the kids will be fine chuckle was
28:03 funny thank you I tried out to take
28:05 myself seriously but you know you
28:08 sometimes you have to
28:10 it's been beta testing for the past

34:31 is making image generation safe for
34:34 commercial use and so the fact that
34:36 Google took those in is really smart
34:38 because within Google you'll be able to
34:40 generate generate images that are safe
