8:50 late in a long video so the fact that so

8:54 appreciate that and they give me really
8:56 good comments so I'm not going to not

9:48 the nature of what shifted for
9:51 me um when the channel started
9:56 out C cat GPT had just come out
10:03 the image generation tools had been
10:05 there for a year and a half or two and
10:08 they were they were starting to get
10:09 decent they they were not great but they
10:11 were better than they could at least
10:14 occasionally make a usable
10:17 image um and there're only a handful of
10:20 them and then
10:23 um there was only chat GPT it was a it
10:26 was a really Unique Piece of software
10:28 and then and then it started to not be
10:31 there started to be some other
10:33 things
10:35 um and it made a lot of sense to really
10:38 focus on the tools because what the
10:40 tools made possible was was really
10:43 different it was really different than
10:45 anything we'd ever seen before it was
10:47 not only these weren't just tools right
10:50 these
10:55 were if you take the the literal
10:59 definition of the word
11:01 computer it is something that computes
11:05 right so historically what you would do
11:07 with computers is you would give them
11:09 inputs and it would compute and then it
11:12 would give you
11:13 outputs right I'm going to give you
11:16 these three numbers in this spreadsheet
11:18 I'm going to put some sort of formula in
11:20 there the computer is going to compute
11:22 and it's going to squirt out the things
11:24 I'm going to put in my words and you're
11:27 going to format them and Center them and
11:28 bold them and change fonts for them and
11:30 you're going to Output my words in a
11:33 word
11:34 processor so computers for most of our
11:38 lives have been Computing

11:45 devices and all of a

11:49 sudden computers
11:51 were generating devices
11:55 generating the G and GPT generative
11:58 pre-trained transform former generative

12:03 generative these machines were all of a
12:05 sudden
12:07 generating original content based on our
12:12 input and it
12:14 felt
12:16 urgent to explore what the [ __ ] these
12:19 things were how they
12:21 worked were they really copying and
12:24 pasting were they actually generating
12:25 something new why did they hallucinate
12:30 who are the

12:36 players and
12:40 [Music]
12:44 then so for about a
12:47 year chat
12:49 GPT was King of the Hill no one could
12:52 touch
12:52 it they were they were every time they
12:55 would make an announcement they would
12:57 launch something they would actually
12:59 launch something that we could go play
13:01 with usually within a week or
13:04 two and then
13:06 starting 68 months
13:09 ago they started announcing [ __ ] I think
13:11 Sora was announced in February early
13:14 February sorry I don't I don't know
13:16 what's going on with my fetuccini
13:18 neckline here trying to get it to lay
13:22 flat so I don't look like I just rolled
13:25 out of bed

13:36 so as open AI starts not delivering what
13:41 they
13:42 announced all of the other companies
13:44 that made massive Investments when chat
13:47 GPT came out it's now a year later
13:50 they're starting to launch their [ __ ] so
13:52 anthropic drops Claude 3.5 Sonet it's
13:56 really
13:57 good um grock just dropped grock 2 with
14:02 flux image generation it's really
14:05 good Google dropped 38 versions of
14:09 Gemini 16 of which you can actually find
14:12 if you've got an encyclopedia britanica
14:15 to keep track of all of the
14:18 URLs where Google is hiding

14:26 them meow is dropping you know llama 3
14:30 or llama 2 llama three llama

14:39 three the image generation
14:42 tools the image Generation
14:46 War was already getting
14:50 um crazy and then flux just dropped so
14:53 flux is this new image generation model
14:56 that's really really good like sh
14:59 shockingly
15:00 good and it's open source and free and
15:04 so it's now being incorporated into
15:05 everything so the the image tools are
15:08 just everywhere the large language model
15:10 tools are everywhere the movie
15:13 generating tools are everywhere the real
15:16 time generating tools are
15:19 everywhere um coding tools are getting

15:26 better and so so the sh for me
15:31 is it doesn't feel as critical to talk
15:35 about the
15:36 tools and and I think it hasn't for a
15:40 while and that's sort of like I was like
15:42 am I depressed am I like what is what is
15:45 the thing right you know I'm neuros
15:47 spicy I go through my [ __ ] ups and my
15:49 downs and we all do in the neuros spicy
15:52 Community we're [ __ ]
15:57 Bonkers and it just I couldn't sh
16:00 it and and like what was popping in my
16:02 head
16:05 is I just don't give us much of a [ __ ]
16:08 about the
16:11 tools and it was really bugging me cuz
16:13 I'm like I got a whole [ __ ] Channel

16:16 on at least historically talking about
16:19 the tools now I know I talk about stuff
16:20 other than the tools but that was kind
16:22 of the primary focus

16:32 popped in my head was hey
16:34 [ __ ] cuz that's how I talk to myself
16:38 hey [ __ ] you haven't made a video in
16:40 like three weeks for Tik Tok for your
16:42 Tik Tok Channel Mr big shot AI learning
16:46 lab like AI ninja just did a video today
16:49 and he said here's my favorite content
16:51 creators and I was one of them so thank
16:53 you thank you Ray thank you AI Ninja for
16:55 for including me on that list but then
16:58 I'm like I'm an [ __ ] cuz you know I'm
17:01 on lists of content creators I'm not
17:03 creating
17:04 content oops shut up champy oh you went
17:08 out all right hang on

17:32 so I thought what content can I make and
17:36 then I thought cuz I'm
17:39 a I like using my my brainy brain
17:42 sometimes was like what the [ __ ] is
17:44 going on why have I not made content and
17:47 so I did a I did a video
17:49 today and said I
17:53 don't I haven't made content in a while
17:55 and here's
17:56 why and so it was something around this
17:59 idea
18:02 of these AI tools are so good now and
18:06 there's so many of
18:10 them that you can literally
18:12 just pick one and it's
18:15 fine like if you're just getting
18:18 started all of the tools are now more
18:21 capable than you're prepared
18:24 for hang on sec

18:34 and if you're like well they're not
18:37 fancier than I'm prepared for cuz I'm
18:39 special
18:41 now these tools are more capable like
18:43 every single one of these
18:45 tools each and every one of us could
18:47 spend a
18:49 month doing it eight hours a day diving
18:52 deep on it and still probably not
18:53 scratch the
18:55 surface if you just take something like
18:58 mid Journey Style references that's a
19:01 whole [ __ ]
19:02 world much less just mid journey in
19:06 general and that's you know that's image
19:08 generation and then you've got coding
19:10 tools you've got writing tools and
19:14 you've
19:15 got general purpose Swiss Army knives
19:18 like chat GPT and Claude that can just
19:20 do kind of everything you like well
19:23 everything what

19:41 so here's what's striking
19:45 me I think the focus of the
19:53 channel needs to reflect what's going on
19:56 in the
19:58 world and what's going on in the world
20:00 right now
20:01 is we are on the cusp
20:04 of these tools going from
20:07 being very
20:10 capable discreet disconnected
20:15 tools to
20:18 multimodal
20:21 beasts that can do everything in fact
20:23 one of the things I've seen in the past
20:25 week is that what open AI is actually
20:27 working on right now is what they're
20:31 calling now Real Time video AI yeah
20:35 that's going to be coming too if it's
20:37 not here right
20:38 now

20:41 um that open AI is working on what
20:44 they're calling the everything app and
20:46 the everything app you're like well what
20:48 does that
20:49 mean means what it
20:52 says it's your web browser it's your
20:55 coding environment it's your image
20:56 generation tool it's your music
20:58 generation tool it's your voice
20:59 synthesizer it's your Movie

21:05 Maker and
21:10 so how we interact with
21:15 AI and the
21:18 aptitudes
21:20 that we're going to have to operate
21:24 from are going to be more important than
21:27 the skills for how to use the
21:30 tools and I know that feels weird right
21:32 now cuz the tools are still really hard
21:34 to
21:37 use but the
21:44 tools the tools are going to get a
21:46 simplification layer on top of them
21:48 which is AI
21:50 agents and so in a relatively short
21:52 amount of time this might be 6
21:55 months might be a
21:57 year we're going to have agents where
22:00 you can just say hey I want to go make a
22:03 picture of a
22:05 thing and rather than the tool that
22:08 you're using having to be the thing that
22:09 has the image generation tool in it that
22:12 agent will be able to go hey what are
22:16 all of the image tools that I've got
22:18 access to and of them which is the best
22:21 one for the kind of image I just got
22:23 asked for and it'll go figure it out and
22:25 it'll go prompt the image and it'll have
22:26 enough reasoning potentially to
22:29 understand if it got back what you
22:31 wanted and it'll keep playing until it
22:35 gets it right and it'll just return you
22:36 something that's exactly what you want
22:38 so so we're not that far
22:43 from the ability to just ask for what
22:46 you want and get
22:47 it and so then so what popped in my head
22:50 this morning
22:52 was so the
22:55 skill that we all the the muscle that we
22:58 all have to train
22:59 is how do we ask for what we want how do
23:02 we know what we
23:08 want there's also going to be skills in
23:14 agility maybe I'm in a really passive
23:16 mode and I just want to be
23:19 entertained but then in being
23:21 entertained something inspires me and
23:23 I'm like oh that reminds me of that
23:25 project that I want to work on that I
23:26 never started and now all of a sudden
23:29 they go into active
23:31 mode and then maybe I work on that
23:34 project for a while and I make some good
23:36 progress on it because it's AI
23:38 Amplified and then I'm like oh I got to
23:41 do some work for the day job today so
23:43 let me go do some stuff and I shift into
23:46 that mode and then I shift back into
23:48 relaxation mode and then I right so
23:51 we're going to dynamically be
23:54 shapeshifting as producers flowing back
23:58 and forth
24:00 from consumer to
24:03 producer like fluidly
24:06 and intuitively sometimes can you
24:10 clarify what multimodal represents image
24:12 tangu Le audio Yeah text audio Yeah so
24:17 chat GPT right now is
24:19 multimodal but it's a little it's
24:23 it's it's a little Faker it's a little
24:26 faky version of it
24:30 so chat GPT Omni the Omni in it means
24:34 that it's multimodal but they have it
24:36 hobbled right now so chat gp4 Omni right
24:39 now is acting like chat GPT
24:42 4 that was before it so what happened
24:45 with chat GPT 4 is you've got your large
24:48 language model so you've got the you put
24:52 in a text prompt and you get back a text
24:57 response and then they had this separate
24:59 model called
25:01 Dolly 1 two and
25:03 3 that were image generation models and
25:06 they basically just said hey let's teach
25:08 this thing that if someone asks for an
25:10 image go use Dolly 3 this image model
25:15 and when it generates an image display
25:17 that in your
25:19 chat so but they were two distinct
25:21 models and then you had voice where you
25:24 could put it into voice mode and you
25:26 could ask it a question with your mouth
25:28 part
25:29 and then it would talk back to
25:31 you but it but you weren't really
25:33 talking to the model there were actually
25:35 three different
25:36 models there was when you talked your
25:39 words it would convert your audio into
25:45 text it would then send that text to the
25:47 large language model as a prompt the
25:51 large language model would respond with
25:53 text and then it would send it to
25:55 another model that would take that text
25:57 and turn it into voice
25:59 so the current chat
26:00 gp4 is like four different models kind
26:04 of duct taped
26:06 together gp4
26:09 Omni is not that but it's acting like
26:12 that right now because I think what
26:13 they've done is they've just hobbled it
26:16 so that it's really only using the text
26:18 version they're still using Dolly 3 and
26:20 they're still using text or voice to
26:24 text but sitting underneath it the
26:27 advanced voice mode that not everyone
26:30 has access to but some of some of us
26:34 do it's a single model that the model
26:37 itself understands text images
26:42 audio
26:45 um uh potentially video and then with
26:49 Sora potentially generates video it's
26:52 all inside the single model and so let
26:54 me explain the the so the thing I said
26:57 before you you you talk into chat GPT it
27:00 turns it into text it sends the text to
27:02 the text model the text model answers
27:04 you and then it turns it into voice so
27:06 there's three models involved in in the
27:08 new advanced voice you're talking into a
27:10 multimodal engine that
27:14 understands lots of different modes of
27:16 communication it can understand them
27:18 natively and it can return them natively
27:21 and so natively means this when you talk
27:23 into chat GPT for omni's advanced mode
27:26 you're talking directly into the model
27:29 itself it not only understands your
27:31 words but it understands your
27:36 intonation so if you whisper to it it
27:38 knows you're
27:40 Whispering the new Google advanced voice
27:43 thing that just came out from what I
27:45 understand they're still doing voice to
27:47 text text to response and then text to
27:50 voice back so it's not a it's not a
27:52 multimodal thing now I know they have
27:54 multimodal the the Gemini 1.5 Pro
27:59 for for from Google's Gemini is
28:02 multimodal you can upload a video into
28:04 it and just say hey show me where the
28:07 red wagon is in in this video or you
28:10 know tell me what's happening when the
28:11 red wagon is is in the video so they've
28:14 got models that do it I don't know if
28:15 their voice thing is is doing it right
28:17 now but that true multimodal means it
28:20 can input and output
28:23 natively not just text but everything
28:27 else and so so what that means is we're
28:30 going to be able
28:32 to just do crazy crazy things and and
28:37 and when when you have a multimodal core
28:41 engine and you take something like this
28:44 project strawberry reasoning engine
28:46 which we still haven't [ __ ] seen yet
28:48 sitting on top of it what the reasoning
28:50 engine does is it says hey is the [ __ ]
28:52 that you produce down here any good or
28:55 not that's what this thing does so that
28:57 before you anything it's been thought
29:00 about that's the promise are there other
29:04 types of data that are being used
29:07 besides those four like Biometrics
29:09 possibly
29:10 Biometrics but I mean Biometrics is
29:12 really just
29:14 analyzing um different streams of data
29:18 right if it's visual it might be
29:19 proportions or it might be Iris
29:22 contractions things like that so that's
29:23 just chat gpt's native ability to see
29:27 which it can see right now you can
29:28 upload an image to chat jpt and it can
29:30 see right
29:32 now
29:36 um what I don't know about is
29:40 physics like 3D worlds and
29:43 physics apparently Sora the video model
29:47 is actually a model that is about
29:50 understanding and simulating the 3D
29:53 World I don't know how real that is cuz
29:56 they haven't [ __ ] released it and
29:57 they haven't talked about it other than
29:59 their marketing

31:36 of the things that I've been able to do
31:38 over the years is have a good Instinct
31:42 for when these different shifts

31:52 um it depends on the interface cam I

32:13 numbers so I think that's just interface

32:26 because they've got an API so they don't
32:28 need to build every specific application

32:52 don't know I don't know how real it is
32:55 but apparently neuralink 2 from from
32:59 Elon Musk so their their second the
33:02 second neural link patient is now
33:05 playing what was the video game some
33:08 some firstperson shooter video game just
33:10 using his mind apparently the the
33:13 version 2.0 the next product that
33:15 neuralink is going to put out is to
33:18 return sight to blind people I saw that
33:21 yesterday so

33:29 start when you start Shifting the
33:31 interface from the computer to the
33:33 directly to the brain um then yeah
33:36 you're going to definitely be using um
33:39 it's not even just Biometrics right cuz
33:41 Biometrics is like metadata about the
33:44 biology neuralink is tapping directly
33:47 into the into the your gray matter and
33:50 you're going to be able to do that um um
33:53 meta right now has some sort of this big
33:56 wrist thing that is actually pulling um
34:00 neural signals you know from your
34:02 nervous system and communicating
34:04 directly with your brain so I think
34:06 we're going to have direct to brain
34:09 interfaces you know probably within 3 to
34:13 5
34:14 years and then yeah then I think these I
34:17 think multimodal models are going to
34:19 need to be able to go back and forth
34:21 with your brain so that's [ __ ]

34:26 that [ __ ] right now that that'll come
34:29 what what's the immediate thing is
34:33 this so about 2 months ago I wrote an
34:37 article with Kevin Clark called rise of
34:40 the agile

34:45 candidate for it when approved I think
34:47 it I think that might be what it was
34:49 called
34:51 yeah yeah it's it's their second product
34:53 that could be it what's your opinion on
34:55 humanoid robot latest advancements that
34:58 that the humanoid robots are coming fast

35:03 um and again when you go to a true
35:08 multimodal it's funny multimodal is such
35:10 a geeky [ __ ] term it makes it sound
35:12 so
35:14 antiseptic but basically right now if
35:18 you've got a
35:20 robot you you take the I sensors the
35:22 visual sensors or the infrared sensors
35:24 or the lar sensors whatever they are and
35:27 they're going into one model you've got
35:31 um its ears taking in auditory inputs
35:35 Translating that audio into text sending
35:38 that text to a large language model
35:41 getting the answer the answer will
35:43 include both spoken things but also
35:46 commands for how the robot should move
35:48 right so if you ask it give me something
35:51 nutritious it will look and analyze and
35:53 say oh there's an apple and it it will
35:56 be using the large language model to get
35:58 the the commands to reach and grab the
36:00 Apple well right now that's all of these
36:04 different AI engines having to be
36:07 coordinated so the latency between all
36:10 these different models is slow so that's
36:13 sometimes where these there's these
36:14 weird delays right you ask it for
36:17 something it thinks and then it goes
36:20 sure I can do that for you and then it
36:22 reaches when you have this true
36:24 multimodal engine that can see hear talk
36:29 um process write code analyze code do
36:37 reasoning all in a single
36:40 model the latency between all the
36:42 different modalities of those robots is
36:44 going to get good so the physical robots
36:46 they've got them worked out the thing
36:48 it's waiting for is kind of this next
36:50 generation of large language model that
36:52 are just these beasts that can do all
36:55 this all this different kinds of
36:56 processing natively without having to
36:58 jump between
37:00 models not unlike our brains are
37:03 segmented for specialized tasks yep our
37:06 brains can you know process them really
37:08 quick right and that's that's the right
37:10 now the the gaps between the models and
37:13 the robots because they're they're very
37:14 different models are are what create the
37:17 latency Kyle was thinking

37:32 I am so so I wrote this paper called
37:35 rise of the agile human and what it
37:38 talks about
37:40 is aptitude trumps
37:45 skill and there's some very
37:48 specific ways of
37:50 Behaving that if you behave like that
37:52 you're going to be very successful in
37:56 Ai and if you don't behave like that
37:59 it's going to be
38:02 rough and so for example an one of those
38:05 attributes is curiosity like some of
38:08 these are the values of the AI Salon are
38:10 you
38:11 curious and so how we don't leave
38:15 beginners behind is we just say hey if
38:16 you're a beginner
38:18 here let's get
38:21 curious so an exercise I've even thought
38:24 of tonight
38:26 is um
38:29 let's pick a
38:31 category and say who's tried something
38:34 and just go try something and and just
38:38 have people you know put in the comments
38:40 here's the tool I tried here's the tool
38:41 I tried and I'll just go look at them
38:43 and so we'll still be playing with tools
38:45 but what we'll be exploring is curiosity
38:47 or Adventure or
38:50 bravery like a lot of times on here I
38:53 will get nervous
38:55 about not wanting to do something if I
38:57 haven't tried tried it before well [ __ ]
38:59 that maybe I need to suck it up
39:03 buttercup
39:05 and go try something in real time risk
39:08 it being boring risk you know falling on
39:10 my face and not figuring it
39:12 out because that's one of those
39:14 aptitudes that become increasingly
39:18 important so I think what I want to
39:20 cultivate what where I want the
39:22 conversations to go in here is to is to
39:24 really look
39:26 at what are these aptitudes that are
39:29 going to make us AI super users
39:32 independent of the tools because the
39:34 tools are all getting so good now you
39:36 can essentially use any of
39:39 them and what's going to be more
39:41 interesting is the ability to quickly
39:42 shift between something you you are
39:45 masterful at you're really good at to
39:48 something where you're completely out of
39:49 your element and just be able to do it
39:51 like that and not hesitate and not be
39:54 afraid and not be intimidated
40:00 because that
40:03 nimbleness that mental acuity to be able
40:05 to just
40:06 [Laughter]
40:08 go the tools can now keep up with us
40:12 they can augment where we're weak
40:14 they're going to
40:15 augment so all we have to do is be able
40:17 to go I want to do this oh now I want to
40:19 do that oh now I want to do this oh now
40:21 I want to do that I think that skill
40:24 becomes a [ __ ] superpower
40:28 and so again like all of my talking
40:32 right now this is like 8 Hour old
40:34 thinking like it just hit me
40:36 today what's going on so I don't know
40:38 what that looks like in here it you know
40:40 what's funny it may not feel
40:44 different if if you've been like we'll
40:47 probably still do similar stuff I'll go
40:49 show
40:50 [ __ ] but maybe how we get there is
40:53 different and maybe what we talk about
40:54 is different um
40:59 you know maybe it makes sense to bring
41:01 people up to say hey I was at work today
41:03 and someone asked me to try something
41:05 new and it scared the [ __ ] out of me all
41:07 right let's talk about that why did it
41:08 scare you what what was scary about it
41:12 well I'd never done that before okay did
41:14 you have chat GPT yeah did chat GPT
41:16 solve it for you immediately oh yeah it
41:18 was fine okay so that fear of not being
41:21 able to do it that was a legacy fear
41:24 right oh yeah okay you know like like
41:27 that could that could potentially be
41:28 really
41:32 valuable I don't know what are your
41:34 thoughts what are you
41:43 thoughts [ __ ] I'm old now I have to bop
41:47 bop
41:49 bop would love to explore how everyone
41:52 talks about AI in their life and daily
41:54 and work yep exactly I I had some
41:58 thoughts a moment ago but now they're
41:59 they're
42:01 outdated very valuable says Dr J I'm
42:05 down I've been going through the same
42:06 shift interesting Source Camp's been
42:09 thinking about this a
42:12 lot quick tour the salon yeah that's
42:15 that's a good idea
42:18 um okay you're on to
42:23 something um so there's a couple of
42:25 things that I'm going to be talking
42:27 about
42:28 one is Rise of the agile human we're
42:30 going to go through some of those
42:31 attributes one is rise rise of the agile
42:34 organization how do
42:37 organizations how should they be
42:39 behaving in this what is your
42:43 problem what do you want what's going on
42:46 dude
43:13 that is one whiny dog tonight
43:16 um so we're going to be talking about
43:18 rise of the agile human rise of the
43:21 agile
43:23 organization we're going to be talking
43:25 about collective intelligence whatever
43:26 the [ __ ] that means
43:29 I'm writing a book on it right
43:31 now um and then we're going to talk be
43:33 talking a lot about community and
43:37 so if you haven't been here

44:32 Nimble it is not going to be possible
44:34 for any one of us to understand even a
44:38 small fraction of what's going on with
44:43 AI and so I think for many many many
44:47 reasons being a part of a community full
44:50 of
44:52 people who have
44:54 similar
44:56 aptitude Sim
44:59 similar
45:01 willingness to experiment and play and
45:03 try is critical so if you go here that's

45:52 exploring generative AI gaining the
45:55 knowledge and inspiration to mindfully
45:57 create
45:58 surprising ourselves and powerfully
46:00 meeting challenges unleashing us to
46:03 generously lead others enriching lives
46:06 redefining what's possible and unlocking
46:08 a new era of human achievement that
46:11 first one play first is weird seems
46:15 counterintuitive it's like well I've got
46:17 work to do what do you what do you mean
46:18 play I mean
46:21 play I mean
46:23 play I mean play with tools it it was
46:26 funny on the Salon this
46:29 week one of the guys got on and he goes
46:31 well I'm not the creative one in our
46:33 family I'm the coding guy and I'm not
46:35 the creative one my wife's the creative
46:36 one and she's the creative one and so I
46:38 don't use these creative tools cuz I'm
46:39 not the creative one I'm not the
46:41 creative one I'm not the creative
46:42 one what play looks like is even if
46:46 you're not the creative One play with
46:47 the creative
46:49 tools even if you're completely [ __ ]
46:52 intimidated by coding and
46:55 Engineering have chat write code for you
46:58 and then have chat GPT teach you what to
47:00 do with
47:05 it like explore figure out where the
47:08 boundaries are the boundaries of
47:10 yourself the boundaries of the tech play
47:13 first and in doing that with no
47:17 expectations what ends up happening is
47:20 it unlocks something and everyone that
47:22 that interacts with AI in this way it
47:25 unlocks some Joy
47:29 of the process of
47:31 learning where you shift from oh I have
47:34 to learn
47:36 AI to I get to learn AI holy [ __ ] this
47:40 is exciting holy crap are you kidding
47:46 me you learn in a completely different
47:49 way and then in doing that you'll learn
47:53 enough to shift into that next mode
47:56 which is mindfully create it doesn't
47:58 mean just making crap and vomiting it
48:00 out there it means okay now that I've
48:02 learned some skills
48:04 playing let me put together an art
48:07 project or let me solve a problem at
48:10 work or let me write a business plan for
48:12 the business I've been thinking about
48:13 all my life but too afraid to
48:16 start start building something start
48:19 building something with
48:21 intention and then the generously lead
48:23 part is tell people what you're doing
48:28 ask for help offer
48:31 help share to your Facebook group hey I
48:34 started this new project and I'm using
48:36 Ai and these three things it was
48:38 brilliant at and these two things it
48:39 really sucked
48:44 at and you'll Inspire someone else to go
48:47 wait you're doing what with AI oh I I
48:51 had it write a business plan and now I'm
48:53 I'm I started my business like AI helped
48:56 me incorporate it wait it can do that
48:58 and before you know it you'll find
49:00 yourself in a leadership
49:03 position where you're like I I'm just
49:05 learning this [ __ ] and it'll feel
49:08 uncomfortable and weird but what'll
49:09 happen over time is you'll get more and
49:11 more comfortable with being in that
49:14 conversation and you'll become a leader
49:17 and you'll become an
49:19 innovator and you'll start to trust
49:23 yourself so AI literacy isn't about
49:25 mastering the tools it's about mastering
49:27 the
49:28 mindset to be fluid enough to use these
49:31 tools
49:32 powerfully so anyway so that's that's
49:35 kind of what the salon is about so what
49:37 we created here is a six-stage
49:40 onboarding process so step one is you
49:43 know check out about the salon step two
49:45 is introduce yourself so you should go
49:48 in here and you should say here's who I
49:50 am I'm Nina I'm an illustrator and a
49:52 designer who went rogue some years ago
49:54 awesome right
49:57 so go in here introduce yourself let
49:59 people know who you are let let people
50:00 know what you're up to then take a look
50:02 at our
50:05 values and these are some of these
50:07 attributes some of these aptitudes that
50:09 I'm going to talk about with rise of the
50:10 agile
50:12 human there's more in that article but
50:15 the biggies for the salon are
50:17 curiosity
50:20 playfulness
50:21 empathy empathy is a big one a lot of
50:24 people right now are really afraid a lot
50:26 of people are
50:30 um
50:34 Angry they're like the AI is going to
50:36 take my jobs the AI is going to kill
50:41 us rather than arguing with
50:44 them understand what that where that
50:46 fear is coming
50:48 from and if you can understand it then
50:50 you can say oh yeah I felt that I know
50:52 what that feels like I felt like that
50:53 too and then I tried it and you know
50:56 what got me over the hump is this thing
50:58 or that
50:59 thing I just did it tonight I was just
51:01 at a gallery tonight with the wife and
51:04 this guy started chatting me up he's
51:06 like what do you do I said I'm a
51:08 photographer and I'm I'm really into ai
51:10 ai
51:12 huh and I talked for half an hour about
51:16 how much I love it and this and that and
51:18 how I'm more creative alive than I've
51:20 ever been and he just had this [ __ ]
51:22 puzzled look on his face I'm like where
51:24 are you with this stuff and he
51:25 goes I I don't know he goes I like he
51:29 has he he hadn't really taken it in he
51:31 wasn't against it he wasn't for it I
51:34 said you want to see something cool it's
51:36 it's my line want to see something
51:38 cool and I had taken a picture of I
51:42 wonder if I can show it to you I think I
51:45 can cuz it's digital and it's in the
51:47 cloud
51:57 is this it hang
52:02 on
52:03 today
52:07 yeah so I'm at this gallery and this
52:11 piece of artwork's on the wall and I
52:12 thought that was kind of
52:15 interesting was a print on
52:18 fabric and so I opened up chat
52:22 GPT and I said create a version of this
52:26 with human agility as the theme so I've
52:29 been thinking about this human agility
52:31 thing and that's what it
52:36 generated and I showed him
52:39 that I said I started with this and I
52:42 said recreate it with human agility as
52:44 the
52:45 theme and he'd never
52:48 seen any of these tools do
52:50 anything he was like huh I said yeah and
52:54 then I said I wanted it to be taller so
52:57 I said make it taller and more geometric
52:59 and then it did
53:01 this and he's like
53:06 huh I mean that's [ __ ]
53:10 Bonkers it's inspired by that other
53:12 artwork but it's in no way you know a
53:15 plagiarism of it it's
53:17 a it's a stylistic nod to
53:23 it and then I popped open mid Journey or
53:27 Korea I think it was
53:29 Korea and he was a photographer I said
53:32 describe some of your your photography
53:35 and he described it
53:41 as like mythical fear or something like
53:46 that and so I put it in and it made this
53:49 image and his head cocked sideways and
53:51 he went huh he never really said much
53:57 and then I went and looked at other art
53:59 and then about 5 minutes later he had
54:01 his phone out and he
54:03 goes what what would that what was that
54:06 one deconstruct I said Deco here yeah
54:09 Deco here and you wrote that down and I
54:11 said
54:12 Korea and then I said mid
54:15 journey I said go play with those he's
54:17 like yeah I'm
54:19 gonna right so you know being empathetic
54:22 to the fact that people might
54:25 be in a in a place of resistance in his
54:29 case it wasn't an articulated
54:32 resistance but it was like like what
54:34 what felt clear to me about him
54:40 was I sensed that he didn't think it was
54:44 possible he was technical enough to do
54:47 anything with
54:52 AI Kyle we should call those situations
54:55 hold my AI beer that's
54:57 [Laughter]
55:14 awesome oh that's cool cam let me know

55:44 whatever it is and I just said recreate
55:46 this as an oil
55:48 painting and it made that it's
55:51 like just like
55:53 casual remixing the world you know
56:03 H so anyway I've gotten off track AI
56:09 Salon empathy that started with empathy
56:11 take people
56:13 in
56:16 bravery especially if you
56:20 are if you have labeled yourself as I'm
56:23 not technical enough to do this AI stuff
56:27 I'm not smart enough I'm not technical
56:29 enough I'm not trained enough I didn't
56:31 go to computer science I only have an
56:33 art degree you know I I I'm only a a
56:36 stay-at-home mom or dad or you
56:40 know I I work in a you you know in a
56:43 service business I've never done
56:44 anything with computers other than you
56:46 know at the
56:49 register it takes some [ __ ] guts to
56:51 be willing to
56:54 go I'm willing I'm willing to step
56:58 into being
57:00 ignorant and feel
57:02 uncomfortable long enough to learn what
57:04 these tools are that takes some
57:07 bravery you know what you know what else
57:09 takes bravery I
57:11 realize step two of our little
57:13 onboarding intro introduce yourself
57:16 that's [ __ ]
57:18 terrifying and so the value of Bravery
57:21 is like be willing to step up and say
57:24 hey I'm new here
57:27 don't spit in my
57:32 eye and this community won't they'll
57:35 embrace you and then the last one is
57:42 generosity generously
57:44 lead be willing to say hey here's what I
57:47 learned be willing to ask a question ask
57:51 for help if you need
57:53 it because
57:56 while it might feel on the surface like
57:58 asking for help is is is a sign of
58:01 weakness it's actually a leadership
58:04 move because when you ask for help you
58:08 create the space for someone else to
58:10 lead so it is a leadership move to ask
58:13 for
58:14 help it's a leadership move to
58:17 generously offer your help but not
58:20 everyone no one right now is an expert
58:23 not everyone has all the
58:25 answers so there there's going to be
58:27 places where you know more than everyone
58:28 else in this community and there's going
58:29 to be places where you don't know
58:31 anything and someone else does my
58:34 bravery and confidence has skyrocketed
58:36 since joining this group yep
58:38 awesome um number four is Watch past
58:41 meetings so every other week we have um
58:44 meetings there's meet and greet meetings
58:47 where we introduce ourselves and then
58:49 there's speaker meetings Source Camp
58:51 spoke at one of our meetings the LTX
58:54 team and Jason Allen he's artist that I
58:58 don't know if you remember this piece of
58:59 art but this piece of art he entered
59:01 into a an art contest at the Colorado
59:04 State Fair three years ago two and a
59:06 half years ago or no year year and a
59:08 half ago and he won it and then they
59:11 found out it was Ai and you know he has
59:13 had a hell of a journey since then he's
59:16 had death
59:17 threats CU he made a pretty piece of art
59:20 but he didn't use the right
59:22 tools so there's interesting so you can
59:25 understand sort of the personality of
59:26 the group group watching meetings and
59:27 then step five is RSP for our next
59:31 event and then the last one is water
59:34 cooler just jump in and
59:36 start chitchatting about AI the water
59:40 cooler is sort of a you know no specific
59:43 subject if you want to talk about AI you
59:45 can pop it in here into a live chat or
59:47 you can create threaded discussions and
59:49 then there's a community section there's
59:51 a showand tell area there's guilds
59:53 creative guilds business guilds Tech
59:55 guilds and so social impact guilds and
59:58 then there's even Community clubs

1:01:24 make money by solving people's problems
1:01:26 in a way that is valuable enough to them
1:01:29 that they're willing to give you money
1:01:31 for it you can use chat GPT to do that
1:01:35 faster and better and cheaper than the
1:01:37 competition so you can use chat GPT but
1:01:40 if you don't think about making money
1:01:42 with chat gbt you think about making
1:01:44 money with how do you do something that
1:01:48 someone else is willing to pay for it
1:01:50 was funny I saw on Twitter the other day
1:01:53 I saw someone had a whole cheat sheet at
1:01:54 the top of it it said you can make money
1:01:56 with chat GPT and it was a whole
1:01:58 worksheet and I went and looked at the
1:02:00 worksheet had nothing to do with chat
1:02:03 GPT it's like you can make seminars you
1:02:06 can write books you can create a
1:02:08 newsletter you can I'm like this is all
1:02:10 the [ __ ] we did
1:02:12 before this is how we made money
1:02:15 before it's just a different tool we're
1:02:18 using now a different series of tools
1:02:21 and we're doing it faster and better and
1:02:22 cheaper
1:02:29 um but I think that being in a community
1:02:32 like the AI
1:02:34 Salon is going to be the key
1:02:38 to employment in the
1:02:46 future and it won't necessarily just be
1:02:49 the the
1:02:51 salon it'll be any Community where
1:02:54 you're inter acting in a in a deep and
1:02:58 trusted way with a group of individuals
1:03:01 who have the
1:03:03 aptitude to be good at
1:03:09 AI that if you're good at it if you've
1:03:12 got these aptitudes like curiosity and
1:03:14 adventure and bravery and willingness to
1:03:17 try and willingness to reinvent and
1:03:19 willingness to question
1:03:24 everything you're going to want to be
1:03:26 around people who are like that too
1:03:29 you're not going to want to be around
1:03:30 people who are sitting like this going I
1:03:32 think AI is stupid no cuz you're going
1:03:36 to realize what a [ __ ] superpower it
1:03:38 is and so you're going to want to hang
1:03:39 out with people who have superpowers and
1:03:41 so the AI Salon is
1:03:43 that it's a whole group of AI
1:03:48 optimists that
1:03:50 are
1:03:51 exercising their aptitude
1:03:55 muscles for being able to operate well
1:03:59 in this environment and what happens
1:04:01 when you're in a group like that is you
1:04:03 will gravitate towards certain people
1:04:05 and you'll like how they work and you'll
1:04:07 like how they think and you'll like how
1:04:08 they make you laugh and you like how
1:04:11 they're really talented but they're not
1:04:13 an
1:04:15 [ __ ] and then when you get hired to
1:04:17 do something and it's a bigger job than
1:04:19 you can do on your own who are you going
1:04:22 to
1:04:23 hire someone who on LinkedIn said says
1:04:26 they've got AI on their resume or
1:04:28 someone that you've been hanging out
1:04:30 with for 6 Months 8 months 18
1:04:33 months and you [ __ ] love the way they
1:04:37 work so this is these kind of groups are
1:04:41 where employment's going to happen maybe
1:04:44 the salon should have a help wanted
1:04:45 section not half kidding next LinkedIn I
1:04:48 no we've thought about that I think I
1:04:50 we're in the middle right now of really
1:04:54 rethinking the experience and and how
1:04:56 people navigate it and and what its
1:04:58 purpose is and and I think having
1:05:01 something
1:05:03 around employment or you know I'm
1:05:06 working on a project and I need you know
1:05:09 volunteer people Sweat Equity people I
1:05:12 got hired for a project and I've got you
1:05:14 know I need to hire someone so I think I
1:05:17 think having a job board in the salon is
1:05:19 not a bad idea
1:05:21 actually the community helps bring me
1:05:23 much needed interaction expanding my Joy

1:07:38 from a handful of distinct
1:07:43 tools that each did like one thing very
1:07:47 well and a bunch of other stuff not well
1:07:49 or just you know to all of a sudden you
1:07:52 have multiple options on all fronts you
1:07:55 have multiple large language models that
1:07:57 are good you have multiple multi modal
1:08:00 models that are very good you have
1:08:02 multiple conversational models that are
1:08:04 very good you have many many image
1:08:07 generation models that are quite
1:08:09 brilliant you have many many video
1:08:11 things you have you have at least four
1:08:14 or five audio things you've got 11 labs
1:08:17 for voice
1:08:18 synthesis you've got Synthesia did and
1:08:23 um what the [ __ ] it called hey Jen
1:08:26 for digital
1:08:30 avatars so developing your
1:08:34 aptitude is what's next because the
1:08:37 skills the
1:08:38 knowledge and the skills which is where
1:08:41 our current value is our current value
1:08:43 in today's society and in today's
1:08:46 education is
1:08:47 around amassing Knowledge and amassing
1:08:51 Skills and those are about to become
1:08:54 commoditized
1:08:56 commodified
1:08:59 commodified that one always screws me up
1:09:01 and when people say it wrong I judge
1:09:03 them but then I when I go to say it I

1:17:27 to pull the gems out of the muck right

1:19:42 skills let's evaluate them on these
1:19:45 criteria curiosity Drive creativity
1:19:50 critical thinking discernment or or
1:19:52 taste judgment and adap
1:19:57 ability people that score high on these
1:20:00 are going to be really good for AI and
1:20:02 these are the people that you should
1:20:04 value
1:20:05 more and you should provide extra
1:20:07 training and you should provide them
1:20:09 these are the people that score high in
1:20:11 these aptitudes for um if you're putting
1:20:15 together an
1:20:16 AI you know uh
1:20:19 counil these are the ones that should be
1:20:21 on
1:20:23 it and ideally they come from different
1:20:26 disciplines this was if you were on one
1:20:28 of on on my um AI office hours 3 weeks
1:20:32 ago HT snow day talked about this event
1:20:36 he did in his company where he did a it
1:20:40 was like a half day AI Summit or you
1:20:43 know whatever 30 30 or 40 people from
1:20:46 the
1:20:47 company came in to learn about Ai and he
1:20:49 did a half hour session on using chat
1:20:54 GPT or Claude to make a game a video
1:20:59 game and there were four rules first
1:21:02 rule was you've got to use generative AI
1:21:05 second rule was it's got to be a game
1:21:07 where stuff falls from the top of the
1:21:08 screen and you catch it with a paddle or
1:21:12 whatever third rule was it's got to be
1:21:15 done in HTML so that they could you know
1:21:18 play them in a browser and I forget what
1:21:20 the fourth one
1:21:23 was and there were different prizes like
1:21:25 one of the prizes who got it done
1:21:27 fastest the guy who got it done fastest
1:21:30 had a functional game in 2 and a half
1:21:34 minutes and was a customer service
1:21:38 guy the guy that won for the best most
1:21:41 sophisticated game was a project
1:21:46 manager the only people who failed to
1:21:49 create a functional
1:21:52 game in the half hour that was allotted
1:21:57 were
1:22:00 engineers because Engineers had the
1:22:03 burden of knowing how to program
1:22:05 computers the other people didn't the
1:22:08 other people just said give me a game
1:22:09 that does this and chat GPT and Claw
1:22:13 just gave them a game that did that the
1:22:16 engineers were like okay I want you to
1:22:18 write code that generates Sprites that
1:22:22 that have simulate gravity falling from
1:22:25 the top of the screen to the bottom of
1:22:27 the screen right they were they were not
1:22:29 prompting these large language models
1:22:32 like human beings would they were prom
1:22:34 prompting them like Engineers would and
1:22:37 as a result it failed them because they
1:22:39 were telling it to write components and
1:22:42 the people that didn't know what they
1:22:43 were doing in giant air quotes just
1:22:47 asked it to give them a game and it did
1:22:49 right so those people who are willing to
1:22:52 look at the ex exercise on its surface
1:22:55 and just say all right give me a game
1:22:57 that does this they did better right so
1:22:59 so that was an exercise that was all
1:23:02 about you know this shift
1:23:05 from skills to
1:23:09 aptitude so and that
1:23:11 cool so that I'm pretty excited about so
1:23:14 so that's the kind of stuff that I want
1:23:16 to start framing our conversations
1:23:19 in and so maybe one night we'll have a
1:23:22 curiosity night maybe one night we'll
1:23:24 have a taste night right you know when
1:23:26 we made weird

1:23:56 more and then just one of the titles was
1:23:59 weird Mary from Cedar Hill and I was
1:24:01 like o that one's good and then when I
1:24:03 read what the the plot of the song was
1:24:05 it was even better so I'm like yeah
1:24:07 let's do that
1:24:09 one and then we had it write lyrics and
1:24:12 then some of the lyrics sucked right and
1:24:14 we rewrote them and it was this
1:24:16 collaborative back and forth but it was
1:24:18 a discernment thing was a taste thing to
1:24:20 go can we get these lines
1:24:22 right and then we went to Sun Ando
1:24:26 made what was it eight shitty songs 12
1:24:29 shitty songs and then one of the songs
1:24:32 it made was the one that was like Oh it
1:24:33 sounded kind of like this funky ass Tom
1:24:36 Petty kind of
1:24:40 vibe and within 2 hours we had a song
1:24:44 that was really
1:24:45 good we made a little

1:28:59 ability to think
1:29:02 critically um and so
1:29:05 so having conversations in this channel

1:29:10 to is going to start focusing around
1:29:13 that like how do you be a good AI
1:29:16 practitioner
1:29:18 um rather
1:29:20 than here are the here's the prompt
