14:58 started and ran a theater the company

19:34 hour and then throughout the day he does
19:37 it like a discipline like I assume he
19:40 brushes his teeth he may not he's got
19:41 lovely teeth right but he maybe he just
19:44 got maybe they're just ceramic and he
19:45 doesn't have to brush them right fine
19:47 whatever we don't
19:48 judge but let's just pretend he brushes

28:33 that I've
28:35 had I talked about it in the salon
28:37 tonight so if you're at the salon
28:38 tonight hope you had fun I thought that
28:40 was a good Salon it was it was nice
28:49 um it's very easy if you start paying
28:53 attention to this AI stuff which as you
28:56 can imagine I think you should I think
28:59 it's important enough to pay attention
29:00 to this AI [ __ ] that I come here five
29:02 nights a week and do this as well as the
29:06 salon to create a space for people to
29:10 get curious and get
29:13 playful and get Brave and just say like
29:16 [ __ ] it I'm not good with computers but
29:19 I I I think I can do this AI
29:22 stuff
29:24 um and there were some really good
29:26 insights in the salon tonight one of
29:28 them was
29:30 for the first year after chat GPT came
29:32 out we were we were all rabidly
29:36 hungry for what the next thing was
29:40 because the tools were so limited when
29:41 they first came
29:44 out that that you're like I want the one
29:47 that's good I want the next one I want
29:49 the next one and you know we went from
29:50 chat GPT 3.5 which was a
29:53 revelation and then in March of 2023
29:56 chat GPT 4 comes out and it was a
29:59 dramatic Improvement and and then you
30:01 know image tools got better and then you
30:04 know songwriting tools came out then
30:06 there were a bunch of different large
30:07 language models that got better and and
30:09 all this stuff got better and in 2024 I
30:13 would say one of the themes of 2024 was
30:17 not open AI caught up with open AI right
30:21 so the first six months of the year it
30:23 was just a lot of companies catching up
30:25 to open
30:26 AI or catching up to whoever the King of
30:28 the Hill was right so sunno and yudo
30:30 were one uping each other on the music
30:32 space Runway was the King of the Hill
30:34 and the video space and all of a sudden
30:36 there's six or seven video tools right
30:40 now um there are probably a dozen if if
30:45 you include open source probably 15 or
30:47 20 large language models in the
30:50 neighborhood of chat
30:51 GPT and all the while we've been waiting
30:54 for chat GPT like they they announced
30:56 Sora which is was remarkable video tool
30:58 and then they announced gp4 Omni and it
31:02 was going to have all these Omni Channel
31:03 capabilities and then it just never did
31:06 like it like it was supposed to have its
31:08 own image generation model that was
31:10 better than Del and then it just never
31:11 came and and then three months ago they
31:13 launched o1 which is this reasoning
31:15 engine and it's sort of good but sort of
31:17 shitty like it's so shitty that Mira
31:20 Mora left open AI she's like this
31:22 thing's a piece of [ __ ] I'm not going to
31:25 put my name on this thing and they
31:27 launched it anyway and but it's kind of
31:29 a piece of [ __ ] but it's a piece of [ __ ]
31:31 that has a an IQ of
31:35 120 and it's like nothing we've ever
31:38 seen
31:42 before and
31:44 so for
31:46 me what happened over the course of this
31:48 year is I was
31:50 so in the habit of living in the future
31:54 what's the next tool what's the next
31:56 iteration what's the my whole channel
31:59 was about a new tool came out today
32:01 here's how you use it a new tool came
32:02 out today here's the feature a new tool
32:04 came out
32:09 today and what I ended up doing was
32:14 forgetting the shocking
32:19 profound
32:20 power that we all have in our hands
32:23 right now today even the free accounts

32:31 powerful and so I got unexcited about
32:36 where we are in
32:37 history right which is a horrible place

33:02 extension service I'm looking forward to
33:04 the class but mostly seeing who attends

33:09 in an AI class is is a genius move

33:15 underrated I so like I grew up at a
33:20 time if you're a gen xer we all just

33:28 watching is just an opportunity to judge
33:32 people you know at their expense and
33:35 just laugh let just enjoy the hell out
33:37 of yourself you're not allowed to do

33:46 that we used when we people watched you

34:03 that chat GPT class are going to be some
34:05 of the people that a year ago were like
34:07 AI is stupid why are you doing AI don't
34:10 waste my time with AI if I wanted to
34:12 plagiarize I'd go to plagiarism
34:17 school I bet some of them are going to
34:19 be in that class because they got laid
34:22 off cuz they didn't learn Ai and then
34:25 their employer said yeah we're going to
34:27 we're going to trim back because of the
34:29 economy and all and uh we decided to
34:32 keep the people that started learning
34:34 how to use these
34:39 tools
34:41 so what is his point does he ever get to
34:44 the point does he ever finish a sentence
34:47 he he has finished a sentence before
34:50 fascinating fascinating really and and
34:54 he's made a good point before huh

35:45 never even scratch the surface of
35:48 it and we're now two years past that
35:52 we've got custom gpts I think one of the
35:54 things I'm going to play with tonight is
35:55 I'm going to build a custom GPT
35:58 um and show you how to do that if you
36:00 haven't built a custom GPT before you
36:03 should you should know what they are you
36:05 should know how to do
36:08 that if you have built gpts before and
36:11 you went through the trough of
36:12 disillusionment after Sam Alman lied to
36:15 us
36:17 scoundrel about the GPT store where we
36:19 could sell our GP gpts and become
36:27 millionaires and then they they just
36:29 dropped it like a hot potato they
36:31 haven't improved the GPT store since
36:33 they dropped it in November of 20123 a
36:37 year ago it was actually this week a
36:39 year ago custom GPT showed up on the
36:42 scene they haven't improved the the GPT
36:45 store since then you can't sell them
36:48 nobody can find them nobody knows what
36:50 they are nobody knows how to use
36:52 them
36:55 and they're pretty [ __ ] remarkable
36:59 so if you haven't made one in a while or
37:01 if you haven't used one of the ones you
37:03 made last year in a
37:07 while might be time to explore picking
37:09 them up
37:10 again so that's my that's my new
37:13 excitement my new excitement is what's

37:21 go out the window as soon as they drop

39:19 notebook and you push the button and it

39:31 unrecognizable as not human or as human

39:37 human and because of that everyone went
39:40 back and checked it out and said hey

39:51 know that in Notebook
39:55 LM you can upload 50 documents of
39:59 500,000 words each like 25 million words

40:07 thing and then you start chatting with
40:11 it like a full novel's like 50,000 words
40:15 like a big novel is like 880,000 100,000
40:18 words 25 million words you can put in
40:20 this thing and just instantly start

1:06:11 this coder or this writer is is what's
1:06:14 making the difference between what they
1:06:15 choose so what I would say is start to
1:06:18 experiment with those three platforms or
1:06:21 you know throw perplexity in the mix
1:06:23 throw um Gemini in the mix Gemini
1:06:26 sometimes surprises me it it it does
1:06:28 creative writing sometimes surprisingly
1:06:31 well start doing the same task across
1:06:35 multiple um large language models and
1:06:38 just see which one feels more like you

1:07:35 of that code the machine behaves in this
1:07:37 predictable way now they might have
1:07:40 written a bug into it but every time you
1:07:43 do something that triggers that bug it's
1:07:45 going to be buggy at the exact same
1:07:47 point they can find that bug they can
1:07:50 squash it and it won't do that anymore
1:07:51 and it'll be predictable if you go into
1:07:54 an Excel spreadsheet and you put in this
