59. 13:23there and what's remarkable about them is that one they're smart but you know you figure if someone's in AI they're going
60. 13:35to be somewhat smart right but the cool thing about generative AI is you don't need to be like engineering smart you don't need to
61. 13:43be like mathematical smart now if you are cool but let's say for example let's say you made some life choices in your life
62. 13:59and and you know like one of those Life Choices could have been like I want to be a [Music] theatrical and and you're just like I'm
63. 14:09going to go to college and instead of studying computer science I'm going to study acting let's say you made that horrible life
64. 14:20choice let's say you moved to New York and you had stars in your eyes and you're like the the the great white way
65. 14:27and you you you you start a theater company and you you put on original plays and you're you know you're going
66. 14:33to change the world and you're going to revolutionize the theater let's say you did all that what a dream and you're eating boxed macaroni
67. 14:43and cheese and on fancy nights a can of tuna stirt in there just like the casserole mom used to make horrible life
68. 14:55choice and then let's say after you started and ran a theater the company for for for years you ran this Theater
69. 15:03Company four four and a half five years you were doing free theater on on 42nd Street you you'd put three months of
70. 15:12your life into this play that 17 people would come to see horrible life choice let's say that's the choice you
71. 15:20made and then let's say you're you're like I can't do this free theater thing anymore and rather than getting a job
72. 15:30you're like I know what I'll do I'll write screen plays you're like that's a solid plan and and you commit yourself you're
73. 15:41like I'm gonna write I'm just gonna I'm just gonna start writing and I'm going to write seven nights a week and on
74. 15:47weekends I'm going to write all day and what if in two years you wrote seven screen plays and over the next 20 years you you
75. 15:59earned a grand total of $5,000 for those seven screen plays oh what a horrible life choice that would have
76. 16:14been even people like that can do AI now I know it's stupid it's ridiculous ridiculous anyway
77. 16:30there's people like that at the AI Salon there's also people who have made Solid Life Choices have careers there's people
78. 16:38there that have left the workforce and they said screw all you people I'll be in my living room they're doing
79. 16:48AI so anyway that's what goes on at the salon people who've made bad Life Choices hang out together and talk about

84. 17:39exactly one of the great misconceptions about AI is that um that you have to be you you you have to have a degree in mathematics that you

86. 18:04from now will be the 30th be the 2-year anniversary of chat GPT chat GPT in my opinion my humble opinion AI podcast

92. 19:03AI because like we've heard about AI for years right it it does face recognition and it it looks at people in China and
93. 19:11it and it uh it it analyzes financial data it's just like big corporations bu build these big AI systems and and it's just that's what it
94. 19:23is and yet Jim Ross who hangs out at the salon uses AI every single morning for an hour and then throughout the day he does
95. 19:36it like a discipline like I assume he brushes his teeth he may not he's got lovely teeth right but he maybe he just
96. 19:43got maybe they're just ceramic and he doesn't have to brush them right fine whatever we don't judge but let's just pretend he brushes
97. 19:51his teeth brushes his teeth and then he's like you know I'm gonna make myself a cup of joe or a pot you know probably a pot
98. 20:00Brews up the coffee sits down with the laptop at the kitchen table Sun's beaming in on his face and rather than Doom scrolling like
99. 20:09we all do he's like how can I use AI to amplify my business in the next hour sipping on his coffee you know probably he's probably
100. 20:20got a crumpet he seems like a crumpet eaten kind of fella probably got a crumpet on one side coffee on the other
101. 20:27laptop in the middle cruising on AI every [ __ ] morning he's in the Self Storage business people he's kicking
102. 20:41ass that's why you should hang out at a place like the AI to meet people like that to meet people like it's just
103. 20:47counterintuitive doesn't make any sense AI is like for scientists and [ __ ] no no it's for self- storage people and pizza
104. 20:54makers and Housewives and House Husbands and kids and filmmakers who didn't go to film School how do you learn this [ __ ] hang

107. 21:41my my Tik Tok was was full of videos of idiots that sounded like that I'm like is anyone listening to you
108. 21:54do you listen to you what's with the voice and like all those husters they made it seem like if you just learn chat GPT if
109. 22:07you just bought their prompting course all would be right with the world and the money would start flowing [Music]

111. 22:34how to make money with a shovel You' be like how do I make money with a shovel that seems like old technology is it an AI
112. 22:48shovel no I would teach you to find people that need a hole

114. 23:11made called underhyped it talks about this AI stuff and why it's important and and how to use it and how to think about
115. 23:19it and how it works it's all in there and the the dirty little secret about you can make with ch GP is that how you make money with chat
116. 23:32GPT is no different than how you make money with any other tool you figure out a problem that needs solving and you solve it better than the
117. 23:45current solvers of that problem you do it better or you do it faster or you do it cheaper or you do all
118. 23:56three they're used to to be a a little a little Trope in the in the advertising business good FAS or cheap you can have any
119. 24:07two you can have it good and fast or you can have it fast and cheap right you can't have it good fast and cheap I
120. 24:15personally believe that generative AI allows every s single business person every single business to deliver a solution good fast and cheap
121. 24:29now how long will it be good fast and cheap I don't know however long it takes all the other businesses to figure that [ __ ]
122. 24:35out but you got some you probably got a good three years where if you get your head around what AI is and you solve
123. 24:43problems good or faster or cheaper than the other guy you're going to do all right

140. 28:29oh man so here's one of the insights that I've had I talked about it in the salon tonight so if you're at the salon
141. 28:38tonight hope you had fun I thought that was a good Salon it was it was nice um it's very easy if you start paying
142. 28:52attention to this AI stuff which as you can imagine I think you should I think it's important enough to pay attention
143. 29:00to this AI [ __ ] that I come here five nights a week and do this as well as the salon to create a space for people to get curious and get
144. 29:12playful and get Brave and just say like [ __ ] it I'm not good with computers but I I I think I can do this AI stuff
145. 29:24um and there were some really good insights in the salon tonight one of them was for the first year after chat GPT came
146. 29:32out we were we were all rabidly hungry for what the next thing was because the tools were so limited when they first came
147. 29:44out that that you're like I want the one that's good I want the next one I want the next one and you know we went from
148. 29:50chat GPT 3.5 which was a revelation and then in March of 2023 chat GPT 4 comes out and it was a dramatic Improvement and and then you
149. 30:01know image tools got better and then you know songwriting tools came out then there were a bunch of different large
150. 30:07language models that got better and and all this stuff got better and in 2024 I would say one of the themes of 2024 was
151. 30:16not open AI caught up with open AI right so the first six months of the year it was just a lot of companies catching up to open
152. 30:25AI or catching up to whoever the King of the Hill was right so sunno and yudo were one uping each other on the music
153. 30:32space Runway was the King of the Hill and the video space and all of a sudden there's six or seven video tools right
154. 30:39now um there are probably a dozen if if you include open source probably 15 or 20 large language models in the neighborhood of chat
155. 30:51GPT and all the while we've been waiting for chat GPT like they they announced Sora which is was remarkable video tool
156. 30:58and then they announced gp4 Omni and it was going to have all these Omni Channel capabilities and then it just never did
157. 31:05like it like it was supposed to have its own image generation model that was better than Del and then it just never
158. 31:11came and and then three months ago they launched o1 which is this reasoning engine and it's sort of good but sort of
159. 31:17shitty like it's so shitty that Mira Mora left open AI she's like this thing's a piece of [ __ ] I'm not going to
160. 31:24put my name on this thing and they launched it anyway and but it's kind of a piece of [ __ ] but it's a piece of [ __ ] that has a an IQ of
161. 31:35120 and it's like nothing we've ever seen before and so for me what happened over the course of this year is I was
162. 31:50so in the habit of living in the future what's the next tool what's the next iteration what's the my whole channel
163. 31:58was about a new tool came out today here's how you use it a new tool came out today here's the feature a new tool came out
164. 32:08today and what I ended up doing was forgetting the shocking profound power that we all have in our hands
165. 32:22right now today even the free accounts in most of these services are [ __ ] being shatteringly powerful and so I got unexcited about
166. 32:35where we are in history right which is a horrible place to be we're at this remarkable place in history I talk about it on here all the
167. 32:43time but I personally got seduced kif only 120 yeah apparently Jeff Flanigan my my small
168. 32:58town is having a free class on cat GPT and canva through the University extension service I'm looking forward to
169. 33:03the class but mostly seeing who attends I think that's I think people watching in an AI class is is a genius move
170. 33:11people watching in general highly underrated I so like I grew up at a time if you're a gen xer we all just made Relentless [ __ ] fun of one
171. 33:25another and people watching is just an opportunity to judge people you know at their expense and just laugh let just enjoy the hell out
172. 33:37of yourself you're not allowed to do that anymore there's there's trigger warnings you're going to trigger someone
173. 33:43and you can't there's all of the words that we used when we people watched you can't use those words anymore and it's it anyway it's so now
174. 33:53it's a secret pleasure but yeah going to like a a chat GPT class and see who shows up and you know I would imagine
175. 34:01that some of the people showing up to that chat GPT class are going to be some of the people that a year ago were like
176. 34:07AI is stupid why are you doing AI don't waste my time with AI if I wanted to plagiarize I'd go to plagiarism
177. 34:16school I bet some of them are going to be in that class because they got laid off cuz they didn't learn Ai and then
178. 34:25their employer said yeah we're going to we're going to trim back because of the economy and all and uh we decided to
179. 34:32keep the people that started learning how to use these tools so what is his point does he ever get to
180. 34:44the point does he ever finish a sentence he he has finished a sentence before fascinating fascinating really and and
181. 34:54he's made a good point before huh wouldn't know that here not tonight anyway [Music]
182. 35:17um I used to say a thing that I stopped saying which was if you took away all the AI tools and only gave me chat GPT
183. 35:323.5 the thing that came out on November 30th 2022 I could probably spend the next 10 years learning how to use that tool and
184. 35:45never even scratch the surface of it and we're now two years past that we've got custom gpts I think one of the
185. 35:54things I'm going to play with tonight is I'm going to build a custom GPT um and show you how to do that if you
186. 35:59haven't built a custom GPT before you should you should know what they are you should know how to do that if you have built gpts before and
187. 36:10you went through the trough of disillusionment after Sam Alman lied to us scoundrel about the GPT store where we
188. 36:19could sell our GP gpts and become millionaires and then they they just dropped it like a hot potato they
189. 36:30haven't improved the GPT store since they dropped it in November of 20123 a year ago it was actually this week a
190. 36:39year ago custom GPT showed up on the scene they haven't improved the the GPT store since then you can't sell them
191. 36:48nobody can find them nobody knows what they are nobody knows how to use them and they're pretty [ __ ] remarkable
192. 36:58so if you haven't made one in a while or if you haven't used one of the ones you made last year in a while might be time to explore picking
193. 37:09them up again so that's my that's my new excitement my new excitement is what's old is new again and you know all this is going to
194. 37:20go out the window as soon as they drop 01 regular and agents I'll just be talking about oh the the new stuff is so exciting you should

196. 37:44store yeah cuz we had put in all this time on this channel and learning it and on the salon and we were sharing tips and
197. 37:52tricks and Sam told us the Messiah told us store is going to be amazing you're gon to be able to sell your gpts and we're like
198. 38:05Hallelujah we went off and we made we made gpts th thousands thousands of them thousands and the day never
199. 38:23[Music] came but there remarkable the other thing that happened a year ago there was a tool that came out called notebook LM from
200. 38:35Google which you're now like oh yeah the podcast tool no no it came out a year ago didn't have a podcast tool in
201. 38:47it came out a year ago nobody paid attention to it nobody three people in the salon Peter Kaminsky like three
202. 38:56people I forget who there are three of them they're like this notebook LM thing is pretty cool you should try it I'm
203. 39:03like yeah yeah whatever yeah yawn whatever and then what was it two months ago they had a little feature to it a
204. 39:13little teeny tiny feature called audio overview where you can take your notebook and you push the button and it
205. 39:20makes like an NPR style podcast of your [ __ ] data and it's good like it's it's like just this side of
206. 39:30unrecognizable as not human or as human wait no it is it sounds human and because of that everyone went back and checked it out and said hey
207. 39:41this Tool's pretty [ __ ] cool it's pretty remarkable notebook LM like how much time have you spent there did you know that in Notebook
208. 39:55LM you can upload 50 documents of 500,000 words each like 25 million words across 50 documents you just upload it to this
209. 40:06thing and then you start chatting with it like a full novel's like 50,000 words like a big novel is like 880,000 100,000
210. 40:17words 25 million words you can put in this thing and just instantly start chatting with that data that's old that's pretty [ __ ]
211. 40:37remarkable I think they realized the amount of exponential generation it would be the overhead maybe I made podcasts of three of the
212. 40:47businesses near me just for the heck of it the other day practice so Silver Fox that's fascinating if if you made the
213. 40:55podcast for those businesses my question to you is maybe put them on Soundcloud or something like that if you haven't
214. 41:02like did you did you let the businesses know that they had a podcast did you let them hear them CU I I bet they'd be blown [Music]
215. 41:17away it didn't save my podcast so I had to download it for a demo with a client yeah it's janky like it's janky and the
216. 41:27the the trick with the podcasts in Notebook LM is if you don't like what it gave you just delete it and have it
217. 41:32regenerated and if you like some parts of it download it delete it generate a new one download that one and then cut them together in
218. 41:40audacity or some similar [Music] program now many pick at the podcast not
219. 41:54realizing there's more to notebook LM yeah exactly exactly the podcasts were just a teeny little [Music] feature I did a bunch
220. 42:10of research so I have to make sure it's [Music] accurate well the cool thing Silver Fox about doing it for a business is you
221. 42:20could just let them go listen to it and um and let them tell you if it's [Music]
222. 42:37accurate yeah make them for fun use them as a lead in for money making that's kind of what that's kind of what source Camp does Kelly
223. 42:46Camp you know gives a lot gives away a lot of AI Consulting and she'll show people how to do stuff and she'll build something cool for them
224. 42:57and then at the point at which they're like okay I got to figure out this AI [ __ ] or I got to build something with
225. 43:02this AI stuff they're like hey Kelly can you come do this and then they pay her so that's a that's a slick
226. 43:09model that's a slick model all right what are we GNA do let's see um one of the things that came out today I just gave this whole speech on
